jobs
Mako is five; Naoki puts her hands on his shoulders and tells him that Mama and Baba are both busy today, and can he do a job for her? Yes! Mako is small and eager and so determined to be serious and responsible. Your job is to take care of your brother today, okay? And Mako nods and Naoki leaves, and he reaches on his toes to grab the jook off the counter when Bolin wakes and cries, and methodically shovels the food into his tiny baby brother's mouth when it drops open, and watches him while he's sleeping to make sure he doesn't choke on all the drool slipping out.
Mako is six; San and Naoki dress him up in a too-big uniform that will soon be well-worn and grow stitched-over tears again and again, and tell him it's his job to go to school — to learn, to get the education he needs to go further in life than they ever did. He applies himself to this job with dedication, swallowing the knowledge spewing from his teacher's mouth like iced babaozhou on hot summer days, turning the numbers in his head and marveling at how they fit together so perfectly.
Mako is eight; San hastily wraps his scarf around Mako's neck and tells him his job is to run away from this alley and find help and to not look back. There are tears in his eyes and he's scared, but Baba told him it's his job, so he turns away and he runs away from the alley. The screaming starts and Mako looks back, mesmerized by the flames lighting up the dark narrow walls closing in on him and framing his parents' silhouettes as they hit the gravel, frozen by the scent of burning hair carried to his nose by the smokey wind, terrified by the way the man grips his mother's limp body and groans.
(It's the first time Mako fails a job. The consequences are ceaseless. He resolves to himself that he will never, ever fail another job, because he will never unsee this night.)
Bolin is sobbing as they stand in the police station, shaking in Mako's arms. The police officer hauls his little brother off of him, tells him that he needs to recount what happened in a metal room that echoes too much. Mako can't bring himself to speak, his voice caught in his throat, and every time he tries to open his mouth, he chokes and feels like he might vomit all over these pristine floors, so he can't get anything out. Eventually, the officer gives him a sheet of paper and lets him attempt to write out what he can in shaky characters, and sends him back to his brother, still sobbing in the lobby. He holds onto Bolin like it's the first time he's ever touched a person, and remembers what Naoki told him when he was five: Your job is to take care of your brother.
Mako is nine; he is thin and small and alone, putting his food on Bolin's plate when the orphanage staff doesn't watch and holding Bolin at night when he cries. He fights the kids who make fun of Bolin's inability to stop crying at the right times — always with fists, never with fire, but the matron still tells him that he needs to control himself, because firebenders are dangerous. (Mako already knows that.) He's silent and detached, but it's enough for Bolin, until the day a couple comes to take Bolin away from him. Mako can't take care of his brother if Bolin is adopted, so that night, he takes Bolin and runs, and does not look back.
Mako keeps Bolin safe on the streets. He finds places to hide at night, away from the police that might come to take them away, away from the gangs that might try to recruit them. He collects newspaper and cardboard that they can sleep on, begs for scraps during the day and steals from the dumpsters during night to keep them fed. He teaches himself to learn apathy as fire sprouts to life in his palms for the first time in a year, learns to fight other street kids who are just as desperate as them and willing to do whatever it takes to survive, rust on his tongue and gold in his eyes. He fights and fights and fights to stay alive, to keep going despite the temptation induced by weariness — to take care of his brother.
Mako is ten; the cotton mill is always hiring kids to spin and weave to make the clothing that the people of Republic City wear, and searching in the dumpster isn't enough to feed their starving stomachs turned inside-out. The job cuts his fingers open on the vast machines, leaves him sweating like he's in the sweltering heat of the Fire Nation despite being the midst of winter; sends him crawling into the spaces between all the deafening, rattling creatures, because he's one of the smallest kids there, lanky bones and hollow skin and utterly pathetic. It's the first paid job Mako ever works, and every yuan dropped into his palm at the end of the week goes into the layers of his ratty clothes or into feeding their starving stomachs turned inside-out. At night, he bends the heat off of his body to keep them warm inside earth tents erected in the back of narrow alleys, slipping out of himself and forgetting.
Mako is eleven; Bolin is thin and sick and won't get better no matter how hard Mako tries to keep the fever down, and Mako sells himself. The job at the factory doesn't pay enough fast enough for him to afford help, even with the yuans he's been saving up since getting the job, and he can't do two jobs at the same time because there's not enough time in the day. Naoki has always told them to do good, to never get involved in crime, because Mako can't afford that if he ever wants to be someone. He hears about it from the other desperate street kids who say that there's decent upfront pay, and he's desperate. Afterwards, he doesn't limp back to the alley where he told Bolin to wait, instead hiding behind a sleazy bar and digging the heels of his hands into his eyes as he throws up bile and cries and tries to not lose himself to the haze. He hates himself more than he's ever hated someone in his life, aches. It doesn't pay quite enough for him to justify. Every minute now, Bolin is closer to death, and Mako's job is to take care of his brother. He turns to the triads.
(And he feels selfish, because he knows that it's because he can't bear the gross feeling crawling all over him, but. But.)
Mako's first job for the Triads is to run numbers, the delivery boy intermediating the transfer of drunkards' bets. He collects the slips and money, sliding between cigarettes and alcohol and sex, heady from the money dropped in his hands after reaching headquarters. Bolin is finally sleeping inside of walls and breathing easier and Mako feels a stark relief inside of him at the sight of his little brother's peace.
He bookkeeps when Shady Shin smokes too much and slips the numbers over to him, crunches numbers in an instant to ensure that odds are best turned in the gambler's favor if they're in the Triple Threats. People take notice of the way numbers flow in his head and slide some cash his way to use him, and Mako is filled with shame as he remembers his parents sending him to school to get the education he needs to go further in life than they ever did, filled with shame for using that education to fall further in life than they ever did.
He runs messages during drug transactions, stands on lookout during late-night raids. He fights fire with fire when he's told, a fierce intensity burning in his bones, vicious and biting until Viper takes the man out. He refuses to let Bolin get too involved, because there's a roof over their heads and real food in their stomachs, and Mako can handle keeping it this way alone.
Mako is twelve; lightning courses through his fingers and burns through his veins. Zolt catches the bolt and shoots it into the sky, matches his eyes to the seriousness and utter determination in the grimy kid's eyes. Mako is twelve, unrelenting and tenacious to take care of his brother, and all-too-easily forgets to be a person when his brother's safety comes into question. The separation of chi is easy, and Zolt laughs as he conjures up the lightning again and again and again, throwing it back and forth like a dangerous game of catch. He is unparalleled in age, but unknown to the world above the dirt he grew up as.
Mako is thirteen; he closes his eyes and sends cold fire into cold water.
(The scent of burnt hair is floating through the air over the dying screams hitting his ears, but Mako will not be sick.)
Mako is fifteen; he and Bolin are living in the attic of the pro-bending arena, under a conditional that demands them to fight and win. They sweep the arena floors each night after all the dizzy spectators have poured themselves out onto the streets like fish into the bay; they scrub the bathrooms and sinks and inspect the hundreds of seats for remnants of their ever-changing occupants. His job is to become a pro-bender — one that can win the tournament by the time they meet the age qualifications. He trains day-in and day-out; batters back the urge to fight low and dirty; learns to use the distance called for on the floor; refines his flame to be more precise, less raw.
He finds another job at the lightning-bending powerplant, where he can make money while they train up to enter the tournament. They hire him promptly, Mako fulfilling the criteria of performing the relatively uncommon task, and despite the exhaustion weighing down his bones at the end of each shift, he's paid more than he ever was as a ten-year-old spinning cotton between deafening factory machines. They still need to buy groceries, still need to eat and save up money — because even though they currently have a place in the arena while they clean and train, nothing stays.
Mako is seventeen; his job is to win the pro-bending tournament, and Hasook doesn't turn up. They can't participate if they don't have a waterbender. Mako bites his tongue until he tastes rust and narrows his gold eyes and feels a panic crawling up his spine; there are consequences for failing to do the job.
And there is a girl, bright and blazing and clad in blue, and she fights for them without gravity. She's the Avatar and she's terrible at following rules she doesn't know, and they are beaten down, and Mako thinks that it's over — until something clicks within her.
(Mako's life will never be the same.)
The first time Mako has a job that he truly loves without reservation is when he joins the Republic City Police Force, a job that means something more to him. Something he feels redeems himself as a desperate kid on the streets, unable to do anything to help himself, something he feels can help the desperate kids on the streets he used to be. Lin Beifong offers him an application after seeing his work with Korra despite knowing his past in running with the Triads; tells him that he's a good fighter, that he's got a good head on his shoulders and that she'd like him to stay on the right side of the law for it. Tells him that the job pays well, searching his eyes, and he knows he needs a steady way to take care of his brother. Deep down he's always known that pro-bending isn't sustainable, just an opportunity to be something more than the orphan, the scrappy firebending street-rat, the lightning-bending gangster. He applies himself to the job like he's done with every job in the past, a vigor and determination coursing through his veins to do right, and for once, he feels that he's succeeded.
(Mako is twenty-one; his arm is wrapped in a sling, and the city that chewed him up and spat him out is in absolute ruin around him. He's indefinitely suspended from the police force because Beifong refuses to let him work while he's still healing, and there's a gaping hole in his life that he's always filled with needing to do one job or another. Bolin looks at Mako shut in his empty apartment's bedroom, losing himself after his suspension.
You've made it your job your entire life to take care of me, Bolin tells him, swallowing hard. But I'm okay now, don't you see? You can rest now. You don't need to work right now.
But —
No. Bolin is firm. It's my turn to take on this job. Let me take care of my brother.)
my ao3 (not posted there… yet?)
i accidentally spontaneously manifested this in three hours. um. i dunno if i want this on ao3 or not cuz i was planning to just write a silly tumblr post going "do you ever think about how mako has been working his entire life" and it accidentally became 2.1k words. it's a little bit scuffed. it's almost 3:00 AM and i haven't proofread. hope it's cohesive! apologies if not lmfao
(i wrote one completely different paragraph last night, then i was suddenly fixed by a need to write more just now :P)

Day 6 of @orangepanic Whumptloktober prompts
"Spark + Not realizing they're injured."
"I really don't think this is a good idea," Korra sighed, her hands were raised and palms front facing, as if telling him to stand down.
Mako placed his hands on his hips and sized her up, "Korra you're the first Avatar to bend metal, you blew a hole into the spirit world, and you're really telling me you're afraid to bend a little lightning?"
His humorous smile of disbelief was hard not to mirror back to him. By the way he phrased it, her caution did sound like a ridiculous irrational fear.
Korra timidly looked around the training grounds. There was no one else out here this time of night that could be a casualty other than themselves. There was a pool of water that could be used to put out a fire, and the loose dirt they stood on could also be used to snuff out a flame.
She bit the inside of her mouth, "Mmmm okay...But if I can't do it, I won't be upset!"
Mako nodded encouragingly, "You got this."
They stood face to face, about four feet apart as Mako demonstrated the proper form needed to generate and guide the electricity. The technique that allowed the energy to pass from one hand, down into the stomach, and then out the other arm.
They danced in unison with Korra watching him with acute concentration, especially his breath and how he seemed to move almost as fluidly as a Water bender. It came so naturally to him and yet, she was still struggling.
"Ergh!" She yelled as another blast of fire shot out from her hands. "This isn't making sense!"
"Lightning is different than fire, for one its much hotter..."
"Yeah I got that part," Korra grumbled as she rubbed her knuckles that felt like she had eternal rug burn. There were spots around them that had gotten so hot from her blasts, little patches of glass formed.
"Why isn't mine working?"
Mako looked up at the sky. The heavy clouds moving slowly above them. "Well think about it Korra, what makes lightning in nature?"
"Air?" She replied, half unsure.
"Exactly! but here..." He opened his palm and placed her hand on top of his. Together they held an open flame, mutually aiding its warmth. "Fire needs air as fuel, where as lightning occurs when air can no longer insulate the charge..."
"Sooo...don't breathe?" She pouted.
Mako chuckled and took a few, very long steps back from her.
"You're not really holding your breath—" He began to sway his arms in the same formation they had just practiced. His index and ring fingers pointed out and away from his body. "You are taking all of that energy your body wants to transmute into fire—" His fingertips began to spark and crackle. "And channeling it down with your breath like a reserve. The energy still has to move and just as you feel the current overflow."
He pointed up towards the sky and a blot of lighting snapped from his hand like a neon blue whip. "You release it through one singular channel!"
Korra watched in awe as he demonstrated with such confidence and ease.
"Preferably through your arm and fingers..." He clarified, knowing that it could have more lethal paths of escaping.
"Fire is a stable energy that burns over time. Lightning is a burst of energy that comes and goes almost at the same time. It has to flow, that's why you can't hold on to the charge for too long."
He consciously rubbed his arm that had been badly scarred from taking down Kuvira's spirit cannon. A great lesson learned in that department.
Korra nodded with her eyebrows threaded in a hard line. It was starting to make more sense now. She stood her ground and took a few seconds to build up the courage to try again.
"Whenever you're ready," Mako voiced.
She began to move in sync with her arms and breath and channeled all of the energy that her body wanted to release as fire, down to her center of gravity.
Her skin began to feel a sizzlingly prickle that manifested as goosebumps. It was an odd sensation but she continued on, feeling that pool of residual energy he spoke about.
Mako's eyes gleamed as he saw just the faintest spark at the tips of her fingers, "T-that's good! Now—"
Korra gasped as her whole body seized. A strong current of electricity passed through her muscles and she lost which direction it was coming and going to.
In a panic she pointed away from herself and a crackling spark of fire struck the ground, missing Mako by only a few inches.
A large dust cloud enveloped them and she shielded herself from the downpour of sand and tiny shards of glass.
As the plume dissipated, Mako was thankfully still standing with his arms cradling his head.
"T-that was—good!.." He yelled, trying not to sound too shaken up that she almost shot him point blank. "W-we can try again at another time—"
"Mako you're on fire!" Korra screamed, as she witnessed his arm lit up like a log in a bonfire. She unintentionally tackled him to the ground as she leaped to his rescue. "I'm so-so sorry! Fuck! I told you this was a bad idea!"
She frantically patted his arm until the flames were snuffed out.
Mako pushed himself up to a seat, uncaring that Korra was still laid in his lap. He looked down at his arm in silent bewilderment.
Korra carried over a current of water from the pool and began healing his burns. Thankfully only surface level.
"The doctor said I might never have feeling in this arm again...I guess he was right..."
He truly hadn't felt a thing. Even now, as Korra cradled his limb, he couldn't feel it.
It was hard to describe. Like when a dentist numbs your mouth, the pain of having a tooth removed is absent but you can still "feel" the pressure. The phantom sensation.
"Im sorry to hear that..." Korra replied. Her fingers lightly traced his arm that was branded by a scar that traveled the entire length of his hand to shoulder in the shape of a mangled tree branch.
This was why she was so afraid. It was so much raw power that could get out of control so easily. To the point of it being lethal.
"Hey" Mako picked up her chin, "Don't worry about it. At least now you have the perfect training dummy"
Korra gapsed as he thought that joke was worthy of a laugh. She pushed him away and moved to stand, "Not funny City Boy!"
Mako followed after her with a slick grin as they turned in for the night, "Same time next week?"
"Not a chance!"

@knightfeared | Squall Leonhart says;;
❛ you are so brave, and i'm incredibly proud of you. ❜
Day in and day out it was always the same; Wake up, check emails for any missions or news from the director, get ready for the day, and depending on his schedule, either train or get paraded around by ShinRa to some degree before moving on to the rest of his day which often included having to provide some sort of morale boost for the troopers and lower ranks, doing paperwork, or on the rare occasion such as now, spend what little time he can with Squall before they're dragged off to work once more. It's typically unrewarding and yet with fingers carding through his hair so tenderly, lovingly even, Zack can't help but to appreciate the shared moment. He's burning out, much like a light that's shone for far too long or a fire fly swiftly approaching its final hours before their glow dims out into nothing, ever since his promotion he's come to note just how differently everyone treated him.
Everyone but Squall, to some degree. Oftentimes Zack cannot help but to reminisce on the times where the Turk would go out of his way to avoid anything to do with the First, it was amusing yet irritating to some degree back then simply because the Turk didn't know Zack well enough to have a valid reason to dislike him outside of gossip and rumors; Then again though, gossip had spread far too quickly the moment Zack's promotion had been finalized and suddenly those who looked upon the raven haired man with disdain suddenly thought the world of him, the general public who typically ignored his presence suddenly knew everything about the once bright eyed teenager and even fought for his attention. He'd heard Sephiroth put a name to it a few times, parasocial relationships was what the hero of ShinRa had said. ( People make an ideal you in their head, they don't know who the true you is so they use their imaginations and make assumptions. )
He hated it. Hated the fame that came with being a poster boy, hated the lingering eyes and the way people would speak about him so absolutely as if they knew everything about Zack and not just First Class Operative Zack Fair, his closest friends never did that and it was appreciated but even still, the lingering fear of those he cherished most having expectations of him that he'd never meet remained ever present and yet those damned fingers massaging his scalp, those wolf blues looking straight into his own Mako tainted eyes far too knowingly, as if seeing right into Zack's eternally full mind, and the voice that follows suit... Of all the people Zack's met, just hearing the words “ You are so brave, and I'm incredibly proud of you. ” finally break the dam that had been so carefully patched up in the privacy of his own home, hidden away within his pillows in the late hours of each night.
Teeth almost burrow into his bottom lip, an attempt to hide the choked sob that finally rips its way through his body, wet and painful in a sense as Zack fully digests the kindness offered to him. He hasn't heard anyone express pride in him since Angeal was alive, to feel as though he's enough had been something evasive since Modeoheim and yet Squall managed to break the joyful façade Zack had been so damned insistent on maintaining. All the hurt, all the grief and anxiety, it was all still there but it was slowly seeping out into something closer to being healed, something far more tolerable and less heavy as the swordsman clings desperately to the brunette. “ Thank you. ” He whimpers out, “ I try to be brave, gotta make sure I make it back to you in one piece. ”
To lose a loved one was expected in their line of work but that didn't mean Zack would rush to his death, especially not with someone to return to, someone who he knows loves him for who he is, not what he can do nor his rank or whatever foolish illusion of the SOLDIER that the media had painted; Squall didn't love Zack for the idea of who he was or what he could be, Squall accepted him for who he was; Flaws and boons all the same no matter how hideous the truth of who Zack Fair was as a person rather than a warrior, and in turn, the First openly embraced everything to do with the Turk. Moments such as this were a rarity, ones where he'd allow himself to rip open his ribs and rip his heart from his chest despite being utterly terrified to bear his feelings to anyone, but if anybody understood; It would be Squall Leonhart.
“ You make me feel normal, y'know that? ” Zack manages to babble out, tawny fingers wiping away the tears dripping down marred flesh. “ You make me feel like I'm not just some weapon for ShinRa, like I'm a person and not just a pretty face or cool story to sucker more kids into ShinRa with the hopes of being a hero, you just... You help me remember I'm human, not some character to idolize or fall in love with the idea of. I love that you challenge me, and that you're not afraid to call me out when you think I'm acting stupid and I just... I love you, and you don't have to say that back to me right now but I wanted to get that out. ”

Korra Fanfic Idea
I had a Villain Stu rattling in my head for a long while now:
Nero, young disciple to Zaheer, as in about 5-10 years older than Korra. When the Red Lotus Four fail to kidnap Korra and end up in prison, Nero drops off the radar and resurfaces in Republic City years later. He takes on the persona of the Blue Spirit, playing the part of a violent vigilante using a combination of Zaheer's teachings, both moral and practical, and what he's picked up himself in the intervening years.
He makes friends with a pair of orphans, Mako and Bolin, developing a crush on the latter because fucking have you seen Bolin? Bolin doesn't play on that side of the court though so things don't pan out. Nero does substitute in for Bolin during a match; he can't bend but the ref rules that if the Fire Ferrets are willing to accept a handicap in filling a slot. He's able to hold his own by tanking every hit.
He also falls under the influence of Amon and the Equalist Movement. He has his own motivations for this, not believing in the cause itself but that the attempt itself will bring about necessary change, still retaining Zaheer's influence.
The dissolutions of the Council and the Elected President is a win in his book. He does panic when Amon's secret is exposed, thinking it will undermine the revolution and is pleasantly surprised when nothing seems to come of it, at least not in the way he thought it would fall apart. He is exposed as an Equalist, and as the Blue Spirit, souring his relationship with the Fire Ferrets, but that's a sad but acceptable loss.
Throughout the season, we are shown Nero's skills, using spiritual energy to empower his physical form. He even gets that Avatar eye glow when he's able to "power up" for a few hot seconds. He has a series of tattoos on his back lining up with his chakras that light up as he draws on his chi.
Season 2 rolls around: While everything is happening with Unalaq, wanted convict Nero is tooling around in the background, putting together a posse of societal rejects, benders and non-benders alike that he calls the Black Lotus, possibly while patting himself on the back a little too hard. Their goal is incredibly vague, which seems to be the point, to fight against "the oppressors" and all forms of societal injustice, violently.
They end up becoming third-party antagonists throughout the mess with Water Tribe Civil War and Unalaq. Nero seems to know what's going on with Unalaq and drops some cryptic warnings on the Fire Ferrets, whom he still refers to as the Fire Ferrets. Oh, and he kills Unalaq.
He kills Unalaq before he can permanently bond to Vaatu and convinces the Dark Spirit that this clearly makes him a superior choice and merge with him instead. Once bonded, Nero makes two choices: First, dub himself as the Anathema. Second, help Korra re-bond with Raava. He gives a couple reasons for this, in part to justify it to the obviously livid Vaatu.
One, a ten thousand year conflict between the Avatar and the Anathema would be the ultimate expression of chaos. Two, the two of them together will be balancing forces to each other- the Anathema can destroy what is wrong in the world and the Avatar can rebuild. That their push and pull will prevent stagnation or utter destruction.
At least, that's how Nero presents it, not that Korra is on board with the idea. She justifiably thinks he is a power mad lunatic, especially when he decides to go to Republic City to kill President Riko because clearly the man isn't doing a good enough job and assassination is the answer. Korra stops him but he gets away again.
When she decides to up-end the status quo by opening the spirit portals, he is floored and it shows that his preconceived notions of the Avatar being a force of preservation alone might be shaken.
Third season, Riko is loathe to banish Korra this time around, because she might be the only thing standing between him and Nero. However, his poll numbers are tanking because of this and he might end up ousted in the next election protecting her. Somewhere, Nero is patting himself on the back as if that's what he planned all along.
Nero proves how far he has drifted from Zaheer's teachings in Ba Sing Se. Not over killing the Earth Queen, Nero was 100% down for that and in fact might be the one that does it himself, but over tearing down the wall and encouraging the citizens to riot. Zaheer accuses him of only attacking the symptom of a broken system while ignoring the root cause and Nero accuses him of becoming overly attached to an ideal state while he lets injustices persist so long as it adheres to his philosophy.
The Fire Ferrets and the Black Lotus have to team up against the Red Lotus, and doing so probably shakes up the whole ending, with Korra not getting as fucked up as she did. This means how season four shakes out might be very different. I had the idea of Nero having originally helped Kuvira, out of a misplaced sense of responsibility while Korra was on the mend and partly inspired by Korra opening the portals. He'd turn on her eventually, as her tyranny became intolerable, and also pissed at Suyin for not stepping up earlier. But if Korra is not fucked up, Kuvira might not even become a thing, so I dunno.
~
I also had a couple side ideas:
I debate whether or not Nero still beats the past lives out of Korra, that way the Anathema and the Avatar will start on even footing. It would give Korra plenty more reason to hate his ass still.
That the Anathema doesn't work on reincarnation. Instead, it works like Exaltation: The Anathema Spirit will seek out a "fully" grown host, someone who matches Nero's ideal of a rebel hero, and grant that person his powers. It means that no organization, like any of the Lotuses, can seek out a baby Anathema and see to it that they're raised "properly".

Today on: Adventures in drawing with Pom- XD Just a small something I drew yesterday after remembering I haven’t drawn much of Mako and Alanna - So I remedied that with Mako, Alanna... And a different Alanna design. Just because. <3
I’ve been inspired recently thanks to @soulburnings to doodle up a few things, which is actually part of the reason I ended up doing this in my sketchbook and coloring it digitally~ Kind of hoping I can redraw this eventually into something better <3

Korrasami x Reader Part 2
Summary: Telling your kids how you all started dating.
Warning: Light cursing?
Ages in flashback:
Korra: 21
Asami: 22
You: 23
"I wanna know how you and mommy got with mama." You give your son a kiss on the head, "Ok bud, so..."
*Flashback Start*
You and Asami had been dating for 4 years at this point and you had helped her build her company back up. You both had been sending letter to Korra, some were joint letters and some were not. You two were also the only two to get responses. You knew about Asami's not so small crush on the Avatar and had known about it for a while. You both had talked about it and you confessed that you didn't always see Korra in just a friendly way either. You both had planned on telling her about it after everything that happened with Unalaq but knew that she had gone through practically two breaks up within a month and decided to wait. Turns out you waited too long because before you could even blink, Korra was paralyzed and on her way back to the South Pole. Asami kept getting nightmares about that day and what could have happened if Suyin didn't get the poison out. Over the years they did lessen and soon stop happening. When Asami went to talk to her dad the first time, she came back to you crying. She told you how she wanted to forgive him but she just didn't know how and if it was a good idea. You told her that you would stand behind whatever she decided to do and that if she did want to forgive him, to just take it slow.
When Korra did come back you were surprised by her hair. "Wow, I love what you did with your hair." Asami said, standing a few feet in front of Korra. Korra blushed and grabbed her short hair a little. She goes to respond before feeling arms wrap around her from behind, "Korra! Oh my spirits, you cut your hair it's so cute!" You said in excitement before giving Korra a kiss on the cheek, causing her to blush more. She just mumbles a thanks as Asami smirks, seeing the blush you and her caused. With Korra back, you and Asami talked more about finally confessing the feelings you both had been harboring for the Avatar for the past 3 years. But of course something had to happen and next thing you know, you are all fighting for Republic city against a giant machine with a spirit beam.
You had watched as Korra froze water over the robot and Asami's humming bird land on it. You watched at one of the robots hands broke out and was heading towards the humming bird. "No..." you said as you watched in fear as the hand got closer and closer to the humming bird machine. You let out a huge sigh of relief as you watched Asami (You knew it was her because she was on top.) get ejected from the humming bird, until you realized that she was the only one ejected. "Shit." As much as you wanted to go and comfort her immediately, you had a job to do and you wouldn't want her dad's death to be in vain. Your job was to more or less be back up for Korra because the room was too small for all three of you to fight in. When the machine crashed, you followed Korra and Kuvira into the spirit wilds. You were shocked when Kuvira turned the spirit beam on and made sure to help Korra and Kuvira dodge the beam. When the beam got shot right at the three of you, you helped strengthen the sides and top of the air pocket Korra made to protect you all.
When the three of you get sent into the spirit world, you get sent flying away from the other two. You end up landing on a sharp rock and getting stabbed by said rock. You would have just laid there and waited for someone to come find you but you knew that Korra and Kuvira were too occupied with each other and after getting the rock out of you, you were losing blood too fast. Stumbling towards the new spirit portal, you see Korra talking to Kuvira, who finally hangs her head in defeat. "Is it over?" You ask standing a little ways away from the two girls. Korra smiles hearing your voice before turning around and responding, "Yeah, maybe we can all go on a vacation after this." Korra jokes. You smile at her, "Thank the spirits." You say before falling to your knees. "Y/n!" Korra yells running up to and catching you before you face planted. Her expression turns from one of concern to horror after seeing the blood that was soaking your shirt. "Kuvira see if anyone has water! Hurry!" Korra says as she looks around and doesn't see any water. Of course they open a spirit portal in the one place that doesn't have water. "Come on, stay awake. Asami will kill both of us if you die." Korra says as she keeps your head on her shoulder and ties cloth around your wound.
Kuvira rushed out the spirit portal and stumbled forward after tripping on some rocks. She looked up to see Korra's friends standing in a defensive position, ready to attack. "Let Kuvira go or we will fire." Somebody in a mech suit said. Kuvira shook her head, remembering what was happening in the spirit world. "Stand down, this battle is done. But do any of you have water? It's an emergency." Everyone looked at her confused, "Korra's friend is injured pretty badly and where we landed in the spirit world didn't have any near by water." Asami immediately got worried when Kuvira said "Korra's friend". "Y/n!" Asami says out loud before grabbing Kya's hand, knowing she had water on her, and running towards the spirit portal. When she breaks through the portal she almost cries at the sight before her. Korra is sitting on the ground, with her legs open, and has your head on her shoulder and your body laying in between her legs. The wound in your back was very obvious and had bled through the cloth Korra wrapped around it. Kya had rushed forwards immediately and unwrapped the cloth from around your wound, causing you to cry out in pain. That sound finally broke Asami from her trance and she ran forwards.
Asami kneels down next to Korra and notices the shine of tears in Korra's eyes. Asami puts one of her hands on the back of Korra's neck and rubs her thumb back in forth in an attempt to calm her down. She takes her other hand and places it on your cheek, you shift your head a little to push into Asami's hand. "I'm going to do as much as I can but the wound is a lot deeper than it looks. She is gonna need a healing pool to completely heal." Asami nods her head before giving you and Korra a kiss on the cheek before running back out the spirit to get Tenzin to get a bison.
*Time skip to Zhu Li and Varrick's Wedding*
You and Asami sat on the stairs outside looking at the spirit portal. "I can't believe Korra made that." Asami nods her head in agreement, "Only Korra would accidentally make a spirit portal." You chuckle at her statement and hear a playful scoff come from behind you. "You both act like it was on purpose." You and Asami turn to see Korra standing behind you with her arms crossed over her chest and a playful glare on her face. You roll your eyes before slowly moving over to leave space between you and Asami for Korra to sit. You accidentally wince a little as you move causing Korra to rush forward a little. "No, y/n you don't need to move." "It's okay Korra... Asami and I actually need to... talk to you." You say a little nervously, which causes Korra to get suspicious. She sits down slowly before looking between you and Asami. Asami wouldn't meet her eyes and just looked down blushing. Korra turned to look at you, to see you holding a letter to her. She looks at you confused before slowly grabbing it. As she goes to open it, you speak. "This is the last letter Asami and I wrote to you, we just never got the chance to send it." Korra nods her head before focusing on the letter to read it.
(italics is Asami writing and bold is you writing.)
Dear Korra,
I hope your doing better and that you always know you can talk to me and y/n. We heard you're coming back in a couple weeks and are absolutely ecstatic. With that knowledge in mind we decided to not actually send this letter, we thought it would be better for you to read in person. Okay I took over because Asami is way to formal with this stuff. SHE HIT ME! The nerve of that woman I swear. But anyways, I'm going to make this short and simple. I'm in love with you, we're in love with you. Yes, you read that correctly. I can't speak for Asami but I didn't fully realize how deeply I was in love with you until I saw you laying on the ground after Zaheer had poisoned you. I always knew I had an attraction to you and felt more towards you than a friend should but seeing you laying there, almost dead, felt like a punch to the face. You could have died having never known about how much we love you, how much people love you. I would say that after seeing that, that I didn't hesitate to tell you because life is short but you were so broken afterwards and we couldn't put that on you. You needed time to heal and I understood that. My only hope now is that you haven't found somebody in the south pole. Now that y/n is done writing and being annoying, I want to agree with most of what she said. I know we had a rough start, with everything that happened with Mako (his eyebrows though), ignore y/n. But somewhere along the line of going from competition to friends, I realized that you dating Mako wasn't the source of my jealousy, well it was just not in the way most people thought. I wasn't jealous that you were dating Mako I was jealous that Mako got to be the one dating you. He obviously didn't know what he was doing when he broke up with you. I swear if Y/n takes this paper one more time I'm going to hit her again. Anyways, Y/n and I talked and we were wondering if you would be our girlfriend or at the very least go on a date with us.
With love,
Y/n and Asami
Korra's mouth was opened in shock. She was so sure that the letter was a prank or something but when she looked up at the both of you and saw how nervous you both were, she realized that it wasn't. "Both... You... You both love me?" You bit your lip nervously before nodding in response. Asami looked up in concern, "If you don't feel the same way, we can all act like this never happened. We wouldn't pressure you in---" Asami gets interrupted by Korra pulling her in to a kiss. You watch with a giant smile as Asami relaxes into the kiss and returns it. Korra pulls away and turns to look at you, "I can do that now right, I know I should've as---" This time Korra is cut off by you pulling her into a kiss. This time it's Asami smiling as Korra relaxes into the kiss. When you both pull away from each other, Asami speaks. "So I guess that's a yes to our question." Korra blushes and rubs her neck nervously, "Yeah... I love you guys too if that wasn't obvious." You and Asami share a smile before pulling Korra into a group hug. You all sit there for a moment before pulling away. You wrap an arm around Korra's shoulder and hold Asami's hand with the same hand. "So..." You say looking out at the spirit portal. "Y'all want to go on a vacation?"
*Flashback End*
"Whoa! Do you have a scar!?" You chuckle at your sons excitement. "Yeah I'll show y'all before bed tomorrow if you're good for Bolin and Opal tomorrow. That means best behavior." "Okay mom." Your son says with a serious expression, he wanted to see that scar. "You ruffle up his hair before moving to your oldest daughter's bed. "Now, what story do you want to here?"

Theory about why lightning became more common among firebenders in LoK compared to AtLA
A while ago I saw a post about how LoK ruined bending by making it common for firebenders to use lightning when in atla it was something rare that, as uncle Iroh put it, was the cold-hearted fire (don't remember the exact quote). So I was thinking about it and I have a theory for why that could've changed from one series to the other.
So in atla the culture is primarily older Eastern culture, and bending is practiced as something traditional that is unique to each nation. Bending is usually taught like a martial art and focuses a lot on being in tune with yourself. It focuses a lot on things like patience, balance, and your connection to the world around you.
In LoK we see the world and its culture do a significant shift towards more Western culture, with industrialization and the union of the nations being the main drivers of this change. Modern life and Western culture have lost a lot of the focus on those traditions, becoming fast-paced and focusing more on being practical and efficient, and less on people as individuals. Bending is more detached and is used more for labor than for personal growth. We see this in an episode on the first season of LoK, for example, where Mako finds a job using lightning to create electricity at the power plant. Nowadays meditation and martial arts are seen more as ancient traditions that can be really helpful for connecting with yourself, but tend to be more of a luxury than something commonly practiced, since a lot of us have to work all the time and don't have time for ourselves and when we do we don't always have the energy for it (and yes, this is a criticism on capitalism).
I think this detachment may make lightning a more common practice among firebenders, since it doesn't seem to require the same level of emotional investment (can't think of a better term rn). Fire was used to destroy during the war, which still requires emotion. It's fueled by hate and anger, sure, but it's not completely detached. And for people like Zuko, fire was something that must be treated with care, it requires enough focus and stability to keep it from being destructive, so being both self-aware and aware of your surroundings is crucial. Lightning was only used by Azula, who didn't really care about anyone and was very detached and calculating. Her bending was for serving a purpose but didn't need any emotion associated with it. Same for Firelord Ozai, who is also cold and calculating. This is also why in the finale, as Zuko points out during their agni kai, Azula can no longer use lighting, since her control on her own emotions has been slipping and leads to an emotional breakdown.
Lightning being used for labor is similar in that way, it serves a purpose but it requires no emotional investment. It's something you do as a repetitive job and that you probably do on autopilot. Mako doesn't really use lightning in other situations; when he's fighting he always uses fire because it's something he's actually invested in, being to protect his friends or the city or as a sport he enjoys. It's why we also don't ever see Korra using lightning. She's way too emotional and invested in what she does.
So yeah, this turned out long and I know there's been a lot of criticism on how fast everything changed in the world of avatar, which I completely understand. But this is just me trying to make sense of some of those changes, since some make more sense than others.

After a week ff7 ..... I can't get it out of my head .... 1 night no sleep = 20 pages a ca.1500 words .......🙈🙈
Naked....
(X/Y) closed her eyes and enjoyed the warm water running over her skin. Sighing slightly, she put her head back into her neck and let the warm water run over her face. Her arms went up as if she wanted to reach for the water running from the shower head but it ran past her fingertips. Her mind drifted away from the warmth of the water and the smell of her shower oil. The beautiful thing about taking a shower so early in the morning is that nobody is annoyed and you have enough warm water. She's been here in Edge City for 3 months now and with Tifa in the bar in 7th heaven and it's also owned by a Cloud Strife with an 'administration centre' Strife courier service. Well (X/Y) hadn't met this Cloud Strife yet but everybody tells a lot about him especially Marlene and Denzel are mega fans ...... But working in the bar was fun especially with Tifa, it was a heaven, a heaven in Edge it was a good job, sometimes hard but eventful ........
While the thoughts wander off at the same time....
When Cloud arrived it was almost sunrise, everything hurt him, the last mission was a tough one. And now, hot showers and into bed Cloud thought. As he slowly and quietly entered the bar, everything looked exactly the same as before his departure and it smelled the same, everything lay there quietly, maybe it was because everyone was sleeping peacefully, a small smile flitted across Cloud's face, he had been on the road for almost 4 months ... oh Gaia it was good to be back here, at home! Quietly he went upstairs to his room, listened to everything again quietly. Yes they are sleeping, but now quick 》 shower 《 he thought, quickly he slipped into his room. He put his sword in the corner and licked the holder/ his leather gloves opened the straps for his shoulder armour his cloak and took off his black top, then his boots, socks and pents, finally his boxer until he was naked. His clothes were now scattered all over the floor which didn't really interest him because his body was longing for a hot shower. He opened, the door listened again silently, a towel he could take freshly from the shelf. Tifa had stored them on a shelf in the bathroom for emergencies, and so he walked down the hallway followed by quiet steps that went over the wooden floor towards the bathroom ……
At the same time... ...
(X/Y) was done with showering the beautiful thing in the very early, really early morning was just showering without anyone bothering or annoying her because she showers so long. Smiling she got out, put a towel around her naked body, her wet hair lay over her right shoulder slightly twisted. She went to the bathroom door and at the same moment she opens it, she stands.......OMG!
... (X/Y) looked into beautiful sky blue balls with light green around the black iris .......... His Mako eyes stared into (e / c) balls, in the same second slid…
.. her towel to the floor in terror, and she stands naked as he stands before her. Cloud stood stiff in the doorway. (X/Y) couldn't stop your face from turning bright red.
Cloud's face was redder than a tomato when he stared at you. His eyes captured your naked body as he looked at you from top to bottom. His golden brows tightened and he licked his lips lightly. (X/Y) felt like time had stopped. Cloud's blue eyes glowed as he saw your body shaped perfectly, they looked up at Cloud's face and discovered a faint pink on his cheeks and his prickly blond hair looked like it had been blown away by the wind...
He must have just come back. Cloud couldn't bring himself to take his eyes off your body. They both looked at each other in surprise, though his face remained as unemotional as ever.
After a few minutes she closed her eyes, grabbed Cloud's wrist, before he could say anything, she pulled him slightly. He now slightly confused, lost his balance in a short moment, but he caught himself shaking his head again and his blond hair swayed gently back and forth and in a quick twisting motion she changed places with him. And now (X/Y) stark naked body stood in the hallway and in a split second the door was closed. Her head lay against the door and only now did she realize that she had held her breath. Her face was burning, the blush was still on your face. OMG Gaia what are you doing to me ... This is exactly how I always wanted my morning to be.she sarcastically embarrassed with a soft squeak ... Her face was still burning into a dark red. OMG OMG whispers (X/Y)》 Holy shit I'm screwed. …《
On the other side of the door...
By Gaia, who are you?
Cloud bent over and pressed his forehead gently against the door and heard you marble. His eyes were closed, for your figure had burned into his iris. Ghostly absent, he ran his hands through his blond spiky hair, his pulse racing and his heart racing. He had the feeling his heart had stopped, no has stopped. It jumped from his chest into yours, his thoughts turned to your sweet voice on the other side of the door ... with trembling breaths he turned around and leaned his back against the cold door. He carefully put his head back against the wood so that he could hear your voice marble again......... His thoughts racing miles per second 》I'm Cloud, Cloud Strife, Soldier/ Ex Soldier《!He tried to formulate but not a word came out ... ... ... Still with a delicate rose on his cheeks but grinning slightly like a honey pie horse, ......... fire red hair hanging wet over your right shoulder, the (e/c) eyes almost like his only without the slight green of the Mako and yet it had something of it, as clear as a starry night no more like Holy yes your eyes had the colouring of Holy, so beautiful before the stars rise, your face was as red as a tomato, as matching the hair, so adorably sweet. Delicate pale skin like his without blemish he would have loved to put his hands around your tender, narrow parts and pull you to him, so that your shapely ball could be against his firm chest, and he could pull his lips over your collarbone up to your neck to the intoxicating scent. Oh, Gaia! your scent!...he drew in with a deep breath. The warm shower scent of you in his nose and lungs intoxicated him. Ooo Gaia! you were pure aphrodisiac. As he heard footsteps and the marble grew quieter, Cloud pushed himself away from the door and walked towards the shower, still intoxicated by the sweetness of your appearance, he shook his head and moved his blond hair. You were too sweet, just sugar and the figure was breathtaking whatever you did. You took his breath away......
He let out another moan and turned on the water. But the thoughts from your naked body didn't let him....
A strange feeling surrounded his fingertips and his member felt...》 shit《 he moaned ... He wanted to move his hips and push his member into your femininity, he wanted to feel you ......
》Oohh at Gaia you are perverted Cloud Strife but what does she do with you fuck. ….《
He looked up with pleasure and pain.
Cloud gasped for breath and clenched his teeth as he grabbed the sight of you again and started to massage himself, his bounces going slowly, it felt good.
Cloud slowly gasped with pleasure as he enjoyed every sensation.
Cloud grabbed the wall with one hand as he lost himself in the sensation and the sweetness of desire and pleasure.
He groaned and groaned, Cloud went faster and stronger into it and continued hard. He became louder and more irregular well that water muffled the loud ones he made. His tail twitched with pleasure in his hand. With glassy eyes he saw you, your face erotic and warped with pleasure, rosy cheeks, eyes closed, your plush red lips slightly open, the head slightly tilted backwards into your neck. Cloud licked his lips, he leads on to your femininity 》 ......aah... aaahg !....shit!!..... oohh fuck !....《 he's panting loudly in your ear, your femininity was perfect.... and the lips, those sweet fluffy lips his name was moaning ...... he looked up at you and fucked you in these...《 fuck aha....aaahhh... 《 shower screen. He gave a loud sigh, clenched his teeth as he felt good and went over the edge... His blond hair hung wet on his face as he opened his eyes and his ejaculate disappeared into the depths of the drain. Cloud still had his head against the cool tile wall as he came down from his high ceiling breathing heavily. The now cold water was still flowing over his heated body and his thoughts were still wandering?.......

Headcanon: How Mermaid Powers Work - from a Scientific Point of View
Sup homies. I’m back with a long-awaited post - the science being the entirety of the mermaid power set. Recently I’ve been more into molecular science and physics than I'd ever thought I’d like to, so I’ve gathered around some information that I, personally found pretty interesting.
So what forces could make water move around like that? Or change into ice? Or generate a spontaneous wave? The show provides a lot of information about the elemental powers and we get some of the most solid evidence for it. For instance, the show establishes early on that celestial forces have a huge impact on a mermaid's powers, especially since the moon pool itself is made of a moon rock, that arrived to Earth by a comet, and we learned that the girls' powers are strongest during a full moon. The mermaids draw their power from the moon, and seem to be stronger at night. Their powers were magnified during the seventh moon cycle at the beginning of season 2, and every full moon they seem to have stronger powers (for instance, Rikki could create fire in season 1, despite only being able to heat water during that time).
We also learned that eclipses have the opposite effect on mermaids, as they completely lose their abilities when the moon is eclipsed. Just this information alone gives us key Intel about the underlying science behind mer-powers. A lunar eclipse is gonna block a mermaid's powers entirely. Now the moon doesn't emit any sort of solar radiation per se, but it does exert another major force on Earth – gravity. Gravity from the moon is in fact what makes all water on Earth bend in the first place - in the form of ocean tides and currents - all caused by water sloshing around on the face of the Earth. It's literally bent outward by the gravity of the Moon on one side and then sloshes back on the far side of the Earth, effectively creating these bulges on either side of the world where the high tides are, and the water in the middle is being sucked out, creating low tides. And the show absolutely knows that this connection exists and it does a really good job of reflecting it as a basic property of mermaid powers. From the earliest episodes of Mako Mermaids, the student mermaids are creating tides - it's literally the first power move that they are being taught. They're using the moon's tides to create waves and they use this basic skill a lot to move boats, for example - all starting with the fundamental idea that tides are controlled by the gravity of the Moon.
So, that's cool and all, but I hear you asking what about the more complex stuff, like Charlotte literally making water snakes?
Well as good of a start as gravity is, we know that things are gonna start to get a bit more complicated as we dip our toes into advanced mermaids powers. From the mid-air drinking to the good ol' water snakes, this level of precision makes my gravity explanation feel a bit laughable, so scientifically there has to be something else layered on here that's gonna allow mermaids to control water more directly. The good news is that it's theoretically possible to control water not with hand waving or various CGI shots but with the powers of electromagnetism.
Now most of us are generally aware that water is electrically conductive but not necessarily for the reasons that we expect. It's not the water itself that's electrically conductive, it's actually the salts that exist within the water. Regardless though, it's the reason that you don't go swimming in a lightning storm or do your hair in a bathtub. It's because the salts within the water are super conductive and lightning, or electricity flowing from your wall socket, loves to run through it, and as a result, will also run through you if you happen to be swimming in it. But electrically charging water isn't gonna do anything to make it move, it just makes it more dangerous.
That's why mermaids also requires the magnet part of electromagnetism. If someone were to ask you if water's magnetic, most of us would say no, right? It doesn't contain any sort of iron or metal, and doesn't really seem to do anything when I wave my magnet at it. That's not entirely correct; the truth is that water is actually diamagnetic, meaning that any magnetic field, whether positively or negatively charged, is actually gonna repel water. So if you put a magnet near some water you'll see the water is being very slightly bent by the magnet, pushed away from the magnetic field. This is quite literally hydrokinesis at a microscopic level, where the magnetic fields are pushing the atoms of the water away. So theoretically speaking a mermaid could do the exact same thing by creating electromagnetic fields that are strong enough they can actually push the water away from herself, creating all the cool awesome moves that they do in the show.
Now if you're a physicist this explanation is gonna be pretty simplistic, but for our purposes it actually explains a lot of things that we see play out in the series. Mermaids rarely touch the water as they're manipulating it, which makes sense because the water is always being repelled from them, and the intricate curves and shapes that you see them making are coming from the electrical field that's applied to the water. Water molecules generally have a small negative electric charge, so by creating small electrical fields that are also negative (because like charges repel each other) mermaids could theoretically redirect the flow of the water midstream, creating swirls, shapes, bubbles, whatever they wanted, which is exactly what we see them creating with more and more precision over the course of the show.
Cleo's earlier moves focus on establishing an electromagnetic field for simple shapes, but once she learned to control the fields with greater precision, it's only a matter of time before she's water-spearing it up with her best of snakes and what not. We also know that we're specifically dealing with electromagnetism and not simply magnetism because of Rikki. Just like Cleo, Rikki is also a master of manipulation of electricity and charged particles.
In season three, we see Rikki creating lighting on several occasions, and it's all based on the principle of generating an electrical current and directing it through the air. In theory, this same principle actually explains some of the weirder mermaid powers from Mako, including seaweed growing, or Zac's powers over Carly's vocal chords. All of which can be manipulated using electromagnetic fields. Create a strong enough field and you can bend a plant by bending all the water inside of it. By the same token you can bend a person if all the water in their organs and bloodstream are being pulled in one direction.
So electromagnetic manipulation explains a lot of mermaid powers, but it still leaves us with one big missing piece that I can't just make melt away: Emma and Bella's powers. These two's powers both involve significant phase shifting between water's states of matter, particularly liquid and solid. Ice or jello to water and vice versa. Emma's frost, the snow, even the rocks that Bella used to cross the stream - they are all valid techniques of mermaids not purely explained by electromagnetic fields. Or are they?
The techniques that we've covered involve manipulating the motion of large groups of water molecules – puddles, lakes, ocean waves - but what if we wanted to manipulate motion on a smaller scale? In chemistry and physics, you learn about thermodynamics, and you find out that on the molecular scale the idea of temperature is really a measure of motion. Molecules are moving fast? Well, we perceive that as hot. That bowl of soup you got there is no different chemically whether it's hot or cold - it's just that the molecules in your hot soup are moving a lot and in your cold soup they're just kind of sluggish. The same goes with ice and water. Liquid water molecules move and flow and wiggle and have a good ol' water molecule time, but ice molecules are locked together in a crystal lattice structure, just like you see in snowflakes. There's still a tiny bit of movement there, like, they can kinda wiggle around in their framework, but the motion is much less than in liquid or gas phase. We know that mermaids have the ability to turn water from liquid to ice, so what are they really doing in those instances?
Well, on a super small scale, they're manipulating water molecules to slow their individual movements, or, in physics terms, their kinetic energy. As they lose movement, they lose energy, becoming colder. If the mermaid is able to slow down the individual molecules enough they'll start to lock together into that crystal structure we call ice. The key is the use of those same electromagnetic fields to slow the movement of individual molecules to lock them in place. The same applies to viscosity. In everyday terms, viscosity is "thickness" or "internal friction" of a liquid. Thus, water is "thin", having a lower viscosity, while honey is "thick", having a higher viscosity. Put simply, the less viscous the fluid is, the greater its ease of movement (fluidity). By manipulating the water molecules and moving them closer, a mermaid like Bella could alter the viscosity of the water around her.
So basically, mermaids are just big ass magnets swimming the ocean. Which is a wonderful thing to think about in four in the morning instead of sleeping as I'm doing right now. Gn.

[ID from OP's alt text:
1: a legend of korra fancomic. at the top is a label that reads: (This is part of my ATLA/LOK crossover AU). (I think I'm gonna make it a highlight so people can find the earlier parts more easily.)
the first scene begins: korra is facing towards asami but avoiding her gaze, petting naga's head instead. she says: ... i'm grateful to you for saving the kids. but i can't exactly trust you when i barely know anything about you.
the next panel is a closeup of asami's eyes, and korra continues: who are you really? What did you do to get banished from the fire nation?
2: in a new panel, asami sighs and says, "you hate the fire nation. does it really matter?"
korra's speech bubble says, "well, yeah? I mean, for all I know you're a serial killer or something."
in a new, smaller panel, asami laughs and says, "okay, okay, nothing like that."
the next panel has no scenic background and is more cartoony than the rest of the comic as asami says, "no, my mother cheated on the Firelord with some nonbender and he got angry about it." asami gestures upward towards cartoonish icons of an angry firelord and her two smiling parents with a little pink heart between them. offscreen, korra says, "sorry what the fuck.""
3: a new scene, on the mountains in daylight. korra looks annoyed as she touches the sleeve of her badly-burned jacket.
asami, in the background, looks over at her, mildly concerned.
korra says, "i mean, my arm was barely burned to i healed it pretty easily, but that firebending jerk wrecked my only good jacket..."
korra proceeds to remove the jacket, revealing her more fitted top that shows off her muscles.
asami is blushing very hard in the background of this panel.
the last panel is asami's face, flushed pink with hearts in her eyes, staring at korra while ikki tugs on her sleeve and says "hey asami you're making a funny face."
4: a new, more serious scene. this one takes place at twilight; there's dramatic purple lighting and a rising, reddish full moon.
korra, who has apparently ripped off the sleeves of her jacket since the last scene, stares down mako, who is trapped in a block of ice and pointedly avoiding her gaze.
the second panel shows asami, meelo, ikki, and jinora observing the scene from about twenty feet away.
5: meelo turns to asami and excitedly says, "asami, asami, can we keep him?"
ikki and jinora look outraged and say, "what?!" "no way!"
indignantly, meelo turns to face them and waves his arms as he says, "easy for you to say, you're all girls! the whole group is girls! we need another boy!"
ikki pouts angrily, and jinora says, "THAT'S what this is about?!""
6: asami looks weirded out as she says, "sorry, meelo, but i'm pretty sure we're not going to KEEP the guy who's been trying to kidnap korra and turn her over to the firelord for the past three months."
outside of a speech bubble, indicating her thoughts, asami thinks, "though what we're actually going to do with him, i don't know..."
the next panel cuts to Korra facing the group with mako still stuck in ice in the background. she puts her hands on her hips and says, "so i decided we're keeping him."
mako yells "hey!' in the background."
7: a new scene. this one takes place in the middle of the night, several hours after the previous one. the first panel shows mako's bound hands behind his back, his fingers creating a small flame. he thinks, "it's a full moon."
he sighs and drops the burnt ropes to the ground, and thinks, "it would be stupid to fight her tonight."
the next panel is mako looking shocked as a wave of water splashes onto him and grabs him from behind.
8: the next panel is a closeup shot of korra from mako's point of view, extending her water arm toward the camera. she glares and says, "not so fast, captain. i told you--you're gonna tell me everything you know about EVERY place your people might've taken tenzin and pema--and once i've got them back, you can go free. not until then."
the second panel of the page shows korra lifting mako up in a swirling vortext of water as she says this; her expression is challenging, his is uncomfortable, and the full moon is prominent in the background.
9: mako, still struggling to escape the water prison, says, "you're crazy if you think you can just walk into the fire nation and start breaking into prisons left and right. if it was that easy, i wouldn't be here!" angry, korra snaps, "what's that supposed to mean?"

Korrasami x Reader
Summary: Telling your kids how you met their mothers.
Warning: Light cursing?
Ages: Korra- 29 (Flashback 1- 17) Asami-30 (Flashback 1- 18) You- 31 (Flashback 1- 19) Kids- 5
(You are a female.)
"Alright guys, you get one story each before bed." You say to your son and two daughters as you tuck them into bed. "I'm already in enough trouble with your mommies so we gotta play by the book tonight." Your kids laugh remembering what happened 2 nights ago. "Y'all need to chill, this is my last night on the couch, so bedtime needs to go perfect." They nod their heads in understanding. "Okay, youngest to oldest tonight." Your youngest daughter nods her head, "It's only by three minutes but I want to hear the story about how you and mom met and got together." "Okay, buckle up kids, it's gonna be a wild ride."
*Flashback Start*
You had been undercover in Amon's group for two years before you met Asami. You were the perfect person to go undercover, no one knew that there was a fifth air bender. No one also knew that you were related to Lin and Tenzin. That was fine with you because it means you could fly under the radar and do undercover missions. It also helps that you declined getting your master air bender tattoos, even though your dad was pissed about it. Meeting Asami was a complete accident. You had just worked your way to the third in command position under the lieutenant and were now more involved with Amon's plans. You had gone to a facility for the day to over see some training. This was also the same day team avatar decided to sneak in and see if they could learning anything more about Amon's plans. One thing about being one of the top leaders in Amon's group is that you always travel with a group of high trained equalists and that was not something the group was prepared for. You made sure you didn't fight because you didn't want to hurt the group of teens your dad had talked so highly about. It was hard not to jump in and aide the group when Asami got knocked out and they were forced to retreat without her.
You had taken her back to a secondary main base, not wanting Amon to get mad at you for taking her to the main base. Now it was just a waiting game for you, waiting for team avatar to come and rescue her. But until then you got to know her a little. She didn't trust you at all what so ever, until you showed her your air bending, small air bending tattoos that were easy to cover, and told her who your parents are. She was a little skeptical at first but started to believe you, it probably helped that you were cute too. By the second week, you were getting kind of worried. "Where are your friends? I didn't think you would be here this long." Asami sighs and shrugs her shoulders, "I don't know, I thought they would be here by now too." You bit your lip in thought before crouching down. You put your hand on Asami's cheek and she leaned into it. "I'll have you out by tonight." You say with a look of determination on your face. "But your cover could get blow, who knows what Amon would do if he found out you could bend." "Well I better not get caught then."
You arrived at one in the morning to get Asami, you also had a shift then so it wouldn't seem suspicious. You had brought sleeping powder and used your air bending to spray it on all the guards. You grabbed the keys from one of the guards and unlocked the door. You gave a sigh of relief when you saw Asami still there, she was supposed to be getting transferred tonight to the main base. She looks up when you walk in and smiles. You return the smile before rushing to get the ropes off of her. "I got new Intel that they were moving you to the main base tonight, some time soon. So we need to get you out of here fast. If anyone asks, I did not help you and you never met me during your time here." You say and once you finish untying her, Asami turns around and hugs you. You allow your self to relax a little in her hold before your phone starts beeping. You tense and pull away from the hug, then push her a little towards the door. "You need to go now! The trucks are less than five minutes out." Asami nods and you start leading her towards the back door. "If you follow the alley down and take the third right, it will lead you straight to the docks and I left a boat there for you to use to get to Avatar Island."
Asami nods and hugs you again, "Are you sure you can't come with me?" You sake your head with a small smile, "I wish I could but the end is near and we will meet again soon." She gives you a kiss on the cheek before sprinting out the door. You take a second to watch her run away into the night before finding a place to lay and knock yourself out with the last of the sleeping powder.
*Time Skip*
It was over. You couldn't believe, after two years of hard work, Amon is finally gone. You had heard from some officers that Lin, team Avatar, and the air bending family were on Avatar island (I just realized that its Air Temple island but I've wrote Avatar Island too many times to go back and fix it. So just know when I say Avatar Island, I mean Air Temple Island.) You were ecstatic to be able to see your mom, dad, and half siblings for the first time in two years. You had heard that your mom and Avatar Korra lost their bending and you wanted to be there for your mom. You were so excited you didn't even think about changing clothes, which might have been a bad idea. After using air to make you run fast over the water, you landed on Avatar island to see Lin, team avatar and the rest of your family in a group talking. "Guys!" you yell in excitement. When they turn to you most of them (Korra, Asami, Mako, Bolin, Tenzin, Jinora, Ikki, and Meelo) get into a fighting stance. You look behind you confused before realizing you hadn't taken off your mask yet.
"Ohhhh, sorry forgot about that." You say as you reach up to take off your mask. As you do Mako sends a line of fire at you. "Whoa! Chill out man!" You say as you air bend and disperse the fire before it hits you and yank your mask off. Tenzin, Lin, Asami, and your siblings all get big smiles on their face. Before Tenzin, Lin, or your siblings can move, Asami runs at you and jumps into you for a hug. You laugh as you put your hands under her thighs to hold her up as she wraps around you like a koala. "Well it's good to see you too Asami." Asami leans back and rolls her eyes before pulling you into a kiss. Your eyes widen for a second in shock before you close your eyes and return the kiss. When you both pull back you have a big goofy smile, "If it was gonna be like that, I should have just left with you."
*Flashback End*

Korra x Reader
Summary: You’re from the fire nation and learning to air bender, however you’re not the easiest to teach. So Tenzin handed you over to Korra.
Warning: Light cursing?
(Takes place a year after Season 4, Korra and Asami never go on a vacation to the spirit world.)
You were hard headed. Yep, that's it... Hard headed, stubborn, and strong as a bull with a fiery attitude. Maybe you got it from living in the fire nation for your whole life as a non bender, you don't know. What Tenzin knows though, is different. Tenzin knows you act exactly like Korra did when she first arrived to Air Temple Island. So, since Tenzin couldn't get through to you and Korra was almost done dealing with the new spirit portal, he thought it would be perfect for you to learn from her. "Korra!" Tenzin yells a little, getting the Avatar's attention. "Yes Tenzin?" "I need your help with something and since your almost done dealing with the spirit portal business, I thought now would be the best time to talk to you about it." Korra nods in understanding before sitting down on a set of stairs in front of Tenzin. "As you know, we have new air benders... And their training is going amazing, if I do say so myself..." Korra looks confused, "Then why do you need my help?" Tenzin rubs the back of his neck, in embarrassment? Concern? Korra can't tell. "Well one student I have hasn't been the easiest to teach. But they remind me a lot of you when you were younger... So I thought maybe you could train them?" Korra asks who before taking a sip from her water bottle. "Y/n." Korra spits out the water in her mouth, getting it all over Tenzin. "Y- Y- y/n!?" Korra asks with a blush on her face.
Tenzin looks a little confused at her sudden out burst, "Yes, Y/n. She is very stubborn like you were when you got here. It makes me think that you were supposed to be from the fire nation or y/n could secretly be from the earth kingdom with how they act." Tenzin pauses a little, getting into his thoughts. "Anyways, would that be okay? I know you haven't hung out with them much but I think it'd be good for them." Now something Tenzin didn't know was that there was a reason why Korra didn't hang out with you. It was the fact that Korra had a giant crush on you and it made her feel like a little girl instead of a twenty two year old. One thing Korra didn't understand was how Tenzin didn't know about her crush on the fire nation native. Practically all the air benders knew and Team Avatar knew and she would get teased about it constantly! Korra blushed as she answered, "Umm... yeah... sure."
You walked on to the training ground to see Korra already training. You whistle in appreciation seeing Korra in her earth bender outfit (Favorite outfit of hers tbh). Korra blushes at your whistling before shaking her head. "Alright you ready to get to work?" You smirk a little, looking Korra up and down. "Most definitely." You trained with Korra almost everyday for 5 months, in the beginning it was hard, the both of you hadn't spent much time together before and Korra was trying to figure out a way to train you but not make you dislike her. Luckily, you made it clear that trainer Korra was different than regular Korra. After sometime, Korra officially introduced you to Team Avatar. You got along super well with Asami, sometimes too well in Korra's opinion, and Bolin. You didn't like Mako's vibe at all and never really talked to him unless you had to. Team Avatar, before you were introduced to them, used to tease Korra so much about her crush on you. But now after seeing the way the both of you act towards each other, they can tell that Korra's feelings are not unrequited.
Which leads you to know, sleeping over at Asami's house with her and Korra. It was the middle of the night and Korra had just gone to the bathroom. Asami shifted her whole body to look at the mattress you were on. "So when are you going to tell her?" You rub your face, trying to get the blush that Korra caused off your face, before turning around. "Tell who, what?" Asami rolls her eyes, "When are you gonna tell Korra you like her as more than a friend." "What? I... You... We... Ummm..." Asami laughed at the shock on your face. "Oh come on, everyone can see how much the two of you like each other. Whenever we hangout me, Bolin, and Mako are like three third wheels. I mean we use to tease Korra about her crush on you all the time..." Your eyes are wide at all this new information. "Korra likes me?" Asami literally face palms before responding, "Yes, everyone can tell. Hell, even Tenzin can tell and you know how dense he is. I mean it took him months just to figure out that he wasn't the reason Kya was staying in Republic City." You nod your head in understanding, Tenzin is dense and if he thinks Korra likes you than she has to... right? "Holy crap! Korra likes me!" You say, jumping out of bed and bounding around the room with new found energy. "Korra like me! Oh my spirits, what do I do now!?" You ask starting to freak out. Asami rolls her eyes and answers like it's the most obvious thing in the world. You nod your head and sprint out the room, only to hit your head on the door.
*Time Skip*
"And then she smacks her head against the door!" Asami says as she and the crowd laugh. You blush in embarrassment and try to hide your face in Korra's shoulder but she is laughing too. "I know asking someone out in a hospital is a weird thing but it was such a Korra and y/n thing to do." Everyone lets out a laugh and gives a nod of agreement. Asami holds out her glass a little before speaking again. "Anyways, I watched Korra go through many low points in life but always come back from them, which makes me so incredibly happy to see her finally get her happy ending. I may not have known y/n as long but I've never met two people who were so perfect for each other. I wish you both the absolute best and for many more years together." You and Korra both raise your glass, as a thank you to Asami, and give each other a grin. "Now can we please have the newly wed couple come to the dance floor and have their first dance as a married couple." Korra stands up and holds her hand out to you. You give her a smile and let her lead you to the dance floor. When you both get to the floor, you wrap your arms around Korra's shoulders and she wraps hers around your waist. You look at Korra and give her a quick peck on the lips before putting your head on her shoulder. "You know... I think we might have beat Zhu Li and Varrick's wedding... Not by much though." Korra rolls her eyes at your joke before kissing your forehead. "You're lucky I love you."

neko-mun-rp:
By morning the other two knights had already got dressed and left to start their personal duties, leaving just Zack and Could in the nest with the king. Sephiroth was only partially awake as he waited patiently for his personal guard to be awoken by his mentor. Though when Cloud jumped it startled the naga who quickly recoiled away to hide underneath the blanket in a tight bundle out of pure instinct.
After a moment he peeked out at Cloud then to Zack who was laughing in amusement. Sephiroth made a loud hiss as he unraveled his body and glared in annoyance before looking to Cloud. “No more wine for you if you’re going to be all jumpy when you’re awoken.” The king stated. He calmed down and yawned, showing off his long fangs then rubbed the sleep from his eyes. Sephiroth was not a morning person and could sleep until midday if he was allowed, he was king though and could if he wanted.
“Zack says you must attend morning training, lets get that over with.” Sephiroth said groggy with sleep as he slithered out of the nest to make himself presentable. He brushed his long hair for a few minutes while the knights got dressed, Cloud’s clothes were waiting for him nearby neatly folded and now clean. Sephiroth put on his accessories and followed the pair out once ready.
Cloud's embarrassment over scaring his king was only rivaled by the fear of seeing the naga's fangs as he yawned. Making a mental vow to never drink alcohol again, Cloud groggily got dressed quickly into his uniform and followed Zack's lead as they all went outside and into the training grounds.
Cloud kept an eye on Sephiroth's movements as he and Zack took their respective spots in the sparring circle. Was he planning on watching?
"Alright, time for a brand new lesson," Zack announced and plucked a green orb out from the guard of the sword handle and tossed it to Cloud. "As a Royal Knight you're now granted special privledges most humans don't have. For example, humans are the only intelligent species that can't control magic, but with these we don't have to. Know what it is yet?"
"Materia," Cloud breathed, holding the glass orb up to the light and spotting something translucent swirling around inside. Not quite a liquid but not quite a gas either. Cloud read about these in the classroom, humans could not access the life stream like other species could, but they could still manipulate it to their will, they just needed a conduit to work through. Humans first came up with the technology by harvesting mako from special springs and using them against their enemies. Small orbs of manufactured magic now used to protect the royal family. "What type is it?"
"Fire materia, the most basic of basic and the easiest to control." Zack said. "These are only a fraction of what an actual magical being like Seph can conjure up but they'll serve our purpose just fine. Knights are granted two magic materia, fire and cure. There are more of different varieties but you'll only see them if you go on special missions or raise through the ranks. You're magic is only as strong as you are, so the more you improve the higher the level your materia will be."
Cloud gripped the orb tightly, wanting to harness it and make his mentor proud. Zack turned Cloud around and pointed at the straw dummies they practise their sword movesets on.
"Your goal for today is to successful cast the fire spell at that target from this distance." Encasing his larger hand around's Cloud's smaller hand still gripping the materia, Zack's eyes flashed green and Cloud felt something vibrate in the air that caused the back of his hairs to stand up. Almost like static spilling out of the orb and into Zack's veins, he raised their linked hands and aimed it at the dummy, then like a flash, a fireball shot across the square and set the target ablaze.
"Think you can handle that?" Zack smirked, eyes going back to their normal blue hue. Letting go and patting his student on the back, Zack said, "You're dismissed when you defeat the target."
Cloud looked down at the warm orb pulsing in his hand, to the target currently being dosed with water by the staff, to Zack who was waiting patiently with his hands on his hips, and then finally at Sephiroth.
Swallowing a lump in his throat, Cloud turned his back on both men and glared at the damp target. Clutching the materia tightly in his palm, Cloud envisioned what he wanted to happen, the shape and colour of the flames, the smell of the straw dummy burning to a crisp. He raised his hand, and...
Nothing.
Cloud shook his head, cleared his mind and tried again.
Nothing.
Again!
Nothing.
"We could be here a while," Zack snickered as he walked over to Sephiroth and sat down on the bleachers, basking in the morning sun as they watched Cloud flounder in the distance. "I know he's still wet behind the ears, but out of the new recruits Cloud has the most potential. Although I'm guessing you already knew that, considering you went ahead and hand selected him as part of your personal guard. Or was it the cute butt? Come on, you can be me honest with me Sire."

Asami x DualBender!Reader
Summary: It’s the final battle with Zaheer and you’re the only one who can save Korra
Warnings: Umm... Sadness I guess😅
Your eyes widen in fear as you watched the poison seep into Korra's skin, immediately causing her to cringe and cry out in pain. "Korra!" You yelled desperately as you watched your best friend struggle with the avatar state, repeatedly going in and out of it. "What is it doing?! Korra!" You start pulling in your chains harder as Korra seemed to zone out. "This is taking a little too long. Administer the poison to the other one." Zaheer says. You start struggling again as the poison got closer and closer to you. "No, no, no..." You kept mumbling over and over angina trying to get away. "Ahhh!" You let out a scream as you get the poison enter your skin. It felt like a million metal needles poking and then stabbing your insides all at one.
You stared at the ceiling cringing and crying out in pain as you felt yourself being pushed into, what you called, your avatar state. You might have only been able to bend 2 elements but you still got a avatar state thanks to the small part of Ravaa inside of you. "Ah it's finally time." You hear Zaheer say and you look to the side to see Korra all the way into the avatar state. "No!" You yell out struggling against your chains again, trying to ignore the impending doom you're feeling. You watched as Korra managed to break out and chase after Zaheer. "I gotta help Korra!" You mumble yell to yourself as you start to burn and hopefully melt the chains that where holding you up.
You heard noise coming down the tunnel and got scared that it was Zaheer coming to brag about a victory but was pleasantly surprised when you saw Bolin, Mako, and Tonraq. "Watch out!" You yelled as you saw rocks being shot their way. "We'll handle them, you get y/n and go help Korra!" Bolin yelled before jumping down to fight Ghazan with Mako following behind him. You finish getting your hands out of the chains right as Tonraq cuts the chains on your feet with water. You manage to slow your fall with some air bending and land next to Tonraq. "Let's go hep Korra!" You say with determination but as you take a step forwards, you almost immediately collapse and face plant. Luckily, Tonraq is there to catch you before you hit the floor. "Are you okay?" You shake your head at his question. "I'll be fine we need to go though. Korra is going to need help." Tonraq gives you a nod before throwing your arm over his shoulder and helped you walk down the tunnel and towards the exit.
"Y/n!" Asami yells as she sees Tonraq and you exit the cave, with Tonraq practically pulling you along. You get a shot of adrenaline and relief when you see Asami and momentarily forget the poison in your system as you reach the others. "Asami." You say with a smile as you let go of Tonraq and pull Asami into hug. The hug only last for a second however, before you feel the pain of the poison hit again harder than before. "Ugh." You let out as you crumple into Asami, who has to fall to her knees to support your all your dead weight. "Y/n! What's going on what's wrong?" Asami asks worried as your eyes flashed white before turning back to normal. "Zaheer did something... I need to help Korra... It'll put her into the avatar state and Zaheer will kill her." You say as you pull yourself up with Asami's help.
You listen in as everyone argues about what to do. "I can fly my bison up there." "You'd never be able to keep up with Zaheer." Lin responds to Kai, immediately shutting down his idea. You steal yourself for a second before standing tall and walk towards the group, ignoring Asami's worried gaze burning into the back of your head. You place a hand on Lin's shoulder as you enter the circle. "Whatever you think of do it fast... I..." You get cut off by a truck load of pain. You lean forwards and wrap your arms around yourself to keep from falling over in pain. Everyone looks at you worried and you feel Lin place a hand on your back. You unconsciously shake it off as you stand up, eyes shining a bright white. "I'll help Korra for as long as I can." You say before taking a few steps back and use fire bending to shoot into the air.
As soon as your reach the two fighting, you watch as Korra stands in water and throws ice at Zaheer. One of her shots hits Zaheer's foot and starts pulling him down. Korra seems to go for the final punch but her fire bending seems to go out mid air and she goes falling towards a ledge. Without thinking, you fly towards Korra and use your body to shield hers as you hit the ground and roll. You sit up with a groan before looking down at Korra. "Korra wake up!" You say hitting her face lightly. All Korra does is mumble in response. You lean her against the wall and stand to look for Zaheer. As you do, you immediately get hit with a strong gust of air and get tossed into another ledge.
"You know I must say I'm surprised." Zaheer says as he floats in front of you. You sneer at him and stay throwing fire balls at him along with blasts of air. "I didn't expect you to last this long. I know you only have a tiny piece of Ravaa in you but I clearly underestimated how much power that small piece gave you." Zaheer says as you two fight. You just grunt in response, trying to ignore the pain the poison is bringing you. "But I subdued the avatar and I will subdue you to!" Zaheer yells as he send a powerful blast your way, slamming you into the wall next to Korra. Your eyes flicker at the impact and watch as Zaheer stands in front of you. "You can't fight the poison and me." He says with a laugh.
You hang your head in submission, body completely worn out. You only start to struggle again when you feel your body being sat up and felt the air being snatched out of your lungs. You notice Korra struggling against the invisible restraints too and feel a little relief knowing that she was still alive. You lungs however, didn't get to feel the same relief and felt like they were seconds away from collapsing. After a few seconds of dying, you feel the restraints slip away and air come back your lungs. You look around confused as you gulp down air to see that you were stuck in some kind of wind tornado. You looked up to see Zaheer holding Korra's hand and trying to pull her out and away from the wind. With the last amount of strength you have, you manipulate some of the air currents to push you up and towards them. Only to give Zaheer a massive punch across the face causing him to drop Korra's hand and try to just escape himself. You watch in relief as you see one of Korra's chains grab him and start to pull him back down. As you fall back to earth, you feel the wind rush past you as your body starts to completely shut down.
It's peaceful for a second, the wind rushing through your hair reminded you of all those nights you and Asami would race through Republic City in her car. It remind you of all the times Asami would run her hands through your hair when you both cuddled or slept together. Or even the times where she would unconsciously do it before pulling you into a kiss after a long day of Avatar or CEO business. That peacefulness immediately ended as soon as your back slammed on to the rock hard ground, causing all the air to leave your body for the second time that day. You looked to the side only to watch as Korra collapsed a few feet away from you. "Korra! Y/n!" You heard get yelled before you feel the top half of your body moved and propped up against someone. Your eyes slowly flicker out of light and turn back to normal as you see Asami's face hover over yours. "No... don't cry." You say weakly with a smile, "You're too pretty to cry." You say as you wipe tears away from her eyes causing Asami to smile and let out a watery laugh.
"Korra... Korra it's dad..." You hear and look to your right as you watch Korra attempt to lift her hand to touch her dad's cheek, only to seemingly pass away before she could. "AHAHA you are too late! The poison has done its job and soon the half baked avatar will be gone too!" Zaheer yelled out triumphantly watching the seen before him. "Wait the poison is metallic!" Jinora says as she grabs Suyin and Lin's hands and dragging them over. Everyone watches in silence as the two earth benders seemingly pull the poison up your body and out of your mouths. Both you and Korra's eyes flashing white before returning to normal. You still feel weak but don't get the waves of pain from the poison anymore. Korra on the other hand still hasn't moved an inch. "What? Why isn't she waking up?" Tonraq asks completely devastated. You hear Zaheer about to say something but he gets instantly shut up.
You're sad as well but realize that you have to do something. The avatar cycle and Korra can't end like this. "Do you trust me?" You whisper out towards Tonraq, who is holding onto Korra for dear life. "Of course." He responds immediately. "Y/n." Asami says in a low warning voice, scared about what you might do. "I love you." You say, flashing Asami the same goofy grin she fell in love with before turning to look back at Korra. Everyone watched as your eyes lit up and you went into your avatar state. You knew you didn't have that much of Ravaa in you but you hoped it was enough. You used the last bit of your strength and stretched your hand out to touch Korra's arm. As soon as you made contact, both you and Korra's eyes lit up a bright white and everyone watched as part of your body turned blue. The blue slowly traveled up your body and over the arm that connected you and Korra. As soon as the blue ring left your hand and went to Korra, your eyes stopped shining and your head fell back. Everyone watched as the blue light traveled up Korra's body and disappeared, a few seconds later Korra's body lurched forwards and she suddenly woke up gasping for breath.
While that was going on, all Asami could focus on was you. The love of her life, her soulmate's life was slowly slipping away. "I did good right?" You asked as you gave Asami the best smile you could offer. Asami gave you a small smile as well as she let tears drop off her face. "You did great." You smiled again and let your eyes close for a few seconds as Asami ran her hand through your hair. "I'll miss you..." You say, knowing that your time was almost up. "Don't say that..." Asami says as she pulls you closer. "I'm sorry we'll never get to grow old together like we planned... Promise me you'll move on. I know it won't be for a while but promise me that some day you'll let somebody into your heart the way you let me in." "Y/n, you know I can't-" "Promise me please." You say a desperately, you needed her to know that it would be okay to move on after you were gone. "I promise." Asami says as she pulls you face closer to hers. "I love you so much." You both whisper at the same time before Asami closes the gap. The last thing you feel is Asami's lips and a tear from her eyes.
"Dad you're alive." Korra said in relief as she looked up at her father. "I am and I'm never letting you go again." Tonraq says pulling Korra into a tight hug. They both pull away when they hear sobbing to the left of them. Korra looks to her left to see Asami crying into the chest of your lifeless body. Korra's eyes immediately fill with tears. "No." She whispers out as she reaches for your hand that was still stretched towards her body. "Y/n! No please!" Korra says letting loud sobs rip through her body. Her childhood best friend was dead.
*Time Skip*
Your funeral had been scheduled a few days after Jinora's arrow ceremony. It was also the same day Korra was shceduled to leave to the South Pole to heal with Katara. Korra looked like the shell of her old self as she said goodbye to her friends, who were all dressed in black. Asami wasn't looking any better either as she handed Korra a box filled with your stuff in it. "I think Y/n would want you to have this. It's filled with stuff that would remind them of home." Asami whispers as she leans down to give Korra a hug. "I'm sure there is more stuff, I just haven't been able to enter our room since..." Asami trails off, having flashbacks of the last night you two had in your shared room to watching the light fade from your eyes as you died. Korra nodded in understanding and grabbed Asami's hand, giving it a friendly squeeze. "I understand." She said before being loaded up into the ship and setting off.
Everyone slowly left the dock as the ship sailed out of sight till it was just Asami left. She stared into the water as she felt the circular object in her pocket. She took out the betrothal necklace she had made to give to you once everything was over. You might not have been a water bender, but you grew up in the South with Korra and followed a lot of the tribe's customs. She kissed the necklace before letting it drop into the ocean in front of her. "I'll keep my promise, Y/n. But once my time here is done, you better be the first thing I see." Asami says as she watches the necklace sink into the dark blue ocean. Once she can't see the betrothal necklace anymore she walks away and off of the docks.
