Okay so I don't actually know if anyone else has done this already, but like, steven universe au for sun and moon! It makes so much sense to me, I mean.. SUNstone, MOONstone, and I actually found out that bumblebee jasper also goes by ECLIPSE stone, so yes. Ik that there are preexisting sunstone and moonstone characters in SU, but, sunstone is a fusion, and thus singular gems could look totally different, and the moonstone in the show was only shown in a corrupted form, so, booyah, I can make them look however I want >:)

Also, take the bumblebee jasper inspiration with a grain of salt lol, it's a fusion, not an actual jasper, so it looks different lol. I'm not completely sure about my color choices but hey, this one can just be their initial fuse, and I can improve the design later >:)

I tried to keep things generally compliant to the lore/rule of steven universe, but I also don't really watch it so like, if things are wrong, my bad.

Okay more about the actual character concepts/lore! Based primarily off of suns personality, I think that sunstones in general would be comedians, or in this case, court jesters. Witty, but not quite as springy or lighthearted as spinels. So think like, a little bit darker humor(not too dark ofc). They would also be somewhat like pearls in that they are frequently gifted as rewards to the aristocratic gems.(to be honest, I made both sun and moon sort of pearl coded, which I feel like makes sense, with how they are owned by Fazcorp, and don't really have a say in what they do-entertaining children and acting as security)

Sun was gifted to an aristocrat(semi making this up as I go, so not sure which type yet lmao), and made to perform tomfoolery and make quips during their parties. During one such party, sun make the wrong quip, and extremely offended one of the high-ranking guests(not a diamond, but definitely in the upper echelons, maybe a emerald?). I think that the diamonds would be too busy/not care all too much about court drama, and would let the gems deal with themselves, so long as nobody too precious was shattered. So, the offended aristocrat would send an "assassin" to off sun. And suprise suprise! That assassin is moon!

The show doesn't show much about regular moonstone, but the corrupted one had the ability to become invisible, except for their gem, so I feel as though they would make good assasins/thieves. Of course, it would be too dangerous to let them do as they please, so they are also put into service of higher ranking gems. (To reiterate-they are so totally pearl coded)

When moon comes to assassinate sun, sun panics and starts rambling, and ends up telling moon some shitty puns, which surprisingly make him crack up. I think he would have a secrete weakness to dad jokes and puns >:)

Instead of shattering sun, he temporarily poofs him, and takes suns gem with him.

to outsiders, your relationship with satoru is as much a blessing as it is a curse. it’s a blessing, because even your mere presence causes satoru’s talking to drop by a hefty 80% at the very least. it’s a curse, because satoru only stops his chattering to cling to you.

he wraps his arms around your waist, and nuzzles into the crook of your neck. he holds your hands, and cups his own face with them. he tucks your hair behind your ear and squeezes your cheeks together. he’s so utterly enamoured with you, that words suddenly feel unnecessary. and you let him be.

it’s his way of recharging, of finding little bits of peace in a stressful day. so, you allow him to do as he wishes, and simply continue whatever conversation you are having—as if satoru wasn’t currently biting your finger. you dismiss the looks of disgust people throw at him, finding the way he clings to you like a baby koala oddly endearing.

it’s a custom, by now. a custom that’s loved by the both of you, and only the both of you. so, yes—a blessing and a curse. satoru is quieter when you’re around, but in exchange for a (not so) healthy dose of pda.

actually I also wanna talk about the part where Percy convinces Bob to kill Hyperion because even though Percy never says anything outright sinister, the way he handles the entire situation with such cool ease, playing on Bob’s emotions... its so insane???

Because Annabeth’s reaction to the three of them encountering Hyperion reforming is: “oh this is bad we need to get out of here” She knows if Bob remembers himself, that it's not going to play out well for Percy and her. She also thinks about how they're being pursued and don't have a lot of time. Her solution to the problem, seemingly, is to leave.

But Percy's solution is to work the situation to his advantage. He re-affirms Bob's loyalty to him:

Percy then re-establishes Bob's moral code: "Some monsters are good. Some are bad. This Titan is bad. He tried to kill me and a lot of people. He's not good like you are."

And it ends with Percy leaving the choice of whatever to do with Hyperion to Bob but of course, is it really what Bob chose to do? Bob decides to kill Hyperion. It's not what he may have done, if Percy hadn't intervened. But it's exactly what Percy was oh-so-sweetly leading Bob to do.

And listen, I'm not claiming that it was exactly morally bankrupt of Percy to take advantage of a once-evil titan who could get him and his girlfriend through hell in one piece. Percy, Annabeth, they manipulate monsters and enemies all the time. Annabeth ended the previous book with manipulating Arachne into weaving her own web. So it's not exactly like she's against using manipulative tactics, in theory.

But Bob, at this point, is not just some monster. He is so painfully sincere in his belief in Percy and their friendship, so yes, it does feel a bit sinister whenever Percy uses Bob... and he really uses Bob.

And I think what makes the scene so unsettling, it isn't just that Percy manipulated Bob, its how well Percy manipulated him. He manipulates Bob so well that Percy doesn't even have to kill Hyperion... because Bob does it for him. He manipulates Bob so well, that Annabeth couldn't tell if Percy was purposefully trying to manipulate the situation. (Newsflash, he most definitely was). Like holy shit.
