Prompts by @/cincinnatisix in the Alterhuman Community. It’s very much about to be crossposted but I figure there’s not enough hearthome stuff out there to only post it in one place.

1) What is your hearthome? Is it a fictional world, a biome, a country, a town, a concept, or something else?

It’s Isla Nublar. Both the overgrown, abandoned park, and a version of the park that opened (though I can’t say I pine for the treatment of the animals in both Jurassic Park and World).

2) How did you come to realize you had a hearthome?

Around the same time I realised I’m a dinosaur, and discovered more of the alterhuman community, but I have always had an affinity for places that humans made and nature took over. Places like that give me the same sort of bittersweet feeling that looking at fossils inspires.

3) Is your hearthome tied to any other alterhuman identities you have? If so, did one identity lead to another?

As above, my dinosaurness and my hearthome are inextricably linked. Things that give me vibes for one usually give me vibes for the other.

4) Is your hearthome possible to physically visit? If so, have you been, or are you planning to go? If not, do you have any alternative methods of visiting?

Sort of? Not really. As far as I know, the Universal theme parks still have JW themed rides and areas, but going there isn’t really in my price range, and I’m not a big fan of rollercoasters so even if it was I’m not sure it’d be worth it.

There’s a few Jurassic Park themed video games that scratch the itch for me, though I’d rather be the dinosaur in those scenarios. The Isle has the right vibes, though I don’t enjoy the gameplay all that much.

There’s a map in Secondlife that’s themed after Jurassic Park, and I do enjoy roaming there as a dinosaur. Unfortunately, it is usually just me, since I don’t live in the right timezone to see many other people.

The tl;dr here is there’s lots of imperfect ways for me to spend time in and around my hearthome. Perhaps one day someone’ll come up with a way that’s perfect for me, but for now, I’m grateful to have ways to visit at all.

5) Write at least one paragraph describing what it’s like to be at your hearthome.

The smell of green in your lungs. The tang of rust in the water. Every so often there’s a break in untouched jungle. Something so artificial the plants couldn’t consume it entirely. This is where memories live.

The roar of the crowd. A world small enough to know every part of it intimately. The static hum of electricity always in your ears. Others beyond the fence, heard but never seen.

6) Do you feel ties to other living things from your hearthome, such as plants and animals?

Sort of. Ferns and moss and climbers most people keep as pot plants make dino brain happy. I’m not sure how much of that is hearthome and how much is just liking those sorts of plants, though. A bit of both, perhaps.

7) How do you cope with feeling homesick?

I’m lucky in that I don’t feel that too often. When I do, I find the best way is to take myself for a walk. Doesn’t always work, but I find quite often that going out and looking at some green stuff makes my brain unlatch from whatever unhelpful/hurtful thing it’s got a hold of.

8) Say one thing you like about the place you live right now.

It’s very prehistoric feeling, all mosses and ferns and pines and things. I imagine it’s probably why I enjoy walking around here.

⛩️ Shrines of Little Yoshiwara ⛩️

Hello!

In this post, I'll go through the shrines that can be found at Little Yoshiwara Sim (https://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Milarepa/78/117/44)

The largest shrine (that is actually a complex of shrines) is Amaterasu Omikami Grand Shrine. Here you will find shrines to Amaterasu Omikami, Ame-No-Uzume, and Susanoo-No-Mikoto.

In order: Shrines of Amaterasu Omikami, Ame-No Uzume, and Susanoo-No-Mikoto.

The second largest Shrine is that dedicated to Inari Okami. This shrine is especially popular for festivals and to draw Omikuji.

Besides the stone kitsune found all over the shrine, you may sometimes find a few live foxes sneaking around if you're lucky!

The third largest is Hachiman Shrine, popular amongst the Samurai population on the sim. Doves are known to flock to its prime location, near the top of a serene waterfall.

Next is Izanagi Shrine. Even though it is fairly small, this shrine is very important as it is where many purification ceremonies are done.

Next is a small shrine to Takemikazuchi, Kami of Thunder and a Sword Kami, who fought one of the very first Sumo fights. I have never heard of a Sumo match at L.Yoshiwara, but I would love to see that! It is opposite of the Theater, I wonder if there is any reason in particular for that.... If you know, please do share!

Finally is the Tsukuyomi Shrine. It is more of a Hokora (Roadside shrine), but it is in a beautiful residential area, with a bench nearby and an Apiary behind it. I often find myself coming here on busy nights for peace and quiet.
