It might seem strange that a director from Taiwan borrows a typically Western topos like imprisonment as the only way to cast out pride and its inveterate demons. Anyway, Lee Hsing picture shows a certain consistency in terms of dramaturgical principles, even though I would have liked it to have less focus on childhood psychological damages.

What if we could recycle the energy remaining in discarded batteries? Scientists now know how

Alkaline and zinc-carbon batteries are common in many self-powered devices. However, once a battery is discharged, it is no longer usable and is discarded. According to estimates, nearly 15 billion batteries are produced and sold worldwide annually. Most of these end up in landfills and some are salvaged for valuable metals. However, although these batteries are not usable, there is usually a small amount of energy left in them. In fact, about half of them contain as much as 50% energy.

Recently, a group of researchers from Taiwan investigated the feasibility of recovering this energy from single-use (or primary) discarded batteries. Led by Professor Chien-Hsing Lee from NCKU, Taiwan, the group focused its research efforts on this front to promote a circular economy for discarded batteries.

The researchers, in their study, proposed a new method called "self-adaptive pulse discharge" (SAPD) that can be used to determine the optimal values of two key parameters—pulse frequency and duty cycle—that determine the discharge current from the discarded batteries. A high discharge current, simply put, amounts to a high amount of recovered energy.

DANGER ZONE: love this series!

Hi! Some time since my latest post aside for reblog. Love to watch Asian Series, mostly from Japan but sometimes from other Countries as well, so here I am with a recommendation drama (series). It's an original iQIYI series that completely blow my mind in a good way, because of the change of courses and plot twist with lot of suspense and thriller. Its plot is well planed, the acting is good, the characters are well developed and would say is one of the best series from 2021, if not the best (along with Tokyo MER), at least of the things I swatched this year.

I'm talking about "DANGER ZONE" (as you may noticed for the tittle of my entry). It's a 24 episodes Taiwan policial drama (I insist: drama=series) of suspense. mistery, action and drama. It has two seasons, "DANGER ZONE: The Dark Night" and "DANGER ZONE 2: The Silver Lining", of 12 episodes each and they are connected to each other.

Thanks to this drama, I started watching more works of Vic Chou (aka Vic Zhou), aside from MARS, that already watched it several years ago ^_^.

I watched it with EN subs (not my main Language but like to watch my series with English subs) and some subs are better than others depending or the Language, must say, but totally enjoyable if you are looking for a non-typical policial series, no doubt.

i saw your post about sending an ask about the atla oc week, so I’m telling you about my oc (hope you dont mind, im just so excited)

My oc‘s name is Mizuki and she is Izumi and Bumi II’s second child and only daughter. I took her name from a fic written by Musicplayer11 but other than that, I made her whole character by myself (and my two mutuals Salma and Lavi)

She is 21 years old, a master chi-blocker and acrobat (grandma Ty Lee trained her well, she was a Yuyan Archer for 3 years before discharging, and can fight hsing basically anything. She was a non-bender like Bumi before Harmonic Convergance

She also has ADHD, likes to wear traditional clothes, loves her father very very much and would die for Jinora

I’m actually writing a whole fic about her on my ao3 where she becomes an airbender and joins the krew in season 3 and 4
