"I'm good Lauren, how are you?"
"Great, yeah - a couple of tracks."
"Yeah, yeah, 20 years now. yeah, yeah."
"It's just Chris, really. This is the way he works; you don't get any warning, there's no preamble, he just calls you out of the blue and he - and so he called me out of the blue, I didn't know what it was, and he said: "I'm making a movie about Oppenheimer and I'd like you to play Oppenheimer." You get a couple of those calls, if you're lucky, in your career and so you, you have to sit down and you get a bit overwhelmed, and it's a tremendous and pleasant shock - and then you just start working. Because there's; it was a huge part and he's such a huge, iconic, you know, divisive character, and we all live - whether we like it or not - in, in Oppenheimer's world because of what happened in 45. So yeah; I had six months to, to work on it, before we started shooting."
"Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, he's complete - like he's so ambiguous, so enigmatic, so complex as you say, and - but they're to me, always the most intriguing characters to, to play - yes, and, and morally, very, very hard to pin down, you know?"
"Yes. Yeah, yeah. Yes. Yeah. Well like I said I did an awful lot of reading and there is quite a bit of archival footage of him out there which I, which I was studying as well. And then you use the script and I leaned very closely on Chris obviously, because he's written it. But I, I did for this character, go a bit from the outside in as well, kind of on a parallel track as the, as the reading, so you know, studying his walk and his voice and I had to get this very particular physique for him because he had this very iconic silhouette you know; with the, with the hat and the pipe and - it was we -weird actually. Chris sent me a few David Bowie pictures as references for him, you know - yes, and even that Young Americans era; you know that like inc - yeah, incredibly skinny and that amazing tailoring, and so yeah, we spent a lot of time on that, and that helps because when you're a certain shape, it changes how you walk and, you know, how the clothes fit, and so there, there was manifold research."
"I mean it, it always should be fun really, because that's all we do - is put on voices and get - do dress-up really, but it, it can get very serious when you think about the themes that we're sort of wrestling with here, you know? They're the biggest themes of all you know; life and death, war, politics, science - so you try to have some sort of levity on set in between the big, the big stuff. And, you know, the cast is just astonishing in this film; and luckily Emily Blunt who plays my wife, she's a good pal, we worked together before, and she's brilliant at, at keeping it light as well. So yeah, you have fun, but you are aware of, of the kind of seriousness of what you're portraying."
"Great, yeah. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Amazing you know and that - I don't wanna give too much of the movie away because it's not out yet but - but there's a very distinct kind of competitive dy - dynamic between Strauss and Oppenheimer which kind of informs the whole, the whole, the whole film. And, you know, working opposite Downey I mean, he's just extraordinary; he's, he's - he's electrifying to act opposite and he's electrifying in the movie; and he's the most present, available, generous, brilliantly unpredictable actor you could, you could work with. All of them, I mean, every day you'd check the call sheet and say: "Oh my God, look, like Ken Branagh's in tomorrow, and Gary Oldman's in tomorrow", so for me, it's just a dream. That's - that's; what any actor would want; to work with people of that level."
"So I'm keeping it Irish. So I'm gonna play some Lisa O'Neill, who is this - you guys know Lisa, she's, she's an extraordinary singer-songwriter, and we got her to do a version of "All the Tired Horses" on, on Peaky; it was the last piece of music ever played on Peaky. And she just gave this stunning version of the song, and this is from her new album, or the most recent album, and it's called "Old Note" - and it's very beautiful, very emotional."
"Isn't it? It gets me every time. I believe that's her little niece, yeah; she recorded it on her phone, yeah."
"Well music is like a constant companion to me, I'm - I'm obsessed with it. You know, you know, it's what I wanted to do originally, it didn't wor - it didn't work out. And I know I get great - and it just keeps me feeling calm and, or excited or whatever; you know the way mu - music can change your, change your mood. And - and that's why I loved being on this place because you could; it was like sharing music with people and getting the response from it; and I've discovered some of the best music from you guys over the years so it's nice to come on and, you know, do the same."
"I'd love to, I'd love to. Yeah, a little bit."
"Unbelievable, yeah, yeah. Yes, I saw it at the end. Ludwig Göransson did the score - amazing score. Chris is always very experimental I think with, with his music, and things like if you think back to, to Dunkirk and the ticking clock which just propelled the whole movie. And also sound design as you say, knowing when music is important and when it's not important or the power of silence. Exactly, yeah, yeah. So he's just - he's kind of the perfect director Chris. Like, I've been saying this recently because, you know, he's an extraordinary writer, he's an amazing actor director, he, he presents his films like no-one else in the world, in this huge IMAX 70mm format; and then he's amazing with music, so he has every, every facet you'd want in a director."
"Yeah. Yeah. So this is weird; this is my second time playing a physicist so I must have like resting physicist face or something. But I really genuinely don't, you know - it's not my role or job or duty to kind of figure out the science because, you're, you're never going to; there's a tiny percentage of people on the planet that can act - they dedicate their, their lives to it. But for me, what was interesting is to see what that knowledge does to your perspective on the world and that was my kind of my job with Oppenheimer. And, and it was very, very interesting to explore that."
"Yeah. Yes, yeah. Yes, and he was quite naive in many ways. And you know I think; I do believe that he thought aft - you know, that, that this weapon would be the weapon to end all wars and that, that there would be a world governance that would control you know nuclear pro - proliferation; and now we know where we are today."
"Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. A little bit. You know, but if you, you, you can't sort of think about it too much because then it; you lose a sort of freedom or a sort of presence in the scene. You know, and there was a lot of that in this movie, like, even though all this stuff around the Trinity test - you know we were aware of what we were portraying and how that's changed the world and, and it changed history. It, we've, you know, we all live in, in that age, so you can't let it weigh on you too heavily. We didn't talk about the specifics of it too much, you're more focusing on the truth of the scene between the two actors."
"Pleasure. Love to, love to. Thanks guys."

📽️ Can You Keep a Secret? (2019)
I really thought I would like this movie, but I honestly didn’t care for it that much. The dialogue was horrible and elementary, and the female main character was extremely annoying and juvenile. I know that the quirky, naive main character is a thing, but this movie took it too far. Not the naïveté as much, but the strangeness of the FMC. It was at the point that it wasn’t endearing; it was just strange. The movie wasn’t very funny, and it got less funny as it went on. As a whole, it was disappointing.
Sex/nudity: 4/10 (male butt shown, sexual talk and innuendoes, sexual jokes, implied sex, mild sex scenes)
Language: 6/10 (6 f-words, other strong language included)
Violence: 0/10 (none that I recall)
Overall rating: 5/10

Disney 100 ✨🏰🤍
Wishing you all a happy new year and to Disney, a belated 100th anniversary!
To celebrate Disney’s century milestone, I created an illustration based on 100 of Disney’s most known and loved characters from their respective movies/ series. I’ve included all the ones I’ve known and feel are generally popular but I’m sorry if your personal favourites aren’t here.
This has been in the works for almost four months now but due to many delays I couldn’t finish it on time. So here it finally is!
Out of all these range characters, the hardest to draw was the Cars. I’m not used to drawing cars so I’m not generally good at them (yet). Some of these may look simple and easy to draw but trust me, they’re not 😂.
With drawing the characters and the background, I like to be accurate with the respective style it’s drawn/ animated in and the colours too. But also I wanted to also simplify the 3D ones and add a little depth using shadow to the 2D ones. For example some of these films would have a desaturated grainy effect to it and I wanted to keep that. But finally after months of working on it, it’s completed and I’m happy with it! ✨.
Please, please do check it out on Instagram too:
instagram
If this link doesn't work, my username is @/artofzafrasarfraz - it's where I put all my drawings up on. Please do share on stories and comment. Much appreciated 🥹🫶🏼🤍

The Stolen Identity of Joseph Newton Chandler III
October 28, 2024
Robert Ivan Nichols, who went by the alias Joseph Newton Chandler III was born on September 12, 1926 in New Albany, Indiana.
On July 23, 2002, Robert Ivan Nichols committed suicide by a gunshot wound to the head in Eastlake, Ohio at the age of 75. After his death, investigators tried to locate his family and friends but to no avail. It was later found that Robert had been using the name Joseph Newton Chandler III for decades as a false identity, and that the real Joseph was an 8 year old boy who died in a car crash in 1945.
The real Joseph Newton Chandler III was born on March 11, 1937 in Buffalo, New York. On December 21, 1945, Joseph, his father Joseph Newton Chandler Jr., and his mother, Billie, were killed instantly in a car accident close by to Sherman, Texas.
The Chandler family had been on their way to see the boy's grandmother in Weatherford, Texas for the holidays. Their car had been in a head on collision with a truck driven by a man named L.C. Black of De Queen, Arkansas who left the scene uninjured.
Robert Nicholas joined the US Navy in World War II and served as a firefighter on the USS Aaron Ward which ended up being bombed by the Japanese in May 1945 off Okinawa. Robert was wounded in the back and hip and awarded the Purple Heart. He burned his uniforms after the war.
Robert married a woman named Laverne Kort in 1947. They had three sons and Robert worked as a draftsman for an electric company. In 1964, he left his wife and family and filed for divorce.
He moved to Dearborn, Michigan, where he told his parents he worked in the automobile industry. By March 1965, he wrote to his parents that he was now living in Richmond, California, while also sending a letter to his son Phil from Napa, California.
After this, Robert's family never heard from him again and later reported in missing in the same year. The family hired detectives to try to find Robert in both California and Indiana, but were unable to find any trace of him or anyone who knew him in those areas.
It is noted that Robert used his real name to work until around 1976.
Robert stole Joseph's identity in September 1978 in Rapid City, South Dakota, after applying for a social security card. He then moved to Cleveland, and worked a number of jobs. Robert had eventually become laid off in 1997.
It was also said that he claimed to have a sister named Mary Wilson, who lived in Columbus, Ohio, however the address he provided for her was made up and did not exist there. It was revealed later that Robert had used that address that he was born at in New Albany.
It was reported that Robert living under Joseph's identity, was a hermit who only left his house to work and eat. His co-workers reported that he rarely spoke to anyone and had no friends.
He also engaged in strange behaviour such as listening to white noise for hours, and one time drove 700 miles to an L.L. Bean store in Maine, only to leave when he got there because there was no spots available to park.
In 1992, he dressed up as a gangster and went to a Halloween party however the people there claimed he never spoke to anyone the entire night.
In 1989, Robert showed up to a local hospital with lacerations on his penis, claiming he got them from a vacuum. He also made homemade electronic devices a lot. He had a computer he used sometimes, and investigators found searches such as "Nazism" and "plastic explosives."
Robert's body was discovered in his apartment on July 30, 2002, about a week after he died. He shot himself in the mouth with a revolver he had purchased months before. On his calendar he had marked down the days until his suicide, and before doing it had closed his blinds and turned off his air conditioning. He had recently been diagnosed with colon cancer which may have been part or his reasoning for his death.
He had $82,000 in his bank account and had listed co-workers as his emergency contacts. Police could not find any of his relatives and that is what led them to realize he was living under a false name and identity. Authorities could not use fingerprints to assist in identification but were able to get a DNA sample from a hospital Robert had visited in 2000.
So why had Robert been living under the false identity of Joseph Newton Chandler III who had died almost 60 years prior and what was his real name?
Authorities speculated that Robert was a fugitive of some kind, either on the run after committing violent crimes or hiding from something. No theories have ever been confirmed.
Internet sleuths suggest he may have been the unidentified Zodiac killer as he resembled police sketches and was known to live in California. Some believed he was a fugitive named Steven Campbell, who was wanted for attempted murder. Authorities also thought he may have been a German soldier or Nazi official from World War II who had fled to the US to escape prosecution for war crimes.
Robert's name was not identified until 2018, 16 years after he died. In 2014, the case was reopened, and using DNA extracted from a tissue sample from his hospital visit, a CODIS profile was created, but no hits were found.
In 2016, there was a match found that indicated his possible surname was either Nicholas or Nichols. In 2018, the DNA Doe Project identified him as Robert Ivan Nichols. A CODIS match with Phil Nichols, Robert's son, confirmed his identification.
The reason for why Robert Nicholas stole the identity of an 8 year old boy who died in 1945, and lived under the identity since 1978 remains a mystery.

As well as being 50% of Darkhouse Family with Earl Jeffers, he's released music under various monikers on labels such as Metalheadz, International Anthem, Fat City, Earnest Endeavours, Group BraCil and on Rough Trade with another regular collaborator, Gruff Rhys. Other collabs have included Charlotte Church, Om'Mas Keith, DJ Spinna and First Word label-mate Tyler Daley (Children of Zeus). His DJ portfolio includes sets for BBC 6 Music, NTS, Rinse FM, Solid Steel, Boxout FM (India), The Jazz Cafe, Fabric and Boiler Room, while previous support has come from Lauren Laverne, Tom Ravenscroft, Huw Stephens, Lefto, Rob Da Bank, Huey Morgan, Jon1st, Om Unit, Kid Fonque, Mr Thing and many more. His album 'Shaboo' was named "the best album of its kind since J Dilla's 'Donuts'" by Piccadilly Records. Joining him throughout this project, we have the pleasure of welcoming the phenomenal talents of highly-acclaimed harpist Amanda Whiting to the First Word label. A virtuoso in her field, this classically trained musician quickly established herself as an essential player in the UK jazz scene, carving her unique sound following the paths forged by Ashby and Coltrane. The talents of Deborah Jordan are also featured on a couple of the album's tracks. Deborah is a stalwart in the UK soul and jazz scene in her own right, working over the years with artists like 4Hero, Bugz In The Attic, Ty, Jneiro Jarel, K15, Robert Mitchell and Kaidi Tatham (someone who's collaborated with all the players on this release at some point). 'Beyond The Midnight Sun' is a 7-track affair comprised of delectable spiritual jazz fused with hip hop beats, psychedelic electronics and a touch of soul.

Closed the nomination form! I made a list with all nominations by category! I'll accept suggestions of stuff to move around (change a character from minor to one of the other lists, but not the other way around cause the minor list is long enough). The Main Character list is a bit awkward with 18 characters, but I'm not really willing to move any away from it even if people might disagree? Unless I see a very strong argument.
the only nominations that didn't get in were the artifacts, since people voted for those to have their own poll later on!
So here's the 3 lists I have under the cut!

RIP CINDY WILLIAMS
1947 - 2023
Cindy Williams was born in the Van Nuys California on August 22, 1947. Her family moved to Dallas, Texas when she was a year old, and returned to Los Angeles when she was ten. She had one sibling, a sister named Carol Ann. Williams wrote and acted during childhood at a church and later acted at Birmingham High School, graduating in 1965. She attended Los Angeles City College where she majored in theater .
Three years after playing small roles in film and television, Williams landed the role of Laurie in American Graffiti (1973) which she repeated in the 1979 sequel. She was nominated for a BAFTA Award for the original film.
That same year, Williams shared Ringmaster duties with Lucille Ball and Telly Savalas on “Circus of the Stars 2″. Ringmaster Williams introduces her future co-star Penny Marshall, who works with a baby elephant named Tika. Williams also does a stunt with Michael York that ends with her being shot out of a canon.
Williams was first introduced to Penny Marshall by Marshall’s brother Garry, who had written 11 episodes of “The Lucy Show” from 1964 to 1966.
Garry cast them on “Happy Days” as Fonzie’s dates on a November 1975 episode of the popular series. She was reunited with her American Grafitti co-star Ron Howard. A spin-off followed in 1976.
“Laverne & Shirley” ran six seasons, although Williams departed the show after season five and 158 epsisodes.
Laverne and Shirley’s high jinks were reminiscent of those of Lucy Ricardo and Ethel Mertz on “I Love Lucy.” Williams demonstrated a flair for portraying the awkwardness of youth in broad physical comedy. Both series featured redheads and both took place in the 1950s.
Although Laverne and Shirley were evocative of Lucy and Ethel, sometimes the homage was a bit more specific.
“Laverne & Shirley” - “The Diner” (May 6, 1980) inspired by “I Love Lucy” - “The Diner” (April 26, 1954)
No other female comedy team in the history of television has been so often compared to Lucy and Ethel as Laverne and Shirley. Add in their pals Lenny and Squiggy, you’ve got a reasonable facsimile of the Ricardos and Mertzes, especially when the plots pit men against the women. In this episode, which has the same exact title as its inspiration, Lenny has inherited a diner that he gives over to the girls to run.
Just as Ethel was confined to the kitchen, so is Laverne. She even does a bit of business with a pop-up toaster, something that Lucille Ball often did. Both sets of ladies indulge in “diner lingo” and get overwhelmed by their new business ventures.
"Laverne and Shirley” was filmed at Stage 20 on the Paramount lot, which was formerly Desilu. The show was known for fearless physical comedy not seen since the days of “I Love Lucy.”
“Lucy was a physical comedienne, and she would be all over the stage, so Desi Arnaz, being the genius he was, put all of their cameras on these dollies. So [on Laverne & Shirley] there are three cameras, you’ve got the stage, as though you are watching a play, and you have the cameras moving with us on dollies. Usually, [sitcom] cameras are set in place and stagnant, but our cameras were like Lucille Ball’s cameras.” ~ Cindy Williams, 2001

so Im trying to watch this Babylonia movie and it's a fucking unwatchable mess. There is a big party on a hill where they have to take an elephant that I assume is hired to fuck Margot Robey. There are literally one thousand people at this party trying their best to imitate the Rocky Horror Picture Show. They are out in the middle of nowhere but there are only 2 cars in the parking lot. How did all these hundreds of gyrating extras get there? There are loud trumpets and really, really bad flashy Baz Lurman editing. This is worse than the CanCan movie. The elephant doesn't fuck Margot but she is totally down for it. Omg. The lady from Designing Women is in this. She is the one who got Robert in trouble at his bartenders gig at the Gypsy on NW 21st when he asked if "you hollywood people always tip as shitty as her" it was actually her gopher assistant he asked but in my mind he totally asked Designing Woman lady. Now I'm watching Laverne and Shirley reruns cuz Babylonia is unwatchable. Zero stars cuz no one ever fucked the elephant. Lame.

Scrubs x Kingdom Hearts
Sora is a medical intern, learning the ropes of medicine along with his friends & co workers; Kairi & Riku. He is navigating the ups and downs of working in a hospital, while escaping to the fantasies in his head.
Cast Sora - John "JD" Dorian Kairi - Elliot Reid Riku - Chris Turk Namine - Carla Espinoza Terra - Dr. Perry Cox Axel - The Janitor Master Xehanort - Dr. Bob Kelso Aqua - Jordan Sullivan Ventus - Ted Buckland Roxas - The Todd & other misc. characters Xion - Laverne Roberts & other misc. characters
My thoughts & opinions on Scrubs; I love Scrubs for it's humor, while at the same time showing real life examples of friendship, romance, & working in a hospital. Scrubs is actually the most medically accurate TV show out there, despite it's crazy humor. Why I decided to do a Kingdom Hearts version? No specific reason really, other than it's funny & I thought it would be funny to set them in this environment. Tbh, I do love JD & Elliot, they are one of my favorite TV couples, however, I can't stand the way their relationship was handled throughout the series. It's really infuriating. I might make some changes because it's gonna piss me off writing Sora & Kairi like JD & Elliot.
Episode One: My First Day Episode Two: My Best Friend's Mistake Episode Three: My Drug Buddy Episode Four: My Bed Banter & Beyond

'The Oscar and Bafta-nominated Cillian Murphy, a hot contender to win best actor awards for his portrayal of Robert Oppenheimer in Christopher Nolan’s film about the creator of the atom bomb, has revealed he would still happily return to the role of Peaky Blinders’s Thomas Shelby, on the small or the big screen, if the chance came his way.
“If there is more story to tell, and if Stephen Knight delivers a script like I know he can, then I will be there,” Murphy said. “I mean, if we want to watch 50-year-old Tommy Shelby, I will be there. Let’s do it.”
Talking to Lauren Laverne about the impact of success on his life on BBC Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs this weekend, the charismatic performer from Cork also explained his approach to playing Oppenheimer. He realised, he said, the portrayal “would be ultimately a synthesis of the script, all the stuff that I was absorbing of him, and then an element of yourself in it. And then you put it all in the mix and that becomes Chris’s version and my version of Oppenheimer.”
Murphy also confesses his reluctance to appear on the red carpet at public events, before his prominent role in the awards season. “I have struggled in the past,” he said. “But you can choose to enjoy it. You can make that alteration in your brain. Really, you would be an eejit not to enjoy it. Just go with it.”
Professionally, Murphy tells Laverne, his nerves are worse on a film set than on stage, where he started: “The distinction being that when you do a play, you retain control, in so far as, if it is a terrible night, you know tomorrow you can fix it. But in film, there is no fixing it.” He also finds the silence on a set before he delivers a line is intimidating, he added.
Murphy, 47, also discusses his early hopes of a career in music, something that almost came to pass when his band was offered a five-record deal.
But the parents of some of the band members objected and so Murphy moved on to acting, securing a role in Enda Walsh’s play Disco Pigs, before landing a career-altering part in Ken Loach’s 2006 Cannes Palme d’Or-winning film The Wind That Shakes the Barley. “It changed the way I approached work profoundly,” he said of Loach’s improvisational technique.
But the part that made him a household name, Shelby in Knight’s epic television series about Birmingham gangsters, did not fall into his lap, Murphy confessed: “I wasn’t the obvious choice physically. I don’t know if I convinced Stephen in the meeting, but apparently afterwards I sent him a text that said: ‘Remember, I am an actor.’ And I do believe that. I do think it is our duty as actors to transform to whatever the part demands.”'
