Two years ago, Nautilus was big news. A vast, expensive Disney+ prequel to Jules Verne’s 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea, Nautilus promised to tell the early story of Captain Nemo as he embarked on an epic submarine adventure, seeking revenge on his former captors the East India Company. A colossal replica submarine was built. Several soundstages on Australia’s Gold Coast were given over to it. Hundreds of crew members were hired alongside hundreds of extras. Filming took almost a year. The Queensland government claimed that the series would inject A$96m into the local economy. It looked certain to be a hit; an exciting new big-budget spectacle, underpinned with contemporary themes, based on a legendary piece of intellectual property. Nautilus couldn’t go wrong. Except nobody is going to see Nautilus because, even though it has already been made, Disney+ has decided not to stream it. Clearly, this is unusual. The television industry has a long history of dropping previously announced shows for a variety of reasons – 2004’s animated Popetown was canned by the BBC after complaints from Catholics, 2017’s The Cops was axed after reports of creator Louis CK’s sexual misconduct came to light, and 2021’s Ultimate Slip ’N Slide was cancelled after the crew all came down with a highly infectious variant of explosive diarrhoea that can be spread through tainted water. But Disney+ has a different reason for getting rid of Nautilus: it was axed as a cost-cutting exercise. In May, Disney+ announced a content removal plan designed to cut US$1.5bn worth of content, meaning it substantially reduces the company’s value, giving it a lot less tax to pay. Nautilus is not the only victim: a live-action TV adaptation of The Spiderwick Chronicles was also completed and then axed. Disney isn’t the only network to abandon shows that have largely been made, with HBO Max cancelling the second season of feminist porn comedy Minx just as it was finishing production (only for Starz to buy it, saving it from never seeing the light of day). AMC has also deleted shows with completed and unaired seasons, such as the animated drama Pantheon and legal drama 61st Street, for similar tax purposes. It pulled the plug on its adaptation of Adrienne Celt’s Invitation to a Bonfire partway through production. One US sitcom, Chad, was pulled just hours before it was due to air on US network TBS. Shows are also steadily vanishing from streaming platforms. Earlier this year, Disney+ removed a range of high-profile titles such as Willow, The One and Only Ivan, Big Shots and The Mysterious Benedict Society. Nor is it alone. In a similar move, Warner Bros Discovery has also removed dozens of shows like Westworld, Raised by Wolves, Gordita Chronicles, Run and Love Life from its platforms to save money, as has Paramount+ with its Grease spin-off The Pink Ladies and Jordan Peele’s Twilight Zone remake.

Affordable Housing — An Opportunity for both Buyer and Seller
Affordable housing is housing deemed affordable to those with a median household income as rated by country, State (province), region or municipality by a recognized Housing Affordability Index. In India, it is estimated that a large population is living below the poverty line and there is huge demand for affordable housing. Some developers are developing low cost and affordable housing for this population. The Government of India has taken up various initiatives for developing properties in low cost and affordable segment. They have also looked at PPP model for development of these properties.
The Budget 2017 provided Infrastructure Status to Affordable Housing. The budget also announced a range of policies regarding the housing sector aimed at providing demand side as well as supply side stimulus to affordable housing. Along with this, there was much needed focus on the infrastructure, digitization of transactions and rural housing.
Infrastructure Status to Affordable Housing
With the government announcing the Infrastructure status to Affordable Housing, the Indian realty sector has seen a makeover wherein now it has made easy availability of funding for affordable housing. From the Developers point of view it has made much easy for them to access funds at a lower interest rates and for longer terms, which also implies more investment from External Commercial Borrowings (ECBs) and Insurance Funds.
The demand for affordable housing in India is huge and with such a move, it can be seen that there will be more supply of affordable housing to bridge the gap. The Infrastructure status also means speedier sanctions and approvals. Thus, this will have a more positive impact on the Indian realty sector.
As per definition of RBI of Affordable housing — “Affordable segment means in the non-metros, the loan amount would be INR 40 lacs for the property value of INR 50. lacs and in the metros the loan amount would be INR 50 lacs for the property value of INR 65 lacs. There are six metros in the country: Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Delhi, Hyderabad and Bangalore.”
Affordable Housing and Real Estate– Budget 2017
One of the sector which gained a lot in the Budget 2017 is the real estate sector. A Swerve of measures from those on taxation to availability of capital for developers, were announced in the Budget.
{Image Source- http://outskirtspress.com/webpage?isbn=9781432799441}
Accordance of infrastructure sector status to this segment of real estate will help increase the much needed supply of affordable homes.
For Individual home buyers
Affordable Homes to get more spacious — the area measure for affordable homes eligible for property developers’ tax exemption has been enhanced. Instead of built-up area, now carpet area of 30 sq.mtrs and 60 sq.mtrs. will be considered. The 30 sq.mtr area limit applies in case of houses within the municipal limits of the four metropolitan cities while for the rest of the country the limit 60 sq.mtr will apply. Further, for taking tax exemption the period for completion of project has been enhanced from three years to five years.
With this move, the home buyers can expect the new launch of 1&2 BHK flats more spacious, up by size 20–30%, considering these changes as builders get to pass on the benefit of tax exemption on the profits from projects conforming to the area norms. It is observed that affordable sectors contributes nearly 90% of the demand for new homes.
Change in holding period for long term capital gains — It has been decided in the budget to reduce the holding period for considering gain from immovable property to be long term from the present 3 years to 2 years and the base year shall be shifted from 01.04.1981 to 01.04.2001.
This can be observed as an investor friendly move, which will reduce the capital gain tax liability while encouraging the mobility of assets. Also, the financial instruments such as infrastructure bonds are also suggested in the budget in which capital gains can be invested and tax liability can be avoided.
TDS on rental payments — until now only the persons who are carrying on business or profession having turnover above a certain amount, were required to deduct TDS on payment of rent made. However, the budget has proposed that any individual or an HUF, who pay any rent above INR 50,000/- in a month, will have to deduct tax at source at the rate of 5% of the rent, either at the time of payment or credit. Under this provision, the tax payer will not have to obtain the tax deduction number. However, in case the owner does not furnish his PAN number, the tenant will have to deduct tax at the rate of 20%.
For Developers
Affordable housing to get Infrastructure Status — by adding affordable housing to the 32 sub sectors under infrastructure, accommodating real estate developers’ long standing demand for the same, these projects will have easy and low cost access to funding. Thus, this whole phenomenon can lower the cost of borrowing for builders.
Extension for consideration period for tax on unoccupied houses — Presently, the houses which are unoccupied after getting completion certificates are subject to tax on notional rental income. The notional rent in respect of the flats which remain unsold, shall have to be offered for tax, even if the developer has not received any rent on such flats, only after one year of…

Why Is Energy Efficiency Being Ignored?
Excessive amounts of energy are being squandered worldwide. Vehicles and ships that are efficient consume more fuel than required, electric motors that are efficient waste energy and the surplus heat produced during manufacturing could be utilized more effectively. Furthermore, both commercial and residential buildings waste significant quantities of energy on a daily basis due to the absence of basic measures to monitor and regulate energy consumption.
Regardless of the implementation of novel energy technologies, carbon capture methods, or carbon removal strategies, the most economical and impactful approach to reducing emissions in the near term is through using energy efficiency solutions
As the frequency and severity of extreme weather events increase, energy consumption is expected to rise, particularly for heating and cooling. According to projections, the demand for space cooling could surge by over 300% by 2050, equating to the current energy consumption of China. While the widespread adoption of renewable energy sources may help to mitigate the impact of growing energy demand on emissions, the current trends are not promising.
Considering this fact, it appears improbable that the world will promptly decrease its reliance on fossil fuels. Although it might be feasible to alter this situation gradually, the limited timeframe for taking action suggests that improving energy efficiency may be the most viable immediate approach to reducing emissions.
Efficiency saves money and cuts emissions
There is evidence that taking action to improve energy efficiency is not only good for the economy but also an effective way to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, making it a win-win solution. This approach has been recognized as a cost-effective way to reduce emissions for many years.
However, despite the ongoing energy and cost of living challenges, there has been a decrease in the rate of progress in enhancing energy efficiency. While there has been an average improvement of 1% per year in energy intensity from 2017 to 2020, it is evident that in order to achieve net zero, there is a necessity for this improvement to reach an annual rate of 4%. Therefore, the question arises as to why this desired rate of improvement is not being achieved.
What’s lacking is an orchestrated approach
Despite the implementation of policies aimed at promoting energy efficiency, there has been a lack of widespread public engagement and adoption. While some progress has been made, a coordinated and comprehensive approach has yet to be adopted to effectively address the issue. Currently, Germany stands out as the only country with a well-defined plan to significantly reduce energy consumption on a permanent basis.
The organization has established a goal of decreasing gas usage by 20% through the implementation of mandatory heating maintenance initiatives. To ensure compliance, regular inspections will be conducted. Additionally, large buildings are required to perform hydronic balancing, a process that optimizes the flow of water in district heating systems, resulting in a direct reduction in energy consumption.
Governments should establish policies and promote investment, as observed in the cases of India and Singapore. Cities should enhance their budget management in a coordinated and efficient manner. Numerous cities globally are accountable for district heating and cooling, which, if managed properly, can yield immediate results. Additionally, companies play a crucial role, with many setting net zero targets and striving to reduce their emissions impact. They actively work on the ground and assume responsibility for driving change across their operations.
The International Energy Agency (IEA) highlights the significance of energy efficiency in mitigating climate change, as it can account for approximately 30% of the required emissions reductions. Moreover, the IEA emphasizes that energy efficiency measures have numerous benefits, including reducing global household energy bills by at least $650 billion annually by 2030 and creating an additional 10 million green jobs.
Implementing basic measures, such as installing thermostats on radiators, has the potential to decrease energy expenses and associated emissions by approximately 30%. Similarly, incorporating variable speed drives into motors or pumps within building systems can effectively decrease energy consumption.
Governments have three main focuses. The initial priority involves utilizing more advanced technologies, while the second involves maximizing energy reuse - such as utilizing waste heat from supermarkets or data centers to warm nearby structures. The third priority is centered around electrification, transitioning to renewable energy sources, and enhancing power transmission efficiency. This also involves integration and finding ways to enhance overall system performance.
According to Fausing, there is a common belief that carrying out energy efficiency projects is both complex and costly. However, at Danfoss, they successfully implemented more than 200 projects, all of which had a payback period of three years. Fausing emphasizes the importance of combining strong financial strategies with ethical practices, stating that it is often overlooked that energy efficiency is not only the right thing to do but also highly beneficial for business.
There are numerous cost-effective solutions available. By optimizing the water in heating and cooling systems, hydronic balancing can effectively save up to 10% in energy costs within a year. It has been estimated that reusing energy from cooling processes could potentially cover up to 78% of heat demand. As an example, Danfoss's data center alone provides enough heat to warm 700 homes. However, widespread adoption of these simple solutions at various scales will require coordinated intervention.
The current situation with governments and climate change has been likened to a turning point akin to the moment when seat belts became mandatory in vehicles. For a long time, seat belts were merely a suggested safety measure, but it wasn't until governments globally made them a legal requirement that their use became widespread and lives began to be saved in car crashes.
the urgency of addressing excessive energy wastage through efficiency solutions remains critical. Despite proven economic and environmental benefits, there's been a notable slowdown in progress. The lack of a coordinated strategy, public engagement, and widespread adoption of measures hampers the advancement of energy efficiency initiatives. While a few countries and companies have taken proactive steps, a collective, global effort is essential. Government policies, technological advancements, and ethical business practices can catalyze the shift toward efficient energy usage. It's imperative to realize that energy efficiency isn't merely a cost but an opportunity that can deliver both environmental dividends and substantial financial gains when approached strategically and implemented universally.

Lighting Controllers Market Current and Future Trends, Leading Players, and Regional Forecast By 2033
The performance of the global lighting controllers market during an eight-year assessment period, from 2017 to 2025, is examined in a recent study from Persistence Market Research titled “Lighting Controllers Market: Global Industry Analysis 2012-2016 and Forecast 2017-2025.” The study estimates the size of the world market for lighting controllers and provides crucial information on the industry growth drivers and inhibitors.
The global market for lighting controllers was assessed to be worth about US$ 4,800 million in 2017 and is anticipated to grow to be worth around US$ 17,400 million in 2025, displaying a CAGR of 17.6% over the forecast period of 2017–2025, according to Persistence Market Research’s analysis.
Government Spending on Smart City Projects in the APAC Region Boosting Revenue Growth of the Lighting Controllers Market
The governments in emerging economies such as China and India are focusing on developing smart cities by changing the existing infrastructure, such as old incandescent bulbs and outdated communication systems, and are installing new technologies such as embedded and connected lighting fixtures to impart better living standards to the people.
Also, government spending on smart city management services such as road monitoring applications, environment, light sensing, and advanced energy saving is the primary factor which is fueling the growth of the lighting controllers market. For example, in April 2017, the Indian government announced plans to invest in the smart cities initiative. The Indian government has already allocated over US$ 2.3 Bn to this project in the last two budgets.

Festive Edit ✨ 🌙
This is more of a personal post than a “blog” article, I haven’t received any deliverables to advertise all the products that I have listed here, hence this is not a paid promotion.
“I believe in Evil Eye 🧿 and jinx, there was a time when we would go to Aza & Ensemble and I had a Sabyasachi Patiala set in my fav Coral shade, it was entirely embroidered in net/mesh fabric…”
*I have shared a few shocking things over here*
I still remember we were having a really hard time in 2017, we had literally gone bankrupt and as a family we were surviving on change, we were collecting change from old purses to pay for food, I still remember a friend who was constantly nagging me to join some digital marketing course inspite of being aware of my situation by saying it’s barely for 10k (you should’ve seen the condition of that “class”) after refusing several times she started taking revenge and all, this is exactly why I don’t have friends :/ she was anyway very cheap… and this is probably why girls like me are alone for the longest time while such girls are constantly surrounded by people. Anyway, coming to the main topic by the end of 2017 when we finally got some money, my brother decided to spend it all (cuz he was tired of living on scraps) and I started collecting it, that was my trauma-response… I have been collecting since then ie. December 2017, as guessed we didn’t even have any clothes for Eid that year and my mom got a Kurti from some stall (they’d hosted one mini exhibition at Infinity, Malad) and although they had extremely beautiful clothes over there we had to compromise on the lowest priced kurti, like I said I take a lot of care of everything that I own so I had 2 salwar and dupattas which I’d taken when I was 15 (one was cotton silk and the other was in silk organza) I never had the chance to wear them so after 7 years I finally matched them with that Kurti and no one could make out how inexpensive it was, the salwar and dupatta were also not pricey, in fact to be honest I was okay with everything, it actually doesn’t matter… all people want is acceptance, care & some love for who they are instead of these superficial things, you know how much I love fashion and style but certain things are far more important in comparison. After that whenever I was given money for Eid or New Year’s or even my Birthday I would save them in my “saving’s box” this year, I saved the Birthday money and Ramadan was only a month away so I bought something for Eid… I believe in Evil Eye 🧿 curses and jinx, there was a time when we would shop at Aza & Ensemble and I had a Sabyasachi Patiala set in my fav Coral colour, it was entirely embroidered in net/mesh fabric and it had a full sized net Odhni (I’d rather call it that than dupatta) in the same shade… I had taken it for just 27k, I was probably 19, there was only one piece left in my size at Aza, Altamount, I loved going to Sabyasachi’s flagship Boutique in Fort, I would even go to the old one… when we went there we realised that it was all sold out, they only had the grey-beige colour left and I was glad I got my fav colour, I wanted to try it (the coral one when we had gone to Aza) but a lot of customers were asking for it so we headed straight for billing…I had matching Kundan earrings with that (they were those “inexpensive” budget buys) when I shared my pic on Facebook, a lot of people were eyeing it, they were leaving snide, flippant remarks in a sly shrewd “sugarcoated manner” which made me realise I had to get rid of them, they would constantly stalk me and they were too materialistic, so they were coveting all my stuff and I found that very intimidating, that’s usually the case especially in India, people equate sophistication with luxury & a “rich lifestyle”, they don’t see that some people just want quality stuff or they like a certain style/look/design whatever, they only see things ostensibly for their label and brand names. I still remember when the geyser bursted right before my eyes… back then I was 17, I saw the flames reflecting on the tiled wall as I lurched out of there, we immediately pulled the main tripper and used the faucet to douse it, that same morning my ex “best friend” (who would bully me a lot I’ve shared about her in my tweets/twitter @TheBigBadBook) had stalked me & accidentally hearted one of my photos, she was always jealous of me even though she was from Dubai, people can have money but no one can buy your style 🤷🏻♀
You might think I’m connecting her with this incident but guess what? The same thing happened again, she again stalked me using another friend’s ID who was also very envious of me, they left me several scathing remarks by saying I’m a “loner” with imaginary friends… I’m this-that, the same day… one of the pipes/water spray bursted into my face with flaming hot water (I was again in my teens) I instinctively covered it but my hand was burnt (that too luckily not much, God saved me) the plumber said it was “impossible” for that to happen cuz the pipe wasn’t even connected to the heater but my mother told him that the water was boiling hot and there was steam everywhere… like I said I do believe in getting jinxed, we probably even had a financially tough time because of that, you might think something was wrong in the bathroom lines but trust me, even though it was our common bathroom both the times, no one else but me, I was present in the bathroom and she had stalked me (on the both the days) that too not with any good “intention”, moreover, the geyser wasn’t even connected to that faucet and they don’t go off on their own… it turned on remotely (and then immediately bursted) how?
Some people are very materialistic and gluttonous and they covet everything you have, I have shared more on twitter in my “BigBadBook” you’ll have to wade through a lot of sad posts though… coming back to my Eid shopping, usually designer dresses start from 25k; you won’t get Sabyasachi anymore in that range because he has grown extremely successful now and he’s my fav when it comes to traditional wear, I love his colour palette - he uses a lot of jewel tones for his classic “heritage style” trousseau. I was given a budget by my dad so umm my mom told me to find a dress within that amount and there were outfits ranging from 25-35k but one of them had a flouncy A-line cut and I don’t like that shape at all, I picked a Chanderi Dress, the Kurti which was for 5900/- & Palazzos - which were more like slim trousers + dupatta were all sold separately, it was great but their sizes run large, even the XS was sounding huge almost like Biba… I also liked the other striped dress (for casual wear not for Eid) it reminds me of novelty wrapping papers, the metallic stripes and floral embroidery is so cute, I’m referring to the second photo. The first pic has the pink trousers I was talking about, they had matched it with a Kashmiri style Kurta, it was quite plain and simple and the whole beauty was in their (Chanderi) odhni but realistically speaking, I feel all this should look equally appealing in real life, the images have been significantly enhanced, the embroidery was great but it didn’t have any zari work or sequins, nothing of that sort so they were quite simple, the other one had a beautifully buttoned lapel collar with metallic thread embroidery but it was again more minimalistic… I wanted something fancier like Doris around the sleeve and 3/4 sleeves, pretty frills or borders, etc. much like Karachi style, these were quite masculine, maximum designer wear that you get in India is like that, they have big cuffs and straight lapel collars, nothing delicate or feminine… I like the second one though, it’s quite unique. I love the scalloped hem and multicoloured flowers and even the metallic stripes are looking gorgeous, they’ve matched it with a tissue dupatta. The last peach coloured Kurti is a clear reminiscent of the 90s, they had such kurtas back then, some of them used to come with jackets if you remember… I was a toddler but I have a very good memory. I don’t like the palazzos though :/
I’ll tell you what I had in mind… so I was looking for something more Middle Eastern than ethnic since it’s for Ramazan Eid, I was looking for something similar to what you get in most Islamic countries, had it been Diwali I would’ve opted for Jewel tones or Royal Rich shades, this was supposed to be more of Karachi or Kashmiri-Pathan style… the reason why I included this “inspiration” over here is because in India (although I never wanted to believe or even acknowledge this) but over here, Muslims are still treated as minorities, I don’t want to get communal but even though most brands are aware that even Hindus look for Karachi style outfits on many occasions, it’s like a craze… they are not ready to budge from their Tribal Aztec prints, according to them it has to be strictly ethnic, even their colour palette corresponds to that and this prejudice or whatever is so deeply etched in their minds that every year during Eid they’ll add big banners (online/real life) to appear inclusive and secular but never have anything dressy or festive, everything will be dreary and dull… the fabric that they use for most ghararas is always cotton, the product code will have “Gharara” for namesake but it would be a typical Kurta-Choli, they will always add that tiered “cotton skirt” which they wear in villages and regional areas… just because they don’t want anything which would reflect Islamic culture. I’m not objecting because I’m a “Muslim”, I like celebrating all kinds of festivals, I love Diwali cuz it’s a Festival of Lights and my name also means Light so that’s obvious, I love the decorations… all those dazzling lights and diyas, our househelp used to get Diwali treats for me and my brother when we were very small, she would prepare it for her children and their friends/family so she would get some for us too cuz I was always curious about their pakwan and it was such a sweet gesture, you don’t get such people anymore… I always used to wonder why we never had anything for Christmas in India and I was very happy when they started with gingerbread cookies & pound cakes everywhere, now you even get nativity sets and Christmas decor… *finally* earlier, I used to get all that from high-end supermarkets, had to emphasise on “high-end”, I’m not being cynical but like I said, some people find all these things very swanky and luxurious, they see sophistication as something “opulent” or posh… this article is getting very candid but since its a journal entry, I guess I’m entitled to that much freedom. As a kid when I was once going through Tanishq’s eclectic catalogue I saw different kinds of brides, there was a Bengali bride, a Muslim bride sitting for her Nikah, a Marathi Kokani bride with Nathani & green bangles and a Modern bride with a Diamond necklace… I thought the customs would depend on my future husband and we’ll probably have to hold two weddings cuz I never wanted marry someone from the same religion, I always thought it would be boring, like I’ve said I wanted to have another culture in my house… when I saw those looks I was like, I want to be each one of them haha they are so beautiful. This is nothing, one of my grandfathers had married a Japanese woman and shifted to Japan… when I was 7 I had done a Japanese dance in a Kimono on the song Saayonara and everyone in my family said I reminded them of him.
That’s Anushka from Sultan, I have always admired this look, it incorporates a blend of both Karachi & Konkan… I am born & brought up in Mumbai and my grandparents were also born here, in fact my great grandfather had a two storey spice shop in South Mumbai where they would sell expensive spices and condiments like saffron but he lost them cuz he would bet on horses lol it has become a family joke now, we would’ve been very rich today… like I said although we hail from South Mumbai, my genealogical roots trace back to Konkan.
I love the sharara trim & chanderi lehenga, the length of the kurta is also sharara style and the signature green bangles and ghungru on her sleeves reminded me of Kokani brides
I was not keeping well so it was hard for me pick something, I had a panic attack and my pressure has been down since the past two days, my bp kept falling I don’t know why… anyway I tried my level best to put something together, I was looking for something specific so I had to narrow down my options; I had taken a lightly embellished (faux) silk kurti from some online store long ago for 2019 Eid, it was very cheap, hardly for 1000/- bucks but the fit is great and it looks really pretty, I had matched it with a beautiful net dupatta in the same shade and some palazzos. Speaking of traditional wear, I still have my Sabyasachi dress, I also have an Emerald Green Pathani dress, it has lots of beautiful embroidery on top, it’s a Cotton Silk Kurti with satin palazzos and a georgette dupatta… but other than these, I don’t have much in Indian wear. When I went online, I remembered my teenage years, everything resurfaced right from all those designer shops in Colaba & South Bombay to my favourite hidden gems, I recalled Ogaan, Curio Cottage, Amrapali, Aza & Creo to name a few. I remembered Lion’s Gate and the Sabyasachi boutique at Fort, I had tried his Sari Lehenga when I was just 16 and I had told my mom I’ll wear something like when I’ll get married, it was a net Mermaid cut sari-lehenga (something unusually modern for Sabyasachi) it was fully embellished but not heavy at all, it was easy to carry and what I loved the most was the dual toned ombré colour palette, it had this beautiful Champagne nude gold colour on top which would bleed into a beautiful mauve purple towards the hem and it was around 90k this was almost 10 years ago so the prices were not that high.
Lol This was clicked when I was 3 years old, look at the Sharara fringe, I was at my grandmother’s old house in Wadala, since I always loved Street food my nani used to buy me Dabelis & Wada pavs from Dadar and Prabhadevi which were famous for it and when I was in my teens, whenever we would go to South Mumbai, we would always stop at Babulnath
Hmm… I was looking for something particular and I also wanted to break the norms of islamophobia, so I tried my level best.
I was too tired to buy jhuttis but that’s the only thing which is left now, umm I got a necklace + earrings (I still have to finalise the latter) a Gharara set & batua bag + another choker necklace (I love them and I’m glad they are back in style, I would see my mom and aunties wearing beaded chokers at weddings and all, it’s sooo 90s) I was particularly looking for a choker necklace and Gharara or palazzos… I came up with these two looks, I like the embroidery and overall look of the Aubergine one, especially that fringed “sharara border” on their dupatta, it’s from my fav brand. I got the beautiful Kundan choker for 2655/- thanks to sale/offers and an additional 10% discount… it can easily amplify any outfit
I anyway didn’t have anything for weddings because I never had any friends so I’ve never attended any wedding as an adult, it’s been extremely sad, you know how my friends were, I’ve shared that in the beginning of my post… so here’s my final look, I got this batua - there was only one piece left + another necklace this one’s designer and earrings (I haven’t ordered the earrings yet) The whole look is very simple yet elegant, I’ve added this necklace to bring out the soft gold colour of my Gharara. I love such muted tones and sophisticated colours, they can make your entire traditional outfit a lot more contemporary… The Gharara set has a beautiful dori at the back & it is made in pure Silk Organza, it’s for 5252/- after discount, I was looking for something exactly like this, light and beautiful at the same time.
So I got those two Kurti Sets, 2 Necklaces, one Batua, one Gharara set & One more Kurti Set, I’ll be adding one pair of earrings either these or the Maroon ones and matching this choker with some other earrings (or anything minimalistic) I’ll have to get the jhuttis next time…

PROJECT
After going through the gapminder codebook, I have decided that I am interested in carbon dioxide emissions globally and how they are correlated with the rate of increase in urbanization in various countries. Therefore, I have selected the gapminder data set.
Research question: Are the cumulative CO2 emissions globally affected by the urban ratio of various countries?
Hypotheses:
1. Urbanization has lead to an increase in consumption of fossil fuels such as oil, natural gas etc. consequently increasing the emissions of CO2.
2. Economic growth in developing countries demands for a higher consumption of energy subsequently increasing electricity generation.
3. Countries having a higher GDP per capita tends to an increase in CO2 emissions.
For this I intend to use variables of: CO2emissions, urbanrate, incomeperperson, polityscore, oilperperson, relectricperperson.
Literature review:
Cycling of carbon (C) is essential to processes that provide food, fiber, and fuel for all of the Earth's inhabitants. On one hand, carbon dioxide is the second most abundant greenhouse gas after water vapor in the Earth's atmosphere. Together with other greenhouse gases it keeps our planet warm, with a danger to overheat if the concentrations of the greenhouse gases become too high. On the other hand, photosynthetic organisms such as plants and algae take up atmospheric CO2 in the presence of light to produce organic matter that eventually becomes the basic food source for all microbes, animals, and humans. Carbon-based molecules are the main component of biological compounds as well as of many minerals. Carbon containing compounds also exist in various forms in the atmosphere. Availability of all these different forms of carbon makes our planet suitable for humans to survive.
Although our planet offers a vast amount of space, humans prefer to live in cities, which occupy a small area of the total land surface (~0.5% Schneider et al., 2009). Given the tendency to consider it a local phenomenon, urbanization has been excluded from global studies of the carbon cycle. Yet urbanization trends and emerging evidence of urban pressure on the environment present persuasive arguments for reconsidering this view. The share of the urban population has already increased by 40% over one century (1913–2013) and will increase by another 15% in the next 50 years (FAO, 2015). Land area occupied by cites increases disproportionally faster to the population increase (Seto et al., 2011). Population pressure on the environment is especially high in the tropics. Urban expansion in the tropics contributes ~5% of global emissions from deforestation and land use change (Seto et al., 2012). In addition to that it is widely known that approximately 75% of global CO2 emissions originate in urban areas (Seto et al., 2014). Carbon storage in human settlements of the conterminous US was ~10% of the total carbon stored in the US ecosystems (Churkina et al., 2010a). In China, this fraction was substantially smaller—only 0.74% and this did not include C stored in landfills (Zhao et al., 2013). Although carbon budget assessments are in progress for several cities (e.g., Mohareb and Kennedy, 2012; Hutyra et al., 2014), the overall effect of urbanization on the global carbon cycle has not been estimated.
The IPCC (2014) reveals that CO2 emission from industrial processes and fossil fuel combustion shared 78% increase in overall Greenhouse gas emission from 1970 to 2010. The CO2 emission since seventies has more than doubled and increased by 40% since 2000. Despite of having stability during 2013 to 2016, the CO2 emission have increased by 1.5% in 2017 and continue to increase led by China, India and EU [7]. The lack of policy measures, the emission trends are expected to increase profoundly due to increased global energy demand and fossil fuels being the main drivers of greenhouse gas emissions which will ultimately have negative effects on public health.
Countries in Far East Asia such as Japan, China, South Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand and Hong Kong have achieved rapid economic growth in last few decades due to division of labor and development of non-agricultural sectors has resulted into an increased urbanization. These countries are among the largest economies of the world with majority of their population lives in urban areas (i.e., 91%, 57.96%, 81.50%, 75.44%, 100%, 49.2% and 100% respectively). These economies with high level of growth and urbanization have contributed enormously to CO2 emissions in recent times. Japan, China and South Korea were responsible for 12 percent of the total CO2 emissions in 1980 and 18 percent in 2013. Despite having high level of economic growth, urbanization and CO2 emission, limited cross country studies have examined the association among urbanization, economic growth and CO2 emission in these Far East Asian countries.

The China/US spat hurts Africa and will escalate into WWIII Since its outbreak in early 2018 China's spat with the United States (US) hurt Africa. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) shows in its World Economic Outlook for 2019 the US was first to increase tensions through imposing higher tariffs on aluminum and steel of 25 percentage points on imports of $50 billion from China and 10 percentage points on imports of an additional $200 billion. After China retaliated the US imposed 15 percentage points in tariffs on all goods (roughly $300 billion) that had not yet incurred tariffs starting in September 2019 and a 5 percentage-point increase on already-tariffed $250 billion imports. The imposition of higher tariffs reduce Africa's economic activity for China depends on the continent for aluminium. China's impact increased the continent's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 1 percent. Chad, the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Congo, Ethiopia and Namibia feature in investments while Europe and the US regards them as 'failed states.' The countries had 1.6 percent of the population move out of poverty annually. In Tanzania extreme poverty fell by 5.3 million people. Chad and the DRC saw a 3 percent drop. Since South Africa started a peace process focusing on the DRC and Burundi n 2000 and helped the countries run elections, negotiated with the South African private sector to invest, refocused the Organization for African Unity hence its renaming to being the African Union, and established additionally the New Partnership for Africa's Development (NEPAD) China boosted the initiatives by providing finance. The United Nations names it in all peace reports as the only country in the world helping the African Peace and Security Architecture. South Africa accepted more than 2 million refugees from the continent before this. Now they have reduced by more than 800,000. China brought a new emphasis on development boosting the NEPAD by promulgating the Belt Road Initiative in 2013. Though focused upon growing Asian economies it includes non-regional countries like Kenya, Sierra Leone, and Djibouti. It ‘grows’ its power with them miles away from its geographic space building a vast network of railroads and shipping lanes at an investment in 2019 of $1.2 trillion. All US thinktanks see this as China's efforts at 'recolonizing' Africa yet the US does not provide investments. Meanwhile, the Belt Road Initiative will increase investments by 14 percent annually reaching $1.3 trillion by 2027. China encouraged all its companies and banks to go into the continent, restructured its economic model to move away from cheap labour so the country moved up the value chain of high-quality electronics and new technologies while the US and Europe only encouraged big companies like Google and Microsoft. Regionalisation as initially conceptualized by Britain worked on the basis of colonization. It has no place in a rising Africa. For economic growth to happen with it being at the centre or part of economic objectives all regional players must agree before they each have national economic policies on priorities, objectives, resources, budgeting and implementation methodology. China facilitated that yearly having African policy makers and Heads of States assembled in a single forum with it's own leaders. Throughout the 400 years Europe had colonized the entirety of Africa and after liberation from 1960 when Africa needed help with development it had no such plans and initiatives. It hated the idea of an African Rennaissance and blemished Kwame Nkrumah's image for it. World Bank and IMF officials colluded with the US in hating Thabo Mbeki for reviving the idea. He had South Africa help Zimbabwe boost its currency with the rand and not the US dollar alone. More importantly tensions between the US and China escalate when European economists are now realising because of prosperity J.M. Keynes’s famous economic 'prophecy' that Europe and the US would have solved all their economic problems by 2030 is coming true. He wrote leisure was to be their focus
since working hours were historically to be reduced. To emphasise its poverty Africa meanwhile has not even a Survey of Income to measure incomes after colonization and make comparisons with Europe. The US has high labour participation rates giving a high standard of living that in the case of an outright war will not make US citizens poor but only reduce equality.
Evidence since 2017 - that is before the trade tensions erupted - is the US was given China's growth in Africa preparing for war. All US thinktanks have discussion documents showing US military mobilization in the Pacific Rim pretended to be a watch on China's East Asian ambitions. They did not see regionalisation taking place which Europe and South America permitted through respectively having Britain and the US lead. The Economist's 16 August 2020 publication titled "America musters the world's biggest naval exercise" described the exercise as 'bibulous' showing off the newest US destroyers. The magazine described the relationship between the US and China which was in 'freefall.' The now overtly shown military build up comes as more than in any country and continent the US has 7 million Covid-19 cases and 170,000 deaths. China where Covid-19 it claims originated has less than a third of both. The US's foreign policy calls for military action when its citizens are affected by death while based in another country or the death is imported into the US. Who does not recall the demise of Libya and Muammar Gadhaffi? The pretext against China is it is hiding information on the origins of Covid-19. The Rand Corporation which produces policy and discussion documents for the US President, Department of Defence, and the Department of Homeland Security recently bolstered Donald Trump's and the Secretary of State's rhetoric on the claim. It documents, researches, analyses, and conducts a project entitled U.S.-China Long-Term Competition sponsored by the Deputy Chief of Staff, G-3/5/7, U.S. Army which has the stated purpose of helping the US Army understand China's capabilities and military.
It published a tool detailing air travel data from the International Air Transport Association. This data visualizes how the coronavirus travelled from China between December 2019-February 2020. The tool titled The Covid-19 Air Traffic Visualization (CAT-V) tool has a "heat spot." It has never been commercialised or made known to the public and was given to the Rand Corporation on condition it showed the public the coronavirus emanated from China. It boosts the underreporting claim and uses estimates of importation risk to the US. It concludes air travel interacted to export infection risk across the world and states by late January 2020 exported from China via commercial air travel on a daily basis. One other conclusion is that countries with modest numbers of confirmed cases still represent the greatest risks of virus exportation to the US if those countries have relatively high active case rates per capita and high levels of connectivity to China. The organization specifically writes the tool inform(s) 'defense-related decisions.' It is preparing for WWIII escalating tensions to more than a Cold War. If WWIII takes place South Africa and Africa must take sides. This is because • the US jeopardizes the New Partnership for African Development and peace initiatives South Africa commenced. • food in the whole of Africa will become short since Covid-19 already disrupted chains of supply • refugees will increase • China's obliteration will mean an end to the whole of humanity because high precision weapons will be used by both sides and the US has a military station mounted on the Moon
Before the tensions rose Africa was projected to have a food market of $740 billion by 2027. It will not come. Hence, the entirety of Africa must take sides. Huawei will stop its investments. South African companies are in Nigeria. They will close. Africa and South Africa will have bourgeoining unemployment which will never get reversed. South Africa has because of Covid-19 a $40 billion loan from the IMF it will never repay because its economy will never grow again. Europe and the US on the other hand will keep growing whatever the outcome because they have just respectively publicized agreements for an injection of $858 billion and $1 trillion to grow businesses and give more than 50 million workers affected by Covid-19 income. The entire world will be imperiled because Russia has an alliance with China including India. They are with South Africa part of the BRIC (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) countries. Taking sides means South Africa's national defence force and those of all countries in the continent must start training. Citizens must be told to stockpile food and other necessities and plans drawn to move them to places of safety. This must happen whilst efforts as a priority are made to broker peace. China has since February 2020 been refusing to sign a nuclear deal with the US. The US has been hoping to pressurise Russia to convince China to become part of a deal that involved the three countries. But China has been seeing war coming. With tensions now nearing military confrontation it indeed will be suicidal if it signed including Russia. The US has a military station on the Moon which fact they must consider extremely seriously. So to protect humanity both Russia and China deserve support in maintaining their current nuclear capacity. Maintaining it as a minimum deterrent force is of interest to Africa. In fact it is also time Africa asked both nations to train and equip the continents' separate national defence forces including India. BRIC had better be military. South Africa must use its muscle to negotiate with both. China too has responsibility to start the negotiations if South Africa delays. Tanzania after South Africa has the next best national defence force to train and Libya though it had suffered defeat in the hands of the US's army in 2009. It wants revenge. When the war breaks out Japan, United Kingdom, Australia, Germany, France, and the entire Western Europe will side with the US. Japan has in South Africa investments of R100 billion consisting of 5 different car manufacturers (R60 billion) employing 25,000 South Africans; electronics (R2 billion) employing 20,000. Its Prime Minister Shinzo Abe is reported to have the closest personal relationship with former US President Donald Trump. Trump consulted him closely on the Indo-Pacific. Japan views China in its 2020 defense White Paper as the region's greatest security threat and is responsible for the US's majority intelligence products concerning China's maneuvers there. It has allowed the US Navy to mobilize and gives it at present very extensive logistical support. China deteriorated relations with it for years over the conduct. It has not been able to succeed to make Japan look towards Asia for its security because after the outbreak of WWII the US government invested heavily in Japan advised by its Navy to keep its power in check. The relationship was based on racism for both the US and Britain regarded Asia Pacific as an extremely important geographical space for the expansion and protection of British colonialism that included Africa. It levies extraordinary payments upon the US for hosting its bases. Australia lies not far from Japan.
