Kill Your Darlings is undeniably a dark academia movie, but it’s academic the way Taco Bell is Mexican food.
I’m talking plagiarism, skipping class, vandalizing classics, rejecting popular literature, and spending more time talking about writing something than actually writing it. It’s beautiful.

3, 10, and 19 for the ask game! 🥰
3. how would you describe your writing style? I don't know actually. I was never really a creative writing person in that I didn't take any classes and I came up writing for academia, so sometimes I feel like I sound too...clinical? Like I'm trying to describe my findings. But like, in a YA setting?
10. top three favorite fic tropes- idiots to lovers to write, but to read I really like rivals or enemies to lovers and I also love the best friends trope, too.
19. share a snippet from a WIP without giving any context.
“A Seer,” Lucien repeated, eyes glassy as he contemplated this. “You saw fathers death?”
Elain had seen something, though whether Beron died or Lucien and his brothers did, she couldn’t say. Lucien saw it on her face, too.“You’re uncertain.” “The whole future is uncertain. Some decisions haven’t been made yet,” Elain told him defensively. “Or, they hadn’t when I saw the vision.” “If I asked you to look now…?” “Maybe,” she agreed, shrugging casually. “If you’re going to treat me like your equal and not an ornament that is only good for display.” Raking a broad hand through his wind-tangled hair, Lucien said, “You just don’t understand.”

Whew so I had some trouble figuring what a modern day Tam would look/ act like so the first idea was a school delinquent au
Tumblr media
Where he got into a lot of fights but it felt iffy. Then I remembered the dirty poetry and his love of the fiddle and got the dark academia au
Tumblr media
He gets sent to a boarding school with Lucien (for fighting others, mainly Luciens brothers.) and strange things start to happen so they have to investigate. Well in one of these investigations they run into the art student Feyre who's also looking to uncover the school's secrets because she thinks she sees the ghost of her mother who was once headmistress before a mysterious accident took her life.

Lucien Vanserra in academia core⁉️⁉️
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bro would be a MENACE to the dark academia core school (he's actually not failing and getting people). I had this is in my drafts for finishing for MONTHS bc ofschool and I wanted to get it done. The last pic is directlyfrom my tablet to phone (since the colors always getscrewed up and then I have to change it recently). I hope Ican do more stuff for this and my other fandom accounts in the New Year!
With that being said, not being able to draw is pretty lowon the list of things that should happen (like a ceasefire inP@lestine and an end to the g3nOcide in COngo and West P@pau and a bunch of other things), and I think one of the biggest parts is getting educated, so keep followingaccounts that are (like accounts that are on the ground inG@z@). I hope EVERYONE has a good year in 2024 andthe world will be at peace.
[Image I.D start: The first image is of Lucien Vanserra with his hair down. His scar and golden eye is across the left side of his face so right side of the viewer. It is curly in this version. He is wearing a dark green sweater vest over a white button up shirt. He is also wearing dark brown pants. He is looking to someone off camera while facing forward with a smirk and his eyebrow raises and his hand in his pocket and leg. He stands next to a tall library bookcase and there are are two tables and a large bookcase and railing to an upper floor of a library in the background. The background is blurred. A ray of golden sunlight shines down on Lucien. End Image I.D.]

Hi Gigi, I hope you are having a sunny Lucien Day. I see that you sometimes... well that your blog is a safe space when life gets a little too much.. I am an only child and I feel like I need a hug or something from a big sister.
I have been applying to universities to continue my studies, I already have an undergraduate and a Master's but it has been a while... last year I decided to apply to a Ph.D and so far I have gotten nothing but rejections and I am. And yes they were not my top choices and yes one of them I knew it would be really hard to get in.... but in the other one I thought my chances were higher, and who knows probably they were, and yes I am still waiting on answers from a couple more... but it just sucks
Today I woke up to news that my application in a third university has been updated so I can go check, but I just don't have it in me right now. I truly don't. I'm scared of another rejection because then that means that the possibility of studying that gets smaller and smaller... and it is a whole life project what is hanging on the balance here, a possibility to leave where I am, to have a better future. I'm scared and sad and fear overtakes me.
Rationally I know that each application is its own thing and not like "a rejection from one means a rejection from all" but fear is easier to conjure than hope when you have gotten constant "no".
I just needed to let it out. I'm sad and scared and I don't know there is no plan B, I just ... I was fully confident I was going to get accepted into and yet ... :(
Anywho, sorry for taking up your time. Thank you for listening.
Hello, my darling! This is my first chance to sit down before bed to answer your ask so forgive me for the wait ♥️ Going to put my response beneath a read more!
How exciting is it that you're looking forward to a new academic journey! As someone who works in academia, it is always so awesome to see people go back to school. I'm sorry it's been a disappointing process so far and you're not getting the answers you want.
Rationally, we know what we're supposed to feel and supposed to understand about a situation but sometimes, it's okay to just let yourself feel your feelings. It is okay to do that. Let yourself be upset about it. But then remember, you're striving towards this new goal for a reason and sometimes goals have setbacks that we have to bounce back from. Rejection stings but it is also redirection. Those schools/programs didn't work out for a reason and maybe the right fit hasn't gotten back to you yet. Maybe the most unlikely option is the one that ends up working out and you just have to allow yourself to get there. You mentioned this is something that could really shift things for you, meaning it's hella important and in that case, we find a way to make it work no matter what, even if we have a thousand doors that close. There is always one that opens.
I have a personal example I would like to share with you. When I was applying to undergraduate programs, I had applied to a few that I wanted to get into but had my eyes set on a specific place. It was the only place I really wanted to get into because I felt like I HAD TO. IT WAS THE ONLY RIGHT FIT. While waiting to hear back from that program, I applied to other programs just so I didn't put my eggs all in one basket. I ended up getting rejected from the program I was dying to get into and was absolutely crushed about it. The program I did end up getting into was one I applied to as an afterthought and yet, it turned out to be the best decision and best fit for me. I think about if I had ended up going to the program I really wanted to get into, how different my experience would've been, especially knowing what I know now. It would not have been a good place for me to thrive. Instead, I ended up in a place that gave me so many opportunities. I work at that place now!
All this to again, tell you, what is important to you will find its way and what's yours won't miss you. Don't let yourself get too down about it and keep your chin up, darling. This is a wonderful goal to have and I am sending you all my well-wishes! If you have already opened the notice, let me know what it says. I'm holding your hand while you find out. If it's good news, I'm celebrating and if it's not the news you want, I'm still here holding your hand while you search for the program that is best for you. Know you have a friend rooting for you whatever the decision may be!

With a Resounding "Yes", It's Time for Paranormasight VA Headcanons!
I'm going to be an oddball and switch between Japanese & English VAs when I find it relevant. Also my order's gonna be based on how strongly I think the headcanon works. I'll also try to provide examples for the angle I'm going for
let's a go
Tumblr media
Tetsuo Tsutsumi Japanese: Option 1 - Akio Otsuka (Executioner from Akudama Drive). Option 2 - Jouji Nakata (Osvald from Octopath Traveler 2) English: Option 1 - Jamieson Price (Malik Caesar from Tales of Graces F). Option 2 - Jason Douglas (Kishibe from Chainsaw Man)
Middle aged men characters are my specialty so really it depends on the delivery you want. Richard Epcar (Ace from 999) could also work for English as well as Bill Butts (Ciocolotta from Jojo part 5)
Tumblr media
Makoto Ashimiya/Fumichika Nejima Japanese: Kenjiro Tsuda (Ogata from Golden Kamuy...and also Kishibe from Chainsaw Man). Katsuyuki Konishi could also be a good example but I can't really think of an old man character. I guess Takehito Koyasu could also work? But like this is THE most TsudaKen looking motherfucker I've ever seen English: Joe J. Thomas (Nobunaga Hazama from Hunter x Hunter). His "So I did" line really cemented this casting choice tbh.
Tumblr media
Richter Kai Japanese: Shiniciro Miki (Kisuke Urahara from Bleach) English: For this, it depends again on the delivery you want. I originally wanted Doug Erholz (maybe not like Vega from Street Fighter), but upon closer inspection, Ray Chase (Uzui Tengen from Demon Slayer) might be a better pick.
Tumblr media
Harue Shigima English: Laura Post (Empress from A Hat in Time) Japanese: Kikuko Inoue (Rhea from Fire Emblem Three Houses)
It just works, it just works~
Tumblr media
Shogo Okiie English: Chris Hackney (Yuito from Scarlet Nexus) Japanese: Tatsuhisa Suzuki (Noctis from Final Fantasy 15)
Standard older protagonist
Tumblr media
Jun Erio Japanese: Kaito Ishikawa (Noe from Case Study of Vanitas or Iida from My Hero Academia) English: Griffin Burns (Doppio from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure). Zeno Robinson (Akira from Zom 100) would also work great!
An excitable character that I think can work great with the right delivery.
Tumblr media
Takumi Yumioka Japanese: Toshiyuki Morikawa (Yoshikage Kira from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure) English: Ben Lepley (Gouto from 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim)
I feel like a flat delivery that still has an air of intimidation would work best for him.
Tumblr media
Mayu Chozawa English: Option 1 - Tara Sands (Sonya from Fire Emblem Echoes); Option 2 - Cristina Vee (Velvet from Tales of Berseria). Amanda C. Miller (Sailor Jupiter from Sailor Moon) is also a good pick along with Heather Gonzalez (Cherche from Fire Emblem Heroes) Japanese: Miyuki Sawashiro (Kyoko Honda from Fruits Basket). Nana Mizuki could also work, though I sadly can't think of a role off the top of my head
Going for the woman who grew up a punk vibe
Tumblr media
Yutaro Namigaki Japanese: Jun Fukuyama (Draluc from Vampire Dies in No Time) English: It's tempting to put Xander Mobus for the total Joker Persona 5 duology but ehhhhh. It depends on the delivery again. Brian Beacock (Luthier from Fire Emblem Echoes) or Steve Staley (Hubert from Tales of Graces F) could also work tbh. Maybe Lucien Dodge (Waver Velvet from Fate/Zero)
Tumblr media
Ayame Touno English: Faye Mata (Amame from AI: The Somnium Files) Japanese: Rie Kugimiya (Rise from Persona 4)
The voices contrast each other, but I think each one compliments the kind of character Ayame is.
Tumblr media
Storyteller Japanese: Hochu Otsuka (Tsurumi from Golden Kamuy) English: TBD
Here's where I'm starting to think about 1 solid casting and kinda improvising for the second one. I think the Storyteller changes voices depending on the mask they wear, so for this old man mask, an old man they shall sound like.
Tumblr media
Michiyo Shiraishi English: Xanthe Huynh (Marianne from Fire Emblem Three Houses) Japanese: Aya Endo (Miyuki from Lucky Star)
Few lines for such a sweet gal
Tumblr media
Yakko Sakazaki English: Abby Trott (Older Annette from Fire Emblem Three Houses). For some reason I also pictured Cassandra Lee Morris (Tomi Kisaragi from 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim) Japanese: Marina Inoue (Female Protagonist from Persona 3 Portable)
Spunky young lady, ain't she?
Tumblr media
Mio Kurosuzu English: Amber Connor (Faye from Fire Emblem Echoes) Japanese: Rie Murakawa (Est from Fire Emblem Echoes)
Young but calm & sweet
Tumblr media
Yoko Fukunaga English: Cherami Leigh (Patty from Soul Eater) Japanese: Saori Hayami (Yor from Spy x Family)
Not related to casting but I think she and Ayame would be weird girl besties and I love that for them
Tumblr media
Hideiki Araishi English: Patrick Seitz (there's a specific role in mind that sounds similar to Mama from AI: The Somnium Files but naaah that doesn't sound right) Japanese: Tomokazu Sugita (sadly can't think of a role off the top of my head)
He's a bit of a snob so something a bit arrogant works best
Tumblr media
Kohei Jounichi Japanese: Here's where I think Katsuyki Konishi would fit best (Koito from Golden Kamuy comes to mind, oddly). Makoto Furukawa (why did I think Ronaldo from Vampire Dies in No Time??) could also work English: I think this will depend on the delivery. Do you want him more cowardly? I kinda see David Vincent tbh (Henri from Iruma-kun)
Tumblr media
Hajime Yoshimi English: He could be another potential Patrick Seitz role, but I want to avoid double casting as much as possible. Japanese: Subaru Kimura (Todo from Jujutsu Kaisen)
Tumblr media
Hitomi Okuda Japanese: Ai Farouz (Jolyne Kujo from JJBA) English: Option 1 - Laura Stahl (Alear from Fire Emblem Engage); Option 2 - Erica Mendez (can't think of a role off the top of my head)
Once again going for toughness, but from a younger angle
aaaand I think that's all the voiced characters! Some roles I had to think up of on the spot, so I might come back and revisit this, but I'm open for suggestions as well!

Kill Your Darlings was wholly unimpressive. For a film about beat poets and homoeroticism and murders shot with the same sort of accessible yet pleasing cinematography as movies like Argo or any other period piece semi-biopic located just south of Spielberg, I was bored unto misery.
I get the controversy around the Beat generation. The truth behind the version of these writers you see elevated on a pedestal is often uglier than what the narrative portrays, but I insist that if you're going to make a film about the truth behind the narrative, the counternarrative ought to be interesting.
Instead what we got was a tiktok dark academia movie that came out 5 years before dark academia had any cultural relevance. It's truly a soulless product, unable to even do the homoeroticism endemic to the beat generation justice. This makes canned A24 attempts at comedy films about fruity coming of age stories feel like masterpieces of storytelling.
It has no heart! It's a film about the Beat poets but there is none of the energy nor soul that these guys had. Sure most of these guys were cads and liars but they did it with gusto. There is no enthusiasm to this film. The Pretensions of these writers are almost cynically delivered, as writer and actors alike know that these lines belong in a The Fault In Our Stars ripoff movie and not a Beat Generation biopic. Dane DeHaan does his best impression of Lucien Carr like an SNL bit where the cast keeps trying not to break character, and every time he says something scandalous and rebellious you can feel him cringing on the inside.
This is a movie about a groomer and predator hunting down the young boy he fancies and stalking him for years! This is about the Beat Generation, a collection of interesting and wild authors and poets! It's about a murder that really happened and influenced some of the best authors of the postwar era! Even when mishandled it should have had more grit than what Kill Your Darlings managed. How do you make taking drugs and demolishing an apartment look boring?
If I'd been at Columbia growing up me and my friends would've killed Dane DeHaan's Lucien Carr with hammers. Great movie for your lame cousin who likes dark academia but won't read anything more challenging than the Hunger Games I guess.

For the fruit emoji ask game for fic writers: 🍉🍎🍑🍍🥝🫐🍇
🍉 Do you prefer to write short fics or long fics? Multichaptered works or single ones? Why?
I like writing long, multichaptered fics but I end up mostly writing shorter one-shots just because of how my attention span works.
🍎 Is there anything you straight-up won’t write?
I tried my hand with omegaverse once and it's... not my thing.
🍑 If you could make a connection between your favorite character and another work you care about (whether a crossover/fusion or a wonderfully “pretentious” literary reference) what would it be? How would it work?
Something something dead body walking, guided by ghosts of people he cared about, something something grief is inescapable and inhabits your entire being (the tiefling triplets eat up the standard tragedy oop)
🍍 What kind of AUs do you like? Are there any AUs you hate or just generally have beef with?
Me and coffee shop AUs have beef. Also soulmate AUs. I am Not a fan of that shit. I do tend to steer closer to canon than not, but I'll eat up an academia AU any day.
🥝 What’s your favorite trope/AO3 tag to write?
Hurt/comfort
🫐 What’s your favorite underrated thing in your fandom? (A ship that only you seem to write for, a character there’s almost no fics about, a trope that criminally hasn’t been written yet, etc.)
Lucien!! Lucien!! What a boy! What a man! What a trainwreck!! Shout out to grayintogreen for keeping that shit going, I gobble up their characterisation.
🍇 Is there a particular scene/episode/book/etc that you want to just write a million fics about, over and over? Which one?
MATT Cree is facing away from you now.  Cree is just facing the other room, doesn't even look back at any of you.  The only one who can see her face right now is Beauregard.  And Cree is looking forward, hollow and furious.  She's going to spend the rest of her turn going (panting) and just breathe heavily.  Beauregard and Caleb.  You hear Cree's voice not speaking to you, but you pick up on it like a wayward radio signal.  It says "Nonagon, help me! Please!" That's all you hear.

♡ FILMS FOR FAUNLET FASHION INSPO ♡
~~Got bored so compiled this (pretty extensive) list of film references for faunlet style and aesthetics, might be helpful for anyone looking to delve into and develop their style. Don't take this as some kind of gospel, it's just a bunch of movies and shows that I think can be useful reference points. My personal style and taste for example is a huge mix and amalgalm of stuff I see, from movie characters to paintings, books, comics, cartoons, music videos, haute couture collections, K- and J-idols, BJD dolls, even elements and staples from female fashion that I kind of genderflip or just outright mix into and merge with my own "masculine"/boyish/whatever faunlet fits. I think the secret to finding your style is to never limit yourself & always be creative (& clever ofc)! ♡
Feel free to suggest and tell me some of your personal films/shows that inspire you the most. I'm sure I forgot some stuff >.> Hope this helps somewhat lolol
WARNING: A LOT OF THESE HAVE MATURE THEMES AND +18 STUFF, SO DO RESEARCH BEFORE WATCHING AND PROCEED AT YOUR OWN DISCRETION, CAUTION & RESPONSIBILITY!

Sorry for the tremendous delay :(
I gave it a shot!!! Thank you for sending this prompt, I hope you really like it :)
G rated, ≈ 1.6k words
☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼☼
Lucien was not pacing.
Pacing meant nervousness, anxiety, and the stress-induced sort of nail-biting reserved for faelings who still needed tutors. Pacing meant eagerness and impatience.
No, he most definitely was not pacing.
Lucien was a High Lord’s son. Composed, he thought to his image in the mirror. Centered and understanding. An Emissary, a successful Treaty maker. The pacing was for brutish, unfeeling males who coerced faes into mating bonds they had no obligation to accept and did not respect the needs of the most stunningly important females in his life.
He knew how valorous Elain’s seer studies were. In fact, Lucien could most definitely appreciate her favors for academia, her hard work, and her intelligence. How much she had improved in the past years regarding controlling and eventually using her powers was a prime example of the type of female she was: hard-working, smart, kind, and gifted with the sort of resilience one encounters very rarely. The type of resilience one cultivates while planting flower seeds in window boxes during winters, keeping the buds alive even against the harshest of winds. Resilience to overcome the direst of pains and still be compassionate and sweet to others, to not let the bitterness bite through. Her drive to try again even when peace and comfort were always proven to fade away.
That said, he could barely wait another second to see her.
So, his rigorous walks around his room at Sidra’s House were merely a way for him to... keep himself warm. Yes, the coming of Solstice weather was nearly reaching freezing temperatures, and moving to increase his body heat is most understandable and feasible.
The deep red oak door of his rooms opened and Feyre popped her head inside just short of looking like a floating face (and, with how inventive she’d gotten while investigating her powers, he couldn’t be sure that wasn’t the case).
“Elain’s arriving in five,” she told him, her (whole-bodied) frame coming close to rest her hand on his shoulder “You don’t need to look so constipated about it,”
“Ha,” he tried to laugh.
It won’t be as awkward as their previous encounters, he knew. Actually, part of him expected it to be… Well, he was not sure of what to expect, and yet he felt like he was about to start singing his fingers with unpremeditated fires as if he was as old as Nyx. We are friends now, he reminded himself. She can be comfortable around me now, she might even trust me, if she needed.
There’s been sometime now since Elain seemed to have gotten used to his presence. Obviously, feeling as though you are comparable to a fixture, or just another Court’s representative by your mate is as painful as it sounds, but it was one step up from complete numbness, and it paved the way for the discreet fondness he felt creeping up in every one of their interactions. Cordial and still distanced fondness, but affection-filled in its beginning.
The letters they’ve used to correspond have burned quietly in his mind, an earnest feeling which grew with every observation she gave him about Summer Court’s palace, her rooms, her exploratory boat trips into the sea. It became more and more obvious how much she wanted to share with him, and how much that amount grew every day. Through her letters, Lucien got to know a whole new Elain. Perhaps it was the distance between them, the lack of family members watching around them like birds of prey looking into the slightest of interactions to pick apart. Perhaps it’s the safety one encounters in being made to words and phrases. Whatever it was, he was most grateful for it.
It was Elain’s second trip to Adriata, and it felt impossibly different this time.
⠀ ོ ⠀ ོ ⠀ ོ ⠀ ོ
“In the living room!” he heard a voice call as soon as his foot touched the foyer floor, and his whole body stood in attention to it, the sound tuned out to control his body and if it owned it.
Lucien stepped towards the room, his hands clammy, and felt all the breath be released from his lungs in relief.
“Oh, it is really you,” Elain breathed out, brows raised as if surprised by his presence at the arched door. “I mean,- I felt it, but it’s all so new, and I- I didn’t know how accurate it is.” Her hands are pressed down on her chest as he slowly walked closer.
“How accurate is it?” he asked, still a few feet away.
“Very,” she squeaked out, flushed red.
Lucien thought to stand closer, the remainder of the brief excited hug she gave him after her first trip back from Summer Court impulsing him forward.
He forced his feet to stay where they were, his instincts roaring and screaming at him to watch her closely, hold her protectively in his arms.
Just because she hugged you once, doesn’t mean she wants to do it again.
Lucien looked at her and saw… longing, yes, but also the sort of happiness that comes from getting something you’ve been wanting for a long time.
He recognized it because it’s the same feeling mirrored in his eyes.
Hope, as much as his life tried to squash it, is as resilient as the woman he loves.
“Where’s Feyre?” Lucien heard himself ask through a fog, still winded to see her.
“Rhysand mind spoke to her. An official emergency,” she told him in a tone inflected perfectly to call her sister’s bullshit.
“When will they be back?”
“I don’t know, she didn’t say,”
There’s a crack in the air, both realizing more forcefully they are truly alone in the house, with no time limit to have company again.
Lucien cleared his throat, lips suddenly parched.
“How has it been here while I was away?” She asked.
Elain looked so alive, in front of him. Her skin was just a tad darker than her customary pale complexion, her cheeks rosier from the sun. The golden hues in her hair more pronounced, as if carefully crafted by the Sun itself.
A line creased in her forehead, followed by a smirk tugging the side of her lips. He still hadn’t responded her, mind working a mile a minute. Overwhelmed by her simply standing in his vicinity.
Only when it matters, then I can’t be smooth to save a life.
“Just fine,” he managed to get out.
There’s so much more he has to say, of course.
“Just fine,” she repeated back, still smirking at him.
“Nyx learned his first curse word,” I missed you “Feyre was appropriately appalled,” Did you miss me? “Cassian made some progress with the Illyrians, I can show you some treaties I started to draft to ease their relations, if you wish” I realized so many things this past month, about us, have you?
Elain laughed, something shifted pleasantly in his ribs.
It’d be easy, even if reductive, to explain to her the obviously beautiful things about her - the slope of her waist, the sunshine in her hair, the beams of her smile, the inviting plumpness of her lips, the briefness of her eyebrows, the delicate slope of her neck and hands and all her magnificent details - made his breathing hitch in his throat because sometimes his body could do nothing more than stand witness to her beauty. But, how to make himself clear whilst not turning himself into a fool and say what tipped him over the edge, what made his side of the bond shimmer and wrap itself tightly around his heart had always been the subtle things he couldn’t help but notice, no matter how many times he convinced himself his eyes weren’t welcome on her vicinity.
How to explain that he’d fallen in love with her for the way her knees bend the fabric of her dress when she crosses her legs once she sits? Or, the rare sound of her laugh, or, even rarer, the sharp look in her eyes which shows she was aware of much more she let on. Almost a crack in the beautiful porcelain costume she had all over her body, a fragile armor, made from feeble yet insistent instincts to protect, to smooth out any bothersome wrinkles.
Lucien fell in love with the nearly imperceptible crookedness of her canines, her form while spreading bread dough at the kitchen table, the way she wipes sweat off her brows with the back of her wrists while she gardens.
Lucien fell in love with her penmanship, the dots in her i’s.
Lucien fell in love with her tender endurance, the innate stubbornness of her kindness. The nurturing nature her body seemed to thrive off.
The grandfather clock chimes three times, and Lucien felt the hopes of this reunion being amicable and not awkward puffing away, all because he couldn’t control his mind to have a conversation with her without stalling over his words.
When he blinked again, Elain was close enough to touch.
“Lucien,” she said with her eyes set in his, “Your end of the bond is open,”
There was very little time for him to burn in embarrassment and close the wide-open gates of his mind because, in the very next second, Elain wrapped her arms around him.
“Oh, Gods,” she whispers shakily against him, hands shyly grasping the fabric of his shirt.
He kept his hands below her shoulder blades when all he wanted was to weave them in her hair and feel their lightness caressing his hands, watching the stark contrast of his tan hands and the sunny quality of the strands.
(Wanted to cradle her scalp and tug ever so slightly, see if she’d shiver and sigh. If she’d flush down her dress as well).
“I didn’t know,” he whispered back, voice choppy, feeling stupid and unfit “I’m sorry for-“
Elain’s smile seemed to warm everything within a mile radius of them.
“I like it,” she admitted, “Just a bit surprised, 's all”
The beast inside him purred, pride in pleasing his female.
“There’s a lot I want to tell you too”.
“Good,” he held her a bit tighter, felt her tighten her hold on him in response.
"That's good."

Hello I love the aesthetic of your blog <3. I was thinking if you could recommend some films/series to watch... especially ones with good queer representation :)). Thanks in advance 🥰❣️
Look, i'm so sorry ANON, this is longer than expected but it just happened, it's not my fault💗💗💗
Movies
Kill Your Darlings - set in the 40s and based on the true story of David Kammerer's murder and the lives of the poets of the Beat Generation: Allen Ginsberg, Lucien Carr and Jack Kerouac (a must for everyone who loves dark academia aesthetics).
Brokeback Mountain - a masterpiece, will make you cry for the following days.
Pride - Rising of the Pride movement in the UK in the 80s.
120 BPM - French movie about the AIDS epidemic and the ACTUP Paris protests in the 90s, very long but is worth every minute of it, will make you cry for the following months.
The Danish Girl- set in the 20s and based on a true story, I don’t want to spoil anything, will make you cry for the following years.
Call Me By Your Name - Timothée Chalamet, you don’t need any other reason to go watch this, will make you cry for the rest of your life, still not immune to its effect after the seventh rewatch.
Milk- based on the life of Harvey Milk.
Jongens - two cuties falling in love for the first time.
Center of my World - a bittersweet (more bitter than sweet actually) German movie with Louis Hoffman
Maurice - based on the homonymous novel by Forster. It’s VERY slow (like every movie set in the late 19th century/ in the 20th century) but young Hugh Grant made it more bearable.
Wilde - based on Oscar Wilde’s life, copy-past the thing I wrote for Maurice and replace Hugh Grant with Jude Law (even better in my opinion lol).
TV shows
Pose - a show about the NYC transgender community in the 80s/90s, AIDS epidemic and ballroom subculture. All the transgender characters are portrayed by transgender women. 3 seasons- 26 episodes.
Sex Education - the series that we deserved in our teenage years, it should have come out earlier but it’s better now than never
Young Royals- short and sweet, the Swedish prince falls in love for the first time with a boy from the working class.
Skam - highschool drama in 8 different languages.
We Are Who We Are- a Collaboration between Paolo Giordano and Luca Guadagnino (this should be enough). Two teenagers explore their sexuality and their identity. Set in the US military base of Chioggia (Italy) in 2016. Rumour has it that Timothée Chalamet and Armie Hammer did a cameo in it, I haven’t found Timothee yet.
When We Rise- a docudrama about the history of the LGBT movement in the US from the 70s to the 2010s (a mix between Milk and Pride). 1 season- 8 episodes.
Queer As Folk (US) - set in Pittsburgh in the early 2000s. A group of gay friends dealing with their lives filled with discrimination, SDT and HIV, love, coming out, and (too much) sex. 5 seasons- 83 episodes, very long but this didn’t stop me from binging more than 80 episodes in less than a week, I don’t regret it.
Eyewitness - crime, gays and internalized homophobia. 1 season- 10 episodes, too short but so good
Honourable mention (movies that have LGBTQ+ characters but their sexuality isn’t the main topic): Bohemian Rhapsody, Predestination, The Talented Mr Ripley, The White Crow, The Old Guard, Rocketman, IT, The Black Swan, Billy Elliot, The Goldfinch, The Imitation Game.

I´m gonna do a little reading experiment
Ok , so many of you are familiar with SJM , people here love her or hate her, i kind of want my opinion here and i can't give critics without taking a peck, so i´ll read the first chapters or both ACOTAR AND TOG , i´ve seen the plot and doesn't call to me.Also...SJM kind of writes like those "men writing women" memes except well, she is a woman.
My interest is maybe find if there are characters (the thing i mostly look for in a work) that can get my attention and make me keep reading, maybe one of this books turn into a guilty pleasure.
If i don't like then i´ll take this as an experience i´m sharing on here. My critism to SJM could only be limited since this is the first book on each series and maybe she got better there.
I won't be having all the books, i don't have the time or energy, the challenge here is seeing if i can get trought the first one and maybe like one of them.Who knows.
Let´s hit it: Throne of Glass
Celeana:
-She is weird, she is supposed to be a prisioner and keeps thinking if the people around her is pretty or not
-Prince here are tought to be...repugnant? what kind of weird ass worldbuilding is this? If this is setting up something interesting, i could be on board but right now is a really awkward way to setting Celaena (i won't always spell her name right) as having prejudice against royalty but this are the first pages, doesn't have a great impact
-Celaena´s narcisim and self image obsetion has to be her fatal flaw or i won't take it
-Like, i´ll take a protagonist with Celeana´s personality if it was well fleshed out, which i don't know if is the case here. But my great problem is: it doesn't quite fit an assasin. She is unsubtle, likes to be noticed, which could work from SOME assasin characters (Ex: that villain from The Nevers) but Celeana doesn't seem crazy ,why is she exactly an assasin?
-"No soy tonta, aunque cometí la estupidez de dejar que me capturasen" mija...te tengo malas noticias.
-Celinita celestina, creo que te has de haber graduado por palanca de la academia de acesinos.
-Enought with her, concensus?:
I don't "like" her but...strangely i may keep on with her as a guilty pleasure. Like those people who hate watch riverdale ( I don't i can't stomach it) Celeana doesn't strike me as a well writen character at first sight .BUT , i can take it as Dunyasha in another life, if i don't take her seriously i can have some fun reading her. My main problem is pretty much how much she doesn't make sense but, maybe i can live with that.
Celaena passes the test, unintentionaly and for the wrong reasons but she passes
-OHOHOHOH.I wrote too soon, she is a female mysoginist, of course she is. Yeah, i will never like her as a person, let´s cross fingers that i´ll take her as a character.
Dorian
-Alright, i did laught at him complaining about Celaena´s smell, is just funny how shameless he is.He is a stiff rich and privileged kid...i may like him
-Dorian...you sure you want to offer fredom to this girl? she is kind of nuts
-"esa" 🤣🤣🤣
-Unfortunetaly, his POV is not really the big deal, is just a paragraph on how beautiful Sar...ahem,Celeana is and that´s it, what a wasted change to expand him.
Chaol-
Tumblr media
-I don't really have a lot to say about him, but i think he is fine
-He is a little generic til now and too serious but i actually like his banther with Cealeana and is a legit good contrast ,like those two and Dorian have a potential for a power trio
-No voy a mentir , el "¿estas casado? / yo tampoco😏" me mató
You know what? if nothing specially bad happens that makes me quit the book , i´ll may actually read it all for the fun, although i don't promise anything. Just the first one,the key is not taking it seriously.
Now: ACOTAR
Feyreh
-Ok, she likes painting, a hobbie is always something that makes a protagonsit a little more relatable
-Si,si mija ya entendí que eres tan pobre que no puedes ni prestar atencion
-But...her whole dylema with the arrow is conffusing, i am having trouble to get her personality , doesn't feel nuanced , it feels more, cultered
-YA DALE CON LA FLECHA O MÉTETE PA TU CASA PERO HAS ALGO C*ADOS!!!
-WithCindy and El geek are right, how is she soo poor but as soon as she can afford fcking food she buys a strange and expensive arrow, doesn't make sense
-If this is setting Feyreh as materialistic i´m on it, BUT make it with self awareness ,since right now it just seems convenient
-Alright, Feyre being a painter right now seem like an excuse for purple prose
-I really can't point her personality ,she is just ...blah,generic and i´m surprised since i´d asume SJM´s lead female would improve ,Celeana is not great at all but at least she is defined ,Feyre is just like any female lead in all fantasy lit
-Nope, sorry Feyre but ...nope, i don't hate you but i´m nowhere charmed by you and you don't make me want to continue this.Failed test.let´s see if you supporting cast saves your series
Elain & Nesta
-So one is mean and the other is dump
You know what? i´ll just skip to the most talked characters here
Tamlin:
-Not sure yet,he seems boring but maybe he is just quiet
-I kind of fell asleep thinking about this guy
Lucien:
-I like Lucien actually , the argument between Feyre and Tamlin is kind of generic banther but his interventions are kind of good
-Call her out Lucien
-Is official, i may not continue the reading but Lucien is my boy
-I´d root for him to be the main love interest (i know he is not, i know not even Tamlin is) but he deserves better than Feyre honestly
Rhysand:
-Since this guy went, acording to tumblr, some character growth later on, this is probably like the case of Zoya in S&B or Jamie in ASOIAF , anything i could say about him here may not apply to his character in later books.
-Alright, i am not charmed by him, he seems to have an interesting backstory, has more personality than Feyre and Tamlin
-But, his character type is a personal pet peeve, characters that are overall: hot. His whole personality and actions revolves on them being the author´s fantasy hot guy and...that never does it for me. This is a personal thing since most people would call it the female gaze but ,like i said: for me it´s a no.
-Me when Lucien interacts with Rhysand:
Tumblr media
So...no, i won't continue ACOTAR , but Lucien it was nice to meet you.In my mind, you had a happy ending and that´s it.

The fandom is so lucky to have you! We appreciate having you here and all that you contribute to it ❤️❤️
1. What brought you into the fandom?
2. What character(s) do you feel the most connected to and why?
3. Out of all of SJM’s books, which one means the most to you and why?
4. Out of all of the SJM couples (fanon, canon, endgame, etc) which one means the most to you and why?
Keep doing you ❤️
Don't lie to me- the fandom is probably just fine without me.
For six straight years, I lived, breathed, and ate academia. And then, when I decided I was done once I had my masters, it was like...what do I do with myself? I hadn't read anything for fun in YEARS. I had a standing brunch with some girlfriends and my friend had the first three ACOTAR books in her trunk. She was like, read these, you'll like them. I didn't like ACOTAR at first- I thought Feyre was miserable and the romance between her and Tamlin was so stilted and awkward. I did like Lucien, though.
And then I just kept going- the end was a lot more interesting than the beginning. I REALLY liked ACOWAR, and I like Lucien a lot. I didn't have strong feelings about any of the ships when I first came into the fandom, and spent a little time poking around. I leaned vassien for a good deal of time until I really nasty encounter with someone adjacent to that ship made me certain I never wanted to create content for them. At the same time, I read a fic I didn't particularly care for, development wise, and thought that maybe I could do it better.
Houseofhurricane left me a REALLY positive review- I think she was my first one, actually. So the rest was history.
2. I really like Nesta, honestly. I think her and I handle things similarly. I get pretty defensive and angry and I keep things in, too. I was surprised so many people hated her, and I still am, because Nesta is a pretty accurate look at how a LOT of people process trauma. It's not always pretty or nice- I'm not saying that you're excused from harming people, but I understand and appreciate where she's coming from.
3. ACOWAR is forever my favorite. Again, coming in, I was surprised by how many people found it contentious or outright hate it. I personally loved Feyre and Lucien in spring- I think I re-read that section like, 100 times in the beginning. I was a destruction of spring expert back then.
4. Feysand, probably. I do really like the whole "girl no one loves finally finds love" thing. Their romance just hits.

YESSSSS YOU REPOSTED MY FAVOURITE ASKS LIST. Okay: 1, 4, 19, 24, 36, 38 (SORRY I GOT CARRIED AWAY)
OOoooh, thank you bori. Sorry I'm getting to it so late 😩
1. What font do you write in? Do you actually care or is that just the default setting?
Calibri — the default microsoft word font, usually at size 11 or 12 with 6 point spacing after every paragraph.
4. What’s a word that makes you go absolutely feral?
In a bad way - utilize. My academic advisors have ruined this word for me 😩 every time they see it they scratch out its eyes and now It's just no longer in my vocab.
19. Tell me a story about your writing journey. When did you start? Why did you start? Were there bumps along the way? Where are you now and where are you going?
I wrote really shitty poetry in middle school because I was hormonal and sad and thought I was deep lol. It was probably not very good, but I'm too scared to confirm that, and in high school I had zero interest in writing until my senior year. Actually, I did start write Syl's story as part of a companions fic but dropped it like three chapters in (again, not very goof). The turning point for me was the end of the year project for AP Language and Composition. My teacher was super enthusiastic and engaging so I decided "hey let me give this a try." Turns out I was pretty okay!
I did some creative writing in college, but didn't start writing fanfic again until my sophomore year, just for funsies. It was a creative outlet amidst hours and hours in the lab and banging my head against my phsyics book. Now it's something I do almost daily, if not weekly in some form, and I can tell all the practice and the love for reading that I've rekindled is paying off!
24. How much prep work do you put into your stories? What does that look like for you? Do you enjoy this part or do you just want to get on with it?
Oh gee, like no time at all 😭 With Nim, I just started writing and followed the Mages Guild and Thieves Guild questlines for direction, then had to find fun ways to tie them together. I had a vague idea where I wanted to take it for part two, but it has been such A MESS and the lack of planning really shows.
I'm definitely spending a lot more time thinking about it for Syl. In talking with some writing friends, I think I'm going to at least want an outline for each chapter, and I'll try to post updates only when when I have the next two or three chapters written out already. I hope I enjoy it! Honestly, it might be less work for me in the end.
36. They say to Write What You Know. Setting aside for a moment the fact that this is terrible advice…what do you Know?
I saw your answer to this cause I creeped through your blog heehee but it is very much the same. Biology and it's many branches and the toil of academia. Also being an awkward bisexual.
38. What is something about your writing process YOU think is Really Weird? If you are comfortable, please share. If you’re not comfortable, what do you think cats say about us?
Hmmm, I don't know if it's all that uncommon, but I am so uncomfortable by my characters sometimes. Mostly Lucien tbh, but every time I re-read his scenes, I'm like wtf Sonny. Why are you writing this, and then I get so sick of myself I look away lol There are scenes like that with Nim too, where I get so upset with her even though I AM THE ONE MAKING HER DO THIS, but I've come to learn that I must enjoy how horrifying it all is, cause why else would I put them through it? It's like reading that horrible book I was telling you about the other day. It was so frustrating and disturbing and even though it was straight up unbearable at times, I still enjoyed reading it 😂 Is writing supposed to be torturous? because it was for me and I like it because I am 40% masochist.
Lmao I can't believe I put those thoughts out into the world.

Question: what things do you ship? I'm curious
I haven't really been into shipping like I used to back in the day, like I still secretly like a ton and look up uhhh art of 👀 but I don't post about it and barely read fics anymore, ya know. But my actual forever OTP is Peterick. Holy cow. I've always been obsessed with Pete and Patrick's relationship and used to read tons of fics back in the day. I'll bold my top favorites in this list.
Fictional Ships:
- Katara + Zuko (Avatar)
- Korra + Bolin (Legend of Korra)
- Nadia + Julian (The Arcana)
- Lucien + MC (Mr Love)
- Nikki + Kimi (Love Nikki)
- Lucifer + Lord Diavolo (Obey Me)
- Shepard + Garrus (Mass Effect)
- Midoriya + Todoroki (My Hero Academia)
- Hawks + Endeavor (My Hero Academia)
- Eraser Head + Present Mic (My Hero again lol)
- Nines + Gavin (Detroit: Become Human)
- Cecil + Carlos (WTNV)
- Aziraphale + Crowley (Good Omens)
- Venom + Eddie (Venom, obvs)
- McCree + Hanzo (Overwatch)
Those are my big ones. There's ofc a bunch, bunch more lol, but they're mostly just character + MC stuff though.
Real life ships other than Peterick:
- Frerard fo sho
- Trohley (fluff, nonsexual)
- Gabilliam back in the day
- I used to be a big Ryden, Brencer, Brallon, and Joncer shipper lmao but not anymore at all
- Larry Stylinson was another old ship ahaha
- Rhink (fluff, nonsexual)
- Crankiplier (fluff, nonsexual)
- Mavin
(Fluff/nonsexual clarification added as I do ship the pair but only interact with romantic/intimate/loving stuff and avoid content with any actual sexual imagery of said ship.)
Omfg. Sorry this is so long!!! (I would have put it under a read more if I knew how to on mobile lmao) I actually had a lot of fun writing the list out and remembering old stuff!! If anyone sees this and wants to gush about any of these ships with me, I super encourage it because I haven't talked to people about any of my ships on here other than Peterick lmao. Thank you for the ask 😁💕

Kill Your Darlings (2013)
DISCLAIMER: This is not a review. I am in no way a professional at all to do a movie review. I am not a critic at all. The only reason why I’m doing this is because I used to talk to my dad a lot about movies. I can’t do that anymore. This is literally just my reactions watching the movie.
Tumblr media
I only found this movie from a tiktok about Dark Academia movies. I’ve seen stills and gifs of Daniel Radcliffe looking like that in a bunch of fan made videos of The Cursed Child. I’ve always wondered which movie they got it from. So I freaked out when I found it.
I didn’t expect anything at all. Cause I don’t usually watch trailers online or see reviews cause I like blind reacting to them.
(This is not in order)
This movie hit different. The pace was so quick I could already tell it was originally a book. (I noticed that movie adaptations of books usually run faster than most movies)
I loved the friendship that grew between the two. Lucien and Allen. They were honestly just a bunch of teenagers who wanted to break the stigma. Like every teenager in that era. Or every era.
Lucien being what Allen wanted to be.
Dane DeHaan sounding like Logan Lerman in Perks of Being a Wallflower with his American accent
The undeniable chemistry between the two. FROM THE MOMENT THEY MET I KNEW A ROMANCE WAS STIRRING UP.
THE CLOTHES. THE OUTFITS. OH GOD, THE OUTFITS.
Lucien and Allen trying to hang themselves. - why ???? is this what teenage boys do? the intellectuals, I guess. Bothered me a bit.
Allen taking drugs for the first time. Any movie with first time takers are always great. THAT SCENE WHERE EVERYONE JUST PAUSES AND THEY CAN CONTROL WHAT THE OTHERS DO. Yes, folks, that’s exactly what drugs do.
The fucking bond. THE FUCKING BOND. Tolkien (2019)??? Dead Poets Society (1989)????? The only way I like men is when they love each other and show it without any strand of hatred. Of course, they have to be intellectuals, do they?
Was Allen jealous of Jack cause he was Lucien’s ‘new favorite’??? What was up with that anyway?
But-ah-we really do realize it by the end how fucked up Lucien was, right? Not in a bad way. He really was fucked and just wanted security and love, really.
Which is why he couldn’t get away from David.
David was an old man pining on a young fucking boy??? WHAT THE FUCK. HOW FUCKED UP WAS THAT???? ARE YOU FUCKING KIDDING ME? FUCKING FOLLOW HIM EVERY WHERE HE WENT? GAVE HIM A FUCKED UP IDEA OF LOVE RIGHT AFTER HIS DAD LEFT HIM? COME ON.
But I do hate how homophobia was so common in the times. We live in better times now, of course. It still isn’t perfect. But god, are you fucking kidding me???? FUCK HOMOPHOBIA GOD FUCKING DAMMIT HOW IS IT JUST MANSLAUGHTER IF THE MURDERER IS ALSO HOMOESEXUAL AND CHANGES IF HE ISNT WHAT THE FUCK
of course, the ending line was really nice. “Another lover hits the universe. The circle is broken. But with death comes rebirth. And like all lovers and sad people, I am a poet.” that made me cry
that’s it. i suck. but that’s why you’re still reading this.
