🌸 Cherry Lemon Overview 🍋
Dale (Doug Dimmadome's only child) and Hadley (Ed Leadly's middle daughter) grew up attending fancy social gatherings together (both before and after Dale's disappearance). Weren't super close, but definitely knew each other.
At ages 19 and 16, their dads arranged a betrothal, extended it to each of them, and they accepted- both relieved to marry someone they knew rather than some out-of-state relative of their dads' business associates.
Dale knew Hadley's older sister (Harper) a bit better, but Harper flipped out and said no to being betrothed without love- Harper still resents Hadley for not fighting her betrothal, but Dale still considers her a friend despite the sisters' tension.
After Hadley turned 21, they were married in January 2012 (the wedding planned well in advance by their dads, of course). Hadley was halfway through her Junior year of college and Dale hard at work on his own studies.
Dev was born in spring 2014; Hadley posted a lot of mommy vlogger content in his youth before moving towards travel vlogging. These days, she's gone for long stretches of time, but returns home for most holidays (to film family vlogs).
They're not the most lovey-dovey, but a lot of their interests and personality traits overlap, and they are definitely one of the couples to ever be. Relationship highlights include:
- Hadley's hoarding OCD vs. Dale's neat and tidy OCD. - They are sickeningly cute in matching holiday pajamas. They're also young parents who don't know what they're doing. - Dale can list 100 things he likes about his wife, but he could also walk away from this relationship at the drop of a hat. oh no. - Dale takes his ring off a lot for sensory reasons and chronically fails to indicate he's married, so he keeps going on dates he thinks are business meetings. Sometimes he brings Dev, who is horrified. Half his associates think Hadley is his personal assistant. - Hadley is paranoid Dale will cheat on her, so she'll call randomly to ask if her name is still written on his chest in marker. Sometimes at 3:30 AM because she forgets to check time zones. Things are going great. - They have their ups and downs, but they'd pick each other every time. Probably. Huh... Maybe that IS love.
I enjoy them very much, actually. Shout-out to me sighing and dumping old drafts of Adult Dale being super nervous and shy off to the side because now I have no choice but to play him as a horrible man, sdflkj. Deep down, he's still the awkward, jumpy person I always planned to write him as... he's just actively awful too <3
🌸 Cherry Lemon Links 🍋
- This post where I designed and introduced Hadley and her fairy, Eryx (or more specifically, the reblog of that post with notes about her being Leadly's daughter since that had been revealed in 'fic, plus cute fanart Linzie drew)
- This New Wish liveblog, where I look back at my Along the Cherry Lane character outlines to confirm I did indeed set Dale and Hadley up back in the day. lmao...
- Along the Cherry Lane is my largely drafted but not yet posted 'fic about the human kids in their teen and adulthood years. Once it's revealed on AO3, you can find it HERE.
- More commentary as I debate whether to keep Dale and Hadley together in 'fic in light of A New Wish
- "Lost and Founder's Day" liveblog where I joke about how I think Dev interacting with his grandpa Ed Leadly would go

The Little Lies took the stage last night at the Everett Fisherman's Music Festival with a revamped setlist, an audience that couldn't get enough, and a performance filled with wild energy, passion, and a sheer delight of music into which they breathed amazing life.
Sounds like a typical Little Lies show?
Sure. But somehow the band managed to find a groove beyond high energy, beyond high octane for which attempting to find words to describe them at this level of performance would simply be an embarrassing pursuit.
Even their soundcheck hinted at a somehow larger experience, hinted at more. Drummer Cyra Wirth, coming off a show with another band that likes to test the limits of what the human ear can endure, came to the show leveled up, infusing more power, more moxie, more Cyra... into the Little Lies set.
Harry Wirth III similarly came leveled up with more bounce in his entire body, literally leaping up from the stage and, yes. Bouncing all. night. long. And when he wasn't bouncing, he had plenty of T-Rex in him as he stalked about the stage, prowling his way out front, perched right above the audience on a couple occasions during which all eyes were on him.
Miranda Zickler brought a continued and unbelievably sustained passion to her performance, embodying the music she was singing, channeling it, feeling it, dancing it, physically manifesting the joy and the pain crafted into these songs more than four decades ago and somehow conjuring a new magic for fans.
Andrew Vait brought an abundance of fun, creativity and wild energy to the show, treating the crowd to relentlessly masterful and classic moments of lead guitar solos right out in front of the stage, culminating in his best live guitar work on "Tusk", a song that's a thoroughly unique and thunderous experience.
And then Linzy Collins who, well... I have to be careful here because Christine McVie's vocals are, of course, classic. But as with all The Little Lies, Linzy infuses her corner of these classic rock staples with her own passion, her own instrumental and lead vocal gifts, exquisitely rising to unexpected yet inspired harmonies blending wonderfully with Miranda Zickler's fierce lead vocals on "Gold Dust Woman".
Now...
This Little Lies performance, the first this year of a number of upcoming festivals, featured a revamped set list. It crafted a new fan experience from largely the same classic songs. There were all the songs dear in the hearts of fans, of course, but with more musical connectivity between certain songs, and then this: a particular rarity in the set that not only surprised the crowd but delighted, lighted up, and drew them even further into the performance, especially those who grew up with this music, singing along with this welcome surprise (and no, I'm not gonna tell you what it was... there'll be plenty of opportunities to find out for yourself this summer).
In a way, the new set is a spectacular challenge of how long fans can surf the sometimes relentless pace of this iconic music and how much they can match the boundless energy of this band that effortlessly conjures the magic of Fleetwood Mac without the drama. It's a pure experience filled with an abundance of fun and joy and wild energy from all five band members.
One hundred percent The Little Lies leveled up last night.
Just in time for summer.

Creeps At The Gym trailer released
Creeps At The Gym trailer released
Creeps At The Gym is an ambitious project to create a fun thrilled, nostalgic, horror film, set amongst the neon lights of the 80s (the decade of video nasties. wild hair and synthesizers solos) Writer-Director Will Metheringham had the following to say about the film: This will be the first full-length feature film I will be directing independently, and a chance for me to deliver a movie that…

First Playthrough Log Pathfinder: Kingmaker Part 23
This game is stupidly unbalanced. The idea to juts slap normal table top rules onto evreything was the dumbest idea of the all. Why the fuck can I only try skill checks one time? There is no reason for this. At all. I have to replay this whole fucking level, because you though retrying a climb is for pussys. Not gonna lie, sometimes I have to fight to get through this.
Welp, fuck me. Turns out, I didn’t need to replay this thing, because Tristian already did his job. Goddamnit.
And thus, Varnhold be part of my realm!
I really appreciate Pillars just stuffing the Watcher in a hood and just generally making them a vague figure in any pictures they have to show up in. And not like in this game just shove a generic male character into foreground of the illustrations. I think Linzi needs some glasses.
Kanerah just had a new pillotalk dialogue and it’s so cute!
I am now missing Amiri, Tristian, Ekun, and Lander. My god, everybody’s fucking off.
I’m not gonna lie, I don’t think I would finish this without mods. The fact that you basically have to sacrifice Amiri for a romance with Tristian is just… dumb. When I’m done with this game I’ll do a comfort play through of Pillars again.
Armag looks like a young Durance and I don’t like it.
Nok-Nok knoks the shit out of everybody!
Jubilost, I will uild a shrine in your honour. “Do you think Linzi should have a chapter in her book titled ‘Idiots and How to Convert them into Dead Idiots’? Just look at how much material she has!” I’m not even sure if that was an insult against me or Lander, but goddamnit, I love it!
“If only you knew, young Lander, how much I’ll miss you when you unexpectedly lose your head in this stupid prank. In all the barony, you were the only person who drew more irritation than I did!” I love him. Thank you, Jubilost. You Kaessi, you are the stars of my eyes.
And Lander actually goes directly for me! And critically misses.
Oh wow, Jamand is really smearing honey around my muzzle here.
You can gladly have the Dead Idiot back, Jamandi, but you’re gonna have some scrapping to do, because all that’s left of him is, once again, a rib cage and a pool of blood.

Every so often it's fun to think about our experiences with Linzy the musician when she was growing up… versus Linzy the professional musician. The one who played in two bands at the Sunset Tavern a few days ago Thursday.
It's fun to try 'n make connections between the two. You know?
Of course you can make connections between the Linzys along any part of that journey. For example, I was talking to one of her friends with whom she's sung and duetted at the Triple Door as well as with whom she collaborated writing a song on their last album.
The conversation sprang from the fact they want Linzy to help capture some specific vibes from some of their favorite music for their next album. Which prompted me to tell the story of how, when she was at Cornish, her class was tasked with writing in the style of a particular artist or band. The band she drew was The Beatles. So to figure out the sound, she thinks Oh yeah. Paul McCartney was in that band. So she listens to some of Paul McCartney's music, crafts a sound from it, and turns it in.
Epic fail.
Why?
Because this was Paul McCartney from his latest solo album. Not from his time in The Beatles.
My point though, was that while she failed the assignment, she absolutely nailed the sound of Paul McCartney's latest work.
Linzy's friend was like, "Right?" Because yeah.
That’s definitely one of her superpowers.
Her friend, by the way, is absolutely excited to work with her on their upcoming album... and so I was gonna mention something about Linzy and a thing about collaboration when a bunch of other people showed up just then and the conversation scattered.
What I wanted to say, though, is that Linzy has always enjoyed working with others. She's always preferred, in my opinion, being part of a team.
Why?
Well, I don't know why but I will say that, once upon a time in Jr. High, Linzy went to a school that had a music team. There was a band of musicians and there were several vocalists out front, each at their own microphone. In a way, the comparison of the vocalists to the band was a useful one because, this being Jr. High with each vocalist at their own microphone, those kids were essentially soloists. At least that's the way they seemed to approach their roles.
I don't remember how long Linzy was one of those vocalists but, at some point, she asked to join the band on guitar.
Don't get me wrong, she was perfectly fine performing as a soloist. But if there was gonna be a band, she wanted to be a part of it.
To this day, that continues to be one of her strengths, definitely another one of her superpowers: working with others. Collaborating. Arriving at music and performances that transcend their individual efforts.  And trust me, that's not everyone's thing.
A lot of people simply want to be out front.
That superpower will serve her well across her career, by the way. I'm talking about years. I'm talking about decades. And across all that time, static doesn't work. Not as a composer, not as a musician, not as a human being. We are not designed to be captured in amber. And when you look at successful artists, successful musicians, whose careers span decades... what you'll notice isn't strictly the evolution of their writing and performing but the people with whom they're writing and performing.
And to do that, to do it successfully over a lot of your life, requires a specific mindset. A particular attitude.
It helps, you see, to want to be in the band.
Not out in front of it.
😊

Memory prompt 31 for Jas?
31. Writer’s choice(anon, ilu, I’ve had this rattling around my head…. almost since I started playing the game, thanks for giving me an excuse to actually write it down)
Look before you leap.
It was a saying Jas had heard times beyond counting, a favorite of her father’s when she came home with scraped knees or a black eye from yet another reckless stunt. She tried to take it to heart, but that was easier said than done.
Especially when she saw a friend in peril. Sometimes there wasn’t time to look before you leapt.
“Linzi, move!!” She slammed shoulder-first into the bard. Linzi yelped as she went sprawling and Jas sincerely hoped she hadn’t hurt her fellow halfling. But bruises were better than arrows.
Arrows that hit Jas instead. The one that caught her shoulder wasn’t so bad; it mostly hit her pauldron and only grazed her. The one that pierced armor and flesh just below her ribs, however, that was a different story. The impact was harsh enough to jerk that side back before she could brace herself. Jas gritted her teeth against the pain and swung her mace around to point at the archer responsible as she barked out a prayer to Desna.
Flames arced from the head of her mace toward the target, but Jas didn’t get to see if her spell struck true. Another arrow, from an archer none of them had seen, sank into her chest–deeper than it should’ve with her armor. It was enough to stagger her, take her to her knees as she dimly heard shouts of alarm from her companions.
Linzi and Octavia frantically yelling her name.
Amiri bellowing curses as she charged the bandits.
Tristian’s voice rising in prayer, barely audible under the chaos of battle and somehow still the most comforting.
Jas tried to focus on that, to anchor herself to consciousness, but the metallic taste of blood in her mouth was too strong. She couldn’t focus on anything beyond a hazy, Well that’s not good…
The cacophony of battle around her faded and she couldn’t tell if that was because it was ending or she was passing out. Maybe both. Her vision was all grey and fuzzy around the edges, gradually fading. Her other senses went with it; and she was only faintly aware of the gentle hand on her shoulder and a softly murmured, “Jasiri…” before everything went dark.
She woke up with her hand wrapped so tight around her holy symbol the butterfly wings had left ridges in her palm. She didn’t remember grabbing that. She was also on her back, sheltered by a rocky overhang, with a gentle rain falling just a few feet away. She could see the dimpled the raindrops pocked in the mud from where she lay.
“The others went to check for any stragglers,” a soft voice said when she started to shift. “They should be back soon.”
Jas blinked and–slowly, clumsily–sat up. “Tristian…”
Her armor was gone. So too were the arrows that had pierced it. Running one hand up her chest revealed no bumps that spoke of bandages. That was a good sign.
“The third arrow broke a rib,” Tristian said, answering a question she hadn’t asked. “I was concerned there might be… lingering damage, so I offered to stay with you until you woke. To be sure.”
“Ah.” Jas tested the range of motion for the formerly injured shoulder, then gingerly twisted back and forth at the waist. There was some soreness, which was to be expected even with magical healing, but nothing hurt or twinged more than it should. “Everything seems okay. Thank you.” She smiled brightly, which earned a shy one in return.
“You are most welcome,” he murmured. “I’m glad you’re alright, Jasiri.”
She shot him a knowing look. There was clearly more he wanted to add to that sentence. “But…?” she prompted.
Tristian shifted position, turning so he more fully faced her, and his eyes brimmed with poorly-hidden emotion as he asked, “What were you thinking?”
He was worried about me. The thought warmed her; it was nice having friends who cared instead of traveling on her own. Jas wrinkled her nose sheepishly, her gaze dropping to Tristian’s hands as she replied, “That Linzi’s armor wouldn’t be much good at stopping arrows. I was just tryin’ to get her out of the way.” She traced a random pattern in the dirt with one finger. “Didn’t figure on the Stag Lord’s men havin’ arrows that could pierce armor.”
Tristian’s hands stilled, long, slender fingers loosely wrapped around his holy symbol, and he gave a soft, knowing chuckle. “You say that as if you would have done otherwise were you aware of the risk.”
She laughed. “Fair point. I care about my friends.”
He drew his knees halfway up toward his chest and let his forearms rest atop them. “And we care about you as well. It’s… frightening when you do things like that.”
Jas grinned to cover her suddenly racing heart. “Scared you’ll lose me? I’m pretty tough, but if you’re… if you all are gonna worry about me, I can try to be more careful. Emphasis on try.”
Tristian’s smile felt like a blessing from Sarenrae. “I think I speak for everyone  to say even the attempt would be appreciated.”
“I’ll do that, then,” she promised as they settled in to wait for the others to get back. (Sure, looking before she leapt had never been her strong suit, but maybe she just hadn’t been properly motivated before.)

Inspired by the online Sktchy class I took on making marks with natural materials, lesson 2, presented by @joanmartin. Instead of adding the bleach-dipped leaves to a drawing/painting, I made the leaf pattern on a sheet of colored paper first, and then drew over it with graphite, brush pen, colored pencil and white marker. I tried to stay loose and restrained so that the lovely leaf pattern wouldn’t be hidden. I altered several other papers this way; hoping to draw/paint on those as well.
