Yeah Okay
Fictional Women:
Alice (Alice's Adventure's in Wonderland) (Honorable Mention to Ariel from The Little Mermaid)
Alyx (Half-Life)
Beverly (It)
Biologist/Ghost Bird (Annihilation/Area X: The Southern Reach Trilogy)
Catherine (SOMA) (Honorable Mention to Tasi from Amnesia: Rebirth)
Heather (Silent Hill) (Honorable Mention to Angela)
Katran (Myst)
Lara (Tomb Raider)
Laura (Twin Peaks) (Honorable Mention to Lucy)
Samus (Metroid) (Honorable Mention to Princess Peach from Super Mario)
Bonus: Velma (Scooby-Doo!) (Honorable Mention to Daphne)
Real women:
I have five sisters in real life so I'm kind of cheating when it comes to naming ten real life women I like. But I guess I'll go out of my way to disregard family members, and I'll even assume friends don't count either.
Eartha Kitt (the actress, musician)
Emma Watson (the actress)
Jaiden (Animations) Dittfach (the YouTuber, animator)
Jamie Lee Curtis (the actress)
Jennell Jaquays (the artist/illustrator, video game designer)
Jennette McCurdy (the filmmaker, author, actress)
Mary Shelley (the author)
Peggy Lee (the musician, actress)
Rebecca Ann Heineman (programmer, author)
Sarah (PushingUpRoses) Wilson (the YouTuber)
Bonus: Zendaya (the actress, musician)
I'm not doing this to like, flex, or something, but to demonstrate that like, if you think you CAN'T make a list like this, then (1) you probably can, if you search through your life and your interests enough, (2) you really ought to highlight those women in your life (real and fictional) more in the day to day, and (3) you probably should still try to learn more about and expose yourself to more women, in real life, in your studies, and in your fiction.
And I'm not even perfect or anything! A lot of those fictional women are like, from stuff I consumed as a literal child. And the vast majority of them are white (or light-skinned), which is a whole other blind spot of mine!
Lastly, I know this is a tangent, but if you'll permit me, I wanted to share some fundraisers on the behalf of just two different women trying to survive with their families, amid the ongoing destruction of Palestine. These women are:
Safaa Al Khatib
Shymaa Taiser
Both of their fundraisers are vetted/verified(x 👈), and they both have a ways to go before reaching their respective goals, with donations currently coming few and far between. If you have anything at all that you can spare, please do. You can make a difference and help these women and their families reach safety and stability today.
Name ten female characters you like, you get zapped if it's jsut a male character you call a babygirl or other feminine nicknames because I can't see people calling Lestat coquette again
#i mentioned a lot of shit so here come the tags i hope you're ready#alice in wonderland#princess ariel#half life#beverly marsh#stephen king#southern reach series#soma#tasi trianon#amnesia rebirth#heather mason#alessa gillespie#silent hill#sh2#silent hill 3#cheryl mason#d'ni#lara croft#laura palmer#lucy moran#twin peaks#samus aran#princess peach#velma dinkley#si(o)s

NEW CHAPTER ONLINE on AO3 - CHAPTER 14
I can't say it enough...and I'll say it again before every chapter...thanks to Cookies93 for beta reading. The chapter is always much better afterwards.
So, we're still in the week-long dating era between episode 5x10 and 5x11. I can reveal one thing. I have completed Chapter 24. And here we are in 5x11. So, you still have a lot to read and I hope you continue to do so and enjoy it.
I don't know if I'll be able to stick to the one-day update schedule until the end of the story. I'll try it. It's quite a lot of work and spend hours writing. And sometimes things go more smoothly and the chapter almost writes itself. And sometimes you hang. I'm a little stuck right now. Maybe because I have to incorporate 5x11. I always find it easier when I can write freely. But it will be okay. And then I popped up another story in my brain and it almost wrote itself. That's why I simply wrote 13,000 words on this one in the last two days. And that's really a lot. But this will only be available once Secret Datin Era is finished. One after another. All I can say is that it will be tearful. I have to cry while writing this.

Sneak Peak after the link
_____
Tim is standing in his bathroom, about to hang up his towel to dry after his shower. He really had forgotten about the basketball match against the LAFD. This was clearly because his only thought was about finally seeing Lucy after spending the last two evenings separately. He had completely forgotten that it was the first Thursday of the month. And as much as he enjoys playing basketball with the boys, he would have loved to meet Lucy instead.
At least they won the game. And Gillespie was right. If the firefighters had won, it would have been a shame for the LAPD team. As usual, they celebrated with some beer alongside the LAFD guys – since it’s tradition.
Throughout the day, he has exchanged several text messages with Lucy. As expected, Lucy had sent the first message right after their lunch break, and she had to hit a nerve, of course.
He goes into his bedroom and puts on a T-shirt and his pajama pants, then lies down on the bed, takes his phone and starts reading through all the messages again with a huge grin on his face.
Lucy: You forgot your 🏀 -match? 🤣
Tim: I was confused when the garbage bins were collected one day later than usual. Basketball day is always two days after paper waste collection day.
Lucy: Of course 🤥
Tim: What are implying?
Lucy: Nothing. What are you implying???
Tim: You're driving me crazy!
Lucy: I know 😉
Tim: That's not what I meant.
Lucy: Oh yes it was! It was!
Tim: Texting with you is no fun.
Lucy: Miss you 😘 Better?
Tim: For a start. Still a bit skimpy.
Lucy: Miss you a lot ❤️
Tim: Better, but still room for improvement
Lucy: Uh oh Bradford. Slow down.

would u do the first impressions for one Mrs Mina Harker
First Impression:
My first encounter with Dracula was the Francis Ford Coppola film which...that Mina is kind of a mess let's be real. Also don't love the Dracula connection she has. (I hate that film on its own and as an adaptation...)
impression now:
She may be one of the best heroines in literary history. No lie she reminds me very much of Alessa Gillespie from Silent Hill. I would die for her.
Favorite Moment:
When she's under Dracula's control and fighting it every moment. Her moments of lucidity were wrenching and the whole episode is so harrowing
Idea for a story:
I know Mina and Van Helsing teaming up to fight supernatural creatures up and down Europe is shlocky and has been done hundreds of times...but that's because it's a fucking great premise
Unpopular opinion:
Sorry women but I don't really like Mina/Lucy. They are literally besties, I see nothing other than a wonderful friendship
Favorite relationship:
Mina and Jonathan are literally goals 💖💖💖 Particularly when Jonathan returns to England and is suffering from PTSD from Dracula. Mina does her best to help him and they're both determined not to let this massive devastating situation drive them apart 🥰
Favorite headcanon:
Mina refuses to make that paprika chicken dish because it upsets Jonathan's stomach every time
#thank you for letting me yap about Mina bestie 💖💖💖#i need to reread Dracula...maybe after my current read :3

Happy Birthday actor Tommy Flanagan who turns 58 today.
Flanagan was born in Eaterhouse, Glasgow on July 3rd 1965, the former painter and decorator got into acting after a stint DJ'ing and a violent episode which left him with his distinctive scars, he was randomly attacked outside a Glasgow bar, slashed horribly and robbed.
His friend Robert Carlyle then persuaded him to join him with his theatre company, Raindog Theatre, but it was not an overnight success for either of them as Flannagan admitted in an interview neither of them ha “a pot to piss in” he remembers “touring the Highlands in this old blue Transit van, but it had a broken window. It was so freezing inside, one of us had to hold a piece of cardboard up to stop the wind coming in.”
Two years later, he, and almost every other actor in Scotland, appeared in Braveheart. But Flanagan stood out. Mel Gibson told him to come to America. A year later, the Scot did, but the journey west was more about being with his then wife Rachel, an American film producer. Rachel, was from San Diego and he followed her home.
Of course Tommy had appeared in a couple of things beforehand, the obligatory Taggart being the standout, but it was after the William Wallace romp that he got noticed, Rab C Nesbit, A Mugs Game and The Saint followed that, of The Saint, he confirms something I assumed for a few years "Val Kilmer is a prick”.
Tommy got roles in Face Off , The Game and Plunkett & Macleane before the excellent Ratcatcher, set in 1970’s Glasgow and written and directed by fellow Glaswegian Lynne Ramsay, Flanagan plays the main part’s Da, George Gillespie, if you haven’t seen it do so, it’s a great film. One person who agrees with me about Ratcatcher is actress Drew Barrymore, who had seen Tommy in the film and called him up and offered him a part, of the film Tommy admits “You get to have your ass kicked by Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu and Drew Barrymore. What’s bad about that?” Who gave you the best ass-kicking? “That’d be Lucy.”
Among Tommy’s other films are Trauma, Smoking Aces and Sin City, he was making a steady living in Hollywood but it wasn’t until the part of Filip ‘Chibs’ Telford in Sons of Anarchy in 2008 that people started recognising him for his acting, rather than the glesga guy in the films with scar, he is also an occasional face in the spin off Mayans MC.
The series was an international hit. But Flanagan had mixed feelings about the role. His character was called Chibs, for a start. Flanagan didn’t miss the irony; he’d gone to Hollywood to forget the worst memories of Glasgow life and was playing the sort of creature who’d attacked him.
Flanagan admits to previously playing up to the hard man characters he portrays, but his wild days have been behind him since meeting Dina his second wife, they have been married for 12 years now and they have a daughter together.
Tommy has recently appeared in the TV series’, Westworld and Wu Assassins which are on Sky Atlantic and Netflix respectively. We also seen him in the movie There Are No Saints, teaming up with SOA co-star Ron Perlman and fellow Scot Brian Cox, I wasn’t impressed with the film, but if you like action and gore you might want to give it a go.
I have been more impressed with Tommy in the latest instalments of the Power Book series, where protagonist Tommy Egan heads for Chicago and pits his wits against Walter Flynn, played by Flanagan. The series can be viewed as a stand alone, or you can go back and watch the beginnings in Power, which ran from 2014 to 2020.
Tommy will be back with season two of the gangster saga which is premiering on September 1st. Tommy has two movie projects set for next year, Road Movie Casey and Mary and Sleeping Dogs.

Good morning! I hope you slept well and feel rested? Currently sitting at my desk, in my study, attired only in my blue towelling robe, enjoying my first cuppa of the day. Welcome to the weekend!
Wow! Here we are again: Friday! Where did that week go? No, seriously, where did that week go?
Apologies if you didn’t see yesterday’s status. It was posted, as usual, but it contained a term that some people don’t like, so I expect some sad weakling reported my post and it shifted on to a lower rotation. Poor little, fragile people that can’t handle social comment. What can you do but feel sorry for them?
As planned, I went for my walk yesterday. I could hear my body saying to me, “What the f*ck is going on here? Exercise? You haven’t done this in ages, ya fat bastard!” Nevertheless, it was much needed and it stretched muscles that needed stretching! As the cliché goes, use it before you lose it! If you don’t do some kind of exercise, your body literally seizes up! People in static, sit-down jobs shrink over time.
Yesterday was my favourite singer’s birthday. I’ve never seen Chaka Khan live but I did get a chance to interview her in 1982. She was in London promoting her ‘Chaka Khan’ album, a brilliant set featuring the epic ‘Be Bop Medley’, a vocal version of jazz tracks by John Coltrane, Dizzy Gillespie, Charlie Parker and Thelonious Monk. A track such as this tells you what Chaka is and always has been about, the original black music genres. Remember, Yvette Marie Stevens was originally a member of the black panther movement. She tolerates white people. You have to be somebody really special like David ‘Hawk’ Wolinksi (composer of ‘Ain’t Nobody’) to impress her. She was also quick to assert that she wasn’t some kind of fly-by-night, disposable soul singer and that, to her, the art was more important than the money. She even uttered the immortal line, “I’d rather read a book than have sex!” If she’d only recorded music with Rufus, I’d still be in awe of her, but then she went on to a killer catalogue of solo material. Sadly, my two-hour tributes are gone!
Which leads us nicely on to Mixcloud, who have STILL not resolved my situation. Thus my March 11th show is STILL ‘restricted’ for no good reason. If that sh*t happens again this week, I will be finding a new platform for my shows.
Remember, in 2023, the clocks go forward on 26 March at 1.00 a.m. in the UK. The clocks change on the last Sunday of March, moving forward by one hour. There may still be a chill in the air but this marks the beginning of British Summer Time (BST). To clarify, at 1.00 a.m. THIS Sunday morning (one hour past midnight), the clocks immediately become 2.00 a.m. and we lose an hour.
Really hope you can join me tomorrow at 1.00 p.m. for The Letter M (Pt. 3). Executive Producer: Kate Cardenas. Next week’s show is already scheduled (Executive Producer: Lucy Gill) and I will be sending second-time producer Marion Headman the pick list over the weekend. Yes, some people found the experience very pleasurable!
Have a fabulous and funky Friday! I love you all. You’re probably thinking, “You don’t even know me!” but, if people can hate for no reason, why can’t I love?
