Lincoln Castle is located in Lincoln, England. William the Conqueror built the medieval castle in the late 11th century upon a pre-existing Roman fortress. It is one of two castles in the country with two mottes. Throughout its history, the castle underwent sieges and battles. Between 1817 and 1859, public executions were carried out on the roof while crowds gathered below; many of the hanged prisoners were buried in the Lucy Tower. King Henry, King John, and King Henry VIII visited the castle. The castle served as a Victorian prison, but the prison closed 30 years later in 1878 due to expenses. Court hearings have been held at the castle since it was first built, and cases are still heard in the Gothic Revival courthouse built in 1826. Lincoln Castle underwent restoration from 2010-2014, which included fixing the curtain wall, adding a Medieval Wall Walk on the ramparts, restoring the Victorian prison, and building a new vault to house the Magna Carta and Charter of the Forest, with films about the documents. The structure has towers, a curtain wall, dungeons, a prison, a prison chapel, and a shop. Visits from Lucy the Dragon have returned to the castle.

Latest haul...
Well, as you can guess, I made another run at the bookstore. Today I actually got to visit two different bookstores….came home with 10 more books to add to the collection. My hubby and I didn’t really get to do anything for Valentine’s Day because we were both working. So much hubby took the day off from work today so that we could spend the day doing fun stuff.
