CW: jokey mention of SA by a chocolate bar, literally first thing
Keep in mind that I heard the contextless callback from the podcast first and in the US, a Yorkie is this😳🫣😅😂:

So I had to subscribe to the podcast to find out what they were talking about 😅🙃
Unrelatedly, if anyone knows of an website or app (not tiktok or IG) where I can easily add completely accurate or editable subtitles, please tell me. The ones on this video originally had major errors and my method was time intensive and annoying, so I ran out of steam. Also I’m hard of hearing myself, so I often can’t catch what’s being said when there’s a lot of noise. Sorry for the imperfections!
Please do not repost without asking first!
#this is still quite an answer#we also don’t have ‘finger of fudge’#there was an earlier question about Groundhog Day that I left out#this conversation is wild#the full 67 minute audio podcast is available wherever you listen to podcasts#michael sheen#richard herring#backstage interview#michael sheen video#yorkie#space dust#tw sa mention#as a joke#yorkshire terrier#michael fucking sheen#welsh seduction machine#richard herring Leicester Square Theatre podcast#rhlstp#aziraphale#good omens

clean shaven mike… just some food for thought…
Not that you're not handsome with the mustache, but you're very handsome without the mustache.

i’m sorry but your last post??!!? where did he say that? 😭
lmaoooo it was a taping for the upcoming season of Richard Herring’s Leicester Square Theatre Podcast. he also talked about penile aging issues (“pumping and pissing”). the man has never heard of the concept of Inside Thoughts. we literally set a timer for how long it would take him to bring up david tennant and got whiskey shots to take when it inevitably happened.

Remembering actor and playwright, Frank Williams, who passed away June 26th, 2022, aged 90.
Although best remembered as Vicar Timothy Farthing in Dad's Army, his career was varied, and included roles on stage, in mainstream and indie films, and on television.
His breakthrough role on television was as Captain Pocket in the first ever ITV sitcom, The Army Game, several of his own plays were staged professionally over the years, and two productions, Murder By Appointment and Alibi For Murder, toured nationally in the UK.
Having struggled with typecasting following The Army Game, he was keen not to face the same frustrations after the end of Dad’s Army. He subsequently went abroad seeking some professional anonymity, and found work in serious roles on stage at Vienna’s English Theatre.
Although consistent television work became elusive in Frank Williams' later career, he had a series of memorable cameos in very successful programmes over a number of years, including Minder, Hi de Hi, Bergerac, the mini-series dramatisation of Jeffrey Archer’s political novel, First Among Equals, and the multi-award-winning original British version of House of Cards (1990), starring Ian Richardson. He appeared in 14 of the 26 episodes of You Rang M’Lord?, (by Dad's Army creators Jimmy Perry and David Croft), and his final television credit was in Ruth Jones' Stella in 2017.
His final stage appearance was a celebration of his 90th birthday at the Leicester Square Theatre in 2021.

British television historian, podcaster and publisher, Oliver Crocker, worked with Frank Williams on several projects, including a short film biography, Dad's Army and Beyond: The Frank Williams Story, which played at the National Film Theatre for the Dad's Army 40th anniversary in 2008.
Oliver has shared his personal memories of Frank Williams, and has generously provided some fascinating audio of the great man himself reminiscing about his life and career, for a special podcast episode commemorating the first anniversary of his passing.
It was a real privilege to work with Oliver to put this together.

Fall Season of Play On Shakespeare Podcast LIVE: Et tu, Brute?

It's disappointing that most people intersect with famed English playwright William Shakespeare in high school English and then only reference The Bard when playing pub trivia.
Play On Shakespeare, the not-for-profit organization dedicated to exploring the world of Shakespeare in performance through translation and adaptation, has been working diligently to change that perspective.
Building upon Play On Shakespeare’s mission to enhance the understanding of Shakespeare’s plays in performance, Play On Podcasts bring timeless tales directly to modern audiences. The series – presented by Next Chapter Podcasts in partnership with Play On Shakespeare – has released Macbeth, Pericles, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, and Coriolanus amongst various other titles over the last few years.
Play On Podcasts recently won two Signal Awards – for Best Original Music/Score (Gold) and for Best Scripted Fiction (Silver). Play On Podcasts also recently won at The Ambies – for Best Original Score and Music Supervision [Lindsay Jones for Othello].

This fall, Play On Podcasts releases Julius Caesar in a modern verse translation by Shishir Kurup. Episode 1 will drop on October 14.
Listen here.
For those who enjoy live performances, Play On Shakespeare has announced its Fall 2024 Season.
Fall 2024 Season:
Coriolanus Presented by Oregon Shakespeare Festival and Portland Center Stage Produced in association with upstart crow collective and Play On Shakespeare Now through October 13 Translation: Sean San José Adaption and Direction: Rosa Joshi Location: Thomas Theatre [Ashland, OR]
When civil unrest wracks Rome as the famine-ravaged underclass battle the ruling elite, a war hero steps into the spotlight to serve his nation—only to turn on it and seek its overthrow. Shakespeare’s rarely produced tragedy comes to visceral life in a powerful, movement-focused production featuring a cast of female and non-binary actors.
More information here.
A Midsummer Night’s Dream Great Lakes Theater in partnership with Idaho Shakespeare Festival October 4 - 27 Translation: Jeff Whitty Direction: Sara Bruner Location: Great Lakes Theater - Hanna Theatre, Playhouse Square [Cleveland, OH]
An exhilarating night of midsummer madness, this magical comedy brims with mistaken identity, mismatched lovers, and mischief-making fairies. This modern verse translation of Shakespeare’s comic masterpiece ensnares two pairs of lovers and a rustic troupe of would-be actors in a forest full of comedic adventure. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is a joyful celebration of love lost, transformed, and restored that casts a powerfully pleasing spell.
More information here.
The Winter’s Tale Presented by 1623 Theatre Company December 6 - January 11 Translation: Tracy Young Adaptation and Direction: Ben Spiller Location: Attenborough Arts Centre (throughout December) [Leicester, UK] Location: Derby Theatre Studio (throughout January) [Derby, UK]
It’s the toughest winter ever in Sicilia Court, a rundown council estate still waiting to be leveled up. High costs and low wages mean cold homes, hungry stomachs, and desperate minds. It’s impossible for anyone to hold their nerve here. When the king of the estate accuses his wife of cheating, he shames her in public and threatens anyone who dares to challenge him. As jealousy and rage spiral out of control, unthinkable cruelty takes over the estate and everything falls apart. Is there any hope that the truth will out, and will the community ever recover? The Winter's Tale is co-created by a team of Deaf, disabled, LGBTQ+, global majority, neurodivergent, and working-class theater-makers.
More information here.
ACMRS Press [Arizona Center for Medieval and Renaissance Studies] has released all of Play On Shakespeare’s translations in print (39 titles).
Play On Shakespeare’s DEMOS project is available on YouTube. The DEMOS project is a series of vibrant, short films that demonstrate side-by-side performances of Shakespeare’s original text and the modern translations, featuring extraordinarily talented actors with a wealth of experience performing Shakespeare.
MORE ON PLAY ON SHAKESPEARE:
Play On Shakespeare is a non-profit company promoting and creating contemporary modern translations of Shakespeare’s plays. Play On Shakespeare partners with artists and organizations across the globe to deliver and advocate for these translations through theatrical productions, podcasts, and publications. For more information, visit playonshakespeare.org. Play On Shakespeare is made possible through the generous support of the Hitz Foundation.
The Hitz Foundation has projects in science, the arts, and the environment worldwide. In addition to Play On Shakespeare and Play On Podcasts, the foundation funds Global Digital Heritage, which captures state-of-the-art 3D models of museum collections and heritage sites and shares them with the world at no cost.
Before I go, here's some Shakespeare knowledge you can use to impress your friends. "According to a report by Priceonomics, A Midsummer Night's Dream gets the most professional performances nowadays. The website Shakespearances documented nearly every professional Shakespeare production worldwide, and A Midsummer Night's Dream accounted for more than 7% of all Shakespeare performances. (Together, Parts 1 and 2 of Henry VI were the least performed."

Comedy Clubs in London
Living in London for the past year and getting to explore all of the comedy venues has been such a treat! Here's a round up of some of my favourites.
Angel Comedy @ The Bill Murray, Islington
The king of the London comedy scene, Angel has everything. You catch huge name WIPs, free new material shows every day of the week, sketch shows, competitions, and even take a Stand Up Beginner's Course. The schedule is jam packed, with multiple shows a day, even from 1pm until 11pm on weekends. The Camden Head is their second venue, hosting Angel Comedy Fridays and Saturdays. Don't live in London? Join the Angel Comedy Thursday LIVESTREAM every week at 8pm!
Top Secret Comedy Club, Covent Garden
Top Secret have recently opened a second venue, now with double the secrets! The lineups are kept on lockdown, and the guests could be anyone from new names to TV legends. Tickets start at just £1 for the earlier shows, so it's definitely worth it for the chance to discover new comics. Recently I've seen Jeff Innocent, Laura Smyth, and Marcel Lucont here. Do keep in mind that you're usually expected to make a donation on your way out.
Camden Comedy Club
Particularly good for jam-packed mixed bill nights, super high quality acts. Friday shows by The Rat Pack, and regular '& Friends' evenings that see a big name MCing the evening.
2NorthDown, King's Cross
Super cool underground venue (literally! bring a friend because there's no signal!) with lots to offer throughout the week. Giddy Aunt Improv currently has their London residency here, and every last Tuesday of the month is £2 Tuesdays, showcasing new material for up and coming acts.
Hackney Empire, Hackney
Technically a theatre, rather than a club, but this iconic venue is home to big name tours, so it's always good to keep an eye on what's on.
The Comedy Store
Legendary venue. Their mixed bill nights do have some tough competition, but where they're really strong is the improv offerings! The Comedy Store Players perform on Sundays, and Paul Merton & Suki Webster have a regular slot for their improv show as well. The Funny Girls zine front cover pays homage to the Comedy Store logo.
Live at the Clapham Grand, Clapham
An excellent venue with excellent comedy nights. It's best to sign up to the mailing list for these, because the shows don't come around too frequently. When they do, they're perfectly curated with the best of the best, lineups that mesh together seamlessly. Groups of 4 can sit at tables in the stalls or circle.
Always Be Comedy @ The Tommyfield, Kennington
ABC with James Gill is truly one of the greats, a favourite for comedians. The shows sell out very quickly so signing up to the mailing list is the way forward. Shows are often listed under cryptic names, and the mailing list reveals which comedians these are linked to - it also provides clues for some mystery guests. The Tommyfield serves delicious food, so head early to grab a seat at the pub before heading upstairs to Always Be. James also hosts the Always Be Comedy podcast alongside Tim Lewis, where they sit down with comedians and curate their dream gig. The podcast has also began the Friday show Comedy Heroes, where James and Tim discuss legends that have shaped comedy.
Other notable mentions
Up The Creek, Greenwich
Backyard Comedy, Bethnal Green
99 Club, Leicester Square
Soho Theatre, Soho
Boat Show Comedy, Embankment
Downstairs at the Kings Head, Crouch End
Big Belly, Southbank
