Bar Owner!Reader x TF 141 - Part III
Like my follower requested: Finally the final part of the Bar Owner!Reader series. I hope you all like it. It was so fun to create it all for you. I listened to the 5 centimeters per second original sountrack the whole time writing this. I've got happy tears in my eyes :)
Warnings: Curse words (like always)
Captain John Price
John knows already for years that he is deeply in love with you yet he didn’t want to accept it. From day to day it gets harder to push the realization into the back of his mind. If you would feel the same you would have said something already. He assumes you are not looking for a relationship. Probably especially not with someone who is always away on missions. Someone who is always in danger to die very soon. Someone like John.
He takes another sip from his whiskey watching you how you serve your customers. It’s a warm evening and you all hang out in the garden behind your bar. You look so incredibly happy talking with everybody while Cougar trails after you like a lost puppy. Your joy radiates like a ray of sunshine. Behind you the sun is setting on the hills coloring you in a deep orange. It makes you even more breathtaking than you already are.
“I think you should tell (Y/N) what you feel”, Kate next to him says nonchalantly like she would talk about the amazing weather. “Am I that easy to look through?”, Price thought no one would know about his little secret. His ever-growing love for you.
“John, humor me for a second. I noticed how you look at (Y/N) when you think no one can see you. Don’t you think you let (Y/N) waiting long enough?”, Kate gives him an overly confident smile. “What do you know, Laswell?”, John tries not to sound too excited. His heart keeps hammering against his chest. Racing to catch up to you.
“I don’t want to give away too much, but if (Y/N) would have died the bar and Cougar would have been yours. Is that enough for you?”, Laswell lets him on your very own little secret. John stares at her in disbelief. The bar is everything you have ever loved in your life. Just like Cougar. You trust him so deeply knowing he would keep both safe and sound.
Price stands up from his chair making his way over to you. “Hey, John!”, your whole face lights up as you see him coming closer. He loves how you say his name. Your voice so full of kindness and love. It makes his knees weak.
He can’t stop himself anymore as he cups your face softly in his big hands. Surprised you look at him with a slight blush on your cheeks. “You have no idea how much I love you”, not waiting for your reaction John presses a soft kiss onto your lips.
Shocked you let go of the drinks, which splatter onto the grass. Doubts creep in John’s mind breaking away from you, but you stop them immediately as you wrap your arms around him pulling him into another kiss. “What took you so damn long?”, you lean your forehead against his.
Everyone starts to cheer loudly. Especially Kate. She is over the moon to see you happy once again. It brings the two of you back into reality. “I’m sorry for making you wait, love.”
It took John years to confess his love to you, but he makes sure to catch up all the things you two have missed. John tries literally everything to make all your dreams come true. Sometimes he forgets that he is the only thing you ever wanted in life.
He is so very thankful for the joy you bring him every single day he can be with you. You were all along his reason to come back safely from missions, but now John is allowed to drown in your love openly. You are his one and only. The ray of sunshine he needs to forget all the pain and misery he has been put through.
Even if you love to make fun of the fact he waited for years not realizing you feel the same all the time. John takes it with pride, “The best things in life take time, love.” Naming drinks that take longer to prepare after him.
Bonus
(Y/N): So, you set John up to confess finally?
Kate: Yes, it worked, right? But I might have lied to him about something…
(Y/N): Kate… What did you say?
Kate: … I might have told him that you would give him your bar and Cougar if you would have died.
(Y/N): … Well, that’s not that much of a lie. I totally would have, but I’m not that easy to kill.
Kate: Oh, come on. Don’t act like a superhero.
(Y/N): … I took out half of the Russian military, Kate. I am a fucking superhero.
Kate: … *rolls her eyes* Damn it. That’s true.
Soap: *witnessing everything* HALF OF THE RUSSIAN MILITARY?!?
Simon “Ghost” Riley
Simon keeps his love for you hidden away with the rest of his emotions. Everyone knows he has a soft spot for you, but not how much his heart yearns for you. He wants to share his life with you. He wants you to know the real Simon. The one behind the mask. He wants you to see how vulnerable he can be, because he knows you would never hurt him.
“Fucking hell”, Ghost mumbles under his breath slowly overwhelmed by his feelings and thoughts. “Hey, boys. Another round?”, you stand by the table giving everyone your best smile. Simon can’t believe how much he loves you. It almost physically hurts.
Without a word he stands up to leave the bar. The fresh air calms his racing mind, but he doesn’t even try to untangle those confusing thoughts. Every single one of them revolves around you like they always do. How long can he uphold this façade?
“Hey, you okay?”, you followed him outside pointing towards the garden chairs, “Wanna take a seat?” It’s actually too cold to sit outside yet he accepts your offer thankfully. In silence the two of you sit together. You look at the sky seeing a ton of stars this night. Ghost looks at you wondering which god has sent you his way. You don’t try to start an uncomfortable conversation. Not even once you forced him to talk to you. He’s incredibly grateful for the way you deal with his peculiarities.
“Sometimes when I get overwhelmed by my thoughts I look at the stars. I try to remember all the constellations I learned over the years. It took me years to learn that it’s actually okay not to be okay and w-“, you don’t mind holding an one-sided conversation. Simon could listen to your voice all day long yet he interrupts you, “I love you.”
Simon can’t look at you after his rather blunt confession scared to see rejection in your eyes. You take his hand in yours softly to get his full attention, “I love you too, Simon.” There is only admiration and kindness in your eyes. His heart swells with happiness.
You know it wouldn’t be easy to love Simon yet you still did it with all you had. First things first, this man has to learn to trust again. Opening up himself. He lived so long behind a mask not sure how to be a functioning human being anymore. You are always there for Simon giving him exactly what he needs. Patience, love, honesty, safety.
This man would literally die for you in an instant.
You adjust to keeping your relationship under the radar for a while. Not even his team knows about the two of you. Except for Price. He knew right away after Simon confessed his love to you during that night.
One evening in the bar Simon decides it is time to make it official. Johnny likes to flirt with you in a platonic way. “Amazing drinks as always, sweetheart”, Soap winks at you grinning like the childish boy he still is.
“That’s my partner you are flirting with, Johnny”, Simon wraps his arm around your middle as you stand next to him by the table. A few seconds no one dares to say a word. Price leans back impressed by Ghost’s openness, “Pay up, Gaz.” Kyle rolls his eyes as he hands over the money.
“You did not bet on us?!”, you throw your rag laughing at Price. He raises his hands in surrender, “Sorry, it was clear as the day. Had to take the chance to win a fine bet.” Gaz shrugs one shoulder, “I thought you two would be just friends.”
Soap stares at all of you clearly confused, “Am I the only one who did not about this at all?” Smiling you push his shoulder playfully, “Your head is always up in the clouds to notice the small things.” Cougar pushes his way forward to put his head on Ghost’s leg begging for head scratches.
“Oh, that’s why Cougar likes you more now!”, Soap puts the puzzle pieces together way later than everyone else. Simon can’t explain in words how happy he is in this moment. He finally found his very own little family.
Bonus
Soap: So… (Y/N), did you see Simon without his mask?
(Y/N): … No, not yet and that’s totally fine.
Soap: You didn’t kiss yet?! Simon! What are you waiting for?
Ghost: Fucking hell, Johnny! None of your business!
(Y/N): Don’t be so harsh, Simon. Johnny doesn’t know how to woe his partner.
Ghost: … *tries not to snicker*
Soap: That’s right! I don’t know … wait, what? HEY!
Ghost: *proud of you* (Y/N), I love you so much~
John “Soap” MacTavish
Let’s be honest, everyone would know right away that this man is so in love with you. Soap is not someone who can keep things like this a secret. As soon as he lays his eyes on you his whole face lights up and nothing can bring him ever down.
“Fucking hell, Johnny, tell (Y/N) what you feel or I do it. I can’t stand you drooling over the whole table anymore”, Ghost doesn’t mean it literally, but Soap’s puppy eyes and lovesick grin the whole evening make him gag eventually.
Soap would love to tell you what he feels, but is just way too scared to lose you. “Just rip it off like a band-aid”, Gaz isn’t really the right one to give out flirt tips yet he does it anyways. Gaz and Ghost would team up against Soap; teasing him non-stop to push him to his limits so he would finally confess his undying love for you. “Boys, please, leave the poor lovesick baby alone”, Price smiles into his whiskey knowing exactly what he’s doing.
Soap stands up from his chair without a further word making his way towards the good old jukebox. He choses the first song he played over and over again to annoy you. It’s also actually the song that reminds him off you. When Soap is away from you he is always listening to this song.
You can’t help yourself from yelling out an amused “Johnny!” as you make your way towards him. A slight smile appears on his lips as he falls over and over in love with you once again. It is the first time you ever called him Johnny and it’s the most beautiful sound he has ever heard.
He grabs your hands in his to overplay how hard they are actually shaking. The nervousness is eating at him, “Just listen for a second. I really need to get this off of my chest … Then you can yell at me or whatever.”
“The first time I ever saw you has burned into my mind, because it was the best moment in my whole life. You are a ray of sunshine. Every time I’m with you I experience so much happiness and joy like I could hug the entire world. If I could I would drown in this feeling for the rest of my life… Not that I’m proposing… I mean if you want me to I-I … Oh shit…”
Everything started out so good for him, then he starts to stumble upon his own words. Still Johnny keeps pouring his heart into his one-sided speech, “I really like you, (Y/N). I’m not the best catch out there I know but I pro-…”
You cut his rambling off with a brief but meaningful kiss. “You talk way too much sometimes, Johnny”, you wink at him grinning and the whole bar interrupts your moment with cheering. Cougar makes him way in between the two of you to share some of the love.
This man worships the ground you walk on and would do everything for you. Sometimes Soap is a bit childish, but it doesn’t bother you at all. It reminds you to enjoy the life how it is and don’t worry too much. He still loves to get on your nerves with doing stupid shit. Here and there Soap even teams up with Gaz to make it double trouble.
“Sweetie, you love me, right?” – “You are god damn lucky you are cute, Johnny…”
Johnny is literally moving in with you after the two of you start dating. You can’t convince me otherwise. Being always by your side is his way of love language. Of course, you are not mad about having him around you all the time.
But the most important thing is that you bring Johnny peace and happiness. For the first time in forever he learns what being in love with someone really means. Having a reason to come back in one piece from missions. Johnny loves wrapping you up in his arms for sure being the happiest man on earth.
“I love you so damn much, (Y/N).” – “I love you too, Johnny.”
Bonus
Can’t forget about the most important fact of your relationship. Sharing your lovely Scottish man with your dog…
Johnny: Don’t look at me like that. I love you so much, Cougar. You are my number one.
You: … Do you want some alone time with my dog, Johnny?”
Johnny: No, no, you can stay if you want :)
You: … -.-
Kyle “Gaz” Garrick
Gaz is quite decent hiding his growing feelings for you behind his poker face. No one knows how much it costs him to keep up his coolness. He lost completely control over his own body. You entering the room is enough for him to turn into a blushing mess How is he supposed to tell you what he feels without making a fool out of himself?
Silently sighing Gaz downs his drink in one single sip. He hates how easy everyone seems to interact with you. Soap always makes you laugh with his jokes, while he can’t even make a conversation without starting to ramble or stutter.
Gaz only wants to let you know how much you mean to him. That you make his life so much better. You are literally perfection and out of his league. Why does he even bother to try? His desperation reaches another level.
Only alcohol can help him now. He downs another drink earning a concerned glance from Price, “You okay?” With a slight smile on his lips Gaz stands up, “Never have been better, Cap.” John just witnessed him downing two handful of drinks within an hour. He is clearly not okay, but maybe Gaz reached finally the level where he will confess his love to you. Price will keep an eye on him from afar.
“Hey there”, you greet Gaz with a smile that lights his whole world up. He hops onto the bar stool almost falling over with the whole thing trying to be cool. “Are you drunk?”, you have never seen him like that before ever again. Gaz usually knows his limits.
“No, not drunk. Only a bit tipsy”, an overly confident grin is plastered on his face. Knowing what an effect you have on him you lean forward pulling him closer towards you by his shirt collar, “Then proof it.” His eyes widen full of panic for a second, while his heart skips a beat just to double up the speed afterwards.
“If I would be drunk I would tell you how perfect you are. I would tell you how much love I have in my heart for you. There is a space in there that is shaped exactly like you. Being near you makes me so damn happy I have never been before. I could drown in your lovely eyes. This must be true love…. But I’m not drunk so therefore I’m not telling you all of this.”
His truthful words leave you shocked. A slight blush appears on your cheeks.
“Well, you just said it out loud, buddy”, Soap just stands a few centimeters away from the two of you witnessing everything. Realization hits Gaz like a baseball bat in his face. His drunk ass just confessed not knowing he spoke all of his thoughts out loud?!
“Soap!”, you throw your rag at him. Without a further word Gaz stands up bailing out completely sober now and makes his way out of the bar. “Oh no, for sure not!”, Price grabs him by his shoulders and guides Gaz back to the counter, where you are still standing.
“Don’t you dare to run away from me ever again”, you grab his chin to place a kiss onto his lips. Soap giggles in the background, Ghost makes fake gag sounds and Price just rolls his eyes, “Get a room, kids.”
Gaz still can’t believe his luck even after weeks of dating. You are the only good thing in his life and he would give everything to make you happy. Which means he lives his romantic side to its fullest. Planning out dates like almost every week. Burying you under a wave of presents he thinks you might like. Writing you pages and pages of meaningful words hoping you can understand what you mean to him.
But as soon as his ass is planted in the bar he turns into a literal child. Bickering with Soap about the jukebox. Making bets with him who can annoy you the worst. Sneaking drinks behind your back and so on. He even teams up with Soap AND Cougar singing songs from the jukebox. Well, Cougar only barks away happily having a blast with Gaz by his side.
“You are all grounded for the rest of the week!” – “No, baby! I love you! You know that, right? RIGHT?! BABY!”
Bonus
Gaz: … Thank you, Captain, for giving me the push I needed.
Price: You are welcome, kid… but please stay away from the alcohol.
Soap: … What about me? I helped too!
Gaz: You made everything worse!
Soap: I did not! You wanted to run away!
Gaz and Soap: *start pushing each other*
Price: Boys, behave.
(Y/N): … I love all of you, but bloody hell what did I get myself into?

My K-dramas list
LOVED:
Crash Landing on You (사랑의 불시착, 2019-20, 16 eps) This drama is my n1! It made me feel thigs and made me cry a lot. I enjoyed the found family aspect and the story was so different so far what I've watched. I was rooting for the couple so much and the fact they're married in real life! Chef kiss!
No gain No love (손해 보기 싫어서, 2024, 12 eps) Every episode was delight. I fell in love with main couple love story. Their chemistry was magnificent. Second couple had more screen time in my opinion, I was cheering for them, but my heart was stolen by Son Hae-yeong and Kim Ji-wook.I enjoyed the family aspect of it too! And it should've had at least 16 episodes, it ended so quickly. Hope they'll make more stories like this one!
Goblin (쓸쓸하고 찬란하神-도깨비, 2016-17, 16 eps.) Drama which made me watched other kdramas! I loved everything about it, the story, characters and the sountrack.
Doom at your service (어느 날 우리 집 현관으로 멸망이 들어왔다, 2021, 16 eps) The story premise was so good. I enjoyed every second of it. Only thing I didn't love that much was second couple, Na Ji-na was acting so childish.
Tomorrow (내일, 2022, 16 eps) every episode was masterpiece, every episode made me cry because the topics which have been shown was sad reality for so many people. The team was excellent, the chemistry between them was so nice. The camera, the script - I love every episode so much. Definitely need to check out webtoon comics.
Hometown Cha-Cha-Cha (갯마을 차차차, 2021, 16 eps) I really liked Shin Min-a acting in No gain no love, so of course I watched other drama with her. Enjoyed the story, the chemistry between her and Kim Son-ho, the people from the town. It was such a nice drama!
Marry My Husband (내 남편과 결혼해줘, 2024, 16 eps) I didn't plan to watch it, because the concept was same as Perfect Marriage Revenge. But it was so much better than PMR. It had revenge with R. I couldn't stop watching after episode 1, that addictive it was. The chemistry between couple was so good, side characters were loveable and the villains were amazing - I hated them with my whole soul, the actors did good job. And Yoo Ji-hyuk became my another favorite husband material.
Strong Woman Do Bong-soon (힘쎈 여자 도봉순, 2017, 16 eps) I started it because of Park Bo-yeong, but finished it because of Park Hyung-sik - his character Ahn Min-hyuk stole my heart. Overall I enjoyed it a lot. I binged it how intrigued I was. It had comedy, crime investgation what I should wish for more. The acting of main characters were flawless!
A Business Proposal (사내 맞선, 2022, 12 eps) My first kdrama ever. I enjoyed about it how feel good this drama was. After watching some Turkish dramas where unnecesary drama was made, it was fresh air for me. I loved the friendship so much! And the family dynamic was nice, too.
Enjoyed:
Shooting Stars (별똥별, 2022, 16 eps) I got crush on Kim Young-dae after watching No gan no love. Unfortunately I didn't love this drama, but I had a really good time. I enjoy the story setting, it shows how messed up is the entertainment industry in South Korea. The comedy was so good. I wasn't satisfied with how some plots were handled in the end. Overall it was fun drama!
Extraordinary Attorney Woo (이상한 변호사 우영우, 2022, 16 eps (S1)) I enjoyed every case. Joon-ho is such a green forest!
Love next door (엄마 친구 아들, 2024, 16 eps) I enjoyed chemistry between charcters and also trope friends into lovers, which was executed so nicely. Enjoyed important messages in it, BUT a few last episodes was dragging to me. I guess, I lost interest in the end. But I was so rooting for second couple, so I needed to finish it. This gonna be my first kdrama where I prefer second couple more.
Cinderella at 2 am (새벽 2시의 신데렐라, 2024, 10 eps) beginning started so high and it went down half way through the show, which was a shame. This is my second noona show (found out there's a name for older woman, younger man show recently) Moon Sang-min was such a cutie in the show. Most people prefer second couple and I don't blame them, but I love main couple, they were such cute idiots and I was there for it. But if I should choose only 1 drama with noona theme...No gain No love did it better in whole picture (characters, story itself).
Wedding Impossible (웨딩 임파서블, 2024, 12 eps) I had the same problem as with Cinderella at 2 am, it had a really good beginning but in the halfway it got a little dragged. Especially didn't enjoy what they did Dohan's story, I was picked this show up especially with the premise FL helps her friend and becomes his fake bride because he's gay. This theme wasn't handle very good. I started it because of Moon Sang-min and stayed because of him, because hist character Lee Ji-han was overdramatic and I was here for it! I was also in awe with FL Na Ah Jung - I love abour her she doesn't give a damn and tells you what she thinks!
Liked:
Perfect Marriage Revenge (완벽한 결혼의 정석 (, 2023, 12 eps.) It had so much potential, but it didn't live up to it. I enjoyed ML, he was another green forest. But I was expecting a little more satisfying revenge from FL. Nervertheless it was solid drama, I like it.
#my kdrama list what I watched#Perfect Marriage Revenge#extraordinary attorney woo#shooting stars#crash landing on you#goblin kdrama#no gain no love#a business proposal#hometown cha cha cha#doom at your service#marry my husband#love next door#cinderella at 2am#strong woman do bong soon#wedding impossible#tomorrow kdrama

Spring Awakening Fandom Tag
(By @winter-asleepening )
1. How were you introduced to the show?
2007(?) OBC sountrack on compact disk gift from a friend.
2. Seen a production live?
My honest answer is going to get me in trouble around Question 17, isn't it.
3. Dream role/character you relate to most
Ilse Neumann.
4. Favorite male character
Moritz.
5. Favorite female character
Ilse. Is that redundant with Question 3? Martha, then.
6. Deaf West Revival or Original Broadway Cast?
The OBC soundtrack got me through a very rough time in my life, but as far as the cast goes I'm going to say the Deaf West revival cast. I'm glad it was revived, I'm glad that cast is cast in that cast, and I'm glad they're the introduction for a new generation of Guilty Ones.
7. Favorite song
I love them all equally.
8. Least favorite song
...I don't care for Mirror Blue Night.
9. Favorite quote/line
I'm more of a melody person than a lyrics person.
10. Favorite TV performance
Deaf West Touch Me THEY TURNED INTO A BOAT
11. Favorite cast member(s)
I don't really play favorites with cast members, I just try to find what each new actor brings into the role.
12. Favorite cast member moment
I don't really follow the behind the scenes anecdotes either, but Jonathan Groff forgetting the lyrics to Left Behind except for "all things" is as inspirational as it is horrific to imagine going through. If he can get through that and live to tell the tale, then I can get through a bad day.
Also every time Michael Arden says, "All my best ideas come from [ Andy Mientus ]" is like d'aww they're cute together.
13. Do you write fan fiction?
In this fandom, no, I'm more of a reader.
14. Do you make fan art?
I could.
15. Do you cosplay?
Not really...I don't like the late 19th century fashions? I'm more of a Merveilleuse type (no bra no corset just Spirit Halloween chiton).
16. Don’t do Sadness or Blue Wind?
Those are two halves of a whole song!
17. Word of your body or the Reprise?
OBC I did not like the Reprise because even through the Discman (... that's a Walkman for CD's) I had the sense that it was a "comic relief" moment that relied on the existence of gay boys as the joke.
The Deaf West production kept a sense of respite and relief, and some comedy in the relationship dynamic between Ernst and Hanschen rather than playing on preexisting stereotypes...even though it didn't change a word of the script in that scene, which is amazing on a text analysis level like what happened who used the Captain Planet power ring with the power of heart in this scene, what sorcery is this?
So it depends, because the non-reprise Word of Your Body does a narrative job—Melchior haters can feel free to hate, but I can understand what the musical version was trying to go for with his character, and Word of Your Body was part of that.
Groff's Melchior came off more smarter-and-better-than-you but sort of giving up his pretensions in the process of seduction, and I can understand why that aspect might look appealing.
Doyle's Melchior doesn't have that "he's a ruthless boy but maybe i can change him"—I think he plays Melchior as more sad and desperate, and putting that energy into studying is how his Melchior thinks he gets a handle on his own feelings.
McKenzie's Melchior is an oafish, bookish 14-year-old boy trying to act smooth as he condescends to a Deaf girl. He has as much primal sexual energy as a newborn beagle puppy, which to be clear is none at all. I think that can be endearing, that he doesn't really know what he's blathering about in terms of life experience.
Wendla's a consistent constant performance-wise, all three versions I think balance out to a constant average...so it's really the Reprise that determines which one I like better.
OBC Reprise was very much worse than OBC Word of Your Body...but, Deaf West Reprise was a little better than Deaf West Word of Your Body and a lot better than the OBC Reprise. But I like the OBC Word of Your Body better than the Deaf West Reprise, at the same time that I like the Deaf West Word of Your Body an equal amount as the OBC Word of Your Body, contextualized comparatively being different than the chronological context that defines its vibe in an individual show's run time.
18. Touch Me or My Junk?
My Junk as a tune — but the Deaf West Touch Me did turn everybody into a boat, that was kinda cool.
19. Explain the song of purple summer.
Ilse recovered from her trauma and now owns her sexual identity, despite the history of everyone in her home and community doing their worst to her in ways that directly targeted that very intimate part of her. Her story is not the main plot of the show, but the fact that she survived and found personal definition means she now has her own voice on which to carry the wisdom of her life. That will be what heals and inspires others. Red or pink sunsets plus blue evenings make the sky in summer purple. At the end of the day, there still is beauty in living.
20. Explain the song of purple summer (wrong answers only)
Butterflies scatter ergot fungus while they fly around, so everybody thinks that everything looks purple this summer. The sky is purple. The rain is purple. The corn is purple. The horses are purple. The fungus is eating everybody's brains. They're all going to die.

Something I realized is that I wanted more all-ages sci-fi cartoons. There's been a ton of excellent fantasy shows, some even mixing a bit of sci-fi aesthetic and themes in it. But I love to see something that's inspired by like, Astro Boy and Mega Man the way Amphibia, She-Ra or The Owl House were inspired by fantasy games, movies and anime.
Also, I know that there are really good sci-fi shows like Lower Decks or Final Space, and since they're adult shows, they allowed to go much further on the more complex themes sci-fi brings.
But the reason I want more all ages cartoons of this genre is a matter of contrast. You look at stuff like Mega Man X and series inpired by it, like Gunvolt or Gravity Circuit and they have a very family friendly aesthetic. Bright high-tech cities, poppy sountracks, sometimes goofy looking enemies and bosses.
But once you hit their endgames, it usually involves facing horrible mechanical monstrosities or uncontrollable cosmic horrors that serve to illustrate the sci-fi themes that some of these games explore.
That's the thing I think shows like Amphibia or The Owl House did really well. Establishing fantasy worlds that could even be really silly at times, to later show that darkness that exists in them and how they're a reflection of our own. And I think you could something really good with a sci-fi setting with the limitations that come with an all ages project.
And given all the amazing people who work in the animation industry, I love to see what they would cook with a setting like that, for a respectful contract of course.
--
TL DR: Someone throw a plucky, but flawed teenage protag into a sci-fi world of fighting robots so they can go on crazy adventures, and saving the world while witnessing man-made horrors beyond their comprehension.

Top 5 movie soundtracks OR individual pieces/songs within :3
Ohh thank you!!
Number one to no-one's surprise is the LOTR soundtrack, we're all here for LOTR, we all know I'm fucking insane about LOTR, no news here, I didn't buy a whole book about just the sountrack because I'm normal about it asjhdksjhfdngv My favourite bits of the LOTR soundtrack are: The Battle of Pelennor Fields and The Mouth of Sauron from the full recordings, Concerning Hobbits, Minas Tirith, The White Tree and Breaking of the Fellowship from the regular versions, and of course every single time Reclamation of Nature appears. and the songs that end the movies. and everything else also
Cheating a little bit and including a show soundtrack but I have to mention the Lost OST - Michael Giacchino is CRAZY for this one. My favourite bit of trivia is that they actually used some pieces of the plane wreckage as percussion instruments - they just took some metal pieces off the set and into the recording studio. My favourite pieces of the soundtrack would have to be Life and Death, of course, and Parting Words from season one finale, they give me chills every time. But this whole soundtrack in general is so unique, the show wouldn't be the same without it.
Next up is the Blues Brothers soundtrack! Truly a formative piece of media, both in terms of humor and my music taste. I have known all these songs since I was a literal baby, because my parents' music taste honestly slaps. My favourite song is Everybody Needs Somebody To Love, but honestly all of them are amazing (you have Aretha Franklin AND James Brown AND Ray Charles AND so many others, there was no chance this soundtrack was going to be bad)
I have given it my best, but I cannot for the life of me think of numbers 4 and 5 that would fit those three in terms of how much I like them, so here are some honorable mentions instead: PotC (absolute banger, I'm not invested in the movies as personally as in my Favourites but that music is a classic), Ocean's 11-13 (it's so FUN), Good Omens season 1 (perfect balance of original music and Queen songs. side eyes season 2. take me back to 2019)
as always, I feel like I'm forgetting everything I've ever watched sdsjhfkdjshkjfhj
Thank you for asking!! 💚

I was tagged by @pharawee to list 5 QL songs I listen to. But trust me I have an OST playlist which has both K-drama and BL ost's on it.
Let me start with an actual queer singer. Purenessly from Thailand. Has done many covers and this is his first original song. He's a really good singer so check him out!
BL soundtracks you say? Then this is definitly the ultimate one from Thailand. Who doesn't know this one. It's also my favorite.
This song from 180 Degree Longlitude is just amazing. The BL is as well and definitly a must watch.
I seem to have a thing for dark song. But this one is perfect and I love Isbanky's voice. Also Jeff Saturn involved in this is even better.
I could put the whole sountrack of I Told Sunset About You & I Promised You The Moon on here because that's how fantastic it is. Not one bad song.
Now you might wonder "but where is the OST king Boy Sompob". Well he would have been an easy choice. And while I love his songs I was like "no you need pick other songs besides him!'.
I'm tagging @heretherebedork @chansbabygirl @earthmix-myonethousandstar @earthfluuke (please feel free to skip this, of course)

Devilman: Crybaby, my take on it's religious refrences
In terms of religious allegory/refrences: 10/10
In terms of entertainment: 4/10
It's not an anime that I would typically enjoy as I am not a fan of nudity/p0rnography in anime at all, if the anime was not heavily under the inspiration of religion, I would not have watched it to begin with, but I didn't even end up finishing it.
To start with I love the opening way too much, it's what made me watch it in the first place but it set the bar a bit too high I think. I love the fragment where (what looks like)a reference to a biblically accurate angel occurs for few seconds with ryo's eyes. And the angel towards the end with 10 wings is stunning (or Ryo's angel form).
The first episode already had a few crosses; right before the sabbath club scene outside and during the scene it showed up two times, I'm pretty sure. The scene where Akira becomes the 'devil'man and his black silhoutte with wings, horns and claws with a red background and cross right behind him was beautiful. It seemed like the scene was saying that this is the god-like figure who came to save you. Him killing the demons right after kind of reaffirms this, it's as if he went on to punish those who sinned.
The whole world in this anime is depicted as a world without God's love. People becoming these demonic monsters is like people losing theirselves and their mind to their deepest darkest desires. How ironic that the one to 'save' them is a devil depicted as something of a Christ/God/saviour.
Oh and the beautiful painting of 'The Last Supper' by Leonardo Da Vinci in all of the dinner scenes is beautiful, maybe to understand why it's there I'd have to finish watching the anime, but I wonder if it's foreshadowing or symbolic of something that happens later on? And do the friend benito flakes that served Akira as reminder of his parents or his sudden huge appetite after turning into a devilman have something do with it or am I just overanalyzing.
Now the beautiful sountrack! I love it so much especially the song "Smells Blood" with it's inaudible lyrics that repeat "God can't stop me, we are coming, you are one of us, remember" and "I don't need God, because I'm him". Ah it's amazing although it plays during the scene where they search that creeps room illegally which didn't really make sense but it's great nonetheless (I'm pretty sure it plays during other scenes as well but I couldn't really tell). Not to mention the other songs with Christian inspired names like "The Genesis" and "From here to Eternity". They all sound really good too.
Without even finishing watching, I figured Ryo was an unusual character, lack of empathy, cold killer, unphased at the sabbath scene (him turning Akira into a devilman?) But once I read spoilers saying he was Satan/the fallen angel with a hermaphrodite form I was ecstatic, it's beautiful and so funny, to think that Satan himself would have such a pure white form while the devilman christ-like figure would look way more like satan himself.
Overall it's saddening that I wasn't able to enjoy and finish the anime, the blunt and straightforward Christian imagery and refrences was amazing. It was so out in the open which made me continue watching it for longer than I would have, had it been more subtle. It's a unique anime as I've yet to see one that's based on religion as heavily as this one.
Not to mention the way the anime portrays the complexity of humanity and relationships was great as well. And the many other cool (non-religious) metaphors and stuff that happens within the anime. The animation on the other hand...left me unamused. The anime was also just basically nudity the whole time, it was a hard watch for me.

LK 104: I Can Has Liberty?
(pt1)(pt2)(pt3)(pt4)
Abernathy more like Abernasty amirite
Just want to take a moment of time to show how many historical plantation locations in central VA there are still technically around today (though only a few still do ag,) and these are just the more public ones that are open about them being plantations. Some of them lean on being pretty locations with antebellum architecture where you can host events and gloss the fuck over the history of being fucking slavemills, instead talking about how pretty the furniture is and how wealthy and pretty the family members were. Abby Cox and Cheyney McKnight (Not Your Momma's History) have a fantastic dicussion about plantation weddings and such and you should watch it.
Henri LeFevbre is the real fucking MVP here, picking up the extremely important document.
I once heard Richmond, VA described as God's Blind Spot and having lived there, that's still the vibes today even with all the egregious gentrification lol.
Okay so ya bitch lived in Richmond for seven years and worked in Richmond for an additional four and *still* hasn't gone to any of the historic locations that survived the Confederate Army Completely Disregarding the Proper Way to Burn Down Strategic Buildings While Retreating and Letting Most Of the City Fucking Burn Because The People Impacted Were The Enslaved Location And Fuck Them, Right?
(no, Richmond was not burned by Sherman, it was an attempt by the Confederate Army to burn down some bridges and armories before the Union Army got up in it, and it went awry because they did a bad job of it.)
Moses, they are your family, too, in a way.
Henri coming into frame fucking spitting facts.
Did you just now notice that, Sarah??? How is Henri the most observant out of you three, I stg he's the single braincell keeping y'all on point.
He really is though.
Henri, do the Unequivocally Worst Part Of Assassin's Creed 3
About to fucking show you up at your own job, that's what.
...do you need some aloe for that burn.
Yes and its a bit of a crime, in't it?
He looks kinna dudebro in this not gonna lie.
Also taking a time out to mention that, being an excited nerd who REALLY got into Amrev in 4th grade, I actually memorized the entirety of Patrick Henry's speech for extra credit. The assignment was just a few lines, but I wrote the whole thing out. In cursive because it was 2002 and teachers were still insisting we needed to know how to cursive for college. I was so proud! I was so excited! I was so into it!
Anyway, the teacher got really pissed off and didn't give me the extra credit, then chided me for not following directions. And I had given her drawings I made of the Godspeed and the Susan Constant and little comics about the revolution! I was so betrayed.
It is so goddamn frustrating to read about all these white folks comparing their lot to slavery while all the people who were enslaved just slowly look at the camera, Office-style. And like I know white abolitionists understood the irony but its just so hard to imagine the amount of mental gymnastics that enslavers forced themselves into to justify continuing their bullshit while going on and on about how Britain was enslaving them.
Any time I hear no peace I think of the "Peace? No peace!" scene from Independence Day.
Literally right behind him.
Cato's got a point. God this scene would be so amazing live-action and with a decent sountrack.
God this dialogue is written actually pretty fucking good???
Oh its this fucknugget again.
Ok honestly? With his sneak and his parkour skills AND HIS FUCKING CARDIO this kid would be hands down the best fucking spy. The Culper ring should have hired fucking Henri Lefevbre amirite.
...in the loudest way possible, doing burnouts in a conestoga.
Ok but they came right up to the front door? These are some audacious kids.
To be continued

Kane & Lynch, does that name ring a bell? No? Good! That means you’re still a good person.
Kane & Lynch is a series of games, Kane & Lynch: Dead Men and Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days, that never saw much success and was destined to obscurity, and honestly that is the best part about it, why? Because if it was a popular franchise, I would be worried for everyone’s mental stability, or lack of, in this case.
There are many reasons why these games never did particularly well despite having graphics that can still hold up to this day, an amazing atmosphere, a good enough sountrack, gameplay that never got too stale albeit a little too simplistic and generic, but the main reason was because this game had no audience, this game was made for nobody, you will not relate to this game, you will not enjoy this story, and you totally wont want to hear what it has to say about you, why? Because this is a game about horrible people that does horrible things while being aware of it the entire time.
Kane and Lynch: Dead Men doesn’t puts you in the shoes of a wronged cop trying to set the world straight, it doesn’t makes you the hero that has to defy all the odds, and it totally doesn’t makes you a redeemable antihero like Travis or Shadow, no, you don’t get any of this here, what you get (and also the opening cinematic for the game) is a guy named Kane that has been sentenced to death penalty, what for? Your guess is as good as mine, but you can bet anything that he deserves it.
The game begins with Kane writing a letter for his daughter, a daughter he never knew or saw other than in pictures, in said letter he is not apologizing or trying to justify his actions, instead what he writes is “The only feeling I have left is regret, regret that I never get to see you, to know you”, and that is the only moment of “feelings” you will ever get on this game, after that, the reality, Kane’s reality, sets in real fast, with no previous warning or even him wanting to, he is bailed out of prison on his way to his execution and forced to cooperate with his, in lack of a better term, new captors; these captors are soon revealed to be The Seven, and they have been hunting Kane ever since he betrayed them during a past job, running away with all the money and leaving them for dead, warning him that he has 3 weeks to recover what he stole from them or they’ll kill both his ex-wife and daughter.
If that sounds like a lot is because it is, this game never stops to explain anything, the story is told only by bits and pieces of dialogue that you’ll hopefully catch a glympse of, just like it would be IRL, nobody is gonna stop and give a 10 minute monologue over why they are there, specially if the characters already know each other; this lack of clarification and proper guidelines set the tone pretty quickly as well, everything feels like it is barely hold together, nothing makes quite sense and you wish you could ask a few more questions but since there are 50 enemies surrounding you at all times, the few lines that you got will have to do, it creates a feeling of rushness and improvisation that, for the most part, is how the game should feel, as Kane himself doesn’t even has a plan, he just got an objective to meet and no pointers or any idea on how to make it happen; and to make matters worse, he has a personal watchdog, Lynch, a pretty interesting guy as he is one of the few characters that manages the feat of being a worse person than Kane himself, and not because he wants to, he just has bad luck, suffering from hallucinations and severe manic episodes that make him lose consciousness and black out into a blind rage against everything and everyone that surrounds him, he never knows what’ll trigger it next or when it’ll happen, it will just happen and he’ll be left alone to pick up the pieces.
The gameplay is integrated in a, more or less, seamless way with its narrative aspects, you don’t have an ammo counter for the guns, you only get a total ammo and you yourself are responsible to count your bullets, just like it would be IRL; stand idle for long enough or press E and you will reload your gun.
This game is one of those that incorporates a “downed” stage before dying so you have the chance of getting back on your feet and keep fighting instead of having to replay a whole stage, but not everything is roses and dandelions, you are revived with srynges of Adrenalin, which, for those that do not know, is the thing that makes your heart beat faster and get all excited and full of energy, medically this is also used as a way to kickstart a fading pulse, as it forces the heart into a rush and can save a person, in fact, it saves you in the game, but this is not just a fun gimmick, because just like real life, use too much of it and you’ll flatline yourself by, basically, making your heart explode, this mechanic is not defined by a limited set of times or anything similar, instead your difficulty setting changes how long do you need to wait to use it again safely, and each usage of it, instead of outright killing you or sending you into a gameover, just works on a luck based gamble, the more you use it, the bigger the probability of you having a heart attack, but you can also get lucky and be revived 3 times in a row like it was nothing, or be very unlucky and not survive your first revival.
Speaking of downed and semi-conscious states. Each time you get downed the screen will flash white and then it will start slowly losing its colours until it becomes black and white, when that happens, you have bled out, namely, you lost; but getting downed is not just a fancy addition, as each time you do, you’ll hear your own thoughts and consciousness fading, as the audio gets distorted around you, and you start to hear Kane’s (or Lynch’s, if you’re playing co-op) last dying thoughts, in case of Kane, they are usually bits related to his past and his remorse over not meeting his daughter; this game really doesn’t wants you to forget that, for people like you, not even death is enough of a punishment.
Something that I consider unique about this game is its “crew” system, you can order the members of your crew to do things like defend a position, follow you or attack an enemy, pretty basic features, except that each one of them, even Lynch, has their own personalities and degree of cooperation, so at random they can refuse to obey your commands, or instead do something entirely different, and that is not limited to their movement because, what happens when you run out of ammo? If your teammates have the same type of ammo you need, your character will yell asking for more, and those that can replenish your ammo, will reply back, but that is also completely optional, as giving you ammo also takes ammo from them, so is entirely up to them to share, or not; and if you noticed how I said “character” instead of a name? That’s because that is exactly how the multiplayer works, a weird coop-pvp mixmatch that managed to destroy the entire internet.
Wait what? This game destroyed the internet and nobody knows of its existence? Well yes! Thanks to the introduction of achievements on PS3 and Xbox 360, there was an achievement called True Elite, awarded to the number 1 player worldwide and allowing you to play as Kane, and Celebrity, awarded to the number 2 and allowing you to play as Lynch, meaning that rising up those ranks was a proof of status, the higher you were, the more people wanted to play with you, but that’s the nice side of things, the ugly and bad side? Well, like I mentioned before, this game has a mix between coop and pvp in a way that it is both at the same time, each match will begin with a group of heisters trying to rob a place or get an objective, but there was no limitations whatsoever, there was nothing keeping you from killing the rest of your teammates to collect their share and keep all for yourself, and for those that were unlucky to be betrayed, they could have their second chance, spawning back into the game as cops, killing a heister meaning leaving them out of the match while at the same time respawning as a heister and stealing their accumulated money; now, again, how did this broke the internet? By being exactly what it tried to be, how? Well, the multiplayer mode, called Fragile Alliance is exactly, a fragile alliance between unknown criminals, each one is there for their own gain, and how did that translated to the real world? Well, several threads on TrueAchievements, an old website dedicated to achievement hunting prove testimony to an underworld that was created inside the game for the sake of two achievements, meaningless titles outside the game, clans would go at war with each other for entire weeks or months, boost alt accounts to hog the top spots, block the leaderboard by playing only against themselves and demanding REAL MONEY in form of Xbox live cards or xbox gold for a chance to be allowed to participate in these matches or even be allowed anywhere near, most of these setups ended up being scams where unsuspecting players would get killed endlessly until their rank would decrease even further or engage in Antiboosting, which was a practice of using poorly ranked accounts to make your match not gain you any positions in the leaderboard due to you playing against opponents that were too underlevelled for you, this led to the reset of the leaderboards between 3 to 5 times, and a monthly reset system was put in place after last time; I guess that it does prove the point the game was trying to make about “Thieves’ honor”
So far I’ve only talked about aspects relating to the gameplay and the atmosphere surrounding the game, and that’s it for now, but I’ll keep making walls of text about both the story, the soundtrack and the details that stood up to me the most, and obviously, fangirling about its sequel, Dog Days, which is another one of my favourite games.

I don’t think there’s a single bad song on the Prince of Egypt soundtrack. The “worst” is probably “Playing with the Big Boys” and that’s worst by the standards of that sountrack, which still means it’s pretty amazing.
However, if I had to pick a favorite song from that movie, it’s a tie between either “Through Heaven’s Eyes” or “The Plagues”. Literally all the songs in this movie are like...perfection, but those two in particular hit hard for me.

I miss everything about high school nowadays like the friend i was always messing with his hair, the walks we took on wednesday evenings, the fog that covers everywhere for a while during the morning, frozen flowers u see right before classes start, forests behind the school, atelier windows facing hills that sometimes has sun hitting them and sometimes having snow on top of them, how i couldnt keep my eyes open as soon as i stepped into the home after classes, the chilly crisp air with the smell of greenery around there, the corridor in the school basement that has no light, the sound of music that comes out of music students classes, the minibus that takes students to their homes in other parts of muğla on fridays and as you go its already golden hour so the road view is just amazing, the friend who she and i were listening to our favorite game sountracks with me on the minibus as we were going home and probably many things i forgot for now…

I finished Mega Man X!! And everyone who also loves this game is right. This is one of the best 2d platformers out there. Fantastic gameplay, great stages, fun boss fights, a banger of a soundtrack, and amazing characters. Pretty secured my obsession with Mega Man to keep going.
Only thing I didn't like were the Sigma Fortress levels. Really felt like they're just frustrating for the sake of frustration, with the boss rush padding I never like. And that sucks 'cause the boss fights against Vile and Sigma are actually a ton of fun.
The Maverick stages are amazing though. Love pretty much every single one, from their presentation, they're set pieces and sountrack. They're just a ton of fun to navigate through.

TLDR TOP OSTs: Hades, Mechanicus, FTL, Subnautica(: Below Zero)
The Hades soundtrack fuckin rocks and is an always recommend, Runescape music always has favourites, if you want big epic orchestral pieces, then FromSoft games or Dawn of War 2 will have you covered (vocals but no lyrics on the second one, might be pushing it). Frostpunk is similar but more grim. The Stellaris soundtrack is absolutely lovely for chill scifi music, or FTL. Actually FTL soundtrack is amazing and same tier as Hades soundtrack, Ben Prunty's work is fuckin amazing. On that vein, Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero have really thematic relaxing tracks, big BIG recommend. For more bardcore-y, there's the Stronghold soundtrack or Divinity: Original Sin 2, both stellar. Valheim's soundtrack is in that vein but more ambient. A well-curated Neverwinter Nights 1/2 and/or Baldur's Gate 2 playlist might also scratch that itch. Battle Brothers' soundtrack is lesser-known but great and also mediaeval-y with some really dark tracks. I also personally like the Expeditions: Rome or Total War: Troy soundtracks for a more classical-period vibe. Or Overlord 2 for more dark fantasy-comedy-y in the same vein.
And if that's STILL not enough recommendations: for the dark gregorian-electronic mix best goddamn sountrack in existence, big large recommend, Mechanicus. Seriously, give that one a go.
gettin a little tired of my old work playlist. anyone got any reccs for music that's no-lyric?
I usually put on bardcore, the silent hill soundtrack, hollow knight soundtrack, or the ADHD focus music video but I'm getting a lil tired of the rotation
Like a particular video game OST that you think slaps or w/e, it just can't have lyrics
#wife post#game music#i would also recommend kenshi but its a very particular vibe explicable only as vain hope mixed with beautiful vistas#kenshi is kenshi i tried#if anyone says any bethesda game has a good soundtrack you are wrong and also have poor taste
