The adrenaline should’ve been wearing off.

It probably was, it was probably something entirely different twisting at the pit of your stomach.

Unsub shut in the back of the police car, SWAT retreating back in their trucks, the team were gathered around the hood of the suburban for a debrief.

A debrief you should’ve been listening to.

It was no use, as if you could hear anything over the blood rushing in your ears.

Hotch had his usual stern expression as he spoke, but the more you tried to focus on what he was saying- the more your eyes kept drifting just over his left shoulder.

This was fucking obscene.

All he was doing, all he was doing, was listening to your boss (like you should’ve been). His sunglasses were pushed up his nose, he had a few perfect curls falling across his forehead, as usual.

The sleeves of his shirt were rolled to his elbows and the high sun was glinting off the large watch on his wrist. Your eyes followed his, frankly perfect, forearms up to his hands.

Veins running just below the surface leading you to long fingers, all wrapped around the thick shoulder straps of his bullet-proof vest. The one that was spanned across his chest and sitting up on his waist.

Spencer Reid looked insanely fuckable with the vest on.

You were lucky Hotch had split you up when you’d arrived on scene. If you’d had to watch Spencer running before you in that vest, you think you might’ve had to ask the unsub to kill you next.

The sight was nearly obscene.

You’d managed, just and only managed to support your team and get the job done- putting your own debauched thoughts away long enough to be serious for a second.

But as everyone was dispersing from the scene, under orders to meet back in the bullpen for paperwork, you had a feeling it wasn’t over for you yet.

That feeling came with Spencer calling your name, simply gesturing towards an empty suburban as he flashed the keys.

When nobody else joined you in the back of the car, you knew there was no way it’d ever be over. Especially not when he sat in the driver seat, vest still firmly secured around him.

Dropping yourself into the passenger seat, you resorted to pressing one very warm cheek to the window in attempt to find some relief.

There was none to be found, not when Spencer was reaching one long arm behind your seat to reverse out of the spot- Lord have mercy.

You’d both managed to get some ten minutes into the trip before he’d piped up, before he’d acknowledged the obvious change in your behaviour.

“What’s going on with you?”

His eyes flickered off the road for a moment, one hand on the wheel and the other resting on his thigh as he moved through the streets.

You shifted, uncomfortably shifted as you tried to play it off. “Nothing, I’m-“

“And I’m me, so don’t try lie.”

Rolling your eyes like a petulant child, you crossed your arms as you sunk further into the seat. It was easy done, you’d discarded your vest the minute you got in the car, unable to cope with the way it was suffocating you.

“Spencer, just leave it.”

It was his turn to roll his eyes, you couldn’t see it through his sunglasses but you could tell by the way his face rose and fell. He sucked in a deep breath before deciding someone needed to go first.

“You were too quick to get away from me as soon as we arrived and then spent the whole debrief staring at me like you either wanted me under you or dead- so what is it?”

That might’ve been the quickest anyone’s ever been profiled.

All part of the ordeal of being known, being so well known.

You shifted your gaze just enough to check if he was letting it go, sure enough, he was still switching between you and the road. It’s never over.

Absolutely you could tell him, you could just lay it all out and absolutely he’d be fine with it. But there was still such a sick knot in your stomach about having to fess up.

Weighing up your options (one of which included throwing open the car door) you saw movement out the corner of your eye.

Spencer’s free hand left his thigh and came to rest on the top of his vest, pulling it down slightly as he did it and drawing even more attention to the definition of his forearm.

“It’s the vest,” The words literally fell out of your mouth. “I want- need to fuck you with the vest on.”

You half expected him to crash the car. It would’ve made sense if he’d slammed on the breaks or even swerved a little. But he didn’t.

Spencer kept the car straight, eyes steadily moving to your face as he slowly raised an eyebrow.

“Yeah?”

Everything had gone quiet, like the world had stopped spinning. All you could hear was his simple question and maybe the odd voice in your head telling you this was a bad idea.

Thankfully, his voice was louder.

The moment his eyes went back on the road, his hand came off the vest to use his turn signal. He was pulling off down a trail road, industrial with an old factory at the base of it.

You knew it was abandoned, nobody had been there for years- it was on the map he’d annotated for the team at the beginning of this case.

Without a word, Spencer pulled up beside the building and the long grass. He put the car into park and removed his sunglasses before he ran a steady hand through his hair.

You’d been watching it all, slightly turned in your seat and studying his every move. There was no way you could help it. There was no way God could give you a man that looked like that and expect you to be normal about it.

All of a sudden, you saw Spencer reach beneath his seat. It rolled back slowly until he had a significant space between himself and the steering wheel.

Still, with no words exchanged, he brought his hand back to his thigh to pat it once- then twice. It was like a natural reaction for you, picking yourself up and scrambling across the centre console until you were situated in his lap.

Your fingers immediately closed around the straps of the vest, pulling him into you so your lips could meet with his. Spencer wasted no time in having his tongue in your mouth, immediately establishing his place.

It should’ve been embarrassing, pathetic really, the way your hips began to roll into his the minute he touched you. Large hands ran up your back, under your shirt and igniting your skin.

The vest was firm against your chest, almost keeping him from you but giving you exactly what you wanted. Pressing your forehead to his, you opened your eyes to get a good look at him under you.

He’d said you wanted one or the other.

You felt Spencer’s lips working up the front of your throat, teeth gently nipping at the skin as his hands worked down to the waistband of your pants.

You weren’t sure if he’d been as impatient as you- it was more likely you could give him a look any time of day and he’d be dropping to whatever position you needed him in. He was good that way.

As your hands splayed against the front of his vest, slowing inching down further as you continued to hump his lap- feeling him somehow getting even harder beneath you.

“Spencer-“ Your voice sounded breathy, desperate for him. “They’re gonna’ be back at the office soon.”

You heard him chuckle, the sound leaving his lips and reverberating off your throat. He nodded, just a little as his fingers began to work on the front of your pants.

He shuffled his hips forward, sinking down a bit further and giving you better access to his belt- the one you immediately began to undo.

“This is all for you, baby,” He sighed, feeling your hand reach into his pants. “You take whatever you need.”

"Perils of High Society"

Brooke and Mark were dating for a year now. They met when they were both still college students working at McDonald's and immediately came to like each other. Mark never liked to talk about his family, so Brooke never pushed him too much, until one day he confessed: Mark was actually Marcus Bancroft-Agnelli, the heir to large hotel empire, who decided to handle his own life during studies, not relying on his family fortune. When asked about why he doesn't want Brooke to meet his parents He explained: His family has an odd tradition: All women in the Bancroft-Agnelli family had their arms amputated when they hit puberty, to signify their status of perfect trophy wives: Their bare armless shoulders proudly displaying the fact they never have to resort to manual labour - and never will. "Pretty terrible, right?" said Mark "Actually, " said Brooke, "It's kinda hot, you know?" "A what?" "Can you imagine me without arms? I mean, wouldn't i look really elegant? Two months later, Mark and Brooke came to attend a party at one of Bancroft-Agnelli five star hotels. Brooke, still feeling a little clumsy, but proud of her armless shoulders, was overwhelmed by everything around her. Being born in rural area just outside the city, she wasn't used to being anywhere this fancy and nothing Mark told her could prepare her for the reality. Entering the hotel's ballroom, they were aproached by two women: One young, dressed in grey uniform with white gloves, the other about fifty years old, with aura of authority and perceived superiority, dressed in white and gold, the dress showing her perfectly smooth armless shoulders.

"Mom, this is my fiancée, Brooke Miller. Brooke, meet my mother, Beatrice Bancroft-Agnelli" "Pleased to meet you, dear. I see my son finally came to senses and found himself a woman befitting of a proper Bancroft-Agnelli man." said Beatrice to Mark's annoyed eyeroll. "Pleased to meet you, ma'am" said Brooke, twitching her right shoulder in an instinct to accompany the greeting with a handshake." Looking at Brooke's gesture with a mix of surprise and disgust, Beatrice replied: "Oh dear, but look at you, you hold your body like an arm person!" "Mom..." Hissed Mark. "And those scars! Oh my goodness, did a butcher do that to you? I could have refered you to our family surgeon in France, his handiwork is ex-qui-site, you know? He would never leave ugly scars like these behind." "MOM.." said Mark, now significantly louder. "And that make-up, dear oh dear... I would fire that maid who did that to you, such a shoddy job..." "Ahem... Actually," replied Brooke before Mark could interject again, "I did that myself - i mean, it's not perfect, but applying make-up with a foot is harder than i thought..." "You did what?" said Beatrice with overly dramatic expression, her eyebrows so high up they could pop out of her forehead any second. "Oh my lord, sweetheart, you aren't some common working class cripple or..." "MOM! That's enough! Come on, Brooke, we're leaving!" Yelled Mark to his mother's astonishment and put his arm around Brooke's shoulders in a protective gesture, guiding her swiftly away towards the elevator. "I'm sorry, did i say something wrong?" asked Brooke with surprised expression and hint of tears in her eyes. "Not you sweetheart." replied Mark, visibly angry, but keeping his voice down not to upset Brooke even more. "She did!"

Ch213 (p2), Recap, West Pier, and Colin Greville

We get a recap about what little is known about this resort hotel, now revealed to be called Nectar Springs.

Reasonably priced but service is so good that people decide to extend their stays or even move in. (Are they seen after that?) As I said before, in a spoiler post, the resort hotel is visually based off The Grand Brighton -- originally built in 1864 -- a highly expensive resort hotel in Brighton, where service is said to be "unparalleled".

Then a recap about Undertaker's reanimation of real Ciel and the other lords of the stars... or at least the fact they require a lot of blood. Also a reminder that their own purpose at the hotel is to discover whether it's a blood collection center, then destroy it, if it is.

Sebastian points out West Pier and explains some about the activities there. Apparently, you only see the sea from there during the winter. Is this a high tides thing? I'll have to look into this.

Then the demon goes on about how humans have such peculiar habits, like talking about nothing and putting themselves in situations that increase the likelihood of getting ill.

Our earl says that if they can see the pier, the resort hotel must be nearby.

It's time to talk about their aliases, and Sebastian explains his young master is Colin Greville, the 3rd son of Earl Warwick. Sebastian is to be his valet, James Blackwood.

Our earl gives Sebastian a mild compliment, since it would make sense for a sick child in a landlocked earldom to seek recuperation in a place like Brighton, by the seaside. Warwickshire is just about smack dab in the middle of England, sort of hugging the southeast outskirts of Birmingham. Unless our earl can pull off a more northern accent, he should pretend he's from southern Warwickshire... though I doubt Yana-san will bother with that detail.

You feel so uncomfortable and unwelcome in your own body; it’s a horrible feeling.

Yes, he’s still an octo-mer! At least it would be fun to picture him as one still. >:D I imagine he fucks you in that form and calls it a private lesson after you submitted that abysmally incorrect report on the octopus. Obviously you don’t know the octopus well enough, but you will when he has you at his mercy in the water and he’s all you see, feel, taste… I think it wouldn’t take very long for him to fuck you in that form. He probably invites you to come with him on his winter holiday and you have no choice but to agree, otherwise he’ll just threaten your status as a good, diligent student. He takes you all the way across the world to a very nice, very expensive beach resort. The scenery itself is a dream vacation, but the person you’re with turns it into a hellish nightmare. Professor Ashengrotto has an entire itinerary planned for the both of you, but between those slots of free time he’s fucking you in the hotel room, in the bathroom stall for a quickie before lunch, on the beach in some desolate area where no one will dare disturb the both of you. And, of course, he fucks you in the ocean in his mer form. <3 obviously you weren’t paying attention in his lecture on the octopus, so he’ll just have to teach you all over again. Not that he particularly minds. How could he ever be upset with his favorite student?

Madam red is a star lord theory. (Spoilers)

As those up to date with the manga should know, there are 4 star lords. Those being Polaris, Sirus, Vega, and Canopus. Two of which are already confirmed as R!Ciel(Sirus) And Doll(canopus). While there is speculation that Layla is lord vega I think she is either sharing this role or isnt a star lord at all. We've seen that vega's room is design to hold two people, while it logically makes sense to assume that this is her room due to the fact that she has split personalities and the fact that we've seen two voices come out of the room. I believe that might be a misdirect.

As we have seen in earlier chapters doll has said she can't sleep comfortably alone. So its not unlikely that she would share a room. This theory also overlaps with another theory that Polaris is Joker. Because Joker was also a butler whose master died, his identity is being hidden from us, and there is foreshadowing with Polaris's tears being in the same placement as Joker. All the star lords should also be people Undertaker reasonably could have gotten a hold of. So i think Polaris being the old Phantomhive butler is unlikely as most of the staff was killed and the manor was set on fire. Where Undertaker previously stated arrived when Vincent was just ash. So I doubt a butler would be fully intact. But he could have pulled Joker out before the fire completely got him.

So now that we got that out of the way lets get to why i think Madam Red is a Star lord who will be showing up at the hotel. First and most obviously, Madam red was worked on by Undertaker, is a doctor who could help him with his work, and has emotional connections to O!Ciel. Undertaker also mentioned her during the Luxury Liner arc when he was fighting Grell. But most of this theory relies on joker being Polaris to be true. This is because of this scene in chapter 95 where O!Ciel is surrounded by visions of peoples deaths who hold heavy on his soul. These people are his brother, Joker, Doll, Madam red, and his parents. If you are a fan of Yana, then you know she doesnt mess around with foreshadowing. We already know that of the people in this photo below that could be revived all have been near Undertaker and 2/4 are confirmed revived. 3/4 if you consider Polaris to be Joker. So logically Madam Red should be next.

On top of all this I believe she is going to show up at the hotel. This is because of each mission, Bards, Mey-rin. and Finny's. A shinigami and a bizarre doll have shown up in each. But all of these missions are happening at the same time and Polaris and R!Ciel are at the Manor in London. So Layla, Polaris, Doll, and R!Ciel the supposed 4 lords wouldn't be there. But this should be the closer of these missions so it should be the most intense. So what bizarre doll could show up that would make the biggest impact on O!Ciel and blend in with a high-class resort/hotel environment? Madam red. A shinigami also should be in this mission considering this trend, and if all my hunches are correct then the most impactful would be Grell. Grell most likely misses Madam Red as their relationship was that of sisters, and she most likely killed her in the heat of the moment rather than rationally thinking it through and seeing her alive would be a massive conflict to her responsibilities versus relationships.

Halloween Movie of the Day: Hotel Transylvania (2012)

Monsters. They lurk the night, and instill terror in the hearts of people. Or at least that's what is said: in practice they're hunted, feared and would just rather be left alone. Fortunately for them, there's just the right place for them to take a break without the interference of those pesky humans: the five star resort Hotel Transylvania. And lucky them; Count Dracula, the owner himself, is throwing a party to celebrate his daughter Mavis' 118 birthday! It's a monster mash of the best order!

What's that? That one is not a monster, but a young human backpacking through the region. And he's hitting on Mavis!

And… she likes him back? Hoo boy…

Directed by Gendy Tartakovsky of Dexter's Lab, Samurai Jack and Primal fame, this movie is absolutely bursting at the seams with manic energy on it's rapid fire comedy. Building on a LONG tradition of spoofs, references and parodies of these classic monsters, the humor doesn't really let go: EVERY monster here is reduced to a funny caricature of what initially made them scary, with Drac himself being more of an embarassing dad than the comanding lord of vampires. Which is fun(the animation being so expressive as expected from Tartakovsky), but it honestly sounds kind of… draining when put like that. Like a sugar rush of corny jokes and slapstick, which isn't enough to sustain a movie.

Until the emotional backbone of the movie hits, that is.

Wisely, this first entry knows to give enough dramatic depth to the story to carry it through. In spite of the more overt goofiness, Adam Sandler's take on Dracula is sympathetic and relatable in that his fears DO have a justification, being rooted in loss and grief. Likewise, the entire point of Mavis' struggle is a fairly universally relatable one that is only accentuated by her monstrous nature.

It's incredibly lighthearted, and has fun with its inspirations. But at times, that's just what the doctor ordered.

Seriously though, the animation of these movies is honestly one of the biggest highlights.

There's moments where it feels a little too much for my taste, sure, but the posing is just Tartakovsky throwing everything but the kitchen sink. With an unorthodox approach to 3D animation at the time, the man and his team just broke some of the rules of how the technique works to maximize the impact of every frame.

In 3D animation, you usally have 3D models upon which you put skeletal rigs so you can move their joints to a limited level. Moreover, the computer simluates the optical blur that comes with the motion of objects ina mathematically precise but rather flat way. Well, both things were nullified here: to maximize the visual clarity of fast movements, the motion blur was almost cut entirely so the shapes remained as legible as possible(which was a smart move and a must with some of the movements in this film being pretty much lighting fast, changing poses agressively from frame to frame).

And the skeletal rigs? Well, they tend to be limited in how much you can pose your character... so Tartakovsky pretty much made the animators outright DEFORM the models frame by frame in many animations to make them hit the mark he desired. He made this movie not in small part so he could get the fifth Season of Samurai Jack done, but he didn't half ass the job and what could've been a bog standard kids comedy was injected with a lot of energy because of this.

God, you've no idea how much I admire this man's work.

Not the ideal monster mash to end this collaboration, but what the heck. Next days will be more light hearted, Halloween stuff.

Ch204 (p2), Bodies and souls

The head matron drops that bomb from ch203 that Theo is to fledge next.

I'm a bit confused why they mention Nick, except that he would be the next candidate for real Ciel, if Theo wasn't there. I was worried for a moment there that they had already fledged Nick without us even knowing about it. However, they talk about Ginny in past tense and Nick in present tense, so he must still be there.

Gosh, this young Black lady here. I hope she turns against the orphanage, because I can tell she feels deeply that this is not acceptable. Partly, she is asking because she doesn't know everything that the head matron has already been told, or perhaps she has forgotten what she was already told. Either way, she still wonders why it has to be like this.

The head matron uses the same terms Blavat used at Sphere Music Hall: radiance, stars. However, "aptitude" has been added. She acts like it's these "stars" themselves who "possess technologies way more advanced" that theirs, as if they are from some advanced alien civilization.

It's odd for her to talk about not just their bodies but also specifically their souls. Someone has told her that their souls need to be as similar to the souls of the "stars", too, not just a match in their bodies. This reminds me of what was told (probably by Undertaker) to Chris Heathfield, and that the baron repeated to Jane.

So, I'm definitely not giving up my theory that Undertaker is experimenting with soul transplants, too, not just blood transfusions and organ transplants. To him, a soul is basically an organ, anyway, right? It could be that the best way for them to match their souls is by assessing their aptitudes. It's not just the blood typing, it's the combination of blood type and aptitude test results. And then reinforcing the similarities. She even has the nerve to call this a "clinical trial".

But Susan doesn't care too much about the details, as she hopes to use her high earnings to leave soon and open her own business, some sort of shop. I wonder where the money is coming from to keep paying such high wages, since we saw those money-donating renal patients die, but it could be coming from the hotel resort in Brighton....

Susan goes to the cold vault to get blood for Doll, and we see they have also been storing blood for the other lords of the stars. Though it's possible they don't currently have any for Sirius, which would help explain why a Pomeranian like Theo would be next.

Now this is interesting. "Things are taking longer this time"... compared to what? Last time Doll needed blood? Or something else about Doll's condition? What, exactly, is taking longer this time? 🤔

so i really want to talk about topaz and her feelings about the ipc and i feel like this is a topic that i will probably come back to again and again as my own portrayal develops and i flesh her out, but in short her feelings are incredibly complicated.

a lot of this is to do with the fact that topaz's circumstances have effectively brainwashed her from a very young age. we don't know how old she was when the ipc arrived on her home planet and "took over" but the implication is that topaz was young when she was contracted into indentured servitude along with the rest of the planet's inhabitants — young enough that her memories of her home planet are probably vague and a lot of her formative experiences would have been within the ipc itself. of course, topaz doesn't see it as indentured servitude and probably would be hard pressed to ever actually see it that way: the ipc's ecological reconstruction efforts on her home planet were a success, joining the ipc offered her an education and career opportunity and security ( the latter of which is a big deal for topaz and why she is such a believer in the amber lord and THEIR path of preservation. as she says to bronya in her letter, it's all about survival over freedom ), and a life debt to the ipc is absolutely outweighed by those benefits. where would she be had the ipc not arrived on her planet when they did? likely dead, honestly — and she was young enough at the time to not really question or consider any alternative and i think still, to this day, cannot conceive of any outcome for her life that would have proved better than what the ipc gave her.

whereas aventurine's relationship to the ipc is all about trying to navigate and make the most of the cage he is boxed into through being a stoneheart, for topaz it's arguably about not realising that she's in a cage in the first place, or at least not considering it as such.

but her feelings about the ipc are still way more nuanced than just "she is their number 1 defender" lmao. she had to keep her subordinates in line while on jarilo-vi, she also had to keep her subordinates in line while in the hotel lobby on penacony. she knows that the ipc has an unsavoury reputation and are commonly considered the "bad guys" by outsiders. and topaz straddles that line between good and bad very interestingly imo, particularly in the jarilo vi quest — she is kind, she is polite and pleasant, you can tell that she genuinely does care about seeing belobog survive and thrive in the same way that her home world did ( hence why aventurine calls it a high risk, low reward project ) and does not immediately enter into the situation all guns blazing. however, she also weaponises that empathy towards bronya and the others in belobog through her letter ( because while it was a genuine attempt to reach out and explain her motives, himeko points out that she leaves out some important details about the ipc's ecological reconstruction programme and you can't tell me that letter isn't the smallest bit manipulative, it is ). she is also fully prepared to use force to take over belobog if needed ( svarog put the calculation of her resorting to force at 96% and topaz said that was a conservative estimate ) and, if bronya hadn't intervened at the last second, she would have been a boss fight for the astral express crew just as aventurine was during penacony.

i do think belobog was a turning point for her, or at least an important realisation for her that she has learned more from jade and the more ruthless figures in the ipc than she would like to admit, and a chance for her to recalibrate exactly how she wishes to do better both by herself and her conscience, and by the ipc as an institution. but what i love about her is that everything is grey and you can't easily explain away her morality, hence why this will probably not be the last time i ramble about the topic lmao
