'How do you spell Mjolnir?'

Bruce looks up from his laptop. Love sits opposite him at the kitchen table, pink glitter gel pen poised over the paper. She quickly covers her work when he leans over, but he glimpses a drawing of them all holding hands. Warmth fills his chest. Only a year ago, Thor had returned to New Asgard with a child resurrected by Eternity, bound by a promise to keep her safe. It hadn’t been easy, but they’d made it work.

‘Hello? Bruce?’ Love waves at him.

Bruce blinks. ‘Sorry, what did you say?’

‘Mjolnir. How do you spell it?’ She taps her pen against her chin.

‘M-O-I-J-N-A-R.’

‘Thanks.’

Bruce returns to his spreadsheet and fills in a few cells. Then stops. ‘Wait. Hang on. That’s not right.’

Love groans. ‘Aww, now I have to cross it out!’

There’s a chuckle behind them. Thor is slicing up vegetables for soup. After a lifetime of being waited on by Asgard’s finest, he’s learnt to enjoy cooking. ‘It is a difficult word to spell.’

MY Young Avengers Ranking by Debut)

Peter Parker from Captain America Civil War, (Iron Man 2). It's more of a technicality. He's a young Avenger not a Young Avenger. But it's worth noting that his debut was legendary.

Real #1: Cassie Lang from Ant-Man: Saucy, getting arrested fighting the good fight, already has her own archenemy, she's miles ahead of everyone. Get on her level. She even already has memes. Thanks, MCU! We love it!

#2: Vision from Age of Ultron, (Iron Man): I have always loved Vision, I will always love Vision. JARVIS died for your sins so that Vision could be the only voice of reason in the entire Avengers Organization. My man is five-years-old and serving up philosophical truths in a Sears catalog sweater.

#3: Billy and Tommy Maximoff from WandaVision: Scary creepy kids with Addams Family motif. More trauma. Heap it on there.

#4: Kate Bishop from Hawkeye: Charming, overwhelmed but eager to learn, tries to solve mysteries by how much she likes the suspects. Should work on that.

#5: Riri Williams from Black Panther Wakanda Forever: I deeply suspect that she will replace Iron Lad and/or Prodigy because Nate, David, and Elijah, are basically identical, so it makes sense to simplify it down to "Black genius who emulates Iron Man" and "Black genius who emulates Captain America." But anyway, Riri was funny and actually useful in the plot.

#6: Kid Loki from Loki: Every squad needs a short king. His Liege didn't do anything noteworthy in his debut, but he DID become a variant by killing Thor, so there's the delicious trauma we all crave.

#7: Elijah Bradley from The Falcon and the Winter Soldier: He did absolutely nothing but he still didn't do nothing AND take up screentime. Congratulations on the bare minimum.

#8: Love from Thor: Love and Thunder: I don't even know if she counts but they introduced every female Asgardian as an adult and she is now Thor's daughter, so she is by default the young Thordottir.

#9: America Chavez from Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness. DO SOMETHING. Anything! Run! How many people have to die because you need to be told to run from a murderer?!

The way it healed me in a way I didn’t even know I needed healing to know that Heimdall has a son and Thor adopted a daughter... like this movie really said Heimdall and Loki live on in the love they left behind and I am sobbing

Since I’m on a Thor Love and Thunder kick and a sucker for angst, here are some Jane Foster’s funeral headcanons

Valkyrie was waiting for Thor’s arrival, and was there to support him when he returned to New Asgard without Jane.

Thor is in a bit of shock, not exactly sure what to do with Love combined with the loss of Jane.

He’s only been to one earth funeral, so he has a general idea of what needs to be done.

Val offers to get Love settled so Thor can do what he has to. She soon gains that title of Aunt Val.

The first one he goes to see is Doctor Erik Selvig.

Erik is shocked to see him at first, he hasn’t seen Thor in 8 years. Then he realizes what happened when he sees Thor’s grim expression.

He invites Thor in for a cup of tea

The two sit in silence for a bit before Thor extends an invite to her memorial in New Asgard.

He leaves not long after.

Thor then goes and sees Jane’s other family members. He lets them know of the arrangements and to let anyone else know.

Except for one more person he has to see.

Darcy knows something is up when Jane misses her treatment.

She pays attention to the news and her phone as the days pass with no response from her best friend.

By day 3 Darcy goes to Jane’s home/lab and finds a book on Norse mythology left open.

She laughs to herself, now knowing that Jane is in good hands.

She’s watching TV when a sudden thunder storm begins outside her house, the rain beating down on her roof violently.

She knows what happened before she even opened the door. Only one thing could cause a storm this dark.

At the actual funeral…

Many show up at the memorial. Scientists from all around the world, friends, colleagues and family.

Funerals are for the living.

Pepper Potts shows up, Morgan Stark in tow.

She offers her condolences, and some single parenting advice.

They understand each other in a way.

Morgan sits with Love, showing her the best toys Earth has to offer.

Bruce Banner arrives as well. Thor doesn’t even notice that he’s no longer smart hulk.

An elderly man no one pays attention to sits in the back.

A white figure floats in the mountainside, trying to understand one of his creator’s feeling of grief.

Jimmy Woo arrives alone.

He motions to the sky when Darcy greets him.

He stands next to her the entire service. Offering his support as much as possible.

Erik gives a speech about Jane’s brilliance, how she was a fighter until the end.

Valkyrie explains that New Asgard will dedicate a statue to The Mighty Thor in honor of her bravery when saving the children.

Darcy covers a snort at the name.

Later that night, Thor gets drunk after Love is asleep.

He decides he must honor Jane with a tattoo as well.

This isn’t the only version of him with the tattoo.

WAIT CRACK THOUGHT TIME

Loki is watching TV in New Asgard after reuniting with Thor on one of his many adventures raising Love. Love is currently watching TV as well, and Uncle Loki decided to join her. Anything to spend quality time with his niece, right?

Well, she’s currently watching the Backyardigans.

Loki’s jaw drops.

“H-How… H-How did they escape?!?! I thought… I thought they were contained!!”

Turns out the Backyardigans are entities that exceed Asgard in age and we’re “defeated” by Odin long ago, and now whenever they come on tv Thor is left wondering why Loki cowers in fear whenever Love is bopping to Into the Thick of It
