The Sound of Love
☆ Pairing: Loki x Mutant!Reader
☆ Synopsis: Loki now an Avenger, is quite the reclusive and introverted member in the Avenger's compound and for someone who likes peace and quiet, it's ironic how smitten he is for the loudest member of the team.
☆ Word Count: 5,207
☆ Notes: Loki is smitten flirty ler. Reader is a mutant with hypersonic voice. This had been in my WIPs for so long, but I finally have some time off 😭 enjoy.
☆ Warnings: Anxious Reader, insecurities regarding voice and brief weight insecurities are mentioned. I am a sucker for opposites attract so the reader is a stereotypical sunshine happy go lucky.

Being an Avenger was interesting on its own, periods of strict dieting, rigorous training regimes, public events to raise public morale, testing out technology, political meetings, missions that lasted days or even weeks. Now, when you were, not only a former enemy, but the enemy, the original reason they came to exist… Well, it made it all more difficult to just do anything outside of the tower.
It made Loki concerningly reclusive. At first it seemed convenient, people were scared of him, so him wanting nothing to do with the outside seemed like a fair exchange, the facilities had everything needed to survive anyway. But it was only a matter of time until it became concerning.
So, Thor started doing his best to drag him along to his patrols and visits to town. Which helped getting less dirty looks from people rather when he tried going alone. But Loki always found a way to escape back to the compound and cut his visits to the town short.
But things changed the day he met you.
And Loki was not particularly one to fawn over mortals like his brother whose line of lovers could fill countries, not even over another god. While Loki had a fair string of lovers behind him, none ever really meant much to him or lasted much for that matter.
But you… you had something different. You were everything Loki found annoying. If there was a list to thing that got on Loki’s nerves, you may have as well checked every little box. You had a strict moral code and mawkish righteousness like the super soldiers, you had a strong temper and were very vocal about the things you did not stand for like his brother, you had a bubbly personality and enjoyed teasing and joking (almost flirting) around like Stark and the Falcon did and given your powers you tended to be quite loud. And somehow, despite all those things that could drive Loki mad, he was completely smitten. Which was probably the most infuriating trait you had.
Being placed together, Loki and you seemed to be like night and day at first instance. Loki noticed how you always seemed to be in a good mood and never denied anyone a nice chat, while you practically had to beg Loki to engage in conversation and even still, he’d seem rather bothered by being interrupted. You were always doing something to help around the quarters like doing extra dishes, cooking snacks for everyone, or wiping dusty furniture when you noticed something was dirty while Loki spent his free time with books are maybe an old movie when he felt like agreeing to enjoy human culture. And while you enjoyed reading as well, while Loki liked reading in silence you usually heard music earphones as you wagged your leg along the beat as you devoured books beside him.
“Hey nerds,” Sam stepped in the room. “We’re going dancing tonight, you two coming?”
“I’d rather—”
“Oh, which club?” you asked excitedly.
You had a way of peaking Loki’s interest when you spoke like that, your enthusiasm was terribly contagious, but he was too proud to do anything but pretend he was still focused on his book.
“Nat and Wanda wanted to take their men dancing.”
“Oh, so we’re staying home tonight?” you smiled.
“Do you think yourself capable of convincing Banner or Vision of socializing in a big club?”
“Hey, no judging. Besides, it’s more fun like that, we get to choose our own music.” You smiled brightly, you always seemed to have something nice to say about everyone. “Which conference hall are you gonna use?”
“2C, at 9 pm.” Sam grinned. “I take it we’ll see you there, mockingbird?”
“Yeah, should I wear something in particular?” you asked.
“Oh, how about that something se—”
“Sam, you finish that sentence and I’ll glue your upper arms to your chest.”
He wasn’t one to agree with the other Avengers, but that was something he wouldn’t mind seeing. And Wilson didn’t take it personal as he just laughed and left.
“Are you joining us, Loki?” you asked.
“I would rather stay here and finish my book” Loki smiled. “You go have fun though, darling.”
“Oh… b-but it won’t be as fun without you! Please, please, oh please!” you had your fingers tangled in a praying gesture and you were making the biggest pleading eyes he’d ever seen.
You were unfairly cute, but the power of persuasion you had over him was even scarier than the one from your mutation.
“Yes, of course” he sighed. “Thor would be upset if I keep passing up on your silly group bonding activities.”
You had tackled him in a couch in a bright hug as you thanked him over and over as your cheek squeezed his own, even pressing a sweet kiss against his cheek.
Between such affection and getting to see you dance all night was the most delightful way to spend the night he could think of. Next chance he’d even dance with you. Because he didn’t want to make the mistake of not dancing with you when you invited him ever again. Not that he minded watching you dance the night away.
And your singing, Norns, if you weren’t talking to anyone, you were always singing at least in a mumbly manner. Loki wondered how you could never go hoarse.
Every time you sung Loki’s heart fluttered. There was no right that your singing did the things it did to him. But he couldn’t help but swoon every time you did. And people were starting to notice. Karaoke nights were particularly interesting.
“The little mortal has a lovely voice, right?” Thor nudged him while you were on their improvised stage with Wanda, singing to Dance with Somebody.
“It’s good” Loki shrugged, trying to play it off.
“Yes, you seem to be enjoying it...” Clint said making a mocking dreamy face with along with an over dramatic sigh.
“Leave Rudolf alone,” Tony said.
Loki arched an eyebrow. Stark wasn’t the kind to be mediator when teasing took place, much less when he was tipsy like this.
“Being absolutely smitten over a human must be damaging enough to his pride.” He snickered.
Banner and Rogers just smiled amusedly, meaning Loki was not gonna get any back up from the more level-headed Avengers. Not that he expected it.
“You’re all delusional idiots.” Loki rolled his eyes.
But his attention was snatched back to the stage when you reached a high note. You had a good technique, your mouth opened wide with a smile as your voice reached a volume high enough that you broke Tony’s wineglass.
At this point, it was a normal occurrence. Everyone still remembered that they had to replace the old crystal dome on the recreational room with fortified polymer “soundproof” windows from that one karaoke night when they had you singing Dream On, the fact that no one left that night with permanent hearing damage was almost a miracle.
This time you didn’t seem to even notice the casualty of Tony’s glass, as you and Wanda kept jumping and dancing around as you sang happily with your friend. Loki could feel the heat creeping up on his cheeks as he saw how happy you danced around, and he could suppress the smile.
It was funny really, how much his mother would scold him growing up for being so impatient with Thor’s loud a boisterous nature just to end up falling for someone who was exactly that, maybe even worse. You had a lot of energy which was good because you always pushed yourself in training, but Loki never expected to be so drawn to someone like you. You shone like the sun itself, and being a frost giant like he was, it seemed almost dangerous to fall for you.
“Loki, Loki, Loki!” you jumped on the couch next to him, “Look, Loki!”
Ah, that was another thing, you had a tendency to say his name a lot. You were what Midgardians described as hyperactive, but his name was something you repeated a lot more than any word, and more than anyone else’s.
“A cardboard box?” he smiled. “What’s so exciting about that?”
“Oh, haha” you rolled your eyes, “My package arrived!”
You gave him a pleading look and he smiled. At this point it was almost a ritual, you got a delivery and you rushed to Loki for him to open it with a dagger he’d summon. Which had also started a game.
“What’s your guess, darling?” he smirked as his hand sizzled with his Seid.
“The silver twins daggers, I mean one of them, but you get it” you said firmly.
It was that simple, he had such a wide and vast collection of daggers that whenever you needed him to use them, you’d have to try to guess which one he’d summon.
Most of the time you’d lose give the odds were at least 50 to one, and it didn’t help that honoring his title, Loki would change his pick last second if you ever got it right. But today he was in a good mood, and soon he was wielding one of his silver daggers, it felt weird wielding the left dagger on his right hand, but your excitement to see you had got it right was worth it as you fell back to the couch with a “WOOO!”
“Oh, congratulations little canary” he clapped.
“You’re becoming predictable, Loki” you smiled.
“Oh, is that right?” he grinned as he reached to poke your side making you squeak.
“Would you rather admit that I’m getting to know you better?” you smiled.
“Loki don’t quit your dreams as an Avenger, you don’t have much future as a harlequin” he chuckled.
“Oh, I don’t know, I’ve made you laugh, and not everyone is as tough of an audience as you are.”
He just chuckled as he opened your package for you. It was two pairs of headphones.
“Another one?” he smiled. “Do you break them that often that you need to be in constant state of purchase? And what do you need the extra set for?”
“You say it as if I just compulsively and irresponsibly bought headphones!”
Loki arched an eyebrow and relished the fait blush on your cheeks.
“I re-sell the ones in good state” you mumbled.
“Right, whatever you say. That’s why you got two pairs.”
“No, uh... this one’s for you.” You smiled as you handed him a pair, “They have better Bluetooth range, the battery lasts longer, the headband is adjustable, and it blocks outside noise.”
When you handed him the pair, he got a better look at them. It was pitch black, and on the driver, it had a little golden sticker shaped like his helmet, he shifted it and the gold shone green. It was still weird how ever since Thor let his story be known people had become more accepting of him, especially people who knew that the Mad Titan was a monster had even come to support him, but the concept of merchandising his image for admirers to show their preference for him was still new to the former prince.
But the present was very pretty, almost as the little mortal gifting it.
“Thank you” he said a bit more softly than he intended.
“It’s no problem,” you tucked a string of hair behind your ear in a way that made his heart flutter.
“This will help me have a reason to not hear Thor’s drunk singing the next Barton drops by with beer.”
You let out a shy laugh.
“A-Ah… no, it’s for me actually” you said, “well, because of me, I mean.”
“You? What could I possibly need to avoid hearing you for?”
You shrugged.
“Thor mentioned a while back that you thought I was too loud.”
“He did?”
Oh… Oh that imprudent, bumbling, traitorous, airheaded, twisted oaf. That’s NOT what had happened. He remembered that conversation like it had been yesterday.
“Loki, there you are!” his brother had called him.
“Where else would I be?” Loki asked tiredly. “It’s too early.”
“Ah, I see the young mockingbird has kept you awake again” Thor said noticing the mug of coffee on his younger’s brother’s hands.
“We stayed up late talking, yes” Loki yawned. “Where she gets so much energy from is beyond me.”
Thor just laughed.
“I don’t think I’ve ever seen you like this brother, it’s a welcome change, for sure, but an odd one.”
“What do you mean?”
“The little Midgardian has you completely enamored” Thor grinned smoothly, “I didn’t think she’d even be your type.”
“She’s… certainly different from what I’m accustomed” Loki agreed. “I’d dare to say he’s more rambunctious than you are. But she’s honest and strong-willed, a combination I didn’t get to see much of.”
Loki could only roll his eyes at previous relationships, because of his status he’d be greeted with two approaches: either partners who feared his rank and power and would submit to his will for fear, or even worse, leeches that would use him as a steppingstone to get to power (or get close to Thor). After a while Loki just gave up and played along treating every lover like a casual affair and soon move on to the next thing.
You, for once had no interest on royalty besides movies, you absolutely adored helping Thor prepare for dates with Jane which mean there was no interest. And you had no reprieve on giving Loki a piece of your mind when you felt he deserved it.
He smiled.
“She stayed up singing until late…” Loki mumbled, mostly for himself.
“I think it’s great.” Thor encouraged him. “When are you asking our little singing bird out?”
Loki chuckled, it was amusing to see how much better Thor adapted to Midgard expressions and idioms.
“I don’t think that’s gonna happen, brother” Loki said with the hint of a sad smile. “You said it, we’re not exactly each other’s types.”
“It’s true you’re quite the somber one, brother.” Thor teased him. “And our little mortal canary is always loud and bright.”
“Thing I would not and do not tolerate from anyone else” Loki said looking at his uproarious brother. “But she would find me rather dull.”
He never said he found you annoying, quite the opposite. But he could only imagine what his brother had done. He’d seen it far too many times back on Asgard.
When Thor, Volstagg or Fandral wanted to flirt they’d have this ridiculous approach of sending another one of them to mess with the girl they wanted to impress, annoy her into flirting. All harmless fun and always careful not to actually disrespect the maiden in question but Loki still found it annoying and like Hogun preferred a calmer style for the first approach. At least it was funny to see their strategy blow up in their face and more than once get a slap in the face.
Thor must have gone to you and mentioned that Loki thought you were too loud to tease you on his behalf. Not keeping in mind that you were not Asgardian which meant you were not accustomed to their harsher approach, and much less that despite loving to sing you were profoundly conscious about your voice’s volume. Loki had always been very careful about pointing out when your power made you too loud. Gently placing a hand on your thigh to calm you down when you got overexcited and therefore loud.
And yet, despite all of Loki’s effort to make you feel comfortable around him, here you were, with a timid smile with the most thoughtful gift to push Loki away. Thor could officially be crowned as the worst wingman in history of all Nine Realms.
He sighed.
“Dear heart, I don’t think I need this” Loki said gently, “Not for the reason you think, at least.”
“I just thought you could use not hearing me blasting your eardrums when you’re reading” you joked, but the tone of awkwardness was palpable.
“I’d be willing to risk that if you’d believe me, I don’t truly mind hearing you sing” Loki chuckled.
“But my voice… And music taste…”
“Are both beautiful,” Loki interrupted you, “and no one has a wider range of music in the entire Compound. Which I recall someone scolding me for not expanding my horizons to human music.”
“Ah… well, yeah, but you can always get that from the others, oldies from Steve and Bucky, rock from Tony, pop and electronic from Pete, and when Quill and the Guardians you can hear 80’s—”
“Dear, you’re very optimistic I can actually stand anyone you mentioned” Loki laughed. “Not everyone has your luck.”
“And no one else here likes—”
“Aaah!” you shushed him covering his mouth, “We agreed to never talk about my sins. It’s our secret.”
The look you gave him was threatening but sharing a secret with you was exciting and heartwarming. More because it was the most harmless secret, but you still got embarrassed about it, which Loki found beyond endearing.
“Oh, really? I very clearly remember hearing you singing to the top of your lungs this very week to it.”
“Shhh” you whispered as you fought a giggle. “We don’t talk about that, only you get to know.”
“Good to know I’m so special” Loki chuckled.
“You were a happy mistake” you said squinting your eyes in joking manner. “But if anyone else finds out I’m strangling you.”
“What’s the expression you mortals have…?” Loki smirked, “Don’t threaten me with a good time?”
Your cheeks turned hot pink as you smacked his arm with a laugh.
“You’re pain in the ass” you laughed.
“Well, I certainly appreciate having some influence on your backside.”
You let out a screech as you began smacking his arm with a bright blush on your face. But as he should’ve expected your screech was loud and made Loki wince a bit.
“Ah… Sorry” you said as the mumble returned to your voice. “See? That’s what the headphones are good for.”
Loki scowled with a huff.
“Alright, that’s enough.”
Before you had time to ask Loki had thrown you over the ottoman and with his knees pinning you by the shoulders and his feet stuck under the ottoman so there was no force on earth moving you.
“Uhh… Lokes? W-What are you doing?” you asked nervously.
“Testing how loud you can really be.”
What do you— Pfft!”
Loki didn’t make you wait for an answer (or to finish your question, that is), and he began slowly dragging his fingers across your ribs in a maddeningly gentle manner. And it wasn’t like your thin t-shirt didn’t do much to protect you.
You clenched your jaw as a big grin appeared on your face.
“Pfft! L-Loki!” you snickered.
“Yes, little dove?” Loki asked innocently.
Loki kept gently dragging his fingers across your torso, slowly tracing his fingers up and down your sides and ribs, in circular motion across your armpits and spiraling onto the center of your tummy.
All you could do was smack his legs as you tried to free your arms and kicking your legs on the air and your cheeks puffed with your jaw clenched as you did all you could to not burst out laughing.
“L-Loho— Loki please!” you looked like you were about to burst. “I’m behe— I’m begging you. D-Don’t!”
Loki just chuckled.
“Darling, I have not even started the real fun” he grinned deviously, “and you already look like you’re gonna puncture your own lung. Just laugh already.”
“I cahahan’t” you whined between the strangled giggles. “It’ll huhurt yohohou!”
“Beautiful little bird,” Loki smiled, “it’d be impossible for you to hurt me.”
He noticed the pretty rosy blush on your cheeks, and he relished the way you got flustered at his teasing. Loki simply chuckled and squeezed your ribs, now poking your ribs, drilling his fingers between each rib. Growing up both as the God of Mischief and with Thor as his older brother, he had come to know first-hand what kind of tickles were better to make someone laugh to insanity.
And that you did.
Your face was already impossibly red in the face, and giggles were already slipping out, so the poking were just the last straw that made you finally crack up. And you burst into loud laughter and crazy squirming, kicking your legs against the ottoman, arching your back and tugging against Loki’s hold as he tickled you to tears.
“LOKI! HAHAHAHA! W-WAIT! WAHAHAHAIT!” you screeched.
Loki winced a bit at your superhuman volume as a smile formed on his face from both pride from making you laugh and the endearment of your laugh on its own. Your pretty laugh only being further motivation to tickle you more.
But he decided ease off the tickling as he just stopped poking your ribs to gently scribble your ribs in light feather like touches. But by now your defenses were shattered to pieces and you kept giggling in soft wheezing giggles. He simply wiggled two fingers on each side as if he was striking chords of his old lyre.
“Oh gohohohod! How is thahahat so bad?!” you giggled in between hiccups and soft wheezes.
“I don’t think it’s that bad, you’re just that ticklish” he chuckled softly. “Look at you, you’re wheezing.”
“Hehehe! I’m not!” you hiccup. “Lohoki!”
The way you laughed out his name made Loki’s heart flutter in his chest. Your voice got high-pitched and wheezy in a way that was awfully adorable and it urged him to give you the biggest hug and cover your face in kisses and beg you to be his own.
“Loki! I'm gonna gehehet you back for this!” you screamed in a fit of laughter. “Stohohop it!”
Loki grinned without relenting just a bit, simply leaning into your ear.
“Oh, is that so? What makes you think you can get me, little dove?” he chuckles as he gently traced his fingers over your sides. “And do you assume you can get now, or at some later point when you are not trapped and helpless under me? Because all things considered...that sounds like an empty threat… my dear.”
The self-satisfaction in his tone was infuriating.
“You’re all mine to toy around with right now, little robin…” he said in an almost flirtatious tone.
“N-No! Loki! Don’t you dare!” you squeaked out.
He looked you in your eyes with a devious sparkle in his eyes, those same eyes Loki did whenever he got you involved in a prank that would most likely get both of you in trouble, and he smiled.
“I think, my darling…” he whispered softly, in a way he knew his breath would tingle against your skin. “I very much dare.”
And with that his gentle and nimble fingers reached your stomach, giving it a lot of gentle pokes and scribbling all over the skin poorly covered by your thin shirt with his blunt nails.
He knew that among the long list of insecurities you had, your stomach was high up there, and so he knew certain touches would make you uncomfortable, so he kept his eye on your face, paying extra reactions to see if any touch made you upset. But you seemed more focused on the sensation he inflicted on your sensitive skin, and your expressions didn’t reflect any sign of distress.
“Lohohohoki! Stohohop that!” you giggled.
“Aw… is it too much for you?” he grinned cheekily. “You’re quite the delight to torment though, and I wonder… just how would you manage this sort of attention… on the other areas you were ticklish upon.”
As he spoke he lower his hand to drag his fingers over your waistline from side to side in a maddeningly slow manner. The look of shock on your face was priceless.
“LOKI!” you cried.
“Oh my, my, little sparrow, are you ticklish here too?” he chuckled in an almost innocent tone as his finger slipped past your shirt as his nail scraped lightly over the ticklish spot.
But he did slow down, not enough to make it all stop, but enough to make you go back to soft laughs.
“Hm…” Loki looked at you, pretending to be in deep contemplation. “If I didn’t know you any better, I would dare to assume you are enjoying yourself.”
Loki had seen others in the compound tickle you before, he had tickled you before, and it was noticeable enough that you didn’t seem to mind the playful attention, given you hardly fought back or protested when.
You let out an outraged before a squeeze to your hipbones made you burst into giggles after a clearly involuntary snort that made Loki laugh.
“Oh, no witty back talking?” Loki chuckled.
“Ihihihi! I’m gohohonna kill you!” you threatened him.
“Will you now?” Loki arched an eyebrow. “And how do you intend to do so?”
Rather than having a verbal response, he felt ticklish squeezing over his thighs and above his knees that made him jolt and bark out a laugh. It was enough distraction to make him stop for a moment, and he saw that little triumphant glint in your gaze.
“That was very very bold of you to make an attack like that...” he congratulated you, his tone menacingly impish. “But so far I had been gentle.”
And with that he shot his fingers onto the exposed hollow of your armpits. You immediately lose it when his fingers reach and tickle your underarms, immediately exploding into loud laughter once more.
“NOHOHOHO! NONONONO! LOKI, LOKI PLEASE! NOHOHOHOT THERE!” you squealed. “NAHAHAHAHA! HEHEHAHAHA! PLEEEEHAHAHAHAAHAHA!”
Your voice turned loud, and the walls literally shook around the two of you. But Loki was unscathed, perhaps a bit stunned by the strength of your voice, but he didn’t relent on the tickling.
“Well, that’s cute… but just for your information…” he smirked in a way that, had you been able to see through your tears of laughter would’ve made you weak in the knees. “I am not afraid of your ticklish little fingers.”
He chuckled again, as his fingers wiggling more sporadically, almost vibrating against your skin. You let out a blood curdling scream before your laughter turns silent, your face is red like a tomato and tears just kept streaming nonstop down your face as your body was shaking like a malfunctioning machine, your entire body language making evident that you need a break.
Perhaps that was a good sign that he had to stop. So, he did.
He raised his knees so you could slip your arms from under his legs, and you immediately pressed them against your chest, laughing silently prey of a giggle fit in a state of euphoria.
“Did I just...go too far?” he asked with a sheepish smile. “...I think...I may have gone too far, I apologize if… if I... I— hmpf!”
Before Loki could register what had happened, you had cupped his face and your lips were against his.
It wasn’t exactly the way Loki had pictured kissing you, and by all the Nine Realms had thought about it quite in detail. But this was… quite different from what he had fantasized. Your faces were upside down one from another, and it had happened so fast that you had just got Loki’s bottom lip at first impact, and he had been caught completely off guard.
But oh Gods… this topped every scenario he could’ve mused. Your lips were soft and smooth, and the taste of you… Norns, it was intoxicating, and it made him feel light-hearted, instinctively making close his eyes as melted into the kiss, leaning over to get a better taste of this paradise he had just encountered. He mimicked you as one of his hands reached to cup your cheek and caress it with his thumb.
Who knows how long you were like this, but it was certainly not enough.
But when you broke the kiss the look in your eyes was of shock and terror as you cupped your hands over your mouth.  Again, not what he would’ve expected. He had not got any complaints in his past about his skills, so he was certain he was not a sloppy kisser to be the sole cause of that expression.
“I— no... I didn’t… I uh… I’m sorry…” you mumbled. “I— I wasn’t, oh no…”
“What are you apologizing for?” Loki asked, as he felt anxiety starting to bubble on the pit of his stomach.
“I— I’m sorry… I don’t know what came over me…”  you stuttered and stumbled over your words, “I w-wasn’t thinking… I just… I felt giddy and… No… no, no... I’m sorry…”
Loki felt his brain throbbing inside his skull as you kept sputtering apologizes. A million thoughts rushing over his mind every fraction of a second. Did the kiss meant you liked him? But if you liked him what were you apologizing for? Or did you like him but not enough? Were you aware of all the feelings you stirred in him? Was this a cruel joke?
Before he realized what his body was doing, he had already smashed his mouth onto yours once more.
He wasn’t sure why he did that. Maybe desire. Perhaps just the panic of thinking that could’ve been the last time he tasted something quite as ineffable as you ever again and he refused to give it up so soon. Or he could simply have gone mad. Whatever the reason, he just prayed you didn’t hate him after this.
But to his surprise, you kissed him back, and he felt once again that peculiar wave of peace and simultaneous thrill running through his veins. Now pleasantly complemented by your fingers running through his hair, making him turn into putty in your hands. This time the kiss lasted much longer than the first.
Not that it left Loki quite satisfied… yet.
“S-So… Do I take this as a good sign that you maybe, sort of, kinda like me too?” you asked timidly.
Loki could help but laugh at that.
“I will dare to say so” he rolled his eyes, unable to hide the smile on his face.
“And that we could do that thing again… t-the kissing?”
Norns, his heart was gonna beat out of his chest.
“I would like that” he smiled.
You pressed your lips against his and that rush of excitement ran through him once again. Loki felt your lips buzzing as he heard the muffled laughs through the kiss, it made him laugh as well.
“What’s so funny?” he chuckled.
“Nothing” you giggled, “I just feel your smile.”
“What?”
“Yeah, I feel your smile curled up in a smile.” You explained. “It feels… nice.”
His cheeks lit up and he just shook his head with a smile before diving in for another kiss.
You were right, you could feel the other’s smile when you kissed. How did Loki never notice a detail as simple as that? It felt so lovely. Even more with the little hum-like muffled laughs bubbling from your throat as you kissed. Hearing your happy nervous laughs through the kiss was the loveliest sound he had ever heard.

“Stay” he pleaded against your hair, “Give me one good reason”.
“I really…uhm” it wasn't the best moment to be at loss of words, but he tripped with all sorts of different sentences, not a single one made sense or was good enough to express how he felt.
He took way too long, in tears you sighed, putting your hands on his arms to force him release you, "I knew it" you murmured.
"Fuck" he cursed. Loki turned you around, closed the door with your back against it, and before you could protest he kissed you.
That kiss took you back to the beginning of the year. New year's eve, you just got back from a two week mission, that wasn't supposed to last two weeks.
You almost missed New year's eve, your plan was a night of sleep, not caring about the whole thing, because you were bruised and tired, because you just had to be undercover rescuing some dumb cop that got caught spying some mobsters.
Apparently it involved the avengers because the cop is a mutant of some sorts, so because of his dumb ass you were stuck in a dirty cell instead of celebrating.
And why you? Because no one else wanted to go, and you were late to the meeting. Stark had the laugh of his life.
Stark on the other hand, teared that plan to shreds with his whole event going on. There was no way to reach the dorms with the party in your way. Also with Natasha and Wanda being all over you to get you to stay and have fun.
You ended up staying because, what the hell, right? You needed the drink and to kick someone's ass for the horrible mission they threw you in.
After a lot of drinks, Thor saw pertinent introducing his brother to the team, seeing that no one would be within reason enough to refuse him, bold but smart move.
Loki, in your drunken eyes, was the most beautiful being you had ever seen, though, what came out of your mouth was simply humiliating.
You called him weird, because you believed aliens were supposed to be green skinned, he actually laughed and told you his actual skin color is blue, in his ever so sarcastically polite manner of course.
Since he was in a mean mood, your drunken ass had no other better idea than making him absolutely uncomfortable. "So if your skin is blue, then so is your tongue and your dick?" Everyone of course laughed at your dumb question, Thor on the other hand was a bit worried the temper of his brother might get him to set you on fire.
"You talk to me like that again, mortal, I dare you" his voice resonated through the room, making the other 'ooh' in response, like when a classmate is being called out by the teacher.
After a good laugh, you stood up, poked his leather covered chest and spoke, "Listen popsicle, I had a rough couple of weeks, okay? Threaten me again, and I'll throw you out that window" pointing the open window behind you. "You wouldn't dare" he lowered his head enough to be face to face with you, his lips very close to yours.
After a little snicker, you stole a kiss from him, "Behave handsome, and you'll never know" after a wink you sat again, taking a big sip out of your drink.
To say he was stunned was an understatement, he had his revenge though. After Wanda changed your liquor into water, pulling what you called a reverse Jesus, you weren't drunk enough for when Loki cornered you against a wall and kissed you.
"An eye for an eye, minx" he purred in your ear before vanishing in the air.
Funny, he swore you wouldn't remember, but when you reminded him of it the morning after, he spilled his coffee all over the kitchen counter.
--
"Please stay" he brought your mind back to the situation, "Ask the bitch you were with to satisfy you, she must be looking forward to fuck you" he chuckled at your spite, finding it both cute and alluring.
"Is that why you've been unbearable all week? You're jealous." His eyes shone with the power that emanated from within him, power that he knew he had over you.
"I'm not jealous." Your denial made him laugh, even more than he was already having fun with your anger. "Honey, if you wanted my attention so much, you should have told me." He closed the distance, raising one knee to separate your legs and have you closer. .
His goal must have been to devour you, because of the way his tongue tasted the inside of your mouth, a kiss that lit the candle of passion for him.
"Wait," you moved your face, breaking the kiss, searching for air more than anything. He waited a couple of seconds for you to say something else, that you didn't want him, that you hated him, with no response.
Your lack of words guided his hand to cup your neck, gently at first, then pulled roughly until he devoured your mouth again, biting, without regard, the soft flesh of your lips.
"Darling, I've realized how careless I am to leave your needs unattended, let me fix that" he lowered his head to your collarbone and from there to the base of your ear he licked like a wolf getting a taste of his prey. The sensation sent a shiver down your spine.
You wanted to resist, but his kisses, ever so skillful, his hands traveling from your ass to your hips, just enough to hug them and lift you up, automatically you hooked your legs behind his back, then your hands flew to hang on his shoulders, for support. It was all too much.
This is what he does to get you in motion, you knew it. He pulls you up and then you're so lost in him, there's not enough sense that can overthrow your hunger for his clever touch, the bites he likes to leave as he goes down on you, his smart silver tongue against your clit.
In one swift motion, he laid you down on his bed, still having at least one hand on your hips to keep you grounded.
He wanted to have you again, fast. You, were doomed and lost in his caresses, your hands were all over his back and hair, his own matching your movements, while his pelvis teased yours, thrust after thrust, both undergarments were soaking wet.
As time went by, your doubts dissipated, all that remained was the lust you felt for the evil-born god, who with his hands got rid of all excess clothing. He didn't pay any attention to your lingerie, much less to your wounds. His cock was no mystery to you, he was huge and veiny, perfect for touching all those internal areas that needed his attention, and boy was he good at using it.
His hips collided with yours with each thrust, the sound of skin touching and the wet sound filled the room, as did your moans and his.
Ecstasy was a word you wouldn't use for that moment, there was a knock at the door, and it turned out to be none other than the bitch who accompanied him to the party, which made Loki hit you much harder to divert your attention.
He pulled out of you for a few seconds, then pulled your body towards him, rotating your hips until you were on all fours. He grabbed your hair and he continued fucking you, the thrusts getting stronger and more accurate, hitting every single spot he knows make you week.
"You're mine, to touch, to have, only mine" he breathed against your ear, to which you couldn't respond, the heat clouded your senses, a warm feeling crawled up your core to your chest, a feeling you knew the meaning.
"I love the way you squeeze me when you cum" he said in between panted laughs, "Now, stay, please" you shook your head, "Please love" he then pulled out, grabbed his boxers and came inside them. Disgusted, he threw them on the sink in the bathroom and left the water running on it, until they were soaked, then turned it off and returned to your defeated, tired and ashamed being.
He reached for you as soon as he positioned by your side, but you rolled away from him, "Darling, my sweet love" his hand caressed yours, it was so warm, but of course your pride was stronger than your love for him, so you moved it away from his touch.
"You're still mad at me?" he sounded so surprised, so you laughed, sarcastically obviously. "All this time, you made me believe that you liked me enough".
"What do you mean? I like you," you didn't want to believe anything he said at that moment, "But you still go out with other women, you kiss me, you fuck me and I'm still not enough," again he was left without explanations, " Honey, that's not-" he tried, but he stopped himself, biting his tongue before saying something he'd regret.
"I don't care, you made me think you wanted more than just a quick fuck, but then it was slut after slut" you stood up, first putting on your bra, then your stockings, then your dress, your shoes were actually too much for the state of your legs, so you had them hanging
“Y/n” he called out to you, but you still hadn’t gotten everything out of your chest.
"I'm sick of this, Loki, I don’t wanna do this anymore" holding a tear behind while saying it, burned, but you had to either draw the line or break the cycle.
"But I do like you" that wasn't enough, he thought, still being at loss of proper thinking.
"That’s not the point, horns" he saw in your eyes, and on the way you were hugging your shoes close to your figure, a way to feel your words, deep inside him they resonated.
But before he could feel bad, "It's been a while since you called me that" he purred that sentence like a way to ease the tension.
But you huffed and rolled your eyes, making him lose some of the sanity he had left, "Norns woman, will you tell me what I did wrong?".
"Geez Loki, do I have to think for you too? You used to be so witty, maybe the whores sucked off your brain too"
“Right, stay mad at me for absolutely no reason then, that’s fine by me”
"No reason? I wasted a year of my life to a god, that resulted no different from a regular human asshole"
“Mind your words, mortal”
“Funny, I thought you liked my dirty mouth, horns”
“Just tell me what I can do”
“Figure it out”
As soon as he saw you leave the room, he jumped out of bed, dressed with a spell, and ran after you. The sounds of the party were getting louder, obviously the party continued, a simple fight was always part of Stark's meetings, so people saw it as something common.
“Y/n, you were right” he caught your arm, just before you stepped out to the living room. “I started feeling things for you, but, I couldn’t bring myself to fill in the role of partner you need, not because I didn’t wanted to, the reason is unknown to me” his doubt was the only reason you needed to know that he was still the same prince that blew up his own planet a year ago.
“Sounds void to me” your coldness gave his frozen heart frostbite, so full of truth nonetheless, “I know, but I can’t afford to lose you” it had to stop, you thought, “But you can’t bring yourself to love me properly” you slipped your hand from his touch, “I…We need to stop, I can’t with this”.
It's hard to let go of something you thought you loved but that was destroying you with every kiss and empty promise, but the feeling of freedom that invaded you after a month of detox was unmatched.
Finally, after a month, you stopped caring who he was dating or not, and also the gifts he left at your door, with letters begging for your forgiveness. "You're forgiven, Loki, I'm just not interested in having anything with someone who doesn't know how to take things with responsibility and commitment," much less with a prince who has always had everything on a silver platter and women who lined up to have sex with him.
Maybe he was much more than that, but you didn't know, he never let you see beyond his superficial way of being. You saw some vulnerability when he hugged you after sex and stayed with you until the next morning, and then he said goodbye with a kiss, but after so much pain, you started to doubt if he was really opening up to you, or it was only the reflection his exterior facade.
Either way, life goes on, and so did you.

Terra, Midgard, Earth. All are among the names of the small planet that apparently, you’ve been called too. You know of both your brothers’ fascination with the place and its inhabitants. Humans, you believe they’re called.
Personally you’ve never had any interaction with the terrene, but the stories brought back by Thor of his travels there and the amusing nature of humans happened to peak your interest.
Unfortunately you’ve never had the time or warrant to go, your brother’s might providing sufficient power to defend the tiny planet. Today though, luck just happens to be in your favor when you’re informed of his new quest: chasing knowledge of the infinity stones across the galaxy.
It’s a beautiful day on Asgard, as it always is, the sun shining happily upon your home and its people. A gentle breeze swishes the golden cape you adorn back and forth as you make your way towards the Bifrost where Heimdall is expecting you. The light glints pleasantly off of the light silver of your armor, the darker blues that accent it contrasting nicely.
There’s some mission waiting for you on some allied planet of Asgard. Negotiations, politics, diplomatic relations, etc. are all part of keeping the Nine Realms in order, and you’re Odin’s chosen one to handle it all. As the god of light, joy, and purity you radiate a natural beauty and charm that gives you the ability to, say, persuade any rivals of your father’s into benefiting the king.
In other words you’re his little errand girl tasked with mopping up any of the All-Father’s messes, of which there are plenty. He’s most definitely not well known for his graciousness or patience. It’s not ideal, show ponying around in order to maintain peace, but your job is necessary for the preservation of Asgard. Your work of amity and harmony has gained you a reputation as the golden girl of Asgard, a figurehead for beauty and allure, a juxtaposition to your brother Loki, and a parallel to Thor.
Might you occasionally take advantage of this draw? Perhaps, but where would be the fun of possessing this power of magnetism if you couldn’t use it to attract some attention? In this way you are also known as a bit of a player, as you would come to know it on Earth. This label doesn’t bother you much, in fact it only seems to increase your larger than life prestige, somehow making people even more enamored by you.
Case in point, as you stride into the domed Bifrost a guard comes crashing into you from around the corner, causing you both to fall to the ground. You’re quicker on your feet than the other lady, who, as you offer your hand to help her up, is quite beautiful. She has black hair that looks impossibly soft on top of her head and round brown eyes that stare up at you in surprise. You flash her a disarming grin as you help her up, one that works to fluster her as she looks down to brush imaginary dirt from her clothes.
“I’m sorry, I wasn’t watching where I was going,” she apologizes quickly, her face reddening from a mix of embarrassment and bashfulness.
“It’s quite alright,” you assure, nodding your head and offering a flirtatious smirk upon noticing how easily the woman blushes. “Just be more careful next time, I wouldn’t want anything to happen to that pretty face of yours.” A wink this time for good measure, sending her off after her friend down the bridge. You make a mental note to find the name of that guard later, and to pay her a visit when you do.
“When you’re done trying to seduce another guardswoman will you get over here,” a deep voice calls out from the center of the room.
“I’m just having a moment of fun before I go off to talk politics for the next few days. It’s boring, Heimdall. And I need something to look forward to when I get back.” A shrug accompanies your words as you cross the space toward him, the pair of daggers along your belt jostling as you move.
“Actually, you’re going to Midgard. Thor has requested your assistance with keeping watch over the people there. He’s departing soon and wants you to take over for him.”
At that you cock an eyebrow, this could prove to be at least mildly interesting. While the planet is far behind the majority of the galaxy technologically speaking, and its inhabitants are rather tiny, there has to be a reason for your brother’s fondness of the place; a hidden charm that you want to seek. “What are we waiting for then? I’ve got a planet to defend.”
He shakes his head at you as he opens the Bifrost, “Oh, and did I mention I’m dropping you into the middle of a fight?”
“What!?” You turn to him with an incredulous look on your face, barely glimpsing the devious smirk on his before you’re hurtling through the portal.
One
Unprepared for the landing, you crash into the ground in a flash of burning light, which thankfully clears some of the space around you as you fall onto your face. “Not cool Heimdall,” you mutter, shaking your head and getting on your feet.
You look around to see exactly where you are and what you’re dealing with. You’re in a city, one that looks terribly worse for wear as people run about, tripping over debris from the ruined buildings around you. A child stops and stares at you, and you realize how out of place you must look, standing alone in the middle of the war torn street, your shiny armor glaring harshly amidst the dust and smoke. Ash covers the sky, pulling a gray blanket over the atmosphere and you instantly miss the clear day back on Asgard.
Your little staring contest with the girl is broken when you spot something moving behind her, aiming to shoot her where she stands. “Watch out!” You yell as you lift your arm and allow a beam of white light to blast from your palm, melting a neat hole through the robot’s head.
“Are you okay?” You ask as you run up to the kid, putting your hands up to show you’re not going to hurt her. When all you receive is a blank look in return, you realize that wherever you are they don’t speak English, giving you no way to verbally communicate with her. “Um, just. Here.” You hold your hand out for her to take and together you run through the town, with you shooting down robots as you go.
There seems to be an endless amount of the droids, and you constantly have to maneuver the child behind you and out of harm’s way as you race down the street. It’s quieter over here though compared to where you’re headed, following the sound of gunfire as you’re eager to find your brother and figure out what is going on. Surely once you do he can explain everything and you can deposit this small human into someone else’s custody.
Eventually you spot a red cape, similar to the one you wear through the chaos. “Brother!” You shout and wave your hand. He’s fighting off a horde of the androids, throwing his hammer around and leaving nothing but broken parts in his wake. Fighting next to him is a group of humans, all wearing colorful costumes and suits. You spot a man with a huge circular shield, one flying around in a metal suit, and even a giant green monster. At your call they all stop for a second and look at you as you rush toward them, child still in tow.
“Ah, I see Heimdall got my message and sent you here. Good to see you sister,” Thor greets, grasping your forearm in acknowledgment.
“Thor, who is this?” The blonde beside him asks, chest heaving from the fight.
“Well this is my sister, Y/N Odinson.”
At the mention of your relation to your brother the man stills, eyeing you with wariness. You’re confused until you remember Loki’s attack on Midgard a few years ago. This must be one of Earth’s champions who had fought him off.
“I’m here to help,” you insist, pointing to the frightened child you’ve collected on the way. “Look, I've brought you one of your younglings.” A beaming smile overtakes your face as you transfer the girl over to the soldier’s care.
“I’m sorry, am I interrupting something?” A synthetic voice rings from the air above you, and you finally notice the giant robot hovering over the group. “I was kind of in the middle of my big villain speech,” he snarks, arms held out in annoyance.
Puzzling out that that’s what you’re here to stop, you turn to him, overconfidence flowing from your posture as you yell, “Hi, I don’t think we’ve met, I’m Y/N!” As you so kindly introduce yourself you launch white hot light from your hand, searing the metal of his chest.
“You Odinsons are bothering me,” he spits, flying toward you. You unleash two beams as he nears, starting to melt his body. But he’s too fast and you’ve barely begun to make a dent before he seizes your shoulders and throws you across the street.
The Avengers all watch in shock as you go flying through the air, crashing into a building a hundred yards away.
Among them is a brunette witch with magic of a scarlet shade.
Thor’s words mark the resuming of the battle. “She’ll be fine.”
And that was your first impression on Wanda Maximoff.
Two
After a couple weeks of living and training with the Avengers you quickly realize that somehow you’ve managed to find the one person impervious to your magical charm. And unfortunately for you, it’s also the one person here that you have any interest in pursuing.
It’s not like she dislikes you persay, just more like she only speaks to you only enough to be polite. It’s a ‘hello’ in the hallway or a passing nod when you happen to be in the same room. She pays you no mind and it confuses you, hell you’d have more luck with her brother.
The two of you get along scarily well, your flirtatious and carefree nature lining up perfectly. And because of the time you spend together, and his twin intuition with his sister, it doesn’t take him long to figure out your little crush on the witch.
He notices how your eyes linger on her in ways they don’t on anyone else and how you’re constantly trying to strike up a conversation with her. And he finds it absolutely hilarious that she’s able to brush off each of your attempts at gaining her attention like it’s nothing. Equally amusing is your confusion each time she walks off oblivious to your advances.
You have good reason to be confused though. In all of your encounters with well, anyone, you’d never met someone who wasn’t swayed by your beauty. You’d normally walk into a room and effortlessly capture the attention of everyone there, your charisma and ability to radiate joy making you supernaturally desirable.
Her own magic must be working to block yours out. And you did not find that anywhere near as amusing as the speedster beside you.
You’re both in the gym, you serve as a moving punching bag for him as he rushes at you with inhuman speed and tries to land blow after blow on you. The goal is to get you to the ground. A task that you know to be near impossible for the boy circling you. Your own ‘super’ Asgardian strength and speed combined with your invulnerability to all of his jabs makes you a pillar of stone, and him, a fly.
It’s rather amusing for you and a good exercise for him though as he rushes at you in an attempt to tackle you, but you sidestep the blur, causing him to smack into the wall. “Too slow, Maximoff,” you tease, playfully shaking your head at him as you mock chastise him.
As he gears up for another run at you, someone walking into the room catches your attention. It’s Wanda, and she looks as stunning as ever with her hair pulled back and workout clothes on. She notices you watching her and turns her enchanting green eyes on you, offering a small smile as she does.
Completely caught up in the girl’s gaze you don’t notice your training partner barreling directly into you. His momentum gained from his running start from across the room is enough to send you both flying across the room, tumbling over each other as you slide to a halt.
“Ha ha! I told you I’d get you! The mighty Asgardian has fallen,” he dramatically yells as he prances around your bewildered figure on the floor. That is until he notices his sister by the entrance of the gym. A devious smirk finds its way onto his face now as he looks between you and her, connecting the dots. “Ohhh.” And you can practically see his mind coming up with a new plan to expose your crush on the girl.
You’ve never been quicker to get up and rush over to the speedster, clapping a hand over his mouth right as it opens again. His hair is blown to the side from the force of the wind generated from your speeding by him.
“Pietro, I swear. Think very carefully about your next words,” you warn, desperation in your eyes as you stare him down.
He nods, miming zipping his lips as best he can with your hand in the way and you slowly remove it, trusting him to stay quiet.
You move to leave the room, and just as you’re  about to make your exit you hear him call from the other side of the room.
“Sestra! Y/N wants to ask you out!”
You whip around, mouth agape in astonishment. No he did not. She turns to you, a question in her eyes and your face heats up in embarrassment, a red color creeping up your neck all the way to your cheeks. You see the boy who was supposed to be your friend laughing out of the corner of your vision as you stand there completely caught off guard.
Having no idea what to do, you run out of the room, you’d deal with this later.
You’d left in such a hurry you hadn’t even noticed the girl watching you with an adoring look on her face. She’d never noticed how cute you were before.
Three
Another thing that greatly confuses you about Earth is its technology. It isn’t very advanced, but way overly complicated in your opinion. Especially when you just want to get something to eat. You find yourself in the cooking room, you can’t remember the name they have for it, and you’re rummaging through all of the drawers and cabinets, looking for something to fill your growling stomach.
You also have no idea what any of these foods are or how they’re meant to be prepared or what they taste like. Oh no. You finally open a cabinet and find a box labeled Pop-Tarts. Pietro had introduced you to these a few days ago and you found them delightfully sugary. The perfect snack.
You open them up and start to eat one, and it’s good, but it feels like something is missing. Oh that’s right, he had made them warm when he gave one to you before, but you can’t remember how he had done so. You glance around the room, eyes finding a number of strange machines that could possibly be the one he had used.
There’s two box-like ones inserted into the wall, one smaller than the other, and both with doors on them. You open both of them, completely unaware of the brunette watching you from across the room as you continue on your quest to heat your snack.
She stifles a laugh as you press all of the buttons on the microwave and the oven, accomplishing nothing with a half eaten Pop-Tart placed in between your teeth.
After Pietro’s little stunt, interactions between you and her had become both more awkward and more frequent. She wants to get to know you more now, but everytime she talks to you you freeze up and end up leaving the room.
You aren’t sure what’s wrong with you, and it frustrates you that your lifetime of flirting and charming half the galaxy seems to disappear whenever she’s near. Normally, you’d be able to enchant whoever you desire with ease, many people, men and women alike back on Asgard being able to testify to such. But whenever you’re confronted with talking to her, you find yourself stuck, all your usual tricks evaporating into the tense air around you. Then your opportunity passes and you curse your brain for stalling out on you again.
Wanda finds it endearing, your big dog attitude dissolving at the sight of her. She thinks it’s cute whenever your eyes go wide and you blush, clumsily leaving the room before she can properly speak to you. Those feelings only grow as she watches you fumble your way around the kitchen, inspecting each appliance before using it wrong, and then moving onto the next one. You remind her of a lost puppy, trying to navigate a new world.
She also can’t help but notice the tight shirt you’re wearing, and the way it hugs your back and shoulders nicely, showing off your lean, but muscled frame. You must be taking fashion advice from Steve.
It’s when you stick your fingers inside the toaster after plugging it in that she steps in. She knows it’s not likely you’d be able to get hurt, but she’d like to prevent you from getting electrocuted today. “Hey do you need some help?”
You startle, yanking your fingers out of the new metal box you’d found on the counter and turning to look at who had spoken. When you find an all too familiar face looking at you in amusement, her hair falling in long waves across her shoulders you grimace. Of course it had to be her giving witness to you stumbling around the cooking room like an idiot.
“No.” You try to play it cool, like you hadn’t just been wandering from device to device, playing with switches and pressing buttons at random. And you still haven’t figured out how to fix the box of pastries sitting on the counter.
She fixes you with a look that says “really” and you relent, sighing in defeat. “Your people’s food machines are being difficult.”
She laughs at your blaming the appliances and you can’t help but think that it’s the most wonderful sound you’ve ever heard; and you’re instantly addicted. You want to hear her laugh, to see her smile all the time, and you want to be the reason behind her joy.
“Here. Just take one and put it in the slot,” she explains, grabbing a Pop-Tart and slipping it into the toaster. “Set it to a low number,” she puts it on two, “and push this down.” You watch as the food drops down into the machine and the insides start to glow orange.
“Thank you,” you laugh nervously, slightly embarrassed that she had to help you with such a simple task.
“Anytime,” she replies, looking into your eyes and you think you’ve found what you’ve been searching for right there as you gaze into her soul.
And then the moment ends, your snack popping up from the toaster and breaking the silence around you.
Four
You’d heard about the infamous Tony Stark despite not having seen him since the battle against the giant robot named Ultron. From what the team told you he was kind of like one of the leaders of the team, funding the entire compound you live in and designing everyone’s suits and weapons. Kind of a big deal.
So that’s why you’re eager to impress him when he comes to visit the Compound one day.
Everyone is excited to see their teammate, who had stepped away from the superhero life for a while to take a much needed break. They’re also pleasantly surprised when he’s joined by Pepper, maybe he’d behave a little better with her to keep him in line.
You’re all waiting in the lounge area when the couple walks in, the billionaire asking with his usual arrogance, “Did you miss me? Of course you did.”
The team starts up the usual conversation, Tony asking how things are going without him and the others wanting to know civilian life is. Well as civilian as things can be with Iron Man that is.
Feeling a little out of place within the group who’d worked together for years, you hang out in the corner, not wanting to step away in fear of being rude. The tall redhead notices your quiet form standing awkwardly away from the conversation and moves to introduce herself. “Hi, I’m Pepper. I don’t believe we’ve met before,” she says with a smile, reaching out to shake your hand.
You take it, a grateful grin on your face as you tell her your name. Upon hearing your surname she lights up in recognition, “You’re Thor’s sister?”
“Yep, I’m an Odinson through and through,” you say, happy to talk about your family and your home. Although you hadn’t quite processed how much you miss your brother and how homesick you’ve become. You like Midgard, you do, but sometimes you want nothing more than to travel home for a few days. To be back among your own people.
The woman notices your distant look and asks, “Are you alright?”
“Yes, of course Lady Pepper,” you snap back to reality, hoping that you hadn’t offended her by spacing out. Worried that you had done something wrong you hurriedly add, “Let me just tell you that you are a babe.”
At your words the entire room goes silent, everyone turning to you in shock. The woman you had been talking to just stares at you, wide-eyed and confused, had you meant what you just said? Wanda looks at you too, a different expression painted onto her face. She knows you’re a flirt and have somewhat of an ego sometimes, but hitting on Pepper Potts? Surely you had to know how out of pocket that was. A third person stifles a snicker from his seat across the room. He may have taught you that word, but without the correct context, and you had just played right into his prank. As you take in the array of disbelief and incredulity on everyone’s faces you begin to think that maybe you had messed up.
“I’m sorry, what did you just call her?” Tony asks, clearly insulted by what you had just said. You back up into the wall as he advances on you, an accusing finger pointing at your face.
“Um,” you stutter, at a loss for words as you can feel the anger radiating from the man in front of you. “A babe?”
“Yea, no. That’s not going to fly mini Thor.”
“I’m sorry Son of Stark, but I was told that was what you call beautiful women here,” you explain. “I'm starting to get the feeling that that’s not correct,” you grimace, letting him know it was an accident, whatever you had just called her.
He shakes his head now in exasperation and turns toward the group watching the exchange, allowing you to relax against the wall. “Alright, who was teaching Luke Skywalker incorrect slang?” You’d earned the nickname after he noticed your powers affect things much like a lightsaber, and you just kind of gave off those vibes.
He studies the crowd of faces around the room, picking out the one that looks more amused by the interaction than anything else. “Wilson. It was you wasn’t it?”
At being found out he doesn’t bother to hide his grin anymore, admitting to teaching you that calling someone ‘babe’ was just an innocent way to compliment a woman’s appearance. “Yea, but you can’t tell me that that wasn’t funny. Come on!”
Tony does not seem entertained, although it’s exactly the kind of joke he’d pull on someone else without blinking twice. He’s just not happy that he’s the one being played this time.
You look down in embarrassment, Wanda’s sympathetic eyes on you the entire time.
Five
Apparently, the time has been long overdue for a famous Stark party and the man himself has invited all of you to what has now been reverted back to Stark tower for a ‘small get-together’.
As you walk in, the endless chatter from the huge crowd of people, the clink of dozens of glasses, and the music being boomed from speakers along the walls slaps you in the face.
Small get-together my ass.
It doesn’t matter much either way to you though, the parties back on Asgard could easily reach volumes double this, and you’d been navigating the social world for centuries.
Your original plans have to do with Wanda by your side as you converse with the many humans who had been eagerly waiting for the arrival of the famed Avengers, but those are dashed when you see her brother sidle up protectively against her, and steer her away from the bulk of the crowd. That alone wasn’t going to stop you from still joining them, but as you turn to follow after the pair, a different arm seizes yours and begins to drag you into the sea of people.
You pivot to see who was responsible for your abrupt change in direction, your eyes settling on the man of the hour. The faint scent of alcohol and overwhelming stench of expensive cologne hits your nose as he looks at you. “Did you really think I’d just let you slink off into the corner and hide the entire night? No, no. I promised a bunch of lovely people they would be able to meet our newest recruit tonight, and I do not intend to let them down. Maybe if you’re lucky you can leave here tonight with one, or two I don’t discriminate.” He sends you a wink with that last comment and based on his animated attitude and wild gesturing you take it he’s already had a fair amount to drink.
Your dress shoes clap along the floor as you’re pulled into the throng, immediately being swarmed by a mob of overeager mortals. You scowl at the host of the party as he slips away, mouthing ‘good luck’ as he disappears.
“Is it true that you’re Thor’s younger sister?”
“What kind of powers do you have?”
“Tell us about Asgard! Is everyone there ultra good looking, or does it just run in the family?”
You quickly tire of the incessant line of questions, it seemed a lot of these people are reporters, or just fans, or maybe both. All of them are talking at you more than talking to you though, and it bothers you greatly, so you run off, telling them you have to go to the restroom.
You head there anyhow, finding a moment of peace as you stand back away from the roar of the party. Your head settles in your hand as you close your eyes and methodically massage your temples. You’re supposed to be impervious to headaches, but your mind feels seconds away from exploding.
Footsteps alert you to someone nearing your makeshift sanctuary and you hurriedly spin around to face the sinks and roll up your sleeves, pumping your hand full of soap right as the door opens. You don’t bother to see who it is as you wash your hands, mentally preparing for going back out there and facing the crowd.
You make your way over to the bar where a certain redhead is mixing drinks, dodging everyone who tries to grab your attention on the way. You let out a huff as you sit down, and noticing your exasperated state she clears the counter of any other stragglers.
“Leave it to Stark to throw a party tumultuous enough to tire a mighty Asgardian.” She gestures out to the huge area packed with people and you shake your head, the mere thought of going back out there stressing you out.
“I wish I could get drunk, but I’m afraid your alcohol is nowhere near strong enough to affect me.” You throw a wistful glance toward the rows of bottles behind Natasha as a knowing smirk spreads across her face.
“Well Odinson, you just might be in luck.” You watch her, wondering why she has to be so damn mysterious all the time as she ducks under the counter, searching for something. She reappears, a flask in hand. It looks completely unassuming, its contents probably nothing you couldn’t find in one of the many bottles in Stark’s collection. She pushes it toward you now and you take it, unscrewing the cap and taking a cautious whiff. “You’re welcome by the way. I had to hide that so the guys wouldn’t kill themselves trying to drink it.”
You smile when you realize what it is. Asgardian ale. Your brother must have brought some over last time he was here, and now you’re going to be stealing the leftovers. “Thank you Natasha. You have just saved my night,” you tell her as you take a big swig from the bottle.
“No problem, kid.” She leans back, taking a sip from her colorful drink as well, apparently you aren’t the only one who needs a little help tolerating the evening.
“I’m older than you, you know,” you insist, a small frown warping your features as you raise your flask in her direction.
“You look and act like a college student,” she deadpans, which only serves to deepen your frown.
Instead of arguing back your eyes sweep the room, on the lookout for someone in particular. “Hey, have you seen Wanda?”
Cracking a slight smile at your antics, which only prove her previous point, she shrugs, nonchalantly moving over to the other side of the bar where Maria Hill waits.
“Hold on, hold on.” You get up from the barstool, staring after her, unnecessarily mysterious, you swear.
“Come on Natasha, don’t leave the poor girl hanging,” the well-dressed SHIELD agent remarks upon seeing your pleading face and the sly smirk on her girlfriend’s.
Finally relenting, she gestures to a door up on the second level of the space. “I think I saw your crush head out to the balcony a few minutes ago.”
“I’m not a kid,” you mutter as you start to leave the bar, snatching the flask from the counter on the way. You’re halfway to the staircase when the redhead’s words dawn on you. “And she’s not my crush!”
You catch the pair laughing to each other before jogging up the stairs, eager to see your friend.
You push the door open, relieved to see that she really is out here, and that the former spy hadn’t tricked you for her own amusement.
She looks gorgeous, the pale moonlight highlighting her face as she stares up at the sky, a beer bottle clutched in one hand.
“You’re late.”
“Yea I know, believe it or not I’ve been trying to get to you all night, but Stark, he is smooth.” The cool breeze hits your face, and until now you hadn’t realized how warm it had been inside the tower. The night air is a welcome relief after being surrounded by way too many people for the last two hours.
“Well I hope you don’t mean he’s been flirting with you.” She raises a skeptical eyebrow at your choice of an excuse.
“No! No. Of course not. He just kept pushing me to talk to person after person, and I couldn’t catch a break.”
“Well I wouldn’t blame him, you look very dashing tonight Stargirl, purple is definitely your color.” A blush rises along your cheeks so you take another gulp from your drink, hiding your face behind the container. You'd been receiving compliments all night long, yet somehow hers is the first one that feels real, that makes you want to give her a million in return.
“Thank you, Wanda. I love your dress. The color, it compliments your eyes quite well.” You’ve moved to mirror her position now, arms resting against the railing as you both peer down at the busy city below, a view neither of you are used to.
“You know when I was little, I used to dream of a life in America. And now I’m here, and it still doesn’t feel real.” She doesn’t know where the admittance comes from, just that it’s a feeling she needed to get off of her chest, and that you’re easy to talk to, she feels comfortable here with you.
You nod your head, eyes still scanning the view before you; the cars racing down the street, couples strolling past block after block, the twinkle of lights from a thousand windows. “Do you miss your home?”
She sighs, but it lacks any heaviness or malice, it’s simply an exaggerated exhale as she thinks about her answer. “Sokovia… it wasn’t a place without troubles. In fact, it probably had more trouble than most places, especially when I was growing up.”
You watch her face as she speaks, how it grows sadder as she thinks more about her old home. You want to hug her, as if that would shield her from the forlorn memories, but you feel as if that gesture would be inappropriate now, so you settle for just being here for her. To listen as she explores her complicated feelings.
“But I do miss it, my parents mostly. How we managed to make the best of our situation, and how much love they had for me and Pietro.” Tears shine against her eyes now, threatening to create a stream down her face. As soon as the first one falls, she quickly wipes it away, shaking her head as if to clear the grief from her mind and taking a sip from her beer. “Enough about my home. Do you miss yours?”
The question takes you aback, even when it shouldn’t. You’d been talking about her home, it only makes sense that she’d ask you about yours. You’d just been so focused on how Wanda felt that you’d neglected your own feelings.
“Yea I miss it. I do.” When confronted with the task of articulating those feelings however, your mind drew a blank. You heave a sigh, realizing there’s a lot you have to unpack about Asgard, your family, your path in life. “It’s complicated.” With another swig from your flask you notice the slight buzz from the alcohol starting to kick in.
“I get it. I’m here to listen whenever you figure it out though.” Of course she’d be understanding about this. Your mind tracks back to hugging her again as her green gaze settles on you. Scratch that, you want to kiss her.
The door banging open startles the two of you and you turn to see the Falcon grinning at you from the entryway. “Come on lovebirds, we need you for a round of pool.”
“We’ll be right in, Sam.” The girl answers for the both of you while you silently curse him for interrupting your moment. She saunters over to the door, looking back at you over her shoulder as she heads inside. “Come on, it'll be fun.”
You make your way over to where the Avengers are crowded around a green table with brightly colored balls laid out neatly in a triangle at one end. You’re pleased to note that the rest of Stark’s guests have cleared out by this hour, only leaving your small group.
“I heard we have been invited to play this game of pool,” you spread your arms out wide as you finish trotting up the stairs, tripping over the last one. You’d forgotten how strong that ale was, too long spent away from drinking with your brother. You recover before face planting though, striding up to the table with a bolstered confidence.
You’re handed a long stick and are told to use it to hit the white ball into the huddle of colorful ones. Easy, you think, going over to line up a shot. Wanda follows behind you, taking up a spot standing next to you as she watches you concentrate on aiming the ball.
Just as you’re about to strike the stick into the ball, she drapes an arm around your waist. The mindless act of affection startles you, the contact sending a giddy jolt through your body, causing you to overshoot your hit.
Overshoot might be a bit of an understatement, as you watch the white ball crash into the rest, sending all of them flying off the table in different directions. You have no idea how this game works, but you’re pretty sure that was not the goal.
The laughter flowing from the girl next to you confirms this, embarrassment flooding your senses as you realize the slip up had come from her closeness to you. The others seem to recognize this as well, joining in on making fun of your reaction to being held by the girl you obviously have feelings for.
The only one who seems oblivious as to what had caused your mistake is the person responsible for it.
“Oops.”
Six
A number of weeks go by as you and Wanda continue to skirt the line between friendship and something more. Locked gazes are held just a little too long, she falls asleep on your chest as you watch an unhealthy amount of old sitcoms, both of you glance at each other’s lips when you think the other isn’t not looking.
Eventually you’re fed up with dancing around the question, of avoiding taking the next step out of fear of rejection. You’re going to ask her out, formally, and you know just how to do it.
You take a motorcycle out to the city, plans of visiting Wanda’s favorite coffee shop and grabbing her a drink and a pastry at the front of your mind.
The weather is dull, heavy clouds crowding out the sun and threatening to open up and give way to a nasty storm. You refuse to let the weather interfere with your day though, and besides, what could be better than some comfort food on a day like this.
You smile up at the sky as it starts to sprinkle, imagining that it’s just your brother encouraging you on your mission to romance the girl you think you just might be in love with.
You pull up to the quaint store and cut the engine, swinging your leg up and over as you dismount your bike.
A bell rings as you enter, the strong scent of coffee hitting your nose. You inhale deeply, letting the aroma envelop your senses as you look around the calmly lit room.
You stride up to the counter, the noise of idle chatter backing you up as you recall the name of the coffee order Wanda is most fond of. Too lost in your search of the menu above you you don’t notice the barista that moves to greet you and take your order. Whenever you stop by while she’s working she makes it her mission to incessantly flirt with you, despite your obvious disinterest and outright discomfort in her doing so.
You finally find what sounds like the right name of the brew the witch likes and you look across the woman poised to not only make your coffee, but also to try her hand again at asking you out.
“Hey Y/N!” She chirps. yeah, she knows your name.
“Hi, can I get two grande mochas please? Oh and two chocolate chip cookies?” You try to keep your voice as professional as possible and leave her no room to start an uncomfortable conversation with you.
“Of course, anything for you.” You nod your head and only offer a tight smile in acknowledgment, turning to go wait a ways back when you hear her call you over. “Hey, can you come back over here? I just need you to sign the receipt.”
You trudge back over, taking a hand out of your pocket and setting it mindlessly on the counter, waiting for her to hand you a pen and the little slip of paper. Instead of giving you a receipt, she grabs your hand harshly, not at all like when Wanda takes it, you note, and the abruptness of her actions startles you. You stare at her, about to ask what’s going on when you notice she’s writing something on your palm. “Hey!” You yank your arm back, but not before she’s finished scribbling down a series of numbers in pen.
“My number,” she beams at you, a hint of crazy in her eyes as she clarifies. “Call me, pretty girl.”
All of a sudden a clap of thunder booms from outside, causing you to look out the window to see rain falling in heavy sheets now, just as you had predicted before. Maybe taking the motorcycle wasn’t such a great idea. Something else catches your eyes though when a flash of lightning streaks through the sky, a figure stomping angrily away.
It couldn’t be. No. It was most definitely the girl you had been planning to ask out tonight, and she had obviously just seen your entire incriminating interaction with the barista.
Shit. You have to explain to her that it wasn’t what it looked like from her position outside the shop.
You race outside, your clothes becoming soaked through in seconds as you shout. “Wanda, wait!”
She pauses for the slightest of seconds before continuing on towards the car she had taken, hurt and embarrassment flooding her heart. You catch up to her before she can get in, imploring her to look at you through the water dripping from her face, you’re not sure if it’s from the rain or her tears.
She glares at you, not giving you a chance to defend yourself before she jumps on you. “What’s going on? Tell me you weren’t just in there letting that girl give you her number, flirting with her!”
She looks so small and sad standing there, drenched to the bone, shivering from the cold, and you take a step toward her, instinctively wanting to wrap her in your arms and keep her warm. She steps back in retaliation as you do, so instead you open your mouth to speak, but she cuts you off, continuing her verbal assault. “I knew you were a princess back on Asgard. That you probably had people throwing themselves at you left and right.” She’s moved toward you now, close enough to give you a shove with her next words.
“I can’t believe I fell for your stupid little girl next door act, Y/N!” You stumble back in surprise as she pushes your chest, shoes slipping on the slick pavement beneath your feet. “Did you get bored playing with just one person? Was I not enough? I bet you missed all of the attention, so you snuck out here to reclaim that high.”
She finally finishes unleashing her piece, frustration lacing her bout of yelling, the rumble of the storm providing a dramatic undercurrent. Water droplets roll down the back of your exposed neck, sending shivers down your spine as you shake out your hair, sending an extra spray of water into the fray.
“Wanda, no,” you catch her hand as she turns away from you, stopping your speech until she looks back at you. “I tried to leave the Compound without you noticing because I wanted to surprise you. I know how much you like this place.” A flash of lightning illuminates both of your faces, revealing the desperation on yours and the distraught expression she wears.
“Then that girl in there… she messed it all up.” A defeated sigh escapes your lips as you shove your hands in your jacket pockets, and looking down, you discover your white t-shirt has totally soaked through, making it see through. Something that would certainly work to undermine your next point. “The truth is I haven’t missed who I was back on Asgard. I think I was hiding behind my powers, using the easy pleasure to distract myself from reality.” The confession works to stun the girl in front of you, and it even takes you aback.
“I could never tell when anyone was being honest with me, if they liked me because of me or because my powers were always subconsciously drawing them in. It was exhausting so I stopped trying to find something real.” You have tears in your eyes now too as you meet Wanda’s somber ones. You stop your anxious pacing for a second as you step closer to her, needing her to hear what you have to say next. “I didn’t think I’d ever find something real… until I met you. Wanda I want you, not that stupid barista, not anyone else in the entire universe. Because you’re beautiful and amazing and you terrify me but in the best way and-.”
She cuts off your nervous rambling and wild gesturing as she grabs the collar of your leather jacket and pulls you close, smashing your lips together. She tastes even sweeter than you had imagined, and you tangle your fingers in her hair as they come to rest on the sides of her face. You both savor in the tenderness of the kiss, even if it was rushed and filled with a million unsaid emotions.
Eventually you pull back for air, cheeks flushed and chest heaving as you stare at each other, breathless. The rain continues to patter down on your unguarded silhouettes as she gently takes your hand and rests her forehead against your own.
“I want you too.”
One
You race about the Compound, grabbing various items here and there, making sure that everything is set up to perfection.
Wanda is due back from her busy day in the city (thank you Pietro) any minute now, you’ve planned the perfect first date night.
You hear the door to the main entrance of the Compound open and you sprint downstairs, making it just in time to greet the returning siblings.
“Y/N!” The girl you’ve been waiting for almost trips over her own feet in her haste to get to you. “This fool has been running me around town all day. I am exhausted. And now you’re going to watch sitcoms with me.” She takes your hand and starts to drag you upstairs, and you let her. As you round the corner, you see Pietro send you a wink before you’re whisked away.
“Wanda this way.” You tug on her arm, pulling her past your room that she’s practically made hers as well with all the time she spends with you.
“Wait.” She slips her wrist from your grasp, standing stubbornly by the door. “We’re going to lay down and watch Dick Van Dyke and then you’re going to get me dinner.” Her arms are crossed and she looks at you defiantly, motioning toward the room.
You have other plans though, and a mischievous grin spreads across your face as you slowly walk backwards towards the end of the hall. “Trust me, I’ve got something much better planned.” You gesture with your arm in a signal for her to follow you and turn your back to her, silently telling her you’re leaving either way.
Intrigued by the eager look in your eyes and the energy that has you almost bouncing off the walls, she abandons her original plan in favor of following you. You open the door to the stairwell, sparing one sneaky glance back just to make sure she’s coming. When you note her figure making her way down the hall, you climb the steps, not stopping until you reach the roof.
Before you head outside you wait for her to catch up, accidentally getting way ahead of her in your haste to lead her up here.
“What are you doing?” Her voice echoes around the stairwell as curiosity shines through her expression.
Choosing to ignore her question, you send one back her way. “Are you ready for the most romantic night of your life, Wanda Maximoff?” A knowing smile and a pair of raised eyebrows crosses your face as you lean against the door, your hand on the handle in anticipation.
Without giving her the chance to answer, you fling it open, revealing your little setup. A picnic blanket lays flat on the ground, enough food to feed much more than two people lined meticulously around its edges. It’s almost completely dark out, the sun having conveniently set thirty minutes before, the only light coming from the soft glow of the lanterns that line the perimeter of the roof.
Beyond the Compound lies absolutely nothing except the surrounding nature. That’s one giant perk of being stationed in the middle of nowhere, any light or excess noise from the city fails to reach you, always leaving you with peace and quiet whenever you need a moment. The night sky is free to shine out here, the sea of stars stretching out farther than the eye can see uncontested by the touch of humanity. That’s why you picked this spot, the beauty of the landscape reminding you of the girl before you, and the secluded space would allow you to truly enjoy your night without interruption.
You step aside so she can take it in, watching her eyes go wide at your gesture. The silence is stifling, insecurity warping your mind as a hint of a smile appears on her lips. “Do you like it? I wasn’t sure how people here usually court others, but I saw this on TV once and I thought it was cute and then I remembered how you told me that one time about how you used to love studying the stars when you were younger and, well I thought this could be a nice way to spend the night.”
She waits patiently for you to finish your long-winded speech, unable to stifle the small laugh that bubbles up from her chest.
“What?” Dumbfounded, you cock your head, wondering what she found so funny.
“Nothing, you’re just cute when you’re nervous,” she casually remarks as she brushes past you and further onto the roof.
You stumble after her, smoothing out your shirt and fixing your hair as you do. “What? Me? I’m not nervous. No, not at all.”
You eye her carefully as she takes in your little setup. “You’ve really outdone yourself this time, Odinson.” She sends a coy smile your way and you reach out to take her hands in yours, a dopey grin lighting up your face.
“You really think so?”
“I know so.”
And with that she kisses you right there under the moonlit sky, the stars the only witnesses to the small display of affection. The kiss is gentle and filled with passion, the beginning of a new journey you’re about to embark on with the girl you’d give everything to.
The airiness of her perfume mixes perfectly with yours as you break apart, staring with a sickening amount of love and admiration into each other’s eyes.
Yeah, you could get used to life on Earth.

Your Own Tickle Monster
Tumblr media
Rating: PG
Language: None, SFW
No violence or sexual content, but talks of depression and anxiety. (Since I have both)
I tried getting a different picture but this one popped up so I think I’ll use it. It conveys that “I’m going to get you,” and “you’re in trouble now,” look.
Plot: you deal with depression and anxiety and so your husband, Loki is always ready with a plan to ease you into laughter and happiness. Especially with one specific childhood monster in mind.
Depression. Anxiety. Two words you never wanted to hear. This was your diagnosis and it tore you apart. At least now you knew what it was. This was a few years back and you’ve now learned to deal with it. Especially because your husband, Loki always made it his mission to make you smile and laugh.
This is how it went. Day in and day out but Loki wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. He hated seeing you like this. Your mind constantly at war with you. He wanted to see you happy and smiling and of course, laughing. Most days you were okay, but when things didn’t seem to go right this causing a domino effect, he’d make an extra effort to comfort you. He also knew you were a kid at heart the day he met you. You were friends with the Avengers so you stopped by every so often after work to say “hi” to whomever was at the compound. You of course knew not everyone would be home at the same time but within days, everyone had some time off and time to meet you. You were mainly friends with Wanda, but over time, you got to know the rest of the crew and enjoyed having them around. This is where you also met Loki; the sharp tongued, quiet, handsome brother of Thor who was also an Avenger. Loki was on recovery from being a “bad guy” and helped the Avengers with missions, etc.
You didn’t think he was such a bad guy at all, or that he could have been. He was witty, polite and took an extra liking in you in particular. He noticed over time at you, this happy go lucky person wasn’t so happy anymore. The others knew but Loki had yet to learn of your illness and how to help deal with it. They only saw you during the day, as you lived in your own apartment, but slowly, everyone started noticing the signs that something was wrong. They told Loki of it but he’d never really seen you before sad or upset when at the compound. You’d always say, “I’m fine,” and he took you at your word each time. Even when you slunk away to your room right after dinner and never really involved yourself in movie or game nights. You were just too exhausted to even care.
You hid it and hid it well, but everyone could still tell when you were down. You weren’t as energetic and sassy as you usually were and Loki was going to get to the bottom of it. Everyone else tried to make her mood better but it seemed like only Loki could wipe those dark clouds away. One night at your apartment, Loki noticed you once again slipping off to be alone in your shared room. He wanted to help his bride but in a different, childlike way. As you entered your room, you were unaware that the god was following you and he silently slipped inside undetected. “ Why can’t I just keep it together?” you thought to yourself. “I know they love me but I feel like such a burden to all of them.” This again, broke Loki’s heart as he stood there invisible to your eyes as he watched you cry.
Loki was a mind reader among many other things, but he wasn’t going to look into your mind without your permission. He wasn’t like that anymore. He wanted to respect people before searching their minds. Especially his wife. So, with one swipe of green magic, he appeared in your room but not so much as to scare the life out of you. No. He wouldn’t do that. Especially if you weren’t feeling up to being scared out of your mind. Your head was down in a pillow, your hands underneath it holding it to your face. “Loki. I know you’re in here. I can hear you breathing. And yes. I know you want to search my mind to help me feel better.” “ But?” he asked somewhat confused. “You may not want to witness things I’ve gone through. Terrible, dark things inside my own mind.” He came and sat next to you on the bed. “I don’t want to push, I just want to help you feel better if I can. I only need an idea of what can make you smile again, my dear.” You looked up at him, tear stained face from crying and having your face against the pillow and thought for a minute. Then, a small smile shown on your face.
“Well, there is this one thing my parents used to do to get me out of my dark space. It was only a few years ago but it helped. It’s kind of silly. I don’t know if I should be telling the god of freaking Mischief this.” Oh, this had to be good if you were nervous to tell him. It just had to be. Loki smiled devilishly. “Go on, love. Tell me.” You got up and sat next to him as your heart beat faster by the second. “Well,” you began cautiously, not knowing how to explain it. “When I fall into my dark space, my parents would….Oh my gosh! I can’t say it!” Your face blushed and a bigger smile graced your lips as you put your head on his shoulder. “Come on, darling. It can’t be that bad.” “But it is” you said muffled by his sleeve. “Come on. Tell your husband what you do to feel better. I have to know now since you’re blushing.” You took in a big breath and let it out, then you were silent. “I can’t hear you,” he said nudging you playfully. “My parents used to play ‘Tickle Monster’ with me to get me to laugh and forget about my depression and anxiety.” BINGO! YATZEE! This was the answer Loki was looking for and his devilish eyes popped open in surprise at your answer. He promised her he hadn’t looked into your mind and that his reaction was genuine. “Oh, really?…So my sweet and quiet (y/n) is ticklish. Hmm….Good to know. I think I’m going to use that information to make you feel better now. I can’t believe I didn’t know that until just now. You’re in big trouble, love.”
You looked up t him again and smiled shyly. “See! I knew I shouldn’t have told you, Loki! Hahaha!” He paused in playful shock. “Was that a laugh, love?” You covered your mouth. “No!” you said under your hand. Loki leaned over and brought your forehead to his. “Oh, I believe it was! You know…I think it’s time you see this ‘Tickle Monster’ again. What exactly did it look like?” “Hehe! It looked like a normal person so it could trick people into trusting it.” Loki shook his head in understanding “I see. Well. Who better to play this monster than someone who naturally deceives people.” You giggled again. “You said it. Not mehehe!” The next moment everything went quiet. Loki turned away from you in order to “transform “ into the monster. A few more silent seconds went by, then you heard it. A low deep growl came from Loki’s chest.
“Uh-oh…Did I just awaken the ‘Tickle Monster?’ “ He growled again as he slowly crept back towards you on the bed. “Grrr….Yesss”, he hissed. “Oh, I’m so scared! Someone save me!” “Hahaha! No one can save you now, darling! You’re mine now!” With that, he straddled your waist and pressed your hands to the bed, making them stick. You tried with all your might to squirm out of his grasp but Loki’s magic was too strong. “Nahahoooo!” you yelped with excitement. “Your mouth says ‘no’ but your mind says ‘yes!’” You giggled even harder as his fingers went to work, tickling every inch of skin he could reach. He scribbled over your belly and under your arms as you screamed even louder as the feeling extended from your head to your toes. The shock lit up your body as you wriggled in his grasp. You felt euphoric as he continued tormenting you and you didn’t want it to end. You felt happy for the first time in a long time and you wanted to savor it. However, Loki could see you were going limp and stopped tickling you. “How are you feeling now, my love?” You smiled back and kissed him. “Much better. Thank you my prince.” You spent the rest of the day cuddling and tickling each other until nightfall. That night, you and Loki slept soundly. Exhausted from the events of the day. He felt so in love with you as you felt the same. He loved you and would do anything for you. You were happy you’d finally found someone like Loki who helped you deal with the darkest of days. You both finally fell into a deep sleep and held each other through the night. Life was sweet.

I think it's about time I talk about that Star Wars AU I might write one day if I have time & energy. Yes it involves Lokius.
Loki and Sylvie are (force sensitive) twins that were separated at birth in order to protect them from a powerful force user that turned to the dark side (their father Laufey? Thanos? Kang?).
Sylvie was sent on Tatooine (to be raised by some distant family?) while Loki was left in the care of Senators/Royalties Odin and Frigga of Alderaan (or maybe I should call it Asgard?) who raised him alongside their biologic son Thor.
As they grow older, a rivalry sets up between Thor and Loki, each of them resenting the other's lifechoices.
As the Empire becomes stronger, threatening the Republic, Thor decides to leave his homeworld and officially join the resistance, which Loki think is careless and stupid (as a prince, Thor makes a target of choice, let alone his actions draw too much attention on his family, discrediting their political engagement).
Following his parents' (well mostly Frigga's) steps, Loki enters the political sphere, fighting the Empire using diplomacy... and a good deal of espionnage.
That's how, during a "strictly diplomatic mission", Loki's ship is attacked by the Empire and is taken prisoner - but not before he managed to send a droid away with the plans of the Empire's new superweapon and the instruction to bring those to an ally of the resistance Loki knows lives on a nearby planet (aka Heimdall, ermit, former jedi and friend of Loki's parents).
The droid (part of me wants it to be Miss Minutes but I'm not sure...) lands on Tatooine and meets Sylvie who agrees to help it find Heimdall but insists on leaving the planet with them (she sees it as her chance to let her current life behind and find more about her origins).
To leave a planet, one needs a ship. Sylvie, Heimdall and the droid go looking for someone who accepts to take them to Alderaan (to deliver the weapons' plans to Odin and Frigga). Enters Mobius Mobius Mobius.
Mobius is a pilot/smuggler who used to work for the TVA (Transporters of Valuable Artefacts? lol Idk?? anyway, an organisation that specialises in (illegal) trading (and yes, Ravonna is the boss;)). Only, one day, he realised the TVA was dealing with the Empire (selling weapons maybe?) and he could not stand with that. He left, thus breaking his contract, ending with a lot of debts and a price on his head, which explains why is quite eager to leave Tatooine himself...
Meanwhile, Loki is interrogated on board the Empire's Death Star. He his given a choice: either he talks or his home planet Alderaan is destroyed. So, he does talk, but the Empire destroys Alderaan nonetheless, making him witness it.
When Mobius and his passengers reach Alderaan, the planet is gone...and they finally agree to attempt a rescue mission to deliver prince Loki.
As it happens, Thor just heard about what happened and decided to go free his brother as well (both rescue missions collide of course, and it takes them some misunderstanding to understand they're all on the same side!)
What comes next is (among other things) a lot a Loki angst, Lokius middle-burn and probably rocket & Groot as Forest Moon of Andor's inhabitants.
...and this is it for now, but feel free to add your thoughts and inputs 😊

Bizarre Love Triangle by panickyintheuk
Once the idea was in his head, he’d started picking up on all kinds of things, like the way Stark talked about Iron Man with such affection, and seemed to share so many of his mannerisms, and was constantly working on ways of improving the suit. It was obvious.

To Me by Asidian
On the anniversary of Loki's birth, a feast is held in Father's hall. This, he thinks, is as it should be: this is as it is every year, with lively music on the harp, with men and women dancing, with all his favorite foods. Except this year the foods are not the ones he prefers, after all, but those favored by his brother. And the music is not harp music but the blaring of horns. And when Father calls attention to the assembled throng to give a speech for the occasion, he does not mention Loki at all.
He proclaims the meal in honor of Thor's prowess as a warrior. He announces that the firstborn prince has bested his training instructor this day.
The boar meat, spicy and rich on Loki's tongue, is suddenly tasteless. He puts his fork down amidst the wave of applause that floods the hall; he watches as his brother, golden and triumphant, stands to accept his congratulations. The child thinks, perhaps, that this is some ruse. His family, too, scold him for his pranks, and perhaps they have decided to show him what it is like to be on the receiving end.
But the jest, if jest it is, grows long.

Draco snorted. “I’m not reduced to penury. I want something considerably beyond money, and I rather think you’re the only one can give it to me.”

Frozen Hearts
Paring: Loki x reader (eventually)
Warnings: swearing, teasing, sexual innuendos, nothing too bad to start
Summary: your an avenger, one of earth hero's, confident in who you are and what you want, until a God started getting under your skin.
*avengers au, Loki and Thor make it back to earth after ragnarok, and are living in stark tower.
Part 1-
====================================
Tumblr media
You had joined the avengers a couple years ago, shortly after the attack on New York, being recruited by none other then black widow. You had been on your own for most of your life, being left with a foster family you took off, deciding the only person you could rely on was yourself. She had seen you one day when you a few guys decided it would be fun to harass you. She was coming over to help you when she saw you take down all three by yourself. She came over, saying you had potential and asked you to join. "Why not." You had said looking at her.
You kept to yourself mostly, not really wanting to make friends, but slowly they started to grow on you. Everytime bucky and sam got In a fight you couldn't help laugh, or everytime Steve irritated Tony, you couldn't help watch the madness unfold on the occasion you made it down to the lab. That's where you had met Matt, he was a lab tech that worked with Bruce and Tony. A year into you being at the tower he had asked you out. You had told him no a few times, not wanting to get that close with anyone but he was persistent. Always sending you flowers, complimenting you, trying to make small talk. you decided to give him a shot, he was nice, and pretty cute. Tall and on the thinner side, with short blonde hair that curled all over his head, glasses and a killer smile.
You had been seeing Matt for a couple of weeks when Thor came to the tower, explaining that Asgard had been destroyed and they had to come to earth. You were sitting on the couch in the common room with Matt when Thor had come in, a tall dark haired man following behind him. You knew who he was, everyone did. "Y/n, this is my brother Loki, he's going to be staying with us in the tower." Thor smiled at you. You looked up at him "Hello Thor....Loki." You said nodding at Loki as he stood there with his arms crossed. "Anyone told you it's not polite to stare?" You asked looking at Loki. His eyes squinting at you "no one that mattered." He said glaring. "And who is this?" Thor asked breaking you from your staring contest "this is my boyfriend Matt, Matt this is Thor and his brother." You said looking at Thor. "Hi, nice to meet you both." Matt said standing holding his hand out to them shaking Thor's hand, while Loki glared at it. You got up grabbing Matt's arm "ignore him, he has issues." You said pulling Matt away.
Loki stared at you as you left "Well brother, it seems you may have met your match." Thor laughed slapping Loki's shoulder. He hummed before Thor drug him off to meet the rest of the team. You had developed a hate, dislike relationship with the God. Wherever he was, snide remarks followed. You both always falling into insults and rude comments around eachother. You couldn't even be paired on missions because you made everyone miserable. You would have tried to get along with him If he wasn't so insufferable.
So here you stood, a year later, standing in the kitchen making tea as the ignorant jerk made his way in. "Y/n, why are you up so late? Your pathetic boyfriend not satisfying you?" He asked smirking at you "and that's my cue to leave." You said grabbing your tea starting to leave. "You know where to find me if you want a real man." He said making you stop. You turned around looking at him, he was leaned against the counter, arms crossed with a smile on his face. You slowly walked over to him looking him up and down "does it even still work? With all the women you bring to the tower I'm surprised it hasn't fallen off." You said glaring at him. His smile dropped as he stood up walking towards you "I would watch how you speak to me." He said squinting his eyes at you. "Whatever you say princess." You said starting to go back to your room when a woman came out of Loki's room.
"Lokiiii baby where are you?" She screeched, her voice piercing your ears. "There's one of them now." You said leaving going to your room. You sat your tea down and threw yourself on the bed. A part of you wished that you got along with him, that you could have been friends with him. If you were being honest with yourself, a part of you thought he was attractive, beautiful even. The way his hair curled at the ends making you want to twirl it around your finger, the way his green eyes seemed to glow, the way his muscles flexed when you caught glimpses during training. You may have had a little crush on him, but there was no way anyone was going to find out, ever.

LOKI X GN!READER
- You were starting to feel like a burden to everyone after they were too busy for you, Loki noticed and came to check up on you 😊
fluff 😇
1.4k words
Tumblr media
"Hey Tony!" I walked into the lab where he was working on his suite once again, "Hey kiddo kinda busy right now, could ya come back later?" He muttered, too absorbed in his work to even glance in my direction. I didn't want to give up just yet though, "But Tony I have an idea for-" but I got cut off by an irritated sounding Tony. "Y/n I said not now, this is important." I huffed and walked out, bumping into Bruce on the way.
"Bruce! Hey I wanted to tell you about how my science exam went-" but once again I got cut off, he didn't even stop walking properly as he turned around, "I'd love to hear how it went, y/n, but I'm really busy. But tell me later, please!" He rushed out before practically running down the hall into the lab. I understood that they were really busy people and were probably doing something important to help save earth or whatever, so I gave them the benefit of the doubt.
I went past Thor as I was on my way to Peters room, "Thor! Can I tell you about this really weird dream I had last night?" And he actually stopped and asked if he could go first because he also had a weird dream. It ended up being about Loki pretending to be a cute puppy and distracting Thor so his friends, 'the scary bird things', could swoop by and steal Thor's pop tarts. "I swear 99% of the dreams you have are pop tart related." I laughed and he agreed so I asked if I could tell him my dream. "So we were in a car with Tony, Loki and Nat. Scott was just sat in the boot right? And we stopped at a shop when I thought I saw, you know that person from the tv show we-" I got interrupted again.
"Hey Thor, you ready?" Steve's voice reached my ears as he walked up the corridor to us. "Oh, yes. Sorry y/n, but I promised Steven here that I would spa with him in the training room." He smiled politely as Cap walked past throwing a quick "hey" my way, before they got into the elevator and the doors closed. I sighed as I made my way to Parker's room whilst muttering "Fine, I guess I'll tell Peter my dream."
I knocked on and heard a cheery "come in!" So I opened the door and was met by Peter sitting cross legged on his bed with his phone. "Hey, I-" I stopped myself as he turned his phone towards me and I saw Neds face across his screen. "Hiiii y/n!" He waved and I smiled, "Oh hey Ned!" I waved awkwardly as I walked closer to Peter. "Hey y/n, me and Ned are talking about Star Wars, have you ever seen the movies?" And I shook my head, "No, I've never got round to watching them." I smiled awkwardly as Peter made a shocked face and I heard Ned start explaining to me the different reasons to start watching them right this second. I told Ned that I'll think about watching them later and that seemed to stop his rambling, "I'll leave you guys to your Star Wars talk then." I smiled as I walked out after they said bye.
I sighed again as I got to my room and opened the door, I looked around and decided to just sit on my bed. I played music through my speaker and sang along softly. It sucked when everyone seemed too busy to talk to me. I haven't had a proper conversation with anyone in a while considering they have all been out on missions throughout the week and I've been staying here because I wasn't feeling well. I know I may be over reacting but I’m starting to feel kind of lonely. It's only been small talk in between busy schedules that consists off "Hey, how was your day?" I can't really answer that question because I've been stuck at the tower and they can't really answer that question because they still have too much to do. I'm starting to feel like I'm a burden to everyone, whenever I try and talk to anyone I just feel like I’m annoying them. I heard a knock on my door so I turned my music down before shouting "Come in!"
The door opened and in came Loki. He stood just by the door and greeted me politely as usual. "Hey Loki." I smiled sadly and he frowned. "Are you alright, y/n?" I shrugged at the question and he shut the door before coming over and sitting on the end of my bed. "What's bothering you, darling?" He stared intently at me waiting for my answer and I pursed my lips debating on whether to tell him or not, in fear of looking silly or dramatic.
"I'm not going to judge you, no matter what it is, you can talk to me y/n." He smiled encouragingly and I took a breath. "It- it's stupid really, I just, I'm starting to kinda feel like a burden to everyone." I shrugged and Loki frowned again, "Why would you think that, darling?" Loki was always so kind to me, despite what they others say about him, he actually seemed like a good guy. "Well, every time I try to talk to anyone, they all say they're too busy or I get interrupted and the person I'm trying to speak to gets distracted, like they'd rather do anything else other than speak to me." I looked down and played with my hands before I heard him start speaking.
"Well they are all morons for not giving you the attention you deserve, darling. How come you never tried to talk to me? I assure you, I would've listened y/n." And I looked up in confusion, "I just assumed you wouldn't want some ‘mortal’ disturbing you, trying to tell you about their weird dreams." I smiled awkwardly.
"You shouldn't assume, darling, and you are not just some ‘mortal’. You are one of the few mortals I can tolerate, I would even go as far as to say that I enjoy your company." He smiled sincerely and I had that surprised expression across my face again. "You enjoy my company?" I asked and he chuckled softly, "Y/n if I didn't enjoy your company, I would have told you by now. Besides, I think you are the only person that shows genuine kindness towards me, even if I don't deserve it."
It was my turn to frown now, I cautiously placed my hand over his. His eyes immediately shot towards the small show of affection and I could tell he didn't really know how to react. "Loki," I called his name softly and waited for his attention to come back to me fully, his gaze landed on me again before I carried on, "you do deserve my kindness, but you know what you don't deserve? The hatred that you've been shown, from your father, from some of the people that live in this tower and from the random people that only know you because of the New York incident. I don't think it's very fair, I can see that you're trying your best and I'm proud of you, Loki, I- I just want you to know that I enjoy your company too and I'm grateful for our friendship. Oh and just so you know, if I ever meet Odin, you're gonna have to refrain me from punching him in the face." I grinned and he chuckled.
He looked into my eyes for a moment, as if he were trying to see if I meant everything I had just said. "Thankyou, y/n." He didn't have to say anything more because as he took ahold of my hand and gazed at me, I could tell he really did appreciate it. "Now, could you tell me your dream, darling?" He asked as he let my hand go before getting comfortable on my bed and leaning against the wall. I then told him my dream and we both laughed about it, we spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying each other's company. He told me stories of Asgard as I showed him new music and spoke about my childhood.
One thing is for certain, I'm definitely going to be spending a lot more time with Loki in the future. :)

Stargazing
or, the six times you embarrass yourself in front of Wanda Maximoff, and the one time you impress her.
Pairing: Wanda Maximoff x male!reader (you can still read it if you’re not male-aligned, just switch the pronouns)
Warning(s): None! This is complete fluff
Word Count: 8.6k
a/n: Yea it’s kinda long, I got a little carried away oops, but I hope you like it! This is me finally writing a requested fic, and it’s my first Wanda one as well. My inbox is open for anyone who wants to submit a request! Reader’s powers are based on the Norse god Balder! Also, I stole number four from my fav TV show, so if you get the reference, I love you <3
Requested by @theamazingmarvelblog using the prompt “You’re an idiot” “but you love me”
Tumblr media
Terra, Midgard, Earth. All are among the names of the small planet that apparently, you’ve been called to.
In other words you’re his little errand boy tasked with mopping up any of the All-Father’s messes, of which there are plenty. He’s most definitely not well known for his graciousness or patience. It’s not ideal, show ponying around in order to maintain peace, but your job is necessary for the preservation of Asgard. Your work of amity and harmony has gained you a reputation as the golden boy of Asgard, a figurehead for beauty and allure, a juxtaposition to your brother Loki, and a parallel to Thor.
Might you occasionally take advantage of this draw? Perhaps, but where would be the fun of possessing this power of magnetism if you couldn’t use it to attract some attention? In this way you are also known as a bit of a manwhore, or player, as you would come to know it on Earth. This label doesn’t bother you much, in fact it only seems to increase your larger than life prestige, somehow making people even more enamored by you.
Case in point, as you stride into the domed Bifrost a guard comes crashing into you from around the corner, causing you both to fall to the ground. You’re quicker on your feet than the other guy, who, as you offer your hand to help him up, is quite handsome. He has black hair that looks impossibly soft on top of his head and round brown eyes that stare up at you in surprise. You flash him a disarming grin as you help him up, one that works to fluster him as he looks down to brush imaginary dirt from his clothes.
“I’m sorry, I wasn’t watching where I was going,” he apologizes quickly, his face reddening from a mix of embarrassment and bashfulness.
“It’s quite alright,” you assure, nodding your head and offering a flirtatious smirk upon noticing how easily the man blushes. “Just be more careful next time, I wouldn’t want anything to happen to that pretty face of yours.” A wink this time for good measure, sending him off after his friend down the bridge. You make a mental note to find the name of that guard later, and to pay him a visit when you do.
“When you’re done trying to seduce another guardsman will you get over here,” a deep voice calls out from the center of the room.
Good to see you brother,” Thor greets, grasping your forearm in acknowledgment.
“Thor, who is this?” The blonde beside him asks, chest heaving from the fight.
“Well this is my brother, Y/N Odinson.”
“He’ll be fine.”

Upon hearing your surname she lights up in recognition, “You’re Thor’s brother?”
“Is it true that you’re Thor’s younger brother?”
“Come on Natasha, don’t leave the poor boy hanging,” the well-dressed SHIELD agent remarks upon seeing your pleading face and the sly smirk on her girlfriend’s.
“Well I wouldn’t blame him, you look very dashing tonight Starboy, purple is definitely your color.” A blush rises along your cheeks so you take another gulp from your drink, hiding your face behind the container.
“Hey Y/N!” She chirps, yea she knows your name.
“Call me, pretty boy.”
“I knew you were a prince back on Asgard. That you probably had people throwing themselves at you left and right.” She’s moved toward you now, close enough to give you a shove with her next words.
“I can’t believe I fell for your stupid little boy next door act, Y/N!” You stumble back in surprise as she pushes your chest, shoes slipping on the slick pavement beneath your feet.
She cuts off your nervous rambling and wild gesturing as she grabs the leather of your jacket collar and pulls you close, smashing your lips together.
“Trust me, I’ve got something much better planned.” You arc your arm in a signal for her to follow you and turn your back to her, silently telling her you’re leaving either way.
The airiness of her perfume mixes perfectly with your cologne as you break apart, staring with a sickening amount of love and admiration into each other’s eyes.
Yea, you could get used to life on Earth.

“Loki, can you hearme?”
“Stark, get medevachere now.”
“Hold on, brother. We’ll get you out of here in no time.”
You could still hear everyone’s overlapping voices echoingin your head as you waited in one of the too-white rooms in the hospital wing, sat in an uncomfortable armchair at the bedside of your best friend as theyslept.
Rather, as they remained unconscious after the nasty blowthey’d taken to their head on the mission you’d just gotten home from. You’dall tried every way in the book to get Loki to remain conscious afterward, fearful of a long-lasting concussion, but Loki had hardly been awake the entiretime it took to get medevac to land, and by the time you’d gotten them onto thehelicopter, they had passed out.
You hadn’t left their side for anything since, waiting forthem to wake back up. In truth, you were feeling a little guilty. You had beentheir mission partner, and had been distracted when they took the hit, so youcouldn’t help but to feel like it was your fault that Loki had gone down. Whichwas why you wanted to be the first thing they saw when they woke up, if only sothat you could apologize immediately.
“Any change?”
You looked up to see Thor standing in the doorway, a mug ofsomething steaming in each hand, and he offered one to you before sitting downat Loki’s other side.
You shook your head, wrapping your hands around the mug towarm yourself. “They keep stirring every so often, but… nothing.”
As if on cue, Loki began to shift again, only this time youcould tell they were trying to wake up, and you glanced at Thor anxiously asyou sat your mug down on the bedside table and leaned closer.
You only had to wait a short while; Loki didn’t take long atall to open their eyes and blink around the room blearily, gaze still a littledistant. You gave them some quiet to collect themself before speaking in a softvoice.
“Loki… Hey. How are you feeling?”
Loki startled at the sound of your voice, their whole bodyangling in your direction as they looked at you appraisingly, as though theywere trying to place how they knew you, and it took a few long moments for themto speak. “…madame.”
The formality of the title gave you pause, as well as theirtone. Like they were trying to be polite whilst also being very confused attheir current situation. You might have laughed, if you didn’t feel thebeginnings of dread settling in the pit of your stomach.
“…bit formal, don’t you think?” You cut your eyes across toThor, and Loki followed your gaze, seeming to relax the slightest bit when theyrecognized him.
“…brother?”
Thor softened to a degree you’d never seen from him before.“Yes, Loki. I’m here.”
Loki’s brow furrowed briefly as he looked from Thor, back toyou for a brief second, and then back to Thor. “…shouldn’t you be getting readyfor your coronation? And how did I end up in here? Is this some sort of ahospital wing? It doesn’t look much like Asgard.”
You blanched, and as you met Thor’s gaze again, you couldtell he was feeling just as confused as you were.
“Loki, what? My coronation? That happened a long time ago.”
Loki made a face. “Are you having a go at me? I hardly thinkour father would have let me oversleep and miss your coronation. No matter howhard I seem to have hit my head…” They trailed off, rubbing at the base oftheir skull, and you were glad they at least seemed to be aware of that much.
“…how hard did you hit your head? You’re acting unlikeyourself.”
“I’m acting just fine, thank you very much. You’re the oneacting weird.” Loki turned to look at you, then, with the most diplomaticallyapologetic expression you’d ever seen on their face. “My apologies, my lady, mybrother can be a bit of a buffoonsometimes.”
“Hey,” Thor whined, but you were a little too busy staringat Loki with complete and utter confusion.
“…right. Excuse me for just a brief moment…” You stood and gave Thor a look. “Thor, if you’d come into the hallway with me for a second.”
Thor looked very confused, but followed you out into thehallway, and once the door was closed, you turned to look at him.
“So clearly they’ve got amnesia,” you stated, as though itwere the most obvious explanation.
Thor made a face. “Uh… what? There’s no way.”
You rolled your eyes. “Loki took the hit of the century onthat mission, frankly we’re lucky it’s justamnesia. That might go away, in time, if we’re careful with them.”
“So, what, you’re saying my brother just completely forgotabout me and everything that’s happened since before my coronation?” His tonewent from haughty to concerned as he processed what he was saying. “They don’tremember everything we’ve been through. They don’t know they’re a good guy yet.Technically, they don’t know they’re a good guy about to go rogue for a goodcouple of years, and then go good again.” He paused as, you assumed, anotherrealization hit him. “They don’t even know they’re a frost giant. I am not bringing that revelation to lightfor them.”
“Okay, okay, slow down, slow down, Thor.” You held your hands up in front of you, urging Thor tocalm down for a moment. “We don’t have totell them anything just yet. One of two things usually happens with amnesia.Typically, after a while, people’s memories come back to them, given enoughtime and prompting when necessary.”
“And the other times…?”
You heaved a sigh, looking at the door Loki remainedblissfully unaware behind. “…they never get their memories back and even ifthey’re told everything, they might not still believe it and will continue tolive in the past that is now their present.”
“So… we either wait for them to remember or wait for themto… not?”
When he said it that way, it sounded so bleak.
“…essentially.” You gave a weary sigh, letting your headfall back against the wall. “You know Loki best. What would be worse, lettingthem live how they think they should be living and giving them the space toremember, or just… telling them what happened and seeing how that goes?”
“Well, the brother before my coronation was… very unstable.I mean, in a way that Loki hasn’t been in a very long time. To speak in moreexacts, they are teetering on the very precipice of… well, everything that sentthem spiraling chaotically in the first place.”
“So what you’re saying is that if we give them informationthat’s hard for them to comprehend, then…”
“It’s Battle of New York 2.0,” Thor finished for you, grimexpression on his face.
“Okay, but… somewhere in there, they’re still good, right? They were good before whathappened at your coronation, right?”
Thor grimaced so hard you could feel your hope dwindleimmediately. “Well…” He said nothing else, for so long that you finally waved ahand for him to continue speaking. “Let me put it this way. Loki has always hada fondness for… mischief, in all meanings of the word. Not up to par with worlddomination or fratricide… At least, not genuine.I think.”
“You think?” Youwere becoming more and more concerned by the minute, and you couldn’t help butto feel like this was somehow going to go horribly wrong and that you weregoing to, worst case scenario, lose your best friend, or slightly betterscenario, have to build your friendship up from scratch again, and you heavedwhat felt like your tenth sigh in as many minutes. “Okay. New plan. We don’tsay anything unless they prompt us to. That way if they remember anything,we’ll know it wasn’t us being hopefulor prying.”
“Sounds fair enough to me.”
You nodded, and Thor did, as well.
“Okay. We’ll at least give them the bare minimum. That theyhit their head and need some time to recover, and then we’ll… take it fromthere.”
Thor nodded again, and with that, you opened the door andwent back into the hospital room, mustering your best smile as Loki looked atyou with an appraising glance that you could feel in your very soul. You triednot to look uncomfortable.
“Okay, so… you know you hit your head, and it was… quite theblow. Which is why you’re in this recovery room, because you were knockedunconscious and we just wanted to make sure that everything was okay. And nowthat you’ve had a little time in here to rest, we’ve decided you’re well enoughto go back to your- to the proper room we set aside for you. You’ll find somepossessions there that should be to your liking.” It was much harder to notoutright say the truth than you thought it was going to be, but if Loki wassuspicious of your behavior, they didn’t show it, only gave a slight incline oftheir head in acknowledgment.
“I’ll show you the way. Come, brother.” Thor waited for Lokito stand before leading them out of the room, but not without giving you onelast glance before they disappeared around the corner.
You let out a breath you didn’t realize you’d been holding.
This was going to be a longjourney.
It had been most of a week when you felt eyes on you as yousat at the desk in your room. You were familiar enough with Loki’s generalpresence that you knew it was them without looking, and you smiled slightly toyourself as you spoke without even turning.
“You don’t have to sneak like that, you can come in.”
You heard no response, and after a few moments of silence, you turned to see Loki still hesitating in the doorway, looking at you withthat calculating, appraising gaze once again, and you offered them your bestsmile, letting them study you for as long as they needed to.
“You seem to be familiar with me, and yet I cannot placeyou,” they finally said after a tense silence, and you only kept smiling, trying to be as welcoming as possible.
“Well, you have been through quite the turn of events, lately. I understand.” You left it at that, which Loki seemed confused and lessthan thrilled with.
“You say that as though it explains the relationship betweenus.”
“I only meant that… Well…” You were struggling to figure outwhat to say without spilling the beans on everything, and suddenly you wondered if this was how it felt to have a secret identity.“…don’t worry about it. Everything will make sense, in time.” Or it wouldn’t.No big deal or anything like that.
That only seemed to confuse Loki even more, and theyfurrowed their brow, finally taking a step into the room and looking around, asthough they might find the answers in the jacket hanging from the coat rack, orthe books stacked on your bedside table. You let them look around, eventuallyopting to turn back around to focus on what you’d been working on, to give themthe privacy to explore without feeling like they were purposely being watched.
“…it feels familiar in here,” Loki finally said after a longwhile of quiet, and you tried not to get your hopes up as you slowly turnedback to look at them, keeping your expression blank.
“In what way?” You posed the question in the most even voiceyou could manage, and watched as Loki continued to slowly make their way aroundthe room, stopping at a bookshelf and tracing a fingertip along the spine.
“…I don’t quite have the words to explain it,” Loki saidslowly, turning back to look at you for a brief moment, then seeming to caveunder the pressure of holding your gaze and looking away again. “Like I have memories here, but don’t quite remembermaking them. Or like they’re… distant. As though I can’t tell if they trulyhappened or they happened in a dream, if that makes sense.” They glanced at youbriefly, and then gave a tight grimace. “I must sound like I’m mad, Iapologize.”
You shook your head. “Not atall. I… I know exactly the feeling you’re talking about.” You smiled, relaxinga little more when Loki returned the expression. You only hope that this wasthe beginnings of Loki’s memories coming back to them. You let the comfortablesilence settle between you for a moment before grinning a little. “Hey. Youwanna go prank someone?”
“Okay, so you’re going to distract my brother, and then whenhe sees me he’s going to be so excitedbecause he’s an idiot who loves snakes, and then when he goes to pick me up,I’ll change back and scare him. He’ll never see it coming.”
You had to fight the urge to laugh, if only because you werealmost certain Thor would see itcoming but would let it happen anyway, as this prank was nearly identical to ashenanigan you knew had happenedbetween the two of them as children. You just didn’t have the heart to admitthat to Loki, so you were going along with it completely innocently.
“Alright, I’ll go get him right now.”
Loki gave a single nod in response and then, in a flash ofgreen light, had disappeared, presumably now a serpent coiled and waiting forThor’s unsuspecting self to happen upon them with your guidance. You shook yourhead fondly, and headed off to find Thor.
It didn’t take you long at all to find him, as he wasruffling around in the kitchen for a snack, and you grinned as you approachedhim.
“Hey. Come outside, I found something really cool, I wantyou to see!”
Thor looked over at you, cheeks puffed with whatever foodhe’d found to snack on and grinned immediately, following you with nohesitation and no need for further prompting. He was smart enough to at leastswallow his food before trying to speak.
“Is it something really cool? I bet it is. You always findthe coolest things outside, Y/N.”
Once again, you struggled against the urge to laugh. Thorwas so completely innocent, and had no idea what he was walking in to, or atleast didn’t seem to be bothered by the possibility of it, if he did have any ideas. You couldn’t decidewhich was better, so you opted to just keep your mouth shut and walk himoutside.
Thor was still talking excitedly when you came to the smallclearing you’d left Loki in, and it took Thor all of three seconds to realizethat there was a snake there. He became indescribablyexcitable immediately.
“Y/N, look at that snake! What a pretty shade of green itis. You think it’ll let me pick it up? I’m gonna pick it up.”
You nodded as you tried to keep yourself from laughing, andby the time he turned around to look back at the snake, you had to press a handto your mouth to stifle your laughter.
And as Thor reached down to pick up the snake, grinning allthe while, his face suddenly lit up with the green shimmer of Loki’s magic, andbefore either of you had time to react, Loki had very nearly tackled him.
“Bhaha, it’s me!”
You heard the sound of the dagger before you saw it, andthen it was sticking out of Thor’s side, and he was… laughing.
Why was he laughing?
“Good one, Loki! You really got me!” Thor insisted, even ashe pressed a hand to his side to put pressure on the stab wound, where thedagger was still very much protruding from.
You blinked at him dumbly for a few moments, then turned toLoki.
“You didn’t tell me you were going to stab him!”
“Well, what else was I going to do?”
“I don’t know, notstab him!”
“He’s fine, look at him!”
You stopped bickering and both turned to look at Thor, whosimply grinned and gave a thumb’s up.
You turned back to look at Loki, who was grinning with whatcould only be described as satisfaction with their shenanigans. You dragged ahand down your face.
“Okay. Thor, we’re getting you to the hospital wing. Loki,no more stabbing. Come on.” You wentover to Thor and began to pull him along, leaving a somewhat confused Lokibehind.
You could just make out theirgrumbled “But stabbing’s what I’m good at…” as you disappeared into theCompound.
After the stabbing incident, Loki got into many more, muchless bloody (to your relief) shenanigans throughout the Compound. Ranging fromthings as mundane and human as exchanging sugar for salt, to disguisingthemself as various members of the team and mocking them, both in and out of said person’s presence, andsometimes leaving surprisingly nice surprises like cups of tea made just howyou liked them or Thor’s favorite snack ready for him when he got back fromrunning errands.
In a way, it almost felt like having the old Loki back.
But you could tell that things weren’t quite right, still.Loki had had to be introduced to everyone, and their lack of memory ofeverything had left the entire team walking on eggshells around them, no onewanting to accidentally be the one to let the cat out of the bag and cause whoknew what kind of trauma for Loki.
You weren’t entirely sure that you could take much more ofit.
You just wanted your best friendback.
Two weeks after the “snake attack,” as everyone had lovinglytaken to calling it, you were entertaining yourself with a book as you sprawledacross your bed, limbs in every direction and book held at arm’s length aboveyour head.
More accurately, you were attempting to entertain yourself while you let your mind wander, once again, to how your hope for Loki returning back to normal had just aboutfizzled out entirely. You’d really held out as long as you could, but with twoweeks passing and Loki seeming none the closer to getting their memory back, you’d just about given up entirely.
You heaved a sigh as you realized you’d read the samesentence five times, and let your arm fall to the bed, the book hitting thecomforter with a muffled smack as you gave a frustrated groan, squeezing youreyes shut.
It was right then that Loki passed by, hesitating at the dooras they looked at you with mild amusement.
“Are you not finished with that one yet? You’ve been at it for five weeks now.”
Your eyes shot open as you stared at the ceiling for a longmoment before slowly turning to look at them.
That was… not something they’d casually know without youmentioning it.
“…Y/N, why are you looking at me like I’ve gone mad?”
You sat up, swinging your legs over the edge of the bed andlooking at them. “…you’re not mad.”
“Of course I’m not, thank you very much.”
You hopped to your feet, but hesitated, as though you werefrightened to step any closer and shatter the illusion that your friend wasfinally back.
“…you remember me reading that book for five weeks?”
“…yes?”
“…and you remember where you are?”
Loki gave you a look, as though it was now they who was concerned for your well-being. “…the Compound, whereI’ve been for several years now, Y/N, whatare you on about.”
“Me? You’re theone who just spent the last two weeks with amnesia so bad that you thought Thorhadn’t had his coronation yet.”
“…beg pardon?”
But you were too excited and grateful that everything was returningto normal now. “You’re finally back!”And with that, you bounded over to Loki, who, after a moment of startledawkwardness, hugged you back, though with a significantly less amount offervor.
“…I’m going to need a large cup of tea and a lengthyexplanation.”
All you could do was laugh and nod, glad to finally haveyour best friend back.

MASTERLIST OF THE STORY
Chapter 18: New Asgard.
It was just like in the movies. Situated in Norway, New Asgard was a small, humble little town. Tiny, compared to the immense kingdom that it was before, but perhaps braver, stronger.
“Guys! This is beautiful!” Y/N said, getting out of the quinjet. Loki and Thor followed closely behind the excited young woman.
“You should have seen it before,” the raven haired god told her, nostalgically.
“I did.”
“On a screen.” He retorted and she stuck her tongue out at him.
“You know, they never showed your room…” She said, playful.
“Would you have liked to see it?” He asked, a smirk forming on his face. Before she could answer, Thor's voice rang out.
“Lady Sif!”
Y/N turned her head from the stoic god and saw Sif running towards her, or Thor, to be more exact.
“Oh my god, that is Sif from Sif and the warriors three!” She whisper-yelled to Loki, who watched her with an amused smile.
“Do you want an autograph?”
“Oh shut up, you almost asked Valkyrie to sign your chest when you met her.” His smile dropped. “Don't forget that I saw that Lokes.” She winked at him.
“Lady Y/N, Brother, come!”
“Hello, Lady Y/N.” Sif said, politely. “Loki.”
“Hello Sif.”
“Sif! Such an honor to meet you, you are so cool and badass!” Y/N let out in one breath and the gods chuckled while the warrior watched her with a confused smile.
“Thank you?”
“Of course!” She responded, grinning like a crazy person.
“Alright Sif, could you show me where Valkyrie and the alleged Asgardians are? I need to take care of that.”
“Yes, My Prince, this way.” She said after vowing, and Thor followed her.
“Are you not going?” Y/N asked Loki.
“No, it is a matter of the not exactly king and now named queen.”
“Oh, well. Better for us! What do you want to do? Do you talk to the people here? Oh my god! I just realized I'm talking with the prince!” She said excitedly and Loki burst out laughing.
“Y/N, calm down.” He said, still chuckling a bit.
“Sorry,” she said sheepishly and he smiled softly and offered his arm.
“Come on, I will present you to the people.”
                                     ---------------------------
“Oh no! I have been stabbed! Tell my husband I love him!” Y/N said, falling to the floor and clutching her chest, as if a wound was there. The kids laughed and she opened one eye and saw Loki looking at her from the back of the room, completely… enchanted? No, she was seeing things now, just great.
“Come on children, leave the young lady alone, she must be tired!” The kind woman, named Hilda, said.
Y/N got up from the floor and bid goodbye to the children, leaving with Loki. It was already sundown, time had passed quickly. Loki introduced her to the people, as he said he would, and then she met a few children and spent the whole afternoon playing with them. Unknown to her, he watched her the whole time, stealing glances from next to Hilda when she was too busy stirring her tea or too engrossed talking about trivialities. She was beautiful, but there was something else, he did not know what. He had met beautiful women and men in his long life, yet something about her made her special.
“Hello, earth to Loki?”
“Sorry, my mind was elsewhere.”
“Somewhere you'd like to share?” They were walking down the hills, a bit far from the town. Arriving at a cliff, they sat down watching the ocean and the sun come down.
“It is nothing, don't worry.” He said, shrugging it off. They stayed in silence for a bit.
“Loki,” he looked at her. “I'm really happy I get to see your people. Even in these circumstances.” He smiled softly.
“I am glad too.” He paused. “In a way, it is like you are meeting my family, what is left of it.”
“I would've loved to meet them.”
“They would have loved you, just as Thor does. My mother especially, my father…”
“Was a complicated man, I know.” She smiled maliciously. “I would've been a pain in his ass, but it would've been fun to mess with him.” Loki let out a laugh and shook his head.
“I think I am rubbing off on you too much mortal.” She grinned.
“Just the right amount.” She said, and grabbed his hand. “This is beautiful,” she said, motioning with her free hand to the sundown.
“It is.” But he was not looking at the sun. She looked at him, and he was already looking at her.
“Do you think your mother would've truly liked me?”
“Is that important to you?”
“Well, of course. She was important to you Loki.” Again, that swelling feeling in his chest, as if his heart was growing bigger by just being there with her.
“Yes, she would have absolutely adored you.” He smiled sadly. “She was kind, like you are. But brave too, just like you.”
“Badass.” She said and he chuckled.
“Badass,” he agreed.
They stayed there until it was dark, with Y/N leaning her head on his shoulder, only being interrupted by Thor, saying they needed to head back to New York. And they did.

A Game of Jealousy
Word count: 4050
This one is focused more from Loki's perspective, lots of fluff (and tickles!) Guest starring Bucky 😎
* * *
Loki never needed anyone to make him happy. He’d spent the better part of his life on his own, learning to rely on himself and not others for comfort. He’d been lied to his entire life by his parents, and while his relationship with his brother was at least improving gradually over time, he still remained very guarded, afraid that anyone he let in would only hurt him the way everyone else in his life had done. No, Loki felt he was better off alone.
That is, until he met you.
You had joined the team about a year ago, just a few months after Loki himself had finally given in to his brother’s persistent requests for him to move into the Avengers tower. The others were polite enough, but Loki could still sense the fear and anger in their eyes when they looked his way. Thor insisted they would warm up to him over time if he’d just try to be more sociable, but it was difficult to bring himself to want to spend time with people who burned holes into his soul with their eyes.
The day you had arrived to move into the tower to join the team, your few belongings in hand, his curiosity was piqued almost instantly. Steve had showed you around that first day, introducing you to all the members of the team. Loki had been in the study, reading in one of the oversized armchairs Tony had furnished the place with, when he saw Steve walking by the doorway with you in tow. You’d paused for a moment, taking a few paces backward to peek inside the room, eyes trained on Loki. He had braced himself for the inevitable exclamation of surprise and fear when you realized that you were living in the same building as the monster who tried to take over the city.
But it never came. You had merely smiled at him, waving in greeting, and introduced yourself as you would with anyone else. Even when he told you his name, your eyes lit up in recognition, but without an ounce of fear. You had hurried along to catch up with Steve after expressing your pleasure to have met him, a slight bounce in your step as you disappeared from sight.
He couldn’t deny it – he was intrigued by you.
Loki’s interest only grew as he began to get to know you more over the next couple of months. The first day he had seen you working with Natasha in the training room, you had impressed him with your grit and determination, not to mention the graceful ferocity with which you fought. And you were smart, too. He’d never forget the day Tony was teasing you, and you’d come up with such a witty retort that even Tony had to applaud you.
Unfortunately, Loki wasn’t the only one in the tower who had started noticing you.
As you became more integrated with the team, the others began to get more physically affectionate toward you. You spent a lot of time with Wanda, often leaning against her on the couch as you watched TV or giving her hand a squeeze when one of you was excited about something. Steve often put a comforting hand on your shoulder after a rough day of training or patted your back in encouragement when you came back from a successful mission. The friendly gestures never bothered Loki to any significant degree.
But there were other team members, notably single team members, whose advances tended to irk him more than the others. Thor was one of the worst offenders, as it was in his nature to wrap any one of his friends into a giant bear hug whenever he saw them. Bucky often liked to push your buttons, teasing you and egging you on until you’d start play wrestling with him on the couch. Even Bruce, on occasion, would wrap an arm around you in a side hug and squeeze you against his side for a moment in silent thanks whenever you’d help him with something in the lab.
He wasn’t jealous, of course. He just… wished they’d give you more personal space sometimes.
You were physically affectionate with Loki as well, which took some time for him to get used to at first. Once Loki started swallowing his pride and began initiating conversations with you instead of waiting for you to talk to him, the two of you became fast friends. He found he didn’t mind it when you squeezed his arm after a jump scare during team movie night, or if you rested your head on his shoulder on a long plane ride home from a mission. Dare he say… he even enjoyed it a bit. Recently, he’d developed enough confidence to initiate physical contact with you himself – giving you a quick hug goodnight when walking you to your room after a late-night conversation or resting his hand on your knee when sitting side by side on the couch.
Yes, you were someone he was willing to tolerate.
One evening, Loki was wandering through the compound, trying to find a quiet place to sit and read. Normally he lounged in the study, but it seemed Peter had overtaken the room with his schoolbooks as he studied frantically for one of his final exams the next day, and he showed no signs of leaving. He decided it would be easiest just to read in his room tonight but decided to swing by the kitchen to grab a glass of water before making his way back there.
As he paced down the hallway, a sound coming from the common room captured his attention. He drew near enough to the door to elucidate that it was your bright, infectious laughter that he was hearing. His heart swelled at the sound. Loki very much enjoyed making you laugh, often telling you embarrassing stories of Thor from their childhood, or otherwise whispering inappropriate jokes in your ear during team meetings, just so he could hear you snort before erupting with giggles. He reached the common room and stood in the doorway, trying to identify the cause for your hysterics.
You and Bucky were sitting on the large sofa in the common room. Although, admittedly, you couldn’t really call it sitting. You were leaning away from the super soldier, giggling frantically and swatting at his hands as he wiggled his fingers into your sides.
“Buckyhyhy! Cut it out!” you ordered, grasping at his wrists. Bucky’s agile hands evaded yours, poking and prodding at your belly and sides.
“What? What’s the matter? I thought you said you weren’t ticklish,” he teased, squeezing gently above your kneecaps, and eliciting a squeal.
A pang of jealousy stung in Loki’s chest. He had discovered your ticklishness a few months ago himself, having accidentally jabbed you a bit too gently in the side during an impromptu sparring session. When he dug his fingers into your torso with more intent, you had shrieked and laughed, but hadn’t pushed away as hard as he knew you could. He interpreted it as you enjoying the playfulness, or at least not minding it all that much. Since then, he had experimented on occasion, proudly discovering over time that you were definitely most sensitive right along your ribs where your back and sides met. He delighted in the silly, giggly mess you became when he scribbled his fingers into that spot, practically melting into his side as your muscles weakened with laughter.
Now, watching you and Bucky as he tested out your vulnerable spots, he felt his throat tighten a bit. He knew he had to find a way to interrupt this little exchange without letting on how he was really feeling inside. Luckily, the God of Mischief knew how to tell a good lie, and above all he most definitely knew how to spin a partial truth.
“You’re doing it wrong, Barnes,” he called into the room, leaning with his forearm propped against the doorway. Both you and Bucky glanced up at him, Bucky’s fingers slowing a bit against the back of your knee but not quite stopping.
“L-Lokihihi! Help!” you pleaded, a bright smile on your face, cheeks tinged with the exertion of your laughter. His heart skipped a bit at the request, proud that you would seek his assistance to escape the winter soldier. But he had to hold firm in his resolve. He couldn’t let you think he was soft for you, after all.
“Now, why would I want to do that? It’s so entertaining to watch you squirm.” He flashed you an evil grin, slowly striding into the room. “Move over, Barnes. Allow me to demonstrate.”
Bucky obliged, an equally mischievous smirk on his face. “Please, do tell!”
Loki motioned to you to scoot closer to Bucky so he could sit on your other side, gently pushing you over when you refused to make space for him on your own accord. You were now sandwiched between him and the super soldier, glancing nervously between the two men. In a desperate attempt to escape, you suddenly leapt to your feet to make a run for the door. Loki predicted your movement, his hands pulling you back down by your waist before you could even fully stand up.
“Ah, ah! You won’t be going anywhere, darling,” Loki teased, holding you in place while he leaned around you to look at Bucky. He ignored your desperate protests in favor of keeping you trapped there beside him. “Now then. First, you must understand that you won’t be able to access her worst spot until you weaken her adequately. Personally, I enjoy beginning right here.” He slid his hands slid around your waist to your belly, fingers drumming tauntingly against your T-shirt. Loki felt your muscles stiffen immediately under his touch, which made him grin.
“Loki! What the hell! Why are you helpihiHING HIHIHIM?” Your scolding of your mischievous friend was made much less intimidating as giggles bubbled from your lips once again, Loki’s fingers having sprung into action, expertly skimming across your belly. Your hands closed around his wrists and tugged to try to remove them from your sensitive torso, but Loki maintained his hold on you.
“Ah, yes, I see that is quite effective,” Bucky noted somberly, his eyes flashing. “Please, continue to show me your ways.”
“Notice that she will continue to fight you when you tickle her here, but trust that her laughter is slowly beginning to weaken her,” Loki continued, conversing casually as if he weren’t torturing you. “However, if you aren’t cautious-“
“Ha!” you shouted triumphantly, having twisted out of his grip and jumped to your feet.
“-she may find a way to escape.”
“That is unfortunate,” Bucky lamented. “What do you suggest if that were to occur?”
“No! No suggestions!” you demanded, defiantly holding out a hand toward the boys to protect yourself. Loki raised his eyebrows, looking up at you with a serious expression, although he was unable to prevent a smirk from pulling at the corners of his lips. You appeared so much more composed on the battlefield and in the training room – seeing you so disheveled, yet still with an involuntary smile on your face, made a thrill run through Loki’s chest.
“If she does escape,” Loki continued, completely disregarding your protests, and trying desperately not to start laughing at your adorably indignant expression, “you simply need to ensure you have a backup plan. Catch her off guard, if you will. Like this-“
Taking advantage of his inhuman speed, he lunged forward and grabbed your leg just behind your knee, causing your leg to buckle unexpectedly beneath you. He chuckled as he watched you stumble a bit on your other leg to try to remain standing but couldn’t maintain your balance and toppled to the floor. Loki swiftly took advantage of your bewilderment at finding yourself suddenly on the ground, standing up and grabbing hold of your ankle.
“Now, you won’t find her worst spot on her legs or feet, but she is most definitely still sensitive here – this can serve to weaken her resolve further,” Loki continued, fully aware that he was causing a blush to rise in your cheeks now as he tugged on your ankle to straighten your leg, yanking you onto your back. You began cursing at him, which he quickly silenced by dusting his fingertips across the sole of your trapped foot. He had discovered this spot a few weeks ago, when you had refused to move your legs to allow him a place to sit. Not to be deterred, he had plopped himself down atop your shins, grinning at you as he had tested your reaction to his fingers dragging up the bottoms of your feet. The frenzied giggles this elicited from you were some of his favorites, only encouraging him to want to continue with the torment.
“But what about her knees? Will that help to weaken her resolve?” Bucky queried, smirking down at you as you shot him a glare.
“Allow me to show you,” Loki obliged, his hand moving to scratch against the delicate underside of your knee. You snorted, then, and he nearly broke his façade by laughing aloud. He experimentally pinched your calf muscle gently, just below your knee, and was not disappointed by your sudden violent jerking of your leg away from his touch. “Ah, a new weak spot. You see, even being an expert at tormenting our little friend, you can still learn something new.” Loki was speaking to Bucky but kept his eyes trained on you, smirking as you beat your fist against the floor in protest.
“I thought wehehe were friends!!” you cried through your laughter. Feeling somewhat merciful, Loki paused his torture and lowered your leg back to the ground, offering you a hand up.
“I apologize, darling; are you tired of this?” Loki asked, holding a hand down to you in offering to help you to your feet. He kept his hand outstretched as you sat up on the floor, your eyes fixed on his, brows furrowed as if trying to decipher whether he was tricking you. Hesitantly, you took his hand. Your skin was pleasantly warm against his own, which almost made him regret what he was about to do.
Almost.
No sooner had your feet rooted onto the ground beneath you did he grab hold of your arm, spinning you around and wrapping both arms tight around your waist. He wasted no time dragging you backward so your back was flush against his chest, his ticklish touch making its way to your lower ribs. You let out a shriek, followed by rambunctious belly laughter. He relished in the feeling of your giggles vibrating against his chest as he tightened his grip around your waist, holding fast against your desperate thrashing.
“If you can convince the girl to trust you,” he continued, having to speak loudly to be heard over your squealing, “an unwise decision, honestly,” he added, his voice rumbling low in your ear, “you may be able to trick her into falling into your trap.” You screamed his name as he walked his fingers agonizingly slowly up your ribcage, your fingers hooking around his wrists and pulling desperately at his hands.
“An excellent tip, thanks for that,” Bucky teased. You whined at his words, which somehow only made your laughter even more adorable. Loki had the sudden urge to squeeze you tighter and nuzzle his nose into your neck, but he thought that you might interpret such a gesture as a flirtatious advance, and he didn’t want to spoil this little game.
At this point you were doubled over, hands weakly tugging at Loki’s fingers as your muscles began to fatigue. Loki could sense that you were leaning more and more of your weight on his arms as you tired, forcing him to tighten his grip even further to keep you from collapsing onto the floor. He slowed his torment a bit, allowing you a moment to rest. You gasped for air, your chest heaving under his forearms with every breath.
“Notice, Barnes, that she has weakened considerably by this point,” Loki explained, continuing under the ruse of showing Bucky how to torture you. “It is only at this level of exhaustion that you will be able to target her one true weak spot.”
Loki felt you jolt at his suggestion, twisting your torso as much as you could in his vice-like grip to look back at him, wide-eyed. You shook your head, pleading with him. He hardened his expression, albeit with some difficulty as he was struggling to wipe the smile off his face, and he splayed his fingers across your ribs so his fingertips rested just along that overly sensitive spot near your back on each side. You were already giggling, bracing yourself for the inevitable torment that was to come.
“Ahahahaha… please Loki, you dohohon’t have to do thihihis!” you begged, pouting at him. Loki couldn’t help but laugh at that, his heart melting at your tiny frown and protruding bottom lip. For a moment, he considered releasing you. But then again, he was getting drunk off of your sweet laughter, and he wasn’t ready for it to stop.
“Sorry, love – I have to show Barnes how to tickle you properly,” he lamented, a faux sympathetic smile on his lips. Before you could beg him once more and break his resolve, he went in for the kill, fingers drilling into the crevices between your ribs. You screeched, torso jerking in his grip for a moment before going limp as you accepted your fate. Loki knew exactly how to tickle you, his fingers expertly vibrating against your ribcage until your laughter became silent. He finally relented after that, loosening his hold so you could catch your breath but not releasing you yet.
With his arms loosened, he could lean around to get a better view of your face. Your cheeks were bright, small tears of mirth collecting in the corners of your eyes. You still had a smile plastered across your face, so wide it caused your nose to scrunch up the tiniest bit. Loki’s heart fluttered at the sight of you, pleased that he had been the cause of your giddy laughter.
“That was an excellent demonstration,” Bucky observed, winking at you as you groaned. “Could I give it a go?”
Loki hesitated, and you stiffened, already arguing with the super soldier. He had anticipated this might occur, given he was supposedly teaching Bucky how to tickle you ‘correctly.’ Still, the idea of having to watch Bucky’s fingers skittering over your belly or scribbling into your knees made his throat burn with jealousy. If he refused, though, he would almost surely give away his feelings.
Reluctantly, though he hid it well, Loki motioned for Bucky to take his place behind you, releasing you only once Bucky’s arms snaked around your waist. Your pleas for mercy were quickly drowned out by your laughter once again as Bucky’s fingers spidered along your ribcage.
“You weren’t kidding – this is much more effective,” Bucky noted, your resolve already weakened from the prior bout of torment. Loki watched as you leaned involuntarily backward into the winter soldier, your head resting back against his shoulder as you submitted to his ticklish onslaught. Loki’s fingers contracted into a tight fist at his side, willing himself not to intervene and give away his displeasure. But damn it, if watching Bucky’s fingers exploring your ticklish sides wasn’t setting a fire in his belly. It felt as though someone had grabbed hold of his heart in his chest and was squeezing it painfully tightly in their clutches.
He couldn’t take it anymore.
Knowing you wouldn’t appreciate if he lashed out at your friend, Loki placed a firm hand on Bucky’s forearm, urging him to stop without saying a word. Confusion etched itself into Bucky’s features as he stilled his fingers against your sides, his grip around you loosening. Your eyes were shimmering with exertion as you looked up at Loki pleadingly.
“I believe she has had enough for today,” Loki stated sternly. He took a step toward the two of you, swiftly scooping you up bridal style in his arms without a second thought. You let out a squeak of surprise as your feet left the ground, your arms instinctively reaching up to wrap around Loki’s neck to stabilize yourself. He turned back around with you in his arms, looking Bucky in the eye. “I’ll be taking her now, thank you.”
Bucky held Loki’s gaze, his face contorting from confusion to surprise, then finally to a knowing smirk. He nodded in approval, waving him off nonchalantly as he returned to his original seat on the couch and turned on the television. Loki carried you out of the room, a fuzzy warmth spreading through his chest as you began to giggle once again, leaning your head into his shoulder.
He arrived at your room, opening the door with his magic so as not to risk dropping you, then turned to avoid striking your head on the doorframe as he carried you inside. Carefully, he set you down on your bed. You sat up, your legs dangling off the edge of the bed as you smiled up at him.
“Your savior has rescued you from the winter soldier’s clutches,” Loki teased, smirking.
“Excuse me – my savior? If I recall, you were the one who nearly tickled me to death,” you retorted, playfully shoving him as he sat down beside you on the bed.
“You enjoyed every minute of it, love,” he smirked, giving you a swift poke in the side to make you jump. You smirked back at him with mischief in your eyes.
“You know, I know exactly what you were doing back there.” Something in your calculated gaze made Loki’s heartbeat quicken ever so slightly.
“Is that so? And what is it you think I was doing?” Loki asked, trying to keep his tone casual and sarcastic to avoid giving himself away. You leaned closer to him, bravely holding his gaze.
“You were jealous of Bucky,” you declared. “You couldn’t stand to see him with his hands on me, even when it was as innocent as tickling. You don’t think I noticed?”
Loki opened his mouth to retort, but for quite possibly the first time in his life, the silver-tongued god was at a loss for words. You maddeningly perceptive thing. You’d seen straight through his little façade and into his heart. Your eyes glowed with the triumph of having silenced the God of Mischief with just a simple observation.
“Do you deny it?” you queried, your grin expanding. Loki sighed, recognizing he’d been caught.
“No, love. I can’t deny it.”
“Good.” Your hand reached up to touch his cheek, leaning forward and pressing your lips against his. The shock of your sudden advance was quickly replaced by elation, and Loki kissed you back fervently. His hands found your waist, gently grasping your hips with enough weight in his touch to keep from tickling you. He felt you smile sweetly against his lips. When you finally broke away, Loki lifted his hands to cup your face, resting his forehead against yours. “Now then – I believe I’m owed some payback for the torture you just put me through…”
“Oh, really?” Loki raised his eyebrows at you, grinning playfully. “And how do you intend to execute such revenge?”
“Hmm… Maybe I’ll just take a page out of your book.” The mischief in your eye reminded him uncannily of himself. He suddenly felt your delicate fingers squeezing into his side, making him jolt. Your face lit up with pure joy as you witnessed his reaction.
Oh, he couldn’t be having that.
His arms were wrapped around you in a flash, dragging you into his chest and leaning backward until you were lying on top of his chest in his arms, eliciting a squeal. He leaned in close, his lips right beside your ear.
“Darling, you don’t want to be doing that.”
The room was soon filled with your frantic giggles once again. But this time, you really didn’t try to get away. Because in all honesty, he was right before – you loved every minute of it.

Leave it to Tony to only have the best in his tower. Prime location is everything in New York. Yes, this is The Avengers tower, but it also is the local headquarters for Stark Industries. The business occupied the lower floors of the tower, as well as other retailers that help the employees that work in the building. Including one coffee shop that had the best blueberry muffins and americanos.
The first time you visited the shop, you were new. No one had heard of you. You could disappear into the crowd. It helped that you looked different under moonlight too, which is when a lot of people saw you.
Over time, people started to recognize you, with or without moonlight transformation. It was getting harder to go anywhere unrecognized. It was not without its perk though. You showed up at the same time most days, around 10:15 am, if you weren’t on a mission. The barista you had made friends with always saved you the last blueberry muffin.
That’s where you were headed right now. You walked out of your room wearing denim shorts and a baggy t-shirt of your favorite anime, tucked into the front. You let your hair down and it was slightly curled from being in a messy bun all day. Not at all how you normally wear it in a high ponytail. You also wore your headphones and sunglasses in hopes that you wouldn’t get recognized.
Walking onto the common area, you could see a lot of the team just unwinding. Wanda and Vision sat in the living room reading. Bucky and Bruce were arm wrestling. Ooh, I hope they don’t break another table. Sam and Nat were cheering them on, while Thor wanted to try the winner.
You made your way inside the elevator listening to music on your phone and pressed for the lobby. You were so caught up on your phone that you didn’t notice that Loki had been inside this whole time. When you stashed your phone in your back pocket and looked up, his reflection off the mirrored doors startled you and made you jump with a little cry. He was leaning on the railing with his legs and arms crossed. He had the most amused expression on his face.
“Loki! You scared me,” you said annoyed.
“I beg your pardon. It’s not my fault that you don’t pay attention to your environment. We should probably add that to your training regimen,” he contemplated.
Loki had been showing you some knife-wielding techniques as he promised. It’s been weeks of grueling practice. He was pleasantly amazed when he, himself, learned something from you as well. “Where are you headed off too? Would you like some company?” He then asked.
“Sure. I was just headed down to the coffee shop for a bit,” you answered. There’s no use now. For sure, I’ll get recognized now that I’m with Loki.
The elevator ride was silent. You didn’t know what to make of Loki. Ever since he came back, he kept to himself often. He didn’t ignore you anymore, but you only ever saw him during weapons training when he was showing you a new trick with your daggers. You never really hung out outside of training or missions. Even the nights when he would bring you tea on the balcony, it was a quick hello and some polite conversation before he excused himself to go back to his room. So, this was entirely new. You felt a little jittery. You had wanted an excuse to hang out with him more, this might be your chance.
Loki had just come down from the hanger. He had misplaced a book he was reading and found it on the quinjet. He was making his way back to his chambers when you had walked into the elevator. All plans forsaken, he just watched you, waiting for you to acknowledge him.
He took notice of what you were wearing and by the looks of your sunglasses and your long hair trying to cover your face, he guessed that you were going downstairs for your ritual cup of coffee and muffin. You hated being recognized. It was an uncomfortable situation for you to have to try to communicate with people who didn’t know about your condition before. Often, people were nice about it, but they didn’t comprehend the situation and it made you feel awkward when they couldn’t understand you.
When the doors opened to the lobby, you made a beeline for the coffee shop, not wanting to stop or give people a reason to stop you. Loki followed you quickly, keeping a couple of steps behind you. Easily keeping pace with his long legs and stride. Although you kept your head down, Loki kept his head up and looked around. Leave it to being raised as a royal prince, but he never looked down when entering a room. He should probably help you with that.
He noticed all the eyes that were looking at you. Some tourists had their phones out taking pictures, feeling lucky that they got to see an Avenger. Some stares weren’t so innocuous. Looking you up and down, with your long bare legs in shorts. At this, Loki made sure the next thing they saw was his menacing face giving them a cold stare.
Inside the café, you stood in the back of a line waiting for your turn. Loki stood behind you, reading the menu.
“Do you prefer coffee or tea? They have a pretty good tea selection. And their pastries are locally made from this bakery a couple blocks up,” you offered, signing to get his attention.
Loki looked down at you and gave you a smirk. “I’ll just get whatever you’re getting. I trust your taste,” he answered. When you got to the front of the line, the cashier recognized you right away.
“Hey! Sup’ gorgeous. Long time, no see. Have they been keeping you busy up there that you can’t come and say ‘hi’?” He said making small talk.
“Hey, Jake. Yea, been busy.”
“The usual?”
“Um, actually, could you make that two of the usual? If you have enough muffins. I brought a friend with me today.” You pointed at Loki and Jake was obliged to look up at him. He gave Loki a narrowed look for a fleeting second. Loki grinned, feeling smug that he elicited such a look from the barista.
“A friend. Hey man, wassup? For sure. I always save you one. But we have enough today.” Taking his eyes away from him and retrieving the two muffins. After paying, which Loki did, you two found a nice table outside to enjoy your treats.
“Thank you for this. My treat next time,” you said. Oh, will there be a next time? Loki liked the thought of that. This might be the excuse he can have to be around you more often. He didn’t ignore you anymore, but he tried to give you a wide berth. He knew that you had gotten close to Barnes, and he didn’t want to get in the way of that. If that is what you wanted.
“I think you intimidated him. He’s not usually this quiet,” you said, talking about the barista.
“Oh? Does he usually stare at you like hapless prey when you’re not looking? He has affection towards you,” he answered back, trying to hold back the sourness in his voice. Yet, another one to contend with.
“What?! No, he doesn’t. He’s just attentive. He’s like that with all the customers. You know, so they can sell more pastries or whatnot.” You rolled your eyes, taking a piece of your muffin to put it into your mouth.
“So why does he always save you one? If the goal is to sell all the pastries?” You paused at the thought, a small smile showing up on your face. Oh no, will she return his affections? Did I just ruin my chances for myself?
The look on Loki’s face when he mentioned the barista saving you a muffin was comical. It was like a mopey jealous child. It made you smile. “Do you like him?” He asked.
“Um, I don’t know. I never really thought about him that way.” Oh, good.
“Do you think of anyone that way?” Do you think of Barnes that way?
“It’s difficult when you can’t speak to the other person, isn’t it?” You started signing. It was your tell. You were starting to get nervous.
“You’re speaking now. Nothing is stopping you anymore.” Is there anyone that I think of that way? You thought.
Yes!
If you think about it, there are a lot of handsome people in your life right now. Superheroes, nonetheless. One of the few people you felt comfortable talking with was this man right here, you thought as you looked up into his eyes. Is this a crush? I barely know him outside of work.
“What about you? There’s no Miss or Mister Mischief in your life?” You asked, avoiding his question.
“There could be, but I don’t think they’re ready yet.”
“Oh? Anyone, I know?”
“Don’t think that you could avoid my questions and get answers of your own, missy.”
“C’mon. We could double date. You and them, and me and Jake over there,” you giggled, joking around. Loki rolled his eyes at you.
“What would we do on this accursed double-date? A movie, maybe? Then dinner afterward to discuss the movie,” he suggested.
“Or a picnic under the stars. I can barely see them here, the stars, in New York. Back home, their numbers would rival the sand on our beaches. And they glittered like them too. Tala would try to make them dance or form new constellations.”
“Do you miss home often?”
“I do. In some ways. It’s hard to explain,” you said taking a sip of your coffee. “Like there’s a before and an after. If I was still the same person I was before, I might miss home a lot more. But I’ve changed. I mean look at me, I’m talking again. So I’m a new person. And this…” gesturing to the tall building looming over you two, “…this is home now too.”
“I can understand that. I don’t know what kind of person I would be if Asgard was still around.”
“I read about Ragnarök. I’m sorry for your loss.”
“Thank you. However, the Asgardians are a resilient race. We are thriving in Norway. We are more than the sum of our parts. We are also the empty spaces that cracks leave behind when we break.”
“Beautifully said. I’d love to see New Asgard.”
“Maybe one day, we can show you. Then, you can show me your island paradise as well. ‘Where the stars rival the sands of your shores?’” Loki attempted to recite to you. You both laughed.
The conversation was easy, flowing from one topic to another. Never short of things to say and never forced. A couple of times, Jacob came out to speak with you pretending to clean tables or whatnot. He completely ignored Loki’s presence. Both times you had tried to include Loki by asking him his thoughts. Jacob would shift uncomfortably in between his feet. Loki relished in his awkwardness, but he was grateful to you for always trying to include him.
You had both finished your coffees and muffins a good while before either of you moved to get up. It was enlightening to speak with Loki. You found out that you had more in common than just your affinity for daggers. The conversation continued as you both got up to return upstairs.
Loki stopped you shortly after walking inside the lobby. He pulled you to the side to let passersby thru. “You are a goddess. An Avenger. Even more so, this is your home. You should not have to look down and hide in your own home.” He tilted your chin up and squared your shoulders towards the elevators. “Eyes up. Chin forward. Back straight. Everybody is beneath you!”
“Loki!”
“What?! Then just pretend. Now go!” Loki watched you, a couple of steps behind. With your head held high, everyone took notice of your graceful beauty. Your bright eyes, your full lips, your coy smile. You had a regal stance about you that commanded the attention of anyone in the room. People moved out of their way for you as you strode confidently towards the elevator. If you weren’t getting looks before, you were definitely getting them now.

[Story Masterlist] [All of my Works]
All eyes were on him again.
As soon as Loki would step inside, the previously lively room would fall completely silent. Well, it’s not like he wasn’t used to being the involuntary kill-joy...
Usually, the God of Mischief craved attention, may it be positive or negative - most of the time being the latter. But lately, after months of having all those distrustful and hostile glares piercing holes into him, he’d rather wish for the ground to swallow him whole.
“Umm, so...I gotta go.” Natasha was the first one to flee the unpleasant atmosphere, not even putting the energy into mutter anything else than a cheap excuse on her way out. Clint wordlessly followed her close after, but not without shooting the Odinson one last, spiteful look.
Loki on the other hand was picking on his hands, a nervous habit he had inherited from his mother. As much as he tried to avoid meeting their eyes, the tensioned aura they were emitting making him feel close to breaking down completely - but he would never give them the satisfaction to witness this, he swore to himself.
And yet: Maybe he should just leave. Disappear, forever.
Although he’d never admit, Loki had grown very tired of his life following this stirr path, unable to diverge into a new direction. Everything he did would ultimately bring death and destruction upon mankind, inflicting fear in the hearts of all people.
His whole existence was based on being condemned to fail - just for others to reach their ‘glorius purpose’.
“Great” Tony scoffed. “Now they’re gone. Well done, prince of nothing.” Steve cut his friend off, clearing his throat very exaggeratedly.
The god still hadn’t moved from the doorframe of the conference room, while all others were already sitting on the oval-shaped table. He didn’t got what all that fuss was about. If Steve didn’t insist him to attend this emergency meeting, he’d just have gone about his usual business and avoided everyone as good as he could.
“C’mon, brother” Thor sighed, well knowing that if his brother was to stay in the team, it would ultimatively drive a wedge between them. All that pressure in the air was straining for everyone, including himself.
Tony on the other hand was pretty chill about everything, aside of being passive-aggressive. This was probably due to their similar coping styles.
Even though his near-death-experience back when he stopped the Chitauri was still eating on his mental health, he’d prefer glossing over it with stupid jokes and overly confident behaviour. “No sassy remark today, Reindeer Games?”
Stark was leaning back in his chair, arms crossed as he rose an eyebrow on the god, who only muttered a hoarse “No...not today.”
Yeah, it was kind of his style to break the unsettling silence through puny comments or self-glorifying speeches, to distract from his own insecurity.
But right now, he was just so damn tired.
Of this planet and it’s people, as well as the humiliating circumstances he had to dwell in. The fact that he was a prisoner at the Stark Tower, amongst his worst enemies. Being forced by his brother to keep up this meaningless act, as if he’d ever be seen as a team member or ally - when in reality, he was but a slave to the people he once ought to reign.
Just like back on Asgard: Never one of them, never belonging. No way to break free - for his true self was something to be loathed.
However, first and foremost the one thing he was especially tired of was himself, for he couldn’t get out of his own skin. Not only could he never be considered a hero, let alone be redeemed.
After all the atrocities he had commited due to Thanos’ torture and the tesseract’s influence,  now that he woke up from that naive dream of power stilling the emptiness in his dark heart, there was nothing left for him - other than to be haunted by his crimes until the mercy of death would overcome him.
“Well” Steve began, slamming his palms on the desk to attract everyone’s attention. “As you all know, we are welcoming a new team member today.”
“They all know?” Of course they wouldn’t let him in on such sensitive information. Not that he minded either way - one Avenger more or less, it didn’t matter how many people hated him in here.
“Please, come on in.”
Loki cleared the entrance when he heared Tony’s words, turning around in anticipation of another dull creature like the Hulk to torment him - but his calm demeanour dropped completely at this unusual sight:
“Y-You?!”
That was simply not possible! The last time he had seen you was almost a year ago, and you were on the brink of death at that!
“For everyone that doesn’t know yet: Her name is Y/N Y/L/N. She is one of the victims HYDRA experimented on, and they succeeded in forming an artificial mutant.”
Steve went on and on explaining about your powers, but Loki’s head had already turned on autopilot, the only thing he could concentrate on being how the hell you of all people ended up here.
All these months, he was desperately trying to get any information about you, all of his hints ultimately leading him to dead ends - and in the end, tragically believing in your imminent death.
The memories were still painfully vivid in his mind: It was his first mission together with the Avengers, at a HYDRA hideout with most likely no civil survivors.
Actually, he had planned to make his escape right when the others engaged in a fight, wandering the hallways of what resembled a torture chamber rather than a laboratory.
On the walls were several instructions, about a serum that might cause a human to mutate if they were exposed to unbearable stress - pain being the most effective method, apparently.
Yet instead of finding anything useful for his personal gain, he found you: A  beautiful woman, yet emaciated and lying in a puddle of her own blood. At first he thought you to be dead just like the others - but as soon as your faint whimpers drang to his ears, he burst the cell you were trapped in open, rushing to your side immediately.
“Shh...” the god scooped you up from the cold stone floor, wrapping his cloak around your broken body. “Everything is alright now. Your savior is here.”
Loki gasped as he felt your hand stroking his cheekbone, even through all your pain and weakness wanting to bid your hero this due respect.
“Hel...you humans are such fragile creatures...” Loki muttered under his breath, cursing his own lack of talent when it came to casting healing spells. “Hang in there, look at me!”
Your eyes were teary and bloodshot, yet not less fit to bring across a message no words ever could: Incredible gratitude, and admiration.
He could tell you were close to passing out when your hand left his face, falling limp to the side. But he held you firmly in his arms, not once stopping to utter sweet words of encouragement as he made his way to the ship, leading you into safety.
“Your world in the balance, and you bargain for one man?”
Those were the words he once directed at Black Widow - but only now he understood her attempts.
Saving one person could never make up for all the lives he had destroyed - and yet he knew that for you, it would mean the world none the less.
In one way or another, with your life at his mercy, he began to finally grasp the preciousness of life, and doing everything in one’s might to protect it.
“Reindeer Games” Tony tapped on his shoulders, making Loki wake from his pondering. “I’d appreciate if you didn’t scare her away on the first day already.”
Oh.
Just now he was noticing his own grim expression, having towered over your much smaller form this whole time with furrowed brows.
“My apologies” was his firm response, but you only shook your head, trying to tell him it was not a big deal.
So this was what you looked like when you’re not imprisoned, he realized when he took in your physique.
Much to his pleasure, all of your wounds had seemingly healed, and you finally gained some much needed weight. Like this, you looked so much more healthier - and most definetly even more bewitching than he remembered you.
If people had let him know, would he have visited your sickbed, aiding you towards health again? Who knows...
Yet somehow, he dwelled in the thought of you being able to lead a happy life now that you were free - which made your decision to seek out the Avengers in wish for more battles even harder for him to accept.
“You are incredibly strong, Lady Y/N” Loki spoke firmly, everyone else rolling their eyes at his usual exaggeration - but you knew he meant every word. “Be sure of my eternal respect.”
The God of Lies’ eyes widened in excitement when you directed a warm smile at him, knowing for sure that this one was genuine. It wasn’t like those fake smirks the other Avengers gave him out of politeness, or the mocking laughs when they were making fun of or excluding him.
No - that one was just pure affection. And it left him in awe.
“Thank you for saving me back then” you signed, just for Loki shooting you a puzzled look.
“What, I thought the all-tongue knows every language?” Tony yelled, as inconsiderate as always. Thor was quick to explain on his brother’s stead, him still being deeply invested with you. “Every spoken one, yes. ASL is not one of our fortes.”
Usually, Loki had always been a quick thinker. But right now he was to bewildered by your appearance that thinking straight was out of the question.
What language were they speaking of? And why have you not been saying anything up until now? Maybe his presence was making you uncomfortable, after all? Should he leave on your behalf?
To make it easier for him to understand, you rolled down your turtleneck, revealing the unsighty scar that covered your whole throat.
There were not many people bold enough to come close to the God of Mischief without warning, yet suddenly you simply took his hand and slowly led it to your neck.
How could you be so naive and offer someone like him such a vital spot?! He’ll never get the human philosophy...
And yet, the flabbergasted god hesistantly let his hand run over the scar, while you opened your mouth to no avail - for 11 months already, no tone would leave your vocal cords.
“I’m incredibly sorry...” Loki whispered with a sorrowful tone, while the others just stared in disbelief. “If only I was able to heal this wound back then...”
What a puny god he was...and an even more pathetic wanna-be-hero at that...
He would try to take a few steps back, but you took a hold of his hand, squeezing it with both of yours, that cheerful smile not faltering in the slightest.
“Please, don’t be sad. I’m only alive thanks to you!” Bucky, whose cousin was mute as well, translated what you were signing for Loki. His tone sounded quite irritated, not fitting those meaningful words. “I only wanted to join the Avengers because I want to be just like you. You’re my idol!”
Those words touched him deeply, igniting a flame inside of him he thought long to be defunct. Was it hope?
Of course it was not nearly enough to pull him out of that deep, dark hole he felt trapped in for as long as he could remember - yet somehow, he now felt that it was not impossible to escape.
While the others were cringing at your declaration, making jokes about ‘choosing wrong idols’ or would plainly not believe Loki to have a positive effect on anyone, the two of you would just stare at each other in silent admiration.
Shyly, you signed yet another word for him - and this time, Loki would know what you mean from pure intuition.
He smiled.
For the first time in what felt like forever, Loki was able to smile again, just thanks to your heartwarming welcome. And he was still blissfully unaware about what effect you could have on him, if he was brave enough to let you close.
One thing was sure: You literally had him wrapped around his finger from the very start.

Loki despised the parties that Tony threw. They lacked any sort of elegance or class, and seemed to be nothing more than an excuse to drink too much and be obnoxious. This time, the party was in celebration of New Year's Eve, and as Loki fidgeted with his goblet of wine he pretended to listen to whatever his brother was going on about to avoid talking to anyone else. He eyed the clock, wishing it would strike midnight already so that he may leave, and wondering why he bothered attending in the first place. Alas, he still had over an hour to go.
It had been over six months since you had last visited your family, and had heard the news of Loki moving in to the tower but had yet to meet him. Your fiancé kept you very busy with travelling, and you had not been on an active mission in almost two years. Secretly, you missed the action.
"Lady Y/N!" Thor greeted with a wide grin. "I was beginning to think you'd forgotten about us, you've been away so long!"
"Yes, I'm truly sorry about that," You said sheepishly. "We had planned on visiting for Christmas, and Thanksgiving, but things got in the way. You know how it is."
"What matters is that you're here now, kiddo!" Your brother said from beside you. "We missed ya around here."
You smiled and gave him a hug, missing his comforting scent of diesel fuel and expensive cologne. "I missed you, too, Tony."
"Lady Y/N, I'd like for you to meet my brother, Loki," Thor said, nudging the raven-haired man that stood next to him, back turned toward you.
Loki sighed, rolling his eyes before turning to face you, and as he looked at you his breath felt as though it was snatched from his lips. You wore a chiffon emerald green dress, the sleeves and back sheer while the rest of the dress had intricate lace wound into floral patterns, the hem falling just below your knees.
"It's a pleasure to make your acquaintance," You said politely, nodding to Loki. He was really quite handsome, with chiseled features and a lean yet muscular build, and you had to restrain yourself from allowing your eyes to explore his body.
"You don't fool me with your mockery," Loki replied, his tone leaving much to be desired.
You sighed. "You are aware that not everything is an affront, aren't you? I am sincerely glad to meet you."
He looked at you with narrowed eyes, as if trying to figure out what kind of game you were attempting to play with him, but you were genuinely happy to meet him. You'd heard from Thor that he was trying to change for the better, and was working to show that he was truly regretful of his actions in New York and Germany, and you'd wanted to meet him for quite some time.
"Hm. It is a pleasure to meet you as well," He replied, holding out his hand. You placed your hand in his, and he pressed a soft kiss to your knuckles before letting it go.
You blushed, feeling butterflies take flight in your stomach, but continued the conversation. "So, how has everything been since I last visited?"
"Well, you know, catching bad guys and saving the world, the usual," Tony said. "Which you would know, if you came home more often than once or twice a year." His tone was playful, but had underlying concern. You used to visit all the time when you first moved in with your fiancé, but now..
You smiled, but it didn't quite reach your eyes. "I know, and I am truly sorry I don't visit more. But you know Ben, he dislikes travelling, I had to convince him for an hour to come tonight."
Wrapping a meaty arm around your shoulders, Thor raised his glass. "To Lady Y/N!" He said. "It is a great pleasure to see you again, we've missed you!"
"To Y/N," Tony said, tipping his glass with a smile. "Here's to hoping Ben starts learning to like travelling."
As if on cue, Ben walked up behind you and snaked his arm around your waist, pulling you away from Thor. You looked up at him, startled, and his eyes bore into yours. "Hey, what are you doing?" He asked, his tone light and curious.
It didn't go unnoticed by Loki the way you flinched when the man grabbed your waist, or the way you shied away from his gaze. Looking at the others, no one else seemed to have seen it.
"Greeting my friends, and my brother," You replied softly, not meeting his eyes. "You all remember Ben, my fiancé."
Nat had joined the conversation, nodding to you both. "It's nice to see you two again," She said.
Ben eyed her body for longer than was appropriate, and you felt a pang of hurt in your chest. "It's nice to see you, too," He said, grip loosening on your waist.
"We've missed you around here," She said as she embraced you. "You really do need to visit more."
You chuckled dryly. "So I've been told."
"I haven't met you," He said, eyeing Loki.
In return, Loki gave him a simple once over before curling his lip and looking away, deciding that no, he did not like Ben. He said nothing and turned his gaze to you, eyeing you curiously.
Ben's grip tightened uncomfortably on your waist, his arm digging into your rib. You grimaced, and gestured to the raven haired prince. "Ben, this is Thor's brother, Loki."
"Think you're too good to speak to me yourself, do you?" Ben asked gruffly. "What, just because you're a 'God'?"
"Ben, stop it," You scolded. "He hasn't spoken to me either, I imagine he's not all that comfortable around new people and I don't blame him. Leave him be."
As Ben glared at Loki, the God continued to look at you, his eyes inquisitive. Why had you lied to your fiancé? You begged Loki with your eyes not to say anything, and as Ben looked away you saw Loki mouth 'Later'. You nodded slightly as Ben spoke.
"Well, if you lot don't mind, I'm going to steal my fiancé away for a dance now," He said, pulling your arm. You forced a smile and waved goodbye as he drug you to the corner of the room, away from prying ears.
Gripping your waist tightly, his fingers digging into your skin, he swayed the two of you back and forth. "What was that?" He asked, his voice low and angry.
"What are you talking about?" You asked, trying not to show any obvious discomfort. You were sure his fingers were going to leave bruises for how hard he was grabbing you.
"That whole display with you and Thor, and then your little eye fuck with that ass he calls a brother!" He seethed, straining to keep his voice down.
You looked at Ben in disbelief. "Seriously? Calm down, that was obviously nothing. Thor is just a friend, and I hadn't even met Loki before ten minutes ago."
"Calm down?" He snorted. "The only thing that was obvious is that he's into you, and you were just playing right into it."
You wanted to comment on the way he was eyeballing Nat, but then he would cause a scene and that was the last thing you wanted. "Please, Ben, I'm sorry. It won't happen again."
"Your damn right it won't, because we're leaving. I shouldn't have even let you talk me into coming here." He tried to tug you out of the room, but you yanked your arm away.
"What? No, we are not. I just got here, I'm not leaving," You hissed. "You're free to do as you wish, though."
He grabbed your wrist so tightly you'd swear you felt bones shift, making you gasp in pain. "What, you want me to leave so you're free to flirt with whoever you want? Nice try."
"Ben, don't cause a scene," You pleaded. "Just let me go, we can talk about this."
Seeing your disagreement, Loki decided to intervene. "What seems to be the issue here?" He asked, eyeing Ben.
"Oh, so now you want to talk, to butt into business that's not yours," Ben spat. "It's nothing, we were just leaving."
Loki turned to you, eyeing your fiancé's grip on your wrist for a moment before speaking. "Well I couldn't help but notice that it appears as though Lady Y/N does not wish to leave."
"Of course she does," Ben huffed. He looked at you, his eyes warning you to agree, but you tugged your wrist out of his grip and stepped back. Anger prevalent on his face, he gave Loki one last glare before storming out of the room. You knew that Ben was going to be angry when you decided to return to your room, but you decided to ignore that, determined to enjoy the rest of the party with your family.
You looked up at Loki, who was staring at you expectantly. "I just want to say thank you," You said. "Ben can be... Difficult, sometimes. He's not always like that, though."
"Would you care to explain what that was all about?" Loki asked, wanting to satiate the curiosity prickling his mind. He had many questions about your fiancé, but instead of replying you took the goblet from his hand, downing the whole thing in just a few swallows.
"No, I would not," You replied, handing the goblet back. "I'd rather enjoy the rest of the party than dwell on that, if you don't mind. You're welcome to enjoy it with me."
Loki stared down at the empty glass in his hand in shock. It was rare that he was rendered speechless, and for you to have slighted him in such a manner... He was surprised to find that he felt impressed, gaining a new sort of respect for you.
He followed you to the bar, sitting on the stool next to you. "I hope you are aware that the drink you just took from me was Asgardian wine," He said, eyeing you. "No mortal my brother or I have met has been able to finish so much as half a glass."
"It was good," You said simply. "There wasn't much in your goblet either, though."
Loki chuckled. "Love, the goblet was near full. It is not a drink meant for the faint of heart; this is why they call it the Nectar of the Gods. We cannot get intoxicated from mortal alcohol."
"Well it's a good thing I'm not faint of heart then, isn't it?" You replied, trying to pay no mind to the butterflies that stirred at the affectionate nickname.
"Yes, you really are quite something," Loki said, barely loud enough for you to hear.
You eyed him for a moment, feeling warm and slightly tipsy as the alcohol settled in. "I'm going to go dance," You said, your tone implying that he was welcome to join you.
Loki watched as you got up, walking over to your brother and his wife and danced happily with them. You poured yourself a second glass of the sweet wine that Loki brought, raising your glass to him and waving him over.
"Have you ever seen the ball drop?" You asked, pointing out the window. Everyone stood in front of the large windows, staring out at Times Square, which could be seen from the Tower. "Do you see that? When it hits midnight, the ball drops."
"What an odd tradition," Loki mused, following your point to a large park filled with people and lights. When everyone began to count down from ten, he watched your excited expression as you watched the ball, amused at how such a small thing as a ball dropping could bring such joy.
"Happy New Year!" Everyone cheered, and Loki noticed that everyone was hugging and kissing. Suddenly, he felt you throw your arms around his neck and he involuntarily stiffened, not quite sure how to respond. You pressed a kiss to his cheek, and he pulled back, looking at you in shock.
"I- I'm sorry, I'm not sure why I did that-" You stammered. "I was just caught up in the moment, I suppose."
Loki cleared his throat awkwardly, looking away. "It's, ah, it's alright. I think perhaps you've had a bit too much to drink." You giggled and hiccuped, only proving his point, and he let out a sigh. "How much wine have you had?" He asked.
"This is my third glass," You said with a large smile. "It's gone now though, I drank it."
Loki looked at you with wide eyes, and took the glass out of your hand. "I think it's time you retired to your chambers for the night, Lady Y/N."
You pouted, but allowed him to lead you out of the room, a large hand on the small of your back, holding you steady. You stumbled a few times, Loki catching you before you could fall, and you laughed each time. He pondered for a moment why he was doing this in the first place, when he could have easily had his brother do it, but then he shook it off. By the time the two of you had reached your room, Loki realised that there were many questions about you he wanted the answers to, but that it would just have to wait for another time.
"I do not envy you the headache that you will have when you wake, Lady Y/N, but do try to rest well," Loki said softly.
"You, too," You replied, a lopsided smile on your face.
What possessed him to do such a thing was beyond him, but he slowly bent down and pressed a kiss to your cheek. "Happy New Year, Lady Y/N," He whispered.
"Happy New Year, Loki," You whispered back. He nodded to you and walked back down the hall, as you touched your cheek and walked into your room. Ben was nowhere to be seen so you just flopped onto the bed, not bothering to remove your dress or shoes, and quickly fell asleep.
That night, you dreamt of blue eyes and green leather.
