1 Samuel 5: The Philistines Brought The Ark Of God To Dagon's Temple
1 After the Philistines had captured the ark of God, they took it from Ebenezer to Ashdod.
2 Then they carried the ark into Dagon’s temple and set it beside Dagon.
3 When the people of Ashdod rose early the next day, there was Dagon, fallen on his face on the ground before the ark of the Lord! They took Dagon and put him back in his place.
4 But the following morning when they rose, there was Dagon, fallen on his face on the ground before the ark of the Lord! His head and hands had been broken off and were lying on the threshold; only his body remained.
5 That is why to this day neither the priests of Dagon nor any others who enter Dagon’s temple at Ashdod step on the threshold.
6 The Lord’s hand was heavy on the people of Ashdod and its vicinity; he brought devastation on them and afflicted them with tumors.
7 When the people of Ashdod saw what was happening, they said, “The ark of the god of Israel must not stay here with us, because his hand is heavy on us and on Dagon our god.”
8 So they called together all the rulers of the Philistines and asked them, “What shall we do with the ark of the god of Israel?”
They answered, “Have the ark of the god of Israel moved to Gath.” So they moved the ark of the God of Israel.
9 But after they had moved it, the Lord’s hand was against that city, throwing it into a great panic. He afflicted the people of the city, both young and old, with an outbreak of tumors.
10 So they sent the ark of God to Ekron.
As the ark of God was entering Ekron, the people of Ekron cried out, “They have brought the ark of the god of Israel around to us to kill us and our people.”
11 So they called together all the rulers of the Philistines and said, “Send the ark of the god of Israel away; let it go back to its own place, or it will kill us and our people.” For death had filled the city with panic; God’s hand was very heavy on it.
12 Those who did not die were afflicted with tumors, and the outcry of the city went up to heaven.

Do you have any high fantasy book recs? I have enjoyed asoiaf and would like to explore more of the genre
Sure, you can see a lot in my book recs tag, with plenty of details, but here's a quick list of my favorite high fantasy series:
The Lord of the Rings, by J.R.R. Tolkien (yes, everyone knows this one, but you might be a complete newbie to fantasy, so hey)
The Discworld series, by Terry Pratchett (ditto; also note I detest those reading order guides you may see around, I read the books as they were published (almost) and I was better than fine ok)
The World of the Five Gods, by Lois McMaster Bujold (I recommend again going with publishing order for the novels, then moving on to the Penric novellas, either publishing or chronological. I also rec her Sharing Knife series, though it's not a top favorite, her Spirit Ring novel is sweet and should appeal to YA fantasy fans, and I highly rec her Vorkosigan Saga to ASOIAF fans, though it's SF.)
The Chronicles of Amber, by Roger Zelazny (love this series so much, always rec it to fans of ASOIAF, and like GRRM I agree it desperately needs a tv adaptation)
The Chronicles of Prydain, by Lloyd Alexander (utter classic, very badly served by the Disney adaptation, needs a much better one)
The Chronicles of Narnia, by C.S. Lewis (another classic, and lol publishers really like "chronicles" don't they)
Pelmen the Powershaper series, by Robert Don Hughes (out of print for a long time sadly, but you may be able to find cheap used books)
and there's so much more, in low fantasy and other sub-genres (Naomi Novik's various series and novels are big loves of mine, and I adore Ben Aaronovitch's Rivers of London series), check my tag!

Hatchetfield headcanons?
Let’s see…
Holloway has lots of scars from living for centuries and hides them with the jacket. These include:
Lightning scars
Wiggly: sucker/tentacle marks
Pokey: cracks
Blinky: eye like circular pattern. Red vein squiggles at end.
Tinky: hoof print
Nibbly: bite marks
Her accent gets stronger when she’s mad. Same for Duke, but you rarely hear it.
Original name was Holly-May Logan.
The strange carving it’s mentioned she has in Killer Track, is a part of Pokey’s mask.
Ryan Reynolds is the person running against Solomon for mayor. He’s pushing the problematic pooch story because it shows how horrible the town has gotten under Solomon’s rule. You’d think the disappearance of his wife right before he got elected would be a bigger deal, but no, time for our daily Peanuts the Hatchetfield Pocket Squirrel segment!
The Obnoxious Teen is actually different versions of Pete after an encounter with the Bastard Box. He now lives in a never ending hell of minimum wage jobs.
Grace’s birthday is September 9th, buy a priest a beer day.
The Honey Queen sacrifice takes place on the summer solstice at midnight.
Description of the tree that grew from Willabella: Gnarled roots extend from a bulbous center. No leaves hang from its crown of branches. It is not natural. Nothing grows near it, except the apples that grow for its branches, never ripe and always rotten. A hollow in the center is swarming with spiders whose web spans across it. Several scars are evident from where the Hatchetmen, once they realized their mistake, tried to cut it down. From its branches hand charms of protection and containment that replace old ones of worship. It grows behind the old Waylon Hall, over the sight of Willabella’s execution. Like the Hall, many rumors swirl around it and foolish children often dare each other to touch the bark.
The Blade of Truth that MacNamara uses on the Sniggles is one of multiple PEIP has constructed. With help from Holloway, they were able to harness the White’s energy into physical form. Each Blade requires a secret to be whispered into it as it forms, one no one has ever heard before. If someone tells a lie while holding the Blade, it shatters.
The Foster family are descended from Willabella and a Hatchetman with the last name Forester. Willabella had no love for him and only got pregnant to delay her execution.
The Stockworth family vacations in Hatchetfield because they have connections with the Church of the Starry children. Lucy is not aware if this.
Charles Coven was part of PEIP and went by Carlo at the time.
PEIP has ID numbers based on the Stith Thompson’s Motif Index of Folk-Literature. Basically a collection of a bunch of different motifs in folklore.
Wilbur: D1310.10.1. Magic apple gives supernatural knowledge.
Holloway (Holliway this identity): G220.0.1. "Black" and "white" witches. Malevolent and benevolent.
John: B147.2.1.2. Eagle as omen of victory.
Xander: J1291.2. Theological questions answered by propounding simple questions in science.
Douglas Keane Sr. was an informant for PEIP. Basically, PEIP goes around to various people in professions where the supernatural may be encountered (law enforcement, medical, park rangers etc.) and gives them a little presentation with very vague language about if they seen anything unnatural, or out if the ordinary, to give their office a call. Since Hatchetfield is such a hotspot, Douglas knows a lot more about the supernatural than most informants do and is on first name basis with several PEIP agents. (This is heavily based off a book called The Rook by Daniel O’Malley.)

Countdown to Agatha: Day 788
Y/N: “Do you ever forget that you’re in the 21st century and unconsciously sink back to the past?”
Agatha: “No, why do you ask?”
Wanda: “Because you eat like a feudal lord.”
Agatha: *looks at her meal of buttered bread, corned beef, and figs with potato hash* “I have no idea what you’re talking about*

1 Samuel 4: The Lord's Message He Gave Samuel To Eli Comes True
1 And Samuel’s word came to all Israel.
The Philistines Capture the Ark
Now the Israelites went out to fight against the Philistines. The Israelites camped at Ebenezer, and the Philistines at Aphek.
2 The Philistines deployed their forces to meet Israel, and as the battle spread, Israel was defeated by the Philistines, who killed about four thousand of them on the battlefield.
3 When the soldiers returned to camp, the elders of Israel asked, “Why did the Lord bring defeat on us today before the Philistines? Let us bring the ark of the Lord’s covenant from Shiloh, so that he may go with us and save us from the hand of our enemies.”
4 So the people sent men to Shiloh, and they brought back the ark of the covenant of the Lord Almighty, who is enthroned between the cherubim. And Eli’s two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, were there with the ark of the covenant of God.
5 When the ark of the Lord’s covenant came into the camp, all Israel raised such a great shout that the ground shook.
6 Hearing the uproar, the Philistines asked, “What’s all this shouting in the Hebrew camp?”
When they learned that the ark of the Lord had come into the camp,
7 the Philistines were afraid. “A god has come into the camp,” they said. “Oh no! Nothing like this has happened before.
8 We’re doomed! Who will deliver us from the hand of these mighty gods? They are the gods who struck the Egyptians with all kinds of plagues in the wilderness.
9 Be strong, Philistines! Be men, or you will be subject to the Hebrews, as they have been to you. Be men, and fight!”
10 So the Philistines fought, and the Israelites were defeated and every man fled to his tent. The slaughter was very great; Israel lost thirty thousand foot soldiers.
11 The ark of God was captured, and Eli’s two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, died.
Death of Eli
12 That same day a Benjamite ran from the battle line and went to Shiloh with his clothes torn and dust on his head.
13 When he arrived, there was Eli sitting on his chair by the side of the road, watching, because his heart feared for the ark of God. When the man entered the town and told what had happened, the whole town sent up a cry.
14 Eli heard the outcry and asked, “What is the meaning of this uproar?”
The man hurried over to Eli,
15 who was ninety-eight years old and whose eyes had failed so that he could not see.
16 He told Eli, “I have just come from the battle line; I fled from it this very day.”
Eli asked, “What happened, my son?”
17 The man who brought the news replied, “Israel fled before the Philistines, and the army has suffered heavy losses. Also your two sons, Hophni and Phinehas, are dead, and the ark of God has been captured.”
18 When he mentioned the ark of God, Eli fell backward off his chair by the side of the gate. His neck was broken and he died, for he was an old man, and he was heavy. He had led Israel forty years.
19 His daughter-in-law, the wife of Phinehas, was pregnant and near the time of delivery. When she heard the news that the ark of God had been captured and that her father-in-law and her husband were dead, she went into labor and gave birth, but was overcome by her labor pains.
20 As she was dying, the women attending her said, “Don’t despair; you have given birth to a son.” But she did not respond or pay any attention.
21 She named the boy Ichabod, saying, “The Glory has departed from Israel”—because of the capture of the ark of God and the deaths of her father-in-law and her husband.
22 She said, “The Glory has departed from Israel, for the ark of God has been captured.”

big questions i hope are one day answered in hatchetfield:
what deal did solomon make, what does it entail? what did he have to give up? how much does he know about the lords in black stuff?
what’s charles coven’s deal? how much does he work with the libs? did he make a deal? it doesn’t feel like he’s really lost anything, he seems very well off. (i just want to know more bc i love how james plays him and would love to see him more)
what exactly caused the timeline to split? did it have to do with the black and white portal being opened? did hannah herself subconsciously do it? did lex have something to do with it, since she saved hannah when she was born with her teleporting powers?
what’s webby’s deal? was she always a queen in white? what caused the split between her and her brothers? was it that she finally saw the value in humanity or something else? why doesn’t holloway trust her?
obviously, why did holloway make her deal and what does it entail? we know it has something to do with her band, but what happened to them? how did her beef with wilbur start? do the libs pit them against each other? why must they fight?
why did becky climb that tree? why’d she stay up there? (i can’t wait for this nmt ep)
what were the waylons and also the cult getting up to back in their day? (i would love more insight on what evil shit they were doing)
how many children have a touch of the gift? are we ever going to see them again?
what is up with bryce’s character in working boys? what has cassandra king seen? why are there lights in the sky giving you prophecies? is that webby or one of the libs? (this comes from her blurb in the working boys playbill) her whole deal could be a solid nmt episode
how does this all end? can it even end?
i feel like some of these have to be answered with the nmt 3 eps, the possible miss holloway musical, and the possible movie surrounding the theater characters, but who really knows. there are so many interesting things to poke at and i just want to learn all i can

Something about the machine was magnetic, drawing all their focus towards it like a black hole capturing light. It wasn’t much more interesting than the other games in the arcade – in fact the design was fairly simple – but it was attention-grabbing, enticing. The overwhelming lights and sounds of the arcade seemed to fade away, muffled like they were underwater. But Ziria stayed bright and loud as before, becoming by contrast the only interesting thing in this arcade.
“That game’s new,” Ruth stated.
⌁₊˚⊹ ⊹˚₊⌁
When Pizza Pete's gets a new arcade game, Ruth, Richie, and Pete make it their mission to beat it. However, something about the new game isn't quite right, and teens in town become obsessed with playing it.
