Album Review

A NY hip-hop duo of Pharoah Monch and Prince Po. This actually their 2nd album.

It was released in 1994, but I didn't start listening to it until some years later.

I remember listening to this late at night in the studio when I was at Art School.

I have always had this custom of working and listening to music to help me get through it or give me energy. I am probably not alone in that.

When I was 14 or so, I would help my Aunt and Uncle at their photo studio. My job was to separate photos from picture frames. Their business was school photography. There were 1,000s of these. I would work for 8 hours a day while listening to music on headphones. I remember playing a lot Public Enemy Fear of a Black Planet. They would take me out for lunch. I always had a BLT.club sandwich and a coke.

Then from when I was 16 to 18, I worked at this sandwich shop. At some point my job became food prep. I used to slice meat and wrap it into small packages so it was easier to make individual sandwiches. They had a stereo in the back that I could play tapes on. It was a lot of hip-hop. I also used to draw my graffiti name on the big Saran wrap boxes.

I have always had this thing for music. I just tap into this sound and get lost.

"My musical influences are many, and they say it takes a village to raise a child. Well it took a whole genre and culture to raise me.

"They say success has many fathers, and that’s definitely true for me. So whatever my impact has been on hip-hop music, I never would have or could have done this s--t without some of the groundbreaking artists that I'm about to mention right now.

Happy Belated Anniversary to the Zotash Discord Server, first of all I would like to apologize. I should have posted this a while ago(life got in the way).

This was a collab project that I did with other fellow artists @konfuse and @reb-qal. The prompt was "The strawhats are on an island, Zoro gets lost like usual but he finds himself a nice bar. But to his surprise he also finds Tashigi working there. Tashigi has an undercover mission and is trying her best to prevent Zoro from Blowing her cover." Now the story of why we made it a barber instead of a bar is because when we were originally discussing this, someone thought they heard barber instead of a bar. So we just decided to run with that.

"Well, it seems inevitable."

"Maybe not."

Kento sent a look over to Satoru, except it wasn't anger or disdain. It was... concern. Satoru cocked an eyebrow.

"I really don't want you to get killed. Please stay safe and say the right words."

Satoru frowned. Kento was serious, but this was different. It made Satoru feel bad. He nodded and patted Kento's hand.

"Yeah, I will."

Satoru continued walking to the office that held the principal and entered the room. He sat down in the chair in front of the principal, staring at the ground.

"Satoru Gojo."

"Yes sir."

"Do you know why you're here"

Satoru was about to answer with a joke until he heard, "Stay safe and say the right words."

Satoru sighed, "The kid Kento and I are taking care of swallowed Sukuna's finger. I was irresponsible and wasn't paying attention when he did so. I apologize."

"Surprisingly mature of you, Satoru. Where is the child?"

"With Kento right now. He's still alive and doesn't seem like he was affected by the finger."

"Seems like it?"

"He did swallow it yesterday. We haven't seen anything odd or out of place happen. He's been his usual self."

The principal nodded and watched Satoru. His gaze was still cast down and he was avoiding eye contact. The principal had never seen him like this. He was nervous, and it showed. When he inspected closer, the principal saw that his infinity was around him. He could tell by the way he sat in the chair. He wasn't actually sitting on it, hovering above it, actually.

He was on alert.

"Okay... since this is the first time you've screwed something up and you're really diligent and a good sorcerer, I will punish you, but not as severely."

Satoru nodded. Not even a sex joke? This was kinda scaring him.

"You will be put on a week of house arrest and you must be with Yuuji all hours of the day and report if anything changes in him."

Gojo stood up and bowed, "Thank you, Yaga-san."

The young man walked out of the room after being dismissed. He walked down the hall to where Kento was.

"Oh thank god," Kento breathed, "Yaga-san had mercy."

"Yeah..."

"Hey. are you okay?"

Satoru looked up at Kento's face. He took off his glasses and set them on Yuuji's head. Yuuji was asleep on one of the benched, but Satoru was focused on Kento's eyes.

He had beautiful brown eyes that Satoru could get lost in. They were so dark one could mistake them for black, but he loved them...

"Satoru?"

The taller wasn't thinking when he leaned in and softly kissed Kento. He wasn't thinking when he pulled him closer so he could deepen the kiss.

Kento wasn't think when he wrapped his arms around Satoru's neck. He wasn't thinking when he let Satoru push him against the nearby wall.

They weren't thinking when they decided to make out against the wall.

A soft set of footsteps sounded down the hall before there was a soft, "Oh my fucking god."

The two young men pulled away and saw Suguru Geto standing there, a disgusted look stuck on his face.

"Don't you two have a place you live, kiss there! Ugh!" He sped down the hall, keep his eyes down.

When he walked away Satoru let out a surprised laugh. He began cackling and before long, Kento was right there with him. They held themselves on the wall as they laughed about what just happened.

"He's right, we should go back home..." Kento sighed, the first one to stop laughing.

Satoru nodded and picked up Yuuji, handing Kento his glasses. he was pretty sure that if he saw Kento's eyes again, he would be forced to make out with him again.

"Yeah... c'mon."

“Did that person just take a picture of us?” Franky turned around to search for the person but they had already vanished in the mass of people, walking towards the place where the festival was supposed to happen.

“Yes,” Robin didn’t even turn. Right now she took care to stay just beside Franky. They had already lost the rest of the crew in the crowd. She just hoped that neither Zoro or Luffy were alone. The rest would be fine. 

“Weird.” 

“They weren’t the first either.”

“Seriously? Why?” 

Robin shrugged lightly: “I can only guess…”

“And what is your guess? One guess of yours is most of the time more accurate than a long investigation.” 

The archeologist smiles at the compliment. 

“I don’t think they are the official Marine photographer. One normally does not see them. I also don’t think they are press, though that might still be possible. Actually I think they are just… fans.” 

“Fans? Wha…,”Franky frowned, trying to figure out what Robin meant. 

“Yes. Fans. We’re rather well known, after all.”

The crowd became more dense so Robin decided to hold onto Franky’s shirt, while he took care to keep her between his arms to shield her from everyone. She continued: ”Do you remember the article about you in Shipwright Monthly?”

“Yeah. Robin, I’m going to sit you on my shoulder, okay?”

There wasn’t really a way to continue with the flow but Franky was massive enough to continue, just not with Robin in front of him. 

“Okay,” she let herself lift up. It wasn’t like she didn’t love to sit on his shoulder after all. “And do you remember the portrait about you in ‘Robot & Cyborg Monthly’?”

“Of course!” the pride evident in his voice. 

“A lot of people know us and see us as famous pirates and experts in our respective fields. And if they see us as such paragons, of course they would want to have a picture of us.”

Franky continued his way, careful not to hurt anyone hearing the gasps and whispers when they recognized these two Strawhats. 

“All right, I think I understand. There have been at least 5 other people, taking pictures of us.” 

“I’m actually surprised they don’t ask for our signatures,” Robin was looking around seeing the center of the festival. Bright lanterns could be seen and food booths gave off delicious, sugary and fat smells.  

“Don’t evoke it,” Franky laughed, feeling Robin absentmindedly threading her fingers through his hair.

“The entry is over there. People getting in rather fast. I wonder if the rest is inside already,” Robin spied up. They would be inside in ten or less minutes.

“There is food, women, games, booze, sweets. Of course they are there. I wonder if people took pictures of the too…?”

“Probably.” 

Robin laughed and then bent over to give Franky a kiss on his lips. 

“H… hey? What is up with that? You’re normally not one for pda. And what if someone took a photo of that?”

Robin laughed again. 

“Well, who knows? Maybe then it was time for our little secret to become public.”

Franky sighed and continued to wait to get onto the festival place.

A few days later: 

“Dude! I have a picture of Franky and Robin kissing!” 

“Who are Franky and Robin? Friends of yours?” the boy just looked up from his comic and at his sister who just came out of her dark room, flipping through the freshly developed pictures. 

“Ha! Yeah I wish! No! The crewmembers from the Strawhat pirates!” 

She looked at her brother with big eyes, not believing what treasure she held in her hands. Slowly the coin dropped.

“DUDE!” 

“YEAH!” 

“KISSING?!” 

“YEEEAHHHH!!!” 

“SHIIIIIIT!!!” 

“WHAT DO I DO WITH IT?!” 

“SELL IT TO THE TABLOIDS!!” 

“WE’RE GOING TO BE RICH!!”

Another week later on Sunny: 

Nami rushed towards Robin, throwing the magazine on the table, beside the lounging chair, wildly gesturing towards it. 

Robin carefully put the book she was reading to the side and then examined the article on the open page.

“DEVIL CHILD AND CYBORG SEEING KISSING IN PUBLIC - ARE THEY AN ITEM?!”

“At the apple festival on Strudel-Island where not only the famous Strawhats spotted but two of the members were seen exchanging affections, while waiting to get inside. Are Franky the Cyborg and Devil Child Nico Robin actually dating?! 

Nico Robin is considered one of the most dangerous…” 

Robin smiled, hardly containing the laughter, while she looked up at Nami, who had her arms spread and was obviously angry. 

“ROBIN?! WHAT THE FUCK?! WE COULD HAVE SOLD THAT OURSELVES!!! DO YOU KNOW HOW MUCH MONEY WE LOST??”

Robin started to laugh.

Selkie seems to be the most popular beast unit at 21st UNLESS you count together Ranulf’s split votes, which would put him 33rd, between Ninian and Kliff! So I guess he wins this one? Honestly, rightfully so, he’s pretty important and likable AND good, he’d be a great choice for introducing beast units.

Eliwood crawled up 8 ranks to 26th. This pleases me.

Ninian also jumped from 100 to 32, shows how well Heroes worked out for her (unlike for some of the Awakening characters that were part of the starter/fodder units)

Fire Emblem Ask: Supportive, Vendetta, Aether, Veteran

oh I actually got one :o Thanks konfuse, you might be my biggest fan who’s not someone I already know x3 ;;

Supportive – Who did you S-rank and why?

Ahh… ;; hahh…. In Awakening, I went for Tiki, as friends/longtime followers of me might know ;; I have a thing for dragon ladies =3=;; And Tiki also has a really attractive voice. And I like how she’s developed between Shadow Dragon and Awakening.

In Fates, my go-to ladies were Camilla and Oboro. Oboro is just all around a sweet and likable character and a great unit besides, and I really like her design. Lots of ladies in Birthright had great designs and I love the facial variety among them. In Conquest, I really liked the Corrin x Azura supports and was THIS close to picking her, but in the end I wound up choosing Camilla for her… assets… >3> You know the ones~ (Dat hair… ooh mah… also she rides a wyvern? and does MAGIC?? that’s boss AF)

In my all-wyverns run of Conquest I had my femCorrin marry Camilla!Ignatius (so boy Kana would still have dat sweet purple hair) but kinda regretted it a little bit… Ignatius is a sweet boy, but it didn’t feel quite right for some reason. (I think my heart wanted Odin…)

Vendetta – Is there a boss/chapter that you hate to go through every time you play?

Oh man… Ch23 in Fates/Birthright and 25 in Fates/Conquest. The Camilla Sewers were responsible for causing me to lose interest in completing my run of Birthright (twice), not so much because they’re hard but because they’re weird and unpleasant. 25 in Conquest is notoriously unfun with its corridors of 3-range ninjas/pupets/etc and just ugh.

Arcadia in Binding Blade, however, probably has the honor of being the most hellish chapter I’ve ever played, and the reason I had no desire to attempt FE6 again after I lost my run of it hah. Screwwwww that level.

Aether- Favorite lord?

Ahhhh tough call, but I think it’s probably Lyn, hah. Conceptually, Corrin COULD have been my favorite; they’ve got so much going for them: a decent (if kinda color-bland) design, cool sword, TURNS INTO A FREAKIN’ DRAGON, and a cool-looking one at that?? But the writing just killed them for me. So for nostalgia’s sake, it’s my very first lord ~u~

Veteran �� Which FE games have you played and what was your favorite?

I’ve at least played all of the english releases except Shadow Dragon, though I haven’t beaten either of the Tellius games, to my eternal chagrin. (someday…) Also played a bit of Binding Blade as mentioned prior. While I think Radiant Dawn has my favorite story, Awakening has my favorite characters, and Conquest has some of the best gameplay, it’s probably still FE7 for the best combination of the above. It also has the difficulty that I’m most comfortable with, and the GBA games also have my favorite iteration of my favorite class, Shamans/Druids.
