#Lloyd speaks to riyu in dragon

Lloyd swears, but never in any human language. Instead they kinda grumble and growl like a dragon. They learnt it because when they first moved in with the ninja Wu used to curse ALOT. He used to grumble and the rest of the ninja just thought it was normal and just somthing he did but Lloyd started picking up on it after awhile.

Misako can't speak in dragon but she understands a decent amount. She was not happy when Lloyd started copying Wu.

Oh man Ninjago is still going?? I feel so old! I remember when that show started! 😂

It sure is!! :D I remember I starting watching it when I was 6 and there were only 2 seasons out. NOW THERE'S LIKE 19 VHHCGXGXFXFZZZFZFZF- including a 'next generation' series (oh god now I feel old gcxgxffdfzzf) The ninja are like in their 20 or 30s now (if i had to guess- it's my headcanon at least lmao) and we got two new kiddos, Arin and Sora! :D They're very precious and I'm already v v attached <3 (doodles under the cut)

Thinkin about Riyu’s face when Arin left. He looks so pained. Yk, he could probably relate to Arin’s feeling useless/like the weakest link. Think about it. He probably felt like his only contribution to the team was giving a spark, but they stopped needing him for that ages ago (except for the ONE time during tourney where he gave Nya a spark). He didn’t get much training with Rontu before they had to leave, so he still can’t do spinjitsu. Yes some of the others can’t do it either but think abt it yall Riyu keeps getting SMOKED in fights. I bet it’s hard for him to pick up on any of Lloyd’s training either because like. Every single move and technique for the martial arts Lloyd is teaching was created with a biped in mind, which isn’t exactly how Riyu is shaped. Surely most of it doesn’t translate well. And he can’t even speak up about his struggles because a good chunk of the team don’t speak his language, and the ones that do either couldn’t help him or are busy enough i doubt he wants to bother. Riyu probably just wants to belong and he’s not only losing a friend here he’s also losing a piece of what made him feel like he belongs to this team at all. Dragons can be ninja but let’s be honest the others don’t exactly act like it. So soon after he lost his tribe mother too.

Llotion (Lloyd x Source dragon of Motion) makes me insanely uncomfortable as a ship and while I may fail in explaining my reasoning i will try

Cuz there is technically nothing wrong with the ship. Lloyd is part dragon, the dragons are creatures capable of intellectual thought, AND the FSM was a by product of an oni and dragon

So there is really nothing WRONG with the ship but it still makes me mad uncomfortable

Which sucks cuz I usually like crazy shipz and I'm usually all for non human x human ships(well Lloyd s a special case but u get what I mean!)

I think my feelings stem from how the dragon were(and kinda are) treated In the show. In the past despite the fsm being a by product of an oni n dragon, dragons were still seen and treated as little more than instinctual beings and kinda kept like pets/companions, not really treated as pure equals

Like despite knowing they are an intelligent species they didn't really FEEL like it. They felt like just...wild animals

Like their presence was so insignificant and unimportant that u never see fanart of them. And I've seen faanrt of nearly every ninjago character

And even in the current dr show where dragon have more human esc characteristics they still feel more like companions rather than equal partners apart of the team. The exception being Riyu.

Like I know the Source dragons (and Rontu and Egalt I guess) are different but it's hard to seperate the regular dragons from them because the only difference is they speak and the other dragons don't

Like does that mean it's okay to ship ANY dragon with a human(or other intelligent beings) now? Cuz the other dragons don't feel as humanized as the Source dragons (and Rontu, Egalt, and Riyu) do so would that be wrong? And if it's wrong with them why is it okay with the Source Dragons? Is it because they CAN talk? If they couldn't talk would people be shipping them?? Is the talking talking only barrier???

It's all a mess I'm sorry my brain is all over the place tryna process this.

I guess to me it feels weird due to that. The characterization isn't very consistent and so it messes with my brain.

And like it doesn't help that every piece of fanart i have seen turns the Motion Dragon into a humanoid so they don't even run with the full dragon look

ALSO THE FACT THAT THEY RIDE THE DRAGONS AROUND REALLY DON'T HELP EITHER

Guys, What If...... (Ninjago)

So we know that all Six ninja weren't in the best living conditions when Wu found them, even Jay, who freaking grew up in a junkyard.

And Lloyd's part Dragon and Part Oni.

And all Six were basically raised by Wu from age 10-12.....

And Wu himself is half-human, one-fourth Oni, and one-fourth Dragon...

Is it only me or do the Six count as feral kids?

Also what if they learned to speak Yōkai from living with Wu and Lloyd (And their Dragon friends).

And Lloyd wouldn't even have to learn.

So like, in DR-

Just imagine-

Instead of looking through scrolls when they get to the Monastery, Lloyd goes into his true form (Following my headcanon #1 on my headcanon 1-5 post) and just starts roaring, growling, rumbling, chittering, grunting, screeching, and purring (and other Dragoni noises) to Riyu while Arin and Sora just stare in bewilderment.

And what if after the fall on the Bounty (In DR EP2), he got a small cut and the Matriarch Dragon just smelled his heritage in his blood....

And Lloyd just goes into his true form and talks in Dragon- "You can trust us. I have Dragon Blood in my veins, and you can smell your kin on me."

And when Wyldfyre joins the gang Lloyd, Zane, Kai, and Nya have ZERO qualms about speaking to her in Dragon(I) XD.

We have a new French TV Spot for Dragons Rising season 2, and I'm gonna break it down!!!

So it starts with Riyu and the ninja standing, likely ready to fight the Wolf Clan in the Cloud Kingdom, then it cuts to Ras at Shadow Dojo, raising the Mallet of Shattering up high and giving some speech. We see CINDER(!!!!! AUGHGH CINDER!!!!!) smirking as Ras speaks, while Jordana looks off to the side, clearly upset.

We then see CINDERRRRRR(YEAHHHHHH !!!!!) doing Shatterspin, elevated in the sky and knocking Wyldfyre SO hard into the ground it ALMOST makes me slightly detest this sick man! He then zooms down... likely to finish the job... anyways we see Wyldfyre hit the ground and all the ninja kinda just . stare at her??? (HELP HER UP MEANIES!!!)

Then we see Lloyd talking to Nya (I KNEW IT WASN'T JAY!!!) as they're either approaching, or leaving the Cloud Kingdom!

We get Cole and Zane at the Monastery, Cole yelling something out happily. Then we get Sora, Arin, and Riyu looking confused about something, and the ninja in front of the large metal gate from Lloyd's vision, when suddenly Egalt lands before them. We see Sora (AND RIYU!!!) training together, practicing Spinjitsu according to the leaked descriptions!!!

Then we get Arin and RGB practicing some forms as Egalt walks around them, likely critiquing them. We also see the four of them spinning around some ramps while Egalt is in the sky, Arin with incomplete Spinjitsu, and we get a glimpse of the ninja not quite CLIMBING with their hooks as much as SWINGING with them... (Is it Tarzan time???)

We see Rock Monster Cole again, Riyu knocking some Wolf Warriors down, a neat mech flex scene for the Climber Mech, the Gong of Shattering in Lloyd's vision, and Wolf Warriors charging up in the Land of Lost Things!!!

I have more aus, I’m talk about two today.

(I’m feeding yall and myself)

So the first au I wanna talk about is this villain au I have. I like calling him Child in this au.

So basically Lloyd life was pretty much the same up until he got kicked out of Darkleys. He took living on the streets a lot more serious than what’s shown in the show. He didn’t taunt his title like cannon Lloyd. He stole what he needed when he needed, and was trying to lay low as to avoid being caught and put into any kind of foster care or orphanage. So he never pulled his stunt in the village that led to basically very villain. He never met the ninja until way later.

He gained the name Child because he was still really childish, and he was good at what he did. He stole and never got caught. He had a really childish but also dark laugh. He was fast and swift, and became a bit of a legend amongst normal very day criminals. He wasn’t a big bad, and he had no intention of stealing really guarded stuff like money from a bank. He wasn’t a low level thief, but he wasn’t going to risk shit.

And basically Wu asks the ninja to bring Lloyd home, as he thinks that he’s the green ninja.

So the Ninja have to try and track down this random kid who’s apparently their Master’s nephew. Big problem, no one knows where he is. He travels constantly. Using his criminal history is useless as half his crimes go unreported, so they have no idea if he’s at the city his last crime was reported or not. The ninja end up spending weeks trying to find this kid, and when they finally do. They realize. He’s fucking 12.

He did all of that at 12.

What happens when they find him? He refuses to go, and ends with them basically begging Lloyd to go. Lloyd who obviously doesn’t give two fucks about the Ninja or his “Uncle”. Lloyd also hates the ninja guts for taking away his only family member. Lloyd ends up becoming one of the Ninja’s main villains as they try to get him to reform, and he keeps refusing. He goes from a legend amongst small time criminals to one of the Ninja’s villains. At this point, the only one apart from his father. Which just gives him a worse reputation amongst civilians. And the “Child” becomes a super villain. Despite him being 12, and also having no powers (that he’s unlocked yet).

Au two: Feral!Lloyd

So basically after unlocking his Oni form and defeating the Overlord. Something is seriously off about Lloyd. He’s never zoned in, he’s a lot more clingy, he’s more cat like?, and he’s just more weird. At some point, he just stops acting human altogether. He’s basically gone feral. Both dragon and oni instincts are just his behavior. Which leads him to be really overprotective and aggressive. He’s super clingy with Nya and Kai. He hates both Garmadon and Wu for some reason. He’s constantly on all fours.

At some point he grew dragon and oni features. He’s just not human anymore. Whatever happened when he discovered his oni form just broke his mind behind repair. He basically became like a large house cat, that would eat people that tried to hurt the Ninja. And he Would growl at Wu and Garm.

Now the ninjago have to struggle with a feral Lloyd. Oh and then the merge happens. Leaving feral Lloyd. Alone. At the monetary.

Eventually Arin, Sora, and Riyu show up. They expect well normal human Lloyd. They get feral, clearly not fully human Lloyd. Which just leads to more chaos and angst. As the trio tries to gain Lloyd’s trust and eventually try and find the other Ninja. Cause they definitely can not handle feral Lloyd themselves.

A list of traits feral!lloyd has:

• He crawls on all fours all of the time. He never walks on two legs.

• He hates Wu and Garmadons guts, for reasons no one can figure out.

• He can’t speak English/Ninjagin. He only speaks in Oni and Dragon

• He loves Nya and Kai and clings to them the most (basically all of the time)

• Once Sora and Arin got his trust (he didn’t mind riyu since he’s part dragon) they became his kids. Whether they liked it or not. They’re his kids, and he’s extremely overprotective of him

• Once he completely went feral. His Oni and Dragon traits started coming in. He spent weeks coped up in his room in a blanket mountain as they grew in. It hurt like a bitch, but he refused to let anyone even close to him as it happened

• His Oni and dragon traits are: A black an green tail with lots of really fluffy brown fur on it (from the base to end on the top side), he has black and green dragon ears, golden horns, purple eyes, lots of patches of black and green scales, goat like legs that are golden (Oni trait), black clawed hands, a golden scar that stretches across his face, and really sharp teeth.

• He dyes his hair blonde in this au, but he stopped once he became feral

• He doesn’t have wings cause I say so, also I like to think at least in this au he’s an eastern dragon.

Jay has shown his face. Kinda. Actually, not really. But there's only 1 silly guy who could dress like that, and it's Jay-bird.

It'll probably be a while before that's revealed, tho. I give it at least 3 more episodes.

Sora, Frak, Riyu, and Lloyd are hot on Arin and Ras's trail. They have a lot of distance to cover, but they'll catch up in the Spectral Lands.

Speaking of the Spectral Lands: This is where we're going to see Morro again! A part of me wants him to sort of mentor Arin and convince him to go back to the Monastery. Or at least put the idea in his head that that is a viable option.

I'm hoping for more mentions about the Oni and the Dragons and the war. And how it's going to effect the Merged Realms going forwards. Something dealing with that is going to come back up again. Maybe more so in the second half of the season than the first half. Gotta catch up people who haven't seen the original series and all that.

TopHat's thoughts on Dragons Rising

Now that I finally got a good look at Dragons Rising (seriously, I looked high and low for where I can access all episodes)

I have to say.....

IT WAS AMAZING!!!! I already liked it through the clips I watched and all of season 1, but season 2 was awesome!!!

The DR intro hit me like a freaking truck when I first heard it in season 1, but it definitely grew on me and now I love it!! (The iconic weekend whip will be missed tho)

I adore the new additions to the main cast!!! (I'll primarily talk about the main guys)

I love what they're doing with Arin!!! I love how his situation isn't simply a "never meet your heroes" thing (I guess it would be because of Wu) but I see it as "wrong place, wrong time", Arin started out as the ultimate fanboy of the ninja, you'd usually expect a character like that to be some sort of underdog, but Arin hasn't improved AT ALL under Lloyd's teaching while Sora and Wyldfyre did, the pressure from the blood moon and the forbidden 5 isn't helping, and with the manipulation from Ras (which actually benefits his spinjitzu) he loses more patience with Lloyd, strengthening the cycle of the master being rejected by their student. I don't think Arin is evil at all, he's just a child who wants to find his parents at the end of the day, the only person he thought could help him, his idol, let him down. If Morro really is returning (minus the wind powers) I definitely see them having an encounter!

Sora, is my favourite!! Unlike Arin, she has been improving a lot, while she isn't a master of spinjitzu, she's definitely close! I freaking love her design, it's so cute and her personality and style shines through her ninja outfit. In Imperium she never truly had someone who appreciated her, or encouraged her to go beyond and reach her potential in her own way, not even her family, the ninja gave her that freedom and kindness to help her evolve into someone who can win a freaking elemental tournament!! It's just incredibly satisfying to see her progress and be the ninja that she was born to be!! She, along with Wyldfyre, continue the chain of a second chance to teach and do better than the first.

Speaking of Wyldfyre, she's incredible!! She does her own thing and she's great at it! I love how she's basically Kai's daughter now too! She kinda reminds me of Sticks the Badger in some way and honestly I'm all for it. She's hilarious and once she learns spinjitzu and rising dragon, the merged realms better watch out! (Also that little thing with Roby was adorable)

Riyu was fun! It's nice that dragons qualify as ninja too (which makes sense for Lloyd to conclude because he's part dragon) and seeing him grow and mature was so sweet!!

We must protect Bonzle at all costs, she's precious, just trying to live her life as a person and not a spell. If anything happens to her, I'll lose my shit!!!

Now for the og ninja!!

Lloyd!!! Bro definitely needs therapy! I like how he officially became the main teacher this time and now he's leading the next generation, but that inevitable fight with an "improved but now with the enemy" Arin is gonna suck for him lol. But yeah, Lloyd was amazing here, definitely came a long and satisfying way from the bratty child in rise of the snakes

Speaking of things that are gonna suck for someone... Nya cannot catch a break! Though I'm glad that my queen has been getting the narrative respect she deserves since probably skybound (y'know the whole identity as the "girl ninja" or the "damsel") I still adore Nya though, she's one of my goats and the mentor role she has now definitely suits her nature as she's learned to embrace failure and use it to improve constantly. But as I was saying, she simultaneously went through almost losing her brother and basically losing her husband (or fiancé? Idk) let my girl be happy, she didn't come back from being a literal state of matter for this!! But yeah that encounter will definitely be a lot to handle!

Kai was fire, as usual!!! He's definitely a lot less hot-headed than he was before, perfectly suited for a mentor role as well! I also think that it's also a really cool development that, while he was the last of the four main ninja to unlock his true potential in the very first season of Ninjago, he was the very first of the ninja to master rising dragon here, It was so satisfying!!! And of course, Nya was also one of the first here when she was dead last in Possession.

Cole is obviously goated! The new voice grew on me (rip Kirby, you're a freaking legend) also leave it to Cole to basically get someone to switch sides through pure kindness even if they're working for the enemy, looks like someone is getting a disciple next season! Also, I can't forget the Goblin™. Geo's a sweetheart and he's exceptionally creative, he and Cole are amazing for each other (also a certain artist on Tumblr got me to love the poly ship between Cole, Geo and Vania!!)

Zane, what else is there to say? He's pure perfection! He had plenty of funny moments and lots of time to shine as usual. He's my favourite ninja, and if you know how I treat my favourite characters in any media, that's all I'd need to say

Jay... Oh boy shit's about to go down! Agent Walker was fun, Shatterspin Jay vs Nya was absolutely heartbreaking, but Rogue is gonna be freaking insane!!! I can't wait to see how they're gonna make Jay of all people intimidating, I feel like they're gonna pull it off, they basically did with the "and I will always hate you" line, like damn!! This is the same guy who Kai roasted daily?? The same guy that had that game show??? How did that guy make me almost shit myself?? Can't wait for Rogue!! And hopefully he gets his memory back, I miss him freaking out. And also it hurts to see Nya upset about the memory loss while Jay isn't able to remember what he means to her. And also I miss the iconic duo of Cole and Jay (pretty much every ninja pairing is iconic but yeah)

I said... Way more than I thought I was gonna say, but yeah, whatever they're cooking for this series next, I want that and a side of curly fries and dino nuggets!!!!

Headcanon time for this individual Ice Dragon! At least proper this time, lmao

After the Dragons were freed from Imperium, the individual Ice Dragon that remained with the Ninja revealed that her name was Glacier.

She comes from the secluded mountains of the Never Realm's very far north, where there is snow for a good majority of the year save for brief respite in spring and summer.

The other Ice Dragon seen with her in Cloud Kingdom before their capture was a relative, her cousin Borealis. After Imperium, he'd gone his separate way while Glacier remained with the Ninja in curiosity. (Also, because Zanth had asked her if she wished to join them).

Glacier tends to be the quietest down in the caverns. She often only speaks when spoken to or is very curt - not out of rudeness. Mind you, her kin are just very shy in comparison to other types of Ice Dragon seen.

Zanth is the one who usually tends to draw her out of the shell she had around herself - getting the most reclusive member of the flock to interact with others and play games with them.

Funnily enough, after about a year or so with Zanth's constant coercing, she sometimes seeks out consultation from Heatwave on what to do with the feelings she has. The older of the two Fire Dragons often provides her advice when she needs it.

Jiro avoids her for.. reasons she knows about due to Heatwave and Zanth telling her some bits before the Lightning Dragon arrived back home after the battle against Beatrix. She knows it's not something to take personally, but she sees how he trembles whenever her presence causes the vicinity to cool - and sometimes wonders if she should leave despite Zanth and Heatwaves disagreements.

She gets along with Riyu fine, though she isn't really sure what to do whenever he approaches her - she sort of just lets him take the lead in the conversation. It had been hard trying to console him, especially when he came back after hid Tribemother's death and only found her in the caves that the time as the others were doing tasks.

Generally, she and Rockslide get alone pretty well- he sometimes asks her to help freeze his statues until Geo comes around to fusing them. She often joins him in creating stuff out of ice with her frostbreath, finding it... relaxing.

She and Torchspark don't really see eye to eye, but there are times when they come together and talk it out(with a little help from the flock leaders A.K.A Heatwave, Zanth and Lloyd).

Ninja wise, she isn't really used to Kai and Wyldfyre's outgoing personalities quite yet - though she thinks both are very kind despite their volume. Nya sometimes terrifies her with her anger, though Glacier's aware stress can do that.

Sora and Arin are.. about the same, they don't really approach her- well, Arin does more than Sora, actually. He sometimes asks her for favours whenever the others are busy, so she likes to think she's helping out.

Cole she considers very sweet, even if she can tell he's hiding some bits of sadness within - she can smell the Earth Dragon on him- Rocky, if she remembers the Firstbournes grandson correctly.

Zane and her often come together to spend time with each other. She tells the few stories about Shard's lineage that she knows, and Zane resells the ones he spent with the Ice Wyvern. Though another pass time they like is playing some games- albeit it's a little hard for her due to her size.

Before The Merge and everything with Cloud Kingdom and Imperium, she lived a very solitary life - not that she minded really. Her variation of Ice Dragon was often known for living alone. It often works better considering where they live - though she knows of some that do live in flocks.

She and Torchspark are tied for first largest. With the other resident, Fire Dragon, being a little longer than her but not as heavy. Then it's Jiro, and then Zanth in third(she cheats by growing bigger) Heatwaves in fourth, Vigor and Rocklside being tied for Fifth with Riyu and Wyldfyre being the smallest

Characters

Lloyd: As sad as I get when I think about Lloyd growing up, I love what they're doing with him. Seeing the parallels between him and Wu is so poetic and I LOVE the dynamic with Lloyd and Arin. Lloyd is kind and strong and wise and he has been treated so well in dragons rising

Arin: Speaking of, Arin is absolutely amazing. He is precious and adorable and I love him. Sweet polite boy I love you so much you have never done anything wrong ever and I love you

Sora: Sora is fine, I like her but I'm not like obsessed with her character like I am with Arin. I love Sora but I'm never super jazzed about her. Her arc in part 2 was alright but I wish it had more buildup. I think with a few more moments here and there of her trying to use her powers without Riyu would have made the payoff much better. And I know they were trying to go for a "resistance never quits" moment with her speech at the end but. Idk it just didn't hit the same

Zane: Zane I love you. I feel you I also am BROKEN over Pixal being gone. Literally everything about Zane in part 2 was perfect. I love him so much and he loves pixal so much it makes me unwell. Also. Zane Day is now an international holiday

Nya: I love Nya's dynamic with Sora and how she gets to be like. The first positive female influence in Sora's life. Especially because Nya didn't have that as a kid or uh ever so I love that. HOWEVER!!! Oh my goodness gracious give Nya feelings. She has emotions. She has trauma. What are we doing guys. I'll go episode by episode later but I am incredibly salty at how Nya was treated in episode 14. and also. OH MY WORD. WHAT ABOUT JAY. You have said his name TWICE and Cole looked more distraught than you!!! You care about this boy more than almost anyone else in the world!!!!!!!! Why aren't you acting like it???????????? I see you with a lightning dragon but that's like the most we get.

Kai: oh Kai I absolutely love how they are treating you and i also hate it. It's like with Jay gone they were like haha let's make Kai stupid so he'll be the new comic relief! However I love teacher Kai. He is my favorite, the growth, the development, the parallels! Yes! Kai is an accomplished ninja!! He's been a ninja for over 10 years at this point!! He has learned so much and grown so so much since then and I love him so much.

Wyldfyre: I'm about to make a lot of people really mad but I absolutely despise Wyldfyre. I love the concept of Kai having a kid to train (and all of them each having a next-gen kid to train) but Wyldfyre was not the right fit and I just disliked her more every time she was on screen, which was really upsetting because every time it switched back to her and Kai I was already annoyed and I don't want to be upset when Kai's onscreen but she is just so intolerable it made it hard to enjoy Kai, which is so so sad because I absolutely love Kai! Wyldfyre is selfish, arrogant, irritatingly reckless, petty, and INCREDIBLY rude and disrespectful to Kai. I don't care if she was raised in the wilderness. Kai spent all of part 2 trying to help her be better and the most of a character arc we got from her was her. Not acting like a jerk. Which we should not have to be proud of!! Not being a jerk is expected!! That's not a character arc that's just being a decent human being!! I think Wyldfyre's character could have worked in theory if she had literally any likable characteristics but she just doesn't. I don't think I have ever disliked a ninjago character this much which is such a bummer. It fills me with rage every time they compare her to Kai. Sure, in the early seasons Kai was kind of reckless and a bit self-absorbed. But not nearly to this extent, and Kai was still likable. The things about Wyldfyre they try to play off as humor aren't funny, they're just annoying or gross. I'm not opposed to the concept of Kai adopting a feral child, but if the feral child is like this then I don't want it. Replacing Wyldfyre with Skylor or a new character that is actually likable would have made Dragons Rising SO much better.

Cole: on a MUCH more positive note, I literally don't think they could have done Cole any more perfect. I am SO GLAD HE'S BACK I MISSED HIM SO MUCH. Cole being thrown into the Land of Lost Things is absolutely heartbreaking and says so much about his character. Cole, who had an entire character arc over fear of being forgotten ending up in the Land of Lost Things? I AM BROKEN. Dad Cole is back and better than ever. He found a bunch of children and immediately adopted them? Perfection. Could not be better. He actively chooses to remain in the Land of Lost Things to protect them?????? Amazing so in character it hurts and I love him so much. A lot of this season made me remember how much I love Cole. I spent this entire season freaking out over Jay that I forget how much I love Cole and this season did not fail to remind me. His first line being "NO ONE TOUCHES THESE CHILDREN!!!!!" is amazing and perfect and so in character. I cannot applaud what they did with Cole enough. Well done. I am very curious to see where Wu is leading him, can't wait to see him in season 2. I will die mad he didn't get to see Zane or Kai or Lloyd but ITS FINE IM FINE

Geo: I would throw him in with the other characters but oh my gosh. Geo's existence is absolutely perfect. The symbolism?? The metaphors?? Absolutely perfect. Him being a hybrid of two peoples who have a reputation for hating each other being the Master of Fusion, of bringing two things that don't belong together? I am destroyed. It occurs to me that when they first met Geo was probably like "yeah, I'm half geckle half munce and I was exiled from my people since they hate each other and they will never reconcile their differences" and Cole was like "Well that sucks but I have some good news for you" but then Geo couldn't even leave to try to find Shintaro. I am depressed. I love love love Geo based on his symbolism alone, not to mention the fact that his powers are genuinely super cool.

Other Characters: when i tell you I lost my BLOODY MIND when gulch showed up it is a vast understatement. I freaked out I screamed it was amazing. It was so fun seeing Gulch again. This is the dragons rising I love, new characters doing important things and running into old characters we know and love. Frohicky is fun I love him. Lobbo has never done anything wrong and I'm so proud of him for winning the Zane lookalike contest. Slay king. Jordana is uh there I guess, she's boring so far. I will give thoughts on Arrokore when I talk about episode 14

Villains: Beatrix is incredibly boring and I am SO glad she's not gonna be the actual villain. Lord Ras is much more interesting and compelling (is Chima the Wyldness????? Because he is definitely from Chima and the writers are COWARDS for saying anything different). This is the first time we've had a Ninjago plot genuinely stretch across more than one season and I am sooooo relieved that Beatrix isn't actually the big bad. I'm really excited to meet Ras' master. I'm not going to lie I literally forgot about Rapton and had to come back and talk about him. I cannot emphasize how neutral I am about him. He is a Guy and that is the extent of my feelings. Same with LaRow I keep forgetting about her

Speaking of villains! That brings us to the Administration. I absolutely love it. The concept of the Administration is so interesting and I cannot WAIT to learn more about them and see more of them. There's something so interesting and also poetic about an organization of micromanagers being part of the same realm as the Realm of Madness that just. hnng. The Administration is totally sick and i can't wait to see more of them. Which leads us to...

Jay: Hm. Ah. Where do I begin. When I tell you I screamed, I lost my freaking mind it is not an understatement. I think I've watched those same 20 seconds like 30 times at least and I need those five lines tattooed on my brain. I have so many emotions. It breaks my heart. I'm elated. This is everything I've wanted. I'm so mad that's all there was. It makes perfect sense. Why would they do this. There's something that destroys me so much about Jay- sweet, kind, fun, creative, quirky, genuine Jay- in an organization of micromanagers. He is passive-aggressive and sassy and degrading and mean and I LOVE HIM. It is so inherently not who Jay is (except for being sassy I'm so glad he's a little brat) and I think that's great. It makes me SO excited to see what they do with him in season 2. If they don't do him justice I will RIOT. This has the potential to be one of my favorite plot points in all of ninjago history if they do it right, but if they do it wrong I will be broken. He looks so good in this animation, I absolutely LOVE IT. He is beautiful and sassy and it BREAKS ME that they don't know he's there. They were so close and they missed him. No one knows Jay is there. I am destroyed. He's a manager!! He's working his way up in the world!! I am so proud of him. He would buy himself a worlds best boss mug. Everyone loves him and they hate him. I might make a whole other post just on how I need that reunion to go but. I miss him so much. So much. I don't know how long I can wait without them knowing he's there. Go find your brother. You know where everyone else is now GO FIND YOUR BROTHER!!!!

11. Temple of the Dragon Cores - Solid episode? It makes me curious about the lore. Surely either the Wyldness or the Garden are Chima there's no way Chima is separate. There are literally snail people and giant trees. If that's not Chima core idk what is. Rapton is there I guess. The guardian thing was cool. 12. Gangs of the Sea - When I say I spent this whole episode wishing for Bentho I'm not joking. I freaking miss him why didn't they mention him it would have been so easy!! Arin you are so cute and I love you.

13. Wyldly Inappropriate - This episode filled me with so much rage solely because of Wyldfyre. I'm sorry Wyldfyre truthers I am happy for you but oh my word it's just painful. She is so arrogant and just straight up unkind I hate her so much. This episode would have been so much better with Skylor instead. Or literally anyone but Wyldfyre.

14. The Last Djinn - Ok as a skybound truther I have So Many Emotions about this episode. How did Nya know this was a place of the djinn and she was just? Fine? Ok. Arrokore is fine as a character but i absolutely hate what it did to the Djinn. Having a character who has lost their whole society is fascinating! I would have preferred if they made him more of a Ronin-type recluse, where he's extremely paranoid and distrusting instead of just straight-up depressed. All of the experience we have with Djinn is that they are extremely powerful and evil and crazy and dangerous. Switching from Nadakhan to Arrokore was such a hard shift that as a fan it was so hard to be able to enjoy Arrokore as a character. That's not the main thing I'm upset about, overall he's likable and he's fine, I just think he could have been a lot cooler. My main issue with this episode is Nya. Is she just perfectly fine? GIVE HER EMOTIONS OH MY GOSH. SHE HAS TRAUMA YOU COWARDS SHOW IT!!!!!! Literally one of THE most traumatizing times in her life was directly tied to a Djinn and she runs into one and she's just. Fine? There was pretty much NOTHING that alluded to Nya having any sort of history with the Djinn except maybe a little bit of salt when she's talking about their showmanship. A Djinn kidnapped and tortured the love of her life. A Djinn almost destroyed her entire home. A Djinn captured her and caused her own possession. A Djinn killed her (more or less). You want to look me in the eyes and tell me she's going to run into a Djinn and just be perfectly fine? Absolutely not. They could have done this SO much better. Show the trauma. Show the distrust. Show me Nya jumping in front of Sora, show me the fear running through her. Give me Sora asking how Nya knows so much about the Djinn and Nya just can't bring herself to answer. Or she does! And we get a moment of "the only other person who remembers is Jay, and he..." [ACTUALLY SAD MOMENT THAT GENUINELY SHOWS THAT NYA HAS EMOTIONS AND ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT HER LITERAL FIANCÉ WHO SHE LITERALLY GAVE UP HER LIFE FOR] and maybe Sora comforts her! A "we'll find him, Nya" moment. Just a moment. Nya left and Jay fell apart and I hate how Nya is shown to be perfectly fine when Jay has been gone for years. We could have had a little arc of Nya overcoming trauma and distrust and learning that not all Djinn are the same! Okay, fine, we didn't get that. But how dare they let Nya start wishing. Wishes got her killed. Wishes caused the most traumatic weeks of her life. Wishes almost killed the love of her life. You want to tell me that she's just totally fine firing off a few wishes? SHE DIED. GIRLY DIED AND SHE'S JUST MAKING WISHES LIKE IT'S NOTHING? We could have had a moment of Arrokore saying they have to wish for it and Nya being like "NO Sora you can't trust him, they're all the same" and then Arrokore proves himself! Even so, Nya should not have let Sora make a wish without protesting, and she CERTAINLY would not have made one herself. As a skybound stan this episode made me so sad. It was genuinely a good episode but I am so so broken up over what could and should have been. Zane did put a picture of Pixal on a broom though so this episode gets points for that

15. They Call It Doom - YOU'RE TELLING ME THE ADMINISTRATION JUST CASUALLY ALSO SHOOTS BLUE LIGHTNING. FINE OKAY THAT'S GREAT. I already shared my Nya and Arrokore and whatnot thoughts but still. I'm still salty. Anyway this episode's ending was glorious. Teacher Kai you will always be famous I'm so sorry this is the trainee you got stuck with. NO ONE TOUCHES THESE CHILDREN lives in my head rent free and his powerup is so so cool. Baby Serpentine. yes.

16. Land of Lost Things - so you're telling me that Cole has adopted stray children who have run away from home because they felt unwanted and unloved. no I'm totally fine I'm SO normal about cole and his character and the respect he got and the sacrifice of him staying there to protect these kids. I am so broken but its fine I'm fine everything is fine

17. The Administration - See aforementioned thoughts on Jay. The Administration is so cool I love them and I am stoked to see more of them. It's giving men in black tbh. They are so cool. When they follow the directions and find Zane and they're like oh hi Zane! we didn't even know you were here! A) peak comedy and B) when he said "who did you think was going to be here?" THAT WAS DIRECTLY TO US THEY WERE TALKING ABOUT JAY AND IM SO MAD AT THEM FOR IT NOT ACTUALLY THOUGH. Also I don't remember which episode Zane Day and Gulch was in but every moment of that was both perfection and also the peak of comedy. The music when Jay walks on screen destroyed me it was so so good. He is a tired office worker the headcanons were RIGHT. Cannot get over that. I love the look of the Administration, the style, it all looks so good. The concept of a whole organization with an entire division assigned to realm reassignment is fascinating. I want to see Kai's teaching in this episode is great and the parallels between him and Wu were amazing. At the end of the day Jay was here and that gave me enough serotonin to last me a good long while.

18. Absolute Power - I'm not gonna lie this was hard to enjoy because I just wanted to see more of Jay but it was a solid episode. I wanna know what Beatrix' sister's elemental power was. Ras is very cool I am so glad he's going to have a bigger role. Nya and Cole's relationship in this episode is everything to me. They are So Siblings and also Best Friends I love them so so much.

19. We Are All Dragons - good for the Imperium kids starting the revolution, but Rapton being the traitor made no sense. It's like they tried to pull a Kallus in Rebels but there was not nearly enough buildup for this to make sense. I really couldn't care less about Rapton so I'm not mad about this it just didn't make that much thematic sense lolll. I did really like Sora's moment with her parents and rejecting them in favor of the found family, but her speech didn't make sense. It would have hit so much more if she actually explained what ~being a dragon~ means but she really just went WE ARE ALL DRAGONS!! and everyone went YEAH!!!!!!!!!! like girlie uh what does that mean. I liked the parallels but Lloyd's moment was better.

20. The Power Within - I still don't understand why Beatrix wanted to uh. destroy the universe but pop off. I'm not gonna lie I literally cheered when Wyldfyre got sucked into a mergequake. Kai's reaction was in theory great but i am still salty it was over Wyldfyre, this child has been absolutely horrible to you Kai what are you doing. I don't understand how everyone is perfectly fine when everyone comes back from the merge quakes when Beatrix literally went through one of them. I loved Sora's showdown with her parents and I can't wait to see what's up with Ras. I will DIE MAD THERE'S NO MURAL ON THE WALL but WHATEVER.

I want Pixal back so bad. I'm very optimistic she'll be here in season 2 and I cannot wait for her to be back. I'm hoping that she'll come save Zane from, idk, sensing his signal or something.

DRAGONS RISING SEASON 2 SPOILERS!!

I'm trying to just get my thoughts out because HOO BOY

Lloyd, my baby boy, how on EARTH did the writers fill him with MORE trauma - im pretty sure hes going to explode soon - Sam Vincent's voice acting WAS SO GOOD, the geniune panicky breathing put ME on edge and the way he sounded in AGONY everytime another vision came OUUUCH - AND AND his vision/fear thingy from the trials?? Devastating how could you let Wu say the words, writers when I get you - also he was trying to be so helpful to Arin please he's just a little guy trying to parent I love him so much

the SECOND we got told about the warrior wolf masks and them shattering the good inside people in order to get strength/Spinjitzu/power etc my IMMEDIATE first thought was "Arin..." and then they bring up the fact that HES SO GOOD SO OF COURSE THIS MEANS THAT HE WOULD GET SO MUCH POWER AND THEN HIS RUN IN WITH RAS AHHH (also while I know it was a weird like knock-out vision, seeing him see Nya and Lloyd as his parents was cute to me (NOT IN A SHIP WAY DONT BE WEIRD) - Nya has been very "Mama Nya" so far and I'm loving it <3) - Arin's arc has been PAINFUL (in a good way) and THAT LAST BIT WITH SORA HELPING HIM DO OBJECT SPINJITZU DONT I KNOW THATS GONNA COME BACK TO BITE THEM IN THE ASS

He’s overly conscious of his surroundings (since he’s pretty big) to the point it affects his relationships with people. If that makes any goddamn sense. Like. He knows his size and strength have the potential to be physically dangerous on complete accident, so the fact he’s thinking about that 24/7 permeates deep into his brain and he ends up wondering if he’s being annoying or rude or attention-hogging during social interactions too. 90% of the time, he’s not— he’s an absolute sweetheart and is considerate as hell. But it causes him to put the wants and needs of others above himself all the time, unfortunately. It also makes him pretty hesitant to ask for help. (“Am I bothering them? Is this a bad time? Shouldn’t I already know this?”) So instead his main coping mechanism is escapism <- just like me for real

He’s been trying to learn to speak Common (…english??) physically/out loud, bc speaking it telepathically is Really Hard and bc he spends so much time amongst Common-speakers who don’t know Dragon (these people being… pretty much anyone outside the monastery) and would like to go out and about without having to always bring someone to translate or having to like… play fuckin charades just to order takeout or w/e.

Out of the other dragons at the monastery, he is most close with Heatwave since they happen to spend so much time together (Heatwave is usually around Wyldfyre, and Riyu/Wyldfyre hangout a lot; Heatwave also basks on the roof, which is something Riyu enjoys too). He sees Heatwave as a sort of older brother or uncle yk?

Aside from Lloyd’s ninja training, Riyu also gets combat training from Zanth, since in some ways it’s easier to learn that from someone who is Also huge and quadrupedal. Plus, Zanth is a pretty seasoned fighter (she traveled/adventured for a long ass time in my mind) so there’s not always overlap between what Zanth and Lloyd can teach him

He loves physical affection!!! He loves it when the others lean on him, sleep near/with him, hug him, etc. Feels nice plus it reassures him that he’s not some Big And Scary Thing to non-dragons. He certainly doesn’t mind when the others ride on his back— they’re pretty light to him.

Once he gets the hang of spinjitsu, his tornado is a bright blue with streaks of dark blue as well as gold

Once he gets the hang of Rising Dragon, it makes his eyes and wings glow the same colors as his spinjitsu, as opposed to him having some larger spectral dragon behind him like the other ninja do when they use Rising Dragon

He is definitely not a picky eater and doesn’t have any sensitivities/texture/smell issues either— bro was literally eating garbage in Cinder’s debut episode in s2p1 he literally doesn’t care

His favorite color is dark green bc it’s the color of his matriarch’s scales :)) he’s also pretty fond of orange, pink, and red bc of Arin, Sora, and Wyldfyre

He has a one-of-a-kind pair of headphones that work with his crazy ass head shape that Sora custom-built for him, and he loves just flying around the mountains near the monastery whilst listening to music

Yes this means he has a tablet to play said music off of. Yes Sora has also made alterations to it so it’s easier for him to use it (i would say phone but it would be way too small for him to comfortably use)

Ninjago(Dragons rising included) headcanons

•Lloyd has an intense fear of snakes, like he and Arin were gardening around the monastery once and Lloyd started screaming and freaking out over a random orange garden snake

•Sora and Nya love to spar

•Zane is normally ice cold to the touch, not just because of his elemental power but also because he needs to keep his system cool

•PIXAL watches anime, her favorite one is sailor moon.

•nya, pixal, And skylor have girls nights. After crystallized when harumi got redeemed she joined in.

•Jay seems like the guy to have multiple hatsune miku figurines in his room in the monastery. When Lloyd was still physically a kid, he would play with them like action figures(he still does it after the merge since there’s no Jay to stop him)

•Cole is an excellent baker, but if you try to get him cooking… he’s trying tho!

•Jay exclusively listens to frank Sinatra and vocaloid.

•Lloyds been bleaching his hair since he was 9(close to when we first meet him in the show) and now can’t stop since it’s part of his look. The monastery bathroom is very messy because of it.

•Arin and Zane cook together and have cook-offs, and Sora watches and judges which one prepared a meal the best.

•Kai rocks in his seat or standing when he was nothing to do or is waiting for something.

•Cole is afraid of thunderstorms, but not of Jay’s lightning.

•(projecting, but-) Cole is part Arab from Lilly’s side, and Lilly is Egyptian, he knows the language to an extent.

•on that note, Kai and Nya are spanish and can speak it very fluently, which they use to talk to eachother in secret.

•when Zane is angry, he’s angry. He will lash out and ice spikes will shoot out of the ground. Everything’s gonna get way more cold. He’s accidentally almost hurt more people than he’d like to admit.

•Kai is just…invincible to fire. He can and will just sit in fire.

•Kai also has an average temperature of like 112° Farenheit or 44° Celsius.

•I like the idea of one of the DR ninja checking on Kai when he has like a fever or something and are absolutely appalled when they see that this man has a fever temp of 128° F.

•Cole is very durable. he has been recorded breaking 3 pieces of wood by having them smacked on his head. No one is sure if its just the rocks in his elemental power letting him do this or just Cole being Cole.

•MiniPix7 loves circling around and playing with Riyu. She doesn’t have to Pixal to hang with or make big projects with after the merge, so she spends her time either keeping Lloyd company, tinkering with other minipixes, or playing with Riyu.

•Garmadon is somewhere in the world right now with Vinny going on adventures and having bonding experiences.

•Jay tried to learn Spanish so he could suprise Nya at their wedding reception by speaking it fluently. He now hears a lot of weird conversations between the two siblings.

•sometimes Kai fantasies about what it would’ve been like if his parents never got taken. Maybe he would’ve excelled in his Element with Ray’s help. Maybe he could’ve had mother-son bonding time with Maya. Maybe he wouldn’t have had to juggle 2 jobs and a 10 year old at the age of 12. It’s useless, he knows. You can’t take back what has already happened. but it helps him.

•when oni garmadon was taken back into the living world, his good dragon part stayed in the departed realm, so now there’s a random dragon running around the departed realm with half of god’s power and desperately trying to go back to the living world for his kid and to reconnect himself.

•Wu knew about this dragon counterpart before he died in the merge.

•Lloyd will never admit it, but he loves fnaf. Like an unhealthy amount.

It’s wild to me cause I’ve never seen Ninjago be trending this much since Sons of Garmadon in 2018. So I had to question “What in the name of FSM caused THIS much riot”?!

It’s good so far. Obviously it is.

The fear sequence REALLY took me for a loop in craziness.

And Bonzle… I didn’t think she was gonna play a major role at all, but the casual way she revealed her identity… Me and my GF literally paused and went “I’m sorry, WHAT?!”

I also find a lot of relatability with Arin so much, especially nowadays. And right now, I think this arc is being handled very well. I think Arin is one of those characters that speaks to adults more than kids. Ironic. Him not understanding social cues, his insecurity about being inferior to everyone around him even when they encourage you it’s just mistakes and it doesn’t help your case at all especially when everyone seems to have their thing figured out when you have absolutely no idea what you’re doing and why you’re even here-

IM IN THIS AND I DONT LIKE IT

Gosh I hate that dragon teacher. He reminds me a lot of the worst teachers I’ve had growing up. But I think I’m supposed to hate him.

Also, they are HEAVILY building up to Sora and Riyu learning Spinjitsu. They’re gonna learn it at the end, aren’t they? ARINS GONNA BE SO CRUSHED.

So yeah, it’s good. And we know now why it’s called Dragons Rising.

Is it better than season one?

SO FAR, eh…?

I do have some problems right now. I think Dragons Rising’s weakest aspect is it’s villains, compared to one’s in the main show that interact with the main characters quite a bit, these ones kinda just have a handful of confrontations and then do their own scheming thing and let the armies do the work. It’s kinda less threatening for them as a result.

And even then, those armies went after the lost family once, the ninja once when they went to cloud kingdom, and that’s it.

Except for Cinder shattering Wyldfyre’s bones, that’s insane. I’m surprised that doesn’t happen more often in this show.

It’s kinda off to me that we haven’t seen what went down in Cole’s little journey before he’s suddenly back. And I’m not a fan with putting the mech disks in this with no explanation on how they got them unless you’ve seen the shorts.

I also am hoping Lloyd’s little PTSD, or… foresight traumatic stress disorder, FTSD I guess, isn’t resolved yet.

Also WHAT DID KAI AND WYLDFYRE SEE IN THEIR FEAR VISIONS?!?! THAT IS GONNA DRIVE ME INSANE UNTIL I GET AN ANSWER

I need to get my full thoughts once the whole season is done. I always kinda have to do that.

But RIGHT NOW, I still question the hype a bit. Yeah it’s good, but… wow, WHAT happens in these last four episodes that could’ve POSSIBLY caused this much insanity across the community?
