Luis Mandoki – 1999. Message In A Bottle is a well composed romantic-drama. The central casting of Kevin Costner, Robin Wright Penn and Paul Newman is a good one and this helps keep the film afloat when threatens to slip into a sea of melodrama. Gaby: A True Story (1987). The life of Gaby Brimmer, a girl physically handicapped, who finally gets her goals of study and triumph.

Hmmmmmm. Not sure I have many thoughts on this film beyond that, tbh. It's probably what you'd expect from a 1980s film tackling disability / cerebral palsey in that it's overall shallow and messy, although seems to be well-meaning. It's Not Great, Bob. 3/10.

The French film composer Gabriel Yared (of Lebanese descent) his written a fine orchestral score for this movie with shipbuilder Kevin Costner, Robin Wright and the grumpy father Paul Newman.

Some people wonder why Hollywood needs a Frenchman to score such movies but that’s actually a very easy question to answer: Yared’s talent is such that he’s an OK choice for “The English Patient” (he won an Oscar for that soundtrack), “Cold Mountain” with Nicole Kidman and “The Talented Mr. Ripley”.
