Bc of tragediegh and leafykat's modern AUs I can't stop thinking about how much of a hot mess and how hilariously contradictory Fitz would be as a person in our world.
It's like. He'd simultaneously be filthy rich and incredibly poor. He'd be well-loved but mistreated and neglected and manipulated. He'd have owned 584948 dogs in his lifetime. He'd wear the same hoodie without washing it for 3 years straight. He'd heavily abuse the medicinal marijuana he gets for the seizures he barely has anymore. He's done like 58 different kinds of jobs. He uses all-in-one soap in the shower for his hair and entire body. He's writing a memoir but regularly burns the pages. He will wear the same shirt for 5 days straight. He has an estranged child and partner who his foster dad shacked up with. His only form of entertainment is reading organic gardening how-to's and hiking trail reviews. He's bi but represses it. He shows up to a high school reunion and people think he gatecrashed it because they don't recognise him. He has a criminal record. His bookcase is full of botanical illustration compendiums fastidiously organised by subject and alphabetical order. He's behind on all his bills but he won't ask anyone for money. He owns a shiny dark blue mercedes that his best friend bought him but he walks everywhere. He is unspeakably hot.

now say it with me: authors/artists dont owe you moral purity. an author/artist job is not to hold you by the hand & tell you exactly what is Good™ & what is Bad™. you should be able to think for yourself

idk thinking about how sometimes you have to show up for people you aren't that close to, because sometimes you're just the person who's there. sometimes you invite a new friend to a party and end up having to sit with them through a panic attack. sometimes you run into an acquaintance on their worst day and they need to talk about what happened. sometimes someone is crying in a stairwell and you're the only one around to ask if they're okay. and none of this is "trauma dumping" or whatever the fuck it's just being there for people because you're the one in the room with them.

I think the best thing I’ve ever done for my mind is literally just be like “idk man they’re just weird people” and move on w my life without psychoanalyzing…….. like I literally think I just rewired my brain w a single sentence

i feel so bad for nikola tesla like imagine spending years beefing with a guy who has conned the public into believing he's some sort of supergenius when in reality it's his overworked employees developing all of his world-changing inventions and you end up dying broke and starving and alone and then 100 years later another guy cons the public into believing he's some sort of supergenius when in reality it's his overworked employees developing all of his world-changing inventions and he's doing it all IN YOUR NAME. he must be rolling in his grave like a fucking rotisserie chicken
