Something that I talked about on discord that I'll repeat now: I like the idea of the nurse at the bottom of mt.silver looking out for Red.

Red is gonna need to heal his pokemon after training once in a while, and so he would go down to the pokemon center just to do that. The nurse and staff there are small but greatly skilled ( it's not everyday a trainer comes to mt. Silver. Let alone a child). So more often than not, Red is usually the only one that enters their pokemon center. If not, it's usually at night. That's how the nurse first got acquainted with Red.

In the beginning, she would gently ask Red why he hasn't gone home yet. And every time, Red would just shake his head. She respected him enough to let it slide, but she still worries. There's time she's tempted to call anyone, someone about Red and his whereabouts but. She didn't want to disrespect the kids' privacy. Not after the fiasco that was him becoming champion. So, against her better judgment, she keeps quiet.

Sometimes Red wouldn't come down the mountain for an extended period of time. That wasn't exactly out of the ordinary with him. But on some days the nurse just has a gut feeling. The Nurse isn't the most talented battler out there,but there's a reason she and her staff are all placed at the base of mt. Silver. She can go to the mountain just fine, and once she reaches the top, she always makes sure to check on Red. To give him food, water, extra clothes and blankets etc etc. If she can't do it herself that day, she has one of her pokemon fly up there. Though she often prefers to go by foot. Just go see with her own eyes that the kid is okay.

Red is always quiet, mostly giving head nods or shakes, or sometimes even signing. The nurse would always open to possibilty for them to just. Talk. She knew sign, and she knew the kid was lonely. But every time Red turns away. Politely of course. Red is always polite. She thinks it's his way of punishing himself somehow. It hurts her to think about it. This never stops her checking in on her.

The minute she was aware that Blue and Green were going up the mountain, she knew Red's time on it was coming to an end. It wasn't immediate (red was stubborn, she knew that), but eventually he did come down.

The last thing he did before leaving was to visit her and offered to stay for a meal, which she happily obliged to. It was the first time the two actually talked. A hug and a thank you later, and Red was gone.

He still tries to keep in touch, don't worry.

Thinking about. Red's powers as a Chosen.

So. Here's the ideas so far

Psychic- what you'd expect. Being able to throw objects with his mind, lift himself and others, use psychic force etc.

Barrier - used to create a psychic wall or bubble that are used as a shield. Can be manipulated into more offensive components, such as using the pieces of a broken barrier to throw his enemies, or shift a barrier shape into something else, like say, a bunch of hands. Though more often than not, it's used for defensive purposes.

Invisibility - something I'm not 100% on, but given how Mew can turn invisible it might be useful for Red to do so too. Red can only be invisible for so long, of course. His invisibility and quietness would actually make him great for stealth missions.....but he's Red. Go big or bust.

Transform - Aka, shape shifting yet another one that I'm not 100% sure about but again, putting it into consideration. To be blunt, Red can transform parts of his body. For my sake, it's not in a gorey way, nor would it be painful. Shape shifting would be great for mobility and stealth, but again, this is Red.

Red is an interesting Chosen bc he's relatively new to it all. Mew forgot to Choose him in his youth so most of his experiences with Chosen was Green and the other mc ocs that I have him be close with. He was an outsider of it all, until he wasn't, so he has a lot of catching up to do. If Green still ends up getting taken by TLH, he would lose the best person that could have helped him adjust to his powers. Of course, Jude and the others are here to guide them, but Green has had the longest experience with being a Chosen next to Jin, and Green is the Chosen of Mewtwo. She would have been the best person to get him adjusted, but if she's gone, the stuff I described above will be a struggle for Red. Mew is a decent teacher, but again, Green is probably better. At least someone Red is comfortable sparring with.

( Legendverse) Red and Green(protag) stuff

Red

Compared to Blue and Green as kids, he was much more ( genuinely) polite and responsible ( as responsible as a child can be anyway).

This doesn't mean he doesn't get himself into mischief. Either bc Blue or Green dragged him into a mess or he specifically thought something was a challenge that he was going to beat, he tends to get into more trouble than it's worth. It's fine though bc he's very polite :)

LIVES for the outdoors. Protag Trait of literally disappearing on people, only to be found in some forest camping( he has gotten better at letting people know of this tho). Really good at foraging and stuff.

I wasn't totally sure of the Professor! Red before, but seeing so many of it, I think it's neat :) He already likes pokemon and does want to understand them more. He could get his PhD like Blue ( who. Honestly doesn't really use it much-) but. That means going to school. Red loves to learn, but he is very weary of the school system. Maybe one day though. Battling is still his biggest passion, of course, I just think it would be something cool for him to do on the side.

Going with the above, I think he would really like what Beryl has done with the johto safari zone. Turning it into a rehabilitation area for pokemon essentially. I think he would help around the place pre- battle tower.

Tying into his love of learning- when blue and green leave for Kalos I just imagine Red being. So board. And lonely. He's no longer fearing the public as much as he used too, and constantly training doesn't have the exact same appeal as it did before ( bc he's no longer alone on top of a mountain). So he honestly just tries learning shit. He is the King of useless facts now. Cooking, knitting, crafting, you name it. Yes, Green has tried to make a profit from this. No, Red hasn't sold anything.

Like. Okay Red isn't like a master of these things, I should add. The most he's extremely good at is camping, battling, and cooking. Everything else is just decent.

He doesn't know how to feel about being Chosen. Especially so late into the game. Apparently, mew was supposed to Choose him when he started his journey....but forgot. It wasn't until SM until Mew did Choose him and by that point it felt. Pointless??? He suppose he's grateful, since he thinks being Chosen at such a young age would have been. Very bad for his mental state ( which makes him feel bad for a lot of the other Chosens after him), but like. It just continues to put him in some sort of pedestal that he doesn't want. He could ask mew to just. Unchoose him but....he doesn't know. Mew is nice though. A gremlin that doesn't give clear instructions yes, but still nice.

Green

Was always kinda blunt, even as a kid. Surprising bc she's also a skilled liar. No one knows how or when she got into scamming people ( who deserved it) or how she got so interested in money, but she is and we all have to deal with it.

Being younger and, well, a girl, Blue used to try and not have her come along with him and Red on their adventures ( Red didn't mind Green coming along, in fact he liked her company). Green would kick Blue's kneecaps for that. She would get scolded for it, but so would Blue for excluding Green out, so it's a win. She comes up with way more fun games than Blue anyway.

Is in the middle of the road in terms of talkativeness. Blue is definitely the one who does the talking most times, but Green isn't shy from it herself. In fact she's pretty talkative too, just not as much as Blue. Still, she can be also pretty quiet like Red. I think these two have a cute friendship, but I gotta work out the details. Tbf, they are protags lol. Protags gotta stick together.

Like Red, has the Protag Trait of just disappearing and doing her own shit. Unlike Red, is probably worse at telling people about it. Where's Green? Wouldn't you like to know, weather boy.

I've ultimately decided that Green is a cave fanatic. She just loves cave spelunking that much. She's not even looking for shit to sell, she just likes caves.

She was the only one that actually completed her pokedex....okay no. I'm sure Red and Blue did eventually, but Green was the first, as always. Red was under pressure from being champion to do anything and Blue was in his feelings, so leave it to Green to buckle down and get the damn pokedex done ( also to alleviate the loneliness of her two friends drifting apart and kinda leaving her behind even more)

Honestly it is just traveling now. Going into caves, battling strong trainers if she wants to, scheming all the way. I like the idea of her becoming world champion but I don't know if that's possible in my au yet. We'll see.

She grew taller out of spite btw. She was the shortest of the trio and she didn't like that, especially bc Blue would tease her for it, so she willed herself to be taller. Not even Mewtwo knows if the Chosen powers were at play here.

Speaking of Mewtwo, yeah she got it. She's the Chosen of it. Mewtwo shouldn't be able to Choose being a man made pokemon, but it did so out of spite and honestly? Good for them.

Sometimes I think Green genuinely forgets she's a Chosen. Like actually. The only thing that actively reminds herself that she is one is that she has powers now and she can live when Mewtwo fucking yeets her into the sky ( this is a fun bonding activity).

During the johto arc, Green was in Johto, staying with Bill's family. Why? I haven't fully fleshed it out, but I think it's a matter of her just not wanting to be at home anymore. That's the baseline of it. She's probably helping Bill with some stuff in return. Green during this time was angsty and angry, so her powers ( or what was unlocked at the time) would tend to flare up when she's pissed. Though, given that she's still very new to bring Chosen, they are unreliable as ever. So. More on her plate, I guess.

Green and cooking is an interesting case. I don't think she's bad. Maybe she's pretty good. But uh. The girl lives off protein shakes and granola bars. If not that: meat( sorry Red). So it's probably less of that "Green can't cook" bc she can, and more of " Green can cook but is choosing not too".

I haven't talked about the whole " Green being forgotten from the narrative despite accomplishing so much" here and that's only bc I want to take a closer look at that on my own time. I still think it's true but I want to like it. Map it out better, if that makes sense.

Green going to Kalos with Blue is for two reasons: Shopping ( Blue and Green are The Shopping Duo) and Caves. Oh and mega evolution so three. Unlike Blue though, she ain't studying shit ( okay she does a little) and spends most of her time doing Arceus' knows what. I think it would be funny if both Green and Blue gained several exes in their time in Kalos but that has yet to be determined.

Green and Blue are actually siblings in my au, so if you're wondering why I'm grouping them together so much, that's why.

not a character but what made u keep red and green instead of making ocs like the other games?

Heya!

I thought that Red and by extension Green were both a little too canon in the games compared to the other protags( well. Red mostly, but you get what I'm saying hopefully), so it kinda felt off replacing them with ocs. They were the first, you know? I wanted to at least represent that before going full oc mode. I'm glad I did, cause Green ended up becoming my little blorbo. Before, I hadn't thought of her much, a background to Red and Green ( cause Reguri), but man when I realized I could use that for her own arc, she immediately became a fav. Like at this point I feel bad cause I feel like Red and Blue are not underdeveloped bc of it hgvhvgvgvcg. Green also , in general, deserves a lot more love in the fandom,so yeah, keeping her canon was a great choice I think.

Buuuuut yeah. I felt like Red and Green are iconic to me in a way that it's hard to replace them fully with ocs. I mean. I could. But I didn't want to. It's fun thinking about how they interact with my ocs, though knowing me, I haven't thought about it much lol.

Also I think it's hilarious as to how Green gets the helix fossil instead of Red. Red was just about to get the helix fossil but then Green just swoops in grabs the fossil and runs. She's screaming " ya snooze ya lose, slowpoke! better luck next tiiiiiiiiiiiiime ;P" and Red is standing there like:

Red is....confused, to put it lightly. Mew basically pushed him out of his house and into the nearby forest to do.... something. The legendary was sitting on his head, doing nothing. Not giving him instructions or any hints just. Nothing. Red just stares at the lush greenery around him.

....He wonders if Blue is up right now.

"Mew," Mew calls, tapping Red's head to gain his attention. He looks up to the mythical, who's still on his head. Mew waves their little paw up and down. Somehow, Red gets the message, slowly raising a hand up to his face. He's still confused, Mew still not explaining anything. Mew then points forward. Red looks in the direction they're pointing; it's just a forest. Red looks back up at Mew in confusion. Is there.... something they want him to do?

"Mew!" Mew waves its small paw again, more so gesturing to Red's raised hand. Red wiggles his fingers as a sign of understanding, why Mew nods at. Then Mew once again points towards the forest. And Red mimics them, pointing towards the forest as well.

"Mew"

Red doesn't realize he's floating until he notices he seems to be getting taller. When he looked down, he realized he wasn't growing, rather floating. This effectively freaked him out.

"?!" Red scrambles above the ground, spinning around before grabbing onto Mew. How??? Is he floating???? He didn't feel Mew use a move on him, so how?????

He looks up at Mew for any answers, but the legendary simply shrugs before patting Red's head.

Whatever was lifting him up wasn't anymore, and he fell back on the ground. Fortunately, he wasn't super above ground, but it still hurts.

Exhausted, Red decided to just lay on his back, close his eyes, and enjoy the serenity of the forest around him.

"Mew"

Red opens eyes immediately, almost dreading what they'll have him do next. But Mew only pats Red on the forehead.

" We'll work on it", a voice echoes in his head. Red looks at Mew in utter confusion, but the being just circles around and lays on his chest, falling asleep.

Huh?????

"Pika?"

Laying his head down, Red sees Pikachu above him, looking as confused as he is. Did. Did he leave Pikachu behind to come here?

Red gives his trusted partner an apologetic look, scratching the side of Pikachu's, making the mouse pur.

A tiredness waves over Red, and as he brings Pikachu to lay by him. The forest around them is quiet, but not too quiet. The way of the leaves sway as the wind blows softly. He can hear some pokemon go about their day, scattering about. The smell of the earth is nice and relaxing, putting his mind at ease. When was the last time he was out like this? Life has gotten so busy recently,it's hard to tell.

Red closes his eyes, enjoying the moment a little longer before he's lulled to sleep.

Ironically, Kohaku has one of the more stealthy Chosen powers- turning invisible. There's probably a few other things she can do, given that her Chosen is a psychic type ( I think some of the psychic type Choosers tend to overlap in terms of powers). I say it's ironic cause like. It's Kohaku. One of the most accident prone people out there. Don't get me wrong, she can stealth and stealth good, but given her track record, it's kinda funny.

Honestly, between her and Red( who I think can also turn invisible), it's interesting to compare the two. Red turning invisible fits him. He's quiet, prefers his own solitude, and it's a good way to escape social situations he doesn't want to be in (....if he's actually stealthy about it). Kohaku isn't really that. She's talkative, loves being in the company of others, and being the daughter of her region's main professor kinda trained her to be ready for particular social settings. Actually becoming a professor amplified that. Though, despite all that, I think invisibility can work well for Kohaku too. Maybe it's her way of being more vulnerable? Showcasing her insecurities that she doesn't show often? Ironic, I know, but it still fits.

Red vs The Guy Who People Think Red Is ( Jin)

Okay back into the Kanto stuff: I'm wondering how often I want the gym leaders to help out the main protags here. Like I have the idea of brock accompanying Red and Green to Mt. Moon, since he's planning on collecting some fossils there. One on end: we get more gym leader characterization. On the other end: I fear that having Brock tag along for that section of the game might diminish the efforts of Red and Green. There's a way to work around this, of course, but I still worry.

Hmmm. Maybe it's a good thing Brock is on Mt. Moon with them. Cause Red and Green wouldn't be clocked in as an immediate threat. Team Rocket is more concerned about being found out by a gym leader than two surprisingly strong kids. It won't be until later where they go " wait, these two kids pop up every time we try something, maybe we should keep an eye on them". Hmmm, interesting, interesting thought there.

Also I think it would be interesting if Miguel ( the pokemaniac that's near the end of mt. Moon) is possibly involved here. With team rocket I mean. Not a part of them but was probably paid to get the fossils for them.

Also! My plan for Mt. Moon is still underdeveloped, but I plan on Green starting a Clefairy rebellion while Red does the standard stuff you would do in game. Mt. Moon is probably where Green gets her love for cave spelunking lol.

Attempt number ??? Of trying to actually write down a detailed timeline of events for my arcs, and a small funny that I'm considering is Green's fear of bugs. Particularly when she was younger. I was writing down how long events would take and I thought " Green wants to stay in Viridian an extra day bc she's scared of bugs and doesn't want to go in Viridian Forest bc she knows it's filled with bugs" <- she wouldn't admit this out loud lol, Red points it out. Really, there isn't any point to stay in viridian city- the gyms closed, there would be pokemon to catch/ a league to ogle at, but ya know. They could always rest up in Pewter. After they went through Viridian Forest. But Red is a good friend, and despite his teasing, he stays with Green in Viridian for a day before heading into The Forest.

I think it would be a cute, Red looking out for Green like that. It would also give Blue time to get ahead lol.

.....neither Red or Green anticipated getting lost. So Viridian Forest takes a few days- but hey! Red gets his Pikachu and a cute lil caterpie. Green.....if suffering lmao.

The last asks about Red got me thinking about how he compares visually to Kenji and Jin ( my au's Gold and Brendan respectively)

Kenji ( he/him) is the one with the yellow background, and Jin (they/them) is the one with the green background. Jin is usually wearing pants, but none of them were green soooo. Yeah.

I honestly find their designs in contrast to each other very amusing. They all have black hair ( Red's here is dyed brown), which for some reason I find very amusing. But their eyes are so different from each other. I'm still debating on exactly what eye color I want red to have, but I think just so he doesn't look like Jin, it's probably either brown or black. Either way, his eyes are dark, and when with the black hair it really does make him look mysterious in a way. Kenji's eyes by contrast is a bright gold/yellow, something much more striking and vibrant. Jin I feel is the most interesting to compare. Bc the red eyes + the black hair makes them look more like what people probably think Red looks like. Or more bluntly, they look like pixiv red with long hair. I dunno, I find that interesting. Maybe i can do something with that, especially bc the kanto arc and Hoenn arc take place the same year. Given how long Jin had their title, maybe they're the "Red that succeeded" or something. I dunno. It's still very interesting to see them side by side.

You know with Red and Green being Chosen by literally Mew and Mewtwo respectively, it's kinda hard to pin down a "gimmick" for them. Like what is their main power. The reality is that they can honestly do a lot bc of their legendary psychic typing. Their psychics. Barriers, energy beams, flight, energy morphing etc etc, they can do that.

I think Red has the ability to mimic other abilities, due to mew being said to have the DNA of all pokemon. Not sure if that exactly fits him per say, but like. It's something.

Green is harder to pin down cause it's fucking Mewtwo. I guess Mewtwo has the ability to petrify someone, like in the anime but I really don't know if that's something I would give to Green. The most I can think of is green just making her power go to her hands and punch the shit out of people. Cause she would.

I guess it's a matter of balance, right? I always say Green is this slugger, who can and will go for a beat down if needed. But at her core, she's very very smart. Very perceptive, likes playing with people. It's trying to balance her own recklessness with her cheeky side, you know?

For Red it's kinda a matter of trying to see what fits him best? Or maybe trying to give him a struggle( though Red getting powers is probably already a struggle for him. I don't think he's upset or anything just. Very confused). I don't exactly know just yet. He's Chosen of Mew. There's a lot I could do.

I have not mentioned Blue cause I know what to do with him and his Legendary ( Melmetal). Metal bender fr fr. Surprisingly very flexible.

( random conversation I thought of, not sure if it's something that I would consider canon. Might be ooc for characters)

Blue: Aaaaand that's everything that happened today! Which.... isn't a lot but whatever.

Red: ....

Blue: .....( Leans back) Sooooooooo. How's things for you? You haven't, ah, really said much since you came back down Mt. Silver...( Tries to perk up a bit,forcing a smile) You're usually such a chatter box, you know?! Gotta be something interesting for ya today, right?

Red: .....

Blue: ........( Grimaces slightly, still trying to keep smiling. His voices lowers, as if the whole world would hear if he goes any louder) Come on Red, you- throw me a bone here, something-

Red: ( his eyebrows furrow slightly) .....

Blue: ( immediately back pedals) O-only if you wanna, I don't - you don't - ( he sighs, exasperated) Green? H-have you at least talked to Green?

Red: ( he flinches at that. The punch to his face still fresh in his mind. It was a year ago. And even so-) .....

Blue: ( he should back off. He really should-) Your mom? Have you at least talked to your mom?

Red: ( that causes him to outright glare at his....friend? Rival? Babysitter? What are they now? He doesn't know. But he doesn't like this conversation.) . . . .

Blue: R-right! Right, of course you- ( he takes in a breath. Why does he feel so sweaty.) Sorry. Sorry, that was just- Let's just forget I said anything, yeah?

Red: ( his glare softens, looking at his....whatever they are to each other, with concern. He doesn't know if he'll get used to Blue Oak apologizing for anything ever. He raises his hand to sign-)

Blue: ( he raises his hand before Red does, eyes pleading) Let's just forget I said anything, okay? ( Please )

Red: ..... ( He lowers his hand. He hates the look blue is giving him. He blames himself for it, as always) ( Okay )

Okay took a shower, thought about it, here's some ideas for Red's mom ( Legendverse version)

Pallet town born and raised. Was childhood friends with Prof. Oaks son.

Grew up in a..... conservative? Family. In the sense of like. "boys will be boys" but not really expecting their daughter to do much + the kinda. Quiet part of expecting her to find a husband and become a housewife. Like they weren't. Opposed to her doing anything else ( Agatha was from pallet town from pokemas lore and thus I imagine she was an inspiration to all the young girls back then EDIT: Agatha isn't from pallet town I only checked recently. She isn't lol. I still think she was an inspiration to many, but sadly no, she wasn't from pallet town. I feel like pallet town would be a lot different if she was lol. ), but also like. Ya know. "boys will be boys, and girls will be what's expected of them". They were strict or stern in this idea, but it was just. Expected. Am I making sense?????? I dunno.

Anyway, Red's mom kinda just. Never really questioned it growing up bc she never really thought about what she wanted to do. She kinda felt like she couldn't do much? And was kinda fine just. Standing in the background I guess. She didn't get frustrated with this until she got older.

In getting frustrated with herself, she tried to branch out, do different jobs, get into different things but ...she genuinely did not know what she wanted to do. Genuinely. Nothing was bad per say, but nothing was calling to her either. She wanted to be this free bird, doing whatever, being like Miss Agatha but. Nothing.

At some point she, somehow, landed herself an office job in Siph Co. And she was good at it. Very good at it. Which was honestly a surprise to her.

And even so she felt. Stuck. Her job was good, very good, and it pays so well. She even got herself an "office boyfriend". But was she at a point where she felt free and secure in herself? Eeeeeeeeeeh.

Like her main problem was that she was never brave enough to really go All In. She would dip her toes in something before quickly going out and trying something else. Silph Co was arguably the longest she's been invested in something and it still never really made her feel accomplished. Even with her little office boyfriend!

She was honestly considering just going back to Pallet Town, find a husband and live a life that was pretty much expected from her from the jump....

Until she met a fisherman ( I really like the idea of Red's dad being a fisherman lmao)

I don't know how their love story pans out. I just know Red's dad was someone Red's mom really needed at the time ( she was too afraid and a tad bit envious to talk to Oak's son. He had his life figured out as is, and she didn't really want to bother him with her uncertainty). I think he was very gentle and patient with her, as she was to him, and would softly encourage her to go a little deeper in what she wanted to try. And that it was okay if she wasn't feeling said thing.

I think her arc is like. Acknowledging both her frustration in wanting to do more with herself but also acknowledging that there's some things that she just doesn't vibe with and shouldn't force herself to vibe with bc she wants to be this grandiose person. Like being secure and comfortable with herself is ultimately the main goal, and Red's dad really helped her with that.

And that's not to diminish her little adventures! She's very proud of herself for getting out of her comfort zone even if it wouldn't last long. She has a tattoo!! Never in her life did she think she'd get one,but she does! And she actually got into fishing :)

As for her like. Becoming a stay at home mom as of FRLG/ RBGY.....I don't think she's upset. If this happened to her younger self then yeah, she would have been so disappointed in herself, but now she sees it as her being happier and more secure than she ever was before. So I think, to her, things turned out alright. She looks back in her past with pride I think.

This is getting long but I want to touch upon one more thing: this woman knows death and grief. She knows it well. My hc is that both of Blue's parents died at some point, and chances are the same for her husband. And even before all that, I imagine her folks kicking the bucket somewhere in her early adult hood. And then, years later, her son runs away without a word and she's left to wonder if he's even alive. It's a truly scary thought. So yes, she knows grief. But she tries so hard to be optimistic. Hope for a better tomorrow. It can be very hard, but she does try.

Aaaaaand that's it. Shower thoughts are crazy man.
