Saw the Echoes of the Solstice character art again today and I’m once more wondering why Beau and Caleb look so much older than they are. It’s only been around 6 or 7 years since campaign 2 ended. (Beau is 30 and Caleb is 40/41.)
Liam said something on a recent episode that implied he thinks it’s been decades since campaign 2. (No one corrected him!!! Ahh!!!!)
Maybe I need to accept that character ages are just as unknown as the ages of the PC’s children.
#how old are Vex and Percy’s children?#who knows for sure#Luc is 3 and 6 and also 14#critrole#critical role#the mighty nein#echoes of the solstice

How would the wizards win, they are knocked out easily and fragile as fuck???
Hi anon,
In the interest of verisimilitude I am running this combat play by play. Assumptions include:
Equipment is that of their last appearance (Echoes of the Solstice for the PCs but before Caleb gives his stone to Luc, and 2x141 for Essek) with the notable exception that no one has any potions
All magical items with charges are fully charged
The wizards have all necessary components for their spells
Caleb’s philosopher’s stone is on him and is set to constitution save proficiency, which is how Caleb usually has it set.
Caleb will not access spells that we have not seen him use previously
Essek gets the high level dunamancy spells though bc we left with him not accessing 9th levels and it seems reasonable he’d have these learned.
Characters are all level 20
The poll this is based on does not explicitly say to the death, so I am counting “at least one of the wizards survives and put Yasha somewhere she is not going to bother them” as a win condition for them.
For the purposes of this exercise I am going to make Essek a chronurgist but swap out the level 2 abilities (Chronal Shift and Temporal Awareness) for Adjust Density since we know he has the latter but “time is his speciality” as I don’t have his actual stat block.
Essek’s CON, WIS, CHA, and STR are unknown as are his HP. I have rolled for them, added his CHA bonus as a drow, and taken an ASI to one other stat. I have also just used the wizard default of 4 HP per level + con bonuses. I rolled (4d6 drop lowest): 16, 8, 14, and 11, which seems like a reasonable spread. I’m giving him 16 CHA (14+2 racial bonus), 16 CON, 8 STR, and 13 (11+2) WIS, which seems reasonable to me. His HP is therefore 6+4*19+3*20=142.
They all start at the corners of a square with sides 30 feet, as there is no 2D configuration of four equidistant points. Same teams are at diagonals from each other (ie, going clockwise, it goes Beau, Caleb, Yasha, Essek.)
In order to stave off any whining: if both wizards roll higher on the dice for initiative than both sentinel babes I will reroll. After that the dice shall tell their story.
Caleb is not allowed to cast Wish to simply win the fight even though that is the obvious answer and not prohibited per the rules of the poll because while that proves my point, actually running through the combat and demonstrating the general case of “wizards beat melee at L20 as a rule” is more fun for me.
Final and most important rule: I am a human person running through combat for four people. Will this be perfectly optimal in every way? No. If there is something egregiously wrong then mention it but if you simply had a different strategy then well, write it out yourself.
Combat below the jump:
Initiative: Caleb rolled 7 (modified to 9), Essek rolled 16 (modified to 19), Yasha rolled 15 (modified to 18), Beau rolled 3 on the d20 and 6 on the d8 from her boots of the vigilant (total of 14).
Round 1
Essek casts Hold Person on Yasha since he cannot cast it on both at once as they are 42.4 feet from each other. She fails with a natural 1. [L2 spell used - Essek]
Yasha rolls again at the end of her turn, and gets a 12, failing.
Beau runs to Essek and attacks him twice, using a ki point to stunning strike him on her first hit and attempting for all hits after until it succeeds. She rolls an 11 and a 14 to hit on the dice, which will hit. Essek rolls a natural 18 on his first con save, succeeding, but a 9 on his second, which fails, dropping his hold on Yasha. Beau just takes flurry of blows for her bonus action, with advantage, rolling a 17 and a 12 respectively at advantage. Total damage to Essek is 14+11+7+7=39 damage. (2 ki used) She can also extract aspects; he is a normal guy.
Caleb shapechanges into an ancient white dragon. He picks up Essek in a talon (object interaction) and flies 35 feet into the air.[L9 spell used - Caleb; concentration]
Round 2
Essek is stunned
Yasha summons her wings. She makes her Frightful Presence save with a natural 18 and flies almost into melee with Dragon!Caleb but that is her action. She rages as a bonus action.
Beau has no abilities nor items that extend more than 30 feet away. She may as well use Empty Body to become invisible and resistant to all damage though! (6 ki used total, 4 this round). She makes her frightful presence save with a 15 on the dice. Essek is no longer stunned.
Dragon!Caleb can get both Yasha and Beau in a cone of cold, DC 22. Yasha saves with a 17 on the dice and total of 27, Beau rolls a 3 and uses a ki point to reroll, getting a 9+10 which fails. This is a con save, so no evasion. I rolled extremely well (thanks google dice roller thing) and Beau takes 96 cold damage, halved to 48 from Empty Body. Yasha takes 48 cold damage as well, halved due to her saving throw. Caleb rolls a 6 on the d6; this ability recharges. He then flies 80 feet away from Yasha.
Round 3
Essek casts Ravenous Void 30 feet behind Yasha such that he and Caleb are outside of the spell’s 100 foot range. Beau is however also in range, though neither she nor Yasha are within range of the sphere, merely the 100 foot event horizon. [L9 spell used, Essek; concentration].
Yasha must make a strength save, which she makes with a 14 on the die, against Essek’s DC of 20. She moves 25 feet towards Caleb and Essek as she is in difficult terrain (yes, even in the air.) She uses her battle cry ability as a bonus action, granting Beau advantage on attacks and saves.
Beau makes a strength save as well, and makes it with a natural 18. She can activate her maelstrom gloves at this point I suppose, as her action. She also runs from the sphere, along the ground, at half speed (35 feet); she will use step of the wind to dash as a bonus action (70 feet). She is still within the range of the spell this turn.
Caleb can hit Yasha with the cold damage again. She makes her save with a 15 on the dice. I rolled much more poorly this time; she takes 32 damage. His breath weapon does NOT recharge this round as I rolled a 4.
At the end of round 3: Caleb has 333 HP as a dragon and has used one 9th level spell on which he is concentrating. Essek has 103 HP as himself and has used one 2nd level spell and one 9th level spell, the latter on which he is concentrating. Beau has 144 HP and is invisible; she has used 8 of her 20 ki points. Yasha has 148 HP and is currently raging.
Round 4
Essek casts lightning bolt on Yasha at 5th level. She fails her dex save (16+3 = 19, his DC is 20), taking 10d6 lightning damage, or 26 points per my roll. (Yasha is at 122 HP).
Yasha makes a strength save at advantage against Ravenous Void, just making it with a 10, but Essek uses Convergent future to make her fail. Yasha is pulled into the Ravenous Void; Essek takes one level of exhaustion. Yasha takes 5d10 force damage (another 26 points) and is restrained. (Yasha is at 94 HP).
Beau rolls a 15, succeeding with a 21. She successfully runs out of the range of ravening void and stays there. HOWEVER she is now within Dragon!Caleb’s blindsight radius.
Caleb gets directly above Beau and attacks her with his multiattack. He rolls a 9, 17, and 15 on the dice and gets +14 on all three attacks, dealing 2d10+8, 2d8, 2d8+8, and 2d6+8 damage total, all of which will be halved. That added up was a 72 total, halved to 36 for Beau who is now at 108 HP. He rolls a 5 on the d6, recharging his breath weapon. All attacks are made at minimum 10 foot reach, putting him outside the range of Sentinel; he returns to 40 feet above Beau.
Round 5
Yasha is out of range, so, upon realizing what’s going on, Essek casts See Invisibility on himself and can now see Beau, but that is his action.
Yasha takes another 34 damage from the Ravenous Void and makes a strength save at advantage; she makes it and is no longer restrained. She can get 15 feet out of the sphere. (Yasha is at 60 HP)
Beau can I guess run 70 feet away from the wizards.
Caleb uses his breath weapon again on Beau. She rolls a 5 on the dice, which is a failure on the con save. She takes 39 (79 halved) damage. Beau is now at 69 HP (nice). The breath weapon does not recharge this round.
Round 6
Essek casts Gravity Sinkhole where Beau is. She rolls a 4 on the dice and fails her Con save, taking the full 5d10 force damage (27) which isn’t halved by Empty Body. Beau is now at 42 HP.
Yasha succeeds on her saving throw and is now 40 feet out of the sphere, 50 from the center. She needs to make her next two rounds of saves to get out of the range of the spell, but takes no damage this round. She heals herself up 20 points, to 80, as her action.
Beau runs another 70 feet away.
Caleb goes after Beau, who I assume is running at a tangent to the radius of Ravenous Void, and dashes, catching up but is not able to attack.
Round 7
Essek uses momentary stasis on Beau. She rolls a 9 on her Con save, failing with a total of 19; she is incapacitated and has a speed of zero.
Yasha rolls a 3 and a 4 on her next saving throw, failing her strength save, and is pulled back into the center of the sphere, taking 5d10 (33) damage. Yasha is at 47 HP.
Beau is incapacitated.
Caleb makes his multiattack, dealing 57 total, halved to 28. Beau is now at 14 HP. Caleb’s breath weapon does not return.
Round 8
Essek casts gravity sinkhole again at Beau. She rolls a 19, making her con save, but still takes 5d10 halved. I rolled a 28, halved to 14, precisely knocking her unconscious.
Yasha takes 25 force damage from the center of the sphere and makes her save, moving out from the center of the sphere. Yasha is at 22 HP.
Beau rolls a 2 on her first death save. This however does not matter, because...
Caleb lands and attacks Beau, taking her death saves and killing her. His breath weapon does not return.
Round 9
Essek hangs out in Caleb’s talons, chilling.
Yasha makes her strength save and moves out from the center of the sphere. She is again 50 feet from the center.
Caleb flies to the edge of the radius of Essek’s spell and lands.
Round 10
Essek gets out of Caleb’s talons and stands but is otherwise still chilling.
Yasha makes her strength save and dashes, reaching the wizards but is not able to attack them. She is no longer raging, having taken no damage nor attacked in a round, so she rages again.
Caleb drops Shapechange and casts Disintegrate. Yasha rolls an 11, for a dex save of 14, failing. She is reduced to 0 HP by Disintegrate, which turns her into dust and kills her because she is still dust even though she is raging.
Conclusion: I did to be fair roll like absolute shit for Beau but it was ultimately a game of dragon-and-monk anyway; once they're in the air and she's not and Yasha's unable to come to her aid, she's fucked. The second Beau fails to stunning strike one of the wizards, and Caleb gets a +9 assuming he has all his favorite magic rocks around him against Beau's 18 DC, so this is not out of the question, they can and will either turn into a dragon with a +14 to con saves and also who can fly, or cast "gravity hates you personally" at 9th level.
I would also note that Yasha's 101 damage in one hit in Echoes of the Solstice relies on several buffs from - you guessed it - magic users, as well as a crit. (fun fact! I rolled zero nat 20s during this, which is kind of weird although also I was mostly only rolling saves). Neither she nor Beau can one-shot one of the wizards on their own - even if they're teaming up only on one of them it's going to take 2-3 rounds, and meanwhile the other has, again, cast "fuck you" at 9th level in the meantime.

Fields of Mistria Birthday Approximations
Still in an art rut so I calculated all their birthdays on the Gregorian Calendar under the read more for those that like to draw their favorite characters on their birthdays.
edit: compressed into a single image
Also the math isn't perfect so I will list all the flaws in the data and my own calculations at the end but I am pretty confident in what I have managed to achieve so far. The fat chunk of text at the end is by no means required reading but may answer some questions that may arise.
edit: sorry forgot abt Adeline. Shes Jan 26
Jan 1-3 Errol 7-10 Darcy*
Feb 9-11 Hemlock March 11-13 Ryis 31 - Olric
April 1-2 Olric 19-21 March
May 5-8 Luc*
June 4-6 Elsie 17-19 Vera
July 7-9 Balor 13-15 Celine 19-21 Josephine
August 1-3 Eiland 14-16 Nora 21-23 Maple 30-31 Valen*
September 1-2 Valen* 9-11 Landen 16-18 Merri
October 5-7 Reina 12-14 Holt 18-20 Dozy 31 Louis
November 1-2 Louis 7-9 Teritha 20-22 Juniper
December 6-8 Dell 19-21 Henrietta 22-24 Hayden
*The middle date of the range is my assumed option. (i.e Reina is October 5-7 so I'll just assume Oct 6) *This is based on the Northern Hemisphere since it snows in Mistria. Spring 1 translated to our calendar would be equivalent to March 1-4. *There was an extra day that could not be equally distributed so I picked a day that would be ultimately inconsequential. (Feb. 28/Winter 28) Aside from the estimated dates, putting it anywhere else only makes it so Henrietta has one day in Capricorn. and changes the bullet point above. *Darcy, Luc, and Valen have four days while everyone has three bc 365/112 produces a decimal value (3.26) so I evenly distributed an additional day to every 1st, 5th, 9th, 13th, 17th, 21st, and 25th day. >>This decision was unfortunately subjective. As opposed to doing the 4th, 8th, 12th, 16th, 20th, 24th, & 28th which would have affected the following: >>>Vastly increased the list of 4 day estimates to Ryis, March, Balor, Josephine, Eiland, Nora, Landen, Reina, Dozy, Louis, and Hayden. This puts too much guess work on a "center" day >>>Everyone's estimated dates are effectively shifted by -1. >>>March Would still be either an Aries or Taurus without a skew towards either, Maple would be a pure Leo, Juniper would be a pure Scorpio, and Hayden would have one day in Capricorn. >>>Had this been the decision, I would have probably put the extra day into March 1st/Spring 1 purely because the thought to do the days divisible by 4 was an afterthought and I'm too lazy to retype all the numbers and putting the extra day on Spring 1 just realigns everyone with the data presented above.
Thank you for reading!
p.s. if someone can get me Caldarus' birthday bc I have seen that screenshot where he tells you that it is his birthday but it does not show the in-game UI so the date is not visible. There's a random gaming article that lists it as Spring 25(May18-20 Taurus) but I do not trust any of them to do their jobs right honestly.
#fields of mistria#sorry everyone who followed me for art but i'm secretly a statistics nerd so i jump at the chance to use Excel spreadsheets#lazarambles#I do fear this might have come off as a little bit insane#fombirthdays

20 Questions for Fic Writers
I was tagged by the wonderful and fabulously talented @cliophilyra
1. How many fics on AO3?
57
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
357,820
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently it's predominantly 9-1-1, but I also write for 9-1-1 Lone Star, and used to write for Roswell New Mexico.
4. What are your top 5 fics by Kudos?
Sipping Him Like Whiskey
For this Child I Have Prayed
A Contractual Kiss
Growing Pains
Stay With Me
5. Do you respond to comments?
Yes. I don't my best to
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
I generally as a rule of thumb make sure my angst riddled stories end on a happy or at least hopeful note.
But my WIP Carry On My Wayward Son, which should be completed some time this week will be my angstiest ending
7. What is the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Ohhhhh. That is a hard one. Really that would probably be every story in the Bedtime Stories Series
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Once on a rare pair fic. I deleted the hate and went on my merry way. It was properly tagged so there was no point arguing with someone who was mad I wrote this Flint/Kyle story.
9. Do you write Smut?
Absolutely! I write all kinds. Soft and sweet, emotional, humorous, kinky.
10. Do you write crossovers?
Technically? I have written 911 and 911 lone star into most of my stories even if it is just Easter eggs of the other show.
Otherwise, I'm open to it just haven't found the right inspiration to yet.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to the best of my knowledge. I'm not where near that popular of a fan fic author for anyone to steal my stories.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated.
I have not! I'd be extremely honored though if anyone ever wanted to translated my work though.
13. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
@girlwonder-writes and I have something in the works! I am very excited about it!
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
This is like asking which of my children are my favorite 😂. My original ship from way back when I was just starting to make my way into fandom was Gemma Doyle/Felicity Worthington from The Gemma Doyle Trilogy. But I also have fallen in love with a great many other ships over the years. These days, Malex, Lizobel, and Flint/Kyle from Roswell New Mexico still hold a special place in my heart. Then there is Luc and Oliver of the London Calling Series, Henry and Alex from Red, White, and Royal Blue, and Joe and Nicki from the Old Gaurd.
And I refuse to pick a favorite 9-1-1 universe ship. I love them all.
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
It's my tarlos/Campbell(tarlossoup) fic I started but have been struggling to write. I still have hope but it won't be for anything hot minute if I do.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Oh man. I want to say it's coming up with interesting concepts. I don't know if I am always the best as executing them. And I am notoriously hard on myself and my own writing. So. I dunno send praise I guess 😂 feed your local artists and writers with compliments.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Spelling, grammar, executing my ideas without getting lost in unnecessary details, sometimes putting the things in my head onto the page in the way I want in a satisfying way.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I LOVE IT! I am in awe of people who can do it and do it well. I wish I was better with language as so I could do it properly. I don't my best to include it where I can but I get self conscious about it
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Oh man way way back in the day I wrote Harry potter fan fiction on Fanfiction.net.
20. Favorite fic you wrote?
Again with asking me to choose a favorite child 😂.
Paul Strickland and the Case of the missing Lion
Madam Vega and the Sensational Six
I Wasn't Looking for You
Every story in the Calypso universe
Just a Kid From Roswell
Lancing the Wound
A Soft Glow
No pressure tags for @marvelousbuckley @girlwonder-writes @nine-one-wanton @racerchix21 @rdng1230
And @dr-lizortecho @winged-fool @thepinkcrayon @thecarrott @dadbodbuck
And @30somethingautisticteacher @judymarch15 @herrmannhalsteadproduction @missmeryl92

Disney X Les Misérables
1. Jean Valjean - I imagine two characters "playing" him. In his younger years (before he was arrested, and sent to the galleys) I imagine him as Aladdin. And when he is older, I imagine him as Cassim.
I don't know how many people will remember this character (or this movie) but he is Aladdin's father and first appears in Aladdin and the King of Thieves (1996)
2. Fantine - I know that many people relate the character of Cinderella to Cosette (which is fair), but her appearance in the Disney films really reminds me of the Fantine, and how she described in the books:
"She was called Fantine because she had never been known by any other name [...] She had gold and pearls for her dowry; but the gold was on her head and the pearls in her mouth."
3. Euphrasie "Cosette" Fauchelevent - Okay, for Cosette I imagined these three characters for each "stage" of her life. The first two images are of Penny from The Rescuers (1977), and would represent her around the time she was rescued by Jean Valjean. The third is Princess Eilonwy from Black Cauldron (1985), who would represent Cosette at 12-14 years old, when she left the Petit-Picpus convent. And lastly, Princess Aurora would be her at 16-17 years old.
Also, I just noticed that while in the novel her hair is described to get darker over the years, here it seems like it has gotten lighter.
4. M. Thénardier - Dr. Facilier as Monsieur Thénardier, that's it! I could list a few reasons why I think these two fit together perfectly, but I think the decisive one for me is Facilier's expression in the masked ball scene (that would be the second image). It reminds me of the part of the novel where M. Thénardier sees Marius and Cosette's wedding procession during the Mardi Gras.
5. Bishop Myriel - The Archdeacon from The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1996). Yeah, I don't think there's much to explain about this one. Besides the two (in a way) being part of a work by Victor Hugo, their personalities and appearances fit together very well.
I also thought of Friar Tuck from Robin Hood, and more specifically, the anthropomorphic version of him that appears in the 1973 film.
6. Fauchelevent - For Fauchelevent I imagine Amos Slade from the movie The Fox and the Hound (1981). I remember that I didn't like this character when I was a kid, not necessarily because he was a hunter, but because of his "obsession" with capturing Tod. But looking back today, I believe it was because we were seeing the movie from the poor animals' point of view (I mean, his dog was hurt too).
But like Fauchelevent, I believe he is not necessarily a "bad guy" – perhaps a lonely, grumpy old man.
7. Monsieur Gillenormand and Mademoiselle Gillenormand - For Monsieur Luc-Esprit Gillenormand, I imagine his appearance to be similar to that of Georges Hautecourt from Aristocats (1970). And although the lawyer seems to be much more lively, pleasant and fun than M. Gillenormand, I really imagined his appearance to be something like that.
And for Mlle. Gillenormand, I picture Aunt Sarah from Lady and the Tramp (1955). Although I don't think Marius's aunt is as old as Aunt Sarah appears to be, so I picture her hair starting to turn gray, not completely white.
8. Toussaint - Last but not least: Nanny from 101 Dalmatians (1961) as Toussaint, the maid of Jean Valjean and Cosette. Let me tell you, to this day I find Nanny to be the most adorable female Disney character, the way she loves and cares for the Dalmatian puppies is just so cute, even in the live-action version.

Can't Fuck Bracket: Group Stage Release Schedule
Alright everyone, now that Group 1 has been posted, I'm going to be a normal poll runner and post the release date for the group stage
Each group has 3 characters, and I'm going to release them in 3 clusters so there aren't too many at once
Obviously, not all characters who fit into a particular group are in it, because I needed to organize them and it would be impossible to find 32 forms of criteria that would apply to 3 characters and 3 characters ONLY in a group of 96. So if you're thinking "X character would also fit in Y group!" - you're probably right. But I made executive decisions to be able to distribute them equally
Cluster A - Groups Separated by Fandom - 29/04 at midday UTC
Some fandoms had several characters submitted, so I tried to keep those together so that 1- the same big fandom can't own half the bracket; 2- small fandoms can have at least one round of fun before they're inevitably swept by Pikachu; and 3- we can have some healthy fandom debates
CLUSTER A GROUPS:
Group 2: Mob Psycho 100 (Part 2) - Toichiro Suzuki versus Dimple versus Reigen Arataka
Group 3: Chainsaw Man Male Characters - Aki Hayakawa versus Denji versus Kishibe
Group 4: Chainsaw Man Female Characters - Asa Mitaka versus Kobeni Higashiyama versus Power
Group 5: Endless Summer Characters - Jake McKenzie versus Everett Rourke versus Aleister Rourke
Group 6: Marvel Characters - Tony Stark versus Peter Parker versus Steve Rogers
Group 7: Shadowhunters (All Media Types) Characters - Jace Herondale versus Book!Alec Lightwood versus Clary Fairchild
Group 8: The Mysterious Benedict Society Characters - LD Curtain versus Jeffers versus Dr Garrison
Group 9: Death Note Characters - Light Yagami versus L Lawliet*
Group 10: Final Fantasy XIV Characters - Zero versus Estinien Wyrmblood versus Wedge
*only two characters from this media were submitted, so this group has 2 contestants
Cluster B - Groups Separated by Genre/Media Type - 01/05 at midday UTC
Group 11: Video Game Characters - Kaname Date (AI: The Somnium Files) versus Scout (Team Fortress 2) versus Stanley (The Stanley Parable)
Group 12: Adult Animation** - Strong Bad (Homestar Runner) versus Tord (Eddsworld) versus Gojo Saturo (Jujutsu Kaisen)
Group 13: Horror and Thriller - Adam Murray (The Mandela Catalogue) versus Jurgen Leitner (The Magnus Archives) versus Jack Chambers (Don't Worry Darling)
Group 14: Children's Animation - Osmosis Jones (Osmosis Jones) versus Grunkle Stan (Gravity Falls) versus Eberwolf (The Owl House)
Group 15: Books - Jason Grace (Heroes of Olympus) versus Peter Pevensie (Chronicles of Narnia) versus Hardin Scott (After)
Group 16: RPG - Hubert von Vestra (Fire Emblem: Three Houses) versus Anduin Wrynn (World of Warcraft) versus Gilear Faeth (Dimension 20: Fantasy High)
Group 17: Visual Novels - Miles Edgeworth (Ace Attorney) versus Sigma Klim (Zero Escape) versus Duke Richards (Desire and Decorum)
Group 18: Nintendo - Ghetsis (Pokémon) versus Bill Hawks (Professor Layton) versus Toad (Mario)
Group 19: Medialess - Mount Everest (Real Life) versus The Letter W (Latin Alphabet) versus Leg Emoji (Keyboard) versus Scoliosis (Submitter's Body)***
Group 20: Big Popular Anime - Black Leg Sanji (One Piece) versus Todoroki Enji (Boku No Hero Academia) versus Touka Kirishima (Tokyo Ghoul)
**NOT porn. That's pretty much the opposite of this contest. By this I mean "animation whose target audience is not children"
***to make up for Death Note having only 2 contestants, this group has 4. I picked this one to make up for it because it, by its nature, won't have any fandom involved, so it's not particularly unfair to its contestants that they have a slightly smaller chance of going forward
Cluster C - Groups Separated by Character Traits - 03/05 at midday UTC
Group 21: Submissions That Would Have Sent 2012 Tumblr Into A Nuclear War - The Onceler (The Lorax) versus Sherlock Holmes (BBC Sherlock) versus Jean Luc Picard (Star Trek The Next Generation) versus Wheatley (Portal 2) versus Dean Winchester (Supernatural) versus Sans (Undertale)****
Group 22: Characters The Submitters Didn't Think Needed Explaining - Olaf the Snowman (Frozen) versus Lord Farquaad (Shrek) versus Goofy (Disney)
Group 23: Immortal Characters - Booker (The Old Guard) versus Edward Cullen (Twilight) versus Dracula (Hotel Transylvania)
Group 24: Characters Tumblr Loves To Hate - Scott Pilgrim (Scott Pilgrim vs The World) versus Peter Griffin (Family Guy) versus Walter White (Breaking Bad)
Group 25: Childhood Classics - James (Pokemon) versus Ken (Barbie) versus Saruhara Shinichi (Super Sentai Franchise)
Group 26: Characters From Media Tumblr Could Be Normaler About - Palpatine (Star Wars) versus Greg Hirsch (Succession) versus Stede Bonnet (Our Flag Means Death)
Group 27: Vegan-Friendly - Indoor Peace Lily (Submitter's House) versus Seedless Watermelons (Grocery Store) versus Vegan Leather (Real Life)
Group 28: Characters That Inspired Paragraphs - Jiang Cheng (MDZS/The Untamed) versus Bertrand Beaumont (The Royal Romance) versus Joe Goldberg (You)
Group 29: Canon Incels/Shitty Lays - Severus Snape (Harry Potter) versus Tim Campbell (Crazy Ex Girlfriend) versus Ace (Powerpuff Girls)
Group 30: Failgirls - Lydia Rodarte-Quayle (Breaking Bad) versus Lumpy Space Princess (Adventure Time) versus Reagan Ridley (Inside Job)
Group 31: British Men - Prince Charming (Shrek) versus Wallace (Wallace and Gromit) versus Steven Merrick (The Old Guard)
Group 32: Others - Chuck McGill (Better Call Saul) versus Neelix (Star Trek Voyager) versus Dozen Roshuto (Reigen Manga)
****since this group has 6 contestants, 2 will move forward. This makes up for Group 1 technically not sending any character forward, and maintains the chances of a character getting through as the same as the other ones

Twenty Questions to Ask a Writer
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
Currently 70. Including 3 unfinished WIPs
2. What's your total A03 word count?
128,508 according to stats
3. What fandoms do you write for?
90% Star Trek. I will occasionally write other stuff, and I had wider interests when I first started writing, but all I've been interested in writing for the past year is Star Trek.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
First: Harry Potter and the Unexpected Ability to Socialise (Hp, gen)
Second: Breaking the Temporal Prime directive. (ST:LD x ST:SNW, gen) https://archiveofourown.org/works/49712530
Third: The Weasley Twins V/S the World (HP, gen)
Fourth: Secrets that Hide in the Light. (St:SNW, F/F) https://archiveofourown.org/works/49372045
Fifth: Rescuing Una (ST:SNW, F/F)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes always. I love having conversations and I love knowing what people think. (Sometimes I take weeks and weeks to reply. I am forgetful but I usually will reply eventually.)
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Everything in my series "To Die a Million Meaningless Deaths." (ST:TNG, 5 works)
https://archiveofourown.org/series/3684103
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Most my romantic fics end happily. But in terms of the happiest ending compare to the start, I'd go with "The More Things Change, the More They Stay the Same" (ST:SNW, F/F) https://archiveofourown.org/works/49924192
8. Do you get hate on fics?
When I was on FFnet in the dark ages yes. On AO3, only from the Harry Potter Fandom.
9. Do you write smut?
Mostly fade to black or yearning but it's been known to happen.
10. Do you write crossovers?
Crossovers within star trek, yes.
Most other crossovers are usually just stories where I'm using the setting/themes of one world with the characters of another. So not in the actual sense.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Back in the dark ages yes. Plus I'm sure AI has scrapped all my words and more.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Not that I'm aware of.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes many. One has been finished and published. "Understanding Lilith" (Owl house, gen) https://archiveofourown.org/works/54627781/chapters/138424342
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
All star trek charcacters; Una/La'an, Christine Chapel/T'Pring, Beverly Crusher/Jean Luc Picard, Seven/B'Elanna/Harry, B'Elanna/Harry, Jadiza/Kira.
15. What's the WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
Harry Potter and the Unexpected Ability to Socialise.
I started writing it to get back into fanfiction, but I didn't finished it before I divorced the fandom. I can't bring myself to write in the world of such a hateful bigot.
Also I started to write in present tense for Star trek and it's pretty impossible to switch back.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Inserting random world building and keeping characterisation close to the original when writing AUs.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Discribing things, remembering to add in the background details visual people expect. (I've got aphantasia lol)
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Good luck to those who try. I don't know know another language well enough to ever publish the attempt.
But somewhat related, I enjoy messing with the universal translator in my stories.
19. First fandom you wrote for
Either Harry Potter or Voyager.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
It's a tie between "Secrets that Hide in the Light" (https://archiveofourown.org/works/49372045) and "Off-putting Missions and False Alarms" (ST:SNW, gen, Una & Pelia) (https://archiveofourown.org/works/53742529)

I was tagged by @rosieblogstuff 😃
1. How many works do you have on AO3?
259. I really want to hit 100 stories in both MacGyver and White Collar fandoms. 😁
2. What's your total AO3 word count?
594,984. That averages out to 2,297 words per work, which is actually better than I thought it would be. I write a lot of short pieces.
3. What fandoms do you write for?
In order of most fics to least: White Collar, MacGyver 2016, Teen Wolf, White Collar RPF, Dark Angel, Supernatural. There are a few other fandoms, but they're related to an event I did on LJ where you wrote down 15 characters from various fandoms, and people gave you random numbers, and you had to write a drabble/ficlet that included those characters.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
Redraw the Lines (White Collar)
Letter T: Tired (Teen Wolf)
Letter Q: Quilt (Teen Wolf)
Letter K: Kidfic (Teen Wolf)
Friendly Advice and Family Dinner (White Collar)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
I always plan to respond, but I'm super behind at the moment. One of these days, I'm going to catch up!
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Listen, I'm not proud of it, but I did once write the death of Peter and Elizabeth's dog Satchmo in White Collar fic.
On the MacGyver front, it's hard to tell. Maybe Regrets (Jack) where Jack decides they all need to leave the Phoenix.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
I don't know that I would classify many of my fics as having a happy ending. I think Altered Course, the AU where Jack and Diane decide to foster Mac after his grandfather dies, has a pretty happy ending.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
No, not really. There are a couple of White Collar fics that I wrote that some people didn't like, but I still didn't get hate for them.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Nope.
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I haven't finished one, but I've tried a couple of White Collar/Teen Wolf crossovers. That event I did with the 15 characters included crossovers, but they were so short, I don't know that they really counted.
The craziest one from that was probably Luc Johnston (Tru Calling), Peyton Sawyer (One Tree Hill), and Peter Burke (White Collar) In a love triangle.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
I don't think so.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
I don't think so.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes, back in the post-Dark Angel days. A friend and I did a kind of role-playing thing where we wrote a bunch of Dark Angel fic that was mostly never posted, and several Dawson's Creek fics that were CJ/Jen-centric.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Is the Ever Given too obvious?
15. What's a WIP you want to finish, but doubt you ever will?
I have a whole folder of fics called Limbo. I've talked about this one before, but I have this idea (and I posted a ficlet of it during an event last year, I think) where Mac spirals after Jack "dies", becomes addicted to pain pills, and pushes everyone away until Jack comes back. I would love to write it, but the amount of research needed boggles my brain.
Another one that I probably won't finish is the one post-Regrets (Jack) where (post-Phoenix) Team Improv becomes an elite Search and Rescue team where Jack flies the helicopter, Mac gets winched down to rescue people, etc.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Oh, this is a good question! And also a tough question. Umm, Jack's voice, finding unique ways to twist an h/c story, and the occasional zinger dialogue.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Also a good question and another tough one. Fully fleshing out scenes, not starting paragraphs with someone's name, and coming up with endings that aren't cheesy.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
I'm uncomfortable with it because I don't speak any other languages, and everything I know about translation apps/sites makes me nervous. I named a fic with a word from another language, and I often think about changing it because I'm worried it means something terrible in a different language.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
General Hospital. Those fics are lost to time (or the secret FFN account that I will never share). I was 14/15, and they were terrible. But I'm so glad I had that brief fandom experience.
20. Favourite fic you've ever written?
For White Collar, it's Redraw the Lines. I really don't think that answer will ever change. For MacGyver, that answer changes often, and I'm still writing stuff, so maybe I haven't written it yet. Today, it's Wearing Your Wounds.
I'm not sure who's been tagged so far, so if you want to play, please say you were tagged by me! 😃

20 questions for fic writers
Not going to lie - no one tagged me in this lol - but I am doing it .
1. How many works do you have on ao3?
47.
2. What's your total ao3 word count?
322,829.
Crazy number for me. I know some have literal millions but I can’t believe I’ve written that much in like the last two or three years??
3. What fandoms do you write for?
Currently Star Trek (TNG/VOY/PIC & some DS9). ER and Criminal Minds more so in the past. But ER I’ll never leave you.
4. What are your top five fics by kudos?
Aster
- my labor of love - no pun intended.
- i WILL finish her (manifest it pls).
A Flame In Your Heart
- going to be honest writing post s3 isn’t something that interests me the most.
- however, this is a cute story and i wish i had some more ideas for it as i feel like i lack direction.
I Should Have Moved Moons For You
- ahhh.
- a fic I really should have pre-written before posting but i do have fun with it.
- i am half confident she will be finished in time but it stresses me out thinking about it and my outline lol.
- but like most of my WIPs the chapters are all outlined and i do have semi-concrete endings for them or at least know the main plot.
A Lot Of Things Can Happen In Two Months
- like the concept but i think i could have written it better ?
- feels a bit messy but also there are a lot of feelings in it.
- but happy i got it finished !! and i am proud of it overall.
Eighteen Minutes
- ngl I forgot I wrote this lol.
- the only one-shot here.
- def benefited kudos wise from being posted after the second episode aired.
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not?
Yes! And I love to give comments regardless if I get a reply from the author. But personally, I like to reply back as the commenter has taken their time to do this. And you can have some really lovely and funny interactions in the comments haha … I just love talking about fic.
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Well…it would have to be either of the ones I killed Beverly in - Last contact or Too Late.
Not sure which is more angstiest?
However, as for a multichap ending that ends the most angstiest and wasn’t written to be a character-death-fic - maybe - A Lot Of Things Can Happen In Two Months. Which sucks cause it’s pretty much canon compliant LOL.
Hmm now I am tempted to write another multichap with a less than happy ending…
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Most of my fics that have an ‘ending’ are WIPS that I haven’t finished yet lol.
But maybe Our Turn - it’s just Beverly and Jean-Luc enjoying everything wonderful in their lives <3
8. Do you get hate on fic?
Not really - I doubt anyone cares enough lol. But I am ‘fortunate’ that some of the more ‘controversial’ ships I may write have had writers come before me and take the brunt of any crap :(( but they’ve created a lovely sandbox for the rest of us to play in <3
9. Do you write smut?
Not often but I have yeah…and *deep breaths* … I have no idea if I am even acceptable at it LOL. It’s definitely something I sometimes want to add to my fics and lately I’ve been giving in a little.
Okay, someone tell me if I am terrible and I will stop.
10. Do you write crossovers?
It’s not my go to thing but yes I have. Including the fusion ER/TNG fic that three people have probably read (but three people I love).
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Nope.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
No but that would be cool as!
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Yes! With my lovely and supportive ER fic buddies ❤️
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
Not sure how best to answer this. It is very dependant on my current hyperfixation and I am one of those sapphics that very much is into the woman more than the man in terms of interest in f/m ships…
However, at the moment it’s Beverly/Jean-Luc and I can say I am definitely more invested and interested in Jean-Luc’s character than I have been with other men in f/m ships. So that’s another reason.
But I love to read/write Crusher/Janeway ❤️ and LOVE those characters. Kerry/Sandy too is special to me.
Can honestly say apart from helping me give Emily Prentiss a baby in my fics I never cared that much for any of her ships I wrote (sorry 😭).
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but probably won't?
Probably better I don’t answer this. It stresses me out cause I want them all to be done 😭
I’ll answer with a WIP I never posted which was a dystopian AU with Kerry and Sandy. Field medicine, babies (it’s me so ofc) and friends trying to survive together.
16. What are your writing strengths?
Hmm - I think I can come up with some good ideas. I can be good at description and introspection … probably more than dialogue.
And I am very strong in the art of giving Beverly Crusher lots of babies. And also making her go through angsty stuff. But I make up for that with the babies I think.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Long intricate plots ? I would love to be better as balancing many themes and plot points in one story. I struggle with dialogue sometimes as well.
Also I am very word count preoccupied at times which is a hindrance as a writer. I sometimes really struggle to get anything out in a session then can overcompensate later by writing too much? But honestly either way I just let myself go with the flow these days otherwise I stress about it.
Yeah and I probably need to edit better.
And smut.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
Is this controversial?? I don’t have any issue with it.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
(redacted)
20. Favourite fic you've written?
These are both not what I would consider my best work (idk what that even is) but probably Gone (Ice)fishing or It Takes A Village.
Both were written as gifts and out of my comfort zone (for different reasons) but I am really proud of them both.
But I also love some of my Kerry/Sandy one-shots I did here on this blog. And Aster is definitely a personal accomplishment in terms of length as a writer. I love it too ❤️.
Oh, also - To Build A Home - cause it’s tragic & angsty but also BABY🥹 - it’s just my brand.
—————————————————
Okay -I’ll shut up now.
Anyone feel free to do this and tag me.

Beyblade World Tournament: MD12-MD17
The early second half of that one random comparison tournament thing I'm doing because I can. Nothing more needs to be said. I still think the fact that Phi and Hyde don't have a known surname looks off compared to all the others.
This is used in the event of all the peeps having the original beys. Mainly because Hasbro beys are about as appealing as Sage hentai, and also because on Hasbro beys, the hax don't exist.

Level-Up Post: Mighty Nein: Echoes of the Solstice addendum
This is going to be short and sweet (ish) and covering deviations or clarifications to the pre-show post.
Everyone (except Luc) (and Aggy): level 20!
Fjord: I stand by my opinion that Open Sea Paladin 7's Aura of Liberation is superior to Hexblade 14's Master of Hexes, but both are very solid and the important thing is that Aura of Protection from paladin 6. We don't know his invocation but we do know his L13 Warlock Mystic Arcanum, Crown of Stars, or, more accurately to how he flavored it,
Beau: She DID take the mobile feat, and I'm so happy. 70 ft/round base walking speed. Monks, y'all.
Caleb: has the Wish spell; is using it solely, currently, to replicate lower spells, which is iconic of him. Responsible casting at its finest. One of his at-will 1st level spells is Fortune's Favor, but I don't think we got any of the others, and I believe his feat is also unknown.
Veth: We do not know; truly hilarious of Sam to do this. Don't worry; I'll talk about Luc in a second.
Jester: Her feat is Flash Recall, which is in the TCSR and allows you to replace a prepared spell with another spell of the same level without a long rest. Very good for Jester, whose spell prep is iconic in its eclecticism (complimentary).
Caduceus: much like his careful evasion of any questions from others asking how he was doing during the campaign (also complimentary), his feats - level 19 and level 16 remain a mystery (though we know his INT increased with his level 16 feat). In short:
Yasha: Took barbarian levels and has the CON and STR to prove it; also took Great Weapon Master, which is a solid option.
Our guests:
Rab "Aggy" Agg: Level 5 monk; no subclass we die like Bertrand Bell.
Luc Brenatto: I don't know how by how much the potion increased his level; at least to level 7 rogue (Evasion) from his base Arcane Trickster Rogue 5/War Mage Wizard 3. For a quick refresh on Arcane Trickster and rogue low levels, Luc has expertise, sneak attack, and uncanny dodge as well as the special arcane trickster mage hand abilities. He has 3 cantrips and 4 spells known from his rogue subclass. Meanwhile, as a wizard he has arcane recovery (not used; a long rest but no short ones), can prepare 6 spells from his spellbook, and he is treated as a 4th level spellcaster (1/3rd his rogue level rounded down plus his wizard level), so he can cast up to 2nd level spells. War mage is, on its own, notably a kind of shitty wizard subclass, but it's actually hilarious and pretty great as a multiclass option here. Luc used Arcane Deflection, which lets him use his reaction to grant either an AC bonus or a saving throw bonus, although when used you cannot cast spells other than cantrips until your next turn. This sucks if you are a wizard, but Luc is a rogue with an Aeorian security cannon, so it's fine. He also gets a +3 (INT mod) to his initiative.

Characters out of context - Gram
It’s been a while since I’ve done one of these. We all know Gram’s lines are the best, so I definitely have to do one of these for him.
Include one character quote — of your choosing — from each chapter of your WIP (or as many chapters as you’d like).
Gram out of context below the cut
Hey sorry about that. You alright…
Hey sorry about that. You alright…
Chapter 2
Do those idiots in charge really want to start another war?
Chapter 3
I’ve gotten kind of used to having your dumb ass around so try not to do anything too stupid.
Chapter 4
You know, I should be happy that you listened to me for a change, but I did bet Luc you’d do something stupid, so I’m honestly a little disappointed.
Chapter 5
Don’t mind him, he’s just a sore loser.
Chapter 6
I know what you’re thinking and the answer is hell no.
Chapter 7
I guess. But shooting you would be more fun.
Chapter 8
She always has more information than she’s telling you, dumbass. That’s the problem.
Chapter 9
Don’t die out there. If you do, I’ll come find you and kick your ass.
Chapter 13
Believe me, I’ve wanted to hate him. I probably should. But I guess I know him too well.
Chapter 14
You’ve pretty much summed him up right. He’s a total dumbass. A complete jerk. Pretty much the worst a guy can be when it comes to dealing with other people. He’s a clueless asshole and an idiot. But if you can get past all that, he’s not a bad guy.
Chapter 15
Even if that’s true, it’s too risky. Kaori would be all too happy to bring the entire Military down on her brother and the Syndicate, you know that. These two would only be the bait. Hell, maybe that’s been her plan all along. It wouldn’t surprise me if she’d thought that far ahead.
Chapter 16
That was stupid! I said stay close!
Chapter 17
Don’t worry, I’ll be careful. But this is something I have to do.
Chapter 18
As much as I want to call you a dumbass and tell you that you’re right, I can’t. Sure, you made a bad call. You’ve already paid the price for it. I made the wrong call out there at the canyon. I have to live with that. Beating ourselves up isn’t going to help. All we can do is move on and make damned sure we protect that girl.
Chapter 19
Well if you can’t stop someone from being an idiot, I guess the next best thing is to do something stupid yourself.
Chapter 20
All I saw was a kid. A kid who’d probably never been a kid before. A kid who’d been left behind by his own people. The whole thing just didn’t sit right with me. I tried to stand up for him, but I was just a soldier. I didn’t have any sway or authority. So I did the only thing I could. It was probably the dumbest thing I’ve ever done, but it’s also one of the few things I don’t regret. I got him out of there.
-
Some quotes I haven’t broken into chapters yet:
Don’t flatter yourself. Me? Your enemy? I’ve got much bigger fish to fry than a kid like you.
-
Nah, go on. We both know being alone only makes him more stupid.

The thing about Nix is: He’s. A. Dumbass. If you don’t lay things out for him, he’s never going to get it.

My (not very realistic) wish list for episode 141
1. Blooming Grove Clay family reunion! Hugs and tears! Home-cooked meal and tea! Much needed relaxation and downtime after saving the world.
2. Widogast’s Nascent Nein (9!) Sided Tower because Caleb still has a spell slot for that! So many cats and books. Also, rooms for Essek and Molly (9!). Bonus: seeing more rooms on the 8th floor of the tower?
3. Check in and visiting Allura to return her staff and Kima’s Holy Avenger (”hey we saved the world killed Lucien stopped the city Allura are you proud of us? You are? Tell us who is on the Tal’Dorei council.”)
4. Check in and visiting Yussa and Wensforth to apologize for their last visit to the Tidepeak Tower and using his emergency exit plan, but Yussa being too grateful to be saved from a screaming city hivemind to care.
5. Molly getting more and more of his memory back and slowly becoming his old flamboyant self.
6. Caleb says goodbye to Frumpkin and there is either a sweet farewell or Frumpkin just goes “nah fam I choose my wizard you can’t get rid of me”.
7. Beau and Yasha moments, conversations, fun times, shameless PDA, or potentially fade to black because they deserve it.
8. Jester and Fjord being domestic, adorable and sharing kisses/conversations or potentially fade to black because they deserve it.
9. Caleb and Essek have a long one-on-one conversation about their “it’s complicated” relationship and have some more physical contact (still reeling from the forehead touch last episode).
10. Veth, Yeza and Luc’s joyful/tearful family reunion and happy fun times in which Veth and Yeza may or may not celebrate in private.
11. Cad’s moments with his family and also with Molly (because it’s fun to watch them on screen together and conversing let’s be real).
12. Jester’s reunion with her mother with big hugs and finding out that parent trap TM has succeeded thanks to her genius plans. Also, the gentleman being a super awkward but loving dad.
13. The Mighty Nein plans for the future: getting rid of Cloven Crystal, Fjord visiting Vandran (with Jester probably, who discusses Tusk Love with him) and maybe Sabian? Yasha’s plan to bring flower to Zuala (trip with Beau?). Beau’s plans regarding Zeenoth’s trial (has that happend yet? Does she want to go?) and Caleb’s plans for the assembly (or even further ahead, magical school? Aeorian research with Kryn Colleague? How pissed is Ludinus Da’leth?)
14. Getting an update about Astrid and Eadwulf to find out that they are in fact doing fine because Trent is in deep trouble and under heavy investigation by the Augen Trust and Cobalt Soul (bonus: Trent is already starting to get what he deserves. Or even better, Trent has died from liver failure in jail. Like his jaundice really kept getting worse so one can hope I guess?)
15. Fjord officially “meeting the parents” and Gentleman/Marion giving Fjord the shovel talk because that didn’t happen last time.
16. Wedding mentions/discussions? Proposals? Anyone? No?
17. Artagan/sprinkle joins in the celebration because why not (bonus: Sprinkle gets to be free! Or whatever an undead weasel could be lmao)
18. Obligatory wish for Essek’s fancy dunamancy or magical items (like I know we will never see dark star probably but I live for spell casting flavours).
19. Obligatory wish for the polymorph spell (look, I just love it okay).
20. Obligatory wish for Caleb to use more fire/customized/dunamantic spells creatively or with nice flair (what’s sexier than wizards NOTHING).
21. Discussion about Essek’s future because oh boy can he even go back to the Dynasty? Have they found him out yet? If they did, how mad is the Bright Queen? Are Volstruckers too busy to chase him down? We need to know!
22. Group hug! Group feast! Group cheer! I dunno, just do group stuff. They are the Mighty Nein, they are the Mighty Nine, they saved the world!
23. Visiting/checking in with other NPCs or allies potentially! Like Kiri, Calianna, Twiggy, Keg, Shakasta, Bryce, Dagen oh also the Hag (I’m kidding).
24. Obligatory wish for everyone (the Nein, their friends/families) to get a happy ending that gives me a feeling of satisfaction and fulfillment, and that the episode/campaign ends with a poetically beautiful scene!
Wow, I cannot believe that we are near the end. What an incredible journey it has been. I cannot express how glad and grateful I am to have discovered critical role campaign two. To quote Vax’ildan, “how lucky I have been to have had all of you. How lucky indeed”. I love the cast and their characters, and the stories that they each build and then tell together. It has been such a joy in my life and something I look forward to every week - next week is no exception!
Now, let me say it once more with the amazing DM -
Is it Thursday yet?

TCM is honoring Jane Powell with an afternoon lineup of her films on Saturday, Oct. 16. The actor and singer, who passed away Sept. 16 at age 92, was one of the top MGM musicals stars of the '40s and '50s and she was a great friend of the network and classic movie fans. Your best bet is Powell's career-defining performance in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers (1954) at 6 pm ET/3 pm PT. Powell is at her feisty best as pioneer woman Milly, but she's also subtle and sweet when the part requires it and "Wonderful, Wonderful Day" is a great showcase for her voice. The rest of the lineup is made up of three MGM musicals. Luxury Liner (1948) at noon ET, Small Town Girl (1953) at 2 pm ET, and Royal Wedding (1951) at 4 pm ET. In the last film, Powell steals the show from costar Fred Astaire during a sassy Vaudeville-type number.
Here's the best of the rest for the week of Oct. 11, 2021:
1. Nine to Five (1980) at 10 pm ET/7 pm PT Monday, Oct. 11: Legends Jane Fonda, Dolly Parton, and Lily Tomlin team up for this '80s workplace comedy. This film is still a fiercely funny takedown of sexism in the workplace -- it's also a rare female buddy movie -- and there's not a woman alive who can't relate to it on some level.
2. Breathless (1961)) at 12:15 am ET/9:15 pm PT Tuesday night/Wednesday morning: TCM's spotlight on New Wave movements continues with director Jean-Luc Godard's film about a gangster (Jean Paul Belmondo) and chic young woman (Jean Seberg) on the lam. It is THE essential film of the Nouvelle Vague.
3. Border Incident (1949) at 8 pm ET/5 pm PT Wednesday, Oct. 13: This uncompromising, surprisingly contemporary film noir about the immigration crisis at the U.S./Mexico border is more relevant in 2021 than it was in the 1949. Simply, put it's one of the best old Hollywood noirs, and it lingers in your mind long after you've watched it. Border Incident is part of a night of films honoring Hispanic Heritage month. Mexican actor Ricardo Montalban stars in Border Incident and another great noir airing Wednesday night: Mystery Street (1948) at 1:45 am ET/10:45 pm PT.
4. House of Wax (1953) at 6:30 pm ET/3:30 pm PT Thursday, Oct. 14: It just wouldn't be October without a little Vincent Price on our list. The horror icon plays the very dedicated owner of the world's creepiest museum in this classic fright-fest (too bad TCM viewers can't see it in its original 3-D format).

A Woman’s Work - S14 E30 - Liveblog (comments added under cut)
Here we go....
Edit 1: Ahhhh Ric straight off with the sexism. “a female consultant skilled at manipulating people, I think it’s fair to say I’m familiar with the species”
Edit 2: HER MEETING JAC! A thing to note, she’s very bubbly, very personable. Very (supposedly) none-threatening.
Edit 3: Jesus, Luc, are you saying you kissed Eddi and then swanned off on a trip for a few weeks? That’s where you’ve been hiding? Trauma consultants, I swear to god...
Edit 4: They really did Catherine no favours with this wardrobe.
Edit 5: “I’m really looking forward to working here. I think it’s going to be fun.” WOW, sweetie, you have no idea what this place is going to put you through.
Edit 6: You really get the feeling that Serena takes total pleasure in her job.
Edit 7: I think that the fact that both Serena and Bernie’s first full episodes with Ric concern his possessive nature about patients says more about him than it does them. Also: F.O.H.
Edit 8: “I must’ve missed the large sign round her neck saying Property of Ric Griffin.” “I guess I’ll just have to make a BIGGER sign then.” - I’m sorry what sort of alpha male crap is this. My sign bigger than your sign, Ric?
Edit 9: Funding for CTU has been cut. At least Hanssen told Darwin himself and the funding was always an issue/in play, they had various episodes where Sahira got dolled up for donors and they reviewed the scheme with the Board. And yes I am still bitter about them closing the Trauma Unit without even giving Bernie a heads-up!
Edit 10: Honestly, Ric could start scent-marking Keller and I’d be unsurprised.
Edit 11: “A Ric Griffin Masterclass. Terrific. Best offer I’ve had all year.” which, roughly translated, means: “You patronising so and so, I will give you just enough rope and hope you hang yourself.”
Edit 12: I forget how Conservative Serena is sometimes. Also, jealous Luc is fantastic.
Edit 13: “A proper NHS idealist, good for you. I’d heard you were a dying breed.” - and if you’re not, she will kill you herself, Ric, okay?
Edit 14: I can’t BELIEVE that Ric goes to Hanssen to complain. It’s so sexist.
“And Ms Campbell’s list of accomplishments is intimidating.”
“I assure you I am in no way intimidated by her.”
“Right. So let me get this clear: your gripe is that I’ve appointed an extremely well-qualified surgeon to share your workload who, in your opinion, is just too efficient. And then, to add insult to injury, I’ve bought your department a state of the art new piece of equipment, well, I can see why you’d be peeved.”
Edit 15: SHE’S SO CALCULATING. She’s instantly got an agenda. It’s quite glorious though.
Edit 16: “She’s 10% surgeon. 90% business woman.”
Edit 17: “I appreciate that you must have had your reasons for appointing her.” SITS DOWN, HANDS STEEPLED. “But I have to make it clear that I simply can’t work with the woman.” - It’s so sexist. It’s soooo sexist. What kind of position do you even think you’re in to be making those demands, Ric? It’s her first day, she’s been there less than 12 hours and for gods sake are you telling me you’d do this with a man? REALLY?
Edit 18: “Look, I get it. I’m not everyone’s cup of tea. I have a certain way of doing things.” - Christ, why do I feel like that’s her mother talking?
Done!
