The Best of All by Karla Sorensen

The Best Men #2

Just the book I needed to read today ~ All the feels ~ Smiles, chills, tears, and a HEA for Zoe, Liam, and Mira ~ Loved it!

What I liked:

* Chris & Amie: wonderful people with the world ahead of them, died too soon, changed the lives of more than one person in their lives

* Zoe Valentine: accountant, divorced, believe(d) in fairy tales, good friend, bright, caring, affectionate, wants what is best for Mira

* Liam Davies: English, professional football player, strong, fast, guarded, grumpy, there for his team, good friend, overwhelmed by the the death of the friend and the thought of being Mira’s guardian, grew a LOT in this book

* Mira: daughter of Chris & Amie, orphaned too young, bright, charming, active, adorable, and the tie that brings Liam and Zoe together

* Liam’s Teammaates and coaches: there for one another, supportive, interesting

* Rosa, Martha, and Phyllis: three older women friends of Zoe’s that provide a spark to the story

* Liam’s mother: strong, caring, survivor, did what it took to keep Liam and herself safe

* Carol: family therapist that had a big impact on Liam

* The plot, pacing, setting, and writing

* That I was drawn in, felt a part of the story, cared about the outcome and would have liked to have been friends with more than one of the characters

* All of it really except…

What I didn’t like:

* Amie’s ex-husband who really did not deserve her

* Thinking about the impact of the death on the survivors

* Having to say goodbye to the characters and wondering if there will be a book three in the series

Did I enjoy this book? Yes

Would I read more in this series? Definitely

NHL Expansion Draft 2021: Full list of players available for Seattle Kraken

The NHL announced the protected lists for the 30 teams involved in the NHL Expansion Draft. (Vegas is exempt.) With the names of those protected come the guys who could be snatched up by the Seattle Kraken. There are a number of big names that have everyone trying to figure out just what general manager Ron Francis will do. Will he take Canadiens netminder, and future Hall of Famer, Carey Price and his hefty cap hit? Is Vladimir Tarasenko the sniper he needs or is his health a big question mark? There's also a number of guys who would fit in nicely but are free agents and the chances of signing them are not high (i.e. Alex Ovechkin). EXPANSION DRAFT: Date, time, rules & more for Seattle Kraken team selectionRegardless of what Francis, coach Dave Hakstrol and Co. end up doing, there's a good chance the Kraken will be a playoff contender in just their first season. Excellent introduction to a new series and a wonderful new-to-me author I will gladly read again!

What I liked:

* Charlotte Cunningham: Restoration Expert, loves old homes, guarded heart, honest, caring, feisty, isn’t afraid to express her feelings, attracted to Burke though it takes a while to admit it

* Burke Barrett: retired NFL player, had a difficult childhood, grumpy, loves his sister and sister’s children, takes care of others, takes a while to realize what his feelings are and how to express them

* The dynamics of the relationship between Charlotte and Burke and watching the romance develop

* Daphne: Charlotte’s aunt, hippie type in the past, in a relationship with Richard, a bit on the wild side

* Tansy: Burke’s sister, divorced, mother of nine-year-old twins Ford and Felicia, wise, loving, and has a good relationship with her brother, hope she gets her HEA and a book of her own

* Chris & Amie: good friends of Burke and Liam, deceased too early, bequeathed the Campbell House to Burke and their daughter to William – their presence is strong and felt throughout the book though they are never seen in person

* Liam Davies: football player, guardian of Chris & Amie’s daughter, Mira

* William: builder who focuses on restoring historic homes, would like to see him in a book of his own
