I won't lie, the bigger-than-usual eyes and very pointy chin on this version of Ultraman weird me out a little. I'll at least give this a chance before I get too negative about it, though! The premise is honestly very cute and I like how it draws attention to the fact that kaiju aren't "just monsters."

i wonder if SSSS.Gridman had any influence on Shin Ultraman, the reveal of Hibiki not actually having amnesia but actually is asleep while Gridman is in his body is somewhat similar to how Lipiah poses as Kaminaga after accidentslly causing his death and then later offering his life to revive him at the end of the movie. The main difference here being that Gridman *does* think he's Hibiki the majority of the show while Lipiah is just themselves trying to be Kaminaga, and the only thing drawing this similarity in my head is them relinquishing the body back to the original and the audience not fully getting to see how they actually are

The woman was taller than him by half his head, Golden eyes narrow and gleaming as the blinding lights around them shone off her horns. Blue vapour puffed out from her hallowed cheeks when she exhaled.

"Lipiah, It is wonderful to see you in good health!" She opened her arms towards him as if expecting him to fall into her waiting arms.

"Li-Lipiah?" The name felt both foreign and familiar on Kenji's tongue. A warm feeling nestled beneath the surface of his colour timer.

One of the taller men behind Kenji spoke in a language he didn't understand, It caused the woman to retract her arms and rest her hands against her blue colour timer.

"Oh, my stars! I should have known, come now my dear we can get you rested up and properly healthy at the Silver Cross,"

Kaijune - day 22: protect 👽🩶

Chaos Ultraman

A silver giant from beyond the sky! Lipiah, known by the people of Earth simply as Uptraman, belongs to the most advanced race of alien in the universe, the Ultras.

He arrived soon after Pestar along side Bemular, a kaiju which he then defeat, before approaching Mothra’s domain. While the people of earth was confused as to why Mothra is acting docile to the strange giant, Ultraman soon spoke out to the people of his intentions.

He spoke not with sound, his language unknown, yet they understood him in their mind… He bears a warning of an invasion on earth, one that had already started, and he is there to help. He then gifted them a piece of technology from his kind and told them to study it, understand it and develop it in their own way. He would defend them but he would not stay forever, they must learn to stand on their own two feet. As he said this he began to fade into thin air.

True to his words, earth began receiving more frequent attacks from different alien races. Each have their own kaijus that they would control or let loose to rampage. During these hard times, Ultraman would reappear to aid Earth when he is needed, other times it was Gojira that confront the opposition. Yet, there were still incidents where Earth’s protectors would struggle and lives were lost. Realizing this, humanity would make haste in their advancements, relearning and furthering their own technology with that of the Ultras to create and remade their own guardians, Jet Jaguar and Kiryu.

With the creation of Jet Jaguar, Ultraman once again spoke to the people of Earth. He said his duty is complete, he has watched as they learn to master themselves and master the rift. More importantly, they have learnt to use their power to protect not destroy, they will now stand proud of themselves as he is proud of them. He bid Earth farewell, returning to the planet of light among the cheers and tears of humanity.

No one thought they would see their hero, Ultraman, ever again… until the arrival of an unstoppable Destroyer…

But on a character level I have to give it to Lipiah! He embodies in every way the beautiful alienness of Ultras, and the hope and optimism about humanity that underscores their interactions makes me teary-eyed. Beloved giant of light....
