I wish I could’ve seen the look on paul face when john said he “missed paris” I know he probably would’ve been starstruck

also John said he wanted to name his second son,Sean “Paris” ……..

"The small talk continued; then Paul, like a man possessed, suddenly bounced up and headed straight for Ringo’s drum kit and began to bash the drums. “‘Let’s play!” he exclaimed.

Linda immediately headed for the organ. “‘Let’s play,” she echoed. They couldn’t be stopped.

Then we had another visitor, Stevie Wonder, who was also recording at the Record Plant. “Stevie, Paul is here, and we’re goin’ to jam,” John called out.

“Okay,” said Stevie. He went to the electric piano.

"Let's record it," said John.

"Yeah," Paul agreed.

That was the first time John and Paul had played together since Abbey Road in 1969, and it sounded wonderful. The team of Lennon and McCartney had been reunited with amazing ease. After they'd run down the song, John turned to Paul. “Could you please tell your organist to turn down the volume? I can’t hear Mr. Wonder,” he told him."

it’s always so crazy to me how much weight is put on John and Paul’s romantic relationships and how they affect the Beatles, not Ringo or George’s.

I feel like it’s always “John fell in love with Yoko”, “Paul fell in love with Linda” and that’s why the band fell apart. Which - aside from being absolutely crazy conclusions that lack the nuance of, y’know, acknowledging Ringo and George (and also the whole host of other problems the band had) - is so fascinating to me because what do you mean it all hinged on John and Paul being together? What do you mean the band was absolutely peachy when Ringo or George were in love but as soon as something serious drives a wedge between John and Paul it’s all over?

There’s something in stating they found other people so they couldn’t be together that implies such a toxic codependency but also an insane jealousy of anything that takes the other’s attention away. Point is I think their devotion to each other made the breakup worse.

It was New York, around 1974, and I think it was around the first time they had gotten back together again. I got a knock at the door at the Pierre Hotel where I had taken over a suite for months and months…. About three in the morning there’s a knock on the door and John was there, and he had Paul with him! The two of them had been out on the town for the evening. He said “Can we come in? You won't believe who I've got here,” and I said, “Wow I thought you two had…” and he said, “No no, all that's going to change.” It was great! We just spent the evening talking. It was kinda a strange thing between them, there was a little bit of distance every now and again. But that must've been the first time they were back together since the big bust-ups. They actually asked me if I'd join the two of them and become a trio with them, and we'd change the name to something like David Bowie and The Beatles because they liked the idea of it being DBB. But, you know, the next morning it just never came to anything.
