As a longtime Supernatural fan who has watched every season several times and was psychically damaged by that last season, I'm here to inform everyone and no one that I will Now be watching Jenson Ackles' fanfic TV show, the Winchester, if only because I have been promised it retcons some things I hate, is both a prequel AND somehow a sequel (thanks Supernatural time travel for always making sense 🙄), and also two of the main characters are people of color, and one of them is Latino and I'm VERY excited about that, 10/10 way to get me to watch something, points to Jensen.

What's the fic you've written with the angstiest ending? Ooh, it's gotta be this imagine in SPN fandom: "Sam crosses the line." In which he's in love with Dean's girlfriend.

(Sequel to "You are Dean's one exception.")

What the fic you've written with the happiest ending? Well, most of my stories have happy endings. But probably Never Say Goodbye (Dean W. x Reader). It's a soulmate AU, so very rom-com and fluffy, despite all the drama they went through.

Though I could also say the same of the last story in the Midnight Espresso-verse: In Bad Weather.

Do you write crossovers? No, I don't. I've enjoyed reading a few though.

Have you ever received hate on a fic? Yes, unfortunately lol. It's inevitable for as long as I've been writing though.

Do you write smut? If so, what kind? Oh yes lol. I'm a romantic though, so it's often a mix of fluff, straight up romance, occasionally dashed with angst and/or hurt/comfort.

Have you ever had a fic stolen? Not to my knowledge. (I hope not!)

Have you ever had a fic translated? Nope, but I've received solicitations lol.

Have you ever co-written a fic before? Yeah, when I was a teenager just starting out writing, I used to write with one of my best friends growing up. (We're still good friends to this day.)

What's your all-time favorite ship? That's pretty much impossible. 🤣 It depends on the fandom! Nowadays I tend to write for OCs or reader inserts though.

What's a WIP that you want to finish but don't think you ever will? Ooof, nothing recent. But I finally finished And So It Goes, which took me 3 years for some reason. 🙃

Though I do have both a Jason Teague x OC series and a Smallville Clark Kent x OC series outlined that realistically, I probably won't get to. 💔

What are your writing strengths? I've been told I'm good at dialogue and keeping canon characters in character, which is always amazing to hear! I try my best.

What are your writing weaknesses? Action scenes and smut scenes are my biggest writing challenges, though I've been told I do a decent job at them. I know I tend to use adverbs a lot lol (I'm trying to curb that).

What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? So I try to minimize use of this, but, I've gotten critiqued (putting it mildly) on this before for two reasons. Admittedly, I've had to revise myself in certain use cases, but also, there are slang words and phrases in certain Spanish cultures that wouldn't make sense to another Hispanic/Latino culture that doesn't use the word/phrase. So sometimes, it's not that it's wrong grammatically, but that it's slang.

What was the first fandom you wrote for? Oh jeezus, probably Chronicles of Narnia fandom when I was like, 10 and brand new to writing. 😂

What's a fandom/ship you haven't written for yet but want to? Ooh a tough one. I feel like there are so many! I do have a story I had outline years ago now for Steve Rogers/Captain America back in the MCU fandom (which I've written in before). But that fandom is a bit intimidating. 😂

What's your favorite fic you've written? Also really tough for me. I think it's a tie between two series:

Break Me Down (Soldier Boy x Reader)

Midnight Espresso (Dean W. x Plus-Sized Latina!Reader)

One totally took me by surprise by how much I enjoyed writing the series and the characters (and figuring out how to write Soldier Boy/Ben 😂).

While the other allowed me to be a little more indulgent with myself, writing from my personal experience and my culture.

The responses on both stories have been amazing and incredibly heartwarming. 💗

Author's Note: I wrote this a few years ago, never intending to really show this to anyone, but then I saw this Joel Miller Fanfic and the request that it spawned from, and I couldn't help but think maybe I could share this story on tumblr.

This is an original character story, created long before I became a part of the Pedro character fandom, but the main lead does have Latino/Hispanic heritage by coincidence.

The idea for this formed from wanting an mpreg story that wasn't treated like a joke or too over the top. I wanted to write something someone who isn't really into mpreg might enjoy anyway, because that's not all this is about. It's about friendship and family (and some cruel mad scientists).

I'm a very sentimental person. What drew me to mpreg was seeing a softer side to a male character (specifically one born male) - that's all. Plus it makes for some humorous freaking out because bio males aren't supposed to fill this role, blah, blah, blah. I really enjoy making the boys weirded out by the flipped role situation (hopefully their reactions feel realistic - this is why this is an original character fic instead of a fanfic).

Cade And Kamilah aren't really based on any characters, but Noah has a little hint of Dean Winchester (SPN) in him. Cool guy, even cooler leather jacket. ;)

// While I'm on a rant regarding spn-related TV & lgbtq representation, allow me to say a few words about Carlos of the Winchesters... If you ask me, he's a terrible character and horrible representation of bisexuality, homosexuality, and queerness in general. First off, they say he's bisexual, letting it be known early on in the show that he's had male and female flames in the past and yet they are always quick to trump his bi-ness with only gayness instead.

Secondly, he acts like a flagrant homo stereotype i.e. rolling his eyes frequently, scoffing/sighing, swaying when he walks, generally being bitchy, obsessing over his outfits/hair/appearance/etc., giving the "shoulder", as well as annoying many other characters both deliberately and non-deliberately.

Also, given the time period the show is set in, I think it's slightly unrealistic for him to be so out about his sexuality/identity. Yes, there was the free love movement still going on then, but at the same time it still wasn't common for someone to flaunt that kind of thing (he's shown doing so even to John's mother, who, at the time, he had never met).

No offense meant to fans of Carlos, and there are good things about his character, of course, but I expected a lot better of a show from 2022, especially considering the fact that the execs had approx. 17 years to learn from the origin's (Supernatural) large lgbtq fanbase.

I know that those of us who fall into both queer and fan categories— especially those of us who are men— would prefer to see a complicated character (think Dean Winchester) for our representative. Frankly, we've been seeing queer characters of the Carlos kind for DECADES. Simply put, he is a queer character, more likely than not written by a straight person to fill a politically correct quota but severely missing the mark. One need look no further for an example than the scene in episode 9, showing Carlos weaponizing his curls through a soak in holy water...

It didn't even prove THAT useful in the fight, so it was obviously done for laughs at the gays' expense.

Or maybe the Latinos' expense.

Either way, I think he's a depressing character.

I noticed recently that you’ve been doing an AMAZING job with the Spanish so far In the fic. Idk if you use a translator or it’s just from experience around Latinos but I’m glad you didn’t fall down this pipeline (would that be the right word? Yk what I mean). A lot of the time when I see other authors include Spanish it’s so stiff and a lot of the time it doesn’t fit the context.

I’m glad that you’ve clearly put in the effort into either A) doing research, or B) reaching out for some sort of help. A lot of people don’t do that so thank you for not butchering my language

Not to mention that before Jared said anything, Erik Kripke (who was in the set with the supossed 'no phones allowed' rule) tweeted that Jared was too busy with Walker to participate in the prequel. Was Jared's response emotional? Yes but I don't see it as a bad thing, it really looked like an attempt to take over the SPN brand and other people were putting words on his mouth already about it.

At the end, many fans didn't care about the drama between actors and disliked like prequel because it was a not a good show and the publicity around it was mediocre. I remember rolling my eyes when reading the casting call for the part of an "stoner easy going latino".

The only legacy that show has is the ongoing lawsuit of the guy who got electrocuted when the director insisted on filming right after a thunderstorm.

So when it was annonced that a Supernatural spin-off would be released and that Jensen and his wife would be the producers, Jared made a very public tweet complaning about how he wasn't involved in the project. It looked like he didn't even know about it.

instead of whatever the fuck the winchester surprise is, dean remembers his mother’s tamales. he remembers helping her make them in the kitchen, the masa soft and rich between his fingers as he mixed together the broth and the oil y la maseca. he remembers the husks and how sometimes they would split if he wasn’t careful and become too small. he remembers the comforting smell of corn and mole and three different kinds of salsas. and if he squeezes his eyes shut and tries hard enough, he can almost feel the warm steam rise to his face as maria lifts him up with one arm and sits him on her hip so he can lift the lid off the pot.

but he hasn’t had that in a long time. youd think after decades of traveling across the country chasing monsters and stopping at shitty diners and truck stops he’d have encountered that same taste of home, but all they have is shitty tex mex with too much cream and too much cheese and what the fuck is that queso stuff supposed to be anyway and weird taco seasoning that leaves a bad taste in his mouth. it never feels like the real thing
