Mia Love, First Black Republican Congresswoman, Dies at 49 Former Utah Congresswoman 

Mia Love, a wife, mother, mayor, and the first black Republican woman in the U.S. House of Representatives died of glioblastoma multiforme brain cancer on March 23, 2025, surrounded by her family.

When Love was initially diagnosed in March 2022, she had been battling the disease for 10 to 15 months. She lived for two years after her diagnosis. She was 49 years old at the time of her death.

Her family announced her death on social media: “With hearts overflowing with gratitude for Mia’s profound impact on our lives, we want to let you know that she passed away peacefully today.”
