Léopold Lafleche (1834 - 1915) was a member of the Parisian French Brotherhood of Assassins active during the Bakumatsu Period. Léopold was sent to Japan to support and aid the Tokugawa Shogunate, against the Templar-backed Imperial Court in Kyoto.
Foreign powers were also involved in the conflict with the British Empire and the Kingdom of Prussia backing the Imperial Court and the French Empire aiding the fragile Tokugawa shogunate. Unfortunately for the Assassins, the Templar-backed Imperial forces would successfully defeat the Tokugawa shogunate and restore the sovereignty of the Emperor, putting an end to the age of the samurai.

“Clemency Plea Heard,” MOntreal Gazette. August 22, 1941. Page 9. ---- Judge Decides to Halve Term of First Offender --- A first offender, Leopold Comeau, 17, asked for clemency yesterday morning and got it - Judge Edouard Archambault giving him half the sentence he imposed on Comeau’s three companions, convicted of burglarizing a St. Joseph boulevard east home of $2,000 worth of household effects. Comeau got one year in jail after his three pals, who admitted failing to take advantage of previous court leniency, had been sent to the penitentiary for two years each.
The other three, Jacques St. Aubin, 4876 Chambord street; Charles Henri Demers, 19, 5660 Delorimier avenue, and Jean Lafleche, 19, no given address, each had one previous conviction and had received light sentences usually accorded first offenders.
James Reiley, 19, 1482 Craig street, east, was also given a two-year penitentiary term for bicycle thefts by Judge J. C. Langlois. Reiley had requested the court for a penitentiary term. He got two years on each of five charges, the sentenes to be served concurrently.

AUGUST 20, 1864
@nobuverse The scorching heat of the final month of summer engulfed the bustling streets of Kyoto, the very heart of imperial power in Japan. The heavily guarded Palace stood tall, a symbol of protection, with samurai from different domains, especially the Aizu and Satsuma, ensuring its safety. Tensions ran high, and the warriors of the sword found little respite on this eventful day.
Following the signing of equal treaties, the Shogun was forced to open Japan's ports to foreign traders, breaking away from the long-standing sakoku policy. This decision sparked widespread discontent, and the people united under the cry of "expelling the barbarians." The consequences were severe, leading to numerous assassinations by both pro-imperial sympathizers and anti-foreigner groups.
Amidst this tumultuous atmosphere, Leopold Lafleche, an Assassin from the French Parisian Brotherhood, found himself amidst the foreigners present in Kyoto. His mission was to support the fragile Tokugawa against the Imperial Court, but he faced disdainful looks from the guards. Struggling with the language and customs, he was seen as an outsider, a "barbarian" in their eyes.
Unfazed by the hostile glares, Leopold scoffed, caring little for their judgment. The Brotherhood had sent him on a mission, and any grievances could be taken up with the Shogun himself. Preparing for action, he loaded five rounds of Col .36 cartridges into his single-action revolver, securing it in his leather holster.

Leopold Lafleche, the Assassin, concealed himself within the cloak of darkness like a specter. The billowing hood shrouded his visage, lending an air of mystique to his presence. In his left hand, a dimly flickering oil lamp emitted a feeble glow, illuminating his immediate surroundings. The Colt Navy Revolver rested firmly in his other hand, its barrel gleaming and loaded with a meager five rounds of lethal Colt ammunition.
He deftly cocked back the hammer, the metallic click reverberating softly in the night air. His grip on the weapon tightened as if an extension of his own being. Through narrowed eyes, he surveyed the foreboding darkness, a sentinel poised to strike.
