Me rambling to you all about how since Community episode 21st Century Romanticism (S2E15) was actually written by a gay woman, the part about Annie maybe being a lesbian shouldn’t be viewed as surface level and may actually be grounded in some truth, and how if the show had actually delved deeper and not played it off as a joke Annie could (and would have been) canon lesbian, but because of either the plot device of JeffAnnie or simply a lack of queer people in the writers room we did not get this.

even her interest towards troy in season 1 is very heteronormative, because annie happened to pick THE most popular guy in highschool to crush onc because he never would've given her the time of day

her interest in jeff also seems very situational to me, in a way? she likes him when it's convenient for her to like him, and is disinterested when it becomes an inconvenience, or when another love interest shows up (like rich)
