Maggie: Ele atualmente faz parte da Liga da Justiça Europa. Uma divisão da Liga da Justiça que atua em missões apenas no continente europeu. E as vezes presta apoio para a equipe principal. A sede da equipe deles fica em Paris, França. Então o Gunther está morando lá. Meu irmão dizia que não iria aceitar fazer parte de nenhuma outra equipe que não fosse a Liga da Justiça. Ignoring the fact that I got the screenshots I use here from the Daily Mail, I kind of can't believe when players suggest this kind of stuff.

I understand the impetus to make football a more commercial or exciting product, even if I disagree with many a suggestion that's been made, but I do think there's a special place in my heart for Piqué's suggestion because it's just so ignorant of the past.

This would, in effect, be a do over of the Golden/Silver goal rules implemented by FIFA and UEFA, respectively. Neither of which produced the outcome of a more exciting period of extra time.

The fatal flaw with the suggestion is that, along with probably breaking the points structures of leagues on some level, it ignores that a nil-nil draw is by far a better outcome than a one-nil loss, nothing gained or lost vs nothing gained and a loss of goal difference, so it would just incentivise a greater defensive focus in certain situations because there's fundamentally more to be lost than gained.

Simply put, we as humans are inherently risk averse, and by implementing a level of artificial risk, we would probably rather take the option where we lose less.

The underlying issue with the idea is that it simply just runs up against the idea that football isn't transactional.

Yes, it's entertainment, but the key thing with team sports is that the priority was never traditionally focussed on the transactional nature of the club to supporter agreement, if you will. It has been a passion based relationship for a very long time, and treating it as a value for money entity kind of ends up showing that this suggestion isn't about the "fans" as such, it's about the money paid for tickets.

Additionally, the comparison to baseball and basketball is clunky at best. Both of those sports have frequent scoring opportunities, basketball scores reach triple digits a lot of the time, and baseball's run scoring means you could theoretically score with every player. Football doesn't have that, the average goals per game hovers around the 2 to 3 mark. The comparatively higher frequency of scoring means that basketball and baseball are much less likely to see a standard match result in a draw and have to go to overtime or extra innings.

Whilst rule changes can and should be suggested, I think it's also incredibly important that people making the suggestions understand the history and background of a sport when trying to improve it, and people in general should be aware of the history and why things may not make sense or be easy on paper but not to implement.

On top of that, the "issue" of draws is approached in a purely transactional manner. It's the idea that those who pay should be entertained, and it's not that they're there because they want to be there. Obviously, sport isn't as simple as that, and demographics have changed and are changing, but irrespective of that, it's a very cold, businesslike look at football
