Eternal Love of Dream: episode 56

The final episode. Ah... here at last. This also includes my review about the drama as a whole... so if you want to check that out... you’re in the right place I guess? 

Last time we’ll be seeing the opening credits. I don’t really tend to rewatch dramas unless there’s a strong compelling reason that draws me back to it. I would just also like to give a shout out to the staff or person behind these beautiful opening credits. The background and colours *chef’s kiss*

Some praise for the special effects one last time.

You sure do doubt Donghua a lot.

Very practical thinking here... like... is no one going to stop her? Did you forget about your child? Bai Gungun has not spent a day away from his mother until she came back up to the nine heavens, and yet, she’s willing to go die with the love of her life with not a single thought about her baby. I mean... I do get that there are people who would be willing to do this but when there’s a kid involved, I would also think about the kid too. Also I’ve always wondered whether Fengjiu would have told Donghua about Bai Gungun. Would she have told him in this situation or she left and Donghua didn’t have to succumb to his fate. 

It is his fate after all. 

The evil queen gave us an iconic eye roll. I’m so sorry I have to give it to her. Yes. Queen. 

What a badass couple they are. 

Ngl gonna miss her. She was iconic. But also props to the writing team, they had to make do with who they had actor wise. (In the novel, Ye Hua, Mo Yuan & Bai Qian are involved in this final fight as well) 

I recently reread this scene in the novel and let me tell you, I teared up. 

Will I ever get tired of the love confessions being told at the last minute? Probably not.

I felt this. 

Is it just me or is Donghua an acoustically pleasing name to hear? Sounds weird I know but I love the pronunciations of some words in different languages. 

The most upsetting part of this episode was not because the series is ending (well has already ended) but the last thought Fengjiu had before she fell unconscious was Donghua being potentially dead. 

I’m still not on board with this couple... Yan Chiwu deserves so much more. 

I dig this friendship though. 

My bby is back. 

Love this. Especially Xiao Yan’s reaction. I kind of wanted it to be dramatic and Xiao Yan would faint, I could imagine him doing that. 

Finally they meet. This also marks the end of the novel. 

Beautiful.

Ahhhh... Bai Gungun gets the final line of the series. Too stinking cute. 

I bid you all adieu... thank you for your patience, lovely comments and thoughts on this drama. But before I finish, let’s do an overall review. 

Would I recommend this drama? Yes.  Will I be rewatching? Maybe.  Do I prefer the novel or the show? Novel. *I’m just a book person...* 

Viewers who consumed the hit Chinese drama, Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms (Eternal Love) will also recognise cast returning to their respective roles. Dilraba Dilmurat, Gao Weiguang, Li Dongheng and Wang Xiao all return bringing a familiar essence to the show. However, there are fresh faces that each brings something new and exciting to the show: Huang Junjie, Baron Chen, Yuan Yu Xuan and Fang Zhi Xin.

The main focus of this drama is one couple navigating together - sometimes not - through three lifetimes. Our leads, Fengjiu (Dilraba Dilmurat) and Donghua (Gao Weiguang) are supposed to have no fate with one another. However, Fengjiu, the female lead, refuses to believe this and consistently follows the male lead. What little destiny they had together begins to form into one and probably considered to be an epic one at that, in its own way. A drama that you can easily be swept away in through its storytelling, chemistry or the moments that can easily make you laugh. It's relatively easy-going and watchable at either a binging rate or a relaxed pace. By the end, you'll find yourself to be charmed by the sweet and well deserved ending for the main leads. 

There’s just a couple of things I want to nitpick briefly, (please remember just because they didn’t sit well with me you may find they were alright). 

1. I felt there was a lack of relationship building between Fengjiu & Ye Qingti. When I look back on their scenes together, there hardly feels as if a friendship was formed between them. In the novel, it’s just mentioned Ye Qingti was Fengjiu’s husband and I think that aspect would have worked quite well. 2. I wish we saw more of Donghua’s despair, his heartbreak and his pain after Fengjiu disappeared. The search for Fengjiu was so extensive, he didn’t want to lose her, he assumed Fengjiu had gone to the mortal realm but didn’t check for her there because there was billions of realms. The scenes I wanted to see with Donghua were taken away and the brief search for Fengjiu was given to Cheng Yu and Lian Song.  3. I really hoped to have seen a scene between Donghua & Bai Qian (Donghua personally invites Bai Qian to view blooming lotuses however the subject changes to Fengjiu) The scene is included in the show however between Lian Song, Bai Zhen and Zhe Yan.  4. Some of the camera shots. For example, when Fengjiu discovers she is pregnant and the camera zooms in. I felt they were really out of place and slightly awkward. 

Overall rating: 9/10

What is stopping Xie Qingcheng to completely accept Heyu? And What are your predictions for CFC?

Well, kind of what I wrote here: he has to accept himself to accept He Yu, and that's where Xie Qingcheng draws the line. It's not you it's me, except they really go together here--he can't accept one without the other now.

Mmm predictions wise I am bad at plot specifics, but okay with thematic basics. My basic ones are that Xie Qingcheng and He Yu will end up together and alive, and I really don't see any set up for a tragic ending. The story's just not written like a tragedy, even a romantic one.

Other specifics:

He Yu will end up in the torture dungeon.

Chen Man is a villain somehow, or at the very least Xie Qingcheng will be in danger because of him ("stay away from Chen Man" has been repeated just too many times).

Xie Qingcheng might temporarily die but I hope not because I dislike resurrection tropes but it'll probably happen with someone because Meatbun likes that trope.

He Li will have some sort of redemptive moment, because he's a kid whose every bratty action is really just a child trying to assert that he matters because he feels like he doesn't. Like he wouldn't exist if He Yu was perfect and he knows it. Give the kid a break!

Xie Xue might get pregnant because while I don't know if MB can actually go full mpreg in this story, there's enough pregnancy talk and set up in the story for it to lead somewhere.

Wei Dongheng might well die because he's too good for the world, but I hope he doesn't. I'm clinging to Xie Qingcheng's dream of foreshadowing Xie Xue leaving him for the man she'd spend forever with as actually being foreshadowing. Don't take WDH away Meatbun!! Please!

The World's Worst Parents (the Yus) will find out He Yu is gay (if his mom doesn't already know, and she well might) and that's not going to go well at all.

Psychological ebola will be mostly cured by the end of the novel.

The organization will be defeated but the reality will be that someone else will try something similar in the future.

What awaits us?

But, honestly, a happy ending as well.

        Sometimes I think about how I said to Admin Ro I wouldn’t be mad if Deng Lun took the role of Lian Song in a Lotus Step adaption in place of Li Dongheng. Look at his cute, dumb face. Totally could match Lian Song’s gooey face vibes as well as having phoenix eyes. 

        Nor would I be mad if Luo Yunxi were to. He very much also has a good Lian Song vibe going on. And he’s a popular fancast because of his role as Runyu.

         I definitely wouldn’t be mad if someone lesser known got the role, that would probably be more of my hope for casting.

Eternal Love of Dream - Episode 56 Final Episode

Are we ready for the end? No. We are not.

But we are still going to press that play button.

So Donghua used Xingguangjie to seal Miao Luo and she’s not really happy about it. No kidding. So oh well. Let’s die together she says. Chiwu regains consciousness. He believes in Donghua. Naive.

Fengjiu tells Chonglin that she wants to see Donghua one more time, but it’s most likely too late now. Oh wow, she really wants to go die with him. Since we don’t have a fate together, we must at least have enough to die together. What about Gungun? Chengyu asks Lian Song where’s Donghua. Seems like Lian Song can’t hide anything from Chengyu, so he tells her he’sm ost likely to be at the Fanyin valleay. If she’s fast enough she can see him once again. Once they get there, it’s only to notice  thant only Donghua can break down the barried for the Xingguangjie. Chiwu is like what’s wrong with you guys’ face? Once he’s done fighting, Donghua is just going to come out, no biggy. So he finally knows... Poor Chiwu... Then Fengjiu calls out Donghua’s name. He hears her. Not good, he needs to stay focused. Of course Miao Luo uses that moment and strikes. Fengjiu force her way inside the barrier thanks to the ring and Qingti... wth? Qingti takes out of a nowhere a rope and pulls her back, he doesn’t want her to die for nothing. She says she only wants to have a closer look. No. She completely forgot about her kid and is being suicidal. Qingti don’t let her go! This is so stressful.

Zhe Yan and Bai Zhen are in the peach blossom forest when petals starts falling down and Bai Zhen wonders if someone’s dying. Zheyan closes his eyes and opens them. Oh crap, this is bad. And he takes Bai Zhen with him to I don’t know where yet. Well, probably Fanyin Valley. Just right when Fengjiu escapes from Qingti. You did your best Qingti. I liked the human version of yourself better though. Fengjiu jumps inside the valley. She starts fighting Miao Luo to protect Donghua. But as she gets hurt by Miao Luo, she also not doing to thanks to the blood of the red nine tail fox. It dispersed her cultivation. Fengjiu while Donghua fights with Miao Luo put some of her blood on her sword before strikin. But she’s not strong enough to beat her, but she did a lot of damage anyways. Donghua says to go and hide, he will take her back home, but she’s like you’re lying to me again. She says don’t always push me away and covers Donghua’s sword with her blood. They both stab Miao Luo but it’s not enough to kill her. Oh. It works. She dies.

Outside they are all worried and Chiwu is like there’s so many of you, don’t tell me you don’t have a way and then Zhe Yan is like well there is a way. Don’t tell me he’s going to drop a bomb and take in Gungun. Leave that baby alone. Okay no, he says they can use all of their forces together, it’s just that it might make everything blow up. It’s a risk.

Donghua wonders how to send engjiu out. She says if it’s because she hurt him he also hurt her so they are quit. She wants to be with him, he also wants her to be with him. He says it’s true, he also wants to take her everywhere with him, he hoped she would come. He never wants to be away from her, but it’s not okay, she still has many years in front of her. She then says even if he doesn’t want to take her, she’s afraid she’s going to go first. Wow. She doesn’t even remember that she has a son to provide for. She says it hurts and asks him to comfort her, say that he loves her. This is crazy. Am I the only one thinking about the poor kid? She asks him to promise that when he dies he holds her hand. He promises. Is she dead? Oh, they are both dead. But Gungun then?

The others are still working on that barrier. Everyone has a hard time but Zhe Yan and like Lian Song. You see who are the bad ass ones in there.

Oh she’s not dead. Not yet. But he is. Well, he doesn’t open his eyes. Oh wait, he opens his eyes. She tells him not to clos eyes, to listen to her. He says to forget about him. Lol. She would never be able to do that. Well he’s dead now I guess? And her? Well at least she’s unconscious. Their blood then meets and the barrier breaks from inside. And we are back to Qingqiu with our gorgeous queen of the Biyi Bird tribe Jie Lv.

Ji Heng is making statues. Chiwu comes to get her. She hugs him. What? Now she loves Chiwu? Well, I am happy for hi, even though I wish he would have dated Jie Lü. I thought he would never get his happy ending with Ji Heng. Well what she says makes sense. It’s a little out of the blue, but oh well. Was she sculpting figurines of Chiwu earlier? What do you guys think? Chiwu is so cute, he’s so happy.

Lian Song is now playing chess with Qingti and he says Qingti looks more and more like Donghua. Well at least Qingti is smiling a little more. Then Chiwu comes. And Zhe Yan, Siming, Chengyu. And Finally Xia Guchou brins in Gungun. Everybody’s like who’s that kid and Guchou is like it’s obvious just by looking at him. Lian Song guesses that hacing white hair like that it must be Donghua’s son? Chiwu and Chengyu’s faces are priceless. Zhe Yan is like hehehe I knew. Gungun asks asks what’s Donghua. Is it a place? No more like your dad. Then he asks where is his mom? So he sends him in to see Fengjiu who’s sleeping because of her injuries and.... omg. Donghua? Is it true? Is he really feeding medicine to Fengjiu? How is he even alive? Gungun runs to his mom calling her and Donghua is like no you can come closer, who are you? And he drops the medicine when Gungun says he’s Fengjiu’s son. Gungun is like, why is it surprising that I am mother’s son? Uncle you are so handsome, who are you? Then Dongha is like... I am your father Gungun. And Fengjiu’s hand starts moving.

Omg. Donghua and Gungun laughing is so fake, it’s scary, looks like an horror movie. Maybe they didn’t have a good father and son chemistry. But it’s a nice ending, with all the family together.

And there it is. It’s the end. I wasn’t super thrilled about this drama and I definitely don’t feel empty now that it has ended, but I can’t say I didn’t look forward the ending. None of my ships got to have their fate, however I am still mostly happy about the ending. Except for all of my bias dying. I think it shows a beautiful moral about love and hardships as even though Fengjiu and Donghua weren’t fated to be together, they still fought for their love and in the end it worked out. I hope they learnt to talk to each other more so they won’t have anymore misunderstanding. And that Gungun will have a little sister to play with. I am going to miss the beautiful OST of this drama for sure. And human Qingti. And Xu Yang. And Jie Lü. Welll all of those that weren’t really important for the story.

Eternal Love of Dream - Episode 55

It has been a while since I had to actually wait for an episode to come and I am especially looking forward this one.

Qingti is baaaaack, but it’s not really Qingti anymore. And it’s so weird having both of them being so formal with each other like that. Actually, it’s mostly extremely weird  to see Fengjiu acting like a bad ass immortal super powerful and wise. Then she gets depressed again because of Donghua.

Qingti pays his respects and blabla, he’s an immortal, blabla, but then Donghua... he appoints him to be he’s successor? I am as shocked as everyone assisting the scene. They start to debate the matter, I don’t know how to describe it better, only Chinese words come to my mind, but it doesn’t make everybody happy. They don’t oppose directly Donghua, who would dare?

Back to my other darling Yan Chiwu. He’s facing Miao Luo. He tells her Donghua sealed the Fanyin valley but he also recuperated his cultivation. That’s most likely bluffing honestly because Donghua didn’t look that well. I know he’s freaking powerful, but still. I don’t think he’s invincible either. He says he once entered by accident and she asks him if he still remembers how. Well I guess she makes him take her there, we don’t really know because we switch scenes again.  That’s the part I hate with drama endings, we always go back and forth. I guess it’s for the sake of suspense but it’s still annoying to some point because it makes it hard to follow when the story is already complicated.

So it’s time for Fengjiu and Donghua’s reunion. He seems so weak. Fengjiu does notice it and offers him some tea. She tells him he didn’t have to go out of his way to find her, she was just in the mortal realm, once she’s back they would have naturally bumped into each other once a while. Lies. She would have run away forever. She came because she didn’t really have a choice and Donghua knows that very well. He says he just wanted to see her again once. She asks him if he’s still doing good with her and he’s like who are you even talking about? Shen then is a little upset I guess and blames him for not knowing what he wants. She doesn’t really like Ji Heng but wishes them to be happy. He apologizes for not making it that day, he sent back Ji Heng to her clan and cut ties with her. She’s so bitter and asks him if he realized she was important only because she left. Poor Donghua. He didn’t manage the whole situation very well, surely, but I can’t really blame him for his choices, he did what he could. Anyways, he tells her nobody is more important to him than her and I hope she will believe him. But no. Of course, she blames him for not coming to explain himself and says that even though he liked her it’s all in the past now since they are both doing good on their own and are not fated to be together anyways, they should keep on going going their own path. This is really heartbreaking. I want to hear Donghua say “no, I am not doing well” but he probably won’t or if he does Fengjiu won’t believe it. Oh wow. They are doing better than I thought. He does tell her he’s not doing well. Fengjiu asks him if it’s because her parents bother him and if so they can go and fill for a divorce. But he’s like wth no? You are to be my wife until the day I die. Fengjiu’s face is definitely confused. He tells her that he already arranged for everything she wanted in Bihai Cangling. so she can go whenever she wants. She gets emotional and asks him why is he saying those things to her. He holds her hand and kisses it. Oh he gives her a ring, but she says she doesn’t want the stuff he gave Ji Heng. She leaves and says they already settled the debts between the two of them and leaves. Why would she do that? Oh god. I can’t believe it. This is so complicated. It’s even worse than Ye Hua and bai Qian and this time it doesn’t imply having your eyes plucked out of their hole by the man you like. Then Donghua seems heartbroken and coughes blood. The blood is pretty orang so either Donghua’s blood is super unique, either he’s really sick. Or my TV screen has trouble with colours. Could be a lot of reasons hahaha!

Chonglin comes and get to see that Donghua was unwell and he’s worried. Donghua tells him that once he passes away, he has to make sure that Fengjiu accepts the ring. He wants to at least leave her something.

Yup. Miao Luo took Chiwu to the Fanyin valley so she could get in. So he opens it for her and she gets in. Obviously, that’s a trap. So the plan is to trap her in a place known to destroy demonic energy. I didn’t get the name, but it’s somewhere she would never willingly go in by herself, so they had to set up a plan. Once she’s in, Miao Luo promises to kill Donghua.

Fengjiu goes back and her friend tells her that Donghua appointed Ye Qingti as his successor. So she realizes that Donghua will probably die soon. Guchou also says that usually they would chose as successors someone close to them, but  Donghua must have chose Qingti because of her, because he’s holding on parts of Fengjiu’s cultivation. She doesn’t want to believe what she just heard and makes her way to the Taichen palace where she plans on asking about it herself. But Donghua is already gone and Chonglin is out. She can only wait with Chengyu and Siming for Chonglin to come back.

Donghua goes back to Bihai Cangling and thinks back of the past. It breaks my heart. Okay, it was super beautiful and sad, I was almost crying when Donghua suddenly stands up and starts yelliing AAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRGGGGHHHH! What just happened there? I almost died of a heart attack. One minute he’s crying, the other one this? What were the producers even thinking? They RUINED the moment. Like they crushed it.

Fengjiu asks Chonglin to tell her what’s happening, Chengyu says he should. Then Lian Song orders him to tell everything. And Qingti is just there for background support. Lol. They shouldn’t have brought him back to make him so useless. So Fengjiu finally knows everything Donghua did for her. And if they had a little bit of fate together in the end, it was because the immortal in charge of that was moved by Fengjiu’s love for Donghua so Shenye and Alanre who were fated to be together lost that so she and Donghua could have little time together. Chonglin is just so mad at Fengjiu, such a loyal one. He like see what Donghua did for you while Fengjiu is crying. Well she still gave birth to his child and went into hiding so he wouldn’t have the responsibility for it. Lian Song tells Chonglin to shut up. Chonglin gives her the ring which Donghua made out of his heart. The ring is orange. Like his blood. Problem solved, Donghua’s blood is speciaaaaal. He made that ring to protect her. He didn’t tell her his plans so she wouldn’t worry and most of all wouldn’t try and to go die with him. That sounds a lot like something Fengjiu would be doing.

Oh wow. Oh I don’t know what to say after all of this. This is really heartbreaking. And like, now Fengjiu only cares about Donghua and is unhappy he doesn’t want her to die with him? Like what about your son maybe? Somebody needs to take care of him too.

Donghua, you rude a** b**ch listen here... just because you’re jealous. 

She wanted the pimpon fruit, you fools. 

*sigh* at least Aranya’s dream is starting soon.

I’m sorryyyyy... This b**ch??????????? Really. Telling Fengjiu how she should feel and telling her to stay away from Donghua. Honey... Honey... Honey... It doesn’t work like that. Fengjiu has been IN LOVE with that man for about a million years and now you think you can come along and destroy her. You’ve what? Been in love with him for about 5 minutes and come acting all high and mighty claiming Donghua as if he is someone’s property. Also, I’m pissed about the fruit. (I knew it happened but I’m still pissed) If any of you *the characters* knew the real reason Fengjiu wants that fruit. Mad at Donghua for allowing his jealousy to get the better of him so Jiheng can claim the fruit just to cure this toxin. Which I understand and all, but she wasn’t the one that put the effort in to win the goddamn competition. She pretty much has a cure anyway by staying in Fanyin Valley for a couple hundred years. Fengjiu may I add wants to save a life... Please everyone... choose a side wisely. (I’m kidding but this scene just really made my blood boil)

oh honey no. not after what I just did, not after I just ranted the life out of me. Don’t look back now, don’t choose him over everything else. 

I’m beginning not to love Lian Song’s nosy a**, it was fine at first but now I’m like you need to stop wanting to know everyone's business. (Sorry, I think that rant really has me riled up) 

Si Ming... I have no words. Disappointed in you man. I just hope this is all for a good cause... like telling Donghua (cuz he’s being a fool atm too)

I don’t endorse Fengjiu’s bad decisions but she deserves that fruit. Ye Qingti deserves to be alive. Soooo... I guess I am endorsing just this once. Never again though. 

Hmmm, it’s all clicking now Donghua, isn’t it? But, on a serious note, what we’ve all been hoping for Donghua to discover is finally here. This may have, no, this has made Donghua think deeper about Fengjiu and his feelings for her. If he doesn’t know he’s in love by now, he will soon. 

I was constantly thinking pythons were birds when reading this scene for the first time, I have no idea why. I mean it would kind of work though, considering Fanyin Valley is a bird tribe (I think) birds would work just as well as snakes.

Oh you sweet baby angel, it’s not a dream, Donghua really is here to save you.

Considering Fengjiu is supposedly innocent, she doesn’t waste her time, does she? 

But also *internal screaming begins*

Omfg, they’re going at it. How did this make it past? 

Woooo... Fengjiu’s a switch! (oml what am I saying)

My god. What was that? I’m. That did something to me. he was just breathing. jeez. 

I swear most of their scenes since returning from the mortal arc have been on a bed or with one insight. Hey... I’m not complaining though. 

Start giving Xiao Yan a break now. He’s just a cinnamon roll with pent up anger issues, he just wants his love to be returned... 

Yes, Donghua’s technique for making one fall in love. Convince them in terms of long-term. (This might be due to translation, the subs I’m watching switch between engagement and marriage. In the novel, he convinces her that they are married.)

There’s a whole scene in the novel just dedicated to Donghua forces the creatures in the water to protect Fengjiu, it’s quite funny really. 

Let us do some explaining right now before we get into things. Aranya’s real-life has already taken place... so what we’re seeing is the dream version but you know what that means, it has the ability to be manipulated, which is what we’ll see mainly from Donghua. 

Aranya = Fengjiu’s shadow Shen Ye = Donghua’s shadow  (neither of them will know this till we reach the end of the dream)

The way she was just playing with his hair and he let her... until he didn’t... lol.

Get ready to be disappointed.

The reactions are my mood during this current lockdown. Every time I open the news website... (but for real, this is all being done for our safety to try and limit the spread of the virus. I know this isn’t going to be read by many but I would just like to say thank you to all the frontline workers, supermarket workers, delivery workers, volunteers and anyone else that is helping with this fight. You are doing so much out there to protect others and no amount of thank you’s in the world is enough for all you are doing. Eternal Love of Dream: Episodes 2 & 3

Back to the commentary/review or what I like to call it, utter nonsense. 

A couple of handy things to know: 

1. You DO NOT need to have seen Ten Miles of Peach Blossoms (Eternal Love) to watch this. 2. If you have seen Eternal Love, ignore what happens between these two. (They weren’t able to gain copyright access to this novel for Eternal Love, so their storyline was made up and put in as a filler) 3. This is based on a novel, you don’t need to read the novel but it is a great read if you’re interested. 4. I may refer to this as The Pillow Book or TPB. 5. Lastly, there will be some comparisons and I will relate to the novel at times.

Why does this feel painful? Donghua won’t acknowledge her for another 30,000 years (give or take) I’d say the book is more painful in this respect though *They never met while Fengjiu worked at Tai Chen Palace, Zhi He always prevented them from meeting each other* while the show is giving us crumbs, I’ll gladly take those crumbs. Many viewers would probably become fed up of them not meeting each other until like episode 30. It reminds me of the 2003 film ‘Turn Left, Turn Right’ they were always so close yet so far apart. 

Hahahahaha. Si Ming.

Not gonna lie, I don’t see why Zhi He did the most to try and keep them apart. At this point, I don’t even think Donghua would have even acknowledged Fengjiu because she was a palace maid. Donghua hasn’t taken any interest in the palace maids before (that we know of) or anyone... Why was Zhi He so jealous? Donghua wasn’t taking any interest in her tbh.

Donghua has too much fun ruining Si Ming and Lian Song’s lives. I just have to laugh along...

Eternal Love of Dream - Episode 54

Fengjiu is heartbroken, and when she comes back to Qingqiu, Zheyan is waiting for her at the door and he suddenly decides that he’s going to take her pulse. Just like that. She’s probably pregnant. Lol, I wouldn’t be surprised. Zhe Yan looks so serious haha. I knew it. She’s pregnant. I am sorry, but I can’t help but laugh. Like... I just can’t. Qhy would Zhe Yan suddenly decide to check if she’s pregnant and like at that exact moment? Maybe his sixth sense. Zhe Yan is like the most bad ass guy right after Donghua. Fengjiu is even more sad. Well, I would agree she doesn’t need a baby right now.

Maio Luo is free now and she entrust the demon clan to Nie Chuyin, plus increase his cultivation level as a little gift.

Chiwu gets to Bihai Cangling only to find that there is nobody but for Lian Song who’s also looking for Donghua and Fengjiu. Then Chonglin comes in a really bad state to take them to the Fanyin valleyr. When Chiwu hears that Xu Yang died, at first he wants to rush and kill Miao Luo, but then Lian Song convinces him not too, it reminds him of what Xu Yang told him about how sometimes strength resides in the ability to hold back on one’s sword. SEE HOW NICE HE WAS?

Chengyu comes to see Fengjiu and seeing how sad she is, she goes to look for Lian Song. He will know where Donghua is and why he didn’t come to his own wedding.

Donghua can’t find a way to seal the Miao Yi Yuan again and then realizes that nobody is protecting Fengjiu. Chiwu finally remembers that he didn’t go to see her. Then Donghua collapses coughing blood. Ji Heng’s poison is affecting him.

Fengjiu decided to leave for the mortal realm. Before going, she gives half of her cultivation to Ye Qingti and promises to come back when it’s time for him to ascend as an immortal.

Wait what? All of the Biyi Bird people that stayed died? Well, I knew they disappeared, but I didn’t think they really died... Xiangli Meng TT What is this drama? Why do they all die? What’s the point of all of this if no one is left alive? Jielv is now the queen of the clan and they want to help out to fight Miao Luo. Chiwu also offered that they live on his territory, but Jielv says that the demon world isn’t suitable for them, they should rather go to Qingqiu, which is where Xiangli Meng wanted the most to go. I’M HEARTBROKEN. Our Jielv is such a strong girl.

Omg. THAT GUNGUN IS SO CUTE! I don’t like the name though... What a weird name, I mean when I look at the meaning. This gun means to roll. It is also used to tell someone to get out ._____. Oh well. Anywyas, so cute. He feels lonely to be the only one with white hair. And he’s so cute “who’s Ahli?” Awww. Gungun fan here. The kids of the two fox princesses are too adorable. Riceball and Gungun <3

Lian Song goes to see Bai Zhen and Zhe Yan to learn about the whereabouts of Fengjiu, but bai Zhen really doesn’t know where she went, they are free to go wherever they want when they go for a mortal trial. Then Zhe Yan said that if Donghua really wants to see her, there’s a way.

Ye Qingti needs his ponytail back. Plus I am glad he doesn’t remember what happened between him and Fengjiu. I hope he doesn’t fall for her again. Enough of my babies getting hurt.

By the way, is it just me or... all the girls who liked Donghua become crazy evil ladies at some point while all the guys who liked Fengjiu all ended up being heroes except maybe for Cangyi? It would be nice to have for once a boy that desperate for the girl’s love. Oh wait, in Ashes of Love I guess it was like that hmmm. But still, most of the time, the girl’s love rivals, there’s always at least one crazy b.

Ok. That Gungun is just so smart. He knows Fengjiu uses the fact that they are immortals when she doesn’t want to explain. He asks her about his father, but she says she gave birth to him all alone.  This is so sad ):

Fengjiu receive notice it’s time for Ye Qingti to ascend. She leaves Gungun in the care of Xia Guchou because she doesn’t want others to know she and Donghua had a son.

Chiwu goes to fight Nie Chuyin and avenge Xu Yang. I’m still upset by the way. But then it seems Cuyin is stronger than Chiwu now... But Chiwu won’t give up. You better not die on me I swear. Oh well. Miao Luo kills Nie Chuyin because he became a little too greedy and was thinking about overruling her. Chiwu tells Miao Luo he knows about Donghua’s weakness. What the hell is happening? In don’t understand anymore? What is life? Where are we going? Who is that? Ahhhhh! Oh well. At least Chiwu is still alive.

And whaaaat? I caught up on the episodes? No? How is that even possible? I want to know what happens next? I want to see my Ye Qingti and I want more Gungun. I want Gungun and Ahli together. They would be the cutest. Now I want to watch again Eternal Love. And I have way too many shows to watch... Oh god.

This is a journey really. I can’t believe I hung in there for so long when to be fully honest, I wasn’t too thrilled about this drama when I first started it. I’ve grown to like the different characters, love the wrong ones obviously. BECAUSE THEY ALL DIED. How could you do this to me writer? At least there’s still Jielv and Chiwu. At least. And they revived Qingti, but you know, I don’t think he’s really going to be the sam guy anyways... so sad ): TT Eager to see the final of this drama. Now I have to type all of those recaps! Lots of work ahead!

Fengjiu is saying this to Xiao Yan but imagine her saying it to Donghua. I can’t stop laughing. He would have his pouty face on, ‘me? making trouble? never.’

I scream more for these moments than I did for the mortal arc. Ahhhhh.... Fengjiu just throw it all away and be with him.

Eternal Love of Dream - Episode 30

So they are all attending Donghua’s class on tea. That’s so very Chinese. And really does fit Donghua because that would be his main activity. When he’s done explaining, Ji Heng suggest that they have a competition between students to see if they were listening and to give them an opportunity to show off their talent. They all pair up together and only Fengjiu is left alone so Ji Heng offers to be her opponent. Jie Lu says it’s unfair since Fengjiu just came in, but Ji Heng is like well we are both Donghua’s students, that is enough to compare. Fengjiu accepts the challenge. But in the end, their tea are both very good, and Donghua asks if he said to put the tea first or the water first, he asks Fengjiu if she remembers. Then when she doesn’t answer, he declares Ji Heng the winner.

Fengjiu is depressed from what Donghua told her. Yan Chiwu tries really hard to take her out with Xiangli Meng. Seems like this one likes pretty dancers and alcohol a lot. I feel that’s what they always do when together. Anyways, Fengjiu takes advantage of the situation to make him drink a lot and try to get information about the pinpo tree. She gets to know though that the snakes leaves sometimes. Yan Chiwu noticed her little game, I am pretty sure. Yup, he did and now she convinces him to help her to get the fruit. Donghua knows they made a hole and he does something to it. Like, he adds a light inside? I don’t know, it’s weird. I guess we’ll see soon enough.

Okay, Ji Heng is doing unnecessary stuff and Donghua tells her to stop doing so and that he will heal her completely this time so she can leave and go wherever she wants. She’s like, that’s not what I meant, I want to repay your kindness, is it that you already have someone to take care of you or maybe do you like someone already? Naturally, he doesn’t answer and just sends her back to rest.

Oh, so Donghua made many roads. Chiwu went first and gets out not close to the tree. Fengjiu wonders why he’s not coming out and thinks maybe he decided to leave her out, after all he’s a demon prince. So she gets down too and wonders if Yan Chiwu didn’t go the wrong road.

When Fengjiu gets out, she sees a demon sitting on Donghua’s lap. Ji Heng also came and he asks her why did she come. She leaves running, but Fengjiu stays, even though she’s hurt he didn’t ask her. She talks a little bit with the demon girl and starts fighting her, because she guessed it’s just an illusion of being close to each other. Well Fengjiu really isn’t a match for her, however, under Donghua’s teachings, she still manages to get away. Then she protects him and he takes her arm and holds her waist, using her to teach her how to do it.

Chiwu bumps into Ji Heng and she says she got lost. He offers to take her back and she calls him Xiao Yan and he’s so happy about it. Moooh. Poor him.

Donghua asks Fengjiu why did she come, so she realizes earlier he was actually asking her and not Ji Heng. She’s a little happy, but she still can’t tell him how she came. So tries to leave before it’s too late to get the pinpo fruit. He’s like, you’re not taking me with you? She’s like why should I? And he’s like, well I am injured, you should take me with you, are you not worried about me? She’s not and tries to leave, but he brings her back. At first she doesn’t believe that he’s really hurt, she doesn’t want to be fooled once more, but then she realizes it’s a real injury and she takes care of it. Then when she tries to leave again, she’s stuck and can’t leave. She ends up saying by mistake that she was about to steal the fruit with Yan Chiwu. Then Donghua says he’s feeling a little dizzy and decides to use her as a pillow for his head. She tries to get away from it, but hehe, Donghua knows how to have his ways. He even ends up going to sleep holding her hand. That’s exactly like I said. Donghua isn’t the type to wait for what he wants to have to come. He just makes it happen.

Yan Chiwu is super worried that he can’t find Fengjiu. He even goes back into the hole looking for her. I hope nothing happens to him ):

I really like Fengjiu’s outfit in this episode. It’s super cute and elegant, I wish I owned a dress in that style, even though it wouldn’t suit me as well.

He really fell in love with her that quickly... I would too. 

In the novel, this was a new piece of information for Fengjiu. She went around for goodness knows how long thinking they had got married. 

That’s commitment. 

hehe. foreshadowing to aranya’s dream. 

I really do forget about her when she’s not in an episode. Maybe I’m just enjoying the show too much. 

Peak comedy this whole thing was. 

I do love the show because we get different perspectives of characters. In the novel, we are stuck with Fengjiu’s narrative and she literally despises him at the moment. We didn’t know how Donghua was feeling but I could imagine it is similar to what the show is giving us. 

Ye Qingti!!! My love. We’re coming for you. 

Zhong Lin, did you not take the forgetting potion? 

Fengjiu, honey... Would you believe me if I told you are the cause of those rumours?

I wonder if Donghua tied off his powers just to have a fight with Fengjiu, who would win... do you think Donghua would let her win? My mind is going to that scenario and now I’m just smiling from ear to ear.

Eternal Love - Episode 8

Something both Ten miles of Peach Blossom and The Pillow Book are just so wonderful at, is their soundtrack. I can’t get enough.  I love it so much, just hearing one of those songs makes m go squeaking and I hate so much the fact that Netflix automatically skips it when I watch episodes one after another.

Lexu has been in labour for seven days, no less and gives birth to a little prince. The Heavenly Lord and Yangcuo are pretty sure the foetus was impregnated by the golden lotus, but even if not, that baby isn’t your regular baby. The scene is exactly the same as when Mo Yuan was born.  It’s so creepy how they made Su Jin touch the baby’s face. Well it’s a little girl, it’s okay if she doesn’t know acting yet. I guess she’s supposed to look like she cares for the baby, like a big sister.

Bai Qian saved the girl that snake girl. She used thousands of years to finally take a human form. Since she has no where to go, Bai Qian sends her to Bai Zhen. I love how they joke around about the fact that whoever is looking for him goes to Zhe Yan’s peach blossom forest to find him, because they all know he will most likely be there and not at his own place. He doesn’t want to take her as his maid and takes her instead to his parents’ place to serve his mom instead. Which happens to be quite okay because they plan to move out and leave that grotto to Bai Qian, so when they’re gone Shaoxing (snake girl) can take care of her with Migu. His mom teases him a little bit about the fact that he’s the handsomest of her children, if he was born as a girl he would be more beautiful than Bai Qian. He protests a little bit and leaves for the peach blossom. She asks Zhe Yan if he’s not bothered by Bai Zhen who has been clinging to him since his first year of life, but Zhe Yan says that without Bai Zhen he would feel lonely and takes his leave too.

Die Feng goes and look for Zhe Yan and Bai Zhen: they can’t find neither Si Yin, nor Mo Yuan. That makes the both of them extremely shocked. The family rushes to find Bai Qian, extremely worried. Dramatic music. Dramatic fog. The mom is so anxious, but Zheyan says it’s okay, it’s a miracle she’s still alive, but they still can save her, but the only way is to give her half of one’s cultivation. The king says he’ll do it, but his wifey says it’s not okay since he’s king, he needs all of his power. She’s going to do it. But then Zhe Yan tries to stop her again, she’s in too much of a hurry, if she does that, there’s a chance she won’t be able to save Bai Qian and get into a demonic state. She asks Bai Zhen to take Zhe Yan out, but he scolds her again for not letting him finish what he has to say. Honestly, he’s doing it on purpose for taking such long breaks while speaking. He’s stopping her from acting too fast because they only need the shenzhi herb and it will solve the problem. Just... to get you have to beat four overly powerful beasts, but that okay, nothing to worry about. They fight a little about who’s going to get, but it’s Bai Qian father in the end that is going. He only has a few hours to go an co back, so he has to hurry.

Back at Kunlunxu, Li Jing pays a visit. He came to visit Si Yin. Zi Lan gets pretty annoyed at that, because all that happened was because of him. Die Feng calms him down and Li Jing just repeats over and over that he wants to meet with Si Yin. He brought what she wants, but Die Feng says he can ask as much as he wants, but Si Yin left. Li Jing is shocked and the disciples leaves.

Die Feng promises Mo Yuan that he will find back Si Yin and apologizes for not taking good care enough of him. No matter how far he has gone, Die Feng will bring them back together. Then he tells the other disciples to also go back to their family and leave Kunlunxu. This is so sad. He asks of them not to try to get revenge from the Yi as Mo Yuan sacrificed himself so the peace would reign. That moment is so solemn. THE SOUNDTRACK THOUGH. I love those scenes of the disciples paying respect to their master. It shows so much of Chinese culture in a beautiful way.

So mister Heavenly Lord isn’t that happy about Si Yin taking away Mo Yuan’s body and he doesn’t know how to deal with the situation, which he complains about to Donghua. Donghua says to just find a reason why there is no body and to just tell everyone that Si Yin and Mo Yuan went in hiding together. Seems that it convinces pretty well our Heavenly Lord. Siming praises Donghua for calming him down and Donghua says that since Si Yin was Mo Yuan’s favorite disciple, he’s surely most happy to be with him in his afterlife. Does Donghua also knows Si Yin is a girl? I don’t remember him seeing her, but if he did he would probably be able to see past Zhe Yan’s spell. It’s bad ass Donghua. Without the man bun. I am sorry about all those man bun comments, but I just dislike it so much on Donghua and don’t get why they aren’t more consistent with his hairstyle haha.

Bai Zhi comes back in a very very bad state. He managed to get the herb. Bai Qian is back to being a girl. They don’t have time to make the cultivation energy into a pill, so they will have to do it directly and no matter what they can’t stop in the middle of the process. And it works. First thing she worries about when she wakes up is her master, they put in a cave specially to preserve the freshness of his body. But she’s not interested, she might even shatter to pieces in a few days and spending her last days alive taking care of him is a little unfair. Migu tells her that if she doesn’t want to marry him, then she can just not marry him. She tells him to take care of Sangji with Shaoxing and to go get her at the peach blossom forest when he’s gone. So Migu tells Sangji that Bai Qian went again in isolation which bothers him a lot. He’s upset that he didn’t even get to see her at all. Then Shaoxing come to give him some fruits and Migu is like great, looks like the prince likes Shaoxing, let her take care of him, less work for me, so he leaves the two of them together.  So Sangji is in love with her, but Shaoxing doesn’t want to follow him unless he breaks the engagement with Bai Qian. She owes too much to her, she saved her life. He tells her that according to Qing Qiu’s tradition, it would be up to Bai Qian to decide to whom Shaoxing would get married and he asks does she want that? She doesn’t she’d rather stay as a servant by his side. So he says let’s go back now then, why differ any longer. She doesn’t want to do something that would make her feel sorry for Bai Qian. He says that by not seeing her, that’s how they got to know each other, so it’s destiny. He’s not taking her as a made, he will marry her. And then they leave the fox cave.

When he gets to the heaven, Ye Hua notices that his uncle brought a little snake back with him. Awww, handsome Ye Hua. He calls out for Lian Song.  There have been traces of Qing Cang’s mount near Junji mountain lately. But he didn’t call him to tell him only about that. Sangji was supposed to stay at Qingqiu for at least three months to get to know Bai Qian before the wedding. Ye Hua says he doesn’t know about how it is with his relationship with Bai Qian, but he noticed he brought back a snake with him. It’s very bad and Lian Song hurries out. Ye Hua’s domestic asks him why does it matter that Sangji brought back a little snake. Ye Hua says before Bai Qian took in a snake maiden, so it means Sangji brought back Bai Qian’s servant back with him. Ye Hua called out Lian Song so he could lend a hand before things become bad.

So happy to finally see Ye Hua awwww! <3  I love this drama so much!

Clearly, Lian Song has not met the wonderful Lan Wangji (The Untamed) 

I forgot she was back... This is how irreverent to the plot she is, well, lack of trouble she brings to the story I should say. I don’t know why but I think this actress could do really well in a light-hearted comedy. I just want to see her in a different role, her character here and in Ashes of Love are very similar.

Ah... Cheng Yu, you’re as much as a fool as Wei Ying was... (I don’t where all these The Untamed references are coming from. Man. That show must be really sticking with me.)

Fengjiu, you sweet baby bean, you’ve said it all and he has no clue.

The way Zhong Lin is just taken away like that.  Lian Song’s f**cking looking petrified at what he’s done like ‘wtf did I do’ Donghua’s giving the supportive ‘I approve’ thumbs up. Lmao. Some of these scenes are pure gold.

This is your own fault, boo-boo. They’re just trying to lure you out. 

Imagine this scene but with Bai Gungun. Ah! The possibilities. The devastating fluffy domesticity it would bring with it. *sigh*
