BTS Tutorial: Night-Streaming
Our first day of supporting Set Me Free Pt. 2 is done! For those of you in my time zone on the east coast of the US, it's time for much-needed sleep!!
AND YET. Night-streaming is something we cannot neglect.
Billboard Hot 100 tallies sales and streams by WEEK. So our work isn't "over" for this single (or the album) -- far from it. However, we do get a bit of a break, because now that the first 24 hours are up, we can employ playlists instead of manually engaging (as much).
Here's a good sleeping playlist for Spotify that covers BTS' new solo songs and goes for 8.5 hours. You'll want to log into a new free trial premium account to start fresh for the day, then click to save this playlist. (After the first 20 times each of these songs play on that account, it won't count for Billboard, but whatever you stream after that will toward the artists' overall stream count.)
If you have a Stationhead account, consider joining a streaming party, as that will ensure your connected Spotify account avoids bot behavior by streaming without interaction.
For YouTube, you might try this sleeping playlist, which also supports other BTS' solo and milestone songs.
A little note: YouTube has an auto-pause feature you need to be aware of when streaming away from your device. A āVideo paused. Continue watching?ā message will surface on your screen if you're aroundĀ 30 minutes of uninterrupted watching on mobile, 60 minutes on web, or 180 minutes on TV.
I engage a mouse jiggler to keep my computer awake when I'm away from my keyboard, but YouTube still registers my lack of interaction. So I just downloaded this Chrome browser extension called AutoTube--YouTube Nonstop and it's supposed to override the pause function. I'll let you know if it gives me issues. (There are other extensions you might want to try to override pause, but do NOT engage any that involve looping. Avoid looping if you're trying to chart something, always.)
And when you wake up, of course continue the same as always: vote for MCountdown, trend hashtags, spread the sound on other platforms, and stream while engaging every 90 minutes or so. Use free trials for premium streams on all your devices--when the time comes, prioritize the title track. Buy as much as you can of the single and albums, physical and digital; reach out to funding accounts for help if you need. And remember--this is a marathon, not a race. Everything we do this week is leading up to working out the best strategies for FACE.
I just want to end tonight with a note of sincere appreciation for your hard work and thanks for the positive community we are creating by supporting Jimin and BTS with everything we've got. I'm proud of you, puppykitties!
Good night.
Love, Roo

As someone who never truly did the change between CDs and Digital... I mean...
(sorry for the terrible picture, I forget that I should remove the case of my phone when taking pics otherwise I get that pink glow on the right)
And as someone who decided to discover new bands from Russia which makes impossible for me to buy their albums because:
A) I'm broke
B) My country has a limit on how much money you can spend overseas and there is no warranty the the items will be delivered in time or delivered at all.
I had to burn some CDs by myself (I had to stop because finding CDs to burn became a mission) I've used 2 methods. Bear in mind I have an old computer that has a CD burner by itself.
1. Nero Express.
This software allows you to burn CDs and DVDs (I think even Blu-Ray but since I lack that hardware I don't know). It's quite intuitive, you open the Nero Burning ROM and it lets you of choose what to burn.
The one thing I don't like is that when making CD it only allows you burn a certain amount of time, not the full disk (so, let's say 10 songs when the capacity could be between 15 and 20). So, you just have to pay attention to that.
2. Windows Media Player.
Yes, I use Windows, I've told you that I'm broke and I also live by the end of the world. Get over it! Windows Media player lets you record CDs and this was my preferred method to use because I was able to fit 2 albums in 1 CD (opposite Nero). Again, it's quite intuitive, you enter a new CD, select what you want to do, drag the files and hit Enter or OK (can't quite remember, it's been a while).
Now, to get music from Internet.
1. The Oldest Trick: You can put the word "bajar" ("download" in Spanish, I never tried using an English word to do it) between the WWW. and Youtube (so www.bajaryoutube.com/WHATEVERVIDEOURLYOUWANT) and it lets you download MP3 or MP4. However sometimes copyright is an issue so, if possible, do not to use the original video on the official page of your selected artist, there is always someone that reuploaded the song on a fanvideo or something like that.
2. BEWARE WITH THIS ONE: there are websites that let you download either music or videos from Youtube (and other websites as well, you need to taylor your search). The main risk is for the malware/virus that are lurking in them. I use this site a lot but a friend of mine did got a virus by accidentally clicking on one of the pop-ups that show up when doing the stuff. So, be mindful and keep your PC/Cellphone antivirus up to date... and try not to touch anything you don't have to. The good thing is that in that website, copyright is not an issue (or maybe a very rare one) it can download anything.
3. Atube Catcher: my aunt uses this software to download videos. I've never used it myself but if she can do it, it is simple enough (she is not very tech savvy). I think its only for video, so MP4, but you can always download the video and separate the music on a Video Editing software (I use a cracked version of Filmora 9 by Wondershare because the free version leaves watermarks).
4. OBS Studio : this is quite a versatile software that lets you record and stream. If you want to record a video, you have to select the items you want to record (screen, audio output) and always pay attention to that (for instance if you want to record any kind of virtual gathering, you must select "microphone" as well, otherwise whatever you say won't be recorded). It takes a learning curve but its not that hard after all.
5. Telegram: I know that USA is in love with text messages but in the rest of the world we use apps that just need a working line and WiFi to run (so, no charging fees for every message. You might have just the activation code sent on an SMS and nothing else). In Argentina we use mostly WhatsApp but a few times their servers went down -hasn't happened in a while- leaving us incommunicated for almost a whole day, thats why at home we also use Telegram. The good thing about Telegram is that it has fangroups (channels, something WhatsApp is trying to copy) as well and people post media (pictures, videos, songs) in them as they would do in any other Social Media. I found the entire discographies of ŠŠ³Š°ŃŠ° ŠŃŠøŃŃŠø (Agata Kristi) and ŠŠ¾ŃŠ¾Š»Ń Šø ŠØŃŃ (The King and the Jester) in here and I'm so thankful for it... it stops me from using Spotify. They won't be on MP4 but on m4a, still they can be reproduced and burned on CD by Windows Media Player.
6. VK: Š ŠŠ¾Š½ŃŠ°ŠŗŃŠµ is basically Russian Facebook the layout is pretty much the same BUT you can share media on it (books, movies, music) however to be able to download it you must pay a fee. So it's not for everyone, but it's an option.
Hopefully you'll find this tools useful on your endevour into piracy.
PS: I do encourage you to buy the original CDs as much as you can. I don't know much about the new wave but old-school artists usually get a big chunk of their money from their physical sales. Lately it was replaced by their sold tickets because no-one was buying CDs anymore.
Unlike streaming services that pay cents on the dollar for each listener/reproduction, labels have a better deal with them (still not 50/50 or anything alike, but better) so buying physical media does 2 things: shows that people are interested in them (making them profitable) and gives them some bucks.
HOLD THE LINE!! KEEP PUSHING!!!!!
#that time were living on a constant economical crisis makes you creative on your media consumption and you can share your knowledge#physical media#the rebirth of CDs and DVDs#it's a pirate's life for me š“āā ļø#like... when you're broke but that's kind of helpful

Where to watch and listen to non-English language musicals?
Iāve been thinking about making a post like this for a while but wondered hm do I want to be giving out links to free downloads of musical audios publicly when really I want to promote people still buying CDs because one, it supports the artists, and two, I think itās better to own things still rather than just own things digitally. But I found an extra treasure trove I didnāt know about before and I feel a need to share because I didnāt make it, itās already online, so why shouldnāt I tell people about it? And then this was just going to be for audios and not videos and I was going to make a separate post but figured it would be easier if all the info was on one post.Ā I actuallyĀ was going to post this on my sideblog @europeanmuscials but I accidentallyĀ made the draft under my main blog which meant I couldnāt change it later and I couldnāt be bothered to cope and paste and redo all the images and tags because I didnāt save the images I just copy and pasted them so oh well.
Purchasing
So as I always preface when I share info on where to stream musicals, PLEASE try always support the artists by buying CDs and DVDs! I know a lot of the musicals here are 10/20+ years old and you cannot get the CDs anywhere anymore, but when a new musical comes out please try and get the CD without instatnly looking for a download.Ā You can purchase non-English language musical CDs, DVDs and other merch from places like soundofmusic-shop.de or Ebay, or Yahoo Auctions for Japanese musicals, using a proxy shipping service, I personally use ZenMarket. Those are how Iāve gotten all of mine, getting them off Ebay or Yahoo Auctions means theyāll likely be second hand and there is nothing wrong or weird about buying second hand goods.
Streaming Audio
Spotify. A lot of German and French musicals are on Youtube. I have a series of playlists that will help you find them easily: one is my favourite songs from a bunch of different non-English language musicals, one of songs from solo albums from European and Asian musical theatre artists, and this one which is going to be the most help that is a huge playlist of every single full cast album of every non-English musical cast album I have found on Spotify. Please let me know if Iāve missed any on there and Iāll add them.
Youtube. Some official cast albums are also on Youtube, normally official uploads that match the Spotify uploads. Ones I know of that arenāt on Spotify for example is the original 2003 Dutch production of one of my favourite musicals 3 Musketiers and the 2005 German production of it.
Streaming Video
I want to preface this with how unlike Broadway and the West End, itās fairly common for European musicals to get proshots and DVD and Bluray releases and so you donāt normally need to resort to looking for bootleg videos and can watch and purchase the pretty official proshots instead.
Youtube. Thereās so many different channels uploading them to Youtube that for ease I made a playlist of every full length production on Youtube starting with the ones that have English subtitles. I also have playlists for different individual musicals and misc European musicals that are full of shorter videos: clips, interviews, behind the scenes, concert performances and other videos that arenāt full length production videos. These playlists are constantly updated.
Bilibili. A ChineseĀ video sharing website. It has a lot Asian musicals of course, but European musicals, in particular French and German ones, have a very dedicated fanbase in Asia and so there are a lot of videos on here. You can search for then using the English/Roman alphabet and they normally come up fine. Easiest way I search on there is using the name of the musical/actor and a year.
VK. A Russian social media similar to Facebook. There are multiple fanpages for specific actors and musicals where Iāve found videos, but you can also search over all of VK. You might need an account to do this, I donāt remember but I think you do and thatās why I made one there. Hereās links to fanpages for Drew Sarich, Jan Ammann, Mark Seibert and Thomas Borchert.
Downloading Audio
r/castrecordings on Reddit. Itās a community of traders and you can make a reply to their request threads for the month asking if anyone has the audio youāre looking for, but please check first to see if itās already been uploaded. I have downloaded many audios off there and I also have uploaded audios to there if I see someone request something that I have because I feel that itās only fair for me to help others out there when Iāve downloaded things off there so many times. Be aware download links on here often get deleted and so a lot of older posts donāt have working download links anymore, but you can just request for a new working download on the request threads.
archive.org. Now I would never have thought of looking there, but I was on there because they have a lot of old silent films and so I was looking to watch the original Phantom of the Opera film and when I searched Phantom I was surprised by some cast albums that came up. So I wondered what would happen if I just looked at audios and oh I have found a wonderful little treasure trove. UserĀ musical_lover_1980 has uploaded over 1 thousand cast albums of Broadway, West End and non-English language musicals and a few film soundtracks. A lot of ones on there Iāve found before on r/castrecordings, but I was so happy to find a number that I didnāt already have. Thereās even one Takarazuka album on there, which isnāt a lot but do you know how rare and hard those things are to find. And the Korean Frankenstein musical cast album!!
EDIT: also the account @ WennLi3b3 on archive.org is uploading audios and proshot videosĀ
Because I will be link to external sites this might not show up in tags so I appreciate the reblogs. Please donāt share this post outside of Tumblr, nor any of the audios I post here outside of Tumblr. If I find that happening Iāll delete everything and not post audios or information like this anymore. Apologies if there are typos or any mistakes here.

Well everyone, Iāve taken a drastic step. Throughout my British comedy journey, I have dug through many layers of internet to find video and/or audio recordings of the shows I want. I have found most of these for free, while saying Iād be willing to pay for them if I had some easy way to do that while knowing most of my money would go to the people who made the show. Occasionally Iāve had an opportunity to do that, like when I bought Nish Kumarās stand-up album off iTunes and downloaded Mark Watsonās stand-up special off Vimeo. Iāve bought several audiobooks by various British comedians (and by āboughtā I mean ādid that thing where you make a new Audible account to get one book for freeā, but that still counts as a sale and the author still gets whatever money they get per purchase of their book).
Sometimes, I havenāt been able to find a digital copy of something I want for free, and I havenāt found an easy way to pay for such a thing, so Iāve resorted to ordering physical items that get mailed to my house. This has almost entirely come in the form of books ā Lee Mack and David Mitchellās autobiographies that ordered after I finished watching WILTY, two Jo Brand books, Jon Richardsonās book, James Acasterās Classic Scrapes and Stephen Fryās Moab Is My Washpot and Katherine Ryanās autobiography were given to me as gifts so I didnāt actually buy them but I do own physical copies of them.
There is of course another Britcom-related physical item Iāve ordered on the internet, and itās currently on the back of my computer:
I ordered the first Nish Kumar stick last summer, when I decided I really liked the way heād adorned his laptop for season four of The Mash Report (when he worked from home due to, that whole thing):
Then for Christmas my girlfriendās gift to me happened to include a Taskmaster seal sticker and a sticker that depicts Nish Kumar with a coconut on his head and a tie made of money for that one season 5 task, so I decided my laptop will just become a proper home for Nish Kumar stickers. I am pleased with this.
Up until today, that is as far as Iād gone with acquiring actual physical objects related to Britcom - I can normally just find digital copies of things, and I prefer it that way. But the other day, I took an unprecedented step. There was one thing that I could not find anywhere on the internet, for free or to pay for it. While searching, I kept seeing it on Amazon, getting excited for a split second because I thought that meant Amazon would let me pay to download it, and then remembering that Iāve clicked that link before and itās not a download link, itās a listing of the actual DVD. And obviously thatās not helpful because DVDs do not exist anymore.
Well guess what? After much time spent scouring the internet and becoming convinced that it is absolutely nowhere to be found, I realized... you know, Amazon probably couldnāt list that if DVDs literallyĀ no longer existed. And I do have an external disc drive that I got ages ago to help my parents turn their CDs of home videos into digital copies. So technically, this could be a solution.
It got here today and Iām unreasonably exited about it. Until it actually got delivered, to be honest I didnāt 100% expect it to work. I sort of expected to get a message that saysĀ āI see youāve tried to order a Digital Video Disc, thereās been a mistake as it isnāt 2008 anymore.ā But there wasĀ no mistake. And it might not be 2008, but I do have something that was recorded in that year, and everything about its packaging reminds me aggressively of that fact.
Hereās a little booklet that was included inside the DVD case:
Absolutely perfect. Everything about this is perfect. I am so excited to watch it. I have family stuff to do this afternoon, which is just as well because Iām housesitting at the moment, and obviously I didnāt bring my external disc drive with me, because why would I have done that? So I have to make a special trip back to my own house to get that, which I will work into my afternoon outing, and then can sit down and watch this, and I am so excited to do that.

Anonymous said: Hyuck with 10, 25, and 6 pls and thanks
explicit sexual content, fem reader
āHey, Hyuck? I'm not trying to put you on the spot, but I'd really like to know why you have an entire album dedicated to hentai porn."
Your best friend shrugs, taking the time to down the contents of his redbull before tossing the can at the trash bin. It hits the wall before falling to the floor with a sad clink, laughably far away from his target. āWhat do you mean why? You have nasty shit downloaded too, donāt you?ā
āNot this.ā You also donāt have anything saved. The virus youād gotten from downloading Twilight off of a sketchy website when you were 10 scared you away from willingly saving anything from the internet.
Hyuck shrugs like youāre missing out on something. āHowād you find that anyways? Thought you were borrowing my computer to write your essay.ā āI was. I thought the folder titled āacademic resourcesā might have, yāknow. Academic resources.ā
āWhatād you want me to call it? My hentai folder?ā Hyuck uses the tone he reserves for arguing with Renjun and it makes it ten times harder to hide your laugh. āI couldnāt name it anything risky. Mark would find it.ā He cackles as if exposing his best friend is the funniest thing on the planet. It kind of is. āThe fuckers too horny and paranoid for his own good. Refuses to look it up himself.ā You raise your eyebrows and turn back to the computer, clicking through some of the thumbnails before closing the album with a wrinkled nose. āYou prefer this shit to actual women?ā
āWell, I mean. I donāt have an actual woman here.ā You make an offended noise and he reconsiders. āOh, I guess you count. You wanna fuck?ā
Normally youād say no, but your dedication to procrastinating your essay is astounding. Plus, youāve fucked around with Donghyuck before. Your best friend is insufferable, yes, but he's also hot and good with his mouth. āRight now?ā
āI mean, yeah. I did buy these glow in the dark condoms and I have no one to use them with. Are you busy tonight?ā Hyuck opens his drawer and reveals that he does indeed have glow-in-the-dark condoms.
āIām terrified to ask what else youāre into.ā You raise your eyebrows before settling yourself on his bed, unhooking your bra and tossing it at him. His lips part and his eyes linger on the shape of your breasts through your shirt before he gathers himself.
A rather horrible wink is sent your way. āStick around and find out.ā āUgh. No thanks.ā You slide your pants off and swing one leg over to straddle him. His hands go automatically to your hips, steadying you. Thereās a moment of silence where you just stare at each other before he moves a hand up to cup your jaw, thumb stroking over your cheek before pulling you forward to meet his lips.
The kiss is slow at first, unhurried as he savors the first taste of your lips, and then it grows deeper, more insatiable. His tongue slips into your mouth and his hand squeezes at your ass, encourages you to rock yourself against his lap. He lets out a depraved sound when you tug at his hair, head falling back to give you access to his neck, which you waste no time marking up. Itās satisfying to see him this wrecked, eyes heavily lidded and lips swollen from kissing, cock a pleasant hardness for you to grind on.
āHyuck,ā You moan, breaking the kiss to pant into the open air. āFuck me.ā
āS-shit, yeah.ā He rushes to get undressed, ripping open the condom. The face he makes when he strokes his cock to make sure the condom is in place is one of the hottest things youāve ever seen and it makes you clench your legs together in need, though he thankfully doesnāt see it. You frown when he walks away from you. āHang on, I wanna see if these really do glow in the dark.ā He goes to hit the light switch and you scream. āDonghyuck! I donāt want the image of your floating, glowing dick ingrained in my head!ā Thankfully, he doesnāt turn the lights off. āWhy would it be floating?ā āBecause the rest of you isnāt glowing?ā You point out, screaming again when his face lights up and he cries out a āthatās even cooler!ā āDonghyuck! If you donāt fuck the living daylights out of me in the next 5 minutes, Iām going to pass out.ā āOkay, okay, Iām coming. I mean not yet, obviously. But thatās what youāre going to be saying soon!ā He joins you on the bed and you rub your forehead, suddenly regretting your decision to fuck him.
āI literally hate you.ā You grumble, though your actions say differently as you easily let him slide his hands between your thighs. A soft moan leaves you when he drags the tips of his finger through your folds, putting just a little extra pressure on your clit.
Donghyuck laughs. āAnd yet youāre still soaking wet.ā
āShut up and fuck me.ā Your words lack authority, all the oxygen in your lungs exiting in a whoosh when he sucks your arousal off of his fingers. He gives you a mock salute and then heās settling between your legs, lining himself up at your entrance.
āReady?ā His eyes are serious and you nod, licking your lips in anticipation. The movement doesnāt escape him and his lips are on yours in the next second, a heated kiss that you moan into when he slides in you achingly slow. His cock fills you to the brim and it has your jaw going slack, your head pressing deep into the pillows as you arch into it. āCanāt believe thatās all it takes to have you drooling.ā Donghyuckās voice is meant to be teasing but you can hear how breathless he is, pride halting his moans in his throat.
You clench around him as hard as you can and he nearly collapses, a whine ripping out of his chest. āNow whoās drooling?ā You bite back, laughing breathlessly. Donghyuck laughs too, but itās humorless and thereās a dark look in his eyes.
āStill you, baby.ā He whispers, face centimeters away from your own. A little bit of spit passes from his lips to yours and he smears the saliva around your lips with his thumb, smiling when you suck willingly on the digit. āSo fucking hot.ā
Donghyuck pulls your legs around his waist and groans as he gets that much deeper, fucking into you with slow, fluid thrusts. It feels so good, being split open on his cock like this, but itās frustratingly slow. You can feel the drag of his cock inside of you with an amplified intensity and you canāt decide if itās too much or not enough. It makes your head spin. āHyuck, faster.ā You moan out, raking your hand through his sweaty hair. āFuck me faster.ā He must be feeling it too because he doesnāt tease you for once in your life, simply clenching his jaw in concentration and picking up the pace until all you can hear is the sound of skin slapping on skin, your moans joining the sound in a sinful melody. Your nails dig into his back and you pull him closer, grabbing onto him for dear life. And Hyuck doesnāt falter, just keeps fucking you like itās his job, burying his face in your neck before dipping down to kiss at your breasts. His lips wrap around one of your nipples and you cry out, arching into it. The bliss of everything heās doing to you is overwhelming you so much that you donāt even realize youāre going to cum until youāre right there, so close you can taste it, and you nearly tear up with how tightly you scrunch your eyes closed.
Donghyuck cums mere second after you, mouth pressed hotly to your neck in an attempt to muffle his moans. You drag his lips back up to yours with one hand fisted in his hair and meet him in one of the sloppiest kisses youāve ever had. It feels so good that you canāt bring yourself to care, whimpering softly into it when he pulls out and leaves you achingly empty. He gives you a goofy grin and all but collapses onto his side, facing you.
āYou're glowing.ā Donghyuck says, and itās so sweet that it makes you go all warm and fuzzy for a moment before he ruins it. āJust like my glow in the dark condoms.ā A groan leaves you and you flop away from him. āYouāre never fucking me again.ā

System76 Spotlight with Adam Balla
Welcome to the first of an ongoing series where we get to know some of the amazing people behind System76! This week, we kick things off with one of our newest members, Adam Balla (AKA chzbacon), who has just joined the Marketing Team as our Content Producer. Learn what makes his content creation heart go pitter-patter, and why his electric smoker is his must-have cooking appliance.
When did you first become interested in Linux computer systems?
When my roommate introduced me to Slackware in 1999, he was working as a Linux system admin and he really got me interested in Linux. I was going to the Art Institute of Houston at the time for a Multimedia Design degree, and the thought that you could create your own desktop operating system really appealed to me. I didnāt need to stare at the same old tacky operating system Iād used for years.
I found myself, like many nerds of the era, at a Micro Center in the early 2000s rummaging through the discount software bins, trying to snag up multi-CD Linux distributions. This journey exposed me to several of todayās most popular Linux distros. One of those was SUSE Linux 5.3, of which I still keep the tattered book on a bookshelf as a reminder. I did however finally find my place in the world of Debian, which is where I essentially live today. Honestly not much has really changed other than using Pop!_OS as my main distributionāthough like any Linux diehard, I still love to download, test, and sometimes install all the Linux.
When did you start becoming a champion for open source hardware and software?
It was a few years after that. Once I got back from the Art Institute and I was working in the area, we needed a server for the screen printing shop that I worked at. Knowing about Linux at that point, I was able to set up a server using consumer-grade gear that we could store all of our artwork and assets on. Moving forward, I set up a server for the newspaper that I worked at for a decade, which I know is still running to this day. After using Linux in that sort of environment and knowing it was good enough for a business, I knew it was good enough for me and my needs.
How did you get involved in content creation as a career?
My father was an engineer. When I was young I was always, like most kids, into drawing cars and doodles and cartoons, but I was used to having a drafting table at the house. Computing came around, and my father bought an IBM 486 and one of the original digitizing tablets, and so I got to play around with that. Eventually, he got upset because I was on the computer more than he was, so he bought me an IBM 386 to use.
Around 1995, my dad learned from a coworker about Photoshop. I begged him to get me a copy, and he finally did for Christmas. Thatās when I started playing around in Photoshop and really fell into wanting to create for a living. Similar to what my father does, but maybe not as stringent in the decision that I makeāno building is going to fall down from my creative process.
And thatās how I got into the whole content creation piece. I created a cover for the album of my high school bands and then started doing work for more local bands. Back then, there were no digital art courses, so I learned a lot by doing and trial/error.
What is your favorite part of the creative process?
Working together as a team during the initial brainstorming process. Going through all of the ideas and details, sometimes writing them down, sometimes not, and even laughing at myself at how ridiculous an idea may sound. I love the process of the very first step. I love to set the vision for the project work from there to turn that vision into reality.
How did you first learn about System76?
I first learned about System76 through Chris Fisher and Jupiter Broadcasting. I believe they were reviewing the Leopard Extreme in 2012, on what at that time was the Linux Action Show. Thatās when I started to look at System 76 and their offerings and wondered if it would be better for me to build my own Linux desktop, or adopt something and support the open source community. Itās been a little while since then, and Iāve always kept my eye on System76. Then with the release of Thelio, that really pushed me to the point of, āWow, these guys are creating their own beautiful custom chassis and theyāre incorporating different materials together. What a beautiful machine.ā
I was speaking to my wife (financial advisor) about purchasing one in 2019, and I spoke to Emma and some other people at System76 about my desire for one, and I donāt know how, but Emma encouraged me not to buy one! And then I was given the opportunity to come to System76 for the Superfan event, where I was fortunate enough to be one of a dozen people who were gifted a Thelio desktop. It sits on my desk to this day; I even bought a larger desk just so I could put it up there and see it every day. I really appreciate the humble beginnings of System76, and Iām so glad to finally be a part of this amazing team.
Let's get into that creative brain. What is your favorite viral video and/or ad, and why do you love it so much?
I have a few ads that I like. Iāve always liked Hondaās messaging and their ads.
I like these ads because of the way in which they go through their history and lineage and the way that Honda itself has marketed its products as āPeople Firstā productsāvery similar to when they introduced their motorcycles to the US with their āYou meet the nicest people on a Honda,ā campaign. I think that was in 1962, so this was during the height of the motorcycle gang craze. Then comes this little Japanese motorcycle company and markets their products in a completely opposite image from the rest of the industry. They dared to be different and it paid off for them. Selling over 100 million Honda Cubs since 1958. Being given the title of most produced motor vehicle in the world.
This may come as a surprise to some, but I also really love the original Orwellian-inspired Macintosh commercial, which only aired once during the 1984 Super Bowl. Created by Steve Hayden, Brent Thomas and Lee Clow. In my opinion, these guys really created disruptive advertising, so much so that the ad still resonates today as much as it did then. While I donāt think you need to incite fear to sell a product, it showed that Apple dared to be different.
Iām not sure what constitutes a viral video these days. Iām not sure if itās having a billion trillion views or just simply infecting one person who saw your video. One that always gives me a chuckle has to be āNews Anchor Laughs At Worst Police Sketch Failā. The honesty on the anchor's face makes me lose it every time.
When youāre not helping to lead the Open Source revolution, what do you like to do with your free time?
I really like going on walks and taking photos. Photography to me is one of the last honest art forms. What you see really is what you get. I love to tinker and make things, I have a 3D printer that my wife and I purchased as a joint valentineās gift to each other last year. We started using it right when COVID broke out, so we made around 900 face shields which we distributed to schools, day cares, dentist's offices, anyone who needed one. Thatās what we did for about the first 6 months when we first got it. Now, my wife loves to print earrings, for example, and I like to build different fun electronics projects.
I also love to cook, especially for large groups. I just got done with an Easter Weekend + Birthday celebration where we cooked 100 lbs of crawfish, 10 lbs of pork shoulder, sausage, and boudin (which is basically rice and pieces of pork that have been mixed together with seasonings and then put into a casing like sausage). One of my main requirements actually for a place in Denver is somewhere I can bring my electric smoker. Itās a must-have for any Texan.
What are you most excited about with your new role here at System76? To help change the computing landscape as we know it today. Into a future where technology is free and open. A world where you're encouraged to break things, fix things, and learn how they work. Aside from changing the world and stuff, I'm really excited to have a chance to work with such an insanely talented group of people.

NFTs Have Investors Opening Their Wallets, Fans Opening Their Hearts, and Artists Granting Lifelong Concert Tickets
We all remember the Bitcoin buzz that started about five years ago. Whether you tapped into it or completely tuned it out, the advent of new technologies is only becoming more and more common, as they make their way into our daily lives. After all, technology is expanding exponentially. (Friendly reminder that IBM has an almighty quantum computer sitting in their basementāno big deal).
Though we may not all be bound to become Bitcoin experts, we are bound to become experts in adapting to the technologies that continue to change the game of every industryātechnologies like NFTs, which will not only affect the blockchain game but also the entire, beloved music industry.
Before we dive into that, letās chat about the basics. Think of blockchain technology as a well-secured house and Bitcoin as the roommate with the biggest room. Bitcoin functions as fungible cryptocurrency, fungible meaning the values are mutually interchangeable. If you have one Bitcoin and I have one Bitcoin, both are worth the same amount.Ā
NFT stands for non-fungible token. Unlike Bitcoin, NFTs earn their value primarily from being a unique piece, like a fine art painting thatās the only one of its kind or a concert ticket each with its unique code, date, and seat number. Think of Bitcoin as a deck of playing cards, and NFT as that lone baseball card you dream of getting your hands on. The only reason people value the baseball card is because of its rarity, its non-fungibility; thatās what gives the card its value.
Itās worth noting that the most common NFTs exist on the Ethereum network. Think of Ethereum as Bitcoinās younger, cooler sibling with the smaller room in the house, who grew up with an iPhone and knows how to code his own app. While Bitcoin is the go-to digital dollar, Ethereum is on the cusp of whatās to come, making way for the next level of innovation, with features such as smart contracts that allow NFTs to be stored and transferred securely.Ā
This ability, combined with blockchainās ability to verify the owners and original creators of these tokens, is foundational to the functioning of this world. You want to make sure Joe from down the street isnāt printing a copy of your original baseball card and claiming itās his. Nice try, Joe. Blockchain warned me about you.
But I donāt blame Joe for trying. The value placed on rare collectibles and other NFTs has people opening up their wallets and notifying their banks not to be sketched out when they drop MILLIONS on this weird internet thing.
Bids are skyrocketing. But hereās where it gets really interesting: every time an NFT is resold, the artist or original holder gets a dividend. For example, letās pretend for a moment that Leonardo da Vinci was alive and well. If he pinned the Mona Lisa as an NFT, every time someone outbid the previous person to own the original painting, da Vinci would get a cut of that check. Heās accruing revenue more than once, and that revenue is likely increasing with each bid.Ā
In this way, NFTs are revolutionary in opening up a new revenue stream for artists, both the da Vinciās of the world and musicians like Justin Blau (ā3LAUā) who, according to the Wall Street Journal, has made $17 million from NFTs just this past month. In the beginning of March, Blau minted his three-year-oldĀ āUltravioletā album as an NFT, claiming the highest bidder could also earn a collaboration with him. Not only has it grossed $11.6 million, it also ābriefly held the record for the highest price paid for a single NFTā at $3.6 million. And Blau is not alone.Ā
Illmind auctioned the rights to a royalty-free sample pack as an NFT. Deadmau5 auctioned digital collectible NFT packs, both 4,000 of a standard version and 2,000 of a āMegaā version with live show content, stickers, 3D artwork, pins and other exclusive goods. Beside the artists themselves, other aspects of the industry, such as streaming and touring, are also tapping in.Ā
For example, ROCKI is a streaming platform that created its own blockchain that āallows artists to earn the ROCKS cryptocurrency for their streamsā¦ using a User-Centric payment system that pays the majority of the subscription revenue from a listener directly to the artists they are streaming.ā The company recently auctioned off 50% of future royalty rights for a song on the platform through NFT. Kings of Leon was the first to drop a full album as an NFT, also granting its ultimate buyer a life-long, VIP, and front row seat ticket to every Kings of Leon tour for the rest of time. Just last week, alt indie band Faux Real dropped the first ever āNFT live show,ā an NFT for a one-time real-life private concert.
As Blau told Wall Street Journal, āāI think this technology will definitely change the world, but Iām cautiously optimistic because no one really knows how to value this stuff.āā Letās talk about why the world is both cautious and optimistic about NFTs.
NFTs gain their value through supply and speculation. Basically, hype runs the show. Many factors can saturate or dilute this hype, such as the influence of the original creator and the fame or number of previous owners. If youāre a big name already on the hype train, NFTs are a great additional revenue source. More so, if youāre still trying to put yourself on the map, finding creative ways to break through the noise and foster hype and demand through NFTs can get you on it.Ā That hype, which determines the price of your token, can even be used to leverage growth, enticing label deals or potential sponsorships.Ā
That growth can also take place in the relationship between an artist and their fans who are willing to bid big bucks to receive exclusive content. Next, NFTs cut out the middle man, allowing the transfer to take place directly from the creator to its new owner. This is immensely empowering for artists who donāt need a middle man playing messenger and taking a major cut of the profit from this new revenue stream; however, while blockchain technology can create secure smart contracts and authenticate the owner of an NFT, this world is still quite new and unregulated.Ā
Tokenizing an album or song is like giving someone ownership of a one-of-a-kind vinyl, except now instead of a vinyl itās an mp3 file of the song. There is never a guarantee that that file is safe once sent, even if the receiver purchased it. Similarly, if youāve tokenized a piece of digital art, there is no way of verifying whether someone downloaded it and redistributed it for their own profit.Ā
This also gets one thinking about the line between art consumer and owner. If you purchase an NFT of an artistās song or forever-concert ticket, itās almost as though youāre betting on their success. Every time you profit from their song, so do theyāalmost like owning a share in the same, unique stock. Every time that artist levels up, that lifelong concert ticket of yours increases in value. Think of all the artists and bands you KNEW were going to blow up, think of how much money you could have made.Ā
Will people start investing in new music, setting NFT prices based on their bet of what will blow up next? If the labels use their exclusive insight to participate or influence the market, are they taking part in insider training? If I make an account right now, is it too late to purchase a crypto kitty?? (If youāre not sure what this is and youād like to be further entertained, I highly encourage you to google it).Ā
Whether or not this buzz is built to last, NFTs will set a precedent for the potential of new revenue streams for artists and investors alike. After all, being a creator also means being a full-time investor. Whether youād like to buy an NFT, release one, or stay off the internet all together, one thing is for sureālike the quantum computer chillin in IBMās basement, these new technologies are not going anywhere anytime soon.

How to buy music on mora.jp
Today I would like to share a tutorial with you on how to easily buy music on the Japanese online music store mora. Itās one of the best sources to legally get your hands on Japanese music in a high quality digital format (AAC & FLAC).
I think as fans we should do our very best to support Wakana, Keiko and Hikaru. Itās a hassle for most foreign fans to purchase physical copies of their releases (especially now during the COVID-19 crisis) so buying from mora is a great alternative (although I will admit that music on mora is quite pricey BUT you will get great quality and you will be among the very first who can listen to a new release). Of course you also have the option to buy the tracks on iTunes but I know not everyone has an iPhone and from what some of you have told me not all stores have their solo work.
The release of Keikoās digital single is right around the corner and Hikaruās single ćAltern-ate-ć is already available for purchase so this is the perfect opportunity to acquaint yourself with mora.Ā
There are only TWO things you need:
Credit card (doesnāt need to be registered in Japan)
VPN add-on for your browser (I am using Surfshark at the moment)
For the most part I will base my tutorial on THIS post here. All credit goes to the creator, they did a fabulous job. I found the instructions very easy to follow. Consider my post an extension of the previously linked tutorial. Okay, without further ado, letās get started.
1. Register on Rakuten in order to use Rakuten Pay.
Go here to REGISTER. You will be transferred to the registration page where you only have to enter the information thatās REQUIRED. Ignore the other fields. Itās super easy and you are barely giving away any information. Note: On mora we will be using the payment option āRakuten Payā because they apparently donāt accept all foreign credit cards (they didnāt accept mine). If they do accept your card then skip all the Rakuten stuff and go straight to mora.jp in order to pay everything with your credit card.
2. After registration add your credit card in your account settings
Once you are finished with your registration you need to go to your account settings HERE.You might have to log in again. There you need to click on Confirm/Change/Delete Credit Card Information
Then you will see an Add a new credit card section. Click on the option Credit Cards for use in Japan
Enter your card information and submit it. Thatās it. From now on your card can be used for Rakuten Pay.
3. Register on mora.jp
Go to mora.jp to Sign In | ćµć¤ć³ć¤ć³. There you can click on the button to register for free.
They just need a mail address and a password. You will be sent a link to your mail address to confirm the registration and thatās about it. I think you are later required to enter a nickname, your location (just randomly click one of the places available) and your birthdate.
4. Turn on your VPN and connect to a Japanese IP
5. Browse through the music on mora.jp and put everything you want in your cart
You can browse through mora.jp by searching for an artist or a specific song. Make sure to look for āFLACā or ćć¤ć¬ć¾ if thatās what you want. Typically those tracks and albums are a lot more expensive but they are totally worth the money if you are into high-quality music. Instead of pirating the music you can ACTUALLY support your favourite artists.
Once youāve got everything in your cart you can go ahead and purchase the music.
6. Choose the option āRakuten Payā to purchase the music.
You are asked to enter your Rakuten ID (email and password you registered with earlier)
On the next site you just leave everything as it is and continue onwards.
Confirm the content of your purchase and then you are DONE
Your purchased titles are now available for DOWNLOAD
I also downloaded the MORA Downloader which comes in quite handy and saves everything to your music folder. It is not required though. You can simply download the titles clicking the DOWNLOAD button.
Thatās it. If you have any questions, please let me know!!

Nahum 1:1-3:19, Revelation 8:1-13, Psalms 136:1-26, Proverbs 30:7-9
Today is the 17th day of December the 352nd day of this year welcome to the Daily Audio Bible I am Brian it is wonderful it is a joy to be here with you today as we take the next step forward. And, so, right off the bat as weāre moving toward theā¦the Old Testament we finished, completed the book of Micah yesterday, which was the sixth of the minor prophets, the sixth ofā¦the sixth of the 12 minor prophets. So, weāre going into book 7 of the minor prophets today. And this is a book called Nahum and we will read it in its entirety today in one sitting. But letās talk about it.
Introduction to the book of Nahum:
Letās first remember a city called Nineveh. Remember that city, the capital city of the Assyrian Empire. We remember this story probably most vividly from Jonah, Jonah the prophet running from God but than having to circle back around and obey God and go to Nineveh and the Ninevites repent at the time. Nahum deals with Nineveh, but we have to go forward about 150 years after Jonah. And the thing about Nahum is almost nothing is known about them at all. The name Nahum means comfort and the book says he was from Elkosh, but the problem about that is nobody knows where Elkosh is. Like, was it a village, was it a town, like where are we talking about? Placing Nahum in time is a little bit easier because there are some references to events that are historical events contained within the prophecy. For example, Assyria conquered Thebes, which is in Egypt and that is a well-known historical fact and that happened in 663 B.C., but it's referenced in Nahum. So, weā¦we know the Nahum was written after that date. And Nahum also prophesies theā¦the fall of Nineveh. And that's also a historical fact, it happened in 612 B.C. So, Nahum probably did his prophetic ministry between those two events. And like I said this is a prophecy against Nineveh and this time the destruction of Nineveh is foretold. So, whatever repentance they had 150 years previousā¦wellā¦was over. And the Assyrians were known for their brutality and known for their mistreatment of those they had conquered. I mean like a legendarily known for it. And they had destroyed the northern kingdom of Israel. And we remember this. We read the entire story. The Assyrian Empire came and destroyed Samaria and took the northern 10 tribes of Israel into exile where they were assimilated and never were cohesive tribes ever again. And, so, God uses Nahum to foretell the destruction of Nineveh. And there are many scholars who believe that Nahumā¦like Nahum didn't travel to Nineveh to give this message. This was a prophecy likely issued from Jerusalem and was likely intended to be heard by Hebrew people who knew about the destruction of the northern kingdom, and then this prophecy would come and tell them God's intentions, which would give them encouragement to live true and live into all of the things that they were facing knowing that God was just, and that God would in the end would do what God will do. And, so, in the major and minor prophets we've seen God foretell things but also invite repentance and then tell of a future where things would be restored so we know that God is merciful and patient. But we also know that God, Heās not a pushover, and nobody's gonna pushā¦theā¦this is God. And, so, no nation will stand before God and God will not stand for a nation's sin forever. And, so, with that we will read the complete book of Nahum. Weāre reading from the Good News translation this week. Nahum contains three chapters, and we will of course begin with chapter one.
Prayer:
Father we thank You for Your word. We thank You for the 136th Psalm today that over and over in the face of everything reminds us that Your love is eternal no matter what. And we are grateful for that. We bask in that. We relax in that. We exhale in that. Thank You for Your eternal love for us and we invite Your Holy Spirit to continually remind us of this. This Psalm is so beautiful because it won't let it go. Your love is eternal over and over and over. And, so, let that sink in today. Holy Spirit come we pray in Jesusā name. Amen.
Announcements:
dailyaudiobible.com is the website, home base, and its where you find what's going on around here. And it's been Christmas around here. It gets more Christmasy every day as we move towards Christmas in the world. And, so, it's been Christmas time around here. So, let me let you know about something brand-new for Christmas.
So, my wife Jill is a singer ifā¦if you didn't know. Not like, she's my wife and she sings, like a professional singer. This wasā¦this was Jillās career and my career was in the music business as well as a record producer beforeā¦before life tipped upside down and we found ourselves in full-time ministry. Something we really really thought was never on the radar. So, she has several albums and has toured all over the world singing. And, so, virtually she will be performing a candlelight service with some of our friends and partners in ministry in the Global Campfire community. Churches all over the world are part of what we do here. And, so, sheās gonna be singing and weāll post a link to that, especially ifā¦especially if you are virtual and maybe have no home then weāll definitely post that on our social media links on Christmas eve. But she was asked to sing O holy night, which any of you out there who are singers, you know, thatās a singerās song and that is a deceptively difficult song to sing. But she and I got together, and we were like, ālet'sā¦letās make this real. Letās do this like we always did. Let'sā¦let's create a single that we can release into this holiday season into this unforgettable year. The words of that song just cut through which is why it's one of those songs thatās just stood the test of time, it just cuts through. And, so, we produced the single and she sang her heart out and we released it and you can hear now. Look for Jill Parr. Of course, her names Jill Hardin, she's my life but she was Jill Parr before she was Jill Hardin, and she was already known as Jill Parr and that's who she's known ofā¦as known asā¦as a singer. So, just look for Jill Parr and look for O holy night the single and there you go, you can stream on Spotify, modify Apple music, Google play, YouTube music, wherever. You can also buy it from any of these stores and $0.99 track is like a stocking stuffer for the Daily Audio Bible. Everything helps, especially everything in a year like this one. And weāve just kind of always had a little bit of an unspoken motto - if weāre gonna ask, weāre gonna give too. And, so, we worked hard and it's available now for your Christmas listening pleasure and I hope it encourages you tremendously and inspires you.
Also, kind of while youāre streaming or, you know, downloading albums and stuff thereās the Family Christmas album that is the soundtrack to the season for the Global Campfire. And you can get that at the Daily Audio Bible Shop if you want like a physical CD copy, but if you just, you know, your music is digital, and you download your albums digitally then look for Family Christmas. You can look for my name Brian Hardin and youāll find Family Christmas and stream or buy that record. It is the kind of record thatā¦wellā¦that really follows the sensibilities of the Daily Audio Bible where we really, really seek out peace, we really seek out serenity when we read the Scriptures, we really try to create a space thatās holy, a space thatās different, that's sacred and separate from all of the cares of this life, so that we have an oasis, a place to go. Well, Family Christmas is the soundtrack inside of that for Christmas. Itās the kind of thing you just sip your hot cocoa. And like Iāve always said, because it's what I like to do - turn off all the lights, leave the Christmas lights on, and just sit and take it all in. Community Prayer and Praise:
Good morning siblings itās your little sis His Little Cherry in Canada. Today is the third Sunday in Advent the beginning of joy and Iām so grateful for Advent this year. Every day in Advent I have been walking to the sunrise and itās been such a nourishing exercise. Today is bitterly cold. Itās -17 right now thatās Celsius which is about 1Ā°F and I still plan to walk to the sunrise. Iām just getting ready to go, bundling up. Iām putting three pairs of pants on and my big wool sweater and then my big knee length down jacket and I am bundling my head up with just a slit for my eyes showing and deep Arctic gloves and on and on and on. And I will be waddling to the sunrise this morning but I will be there and I just have come to depend on seeing the sunrise. Hosea 6:3 says, āas surely as the sun rises the Lord will appear. He will come to us like the winter rains, like the spring rains that water the earth. So, come Lord Jesus I will meet you at the sunrise. We will both be there.ā And family Iām taking you with me today to discover the certainty of joy.
Hello DAB family I was just listening to this song that says, āyes I will choose to glorify your name, the name of all namesā and I was thinking about just 2020 and how we can say as believers God has been good in 2020. God has been faithful this year. Weāre going to look at all of the things that heās done for us and know all of the things we donāt know that Heās done for us to take care of us, to show us love, to protect us. Heās done so much. And, so, I choose to praise Him. I choose to give thanks for all that He is and all that Heās done in 2020. I am praising Him for it. This has been a great year. Itā¦it still has and sometimes I have to go to the store, and I wear a mask and I feel claustrophobic and I donāt like it but Iām praising Him and when I hear about people sick, I pray for them. So, thatās the way I choose to live but I choose to praise the name of all names, Jesus and I just encourage you all to do the same. And I love you and bless you and Iām so happy to finish out the year with DAB.
Grace and peace Daily Audio Bible family this is RJ calling for Jesus. I just want to say this year 2020 has been a year of bitter and sweet. This year Iāve actually lost my mom. A month before that I actually got married to the love of my life. Three months before that I actually contracted theā¦the Covid virus and was tested positive and wowā¦during the season, you know, with my mom when we had her a home going I was able to reconcile with to my children one of myā¦one of my boys here thatās with my new wife has gotten in trouble with the law, you know, my job is at aā¦has hadā¦a lot of things have been happening, a lot of ups and downs. But I pray to God in the name of Jesus. So, a word of encouragement to those who are listening and to just never give up. Our God is able. Heās faithful to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we could ask or think according to the power that worketh in us through Christ. So, I pray that each and every one of you guys that are listening that youāre encouraged, that you let the love of God shine in your hearts and in your mind that whatever you do or what you see will be through that lens of love and you will share it to others. Be encouraged my family. Let the love of God continue to shine. Love you all. May God bless you. Amen.
Good morning this is Boyce in northern Nevada and first of all I want to thank Brian for this amazing community and this app that helps us to start our day with the word of God. I feel burdened to pray for all of the delivery people that are working right now many times around-the-clock. Iām a USPS mail carrier myself. And, so, I know that allā¦all delivery drivers and carriers are working tremendously harder than normal during this season. And, so, I just want to pray. Father God just be with all of theā¦the carriers - FedEx, UPS, USPS, Amazon drivers - that are having to work just around-the-clock tremendously longer hours and under the burden of this Covid 19 situation that is adding tremendous strain to theirā¦to their jobs. And just give them a sense of gratitude for all of the joy that we get toā¦we get to help people to receive the things that they ordered and that they need and that we have good jobs that are providing for our families. Also, Lord give them a sense of, you know, the harder that we work the more that we enjoy ourā¦our time off. So, I just ask that you be with them and keep them safe, their family safe in Jesusā name.
Hey Daily Audio Bible family this is Jason from North Carolina area. Brian I just wanted to say thank you for this. Iām glad that the Lord convicted your heart and allowed in His good grace you to produce this podcast. And I look forward to the God of My Story that I purchased for me and family members for Christmas. I look forward to using that as a companion to the Daily Audio Bible next year. This is my fourth youāre listening, and this is going to be the first year that I complete the Daily Audio Bible completely. And I thank the Lord God for that for it has changed my life profoundly. Jim and Janet if youāre listening to this just know that I love you so much and I thank you for this gift. So, again I thank you for that resource as well. I love you all and I thank you very much for this. Just it is wonderful again to have this example of community within our own local churches and families but as a church abroad. In Jesusā name I pray. Thank you, guys. Amen.

10 Questions Tag Game
Iāve been tagged by @jimbotniksā
Rules: Answer the 10 questions, ask a different 10 questions, and tag 10 people
(Small warning, I have ADHD and just took my meds so this is a little ramble-y and disjointed. I apologize, there is no way to fix this, my brain is just like that oops. For courtesy, Iāve put all the long stuff under the cut so you only have to read my monologue if you want to.)
1. What is your favorite genre of music? Why?
Probably indie-rock and indie punk. I like indie-rock largely because my favorite shows in my formative years were Chuck, Bones and a couple other āgolden eraā crime dramas that all featured a lot of indie-rock music in the background. Indie punk appeals to me because itās just a good catharsis while also being pretty damn dance-able. Kiwi Jr and AJJ are both really good bands if you need to just let it all out while jamming to some bops.
2. Whatās an art project youāve made that youāre proud of?
I draw angels frequently, often depicting them as humanoid but still terrifying. This was an art theme that Iāve had going since before I was religious and I find that āangelicā imagery can sometimes leak into my other art so a lot of my favorite art is drawings of wings, gore, monsters and all kinds of Gothic themes. Right now, I have a watercolor of Virginia Madsen that Iām just in love with. I was always enchanted by her hypnotized stare in Candyman and I did my best to capture that. I even went out with my girlfriend to buy a gold gel pen so her tears would glitter. From theme to technical prowess, itās my favorite painting right now and possibly my magnum opus. My previous best was a gore heavy, similarly angel themed, digital painting of Roger Wilco from the Space Quest games (weird special interests, I know.) I could go on about drawings I love for hours, so Iāll cut myself off here with the small post script that this is just my visual art and I also have poetry and prose that I feel similarly about.
3. Do you have a favorite album/podcast to put on in the background while you work or study?
It all really depends on my mood. My girlfriend shared a really relaxing Sovietwave playlist with me recently that Iāve been enjoying. I also listen to a lot of AJJ and Saint Motel, I donāt really think I could really pin down a specific album for either of them. The Candyman soundtrack works really well for study especially for my Gothic and Mystery class. I have a playlist titled Fuck Funk thatās specifically for writing fanfiction since I could never find a good playlist for writing smut when I needed it but I also use that playlist to work out since itās mostly just a healthy mix of songs that I can jam to. Iāve never liked podcasts for study/work since I canāt really write and listen at the same time but I did make a podcast once for a professor that was a radio-play style parody of Scooby-Doo. I did all of the editing and I still listen back over it and pat myself on the back for turning 2 hours of raw improv into something that got us like a 98. A lot of my own music taste peaks through.
4. If you could become the protagonist/antagonist of any media franchise, which one would you pick and why?
Realistically, Animal Crossing because thatās the safest bet least likely to lead to my death. If weāre gonna get wild... probably BJ Blazkowicz from Wolfenstein so I could kick some N*zi ass or Conan Edogawa/Jimmy Kudo from Case Closed/Detective Conan so I could enjoy that sweet mid 90ā²s aesthetic.
5. Can you play any instruments? which ones?
I can, actually, Iāve played cello since I was 8 (Iām 18 now) although Iām a little rusty. I played piano and drums for a while and while Iām pretty useless when it comes to piano these days, I still maintain a pretty firm grip on my sense of time and rhythm thanks to the years I spent playing percussion. I played bari sax in middle and high school. I marched it for 3 years until I had a back injury but I was in jazz band all 4 years of high school so I was still playing. I was also in choir for a very long time and even spent my junior and senior years in an acapella Madrigal choir (I still have my costumes from both years) and even though it hasnāt been a whole year since I graduated, I still miss singing. I certainly donāt miss high school but I do miss that choir.
6. Do you collect anything? If so, what?
Not sure if this counts but Iāve been an achievement hunter/completionist since I played Ocarina of Time so I guess I ācollectā video game achievements. I also collect lost things when I find them. I have an abandoned library card, two different gym membership cards, and a whole bunch of business cards. I have a small collection of lighters but thatās less about the joy of collecting and more about how often I burn incense. Aside from the usual stuffed animal collection that most people have from childhood, I donāt collect anything else.
7. How many songs are there in your music library?
This is kinda difficult for me to answer. I use Spotify and I donāt always download my music since I have unlimited data, but it currently says that I have 1070 ālikedā songs which is likely a little conservative since I had to switch accounts last year and lost some of my music in the process. (This just got me thinkin, back in the iTunes era when songs were 99cents a pop I would have had to pay more than a thousand dollars for that kind of collection.)
8. If you could live anywhere in the world, and at any time in history, where and when would you choose?
So, by any time in history do you mean only the past or the future too? If future is an acceptable answer, Iām gonna say Star Trek. Like if Star Trek ever becomes vaguely reality, Iām going there. Even if the details are wrong, a career as a science officer on a space ship in a universe that isnāt constantly at war and is instead working towards peace and the pursuit of higher knowledge is perfect. If weāre only talking about the past, with no allowances for possible futures, then I think Iād want to live in the 80s in a metropolitan city like New York, Chicago, or Tokyo. Perhaps its misplaced nostalgia, but working as a secretary sounds nice. In the 80s you could still outright buy an apartment instead of renting it and it was actually semi-affordable (at least for the privileged) which as someone facing adulthood in the current economy, sounds like a dream come true. I guess I just want the simplicity and security of economy back then. Lookin for that yuppie life!
9. Have you ever performed live in front of an audience?
I have, several times. Although Iāve never been a headliner or anything Iāve played and sang at school concerts (even had a few solos) and my jazz band once performed for a dance hall full of people. Iāve never been paid unless you count getting a free CD but Iāve performed in front of quite a few live audiences.
Anyway, Jimbotnik didnāt write a tenth question so I guess I get an out. Iām sorry for my rambling answers, thatās just life. Iām gonna tag @jasminerobotnik @zoekrystall @rohotnik since yāall are my Sonic blog mutuals (like my header implies, I keep my main and this side blog separate for privacyās sake) Iām also tagging @actsoflove @manicrobotnik @dusicielkusiciel @hamil-trash24 @lee-bunny @legally-immortal and @wutevrz
If youāre confused as to why I tagged you, I donāt have many mutuals so I picked followers who Iād seen some interaction from. You donāt have to play if you donāt want to and Iāll delete your tag if youād prefer. As usual with these games, itās also open to anyone who wants to get one of these started among their group so if youāre reading this post and wish youād been tagged, thatās you.
My questions:
Do you wear glasses/contacts? If you wear glasses do you like how they look on you?
Do you have a playlist of music thatās just for when youāre sad? What are your favorite songs from it?
Is there a skill you consider yourself particularly good at?
If youāre the kind of person who uses a reusable water bottle, do you decorate it? If not, what is your favorite drink day to day?
Do you drink diet soda or can you not tolerate the taste?
Do you write fanfiction? What fandoms and genres? Do you share your fic with people you know in real life?
Whatās your favorite scent? Do you often buy scented products like incense or candles?
Do you like scary movies? If so, whatās your favorite? If you donāt, what is your favorite genre of films?
Whatās your go to movie snack when youāre watching in a theater? What about when youāre watching a movie at home?
Whatās your favorite āmediumā for art (sculpture, dance, music, painting, drawing, poetry etc.) and which one do you feel most adept at?
