Building with Purpose The Role of Windows, Sun, and Orientation in Sustainable Homes
Have you ever wondered how some homes blend comfort, beauty, and sustainability effortlessly? The answer lies in carefully considering key elements during the construction process. Regarding sustainable homes, windows, sun, and orientation play a vital role in creating an environmentally friendly and energy-efficient living space.
In this blog post, we will explore the significance of these elements and how they contribute to building with purpose. Discover the secrets to creating sustainable homes by builders Canberra that benefit the planet and enhance your quality of life.
How Can Windows Maximise Energy Efficiency?
Windows are more than just openings to the outside world; they are essential for sustainable homes. Well-designed windows can maximise energy efficiency in multiple ways. Firstly, they allow natural light to flood your living spaces, reducing the need for artificial lighting during the day. This not only saves energy but also enhances the visual appeal of your home.
Secondly, windows can be strategically placed to facilitate cross-ventilation, promoting natural airflow and reducing reliance on mechanical ventilation systems.
Finally, energy-efficient windows with advanced glazing technologies can provide insulation, minimising heat transfer and reducing the need for excessive heating or cooling. By choosing the right windows, builders can create energy-efficient, comfortable, and environmentally responsible homes.
Harnessing the Power of the Sun for Sustainable Homes
The sun, a limitless energy source, can be harnessed to power sustainable homes. Builders can optimise energy efficiency by considering the sun's path and incorporating passive solar design principles. Orientation is a crucial factor in this process. By orienting a home to take advantage of the sun's path, builders Canberra can maximise natural light and heat gain during the winter, reducing the need for artificial lighting and heating. Additionally, thoughtful placement of shading devices, such as overhangs or awnings, can prevent excessive heat gain during summer, keeping the interior cool and comfortable.
Tumblr media
Orientation: Aligning Homes with Nature's Blueprint
Orientation is a key consideration in sustainable home design. Builders can optimise energy efficiency and comfort by aligning a home with nature's blueprint. Understanding the local climate, prevailing winds, and the solar path is essential in determining the ideal orientation for a home. By placing the longest sides of the house facing north and south, builders can maximise exposure to natural light while minimising heat gain.
This orientation allows for the efficient distribution of daylight throughout the home, reducing the need for artificial lighting and enhancing the occupants' well-being. Furthermore, the thoughtful placement of windows and openings on the east and west sides can help control solar heat gain and promote natural ventilation.
The Role of Builders in Creating Sustainable Homes
Builders play a pivotal role in creating sustainable homes prioritising energy efficiency and environmental responsibility. By integrating sustainable design principles, builders can construct homes that minimise their ecological footprint. Attention to detail in window selection, placement, and energy-efficient technologies can significantly impact a home's energy performance.
Additionally, builders can collaborate with architects, designers, and energy consultants to ensure homes are optimised for solar orientation and passive design strategies. By prioritising sustainable practices and materials, builders contribute to a greener future while providing homeowners with sustainable homes that are comfortable, energy-efficient, and aesthetically pleasing.
Conclusion
Building with purpose entails considering the role of windows, sun, and orientation in sustainable homes. These elements are key to maximising energy efficiency, harnessing the sun’s power, and aligning homes with nature's blueprint. By paying attention to window design, incorporating passive solar principles, and carefully considering orientation, builders Canberra can create sustainable homes that benefit both the environment and the occupants. Embracing sustainable practices in construction ensures a brighter, greener future for generations to come. So, let's build with purpose, creating sustainable homes that harmonise with nature and enhance our quality of life.

Commercial Plumbing Maintenance Checklist: What You Need to Know?
Commercial plumbing systems are vital to the functioning of any business. From bathrooms to kitchens and everything in between, a properly functioning plumbing system is essential for daily operations. However, as with any complex system, plumbing systems require regular maintenance to ensure they remain in good working order. Neglecting maintenance can lead to costly repairs, downtime, and lost productivity. Therefore, developing a comprehensive commercial plumbing maintenance checklist is essential for any business owner or facilities manager.
In this article, we will discuss the key elements of a commercial plumber Canberra maintenance checklist and why each item is important. By following these guidelines, you can help ensure that your plumbing system remains in top shape and your business runs smoothly.
Check for Leaks
Leaks are one of the most common plumbing problems and can lead to wasted water, increased water bills, and damage to property. It's essential to check for leaks regularly. Inspect all visible pipes for signs of leaks, such as wet spots, rust, or corrosion. Also, look for water stains on walls and ceilings that could indicate a hidden leak. If you find any leaks, repair them as soon as possible.
Test Water Pressure
Low water pressure can be frustrating for employees and customers, and it can indicate a more significant plumbing problem. Testing water pressure is an essential part of plumbing maintenance. Use a pressure gauge to measure the water pressure at various points throughout the building. If the pressure is consistently low, it may be necessary to clean or replace the pipes.
Inspect Water Heaters
Water heaters are essential components of any commercial plumbing system. They provide hot water for bathrooms, kitchens, and other areas. Regular inspection and maintenance of water heaters can help prevent breakdowns and extend their lifespan. Inspect the heater for rust, corrosion, or leaks. Check the temperature and pressure relief valves to ensure they are functioning correctly. It's also a good idea to flush the tank to remove sediment buildup.
Clean Drains
Clogged drains can cause significant problems, such as backups and flooding. Regular cleaning of drains can help prevent these issues. Use drain-cleaning products or a drain snake to remove any buildup or debris. Be sure to follow the manufacturer's instructions when using drain-cleaning products.
Inspect Toilets
Toilets are one of the most critical components of a commercial plumbing system. A malfunctioning toilet can lead to unsanitary conditions and lost productivity. Regular inspection of toilets can help identify problems before they become major issues. Check for leaks, cracks, or loose fittings. Ensure that the flush mechanism is functioning correctly and that the tank is filling up properly.
Check Backflow Prevention Devices
Backflow prevention devices are essential components of any commercial plumbing system. They prevent contaminated water from flowing back into the main water supply. It's essential to check these devices regularly to ensure they are functioning correctly. Hire a licensed plumber to inspect and test the devices to ensure they meet local codes and regulations.
Schedule Regular Maintenance
Regular maintenance is essential to keep a commercial plumbing system in top shape. Develop a maintenance schedule that includes all of the tasks mentioned above, as well as any other tasks specific to your business. Hire a licensed plumber to perform regular maintenance to ensure that everything is functioning correctly and to identify potential problems before they become major issues.
In conclusion, a commercial plumbing system is an essential component of any business. Regular maintenance can help prevent plumbing problems and save money in the long run. Use the checklist provided above to develop a comprehensive maintenance plan that will keep your plumbing system in top shape. Remember to hire a licensed plumber to perform any repairs or maintenance to ensure that everything is done correctly and up to local codes and regulations.

9 Ways To Prepare For Old Fence Removal
Removing a fence around your home or property with the help of timber fencing Canberra can be a daunting task, but it doesn’t have to be. With proper planning and preparation, you can make the process easier, less expensive, and much more efficient.
Here are the things you can do to get ready for old fence removal that will help you get the job done quickly and safely.
Decide on a Removal Method
There are two main methods of fence removal – manual and mechanical. Manual removal involves taking apart each section of the fence by hand, while mechanical removal uses specialized tools such as saws and drills to quickly and easily remove fences. Consider which method will work best for your project before beginning the process.
Gather the Proper Tools
Depending on the type of fence being removed and the removal method chosen, you may need a variety of tools to complete the job properly. Commonly used tools for old fence removal include pry bars, hammers, drills, saws, wire cutters, pliers, shovels, and wheelbarrows. Ensure that you have all the necessary tools on hand before starting your project.
Disconnect All Utilities
If your fence is located near any type of utility lines (water lines, gas lines, electrical wires), these must be disconnected before starting any work on the fence itself. Contact your local utility company in advance so they can come out to disconnect any hazardous lines safely before beginning work on the fence.
Take Safety Precautions
Fence removal requires working with potentially hazardous materials such as sharp metal or exposed nails; proper safety precautions should always be taken when handling these items to avoid accidents or injury during this project. Wear protective gloves whenever handling pieces of broken fencing or going into tight spaces between boards; if possible use eye protection as well when dealing with power tools or sharp objects during this process.
Make Sure It’s Permitted
Before getting started with old fence removal it’s important to double-check that you don’t need any permits from your local government to do so legally within your area; failure to do so could leave you subject to fines or other forms of legal action if caught without permits for a major project like this one!
Label/Designate Sections
An often-overlooked step in old fence removal is labelling/designating sections beforehand; this will help streamline the entire process since instead of having to take each post out individually you can simply pull out multiple posts at once after grouping them according to labels placed earlier accordingly beforehand! This also helps ensure that no pieces are mixed up or lost in transit when transporting them elsewhere later on down the line too!
Remove Fencing Carefully
When removing fencing pieces it’s important not only for safety reasons but also because many times they still retain some value even long after their useful life has expired - recycling programs are often available at local scrap yards where these materials can be sold off at market rate prices depending upon their condition! Be sure not to damage any parts if possible while taking them down though; if the material is too damaged beyond repair then consider donating these items through Habitat For Humanity instead for reuse elsewhere!
Dispose Of Materials Properly
Once all of your fencings have been removed from their original location it’s time now for disposal - depending upon local regulations there may be designated drop-off locations where this material can go such as landfills specifically designed for larger waste management projects like yours! Alternatively, if possible try reaching out locally first through neighbour networks who might be interested in using these materials themselves either directly (for DIY projects) or indirectly (through donation centres)!
Make Repairs To Existing Areas
Finally, once all old fencing has been successfully removed now comes the time for repairing surrounding areas - fill gaps left behind by posts with soil/gravel mix while patching up holes created by nails/screws with wood putty before painting over any visible damage left behind afterwards with weatherproof paint appropriate colour matches existing surroundings! Doing so helps maintain a beautiful landscape view throughout the lifetime use of new replacement fences being installed soon afterwards too!
With some careful planning and preparation ahead of time old fence removal doesn’t have to be an overwhelming task anymore - following these nine steps will ensure everything goes smoothly while ensuring safety precautions are taken too to guarantee successful completion every single time around here today!

USAF is keeping an eye on the MQ-28 Ghost Bat for the NGAD program
Australian Ghost Bat Drone will be able to pair with the U.S. NGAD system.
Fernando Valduga By Fernando Valduga 08/28/2022 - 10:36 AM Military
Air Force Secretary Frank Kendall indicated that the U.S. Air Force could incorporate the Australian-made Boeing MQ-28 Ghost Bat drone into the Next Generation Air Dominance (NGAD) family of systems, according to media reports.
Citing China's technological superiority and aggressive acts in the region, Kendall also said that the U.S. may be willing to cooperate with Australia in long-range attack capacity.
"I'm talking to my Australian colleagues in general about the NGAD family of systems and how they can participate," Kendall said about the Ghost Bat drone, formerly called "Loyal Wingman," the first aircraft to be manufactured in Australia in half a century.
Tumblr media
The RAAF wants to put the drone into operation in 2024-25. The plan is to unite the MQ-28 with existing manned combat aircraft, such as the F-35A, F/A-18F Super Hornet poaching and EA-18G Growler electronic attack aircraft, and air combat, reconnaissance and surveillance missions. It could also serve as a 'protective' role for high-value air assets, such as KC-30 tankers and E-7 Wedgetail early warning aircraft.
Kendall told Breaking Defense that the United States and Australia are "having preliminary discussions" about the purchase of the MQ-28 Ghost Bat "as a risk reduction mechanism" for NGAD's drone capacity.
“I think there is a lot of mutual interest in working together. And we will sort out the details in the coming weeks," Kendall said after meeting with the newly appointed head of the Royal Australian Air Force, Robert Chipman, on August 22.
Tumblr media

Australia and the United States, along with the United Kingdom, deepened their defense relationship in 2021, when President Joe Biden announced the "AUKUS" partnership to share military technology, starting with nuclear-powered submarines.
In public comments in Canberra, Kendall and Chipman described China's air superiority and aggressive actions, including a dangerous interception of Chinese J-16 fighters that damaged an Australian surveillance P-8 over the South China Sea. During the meeting, the Chinese aircraft released a chaff cargo that entered the engines of the P-8 and damaged its exterior.
“They are as formidable a strategic opponent as I've ever seen. We are in what I consider a race for military technological superiority with the Chinese," Kendall said, according to local media.
Chipman said that China's aggression would not prevent the RAAF from flying over international airspace.
In an interview on June 9, the commander of the U.S. Pacific Air Forces, General Kenneth S. Wilsbach said that the Chinese meeting with the Australian P-8 and a similar meeting with Canadian aircraft were dangerous.
Artistic design of the U.S. NGAD.
"This is not just unprofessional. It is definitely dangerous and unsafe," Wilsbach said at PACAF headquarters at the Pearl Harbor-Hickam Joint Base, Hawaii.
"I ask the Chinese Air Force to intensify and be professional," he added. “Australians and Canadians, as well as the U.S., have been, are and fly in international airspace. They have every right to do so in accordance with international law. And the Chinese do not have the right to damage an aircraft that is operating under international law."
But China doesn't see it that way.
China believes that the airspace over the Taiwan Strait is its sovereign territory, as well as airspace strips over the South and East China seas, where it claims waters in territorial disputes with the Philippines and Vietnam.
Kendall's trip echoes a two-week August trip through Pacific air bases and meetings with allies and partners made by the Chief of Staff of the Air Force Gen. Charles Q. Brown Jr. Kendall's visit will not include visits to new partners, but includes stops at U.S. air bases in Guam and Alaska and air bases in Australia and Japan.
Kendall said that the militarization of China in the South China Sea has implications for Australian national security. China has also signed a grassroots agreement with the Solomon Islands, east of Sydney, creating a new strategic dilemma for the U.S. ally.
At a September 2021 "2 + 2 meeting" between U.S. Secretaries of State and Defense and their Australian colleagues in Washington, D.C., Australian Defense Minister Peter Dutton answered a question saying that the U.S. and Australian air forces would have "greater and more frequent engagement".
In July, the B-2s were sent to Royal Australian Air Force Base in Amberley for a bomber task force mission. In Canberra, Kendall signaled that the United States would be willing to cooperate with Australia if it required an indigent long-range attack capability.
"If I saw that you had a requirement for long-range [attack capacity], then we would be willing to talk to [Australia] about it," Kendall said, according to local media. The comments extended to the potential joint development of the long-range B-21 stealth bomber.
"I don't think there is any fundamental limitation in the areas in which we can cooperate," Kendall added.

Well that'a a wrap- the D.C Cross Ecstatic Racquet album tour is complete! Thank you so much to all my new fans and old fans for the support! It was a lot of fun. I probably drove more than 10000 kms for the 9 shows- which is mental..it was all good until the car broke down in Albury on the weekend- keep reading and you can hear about the drama of the last 48 hours in point form!
Thanks to all the nice people, other musicians and venues and sound people and bar people at the places i played at. All thank you for the free beers, dinners and when people let me stay at the venue or their homes for free. Super mega thank you to Dusty Attic Music Lounge , Howl & Moan Records, Petersham Bowling Club, Plantbased Wholefoods, The Merri Creek Tavern , Franks Wild Years, Mounties and the Bridge Hotel Castlemaine (which is impossible to tag on Facebook).
So everyone is always crapping on about stuff that happens to them on social media but the last 48hours of my tour was quite eventful and i think entertaining for others. Here in point form i will mention the unfolding of the events.
Saturday 3pm Show in Thirroul - Sunday 3pm Show in Castlemaine, Victoria - a bit of driving (about 1700 kms there and back to Sydney) but pretty straight forward- right..what could possibility go right :/
•drive from Marrickville to Thirroul - so far so good
• play a cosy show to some nice people at Franks' Wild Years- very impressed german guy says that i am a beautiful musician and play the guitar like John Frusciante from the Chill Peppers - Brad other founding original member of Gerling comes to the show-a wonderful gesture of support
•Finish show in Thirroul and with a broken GPS head on the drive to Castlemaine, Victoria (about 845km's).
•Get tailgated on the Bulli Pass by some tradie fuckhead- a bit of an anxious 10 minutes but make it okay - our faithful 2004 Holden still seems to be okay.
•Drive for 5 hours on route to Albury as its more than halfway.
•100 kms out of Albury car starts shaking uncontrollably - i thought it was just the Hume Highway - so just cranked AC/DC and LANKUM new album on the distorted car stereo.
•60 km's nearer Albury situation with car gets worse- now know it was a busted CV crankshaft (no idea) and apparently quite dangerous
•Navigate car into Albury and call road side assistance. Sounds like i get a drunk Andrew Jackson Calvert type guy on the phone who relishes in the fact he can say that they can't help me and can tow the vehcile to a mechanic on Monday morning. It's 9.30 Pm Saturday night
•Find the cheapest accom in Albury -$66 a night and stay above a 2 floored techno beer barn full of teenagers on MDMA and very loud party remix / techno music going on. The room looks like was last renovated in the 1950's.
•Call the only guy i know in Albury and hit the RSL after Ross Wilson had just played. Didn't see Ross and damn glad i didn't hear 'Come said the Boy' the second most dodgy song in Australian Music History.
•Stash broken down car in Coles car park. Got to bed in backpackers with Digitalism's - Zdarlight blasting through the building.
•Awake sunday morning and hire car and drive to Castlemaine.
•An hour out of Albury a crazed fucktard - Chopper Reid vibe guy - cruising along in a shitbox Commodore with two kids bikes strapped to the back - a blue bike and little pink bike gets upset that i overtake him on the freeway. As im overtaking he speeds up- i was wasnt really checking my rear view mirror as as i was looking straight ahead to overtake- pretty legit an safe driving from me- anyway, Chopper Reid speeds up and whist i'm overtaking and gets really really mad..i do the thumbs up mate sign and makes him even more angrier..he follows my agrresively for the next 200 kilometres.. very intimidating - the most alarming thought of this was if he is driving so recklessly with two small kids in the car (nee the bikes) imagine what he would do if he caught up to me after 2 hours of full on road rage anger. Yep just what i need right now- anyway decide to James Bond him and speed up so he cant see me, speed into a truck parking side station behind a bunch of bushes- wait till i see him fly pass - teeth grinding trying to find me. Wait 5 minutes and commence my ongoing, fun-filled journey
•Castlemaine Bridge Hotel is a lot further than i calculated. And a path i have never journeyed before- no GPS is making trickier.
•3 hours later -- I ARRIVE! PHEW.
•The Bridge Hotel Castlemaine is a safe haven of coolness in all the chaos.
•Meet old friend Casey Rice at the Bridge Hotel and play two sets of my music to people actually listening to my songs- made the ordeal worthwhile and Skyscrapper Stan aka Stan Woodhouse - the kiwi songsmith works there as the barman- equally parts good and evil - that guy is a crackup..easing into the afternoon with a free pint of something, some comedy gold from Stan and a half price healthy dinner with green stuff in it (maybe vegetables- not on a burger bun so im a bit confused how to eat it ).
•Stay the night above the venue and get up at 4am to drive car back to hire car place. Venues alarm system goes off when i'm having a shower…find the exit and leave gracefully
•On the drive back to Albury - around 4.35am my phone GPS stops working and end up on some lonesome unused highway in a State Forrest in the middle of nowhere - using just my instinct to try and navigate back to Albury
•See a giant Pink moon setting over the trees in state forrest - i think heading towards Canberra (no idea) and makes the trip worthwhile
• Two massive kangaroos leap across the road just seconds away from me, right in front of the car- it's still pitch black - i narrowly avoiding hitting them (a split second before this happened a voice in my head said slow down, be careful, i dont wanna kill no kangaroos) - maybe it was the kangaroos mystical vibe -im not sure but seemed like divine intervention for the next 3 hours that we all survived.
•Some how make it to Heathcote, Victoria and get directions to the Hume Highway by a lady working at a servo with a magical hair braid getting hit on by the local milkman (why do all milkman look the same??) . I've never been happier to see the Hume Highway in my life. Listen to Highway to Hell - AC/DC on cd - my close friends mum gave my as a birthday gift she got from her work - a catholic girls schools - the library was throwing the cd out. Also LANKUM new song 'Wild Rover' that sounds equal parts Irish Rebel folk heroes/ Dirty Three and Tool - I'm having a moment.
•Eventually get back to Albury, put all my guitars and merch and amp back in broken car and return the hire car which was three times the amount i thought it would be cause i had driven extra kilometres.
•Get back in my barely drivable broken down car - Monday morning trying to find a mechanic in Albury to repair car. •Seems all mechanic in Albury are too busy- we can fix the car in 5 days time or are on holidays… Stranded far from home….
•Finally find a mechanic on the outskirts of town who can fix the car- drive barley drivable car around Albury trying to find the mechanic- stressing out front wheels will fall off - takes about 20 minutes without gps and hats off the bloke who gave me the best directions of my life to find mechanic.
•Mechanic looks at car and says its my lucky day - they have the spare part in Albury -which is very rare … a new crank shaft (no idea) - and he can fix it straight away ($500 seems reasonable ).
•Wait 5 hours in the belting Albury sun. Eat the biggest and best potato scallops ive ever had (from North Albury) and presto- hand over credit card and Car is fixed. Drink 2 litres of hot Mountain Dew and drive 6 hours and arrive home safely.
• Triumph scene from Rocky -Bill Contis 'Gonna Fly Now (Theme from Rocky) plays out in my head as i drink a beer and lie on the couch. Maybe next time i will fly.
• And thats what it takes to play two shows as an underground cult folk musician in Australia.
• Get Ecstatic
• And please buy my album on bandcamp to help pay mechanic - maybe a Xmas gift, coming of age …. en vogue vinyl experience
•Remember kids, "It's a JUNGLE out there!".

One comes across many different kinds of strange phenomena reported in the old newspapers, but I have to admit that Mad Milking Machines is a new one for me. In 1949-50, the odd goings-on at the Tarcutta, Australia farm of Lawrence "Laurie" Wilkinson had everyone puzzled for months.
From the "Cootamundra Herald," January 29, 1949:
Residents of Tarcutta are still mystified by the behavior of pulsator plates from a milking machine on a dairy near Tarcutta. The plates have been hurled up to 250 yards from the machine by some "unknown power." The occurrences have been reported to the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, but the council has not yet moved to investigate the happenings. Mr. A. Portors, Tarcutta engineer, has asked the C.S.I.R to send a scientist immediately to investigate the matter. Mr. Portors said last night that he wanted to find out what power was hurling the plates such distances at a speed so fast that the eye could not detect them. The plates, he said, weighed 13 ounces, were approximately three inches long, and approximately one and a half inches wide. Mr. Portors, who has been an engineer since 1917, said he had rectified engine trouble in the machine some weeks ago. Since then the plates had continued to fly from the machine. "It is no good sending an ordinary engineering man down here, because he will not find any mechanical defect," said Mr. Portors.  "If a scientist comes I will assist him, and put the machine through its past routine. I think I can make it hurl the plates again," said Mr. Portors. He said no plates had been thrown from the machine since Monday. Mr. Portors denied the suggestion that a power line near the farm might have something to do with the occurrences. Mr. R. Donohoe, of "Innisfall," Tarcutta, who has a similar machine, said: "It is impossible, but I saw it happen." Mr. O. Gorman, of Elwood, Sydney, who is holidaying with Mr. Donohoe, said, "I wish I had not seen it. It was uncanny." Three Tarcutta residents say they saw a young boy moving a pulsator plate with a short iron rod. The plate flew from the machine, hurling the rod from the boy's hand, and imbedded itself In a mud heap 200 yards away. When they picked it up it had an odor similar to that made by a high voltage electrical discharge. The machine was operated on the farm for several years without trouble. It is a five-ball machine. Any one of the plates was likely to go, it was stated. An expert from Albury examined the machine, but it worked perfectly. He said he was unable to explain the cause of the trouble. Mr. Wilkinson bolted down the steel bar which keeps the plates in position, but they still flew off. He is so alarmed at the behavior of the machine that he has abandoned the use of it, and has reverted to milking his 100 cows by hand.
The plot thickened in the "Braidwood Review," February 8, 1949:
While a report states that an engineer has described the Tarcutta milking machine mystery as "fantastic and utter rot," the owner of the farm, Mr. Laurie Wilkinson, threatens to sell out if the mystery is not solved. He announced his intention of doing this to Councillor A. O'Brien, president of Kyeamba Shire Council recently. Mr. O'Brien said on Tuesday night that the people who should be concerned at the mystery, such as the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research, were not taking enough interest in the matter. "It seems to me that they won't send a scientist down here until someone is killed or seriously injured. We don't want that to happen," said Mr. O'Brien. The machines "played up" badly on Tuesday morning. "Mr. Wilkinson was very distraught when I saw him on Tuesday," said Mr. O'Brien. He pointed out that Mr. Wilkinson has a maimed hand and because of the peculiar behaviour of the machine he and his young son had to milk 50 cows by hand. Cr. O'Brien said Mr. Wilkinson believed that if he installed a new machine on his property there was a strong possibility that it would also "play up," and he was not prepared to take the risk. Mr. O'Brien said that plates had been thrown from the machine when the power was off and the works stationary. Mr. O'Brien telegraphed Mr. Graham on Tuesday and contacted Mr. Fuller, M.H.R., by telephone. He asked them both to make further representations for a scientific investigation of the mystery. The Sydney "Telegraph" reports that Mr. Dowsett, assistant engineer of the Southern Riverina Council, investigated the milking machines. He found no evidence to support earlier reports, and in a caustic report referred to a boy and girl on the farm between the ages of 9 and 12 years, and commented: "To those who have seen these plates vanish before their eyes, I can say: 'Look again, but don't look too hard.' "The plates, if found some distance from the dairy, have been thrown or placed in position. Marks on the ground and on posts have been made by man or beast, and the whole situation is fantastic and utter rot. "I would suggest that no further trouble will be experienced, at least with the afternoon milkings, after the termination of the present school holidays." Mr. A. Portors, Tarcutta engineer, completely discounted the suggestion by Wagga engineer, Mr. J. H. Dowsett that a young boy was responsible for the plates leaving the machine. He said one of the original plates had been found and placed on the machine at the weekend. A man had kept a careful watch on the machine, but the plate disappeared before his eyes on Sunday morning. "The man was the only person present at the time," said Mr. Portors. He pointed out that Mr. Wilkinson had only had two trouble-free milkings in more than three weeks.
So. The "Central Queensland Herald," November 3, 1949:
Farmers and others In the Tarcutta district of the Riverina think their famous mad-milking machine has Canberra scientists bluffed. Five months ago they invited the CSIRO to send a scientist to Tarcutta to discover why the milking machine kept hurling off its pulsator plates and other parts, but the CSIRO did not accept the invitation. It told the machine's owner, dairy farmer L. Wilkinson, to send for an expert from the makers. The milking machine expert, as well as local engineers and neighbouring dairymen, have all tried their hand at making the machine behave. All have failed. Mr. Wilkinson, a hard-headed farmer, does not believe in poltergeists (obstreperous ghosts), but he has had enough of the machine. When he wants to milk his cows he takes them to a neighbouring farm, where the milking machine does not throw things at him. Farmers say the machine shows a sort of intelligence in its tantrums. When wire-netting was placed on one side to catch the parts the machine changed the direction of the throw. Tarcutta engineer A. Portors yesterday summed up the local view when he said : "Canberra scientists may laugh at a distance, but let them try to explain these happenings. At first, all the parts flew off in a northerly direction, but when we put wire-netting on the northern side of the machine it threw the parts to the south. Mr. Portors said that the latest happenings had caused many people In the district to think that some supernatural force was at work.
On December 4, 1949, the Sydney "Sunday Herald" devoted an entire page to the mystery. They published testimony from 15 people who had personally witnessed hundreds of metal parts from the machine flying as far as 250 yards. They told of seeing a cast-iron axle weighing 65 pounds lifted two feet off the ground with "a terrific bang." It described how "in an effort to stop the machine from flying to bits," Wilkinson tied every moving part of the machine to walls and rafters. "Yet parts of the machine, both moving and stationary, continue to fly about, twisting the heavy iron dog chains that secure them as if they were soft copper wire. Since January 10, when the disturbance started, every moving part of the machine had been thrown off mysteriously. Twelve of those parts were still missing."
The milking machine was not the only thing flying. Eleven-pound grease tins. Empty cigarette tins. Cream cans. All were seen to fly through the air on their own uncanny power.  Several diesel engines were found mysteriously dismantled.
Over the next few days, the "Herald" went through the various theories being proposed for these bizarre happenings. A member of the London Magic Circle (a society of amateur and professional magicians) was convinced it was due to a poltergeist, with the unwitting human agent being Wilkinson's 15-year-old son Robin.
Mechanical defect? No. Wilkinson's machine had been repeatedly examined by a series of experts, who agreed that it was in perfect working order.
Magnetic disturbance? No. Most of the machine's parts were brass, which is not magnetic. Tests for ground magnetism were also negative.
Radio beams used to guide aircraft that flew over the "haunted dairy." Uh-uh. These beams were believed to be far too weak to cause such spectacular results.
Hypnotism? Hardly. The phenomena had been seen too many times, by too many different people, to make some sort of mass hallucination credible.
Trickery, probably by young Robin Wilkinson? No. The milking machine continued to run amok when the boy was far away from the farm.
A Sydney physicist, Leonard Gulson, delivered a truly impressive display of scientific special pleading. "Thousands of miles below the surface of the earth," he said, "far below the earth’s hard crust, vast masses of molten matter rotate at great speeds, setting up gravitational turning torques about a line drawn at right angles through the centre of each rotating mass.
“Now if the centre lines from two or more of these great rotating masses of molten metal cross at a point near the earth’s surface an increased force or torque will be created at that point.
“And if this point where the forces cross is above the earth’s surface, a distinct lifting and turning motion will be created at that spot, causing stationary objects to be whirled or whisked first upward and then outward toward the direction of whatever force is the stronger.
“Naturally, it is only at very rare occasions when such converging forces would cross in the ether at a point low enough to the earth’s surface to be observed by man in the manner experienced on this farm, and in any case, the phenomena would disappear in time as the moving masses of molten matter harden and the angle of their forces change direction.
“This theory is a more scientific and reasonable way of accounting for the mysterious behaviour of metal objects on Mr. Wilkinson’s farm."
Alas, another physicist snorted that Gulson's "nebulous theory" " "cannot be regarded as a serious solution of the problem.”
Underground mineral force? Underground whirlpool? Black magic?? A "new theory of gravitation???"
The milker was obviously not the only thing going a bit nuts.
The last report that I have found on the mystery dates from February 1950. It indicated that peculiar behavior was still going on at the Wilkinson farm, but less frequently. The cause of the Mad Milker was still being debated.

Useful Aspects of Online Classified Ad Websites
It is more advantageous to use online classified ad websites than using as in local newspapers. Local newspapers are losing the number of readers with the increasing use of the internet. Reading newspapers is a daily activity but, people are able to access all the properties of newspapers without purchasing a paper. Surfing the internet is rather an interesting and easy matter to the today's people.
Tumblr media
In most cases, a newspaper has all of their stories online and this is usually more helpful for both the tabloid and the person who reads. The paper charges more for advertising space because of the bigger number of viewers. A paper reader can now get all information for free, without ever having to pay for a paper again. This helpful facet extends significantly to use the online classified websites.
One of the interesting benefits of finding spatial ads online is that images can be integrated and the advertisements are usually not limited by a definite number of words. In this way, a vendor can be more expressive about the thing being sold, therefore attracting more people to become concerned about purchasing the thing. in addition, classified ads on online websites are generally modified very fast, thus items can be purchased and sold hastily without having to wait for the coming day or week to see it in print. Yet another benefit is that communication is very easy, as one can only send a message to ask for more details about an object they may be concerned in purchasing.
Also, multiple ads are very exciting. Not only focusing on commodities for sale, there are sections for jobs and debate forums. However, there has been some criticism against it as there are many scam operators that use the site to find sufferers and for identity stealing. On that basis, it is vital that any consumer of an ad site takes steps to certify that their private information is not easily available.
With the immense growth of technology, the internet is being used for more and more purposes. It is a great information source and using this hi-tech mechanism it is possible to execute the best possible deals. An astute computer user can use certain attributes like online classified ads to save money when purchasing and make the most of profits when selling. As both newspapers and consumers gain benefits from the Classified Ads Australia, the reputation of online classified ads is only expected to develop.
If you want to sell your items it is the smartest choice to Post Free Classified Ads to avail the local network. The product will get a perfect place to be shown by the maximum native people who are interested in the item you are selling. You should choose a website that gives you a great support as a seller. You are able to sell any kind of garments, furniture, or property dealing with the most authentic classified ad site in Australia to get the local buyer for your item.
