"Look Sharp!" / Roxette
Year: 1988
Country: 🇸🇪 (Sweden)
Genre: Pop / Pop rock
You've probably already heard "The Look" and/or "Listen to your heart". If so then I recommend you give the whole album a chance (pay attention to the songs added in the re-releases) especially if you are interested in listening to non-US pop bands or if you like ABBA and want to hear more Swedish musicians. Personally I like their more "rock" songs but if you prefer something more chill this album is also for you.
Fave song ⭐: "Chances"

Roxette's debut did what? Well, the latter caused them to check what worked, which is why they decided to Look Sharp. Ahem, yes, try the fish or something. Anyhow, the follow-up to their introduction still owes a lot to the 80's, yet we shouldn't hold that against them, since they always represented an alternative to the usual 80's by sounding like the period without being too obvious about that. Moreover, their tunes continue to be seen as riddles, because some of their elements, such as lyrics, do not make much conventional sense, they use them as the tools to reach their goal of being the best pop group. An exaggeration? Perhaps, yet the tune on the link could've collapsed and you know what? The tune succeeds.

Hey, do any of you people remember that one tf2 comic where soldier is talking to a bunch of wooden cutouts thinking they’re real people? You know how it was supposed to be a joke about how insane Soldier is, unable to differentiate the inanimate from the alive? Am I the only one who lost my mind about the implications of that or am I going just as insane as him.

If chaos was personified I think it would be Damian. Tiny child filled with rage and equipped with far too many weapons.
