Just finished reading Imbalance, and I came up with a theory.

Liling and Yaling have similar names, while Ru stands out. While I’m sure this was deliberately done by Faith for narrative purposes, what if there’s an in-universe reason as well?

What if Ru’s name was originally Ruling, and Liling shortened it once it became clear Ru wasn’t a bender?

“You don’t get to have the -ling anymore, only benders get the -ling.”

It would be a sad yet plausible way for Liling to make Ru feel less special and less like family.

After all, the last thing Liling wants non-benders doing is ruling.

Colleen and Liling live together in like a really big fancy house and they're both extremely out of touch. Colleen is more sociable and like knows social cues better but neither of them know how to spell broke neither of them know the concept of not being able to afford something

Liling is more of the quiet one in their relationship she spends a lot of time up in their room reading while Colleen usually hosts parties

even with this i think they're really affectionate and Colleen is definitely touch starved so

Liling would just. talk to Colleen about all her interests or a fun thing that happened in one of her books and Colleen would like rest on her arm and listen to her ramble
