I was tagged by @knaveofheartsad for this @podcastgirlsweek poll game, so let’s do this! Thanks for the tag!
I don’t know if you can tell, but I’m a big fan of weird, potentially evil women. And women in general. I love you, women.
Gonna try to tag all of the appropriate podcasts, add your propaganda in the reblogs, y’all!

Leona and Fel from the amazing podcast Starfall! I’ve been doodling this for a few weeks and I think I’m gonna leave it here for right now. I love these two immensely, they are queerplatonic partners in my brain. This piece is formally untitled, but it could definitely be referred to as “Hug and a Sandwich”. Y’all should listen to Starfall, it’s fantastic.
Hi @starfallpod , I love your creatures, they have taken up permanent residence directly behind my eyeballs.
Likes and reblogs are appreciated, but DO NOT repost my art. If you’d like to use my art for a pfp, DM me and we can work that out 💚

Yet another fiction podcast I’ve fallen in love with, here’s my take on Leona and Fel from Starfall!
Please check it out, it’s so heartfelt and I adore the worldbuilding. And the characters! I love all of them, even the ones I definitely wouldn’t be friends with in real life (lookin at you, Hosse).

Omfg, Leona from Starfall is so fucking adorable 🥰. I always wondered what a Paladin-style character like her would jam best in a story. It’s absolutely fascinating how the humor vibes without her being the butt of jokes.
Also, her and Fell are to die for. Like how can the cuteness go that high? If there was a cuteness meter, it’d definitely break whenever Fell is overprotective of Leona.
I still can’t get over the scene when Leona carried Fell away from those beetle fae-creatures. I imagine it as a bridal carry.
I’m on Act 1 Scene 5. Honestly amazed I got this far, I’m more of a scifi, spaceships going boom sort of joy so whenever a fantasy jams.. heh, definitely gonna listen to this a couple more times in the future.
I heard there’s a character with they/them pronouns somewhere. Keeping my eyes pealed but tbh the drama is so fucking killer that I keep forgetting to listen for it lol.

Question more so for Hannah than Tessa but who knows, maybe podcasts exist in the dnd world.
wanted to know if you had any queer fantasy and/or sci-fi audio drama recommendations. I’ve listened to and loved Welcome To NightVale, Jar Of Rebuke, Absolutely No Adventures, Zoo, The Bright Sessions, and of course, Inn Between. Thanks regardless :]
DO I
Yeah I definitely do. I'm actually one of those cishets myself, so just to be absolutely clear, i'm going to include only shows with at least one main character who's not like. You know. One of me. I'm also looking at your selections and noting a sort of steady pacing, respect for exploration, and character focus, so I'll be leaning toward those.
FANTASY
Dragon's Rest is a sitcom in the vein of ANA and Inn Between--a fantasy inn, a grumpy owner, her hapless hero hopeful busboy, the local lush, a bard who, and I cannot stress this enough, is too dumb to read. It's delightful, honestly.
Eeler's Choice is a strange and beautiful oceanic adventure about magic, siblings, and giant eels. The music slaps also.
Electromancy: imagine if Harry Potter was a) not written by a freakin transphobe, and b) actually asked hard questions about imperialism. Like hey, should we be doing imperialism?
The Kingmaker Histories is hard to describe. I can say "steampunk," and "magic" and "magical politics" and "Collette's got a jewel stuck in her head that explodes people sometimes" but that's not even the half of it.
Sidequesting is like, best friends with ANA. Rion, a brave hero, is given a magic sword for an epic quest...and promptly goes and does literally everything else. It's so nice.
Starfall hey what's up Starfall I love you Starfall, Starfall's about a magic theater troupe and definitely not also about how imperialism is bad, actually. Fel and Leona own my whole heart. Friends.
Sci-Fi
Ask Your Father is one of those shows that hits you in the teeth. When an accident sends an astronaut and his AI bestie way off course, he finds himself lost in space, answering questions from his kids and husband that will absolutely break your heart. I cried. A lot.
Gastronaut is near-future sci-fi about a bougie foodie who goes on a journey to discover the food of the Asian diaspora throughout the solar system. And things go...very bad. This show loves food so much and it loves the characters even more.
Midnight Burger is...everything. How do you even describe it. It's hard sci-fi dressed up in a found family package and served with fries. Or maybe beans and rice, if Gloria's cooking. It is a deeply cynical show that nevertheless insists that the universe is worth fighting for, with everything you've got.
The Pasithea Powder is explicitly written for people who like a gritty, uncomfortable, messy romance. Like, did you like Stucky fanfic? So do the writers and it's amazing. The tagline is that a retired fighter pilot/war hero and a disgraced scientist/war criminal used to be best friends. They still might be, if the other one will pick up the phone.
Second Star to the Left is about colonization and xenobiology and the kinds of connections you can make light years away from each other. It's about rules and when it's okay to break them. It's beautiful.
Startripper!! is also very ANA and Inn Between--an accountant decides to ditch his day job, buy the far-future equivalent of a Millennium Falcon replica, and travel the universe for the rest of his life. It's so fun.
The Strange Case of the Starship Iris is like, if Firefly had real Asians in it. It's about a group of space smugglers turned galaxy heroes, and it's absolutely incredible.
Travelling Light is another travelogue, but this one features a person doing archival work for their community and meeting amazing people and hearing amazing stories while they do it. It's so gentle and wonderful.
World Gone Wrong is a chat podcast between two separated roommates who are trying to make sense of the end of the world. Like what do you do with that extra hour in the day now? Is my community going to lose its mind because some of the trees look like women? How can I throw a poetry jam that's inclusive for my werewolf friends? It's so well crafted and well acted. I think about it every day.
Wow this ended up long. There's a few to get you started!

Happy @podcastgirlsweek to all who celebrate! While I haven't had the time to properly work on fics (and probably won't this week because oops, hurt my hands yesterday) I still wanted to take the time to highlight some favorite podcast girlies along with everyone else!
The prompt for Monday is highlighting podcasts with women in the leading roles, so here's a few of mine (and hopefully, some new ones of yours if you don't know them yet):
Back Again, Back Again: Ilyaas, you absolutely fantastic disaster of a fantasy ace, never stop trying.
Breathing Space: While the show is anthology with a rotating cast, some of my favorites from across its run include:
Evie Yuriskin
Amity Archer
Any characters who were introduced one episode and then started referring to each other as "my wife" by the end or by their next appearance
Camlann: Some apocalypse survivors interpret dangerous dreams about dark magic to cope. Some knit sweaters. Both are valid and should kiss.
City of Ghosts: Featuring the grungy, disgruntled, tormented-by-visions LADY detective of your dreams.
Desperado: Take note - give your ladies knives. And god powers. And witchcraft. And a sniper rifle, for good measure.
Do You Copy?: I think [REDACTED] deserves three weeks of paid vacation
Fawx & Stallion: Madge Stallion is THE moment. She's six feet tall. She can't stop making innuendos. She's not your fucking Mrs. Hudson (although, she is - no, I shan't say).
Hi Nay: Mari & Laura are my everything - the loving and self-sacrificing hero and the newfound friend who chooses to stand by her side (fire axe and all).
Inn Between: Oh, my Inn Between girlies, where do I start? Fina and Betty, the OGs and life partners that even death couldn't stall? Rosie and Zara, the new best pals who chose to stay together? Phoebe, just one step at a time learning what she deserves and what she doesn't? All impeccable, A+.
It Makes A Sound: Any show focused on music is going to be a slam dunk for me, but Deirdre's quest to reclaim her memories as well as those that tied her to her mother is so damn real and compelling.
The Kingmaker Histories: No female character in this show has ever done anything wrong. Colette gets a migraine pass. Ariadne can turn people inside out. Daphne is owed this for working in a theme park.
Life With LEO(h): Janiiiiiine, so messy and smart and dedicated and she cares so much, I love yoooooou.
Me and AU: Kate's worries and desires and doubts are some of the realest out of any audio drama so when do I find an Ella too
Palimpsest: My faaaaavorite gothic horror anthology, each one fresh with a different brand of haunted, tormented, secret-keeping (and quite frequently gay) gothic protagonist
The Pasithea Powder: Jane and Sophie. Sophie and Jane. What more could you need? <3
The Silt Verses: Women who start cults/leave cults/seek an end to the endless cycle of meaningless sacrifice as so valid. For all your wet cat(fish) woman needs.
Second Star to the Left: Because I always love a good Ishani performance. Hi Gwen, please tell Boots I love them.
Small Victories: You want sad wet cat women? How about one that literally can't stop self-sabotaging (but at least manages to draw the line at sabotaging others...occasionally). She even gets stabbed!
Starfall: I mean, kind of a given, but anyway, Leona definitely exists because she's the kind of action protagonist woman I always wanted - one that could be unapologetically powerful, but still full of flaws and desires (especially ones that weren't about falling in love and minimizing her own strengths). She's even autistic!
Stories From Ylelmore: Keryth! Keryth, Keryth, Keryth! She reminds me so much of the kinds of characters I would make up when I was younger - I love her and her small magic so dearly.
The Strange Case of Starship Iris: Hi queer space pirates <3
Unseen: Another anthology show, but Harry Winters and Never-Ending Circles remains one of the most perfect premiere episodes I've ever heard in audio drama.
The Way We Haunt Now: Get your podcast ladies here, dead or alive!
We Fix Space Junk: My favorite type of repairman is a woman who could kick my ass.
Wolf 359: I don't think I need say much more here - y'all know and love 'em just as much as I do.

Happy Audio Drama Sunday! I added a returning show to the list this week, so I was very excited!
Residents of @proserpinapark Ep 36 - The Forbidden Fruit: For someone who seems to be so driven to understand the mystery of the monkeys, Junichi is really resistant to hearing about any of his missing memories. Is this part of the curse? Thankfully, Mirai is there to help. Very interesting learning about the various versions of the waq waq tree or Ninmemju!
@midnightburgr Chapter 38 - Welcome to the Triad: BertBert! Verge! The Sisters! We've been all over the place in this timeline but I love that Verge and BertBert are connected to the Sisters as well. I kinda wish Verge had gone with the Sisters, just to give them a break from the hiding and fear. But then we wouldn't have Welcome to the Horizon (at least not in its current form) and that would be a crying shame.
@starfallpod Season 1: in anticipation of the start of Season 2, I re-listened to S1 (again). There are so many things I love about this show — how real the characters feel, the detailed history and magical systems that we've only scratched the surface of, the love letter it is to the theatre, the mystery of Leona's backstory, the absolutely fantastic (and ginormous) cast, the sound design... I could go on!
Starfall Act 1 Scene xiii: Starfall is back! And with Leona's first cast party! This episode definitely captured the cast party vibes. It's so fun to hear all of these fantastic characters again. I love it when Dalyn and Leona get paired together, I think their dynamic is so good. Leona learning how to dance was so sweet! Obviously we knew there would be some chaos - it's the Carouvel Traveling Acting Troupe after all!
@camlannpod Episode 2 - Are Horses Still A Thing & Episode 3 - The Lantern Man: I know I commented on it last week, but ugh, the music and the sound design is seriously *chef's kiss*. The sounds of the kelpie and how we went underwater with Dai when he got pulled in? Incredible. Each episode also has me wanting to read up on all these myths and creatures. Some I know, like the kelpie. Others, not so much (the Lantern Man, for example). I love it. And my reaction to the reveal at the end of episode 3: oh dang!!
@hinaypod Episode 47 - Pasko (Christmas) Part 1: This episode is being released tonight but thanks to the wonders of Patreon, I've already been able to listen to it. And I just can't wait another week to yell about it!!!! No spoilers but oh. my. god. This episode. Is wild. I was making so many noises and exclamations while listening that my partner checked to see if I was okay. You are not prepared. And next week is Part 2!!!
