dumbassrights replied to your post “After the election fraud that happened in Bolivia was uncovered and...”
hey! are you bolivian? can you explain bolivians situation right now? everything i see is outsiders opinions and i know that i can't really trust that. if you can't, thats fine, thank you!
Hello! Yes I am Bolivian, though I currently live in a different South American country, but I’ve been keeping in touch with my family with WhatsApp and I try to keep up with the basic news from back home, so I think I can explain the basics.
The basic start is with Evo Morales, a cocalero (coca leaf grower) who became a politician and came to power as president in 2006. He’s the first indigenous president of Bolivia (he is Aymara), and when he came to power was widely seen as a game changer, destroying the oligarchical, upper white class hold on Bolivian politics. He was received with much fanfare, including from white leftists, who were keen on a president who would enact social reform and change and concentrate on helping reduce poverty and racism. I was too young to vote back then, but the majority of my family voted for Evo. He was... he was hope. It’s hard to explain. We thought it was the turning point. Finally, an indigenous president, someone who knew discrimination first hand and would be able to listen to the many indigenous peoples of our country. Someone who would fight imperialism, and the scars of colonialism.
He managed to do some good things. If I remember correctly, education spending and welfare spending increased, he increased the taxes on many companies, such as hydrocarbons, allowing the state to invest more and have less of a deficit. Bolivia also received an economic boom unrelated to his actions and policies (it had more to do with the price of minerals, since Bolivia is a mining country, and so on and so forth), so for a while poverty did reduce and the middle class grew. He also increased the number of indigenous and campesino (farmer/rural lands) representatives and their influence in politics.
However, as time went on, Evo’s party began to systematically remove any opposition they could, with many political leaders jailed for charges of tax evasion and the like. There is a lot of shady stuff going around that topic, and it’s too much to get into in a short explanation. It turned out that the party sought to remove any rising leadership, even within their party, that could threaten Evo’s dominance. His party also began to stack the legislative branch and pushing new judges through, setting up people who’d be grateful to him and thus legislate in his favor. While this was happening, MAS, the party’s social base, expanded their power and influence in other ways.
Now, the actual constitutional fuckery that angered a lot of leftists. He had the constitution rewritten in 2008 and it was approved in 2009, which had really mixed opinions from people, though I personally liked that he changed the name of “Republic of Bolivia” to “Plurinational State of Bolivia” to recognize the indigenous nations of Bolivia. The constitution maintained its two term limit for the presidency, but the thing was, he claimed that since there was a new constitution, his first mandate/government no longer counted, and he got it approved legally that he could run two more times again, which he did. Which like. What the fuck?
In the process, we began seeing cracks in his pro-indigenous, pro-environmental discourse. For example, he ignored and overulled the indigenous peoples of TIPNIS, a national park and indigenous territory, when they legally stated that they did not want a highway built through their lands, because it would bring in deforestation and cocaleros who are known for deforestation. He basically steamrollered over this, despite indigenous peoples of the TIPNIS walking all the way to the city of La Paz to make protests. He began to approve infrastructure projects that would destroy natural spaces, including hydroelectric dams that can and will flood Madidi, one of the most important national parks and biodeverse areas of Bolivia. And so on and so forth, he began to act in such a way that was at odds with the platform he ran, betraying indigenous peoples and Pachamama (mother earth) at every turn. He also never took any reasonable criticism in stride, blaming it all on American Imperialism.
However, because of MAS’ stronghold and no unity among the opposition, Evo ran two more terms after his first (including the third which really shouldn’t have been legally recognized), and he stated that after his third he wouldn’t stay in power.
If you guessed that he changed his mind or was lying, you’re right.
He called for a national referendum in 2016 for whether he should be allowed to run for a fourth term, but he lost the referendum, which voted “No”, though it was a narrow margin. And instead of respecting the will of the Bolivian people, he ignored it and pushed himself forward as a candidate for the next (these) elections, to the point that he pushed so that the Supreme Tribunal of Justice would rule that the constitution was inconstitutional (wtf) because it did not respect his right to reelection (wtf) and decided that no public office would have a term limit. I hope I don’t have to explain why that is just. A horrible decision for democracy. Term limits exist for a reason. It’s so no one person can get a stranglehold on power. After this it became clear to us that he had become enamoured with power, and was mainly seeking to establish himself in power indefinitely, which well, it pissed a lot of us off. It was heartbreaking too. To see someone we’d pinned our hopes on becoming... a dictator.
This finally brings us to three weeks ago, when the general elections were held. Now, in Bolivia, we have it so that any winner of the presidential elections has to have at least 10% points more than the guy in second place, or we go into a second round of elections between the higher scoring candidates. And as the official electoral authority reported throughout most of the counting process as results came in, Evo didn’t have the 10% lead needed to avoid a second round, and statistically even if the remaining votes were majority Evo, he wouldn’t be able to get the 10% needed. Also, the remaining votes were City votes, and the cities are in general, not Evo supporters anymore. Until at around 80% of all votes counted, the website and reporting of the electoral authority just. Stopped. It cut off. It cut off for 24 hours, during which the government first claimed that oh, it’d had some technical difficulties, and then (this part I actually don’t understand, so I’m paraphrasing what I maybe undersood) claimed that because some voting places had finished counting already, so they wouldn’t have two places reporting results, they stopped the main authority. Which like.
That’s really fucking fishy.
So people were really suspicious, and when the authority began reporting again those 24 hours later, reporting that oh, actually, Evo had won with the required 10%, a lot of people didn’t believe it. This smelled like electoral fraud. So people began gathering to protest because Evo shouldn’t have been running in the first place and now he wanted us to take this lie and swallow it.
Evidence came out over the next few days about electoral fraud: non-Evo vote ballots were found in trash bins, and the official databases of the electoral authority were found to have “irregularities” that all favoured Evo. People got pissed even as Evo claimed that it was imperialist forces and that the counts were all valid and legit and transparent. But the damage was done. Bolivians took to the streets in big numbers to protest and froze the cities, stopping transport and literally putting the cities in a standstill, only letting emergency services and food trucks coming to the supermarkets through so people could live. The protesters in the cities began to get threats, because Evo began trying to sell these protests as “the racist cities trying to stamp the rural vote”, from Evo supporters, that they’d shut the water supplies to the city off. Counter protesters began massing too. Clashes happened. Evo supporters were pushed out of the city of Cochabamba, but they set fire to the grasses around a city landmark and place of pride because they wanted to give a last fuck you. MAS supporters attacked hospitals that had protesters and even the doctors and nurses who weren’t supporting MAS. Photo and video evidence, and people coming forward, showed that the government was paying people to counter protest. The protesters were mostly non-violent, but there were clashes when the police wasn’t able to keep people separated. One mayor near Cochabamba was found to have paid two thugs to beat up protesters, to the point that one young man of 18ish was thought to be dead, and her hair was cut off and she was sprayed red - supposedly by protesters, but now there are cliams of people from her town that it was her own people that did it to make the protesters look bad. (My opinion? It could be either at this point, I don’t know). The protesters wore the Bolivian flag and called for democracy to be respected. The Evo supporters primarily wore the party flag, and got their hands on dynamite that they set off on streets to intimidate protesters. Protesters have died at the hands of Evo supporters - I haven’t heard of one case of dead Evo supporters. The police started to get unhappy, because they didn’t want to throw tear gas at the people protesting. To try and sweeten them, the goverment paid a bonus... but it turned out the bonus money was taken from the police officer’s pension. Police departments began to ... not sure if mutiny is the right word, but to defy the government, in several cities.
At first, people were pushing for a second round of elections, but when we realized that actually, legally, when there is fraud of a significant impact the elections have to be annuled and new ones held, and the people who did the fraud jailed, the movements began to call for new elections completely, with a new electoral authority that could be trusted.
In the meantime, the military was quiet and not sent out to repress anything even after the police began to rebel, with military subordinates presenting letters that they would not repress the people, while it was known that military high command is pro Evo.
While this was going on, the OEA, The Organization of American States, had issued from the start of the 24 hour blackout from the electoral authority that they had concerns about the election process. Evo ended up accepting an audit from OEA representatives, and said that he’d stand by their resolution. When they finally came out with a report saying there were serious irregularities in the election that cast it into doubt, he called it politically motivated, but did call for new elections...
Then the high commander of the military said Evo should resign so that the country can be peaceful again. And a few hours ago Evo presented his resignation to the presidency.
It’s not over by a long shot - we need to establish a transparent, trustworthy electoral process in record time and hold new elections, and people are afraid that Evo will take back his resignation, and Evo incited his supporters in his resignation speech - but we’ve managed to get this far after three weeks of non spot protests.
There’s a lot more going on, a lot of context I’ve skipped, on Evo, on the political opposition - including Camacho, a religious right wing religionalism whose gotten a worrying amount of support with the protests in reaction to Evo’s excesses - but so far, I am proud of Bolivia. We’ve not let a wanna-be dictator establish himself. Now we just need a good left wing leader to help build us up to the promise that Evo gave us, and to stand strong against right wing pendulum reactionaries.
I leave you with the protest chants that spread in Bolivia these past three weeks
Quien se cansa? Who gets tired? NADIES SE CANSA! NOBODY GETS TIRED! Quien se rinde? Who gives up? NADIES SE RINDE! NOBODY GIVES UP! Evo de nuevo? Evo again? HUEVO CARAJO! [Pun involving the word egg, which sounds like Evo, and a swear word that doesn’t have a translation]

crime and disorder
Previously on Impeaching the Motherfucker: Donald “Individual-1” Trump tried to use the Oval Office to shake down Ukrainian President Zelensky for a public announcement of bullshit investigations, which Trump wanted to use to discredit American citizens and intelligence agencies.
You may have seen people compare Trump’s scheme to have the Ukrainian president announce investigations into his Democratic opposition to James Comey’s various interventions in the 2016 election. This comparison is not wrong. If anything, it understates the similarities.
The story that former NYC mayor Rudy Giuliani tried to feed Zelensky about a member of Joe Biden’s family was basically fascist fanfiction by a guy named Peter Schweitzer. Schweitzer worked for Steve Bannon, who led the Trump campaign for a while, at the racist agitprop website Breitbart. His books are funded by the Mercer family. (If you’re struggling to place that name, they also finance the Facebook data thieves at Cambridge Analytica.) As Schweitzer’s lies were being used to pressure Zelensky to abuse law enforcement, they were also being fed to the mortifyingly credulous New York Times. The NYT validated the smear, which gave Giuliani and his crew leverage to increase pressure on law enforcement to take action in the hopes that this would create more news.
These exact same people pulled these exact same moves in 2015 and 2016. Of course, that time the Democratic frontrunner was Hillary Clinton, and Schweitzer’s lies were about the Clinton Foundation.* Those lies were debunked as quickly and easily as the stories about Biden, but they were still validated and spread by the mainstream media, in particular by the New York Times. These stories were picked up by the various disinformation trollbot networks throughout the 2016 election and used to drown out the serious stories about Donald Trump’s many financial crimes. And it gave a partisan faction in the FBI an excuse to open an investigation into Clinton.
Giuliani, by his own admission, was also the Trump campaign’s connection to the FBI’s New York field office in 2016. Now he’s telling the press, on the record, that his scheming in Ukraine is an attempt to manipulate the Department of Justice into investigating Biden.
It’s important to remember what happened from there. Short-term, we need to prepare ourselves to keep it from being so effective next time. The impeachment hearings might have discredited this particular line of attack against Biden, but something like this will happen to whoever the Democratic nominee ends up being. Long-term, progressives need to start holding grudges the way conservatives do, not least because our grievances are real. And we have to do this for ourselves because, let’s be honest, most of the mainstream and nearly all of the “leftist” media would rather be rounded up at gunpoint and sent to a gulag than admit they fucked up in 2016.
We remember the EMAILS investigation because it was so public, but in fact, the FBI was also investigating the Clinton Foundation, despite the Department of Justice telling them there was no case, specifically because their “evidence” was just trash from Schweitzer’s book.+
An FBI investigation is a serious thing, even if the director doesn’t use it as a pretext to throw a presidential election. That’s why the FBI is supposed to take it seriously. They’re only supposed to open an investigation if they have an an actual reason. (To state the obvious, debunked conspiracy theories by a political propagandist are not an actual reason.) Then they’re supposed to shut the fuck up and actually investigate, not preen for the media about how great they are for doing all this manly investigating. This is both to protect the reputation of the person they’re investigating and because you can usually investigate something better if you minimize how many people know you’re investigating. When they’re done, they’re supposed to either charge someone with a crime or to close the case and leave the person alone.
The FBI clearly did not take the Clinton Foundation investigation seriously, because if they had been taking it seriously they never would have pretended there was a case there at all, but it was still a serious thing. The existence of this “investigation” bolstered these false propaganda narratives which were intended to distort a presidential election, and which publicly disparaged a world-class charity that has saved millions of lives around the world.
Worse, the bullshit metastasized within the FBI. It ate into the time and attention of senior leadership, when they needed to be making some genuinely complicated decisions concerning the national security threat posed by the criminal syndicate known as the Trump campaign. Instead, they were finding out what happens if you give a mouse a cookie. The faction of the FBI who were abusing their power to hurt Clinton and help Trump seem to have been emboldened by the indulgence. FBI leadership fell into the bad habit of feeding the press, especially right-wing media like the Wall Street Journal and Fox News, hints that something crime-y was going on with the Clinton Foundation. A week before the election, after Comey had upended the election with his letter about the emails, “sources” at the FBI were telling a Fox News anchor that there were about to be indictments over something at the Clinton Foundation.
Reading between the lines of various reports, it looks like these pressures within the FBI to support the Clinton Cash propaganda helped desensitize Comey and his bros to the idea of taking dramatic public action against Hillary Clinton. It never occurred to anyone else that they would pull a stunt like this, not because everyone trusts the FBI so much, but because it is so far from what they do. Nobody expects the feds to start wearing mashed potatoes to the office instead of suits, either, not because they have such great fashion sense, but because it’s too bizarre to occur to anyone. But if there were a handful of agents crabbing every day that they should wear mashed potatoes to work, and those agents kept forwarding around a drumbeat of media speculating that maybe they would start wearing mashed potatoes to work, maybe they start to think it’s not too weird of a compromise if they just start wearing mashed potatoes instead of jackets and ties.
Law enforcement abusing its power to influence elections is bad for democracy. But it’s also bad for law enforcement. As long as everyone understands the FBI shouldn’t be expected to get involved in partisan politics, there’s no incentive for politicians to waste time trying to pressure them. But once they caved to this pressure from right-wing media, it showed that they could be manipulated by at least one side, and the Republicans have been hammering them relentlessly ever since. Trump doesn’t beat up on the FBI – or, for that matter, the NYT – because he’s afraid of them. He beats up on them because he knows, from experience, that it works.
Since all that happened, Trump’s had time to purge his dupes from FBI leadership and replace them with people he believes will be even more likely to follow his unethical directives. So that’s not great.
One major difference in Giuliani and Schweitzer’s scheme this year is that they’re trying to outsource their dirty work to Ukraine, which is a lot riskier and a lot more work. In a weird way, this is a slightly encouraging sign for 2020. Even if the real motivation is that Trump is fucking around with Ukraine to please Putin and smearing Biden is just a side benefit, I doubt it would be happening like this, because you don’t actually need to bring your clown sidekick and his clown sidekicks into your clear-cut impeachable offenses. It’s entirely possible that they’re going global because they don’t think the FBI will throw all the rules out the window to help them this time.
On the other hand, the fact that they’re changing the pattern means it could easily get even worse. Right-wing ratfuckers have already attacked at least two 2020 Democratic presidential candidates with false claims of sexual violence. At this point, it’s still the JV squad,± but once we have a nominee, the professionals are going to get involved. It wouldn’t even take Giuliani’s subtlety and finesse to get law enforcement involved, either, just one pro-Trump sheriff’s office in an area the nominee could have conceivably visited. I don’t have a concrete idea of what to do if things take this particular turn, but I’m legitimately worried that we need to brace ourselves for it.
*Substantively, this comparison is unfair, because Burisma is an oil and gas company with a mixed ethical record, while the Clinton Foundation is a clean, transparent charity that has saved millions of lives. The fact that Schweitzer and the New York Times describe them nearly interchangeably says it all.
+The existence of not one but two flimsy investigations into Clinton actually discredits both of them even further, because it shows a pattern of the FBI investigating a person rather than a crime.
±It’s easy to treat the Warren thing as a joke because this particular ratfucker faceplanted so badly, but the lie itself wasn’t funny. Escalating consensual BDSM into a vicious, traumatic beating isn’t some wacky cartoon trope, it’s a type of abuse that real people have experienced.

Your post on Bernie has me a little confused. Do you consider yourself a strict democrat, leftist, socialist or anything else? To me at least, it seems odd that you dislike Bernie for not being an “actual democrate” when Clinton is pretty right wing.
So I dislike boxes. They’re restrictive. I vote for who I like in terms of policy and who I think will perform best once in office. I’m a democrat, sure. I have leftist ideals but a realistic/pragmatic approach to things. I understand that we all wish to burn things down but that’s not how things work sadly. So let’s be realistic about getting shit done. Guillotine memes don’t feed the starving and they don’t end white supremacy. I’m a uh, let’s call it a north american socialist (no one running is an actual, by the books, definition of socialist, but that’s neither here nor there).
Since people on this site apparently need to dissect my political beliefs, here you go:
I believe we should have free healthcare; I believe that university education should be heavily subsidized (free would be great, but let’s start with at least making it subsidized and work from there); I think we should have universal basic income; I believe we should spend more on public infrastructure because our roads and bridges are falling apart; I believe we should have accessible, reliable public transit and an improved public transit network that works at municipal, state and national levels; I believe election days should be national holidays so everyone can vote; I believe gerrymandering is a curse upon our democratic system; I believe that we should spend more on public education at a K-12 level; I believe in subsidized and/or free after school care especially for the economically struggling; I believe we should have stronger anti-hate crime laws; I believe dental and mental health care should be covered anytime we talk about health care coverage; I believe in reparations; I believe we should start our own Truth and Reconciliation process for both slavery and the genocide against the Native Americans; I believe that we should try and address class and wealth disparity but that won’t solve racism, sexism, homophobia etc.; I believe we need electoral reform; I believe we need to do more for climate change but that the Green New Deal is empty in terms of actual things to implement in terms of policy - anyway those who wrote it admitted it was more of an economic plan than a climate one; I believe we need to tax the wealthy including all those pesky millionaires with three houses and wives who were investigated for tax fraud as well as the billionaires —
I can go on.
Of those running I currently like Castro, Harris, Warren. I really wish Stacy Abrams was running but she’s not. I think she’d be the best. I’m not a fan of Biden, Sanders, Gabbard (I mean, can we really call her a democrat?), Steyer, Yang. I’m neutral on Mayor Pete, Klobuchar, and Booker. I don’t know if that clarifies anything for you. Also, this is liable to change as we move forward through the primaries.
And Clinton isn’t right wing. Calling her that continues the lie that she and the GOP are two sides/same coin which isn’t true. It’s a harmful position to perpetuate. There’s been a ton of stuff written on that so I’m not going to put it all in here. But I recommend starting with an analysis of her voting record - it’s on point with Sanders, if that’s your bar, on almost everything with some differences, the notable ones being Iraq (she was for, he was against) and gun control (she is for, he is generally against - his record is really dodgy on that).
I believe all politicians are up for grabs when it comes to legitimate critiques. But there’s a difference in saying “I disagree with her arguments for why she voted for Iraq” and calling her right wing. One is a legitimate critique, the other is hyperbolic and untrue. I also believe in understanding the context of the time in which many policy decisions were made. She, and Sanders, have been in politics for over 20 years. There are going to be decisions made in 1992 that we can look back on and go: Oh boy that was Yikes. But at the time, that wouldn’t have been so clear cut. No one has all the answers. No one is perfect. Purity politics isn’t the solution to our social ills.
Anyway, some things HRC has supported, or accomplished, includes but is not limited to:
The ACA - which was huge at the time. I cannot emphasize this enough. It was Ground Breaking. I think younger folk either don’t remember, or aren’t aware, of what a game changer this was. Indeed, it’s because of the ACA that the many Americans are even open to the conversation around medicare for all/any sort of more socialist health coverage.
On a personal note, as a child of a single, poor working mom in the 90s this is the reason I had any sort of healthcare. Without it, we’d have been fucked.
This is also one of the things that sent the GOP into a fucking TIZZY about HRC and why they started their 30 year long smear campaign against her which has influenced a lot of the more recent leftist rhetoric on her.
Indeed, she was an early leader in expanding healthcare coverage in the early 90s and continued to be throughout her career.
Leadership with SCHIP which which expanded health coverage to millions of lower-income children.
I know we all wish we could have Instant Health Care For All but small steps is how you get these things. It’s incredibly complicated and difficult to set up health care systems and programs. They’re large, they become unwieldly, they’re expensive to fund, and they’re difficult to pass through congress. It’s useful to be able to point to precedents.
She founded the Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families
Supported and championed the Violence Against Women Act
Adoption and Safe Families Act (she was a supporter of it and helped champion it through)
One of the leaders of the development of the Lilly Ledbetter Pay Equity Act
Supported the Pediatric Research Equity Act - improving health and pharmaceutical access for children
START treaty - an attempt to begin regulating the amount of nukes Russia and the US have which, even if one wishes we could snap fingers and get rid of them all, one must admit isn’t a bad thing.
Negotiated ceasefire between Hamas and Israel in 2012 - again, regardless of views on Israel, Hamas and Palestine - having people stop fighting for a time isn’t a bad thing. The hope was it would lead to more productive, long term peace talks etc. but that sadly didn’t pan out.
Copenhagen Climate Change Accord - one of the chief negotiators
Etc. etc. she has 25 years of things to list but none of these things are right wing. One can disagree with her foreign policy approach, or think she didn’t push hard enough on health care, or that she came late to the table on LGBTQ issues, but that doesn’t make her right wing. I have right winger-s in the family and they’d all love to see Clinton dead. I know what the right wing looks like and it’s not her.
Things she supports that make actual, real right wing people (like my great grandfather and my uncle’s sister) hate her:
She supports and advocates for two weeks of paid family and medical leave at a minimum of 2/3s wage replacement rate
She supports expanding social security
You know, she believes in climate change and has worked to reduce carbon emissions, pushed for climate change accords, encouraged renewable energy, and ending tax subsidies for oil companies
clearly things a right wing person would do /sorry sarcasm I just can’t take it too seriously when people call her right wing
She supports immigration reform with full path to citizenship
She supports the naturalization of around 9 million lawful permanent residents in the United States who are eligible to become U.S. citizens
She’s pro-choice and believes abortion is basic health care
Sorry how do people think she’s right wing again?
She supports making it illegal for pharmacists to refuse to provide access to emergency contraception
When she was Sec. of State she wanted the US to join the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities
She supports the Disability Integration Act, which requires states and insurance companies to provide people with disabilities who need long term care the choice to receive care at home instead of solely in institutions and nursing facilities
She’s obviously pro-gun control and was the first candidate in 2016 to produce an extensive position paper on guns and gun violence
She supports voting rights and advocates for changes in national voter access laws, including automatically registering American citizens to vote at age 18 and mandating 20 days of early voting in all states
She has criticized laws passed by Republican-controlled state legislatures that do not permit student IDs at polling places, place limits on early voting, and eliminate same-day voter registration
She had one of the most thorough mental health care plans that I have ever seen in a presidential nominee.
It goes on. I again - I don’t get how people can look at this and think her right wing. I sure don’t agree with everything she’s done and every position she’s taken, but she’s not right wing. Good lord my people.
There’s a lot many people have to thank her for and they’re unaware of it. Tumblr and twitter aren’t ideal places to form and consume political points.
As a note, I work in the civil service in Canada (am a dual citizen), I’m very familiar with how large socialized programs work and how difficult it is to implement them. There are never any quick and clean solutions.
And on that note - I’m done for the time being. I hope this answers your question.
Required civic duty reminder: Everyone vote in the primaries and vote in 2020. Also - no politician is perfect, no politician is going to align 100% with your views and nor should they because you know, we live in a democracy. Do your homework, get off of tumblr and twitter, and make sure you vote!

Leftist analysis in a post-hegemonic world, something I'll write abt rn cuz I'm bored
1. Looking at when and why this transition happened to better understand the current (not 2 decades outdated) conditions 2. Applying this to international Leftist solidarity
— 1 —
First I'll talk about the US, even though this is a post about Russia, because it's about Western leftists using critiques determined by the US political situation. So first we should talk about the US political situation so we can talk about why the critiques should change too.
In my opinion, a strong turning point year was 2013. A lot of things happened this year. Obama started his 2nd term and the US State Department transitioned from Clinton to Kerry (more on this later), Putin was a year into a 6 year term, and China transitioned from Hu Jintao to Xi Jinping.
I'm not a "China expert" but I think Xi led China to have a much more international presence than Hu's focus on internal development; this helps developing countries have an alternative to predatory Western loan systems like the IMF. Boom, crack in the hegemony.
The State Department transition marked an end of an era in US diplomatic policy. From President Clinton in the '90s to Secretary Clinton in '08, US diplomacy has been very focused on "spreading democracy," and generally supported the concept of the US as a hegemonic 'guiding hand'. However, Kerry's priorities shifted sharply toward trying to fight climate change as well as trying to resolve the Israel-Palestine conflict and stabilizing Syria. During the period of US unipolarity, all of these problems actually got worse, because there was no one to stand up to US corporate shenanigans. On that note, it's good to remember that even though US diplomatic policy shifted around this year, corporations and other institutions of power dragged behind, so there was a bit of a disconnect.
Ok now that brings us to Putin and Russia.
— 2 —
Ok so I'm not Russian and I'm definitely not super knowledgeable about the current Russian leftist scene so this won't be super detailed.
I have my own opinions about Putin and potential behind the scenes going-ons, but imo none of that is actually relevant when it comes down to tangible leftist solidarity. Any politician will be moulded by their environment and come to represent the problems therein, and in this way Putin has come to represent a corrupt oligarchy fucking up Russian politics. My fellow Americans, this should sound familiar.
Unfortunately, the Russian Communist Party (at least its official party apparatus) doesn't have a lot of ideas looking forward, and seem more interested in just reminiscing about the Soviet past. There aren't other mainstream socialist/labor parties, and there's still some carryover state-union integration from the Soviet days. So basically, it seems like Russia is still v strongly in the development stage of Leftist action.
Furthermore, Russia - much like the US - also struggles with an incarceration problem/a prison industrial complex. I really can't expand on this much... just. Read Russian theorists, and also read US prison abolition stuff. Or something like that. Same with other stuff.
Idk the best ways to help, but step one is leaving behind an analytic framework dependent on the US being the only real actor on the international stage.
The US lost its ability to represent its interests as common interests for Russia and China, it cannot enforce compliance with military power, and its economic leverage is shrinking. In spite of what many of you claim, Russia is not reacting, adapting, making concessions anymore, it has re-gained agency and it is able to shape the world around it. Russia’s toolkit is different from that of the US, it is not hegemonic, as it relies on brute force rather than on soft power and economy. Nevertheless, brute force is a powerful tool, as you all know from the US behaviour in Latin America, Iraq, Afghanistan and all over the globe. Russia has mimicked the coercive infrastructure of America’s imperialism without preserving its hegemonic core.
And yet, this mimicry does not mean dependence. Russia has become an autonomous agent, its actions are determined by its own internal political dynamics, and the consequences of its actions are now contrary to western interests. Russia shapes the world around, imposes its own rules the way the US has been doing, albeit through other means. The sense of derealization that many commentators feel – ‘this is not happening with us’ – comes from the fact that the Russian warring elites are able to impose their delusions, transform them into the facts on the ground, make others accept them despite their will. These delusions are no longer determined by the US or Europe, they are not a reaction, they are creation.
Having faced ‘the impossible to imagine,’ I see how the Western left is doing what it has been doing the best: analysing the American neo-imperialism, the expansion of NATO. It is not enough anymore as it does not explain the world that is emerging from the ruins of Donbas and Kharkiv’s main square. The world is not exhaustively described as shaped by or reacting upon the actions of the US. It has gained dynamics of its own, and the US and Europe is in reactive mode in many areas. You explain the distant causes instead of noticing the emergent trends.
[
] Thus, it strikes me how, talking about the dramatic processes in our corner of the world, you reduce them to reaction to the activity of your own government and business elites. We have learnt all about the US and NATO from you, but this knowledge is not so helpful anymore. Maybe the US has drawn the outline of this board game, but now other players move the chips and add their own contours with a red marker. US-centric explanations are outdated. I have been reading everything written and said on the left about last year’s escalating conflict between the US, Russia, and Ukraine. Most of it was terribly off, much worse than many mainstream explanations. Its predictive power was nil.
[
] Do not let half-baked political positions substitute an analysis of the situation. The injunction that the main enemy is in your country should not translate into a flawed analysis of the inter-imperialist struggle. At this stage appeals to dismantle NATO or, conversely, accepting anyone there, will not help those who suffer under the bombs in Ukraine, in jails in Russia or Belarus. Sloganeering is harmful as ever. Branding Ukrainians or Russian fascists only makes you part of the problem, not part of the solution. A new autonomous reality emerges around Russia, a reality of destruction and harsh repressions, a reality where a nuclear conflict is not unthinkable anymore. Many of us have missed the tendencies leading to this reality. In the fog of war, we do not see clearly the contours of the new. Neither do, as it seems, the American or European governments.
In this reality we, the post-Soviet left, will have incomparably less organizational, theoretical, and simply vital resources. Without you, we will struggle to survive. Without us, you will be closer to the precipice.

For much of the 20th century, a section of the western intelligentsia deluded itself that something worthwhile was taking place in the Soviet Union. There were of course those well-known, even notorious intellectuals such as Beatrice and Sidney Webb, Bernard Shaw and HG Wells, who travelled east to pay obsequious tribute to the “new civilisation” (the Webbs’s words). However, there was a wider array of apologists who filtered through into the Labour Party, the trade unions and academia.
The romantic penumbra that surrounds the dictatorship in Cuba to this day is a good example of the moral leeway still granted to projects that are nominally socialist, or which seek to transform humanity in some way. As Leszek KoƂakowski put it, progressive hearts which are “bleeding to death when they hear about any, big or minor (and rightly condemnable) injustice in the US
suddenly become wise historiosophists or cool rationalists when told about worse horrors of the new alternative society”.
But the Soviet Union has been gone for almost 30 years, and today’s Cuba is mainly of kitsch value, its youthful revolutionary heroes preserved as a piece of sixties nostalgie; its diminishing achievements — education (Fidelista indoctrination) and internationalist healthcare (Cuban doctors sent overseas have been likened to indentured labour) — implausibly trotted out to justify over half a century of dictatorship.

Red alert: the childish fad for socialism
BY JAMES BLOODWORTH
And so a new generation of political “seekers” have turned to China for their ideological sustenance.
Beyond the mere worship of money and power, there is not much to like about the government in Beijing. The programme of socialist modernisation launched four decades ago by Deng Xiaoping has produced an authoritarian state capitalism overseen by a dictatorship which censors the internet, bans independent trade unions and pursues an aggressively imperialist policy in the South China Sea.
What the Chinese regime shares with the Stalinist USSR is contempt for ethnic minorities and civil society. Over recent years China has arrested a million Uyghurs and Kazakhs and placed them in forced labour camps. As Nick Cohen writes for The Observer, evidence of their criminality includes “wearing a veil or headscarf” and the “avoidance of alcohol”.
The esteemed British historian Eric Hobsbawm was asked in an interview for Desert Island Discs in 1995 if communist utopia would have been worth the sacrifice of millions of lives. Yes, the historian replied. The most charitable interpretation of Hobsbawm’s remarks was that it was at least plausible in the 1930s to believe that Stalin’s USSR was the only alternative to a western capitalism which looked increasingly like the handmaiden of fascism. Of course even that is a stretch: there were plenty of individuals at the time who eschewed fascism without embracing Stalinist mass murder.

A cautionary tale for today's 'woke' movement
BY JOHN GRAY
But does anyone truly believe that contemporary China is forging an egalitarian new civilisation? Income inequality in China exceeds that of the United States. Moreover, when it is not herding Uighurs into the Gulag, the Chinese Communist Party is busy suppressing young Chinese Marxists who have noticed the gap between official rhetoric and the corrupt and unequal reality.
Yet much like during the Cold War, a roll-call of useful idiots have faithfully stepped forward from deep within the cosseted bosom of western liberal democracy to defend China from criticism. Some, undoubtedly chasing clout on social media, have decided that “Muslims are treated better in Russia/China than in the United States”. This is concerning — the “journalist” in question has sixty six thousand followers — but easy to dismiss as inane online prattle. Still, behind the hot air merchants stand “progressive” organisations that have taken the decision to align themselves with the Chinese state while one of the biggest crimes of the 21st century unfolds.
The Morning Star, long an uncritical mouthpiece for authoritarian communism, describes evidence of Chinese persecution of the Uighurs as “laughably weak”, despite mountains of material from independent human rights organisations demonstrating the veracity of the claims. (The paper has history here: The Morning Star’s predecessor The Daily Worker faithfully toed the Soviet line, defending the pact with Hitler and the murderous show trials in Eastern Europe, while of course never mentioning the millions of people being worked to death in the Gulag). It is shameful that the British Left treat The Morning Star with reverence as an alternative to the capitalist press.

How the Left lost all purpose
BY JAMES BLOODWORTH
But The Morning Star is not the only culprit; new organisations are springing up to do Beijing’s dirty work. Today we have the “Progressive International”, launched in 2020 by prominent leftist luminaries including the former Greek finance minister Yanis Varoufakis, as well as Noam Chomsky and Naomi Klein (among others). The Progressive International says it wants to “defeat a rising authoritarian nationalism”, yet it has aligned itself uncritically with the Qiao Collective, a vehicle for the promotion of Chinese imperialism combined with the sort of authoritarian nationalist groups that the Progressive International were ostensibly founded to oppose. The Qiao Collective brooks no criticism of the CCP and either denies the persecution of Uighur Muslims, or portrays their oppression as a function of legitimate “anti-terrorism” policy by Beijing.
Together with denial and obfuscation when it comes to the projection of Chinese power, the Qiao Collective pushes Chinese state media which depicts western nations as in the grip of strife and malfeasance. The Russian television station RT has long deployed a similar tactic. Western audiences are urged to scrutinise their own governments and to “Question More” — until RT turns its attention to Russia, when this critical approach is replaced by the party line from the Kremlin.
This glaring double standard is evident to anyone who isn’t trying to make a name for themselves as an anti-American talking head. Just as the Soviet Union accused the West of “warmongering” (sometimes justifiably, as in Vietnam) while it sent armies to Afghanistan and the Horn of Africa to prop up bloody dictators, the Chinese State and its obsequious mouthpieces extol the virtues of racial justice in the US, while incarcerating a million Muslims in concentration camps.
It is perhaps understandable, although no less egregious for it, that the Chinese state should seek to downplay its misdeeds and calumnies. Stranger is the spectacle of progressive-minded commentators credulously lining up to offer the Chinese state their support.
Depressingly, a permanent feature of politics seems to be a stubborn rump of ideologues whose criticism of their own government co-exists with a need to develop a corresponding loyalty to another unit. Orwell called this phenomenon “transferred nationalism”. For Orwell, transference has an important political function: “It makes it possible for [the transferer] to be much more nationalistic — more vulgar, more silly, more malignant, more dishonest — than he could ever be on behalf of his native country, or any unit of which he had real knowledge.”

Ideologues miss Orwell's greatest lesson
BY JAMES BLOODWORTH
Authoritarian, rapaciously capitalist China is merely the latest “camp” that stands ready to be embraced by those who are temperamentally inclined to transference. “We examined the source data on the claims of millions of Uyghurs in so-called concentration camps,” said Max Blumenthal, the American left-winger and son of a former aide to Bill Clinton, on RT earlier this year. “We haven’t seen the evidence for these massive claims,” he added.
Blumenthal is the founder and editor of the far-Left news site The Grayzone. In the past, The Grayzone has supported grisly dictatorships in Syria and Venezuela for no reason other than the latter’s opposition to western liberal democracy. Chinese Foreign Ministry spokespeople Hua Chunying and Lijian Zhao have both approvingly tweeted a Grayzone article which sought to rubbish claims that China is persecuting its Uighur population.
The Max Blumenthals of the world may be base and cynical (Blumenthal’s politics took a 180 turn following a 2015 trip to the Kremlin), but in this postmodern age, it’s apparent that people still yearn to be part of something bigger than the self. Materialism and solipsistic self-betterment are not enough though. They have limited appeal next to the desire — felt in the days when Wells visited the USSR, and even more strongly felt today — to be part of a world historical struggle between good and evil. Whether or not this quasi-religious impulse is transposed onto an atheistic communist tyranny is largely beside the point. The search for a tyrannical fatherland, a steady ideological pole to cling onto in tumultuous times, continues unabated.
With the emergence of the contemporary pro-China useful idiot in mind, it is worth paraphrasing the dissident Russian revolutionary Victor Serge, himself a believer at one time in the big idea of communism, who noticed: “when there are no more worthwhile banners, people start to march behind worthless ones”.

World Moving towards Global War -Prophecy Focus 2017-2018. This is just one of many articles we are focusing in on for prophecy and importance of things to come. We therefore bring it forward again as a reminder of where we have come from and where we are going! The WIBR/WARN Radio Global Prophecy 2017-2018 special edition
As concerning Israel ‘God hath not cast away his people which he foreknew’ -The Apostle Paul in Romans 11:2.
Two cities, two nations, two people’s, many faiths; battle over the center of the world. Many solutions but nothing works. To those who live in these two cities and to both Jew and Gentile everywhere; many believe as concerning ‘election’, they are ‘beloved for the Fathers sake’.  It is here in this world we live in, that a tiny democracy lives daily amidst a sea of turmoil. Yet she continues to exist, however the battle for the land and it’s cities is far from over. Both Heaven and Hell look on, the answer lies in that which is truth and will come to pass!
The Tale of two cities and the survival of Israel
The Survival of Israel is never in question for those who support her. However her enemies are another story. In a related article found here Jerusalem, Tel Aviv ‘Tale of two cities’, on the WIBR/WARN Website we see the conflict. One city fights for survival as it’s capital; this is Jerusalem. The other modern city Tel Aviv speaks of the comfort of it’s residents. The division in Israel is that of both secular and religious; plus those who are neither. Like in many respects to America who has it’s secular, religious, and liberal leftists; plus those who are neither. Yet America is not Israel. Israel is Israel and no one should forget the difference between this tiny democracy in a sea of enemies and the rest of the world.

The survival of Israel: The Tale of two cities London and Paris
Yet the author of this article chose to use the phrase ‘Tale of Two cities’. Which immediately reminded me of Charles Dickens book, of the same name; by the way. The Tale of Two cities is set during the French Revolution and compares two cities; “London and Paris”! It is that difference that strikes the chord of the book.  In the beginning of the book; at the start, Chapter one we read the following “the best of times, the worst of times”! The goes on to describe the opposites in the world at that time. Wisdom vs foolishness, belief versus incredulity [unable to believe something], light vs darkness, hope versus despair. In fact this describes society today. It also describes any city in America versus most of the cities in the western world or the middle east.  You find such opposites.
“It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way – in short, the period was so far like the present period, that some of its noisiest authorities insisted on its being received, for good or for evil, in the superlative degree of comparison only. Tale of Two Cities Chapter One
The survival of Israel: The Tale of two cities Tel Aviv and Jerusalem
In the article Jerusalem, Tel Aviv: ‘A tale of two cities’ the author Marc Schulman writes of the same disparaging comparisons.  Marc regularly writes for Newsweek  authoring the Tel Aviv Diaries. He should know of the city he lives in and the one he compares it to; Jerusalem.  Marc writes that many in Israel believe there are no easy solutions, in fact finding any solution for peace is extremely hard. He then describes the problem. Here we find the same opposites, divergent views that Charles Dickens wrote about so long ago. However it is actually lived in one small nation, not two different countries like Dickens writes. England vs France or Israel vr itself! What a problem.
Those on the extremes, however, who live in a fantasyland, have it easy. Right-wing zealots contend we must exercise permanent sovereignty over millions of Palestinians—without giving them full rights—and that we can exert that same sovereignty over the Temple Mount without going to war with the Muslim world. At the same time, left-wing militants believe that all we have to do is agree to withdraw from the areas captured in 1967 and peace will break out. Meanwhile, the majority of the rest of us live in that complicated place that seems to offer no good solutions.
Yet in America we have religious people, secular people, and even political hacks like the Jewish Bernie Sanders who hate Israel. It should come as no surprise that many times we find a Jew who turn against fellow Jews.

The survival of Israel: The Tale of two jews: Those who love Israel and those to turn against her!
Moreover; Michael Laitman author of the article in the Jerusalem Post titled “Why Bernie Sanders hates Israel” points out that in May 1985 Sanders was still mayor of Burlington Vermont and proceeded to invite Noam Chomsky to give a town hall speech. In it, Chomsky stated that “Israel doesn’t want a political settlement” in the middle east. Chomsky further asserted that Israel was a ‘surrogate’ murderer for the US and carried out mass killings.  Further, Laitman said “no one should be surprise that Sanders believers that Israel killed over ‘10,000 innocent people’ in the latest Gaza conflict”.  Then pointing to one of the most horrendous massacres of at the time, Laitman relates this story.
Throughout history, the Jewish people have seen fellow Jews turn against their own people. Titus’ Chief of Staff, Tiberius Julius Alexander, who was Philo’s nephew and whose father donated the gilded gates to the Temple, commanded both the destruction of Jerusalem and the massacre of 50,000 of his native Jewish community in Alexandria. Michael Laitman article source.
The survival of Israel: The Right to exist
In addition we also must look at what many of those supporting Israel believe; ‘that Israel and the jewish people have a right to exist and do so in their own land given to them as a promise to Abraham.’ The issue for Israel to exist is not one of two views biblically, as far as I am concerned. However there are those in Christianity, both laymen and Theologians who seem to find the opposite of what I believe. The truth to Israel’s survive is one that is there in your face. There has always been jews living in the middle east and the fact that Arabs have been trying to push them out for over 2000 years doesn’t bode well to the issue of ‘has Israel been in the land for long’. Israel in the form of Jews whose connection is to David, Jerusalem, Solomon and the Temple; and the Davidic covenant as well; yes, these Jews whose roots go back this far have been in the land in some form or another. Here as just a couple of scriptures that also tell us the veracity of the covenant and that it is established forever. That means to you and I, it will not end.  The Apostle Paul writes in Romans Chapter Eleven and verse 28b “as touching the election, they are beloved for the fathers’ sakes”.  While over the centuries since the time of Christ the Jews have been as Paul says in that same verse; that the Jews are enemies as far as the gospel is concerned saying “as concerning the gospel, they are enemies for your sakes”. Well the Lord had many such enemies among the chief Priests, Sanhedrin, and Lawyers. The Apostles also and the early church well found out the hate of the Jews for the Christian and their faith. Over the centuries the enmity between Christendom and the Jew has been well recorded. Today, however; one revelation given to today’s Christian is the veracity of our Christian heritage founded in the Jewish faith and in the scriptures. You will find many, many Christians today who see that Israel and the Jews are indeed ‘beloved for the fathers sake’ as Paul wrote above.  Their support at this time is critical to helping Israel.
Psa 89:2-4 “Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations” (2) For I have said, Mercy shall be built up for ever: thy faithfulness shalt thou establish in the very heavens. (3) I have made a covenant with my chosen, I have sworn unto David my servant, (4) Thy seed will I establish for ever, and build up thy throne to all generations. Selah.
There are those in the Gentile nations whose purpose is to politically and dramatically solve the Jewish problem, the Israel problem, and the Palestinian problem in one swell swoop. By coercing Israel to give in to all their demands. Now I have been following this procedure for a very long time. Whenever Israel gives up land for peace; they get terrorized. One example of recent memory here in question is Gaza. Israel leaves the area and then Arafat comes in and presto; an Arab militant state bent on destroying Israel.
I personally oppose the two-state solution. It is unbiblical, unrealistic, and will never work. To make peace with a people that do not accept your biblical right to the land or to even exist is downright stupid. Now I know that many Israelites want peace, but at what cost? In America many push this view without consideration of Israel. As long as there is peace, Americans can go back to their deep sleep. The church in America is asleep on many issues today, Israel is just one of the many symptoms this backslidden, fairy tale Jesus and bubble gum church has. The faith in America’s Christians and their church is “two miles wide and one inch deep”.
The survival of Israel: The Tale of two faiths Christian and Jewish
Furthermore, Maoz Israel; a Tel Aviv based ministry writes in their latest June report from Israel; “Christ at the Checkpoint” Palestinian Christians Target Western Evangelicals, of the problem within the Christian community supporting Israel. It is here that Palestinian Christian leaders and their congregations all support the Palestinian cause and thus turn against Israel. The target for these Palestinian Christians are Western Evangelical Christians so they can persuade them to side with the Palestinians and against Israel.  The Article written by Shira Sorko-Ram of Maoz Israel writes of this:
Now, an entire movement among Palestinian Christians, promoted at Christ at the Checkpoint Conferences in Bethlehem, has risen up to join hands with Islam for the purpose of delegitimizing, isolating and destroying Israel with an enhanced version of Replacement Theology. It is the quintessential doctrine bred from anti-Semitism.
But now these Palestinians have gone much farther. They have created what is called Palestinian Liberation Theology. According to them, Jesus was not a Jew. He was a Palestinian. Israel has no historical or theological right to exist. Rather, according to the rewritten scriptures, the Palestinians are the chosen people. From Maoz Israel report June 2016
Again, Maoz Israel quotes Caroline Glick, editor of the Jerusalem post. She writes of the ‘importance of the Evangelicals to Israel’!  Caroline gives a number within the Evangelical community who support Israel, these she says ‘form the backbone of American support’ for the state of Israel. It is this support she declares and not of the Jewish community that makes the difference in America as to the US support for the Jewish state.
Today, Evangelical communities in the US number anywhere between 60 – 150 million people, depending on who is counting. They form the backbone of American support for the Jewish state. It is the support of the Evangelical community, rather than the Jewish community in the US that ensures that come hell or high water, no matter how Israel is demonized in the media and in academia, the majority of Americans continue to support Israel.
There is a battle both for the minds of the people who support Israel and between the Jew in Israel and the Jew who disagrees with them. It seems that the Jews at times are their own worst enemy. Even in Christianity we find this synopsis true, the Christian in America is often their own worst enemy. Like many Christian denominations, who over BDS and their support of this ‘anti-semitic’  tool which is used to destroy Israel. They support this and demonize Israel; backing the Palestinians whose own charter does not recognize Israel nor the Jewish people to be in the land God gave them.
Thus as we see the Tale of two cities, the opposites they consist of; can be our society today. It can the Tale of two nations; America and Israel, the Tale of two faiths; Christian and Jewish, the Tale of two states; Israel and the Palestinians. In the world today there is the ‘Truth as many see it’, then there is the ‘Truth as it really is’! This fundamental truth is the the Lord is the governor of the nations. He is the one who watches over Israel. He is the one who sent his only begotten son to die for our sins. But the link between Christian and Jew goes back to Abraham and to the God of Abraham. It moves forward through the centuries and this movement is detailed in the Torah and the Tanakh. Today there is no doubt the battle for the survival of Israel is at stake. However, in the end; the nations will gather around Jerusalem and Israel. But even as the gentile armies seem to have their way, they will indeed meet the Lord of Lords and King of Kings. They will do so in judgment hoisted up them for their evil ways and rebellion. They will receive the just due for coming against Israel. This is just the beginning of judgments we will see one day.
Zec 14:1-9 “I will gather all nations against Jerusalem” (1) Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. (2) For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. (3) Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. (4) And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. (5) And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee. (6) And it shall come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor dark: (7) But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light. (8) And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be. (9) And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one.

Jer 33:10-15 “I will cause to return the captivity of the land as at the first” (10) Thus saith the LORD; Again there shall be heard in this place, which ye say shall be desolate without man and without beast, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man, and without inhabitant, and without beast, (11) The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the LORD. (12) Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Again in this place, which is desolate without man and without beast, and in all the cities thereof, shall be an habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down. (13) In the cities of the mountains, in the cities of the vale, and in the cities of the south, and in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, shall the flocks pass again under the hands of him that telleth them, saith the LORD. (14) Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will perform that good thing which I have promised unto the house of Israel and to the house of Judah. (15) In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.
Rev 19:11-16 “The Lord comes to smite the nations” (11) And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. (12) His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. (13) And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. (14) And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. (15) And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. (16) And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.
Rev 22:11-17 “I come quickly and my reward is with me” (11) He that is unjust, let him be unjust still: and he which is filthy, let him be filthy still: and he that is righteous, let him be righteous still: and he that is holy, let him be holy still. (12) And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. (13) I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. (14) Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city. (15) For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie. (16) I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star. (17) And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.

When I became President, ISIS was out of control in Syria & running rampant. Since then tremendous progress made, especially over last 5 weeks. Caliphate will soon be destroyed, unthinkable two years ago. Negotiating are proceeding well in Afghanistan after 18 years of fighting.. ... ....Fighting continues but the people of Afghanistan want peace in this never ending war. We will soon see if talks will be successful? North Korea relationship is best it has ever been with U.S. No testing, getting remains, hostages returned. Decent chance of Denuclearization... ... ...Time will tell what will happen with North Korea, but at the end of the previous administration, relationship was horrendous and very bad things were about to happen. Now a whole different story. I look forward to seeing Kim Jong Un shortly. Progress being made-big difference!

Large sections of WALL have already been built with much more either under construction or ready to go. Renovation of existing WALLS is also a very big part of the plan to finally, after many decades, properly Secure Our Border. The Wall is getting done one way or the other!
Lets just call them WALLS from now on and stop playing political games! A WALL is a WALL!
With Murders up 33% in Mexico, a record, why wouldn’t any sane person want to build a Wall! Construction has started and will not stop until it is finished. @LouDobbs @foxandfriends
China’s top trade negotiators are in the U.S. meeting with our representatives. Meetings are going well with good intent and spirit on both sides. China does not want an increase in Tariffs and feels they will do much better if they make a deal. They are correct. I will be...... ... ....meeting with their top leaders and representatives today in the Oval Office. No final deal will be made until my friend President Xi, and I, meet in the near future to discuss and agree on some of the long standing and more difficult points. Very comprehensive transaction.... ... ....China’s representatives and I are trying to do a complete deal, leaving NOTHING unresolved on the table. All of the many problems are being discussed and will be hopefully resolved. Tariffs on China increase to 25% on March 1st, so all working hard to complete by that date!
Republicans on the Homeland Security Committee are wasting their time. Democrats, despite all of the evidence, proof and Caravans coming, are not going to give money to build the DESPERATELY needed WALL. I’ve got you covered. Wall is already being built, I don’t expect much help!
Democrats are becoming the Party of late term abortion, high taxes, Open Borders and Crime!
More troops being sent to the Southern Border to stop the attempted Invasion of Illegals, through large Caravans, into our Country. We have stopped the previous Caravans, and we will stop these also. With a Wall it would be soooo much easier and less expensive. Being Built!
Looking for China to open their Markets not only to Financial Services, which they are now doing, but also to our Manufacturing, Farmers and other U.S. businesses and industries. Without this a deal would be unacceptable!
Schumer and the Democrats are big fans of being weak and passive with Iran. They have no clue as to the danger they would be inflicting on our Country. Iran is in financial chaos now because of the sanctions and Iran Deal termination. Dems put us in a bad place - but now good!
Very sadly, Murder cases in Mexico in 2018 rose 33% from 2017, to 33,341. This is a big contributor to the Humanitarian Crisis taking place on our Southern Border and then spreading throughout our Country. Worse even than Afghanistan. Much caused by DRUGS. Wall is being built!
(Video)
Just concluded a great meeting with my Intel team in the Oval Office who told me that what they said on Tuesday at the Senate Hearing was mischaracterized by the media - and we are very much in agreement on Iran, ISIS, North Korea, etc. Their testimony was distorted press.... ... ....I would suggest you read the COMPLETE testimony from Tuesday. A false narrative is so bad for our Country. I value our intelligence community. Happily, we had a very good meeting, and we are all on the same page!
Our great U.S. Border Patrol Agents made the biggest Fentanyl bust in our Country’s history. Thanks, as always, for a job well done!

Dear 2017, Thank you but screw you!
It’s that time of the year again when people start to reflect everything that happened in the past year. You, my dear 2017, have been marvelous and yet dreadful at the same time. With you, I took one step forward however the world seemed to take two steps back. Perhaps, all the ugliness you have showed me was not meant to extinguish my spirit and idealism, rather to emphasize the beauty and hope in the smallest of things. I’ll look at it this way, otherwise I’ll go insane.
Despite all the progress that our modern world has made, we have witnessed a return to dark, medieval, and barbaric values and principles with you. Your predecessors have managed to build foundations and structures that positively support climate change, human rights, anti corruption & good governance, democracy, justice, and peace. Yet, my dear 2017, you have managed to put these foundations into shambles. We saw the most ignorant of world leaders make stupid decisions: from backing out of a climate change instrument to adding fuel to the fire of the Israel-Paestine conflict. We saw populist and extremist leaders elected all over the world, most particularly in a region that was priding itself as the vanguard of democracy and diversity. We saw the shift of public opinion and sentiment from pro-migration to anti-refugee, from open arms to closed and securitized borders. Xenophobia is gaining traction and rooting itself in the deepest of masses of people. There’s been no change in Aung San Suu Kyi’s hypocrisy and silence on the plight of the Rohingya people. The war in Syria shows no signs of stopping. Millions of people are displaced forcibly, or worse, killed. Oh don’t get me started on the events in Libya where migrants are being sold as slaves (Really? Slaves in this modern day and age. The world is really returning to barbaric times!).
In my own country, a war is being waged against the poor and vulnerable under the guise of “war on drugs” by the leader who campaigned and promised to protect the Filipino people make the country great. Our legal victory, the victory of the integrity of our republic, about the disputed territories against China was thrown out of the window. Instead, I see a country led by an administration deeply indebted to the China. I feel like we sold ourselves to the devil. Even the peace talks with the leftist rebels of my country crumbled to dust when you came in, my dear 2017. We were so hopeful in the beginning, we thought: “Finally! someone from Mindanao, who understands what is at stake for the country, for the people, he will help us cement the peace and end decades of rebellion.” That was until our perceived supreme savior showed his true colors. Perhaps, he did want to change the system, but as far as we are concerned, the system did not change for us, but for him, his family, and his friends. It was just basically a transfer of power from the ruling capital-based oligarchs and political families, to another political family from the south of the country. During my time with you, I saw innocent children and young adults die, not just in my country, but all over the world.
Although to be fair, you weren’t all that bad. Good things also happened during our time with you: scientific advancements; people standing up against oppressive regime; LGBT+ rights recognition (in some countries); Angela Merkel’s re-election and her stepping up as the leader of the Free World (sorry US of A but the crown now belongs to Germany);  the election of Katrin Jakobsdottir, Iceland’s new PM who’s an anti-war feminist and environmentalist; ordinary people doing good deeds for vulnerable people; Prince Harry and Meghan Markle getting engaged (I’m a fan of both of them so I consider it a really good thing) and many more.
With you, my dear 2017, I managed to cross several things off my bucket list, traveling and studying in Europe. I was one of the lucky ones, I guess. I managed to go outside of my comfort zone, experience new place, new life, alone. I learned to stand on my own two feet.  You’ve helped me grow professionally and personally. It’s during this time that I met a bunch of wonderful people that have inspired me to strive to be better.
vimeo
Meeting my peers from all over the world was amazing and it wouldn’t have happened without you, my dear 2017. It is through them that I come to a realization that fools running a government and a country are not just unique to mine. That each and everyone of us were experiencing darkness in our own ways. Still, darkness does not make us afraid. If anything, it makes us more determined to persevere. I met a diverse group of people who wants to make a world a better place, people who are full of light in a world filled with darkness. They give me hope for the future. The adults leading today might be making all the wrong decisions, but we — the next generation of young adults — are just bidding our time, observing, taking notes, recording, learning, and strategizing on what we can do for a better tomorrow.
Yes, you have given me, given us, a learning experience. You’ve taught and shown us many things we’ll never forget and will be placed in history books. I’d like to say thank you for the many memories and wisdom but also, I can’t wait to get rid of you. I’m excited to meet your successors, 2018, 2019
We’re ready to fight back, to forge a new path little by little, year by year, so that we can build back the progress that was broken this year and more.
With love,
-J
