A fearsome Storm Dragon! Half-custom order (read the story under my previous posts to understand why "half"). The sculpture is handmade of air-dry clay, painted with acrylic colors and covered with protective matte varnish. Lightnings and eyes glow in the dark. ✨

thinking about the assassin zuko AU again... thinking about azulon dying, and ozai becoming fire lord. zuko gets the news via his viper-raven in the middle of the night on their way to omashu. he has a new master now. fire lord ozai wants him to kill the avatar at the earliest possible convenience.
zuko... hesitates. it wouldn't make sense to kill the avatar now. he still has the chance to take out the earth king. so he decides to wait. when they finally arrive in ba sing se, he learns that the earth king isn't even really in control- long feng is. so he waits longer. long feng is deposed, removed from his position of power, so he falls off zuko's radar.
long feng watches 'li'. one of his subordinates reported seeing a viper-raven fly over the city walls. the birds are extremely rare- only still bred by one group. he's heard the rumors about the fire lord's secret squad of assassins, and if there is one within the city... well, it is important that he deal with it. 'li's' mask is perfect, so he almost doesn't suspect him at first.
almost. he's just a little too good at guiding his group through lake laogai. that's the only tell long feng gets, but it's enough. he decides to take a gamble, and orders the dai li to quietly bring him to them. he has a proposition for you, young assassin- work with him, and he will make fulfilling his goals even easier.
zuko doesn't believe the man for a second- but he does need to kill the earth king, and it's proving trickier than killing chief arnook. fire lord ozai is growing impatient with his lack of progress, so he agrees. everything happens quickly after that- the plans for a coup are put into place. the dai li capture the council of generals, and zuko gets his chance to kill the earth king.
then his sister and uncle General Iroh and Princess Azula arrive- with the avatar. they stare at him in disbelief. oh. they know who he is. katara and aang try to talk to him like they're still his friends. they don't want to believe- but sokka and toph are more suspicious. they're readying themselves.
'li' tells them that he had no choice. he didn't want to- the fire nation has his mother, you see- but general iroh cuts him off. tells him not to believe anything coming out of his mouth. aang and katara do anyways. they argue amongst themselves.
aang turns his back on him.
(this time zuko doesn't hesitate.)

Hii i saw your writing earlier about what if a child of zeus came to camp and their life. Can you write a similar one but child of hades? It got me interested lol. Totally cool if not
Oh boi, this is going to be a long one. Buckle down everyone 🤠 Also since this is definitely going to be a long one, I really wanted to call the Child of Hades as “Blake” (fair-haired;dark) because I realized that as I was typing, repeatedly typing  “Child of Hades”, “Demigod of Hades”, “Hades demigod”, and etc, is going to make this word count very long and confusing. So using ‘Blake’ as a word placer would be less confusing, and it’s a unisex sounding name so this’ll still be gender neutral for everyone to enjoy.  However, the fact I used a name would probably detract the immersion so I didn’t do it this time. But its something to think about in the future.
Tumblr media
First of all, I’m going to assume you’re asking this with the same parameters as the Daughter of Zeus ask that I got a little while back; basically if another child of the Big Three came in at the same time as Percy or within the first books of the Percy Jackson series.
Secondly, we’ve already got a glimpse of what that’s like with Nico, however small it was, it does give an idea.
And thirdly, it’ll largely depend whether this child of Hades is born before the Oath was made or after it. Whichever is the case though, how they came to be will factor in some point in the middle.
If they were there at the beginning of the books, I can see the child of Hades enroll into Yancy Academy, maybe at a young age with their dorm system and what not; being paid to be educated and cared for a distant, overseas working rich father that couldn’t take care of his own kid (Which isn’t really a lie). The reasons for Mrs. Dodds a.k.a. Alecto, being at Yancy Academy would be slightly different but largely the same; she’s still there to confirm Percy’s origins and finding out if he knows where the Helm of Darkness is located (though at this point of the book, everyone assumed it was Zeus’ Lightning Bolts and not also the Helm), but at the same time, Mrs. Dodds is there to protect or watch over the child of Hades.
With that in mind, it makes sense that Alecto being there because she’s there to make sure that the child of Hades is safe from not only Percy, and by extension Poseidon, but also Zeus; since he hasn’t been very open to Percy’s existence (even though he striked first and twice). Then there’s also the child of Hades being sent there to tail or get close to Percy to retrieve their father’s Helm. Whether the child of Hades knows or not who their godly parent is more or less factors in but also not? If the Child of Hades appears at Camp Halfblood with knowledge of their parentage, the claim wouldn’t appear, keeping them safe in the Hermes cabin and undetected. If they don’t know their parentage, Hades wouldn’t be able to claim them anyways since there isn’t a Cabin yet. So the identity as the child of Hades remains unknown. I think the Furies would appear in front of the child of Hades throughout their life, but not all of them at once. Like in the beginning it was maybe either Megaera (jealous rage) or Tisiphone (Vengeful destruction) then the other at another point, before finally being Alecto when the story takes place.
Bookwise, every goes as usual with the caveat that the child of Hades probably is close with Percy, with either of the which being the new kids at Camp or being children of the Big Three. Then there is the separation when Percy gets claimed as the children of Poseidon and everything kicks in him being a forbidden child. The child of Hades remains at the cabin of Hermes, unclaimed, and can’t get close to Percy like they used to; with the knowledge he’s been claimed and they did not, or with the knowledge that they have to view Percy as the enemy because of said Hade’s helm and that if they draw any attention to themselves, they risk getting smited by Zeus (for the whole Hades sending hellhounds and such after Thalia, leading to demise) and risk isolation cause of said incident from the other campers. While the child of Hades remains at Camp, cause they can’t really leave in broad daylight, Luke has more likely opportunities in approaching the child of Hades, being in the same Cabin and also being tipped off by Kronos. Which may lead to the truth of Luke’s betrayal being discovered sooner than later when the child of Hades figures it out (somehow. Maybe residue ot the Helmet of Darkness on Luke or something). Which probably leads to the child of Hades appearing before Alecto and the others before they get to Percy, Grover, and Annabeth as they say that Percy didn’t steal the Helmet because he doesn’t have the linger aura on him, and the perpetrator is someone else; which is Luke.
This probably leads to the child of Hades revealing themselves to our trio of Heroes who they are and Luke’s identity as a spy for Kronos earlier than expected. Things play out as usual but just a bit sooner than expected. How it plays out whether the child of Hades decides to leave Camp because no one is very welcoming to Hades and his children, and with the identity of a child of Hades and Poseidon appearing, it’s only a matter of time before things hit the fan. If the child of Hades decides to stay, they probably have to reveal themselves to Travis and Connor Stoll, being the next defacto cabin leader of the Hermes cabin, of whether they are allowed to stay in the cabin being the one who ousted Luke and being a child of Hades, but they don’t have a cabin to go to. If they can’t or don’t want them to stay, the child of Hades will probably have to stay at the Big House.
Let’s just say for the sake of the story, the child of Hades is either a few days, weeks, months younger than Percy or at least a year younger. Its a close call to which of them brings salvation or doom to the gods, but I’d imagine because both Percy and the child of Hades are close or are in similar situations, they support each other. Now when Nico and Bianca arrive at Camp, that’s a whole thing. The child of Hades can tell that Nico and Bianca have the aura of death or the underworld like they do, but can’t reveal it due to factors above and beyond their control; but the utter heartbreak of finding out they were born before them and all this time were protected in the Lotus Casino; but then there’s also the death of Bianca. We know Nico can feel her passing, so would the child of Hades, which would make Nico find out that the mysterious demigod is actual his other half-sibling, making them want to cling to them out of desperation and grief.
I think when Nico leaves camp, the child of Hades would follow him, and their story is close with Nico except that the child of Hades regularly gives signs they are alright; by letters that mysteriously appear or very brief Iris messages. The child of Hades probably has to be the older sibling, even though they are technically the younger half-sibling out of the two.
If the child of Hades is a girl, there may be a thought to join the Hunter of Artemis, mainly to only circumvent the prophecy. However, they probably don’t bring it up because that’s how Bianca died so they have reservations about it. They probably pop up every so often to at least fight in the major battles to support Percy cause they’re friends and its just really bad circumstances that’s making it things hard.
They probably join the Battle of Manhattan earlier because screw Hades for not fighting and doing what is needed, or probably go to fight to help Nico to help Percy to get the Curse of Achilles and buy time to convince their father to join the battle.  In the end, for lack of a better term, barely escape their demise by just a nail. They eventually find their place in the world like Nico does, but its not an easy path.
In other news, the TV show works a whole lot better in this case with how prominent the furies appear more frequently.

So since Gray Wing is dead in your rewrite (LOVE this change btw) will someone else be given the 'tell the stars you've won' quote?
Yep! Gray Wing's roles are getting split between two characters; Bright Storm and Shaded Flower.
Shaded Flower is taking on a paternal role. He teaches Thunder Storm how to be a tom as he transitions and is very close with the Storm family. Thunder Storm considers him his father more than Clear Sky ever was; he taught him love and respect.
Saved by Gray Wing in the first book, Shaded Flower gets merc'd in the First Battle by Clear Sky.
Bright Storm has the arc of coming to terms with the idea of enabling. She tried to save Jagged Peak, alone. She loved Clear Sky, even after he rejects her and their son. She was very close with Gray Wing and was looked to as a proveyer of xeir teachings, but kept encouraging Thunder Storm to be close to his biofather out of the hope he'd bond with his dad... not realizing she was just making Thunder Storm get hurt.
She gets the asthma that Gray Wing did, saving fire victims. And after her friend Shaded Flower is killed, she jumps into battle against Clear Sky and eventually says the line.
But this time around, Clear Sky rejects it. StarClan ends this battle, with bolts of furious lightning.

ok i posted a lil snippet of this fic last night but then decided i didn't like it out of context and deleted the post, but i do think i like this snippet well enough!!! current wip: kon versus the existential loneliness of being alive again.
warnings for internalized homophobia and suicidal ideation!
And then, just as a T-rex goes to fight the Nazi robot in the movie, Tim taps his long fingers against Kon’s knee. A jolt of lightning zaps through Kon’s body, but he ignores it.
“Hey,” Tim murmurs. “How’ve you been doing, big guy?”
“What?” Kon blinks. “I’m good. Why?”
Tim tips his head back and pins him with a piercing look. It’s not as piercing as Lois’s staring-daggers-through-your-soul looks can get, but it’s still up there.
“You’ve been avoiding everyone,” Tim says. “Cassie I get, ‘cuz, like, breakups are never fun. But Bart? Kory and Gar? Cass? And… me?”
“I saw Bart just the other day!” Kon objects. “We played video games and hung out for a while.”
“He said that only happened ‘cuz he invited himself over to see you.” Tim pauses. “Not that I mean we’ve been, like, talking about you behind your back or anything, uh—that’s not what I meant. I just asked because I haven’t seen you around much lately, and I didn’t know if that was a me thing, or…”
Oh. Kon could smack himself.
“No no no—it’s not you, I swear!” He groans, squeezing his eyes shut, and turns his head to hide his face in Tim’s hair. He smells of generic basic bitch men’s shampoo. “I’ve just, uh… I’ve been staying in Smallville mostly. Just… you know.”
Tim hums softly, his hand still resting on Kon’s knee. “Something on your mind?”
I keep wondering if I should have stayed dead. Also, something has been wrong with me since I came back, because I should be devastated about breaking up with Cassie, but all I feel is relief. Something is wrong with me, and I think I didn’t come back right, and I don’t know if I should’ve come back at all.
He can’t say any of that. Not to Tim, who was so shattered by his grief that he tried to clone him. Just to have a little piece of him back. Even if he knew it wouldn’t truly be Kon.
How could he possibly say any of this to Tim?
“Nothing, really,” he says. The lie tastes like ashes on his tongue. “Just… adjusting, I guess. Lost a year. That’s weird. Pa’s dead. That’s… I don’t even know what to say.”
For a moment, Tim is quiet. Then he shifts against Kon’s side, dislodging him. He turns to look Kon dead in the eyes; one hand reaches up and tips Kon’s chin up, resting against his cheek to prevent him from turning away. Kon resists the urge to squirm under his gaze.
“Dude,” Tim says. “You and I both know if it was just adjustment and grief, you wouldn’t be avoiding us.” Another pause. He scrunches up his face a little. “I mean—adjustment and grief both are real and suck and they’re totally valid reasons to be out of it, but that’s—you’re not…”
He trails off. Kon swallows hard and bites the inside of his lip. He can’t tell Tim what’s really eating at him, but his ability to read Tim is a two-way street. Tim knows how to read him, too.
Tim takes a breath. “You used to tell me just about everything.”
Fuck.
“Tim, I’m not…” Kon scrubs a hand over his face. His heart pounds hard in his chest. He can’t put this on Tim’s shoulders. He can’t. It would be so, so cruel to put that kind of fear in Tim’s head, the idea that Kon might want to die again—he doesn’t, he doesn’t want to die again. He just—he just thinks maybe he should’ve stayed dead.
But he can’t say that to Tim. He can’t be that cruel. Not to Tim, who’s already been through so much grief.
“There is something else bothering me,” he admits, unable to meet Tim’s gaze. “But I can’t tell you. And that’s—it’s not your fault I can’t tell you, it’s me, I just—I can’t, okay?”
Tim is quiet for a moment. Something explodes on the TV screen; the white light washes over his face as Kon peers at him through his fingers, heart racing with anxiety. He doesn’t want Tim to think he’s the problem—he just can’t… he can’t say it.
“Are you sure?” Tim asks, after a beat. “I know I’m… different. Not really the same guy I was when you died. If that’s… if you need space to process that, and that’s why—”
“It’s not!”
That’s—that’s too much. Tim can’t think that, Kon can’t let him think that, that would never in a million years be the reason Kon can’t tell him something and he needs to know!
Kon shoves the bowl of popcorn out of the way; his TTK is the only reason it doesn’t go flying across the room, and instead settles neatly onto the coffee table. He throws his arms around Tim’s waist and hauls him into a hug, mindful of the gauze on his upper back as he clutches at him. He can hear the beating of Tim’s heart, can feel it against his own chest; Tim’s bare skin and his own are separated only by the thin layer of Kon’s shirt, and he can feel the warmth of his body radiating through the fabric.
For an agonizing second, Tim is still, frozen in his arms. Then, like a spell has broken, he melts, slotting himself into Kon’s chest like he was made to fit there; his cheek comes to rest against Kon’s shoulder, nose brushing his neck, and his arms slip around Kon’s waist in turn.
“I swear, Rob, it’s not that,” Kon manages. “I swear it’s not. It’s—it’s something in my head. It’s not you at all. You’re—you’re perfect, okay?” He can’t fuck this up. He can’t fuck this up and make Tim think he’s the problem. He just—
He just can’t tell him.
“Kon…” Tim takes a slow breath, blows it out as a deep, heavy sigh against his shoulder. Kon holds him a little tighter, helpless. After a moment, Tim nods slowly against him. “Okay. I believe you.”
The relief is so poignant that Kon’s stomach churns. Thank god. His shoulders slump with the weight of it; gratitude settles like snowfall on top.
Then Tim draws back, looks at him with those same piercing eyes. Like Kon is a puzzle that he needs to turn over and over in his hands until he figures out what makes him tick. “But you still can’t tell me?”
Kon looks away. He misses Tim’s warmth in his arms already. He doesn’t want to think about what that might mean. “…No.”
