I too think Sevika is hot asf, but we must not let this blind us! Her development is impeccable!

I don't see enough people talking about how her loyalty to Zaun is shown in different ways and in who she follows. She obviously felt Vander wasn't doing all he could for the undercity, so her allegiance switched. That's not because her loyalty isn't strong, I think it is because who she puts her loyalty to is based on who's best for the undercity as a whole. And for a long time, that was Silco, and in this time of loyalty, she found guidance in silco, which is why I think she ahd a hard time after his passing.

Obviously, she has been loyal to someone she thinks was capable of rallying Zaun fir the better, and now that he's gone, she's stuck with his bitch ass kid. And I think in those moments between silcos death and agreeing to work with Jinx, she had to remember what her allegiance is. She seemed to get so fixed on Silco for so long that she almost forgot she was for Zaun and the people of the undercity. And that means working with Jinx.

And obviously, that lead to her whole arc of learning toa accept Jinx. Without Silco there, she was forced to confront that she does have more in common with Jinx than cavelice.

Caitlyn is great example of something we see a lot on a small scale, especially recently, put back on the big scale screen. That is- the privileged will resort to fascism, brutality, and revenge to moment they are forced to feel like the oppressed and/or political discomfort.

Ambessa knew this and took advantage of it. Seeing Caitlyn, a fairly privileged daughter of a council member, who is now grieving, in a state where she pushed the people that care about her away, and those that remain are at a distance at the moment, she put a crown on her head and said 'your problems lie in zaun.'

And so, caitlyn went militia fascist dictator surprisingly quick. But in reality, it isn't that shocking. She is a great example of the conditional ally, she was all for the undercity when I women she had feelings for from zaun was her closest connection. Now that is pushed away, the zaunites are forcing her into a sense of mild political discomfort, and she is mad.

I think excusing her actions with 'she is grieving with no one there to comfort her' is a little under informed and tone deaf. Ambessa is to blame, yes, but so is Cait. She's a cop. She's from topside. The perfect recipe that if you emotionally ruin her, she will quickly turn to fascist ruling if it means she doesn't have to feel a sliver of what zaunites feel.

Now- I love Caitlyn. She is one of my favourite characters and I'm glad her arc is this thought out and deep. So I really hate when one criticizes Caits actions saying they are unjustified (which they are. That's the point, yes, but we are still allowed to talk about it) and then immediately gets dogpiled saying 'nooo you can't say that, she went through bla bla bla'. Also it boils my blood to see people go "yall want compex female characters but you can't even handle Caitlyn" like yes, we can. We love caits character because of how thought out, deep, and complex it is. She is a complex female character, that does not mean her actions are justified, they are incredibly well written, though.

The way Riot and Fortiche managed to somehow up the animation quality is insane. It's hard to talk about the visual aspect and ignore the storytelling, because of how inherently entertained they are, but I just wanna rant.

The scene work is just *chefs kiss* excellent. I thought the framing of fights was good before, they reframed everything this season. Every punch had a shockwave, every step felt like a stomp in the best fucking way. The use of sets as well? Perfection. Everything in the setting felt like it was put to use, even things there just to be filling and look 'pretty' held a story and when interacted with, fit perfectly.

The way they are owning up to the music more this season is also refreshing and skemthing I didn't know I needed. I almost thought I was in a music video for a scene that happened in I think episode 2. But it brought it back perfect and grounded even with the song still playing.

I could continue on- the lighting and its use in emotional moments, the transitions between scenes, expressions, clothing, character posture, whatever. All I need to say is- this show has upped the game and standard for animated media. We thought it rewrote the books before, it's rewriting its own course now. To see something with such a unique, aimed, and creative vision is frankly, refreshing.
