Weird Questions for Writers

10. Has a piece of writing ever “haunted” you? Has your own writing haunted you? What does that mean to you?

Has a piece of writing ever haunted me ... That's a good question, I don't think I have an answer to that. I have read some weird things already, like "Nichts" by Janne Teller or "Das Kartengeheimnis" (The Solitaire Mystery) by Jostein Gaarder, because my aunt gave that to me when I was perhaps way too young to grasp it. I should reread that one.

Haunt, haunt ... Books I read for sure had an impact on my life! But haunt? Does my own writing haunt me, because I think about it near-constantly? I don't know. I think there's a lot of ghosts in my mind and in the words I put on the page, but I can't call out anyone specifically.

25. What is a weird, hyper-specific detail you know about one of your characters that is completely irrelevant to the story?

Oh, I have a few of those!

Some Charlie ones: - Charlie has a giant extended family with a fucktillion cousins and he hates almost everyone. They are all on his mother's side and she hates them, too. It's mutual. - Charlie is neither a dog nor a cat person. His favourite animals are birds. - Charlie took Piano lessons upon his mother's wishes but got quickly bored and his father helped him dodge lessons and played football with him instead.

Some other ones: - Paddy's best friend Kilian has an older brother called Keith and their other best friend Angus has at least one younger sister - Some people have middlenames that are never brought up: Katta is called Katharina Lieselotte Schlosser after her godaunt (and her little brother is called Lukas Georg Schlosser), Robert is actually called Robert Brandon Bailey, and Fabio Fabio Giuseppe Bellini. Alois is called Alois Franz Huber and his sister Elisabeth Maria Huber, while Gwen (Charlie's mother) is actually a Gwendolyn Aoibheann Higgins, born Fitzpatrick. - Franci has an older half sister called Beatrice. They both grew up with their mother Daniela and he never actually met his father. - Michele's grandmother Lena actually wanted to become a musician, but was married off to his grandfather Giovanni instead. She's from Greece and never really learned Italian, despite living the rest of her life in Sicilian and raising one child there. - Michele also has aunts on his mother's side, but never met any of her family, since they kicked her out and disavowed her for dating Salvatore. So there's a very good chance there are some cousins of his running around in Syracuse. - Harry was the captain of his school's Gaelic Football Team! Didn't make him that much more popular with the rest of the students, but he and Charlie played on the team for a while and the Coach loved Harry. If shit hadn't gone upside down, he probably would have become a professional athlete for a career. - Robert's cigarette brand of choice is Mayfair, because once a cheap bastard, always a cheap bastard.

A lot of those facts are me shaking family members and friends out of my sleeves, but I can't, for some reason, recall other hyperspecific details right now. Tattoos maybe, that some people have? I don't dwell too much on people as individuals in the sense that I know them inside out, but I love to make OCs that aren't part of the story at all but populate the world oh so nicely. It makes it feel less like the world revolves around the characters I picked as the main ones and more like a camera just accidentally follows them ... If you would ask me, say, something very precisely though, like "What is XYZ's favourite colour?" I would be able to think about it and answer it!

32. What is a line from a poem/novel/fanfic etc that you return to from time and time again? How did you find it? What does it mean to you?

Some of these things I could maybe have put into the haunting category as well, but they probably fit better here.

I love a lot of quotes, but especially Gräfin Orsinas, from Emilia Galotti. Her "Die Unglücklichen ketten sich so gern aneinander" (The Unfortunate ones like to chain oneself together) is one of the top quotes of all time and I cannot even tell you why!!! I just like it, it's so ... compassionate and yet a bit overdramatic, like everything about her is. I love to use that saying when something goes wrong for more than one person.

Robert Harris' Cicero Trilogy has left quite the mark on my life. I really want to put this quote somewhere on my walls, because it motivates me like no other: "It is perseverance, and not genius that takes a man to the top. Rome is full of unrecognized geniuses. Only perseverance enables you to move forward in the world."

But the things that especially haunt me, that shake me to my core are scenes like at the end of the first part of Imperium, where Tiro describes all the senators who play an important role, sitting in the senate building during the setting evening sun ... He says he remembers them clear as day and can't believe that they, with their dreams and ambitions, like the building they are sitting in, are only dust now.

And one from the end, after Tiro is done writing about Cicero's life ... talked about his death ... As much as his death breaks my heart each time, despite it being inevitable, there is something so soothing to this end: "Often today I reread On the Republic, and always I am moved, especially by the passage at the end of book six, when Scipio describes how his grandfather appears to him in a dream and takes him up into the heavens to show him the smallness of the earth in comparison to the grandeur of the Milky Way, where the spirits of dead statesmen dwell as stars. The description was inspired by the vast, clear night skies above the Bay of Naples: I gazed in every direction and all appeared wonderfully beautiful. There were stars which we never see from earth, and they were all larger than we have ever imagined. The starry spheres were much greater than the earth; indeed the earth itself seemed to me so small that I was scornful of our empire, which covers only a single point, as it were, upon its surface. “If only you will look on high,” the old man tells Scipio, “and contemplate this eternal home and resting place, you will no longer bother with the gossip of the common herd or put your trust in human reward for your exploits. Nor will any man’s reputation endure very long, for what men say dies with them and is blotted out with the forgetfulness of posterity.”"

I had to reread The Cicero Trilogy immediately after the first time, because it ends in a way that makes you think "No! No this can't be how it ended! It started to well! All the fights we won! All the progress made ... for nothing?!" and bamm, you are back at rereading the Verres trial. Yet ... yet this was what probably made me sob the first time around. Maybe it all doesn't matter that much. Maybe you can find peace in tragedy, for it happened all the same ...

And ... I do have to shoutout two Fanfics. If only because I always bawl like a bitch when I reread Sadlygrove's Istanbul & The Bosporus ... Those fanfics made me unpack something I carried with me for 5 years in therapy ... I can't do them dirty and not mention them.

From "Istanbul", we have: "He couldn't do it. It had been… almost two hundred years since he'd last set foot inside the palace. And it wasn't even a palace any longer, he shouldn't feel oppressed by it. Really, if he were honest with himself, he didn't feel that way--oppressed, that was. He felt… sad. Haunted. There were too many ghosts there, both pleasant and miserable. The pleasant ones were worse."

"And I ain't sorry for giving it to you."

Greece's heart began to hammer. "Did you ever actually love me as I am?" He already knew the truth. It was easier to forget it some days.

There was a long pause before Turkey gave him the closest thing to an answer Greece could have hoped for: "I will never let someone break my heart like you broke mine. Never again.""

I am sorry, but ... but ... I am close to tears just copying them. It resonates so well with me that the pleasant ghosts hurt so much worse than the miserable ones. And the dialogue, oh! OH! Nothing gets me like the "I know I hurt you. I know I hurt you when I loved you. But I also loved you and I will not deny that. I will not deny the pain and I will not deny the love. Both happened." Man fuck. I am crying again.

And there is also the end from "Mama Said Knock You Out" that lives in my head rentfree:

"For the first time in a long time, Sadiq tells the truth about himself: "No one's gonna love you like I do. Not now, not ever."

There was just the slightest hitch of breath: "I should certainly hope not. I doubt I could survive it.""

Mwah. Chef's kiss. If my TurGre Fanfiction "The Amulet" even only packs half as much punch as sadlygrove's does, I will die a happy and accomplished woman.

Oh, and how I found all of those ... Emilia Galotti we read in High School or whatever you wanna call Oberstufe, The Cicero Trilogy was mentioned by my Latin teacher when we did Cicero and my sister owned the first book. So I began reading it, stopped at some point but bought the entire trilogy in paperback just before I went to the Tagesklinik, aka ambulant psychiatry, for a few weeks. I first found Istanbul and Mama Said Knock You Out, because I liked A Persian Rug of No Importance so much ... Now, I usually only read porn and I avoided "Istanbul" like the plague because of the break-up tag ... knew my heart wouldn't be able to handle it ... and wouldn't you look at that, I was right! I bawled for hours after reading it and then had to talk about it the very same night in therapy.

Tomita Kazuhiko. Diseñador industrial y de producto.

Tomita Kazuhiko (1965, Nagasaki, Japón) se describe a sí mismo como un nómada errante entre el Este y el Oeste, y su trayectoria profesional y biográfica no hace más que confirmar esta teoría.

Como diseñador es capaz de construir nuevas marcas o de darles un nuevo giro, al aplicar su experiencia creativa en varios campos, desde el diseño gráfico hasta la arquitectura.

Tomita Kazuhiko estudió diseño industrial en la Universidad de Chiba en Japón (1989).

Posteriormente, en la década de 1990, gracias a una beca de Cassina & British Council, estudió diseño de muebles en el Royal College of Arts de Londres, donde se graduó en 1992.

Éste mismo año (1992) se mudó a la ciudad que es la meca del diseño industrial: Milán.

En 1993 diseñó la línea “Stars” de productos cerámicos en colaboración con Alessandro Mendini y Ettore Sottsass.

También en 1993 fundó el Studio 2.5-Dimensional Design (Milán) -que después se convertiría en Tomitadesign– empezando a presentar sus colecciones en ferias internacionales.

En el año 2000, se convirtió en director de Arte de la compañía COVO, y en este contexto, diseñó también la COVO Shop en la ciudad de Roma.

COVO, una marca con un ADN completamente italiano y raíces internacionales, combina elegancia con simplicidad, tradición y contemporaneidad, y clasicismo con diseño vanguardista.

En 2001 creó la colección de artículos de mesa “Rim” para Rörstrand, empresa de porcelana en Kungsholmen (Estocolmo, Suecia), junto con Vico Magistretti.<

Tomita Kazuhiko fue nombrado director de Arte de NUSSHA París en 2004, y desde entonces ha trabajado con varios fabricantes más, incluida por ejemplo, la empresa italiana Moroso.

  Las creaciones de Tomita Kazuhiko son lúdicas, pero a la vez prácticas.

Con una mirada cuidadosa y sensible que combina armoniosamente forma y contenido promueve, sin sacrificar nada a la funcionalidad, la investigación y la experimentación que va desde el uso hábil de los materiales hasta la selección previsora ​​de productores internacionales.

Su universo se encuadra dentro del arte y del estilo de vida tradicional japonés a la vez que convive con el concepto europeo de lo moderno. Sus ideas asumen el mismo objetivo, hacer artículos destinados a un uso global y prolongado que dure toda la vida.

Para Tomita Kazuhiko la reducción a lo que es importante y esencial es una característica del shintoismo japonés, donde según su teoría los objetos inanimados también contienen energía espiritual.

Así por ejemplo, la colección de mesas de sobremesa”UkiYo” (2006-2007) para Moroso, realizadas en resina de poliéster co-moldeada, están decoradas con los patrones utilizados en los kimonos tradicionales e inspirados en Ukiyo, un movimiento cultural japonés del siglo XVIII.

Relacionado con el realismo sintoísta, que establece que nada puede permanecer sin cambios durante mucho tiempo, la filosofía de este movimiento (Ukiyo) vive cada momento al máximo como una forma, curiosamente, de alcanzar la vida eterna.

Desde esta perspectiva, la floración se convierte en el período anual más alegre y radiante, donde se extiende por todas partes la máxima cantidad de energía. Sin embargo, nadie puede decir si la flor recién florecida seguirá viva un momento después.

Las tapas o sobres de estas mesitas -con finísimas patas de acero tubular acabado en polvo RAL 3003 rojo brillante- se pueden invertir y utilizar como bandejas.

Su trabajo se ha exhibido a nivel mundial, en ciudades como Tokio (exposición individual “2.5-Dimensional Design“, Ozone Gallery, 1999); en Jerusalén (“FUSION: Arquitectura + Diseño en Japón“, 2002, Museo de Israel); Nueva York (Exposición “COVO”, 2002, galería Totem SOHO) o en Milán (“RE-FUSION”, 2003).

También sus productos han entrado en los museos para quedarse, como los productos que diseñó para la marca Essential, que se han integrado en la colección permanente del Museo de Arte Moderno de Nueva York.

Tomita Kazuhiko es profesor visitante en Diseño Industrial en la Universidad de Roma.

Y ha ganado numerosos premios internacionales a lo largo de su carrera, como por ejemplo el primer premio en el concurso “El futuro arquitectónico del acero inoxidable” (Londres, 1991) por Sir Noman Foster.

He must have over 60 classical pieces alone on YouTube.

I am not an expert musician let alone a cellist. I first noticed the music of his cello. It must be of early vintage. Warm, with a different sound structure from currently produced cellos. Its sound is warmer, richer, and smoother.

Next is the whisper of his bow on the strings. It reminds me of an angel blowing gently over the strings. The music is tantalizing. Similar to a rich, smooth brandy.

I have always been a fan of Yo-Yo Ma. His music is precise and technically amazing. Hauser’s is that and more.

I am going to share a few more individual pieces of this concert and others.

Hauser also plays with Luka Sliač. Their group is “2Cellos”. At their first concert, they lit the world on fire with their performance of Michael Jackson’s “Smooth Criminal”. This performance went viral.

In the years since have been playing together their receipts are over $20 million. They took a two-year break but their style has to usurp the classical music world. They have rejoined in 2021 and are performing Bon Jovi’s “Livin on a Prayer”.

      LOS ANGELES (Jan. 09, 2018) — SAG-AFTRA President Gabrielle Carteris and SAG Awards® Committee Chair JoBeth Williams will reveal the honorees for Outstanding Action Performances by Film and Television Stunt Ensembles from the 24th Annual Screen Actors Guild Awards® red carpet, SAG Awards Executive Producer Kathy Connell announced today.

    Audiences can watch Carteris and Williams reveal the names during the first half-hour of PEOPLE, EW & TNT’s SAG Awards® Red Carpet Live pre-show, which will live-stream on tntdrama.com/sagawards , sagawards.org , People.com, PeopleTV.com, EW.com, InStyle.com and Time.com, beginning at 5:30 p.m. (ET) / 2:30 p.m. (PT).

         The Stunt Ensemble honors commend work within the stunt community during 2017 and recognize stunt performers and coordinators. Nominees chosen by their respective SAG Awards film and television nominating committees were announced on Dec. 13, 2017 by Olivia Munn (X-Men: Apocalypse, The Predator) and Niecy Nash (Claws, The Soul Man). Antwerp Symphony Orchestra Romeo en Julia vs West Side     Story

Zondag 19 november ben ik naar het antwerp symphony orchetra gaan luisteren in de  koning Elizabeth zaal in Antwerpen. Die zondag speelden ze stukken uit het wervelde ballet Romeo en Julia van Prokofjev en symfonische dansen uit Bernsteins New Yorkse Shakespeare-adaptatie West Side Story.

 Samen met een paar klasgenoten heb ik zondagmorgen de trein genomen naar Antwerpen. In de koningin Elizabethzaal werden we hartelijk verwelkomt met een gratis koffiekoek en een drankje. Na de korte introductie over de componist van het muziekstuk en een korte verwelkoming van de gastdirigent Elim Chan, kon het concert pas echt beginnen. Het concert begon met de muziekstukken van Prokofjev. Hij weet zeer goed het liefdesverdriet en het liefdesgeluk te laten weerklinken in zijn muziek. Zijn muziek bracht mij helemaal naar Verona 16e eeuw.  In sommige muziekstukken  konden we de intense liefde tussen Romeo en Julia voelen, terwijl in andere de harde klanken van de realiteit weerklonken. het gedeelte waarin de liefdesscene van Romeo en Julia centraal stond, sprak mij iets minder aan omdat ik de liefde en de passie niet tot in mijn binnenste doordrong. Het deel dat mij het meest heeft geraakt was het laatste stuk waar Romeo bij het graf van Julia staat en zelfmoord pleegt. Ik kon in de muziek de wanhoop en de radeloosheid van Romeo voelen. De laatste klanken weerspiegelden zijn tragische dood. In het tweede deel speelde het orkest stukken uit Bernsteins West Side Story. Dit verhaal gaat eveneens over die onmogelijke liefde, maar dan in een heel ander tijdperk. De muziek van Berstein bracht mij helemaal naar New York in de jaren 50. Deze muziek klonk iets moderner en bevatte eerder jazz elementen. Ze gaven mij de neiging om mee te beginnen dansen op de klanken van de muziek. Het fijne aan deze muziek was dat ze heel herkenbaar is en je ze overal te wereld kan spelen. Net zoals bij Prokofjev voelde en hoorde je in sommige stukken de liefde tussen de twee openbloeien, maar in andere stukken weerklonken dan weer de ruzies en gevechten tussen de twee bendes. Ook het orkest heeft deze stukken prachtig uitgevoerd, hun energie en enthousiasme tilde het hele stuk naar een hoger niveau. Je kon echt zien dat deze mensen met hart en ziel muziek maken. De gastdirigente Elim Chan heeft zich ook volledig gesmeten en ze heeft ze muzikanten zo veel mogelijk bijgestaan. De klanken van al die instrumenten samen waren gewoon onbeschrijfelijk. Het gevoel dat die muziek mij gaf was ongelofelijk. Ik kon het tot diep vanbinnen voelen.  Persoonlijk vond ik de muziek van Bernstein iets beter, deze raakte mij net iets dieper dan die van Prokofjev. Al kan dit misschien liggen aan het feit dat deze muziek iets ouder is. In de trein terug naar Halle zat ik steeds met een melodietje van het stuk in mijn hoofd terwijl ik naar buiten keek. Net zoals die melodie zal het concert mij nog lang bijblijven en ik ben zeker dat ik nog eens een klassiek concert zal bijwonen.

Informatie over prokefjevs ballet Romeo en Julia

De Russische componist Sergej Prokofjev (1891-1953) bezocht het conservatorium van Sint Petersburg, waar hij ondermeer lessen ontving van de hoog aangeschreven componist Nicolai Rimski-Korsakov. Zoals zo velen verliet Prokofjev tijdens de revolutie zijn vaderland en maakte furore met piano-optredens in het westen en Japan. In 1933 ging Prokofjev nieuwe banden aan met zijn geboorteland. Met zijn vrouw, een Spaanse zangeres vestigde hij zich in Moskou. Al snel ontving hij de opdracht om balletmuziek te maken bij Romeo en Julia. De Grote Zuivering leidde er echter toe dat het ballet werd afgekeurd. (Levende mensen kunnen dansen, dode mensen niet…) In 1938 werd het stuk tenslotte in het repertoire opgenomen door het Bolsjoj-Theater.

Romeo en Julia uit 1935, op dit beroemde verhaal van William Shakespeare zijn vele muziekwerken gebaseerd, waaronder elf opera’s van onder andere: Gounod, Bellini en Bernstein (Westside story). Andere componisten die zich met dit liefdesdrama bezig hielden waren onder andere: Berlioz, Tsjaikovski en Prokofjev. Deze laatste componist schreef maar liefst drie suites op basis van de balletmuziek. Er bestaat eveneens een bewerking voor piano solo. Een zeer geliefd deel is de Dans van de ridders.

Wat hebben de twee geliefden Romeo en Julia niet allemaal moeten doorstaan? En hoe treffend heeft Sergej Prokofjev het liefdesgeluk en liefdesleed verklankt. Het ene moment luisteren we naar zeer romantische muziek en het andere moment klinken genadeloos ruwe klanken. Zou dit laatste met de ruzies en scheldpartijen van de twee families te maken hebben? In ieder geval moesten de Russische autoriteiten in beginsel weinig van het stuk hebben en schorsten de uitvoering eenvoudigweg.

In het orkest zijn verschillende instrumenten opgenomen die niet standaard in een symfonie orkest voorkomen: saxofoon, mandoline, cornet.

Informatie over Bernsteins West Side Story

De Operatic Trap 

Kort na zijn première schreef Bernstein over de lange duur van de conceptie en de geboorte van de show: "Alle peering en ondraaglijke pijn en uitstel en re-re-rewriting blijken de moeite waard te zijn geweest." Een deel van die ondraaglijke pijn was de beslissing om 'geen zangers te casten': alles wat professioneler klonk zou onvermijdelijk meer ervaren klinken, en dan zou de 'kid'-kwaliteit verdwenen zijn.'

Toch, in 1949, sprak Bernstein de vrees uit van 'het maken van een musical die een tragisch verhaal vertelt in termen van muzikale komedie ... nooit in de' operatic'-valkuil terechtkomt 'Die val moet de bankschroef (maar ook de bankschroef) van vocale pyrotechniek zijn voor zijn eigen bestwil, zonder het verhaal naar voren te brengen.

Bernstein vermijdt die valstrik in WSS. Een van de meest operatische momenten is bijvoorbeeld het duet tussen Anita en Maria: A Boy Like That / I Have a Love. Deze ontknoping is, in de woorden van Stearns: "Anita's noodlottige verandering van loyaliteit waaruit de rest van het drama zich ontvouwt." Bernstein evolueert het ene lied uit het andere door een soort muzikale legerdemain. Dus wanneer Anita fulmineert tegen de moorden, horen we wat de welsprekendheid van Maria zal worden, met precies dezelfde toonhoogtes en bijna hetzelfde ritme. Het zaad is uitgegroeid tot toren boven de grond waarin het was geplant.

Hoewel er hoop is in WSS, is er ook wanhoop, en dit wordt ook weerspiegeld, in muzikale termen. Door de hele score heen wordt het interval van het triton prominent weergegeven. (Theoretici uit het verleden hebben het triton Diabolus in musica (Duivel in de muziek) de bijnaam gegeven. Het werd beschouwd als het meest "gevaarlijke" interval. Zijn onstabiele, rootloze kwaliteit (C, bijvoorbeeld, tot F # bestaat uit drie hele stappen, vandaar : tritone) was de perfecte muzikale distillatie van de onstabiele relatie tussen Tony en Maria, en voor de rootlessness, en de resulterende meedogenloosheid, van de Jet en Shark bendes.

Careers

Bernstein zei ooit dat de show niet "afhankelijk kon zijn van sterren, omdat het om kinderen ging." Honderden jonge hoopvolle mensen deden auditie voor de originele productie. Van de veertig 'kinderen' die de banen hebben geland - voor de meesten, hun debuut op Broadway - zijn veel mensen naar een groot aantal showbusiness (of gerelateerde) activiteiten gegaan. Misschien waren niet al hun wegen naar grotere glorie, maar zonder WSS hadden hun carrières waarschijnlijk aanzienlijk langer geduurd om te bloeien. Bovendien bleven sommigen van hen relaties onderhouden met hun WSS-collega's op persoonlijke en / of professionele basis.

De meest verbazingwekkende carrière die vanuit de WSS-pad werd gelanceerd, was die van tekstdichter Stephen Sondheim, door velen beschouwd als de belangrijkste componist-tekstdichter van onze tijd. Als er een inheemse Amerikaanse operastijl van vandaag bestaat, moet Sondheim als zijn standaarddrager worden beschouwd. De opera-innovaties geïntroduceerd door het creatieve kwartet WSS: bredere songdimensies, gelijktijdigheden in complexe contrapunt, enz. Werden koren op de molen van Sondheim.

Symphonic Dances Form West Side Story werd op 13 februari 1961 in première gebracht door het New York Philharmonic, maar de dirigent was Lukas Foss. Bernstein werd een jaar na de opening van WSS benoemd tot Music Director van het Philharmonic, en hoewel hij later de Dances met het orkest uitvoerde en opnam, heeft hij nooit voorafgaand aan de opname in 1985 een uitvoering van de show uitgevoerd. (Hij was in de put om de zogenaamde Overture - een compilatie van de nummers die niet door hem gemaakt waren - uit te voeren voor een van de vroege oplevingen van Broadway). Maar waarom zou iemand wiens carrière zo gediversifieerd is, zich concentreren op één allesverslindend project, een Broadway-run? Bernstein heeft ook nooit een live-theatervoorstelling van zijn Candide, Wonderful Town of MASS uitgevoerd.

Zijn opname van On The Town, lang na zijn première gemaakt met onder meer drie van de originele castleden, is het eerste showalbum dat ooit door zijn componist op de plaat is gezet. Maar een historische eerste moet nog voorkomen in de annalen van opgenomen Broadway-musicals: een volledig origineel gegoten album uitgevoerd door de componist.

Ed Annink. Diseñador gráfico, de productos, curador y docente.

Ed Annink (1956, Utrecht – 2012, Amsterdam, Holanda) fue muy activo en diseño gráfico, ambiental y de muebles, donde se distinguió por la nitidez de sus proyectos, la poesía de su enfoque y la funcionalidad de sus productos.

De 1976 a 1978 Ed Annink estudió en la Escuela de Orfebrería en Schoonhoven.

De 1980 a 1985 siguió su formación como diseñador de muebles en la Real Academia de Arte y Diseño en La Haya, graduándose Cum Laude en el departamento de Diseño de Muebles y Arquitectura Interior.

Ed Annink fue cofundador y director creativo del estudio holandés Ontwerpwerk y realizó numerosos trabajos como director de arte y curador.

Creó productos para el mercado de consumo internacional con marcas como: Droog; Driade; Authentics; Royal VKB; Purple South; Kwantum y Nexus.

Siempre combinó la actividad del diseñador de productos, exposiciones y eventos con su papel como consultor y asesor para muchos institutos de diseño en los Países Bajos y en otras partes del mundo.

Pero Annink siempre involucró a otros y también buscó el contacto con diseñadores amigos y contemporáneos -en su mayoría diseños únicos o de pequeña producción- dentro de la gama del diseño holandés más radicalmente innovador.

En 1985 el Centraal Museum de Utrecht invitó a Annink a establecer una Sala/habitación de estilo posmoderno.

Ed Annink diseñó muchos de los objetos que expuso en esta sala, donde colocó un enorme espejo. Los visitantes se veían a sí mismos y a la vez los objetos también se veían reflejados.

Diseñó el piso, la mesa y el aparador; y en el medio de la habitación había un aspirador naranja esférico, como si el residente acabara de salir de la habitación.

Ed Annink agregó dos sillas del siglo XVIII de la colección del museo para indicar que cada diseño puede ser intemporal y atemporal.

Esta habitación es característica de la forma de trabajar de Annink. Sorprendente y alegre, es a la vez un incentivo para pensar/reflexionar sin ser pedante ya que “el diseño no puede florecer sin discusión y diálogo“.

A raíz de su muerte, a partir del 13 de octubre de 2012, esta sala se volvió a exhibir durante algunas semanas.

Gracias a la iniciativa de Ed Annink se publicaron libros, se organizaron exposiciones y se hicieron accesibles al público muchos archivos del patrimonio cultural holandés.

En abril de 2002 publicó el libro “Annink, designer” en Milán, y en septiembre de 2003 “Mentes brillantes, bellas ideas” fue el título del libro y la exposición comisariada por Annink para Experimentadesign biënnale en Lisboa, donde se combinaron las obras de Bruno Munari; Charles y Ray Eames; Martí Guixé y Jurgen Bey.

“Este título simboliza su entusiasmo e iniciativas“, dicen desde Ontwerpwerk, el estudio de diseño cofundado por Annink.

Fue co-fundador y presidente de los productos de la Fundación de la Imaginación, que iniciaba y organizaba proyectos de diseño y publicaciones internacionales.

Dirigió talleres internacionales para Vitra Design Museum y fue director del Máster de experiencia y diseño de escenarios funlab en el Design Academy of Eindhoven.

La última vez que Annink trabajó para el Centraal Museum de Utrecht tuvo lugar en el contexto de la segunda edición del “Manifiesto de Utrecht” en 2007-2008.

Como superintendente, fue responsable del contenido -junto con Max Bruinsma– de la exhibición de la obra de Gerd Arntz y Otto Neurath.

Uno de sus proyectos más recientes fue “Design Den Haag 2010-2018“, un programa de diez años para promover el diseño en la formulación de políticas europeas, consiguiendo forjar vínculos entre el diseño y el gobierno en Europa.

Esta investigación fue una de las muchas misiones de Ed Annink que, con su energía y generosidad constantes, pudo conectar diferentes mundos.

Ed Annink creó el programa de exposiciones para la primera edición en 2010 (en Den Haag y Berlín).

Para Max Bruinsma (crítico de diseño, curador y editor) Ed Annink era: “Alegre, juvenil, social, creativo y lleno de energía, Ed Annink fue un gran colega y amigo para muchos en el mundo del diseño holandés“.

Según Bruinsman tenía (al menos) dos talentos aparentemente opuestos; era un visionario apasionado y un gerente estricto. Una combinación rara, ciertamente en el campo cultural.

“Una de las muchas cosas que admiro en Ed es que él no solo tenía estas dos personalidades, sino que podía conectarlas de manera muy productiva. El hombre apasionado de ideas y el gerente enfocado asociaba lo lúdico y una logística sin fisuras“.

Enrico Franzolini. Artista, arquitecto y diseñador industrial.

Enrico Franzolini (1952, Udine, Italia) estudió en Florencia y se graduó en arquitectura en la Universidad de Venecia en 1979.

Enrico Franzolini comenzó su carrera como artista plástico (investigaciones pictóricas) que le llevaron a tomar parte en varias exposiciones -individuales y colectivas- en exhibiciones y galerías de arte en la década de 1970.

En 1972 fue invitado a la 36ª Bienal de Artes Decorativas en Venecia, donde exhibió dos objetos producidos por la manufactura de vidrio Livio Seguso en Murano.

En 1978, su primera exposición individual en la Galería Plurima de Udine, marcó el comienzo de su interés por la arquitectura, pero al mismo tiempo también se interesó por el diseño de interiores y de producto.

Al igual que Magistretti y muchos otros diseñadores en Italia, Enrico Franzolini ha estado activo en todo el espectro de campos creativos, desde las bellas artes hasta la arquitectura y las diversas prácticas relacionadas con la artesanía.

Utiliza una gran variedad de materiales: madera, metal y todas las variedades de plástico, tanto a pequeña como a gran escala.

La integridad y la definición de los proyectos junto con una calidad estética muy precisa y refinada son elementos fundamentales de cada proyecto.

En 1993, su proyecto para una casa privada recibió menciones honoríficas y ganó el Premio Piranesi.

Como diseñador industrial, ha colaborado durante años con muchos fabricantes de prestigio en la industria del mueble, como Casamilano; Moroso; Gervasoni; Cappellini; Crassevig; Knoll International; Montina; Pallucco; Alias; Foscarini, o Accademia.

Entre sus obras arquitectónicas destacan las oficinas de Calligaris en Manzano; el R.I.F. Edificio de oficinas; Mercedes Crysler Jeep Showroom Buiding en Udine y Pordenone; Tower and Shopping Centre Antivari en Udine; el edificio de oficinas Potocco en Manzano Udine y algunas casas privadas en Vittorio Veneto.

En 1991 fue galardonado con el primer premio en la competencia Top Ten en Promosedia Intenational Fair en Udine.

En 1993, su colección “Light Box” se exhibió por primera vez en Udine en la Galería Plurima, luego fue presentada por Cappellini en 1994 en el Salone del Mobile de Milán.

En 1999 recibió una mención honorífica en el Triennale Compasso d’Oro Prize de Milán por la silla “Asia“, diseñada para Crassevig. En 2005, la silla “Lagoa“, diseñada para Accademia, ganó el Reddot Design Award.

También trabajó en la planificación conceptual de varias exposiciones que tuvieron lugar en el Museo de la Iglesia S. Francesco en Udine: la exposición “Mosaico” en 1997, la exposición “Le arti a Udine in ‘900” y “L’antico a nuovo” en 2001.

Junto con Vicente García Jiménez firmó para Foscarini la lámpara “Big Bang“, una explosión de planos cruzados de la que se desprende una forma de iluminación completamente inédita.

La lámpara de suspensión “Big Bang” es una explosión de planos que se entrecruzan -caos y geometría- creando una arquitectura de superficies, luces y sombras, de gran efecto arquitectónico y escenográfico.
