🙌🏼🤔🙃 this is all too true. Self sabotage. Self jinx. I’ve always wondered why one thing after another kept pushing be back from where I wanted to be. 😔 & ultimately it was ME. Being negative ALL the time & wanting to have things & to be a certain place in life & yet still thinking I will NEVER get there. THAT is what held me back. Always holding on to the negative instead of moving forward & thinking about what I HAVE, that I should be grateful for. As we went to get our tickets to see the Aling Aling waterfall I was getting increasingly annoyed at the ambush of ‘you need a guide!’ After pointless questioning that fell on deaf ears we gave in and got a guide. I am now eating my words! He was amazing and the day would not have been such a memorable one without him. We set off on yet another trek down hundreds of makeshift steps, surrounded by the most amazing mountains lined in trees consisting of every shade of green you can imagine. Halfway down a fluorescent green snake slithered across the path in front of us. Or guide casually told us it was extremely poisonous which at that point we all hot stepped it down the uneven rocks they called steps. The more you descend the louder the sound of pounding waterfall gets and the moment you clasp eyes on it is the moment you truly love nature and all it’s beauty. We stood in awe of this natural creation and as the spray hit our face we all smiled. At the next waterfall our guide explained we could slide down this one!! Eekkk Of course Robin was game straight away, and to my surprise Lincoln wanted in too!! Lois and I sat nervously as we filmed Robin then Lincoln slide down this 10 meter waterfall. Proudness consumed me. Once they were back on dry land Robin said I had to try it. Of course I laughed and said no way but as I said it I thought why not? So off Lincoln and me went! It was crazy, fun and most of all living in the moment. I loved it! We then all jumped off rocks and Lois slid down a smaller waterfall with Robin. Our guide constantly advising us, helping the kids and joining in with our fun. He then showed us a 10 meter high cliff jump, fearless Robin stepped forward and within a blink of an eye he was waving from the water below. Then again to my total surprise Lincoln stepped forward. Every motherly bone in my body wanted to stop him but life is for living and his confidence inspires me. Legs shaking he jumped and I shone with proudness, I almost felt like shouting 'that’s my son’ but then I realised the only other people that were there where already cheering, shouting and clapping with joy for him. The fearless courage that Lincoln possess is a gift and one that I hope stays with him for life. As we clambered back up from the water Robin and our super guide went and jumped from a 15 meters cliff. Robin too is an inspiration in living in the moment and just simply having fun. We all had such a special time there and left exhausted. The waterfalls there are sacred to the Balinese people and many go there to pray. They have become sacred to me too today and this is a memory I’m definitely bottling.
