🪡 Stitches
— “Patching each other up after a tough mission”
Word count: 836
Through bated breaths and with the scent of bloodied sweat permeating in the air, Bullfrog, with his tattered clothes and blacked eye stumbles over to where you lay. Beaten and looking as rough as he does, the two of you share a knowing glance of reassurance before letting out tiny laughters as he joins to sit beside you, together in each other’s company to distract from the injuries caused by Alex Taylor’s three mercenaries.
“That sure was a tough one!”
Bullfrog croaks as he rests a head on your shoulder. You smile, eyes rolling to the ceiling as you process what you two had done.
“You know… I was worried for you…”
“Worried? Oh, Mon Ami, fret not! Afterall, I am an assassin, am I not?”
“I know that! But… there is still the possibility that you can die in one of these missions, Bullfrog…”
“...”
“...”
“I know, Mon Ami… But I guess that’s why you’re here!”
“Pfft! Oh, so I can save your ass every time you’re close to dying?”
The two of you burst out laughing, wincing a little in the process, until fading back to silence with the lack of the hum from the antenna present.
“Hmm… pretty quiet now that we got the antenna destroyed…”
“Yeah…”
“...We should probably get patched up,” you say as you sit up and pull out a small first aid kit from your tactical gear, “here, gimme your arm, it’s going to sting for a bit…”
As he leans his arm close to you, you dab a bit of disinfectant into the wounds. He hisses in pain and bites his tongue.
“Sorry,” you say, feeling bad for him as you start wrapping gauze around the wounds, “I did warn you.”
“O-oui… that you did, Mon Ami,” he chuckles shakily as he pats his newly wrapped arm. He motions for the bottle of disinfectant which you hand over to him.
“Now it is your turn! Hand please!”
You sigh and roll your eyes playfully, letting him tend to your hand as he douses the alcoholic solution over the scratches and burn marks from that one merc with the laser headgear.
“That woman… didn’t she call you disgusting before?”
“S-she did? I hardly remember!”
“Well I do… I’m glad she’s dead… How could she say that?”
As Bullfrog starts wrapping your wounds up with gauze, he looks down forlornly.
“That’s just how some humans are towards hybrids, I guess…”
“That’s a load of bullshit.”
“Eh, but what can you do, other than to fight back?”
You reach for a clean rag as you gingerly wipe away the blood dripping from his forehead.
“It must’ve been frustrating…”
“... It is…”
“... Well… I don’t think you’re disgusting.”
Bullfrog smiles, fiddling with his hands as a warm feeling takes over his body, “hmm, merci, Mon Ami…”
As you cleaned off the blood you glanced at the rag which is now thoroughly bloodsoaked. Grimacing at how much blood he has bled, you take out the needle and thread as you ready yourself to sew up his gash.
“I mean it, too. Seeing you back there taking on three mercenaries that are twice your size was a very impressive feat!”
“Heh, well as an assassin, I’ve taken on a couple of opponents that are even three times my size!”
As the Bullfrog delved into sharing his tales from the Brotherhood, you were almost done with stitching him back up whilst absorbing half of what he’s saying.
“And… done!”
Biting off the thread with your teeth, you gently patted his head and took notice of how he tended to your wounds. Marveling at the care and a nice little make-shift bow he tied on the gauze to secure it.
“Merci! Wow, great job, Mon Ami!”
“I could say the same to you, partner, this little bow is a nice touch!”
Bullfrog blushes and laughs sheepishly as he scratches his head.
“Oh, you think so? It was just a small habit I picked up when I was in the Brotherhood!”
“Is that so? Didn’t know a merciless killing machine can still carry such adorable habits~”
“A-are you flirting with me? You’re flirting with me, right?
He laughs nervously as he feels himself turning red and becoming flustered. You giggle softly as you give a playful shrug.
“Why don’t we discuss this in a place that isn’t as dank and riddled with corpses?”
You say as you wiped a sweat running down your cheek and started making your way out, “I’ll even treat you to something! How’s about juice? You seem like someone who likes juice, tropical or orange?”
As your footsteps faded further down the dark corridor, Bullfrog stood there in awe as he watched you walk away. His heart now beating just as fast as it did during the fight but now with the warm fuzzy embrace of something… wholesome…
Whispering to himself, as he watches you from afar, waving for him to catch up, “Oh mon dieu, je crois que je suis amoureux de toi…”
Fin.

fuck it, i'm cross postin the pifo oc monday posts here. but under a cut because i can't shut up. if you want to know stupid details about my ocs click here
here's the original post, ty to penbrydd for putting this together every week!
1. Were there any educators [x] bonded with or really liked? Tell us about them.
mat: matsuo took a CAD class in college with a professor who was very much on the cool young person end of the professor spectrum. there was a lot of chill-out time where students were just working on designs or hanging out while waiting for the laser cutter to finish, etc, and he got to talk to this professor way more casually than he had with any other educators before. they had a lot of shared interests, and it was nice to have someone who seemed to excited to see him. but like halfway through the semester he started feeling weird about it and switched to doing more of his work outside of the classroom. he's gonna look back at this after a couple of months of being out and wanna slap himself; like, you fuckin idiot you had a crush on him
kaz: first is his senior year hs english teacher. he didn't talk to her about all the shit he had going on but she could tell he was in a bad place, and she did a lot to encourage him to actually go to college and hype him up about the work he was doing. in college his archaeology 101 professor took a shine to him right away, and she ended up being his mentor throughout his time there, hooked him up with connections to digs looking for hands, had him be her TA for a couple of years, etc. unfortunately didn't make up for his shit grades in other courses, or the other various points of failure that've led him to working 2 shitty unrelated jobs
2. Does [x] usually see the same doctor (or other healthcare professional), or do they just see whoever's available, when they have a problem?
mat: he sees the same doctor, it's just easier to schedule that way. mat does his annual exams and gets all his shots like a good boy. he does lie about how much weed he smokes though
kaz: kaz literally only ever sees a doctor for emergencies/urgent care shit or std tests. he doesn't care who he sees, it's whoever is cheapest without insurance. he doesn't have a gp or do annuals or anything bc he feels fine and they're just gonna tell him to stop drinking, which isn't happening
3. Does [x] drink coffee? If so, how do they take it?
mat: yep, usually black. he likes dark strong coffee. someone should buy him an espresso machine. sometimes he gets a cappuccino or a latte if he's like hanging out with someone at a coffee shop, to have smth more substantial
kaz: yeah, he kind of likes shitty watered down drip coffee best, tbh
4. Has [x] had any memorable serious injuries?
mat: nope
kaz: broke his arm once as a dumb teen. don't drink and ride dirt bikes. lucky it was only his arm!
5. What's one time [x] has helped someone against their better judgement?
mat: just about any time he's had a group project for school or work, lol. mat wants shit to just be done, so he'll do extra work for no reward, even if he knows that's stupid and he should just speak up. even if he's doing the work for ppl he hates that he knows would never do shit for him.
kaz: one time he let a girl he was hooking up with stay at his and jaimie's place when she got kicked out by her roommates, even though he knew she was volatile and too into him. i mean, she was homeless, wtf, was he gonna not let her stay? lucky for him the only valuable item he owned was a shitty thinkpad, and a lot of his shirts look cooler with tears and burn marks. jaimie is still mad about this - she stole her fucking antique jewelry box!! he didn't even really like her!!!
6. Has [x] ever witnessed something that fundamentally changed them?
mat: 100% had a week or two where he was miserably obsessing over actual gore videos in middle school. this probably made him worse. but also he was outside in the golden hour at a music festival in the woods on shrooms once, and the beauty of the light through the leaves probably made enough of an impact to fix that a little bit
kaz: kaz has seen so much awful shit, it would suck for everyone to list it all out. it does mostly steel his resolve to be good to other people and to never touch harder drugs tho so i guess good changes idk
7. What song reminds you of [x]?
you all know i go wild making playlists for these guys, there are so many songs... so i'll go with one recent as-of-yet-not-included-in-a-public-playlist song for each of them (that are both also a little bit about each other)
mat: leilani - the night
kaz: shame - human, for a minute

your custom cassettes are really really cool! ive been thinking about making custom cassettes for a bit, would you be willing to share what kind of paper you used for the label stickers and j-cards? also where do you get blank cassettes from? ive been looking at cassettecomeback but i was wondering if there was a better option.
Thanks a lot! They're really fun to make hehe
So full disclosure: I run a merch shop for my webcomic and I make most of my stuff myself in my studio. I've been doing this for the better part of ten years and over that time I've accumulated quite a bit of specialized, expensive equipment like the photo printer and cutting machine I use to make my cassette ephemera. THAT SAID mixtapes don't necessarily need all that!! Unless you're running a bootleg business on etsy or somethin I don't think you and your friends gotta run out and spend a ton of money to make these (beyond tracking down a deck and a player, obviously).
Unfortunately most of these items are found on Amazon because I'm a professional artist trying to Live, but if that's something you'd rather avoid buying through I'm listing the brick and mortar places I can find them when I need to for whatever reason!
My j-cards are just the 8x10 glossy photo paper from Pen & Gear, it's usually less than ten bucks a pack at walmart lmao. I use it with an inkjet photo printer! There are plenty of laser printer options out there though, which is probably the type non-artists have access to. Honestly I think the look of black ink on colored copy paper is super cool for handmade tapes, especially between friends.
My sticker paper was a bitch to find and I'm not sure if it would be useful without my specific equipment, but it's this glossy adhesive photo paper from some rando company called LDProducts. Literally just called "Sticker Photo Paper" pf. It's more expensive but I get it in stacks of a hundred because I print tons of stickers for my shop. Again, glossy adhesive paper might not be useful without a big boy printer but MATTE sticker paper is everywhere, that's also pretty common to find at walmart or at the very least at an office supply store; you can print on it or even get out some markers (not sure i'd suggest anything besides ink tho, I'd be worried it could come off and damage the player). I design the labels in clip studio and then load them into cricut so it's super easy to get the right shape every time, but if you're Determined you could get out a measuring tape and an xacto knife and get similar results.
I've only found my tapes on amazon unfortunately, and it's been a while since I bought any because I sort of inherited a bunch of sealed ones when my dad died and i'm still going through them lol. Almost all my custom ones are 90 minute Sony High Fidelity, last I checked you could order them in packs of five or ten but I'm not sure what the prices are like rn. If you REALLY want to get fancy with colored shells/custom lengths i did find this cool site you can order from, Duplication.ca, but the shipping is kinda rough. One of these days I wanna make some cassettes for my webcomic and I'll drop some money on some pretty ones then, but for now the Sonys are treating me fine so I haven't dug too deep.
I hope something in here is useful! I'm always happy to share what I know but again, I'm very fortunate to have access to quite a bit of stuff most people don't and I try to be up front about it alskdjf. Cassettes are best when they're sorta janky and handmade tho, it's kind of the whole point, and if they're just for you or someone you care about then marking them with a sharpie and masking tape is just as cool in my opinion. probably cooler. everybody should put music on physical media and trade it i think.

Robotnik Army Writeup
Boy, just when you thought it couldn’t get any geekier!
Yeah, I had this thought on my mind for a while, and finally decided to just get it over with. As it says, this is basically detailed writeup of Robotnik’s army for a Sonic setting that takes bits and pieces of everything... which basically means “SatAM/Archie With Extra Steps”. It really serves no higher purpose beyond amusement, and since I’m never going to do anything with any of this I figured I’d share.
Be forewarned this was all pretty spur of the moment and sloppy.
Anyway... on with the show. Hope ya’ll get something out of this.
Forces of the Robotnik Empire
Tumblr media
From the time of its founding to the time of its present, the machine legions of the Robotnik Empire have terrorized and dominated the planet in the name of its founder Doctor Robotnik. The armies of Robotropolis come in a dizzying array of shapes and sizes, and it is the largest collective of military robots to have ever been assembled in all the history of Mobius. Only the drone divisions of GUN come close, and even that is paltry compared to the sheer number and variety of robotic killing machines created and deployed by the Robotnik Empire.
The armies of Robotnik are near numberless. Standard units are churned out on assembly lines by automated factories, ready to fight and kill in Robotnik’s name upon activation. No matter how many are destroyed, there will always be more in the waiting to take its place. Mindless, fearless and unquestioningly loyal, the greatest danger of Robotnik’s machines isn’t their armaments of strength- it is the fact that there is absolutely nothing that they will not do when ordered, and once they start nothing short of destruction will halt them. There is no room for empathy, pity or doubt. There is only Robotnik and his will.
Assembled here is a small dossier of the various lines that comprise Robotropolis’ war machine. Over the years the variety and scope of Robotnik’s armies have expanded and adapted to reflect the ever-changing face of war, from the conquest of the empire’s early years to the Freedom Fighter insurgencies that continue to plague it, as well as renewed aggression from the United Federation and GUN. Even as the fortunes and size of his empire waxes and wanes, one thing is certain- Robotnik’s imagination is as endless as it is depraved, and there will never be an end to the new and terrible machines he creates to blight the world he despises so thoroughly.
Tumblr media
SWATbots
The SWATbot line is a venerable one that dates back to the Great War, when then-Warlord Julian Kintobor created the first SWATBots (then known as “Peace Bots”) to replenish the depleted ranks of the Kingdom of Acorn’s military and workforce. The first SWATbots were deployed purely in a support capacity, before eventually supplanting Mobian soldiers entirely to become the bulk of the Kingdom of Acorn’s military. These robotic soldiers would be crucial in turning the tide against the seemingly unstoppable military machine of Overland, delivering victory for the Kingdom and her allies in the Great War. That same army would then be used by Julian, now styling himself as Ivo Robotnik, to conquer the Kingdom of Acorn from within and then enable Robotnik’s first wave of conquest afterward.
The SWATBot is the workhorse of the Robotnik Empire. In all corners of the empire they can be found, in every facility and factory. The Mark-1 SWATBot model forms the backbone of Robotnik’s military, serving as the standard rank-and-file infantry. Standard SWATBots are designed as something of a jack of all trades, having moderate strength in multiple areas while not truly excelling at any of them. SWATbots are at their most dangerous when in groups, but even a lone SWATbot can be a lethal adversary, for while they represent the most standard of Robotnik’s soldiers they are still stronger and more durable than most organics and come equipped with built-in lasers and armor. There’s a reason that SWATbots were able to bring the once unstoppable armies of the Overland to its knees, and fighting SWATBots without weapons or special abilities is often a death sentence.
Since the time of its initial development the SWATbot line has expanded considerably. There now exist multiple, specialized variations of the original SWATbot chassis, and the Mark-1 model shows no signs of going anywhere anytime soon. They are a constant within the empire, and whatever challenges arise? There is no doubt there will be a new, improved SWATbot model to meet it.
Tumblr media
Troopers
The skull-faced Troopers were developed in the early years of the Robotnik Empire, being created specifically for the various “Pacification Campaigns” that arose after the empire had secured its grip over the former Kingdom of Acorn and Overland. With these territories now firmly in Robotnik’s iron grasp, the nascent tyrant turned his attention outward to the other nations of Mobius, seeking to expand the scope of the “Pax Robotnika”. It swiftly became apparrent to Robotnik that waging a war of conquest and expansion was going to be a different matter entirely from the relatively defensive position fought in the Great War. A pressing need for specialized first strike units arose, and thus was born the Trooper line.
Troopers are the specialized assault force of the Robotnik Empire, designed to hit hard and fast in the first wave of attacks, shattering enemy formations and fortifications with overwhelming firepower before allowing the SWATBots to swarm in and deliver the killing blow. In addition to serving as the empire’s shock troops, Troopers also see capacity as occupiers of newly conquered territories and as overseers in labor camps and prisons. While SWATBots are programmed to be emotionless and mindless soldiers, Troopers by contrast are programmed to exhibit personalities... and those personalities are uniformly that of a gleefully sadistic bully.
Whether it is out in the field of battle or patrolling the streets of a conquered city, Troopers will heap endless amounts of abuse and cruelty on anyone they can find. This is done as a form of psychological warfare in conjunction with their skull-like visages... a SWATBot will simply kill you, but a Trooper may very well shoot off a limb and then laugh about it.
Troopers are usually found in the outer territories of the Robotnik Empire, either working as enforcers in the cities where organics are permitted to live or patrolling the borders of the empire making sure nobody can escape. Ruthless taskmasters and programmed for cruelty, all who deal with the Troopers quickly learn to despise them.
Tumblr media
Combots
Combots are among the elite units of the Robotnik Empire, designed to be bigger, stronger and most importantly smarter than SWATBot or Trooper units. Combots, as their names would indicate, are designed as the Robotnik Empire’s own elite commandos. The Combots were developed in the later years of the Robotnik Empire, in response to the rising successes of the various Freedom Fighter groups that formed in opposition to Robotnik. The Combot chassis was derived from both the SWATbot and Trooper chassis, combining the best traits of both before being further modified to suit Robotnik’s need for elite soldiers.
Combots possess advanced “Dummy” AI that gives them considerable tactical insight and adaptability without granting them the capacity for ‘true’ free will. Designed for deep deployment in enemy territory, Combots typically operate as specialized units and usually only see mass deployment as security for the empire’s most important installations. Physically imposing and with a versatile number of built-in weapons, the Combots most dangerous tool is a built invisibility cloak that obscures them from view. While their heavy metallic frames don’t do much for their stealth, being able to turn invisible still grants them a tremendous, deadly advantage, especially when their tactical AI gives them the insight to compensate for said heavy metal frames.
The Combot stealth cloak is an upgraded version of the stealth cloaks used by the Newtralizer Badnik models, which was first utilized in a prototype stealth assault robot deployed in the Jungle Zone. While the prototype was destroyed by Sonic and Tails, its performance was deemed acceptable enough that it would go on to be utilized for the future Combot line.
The Combots do possess one notable flaw- while they are not truly sentient, they none the less have developed superior view of themselves compared to ‘inferior, outdated’ SWATbot and Trooper units. This arrogance often leads Combots to treat other units as being more disposable, and while dissention in the ranks is impossible, it does lead to unacceptable losses and wastefulness.
Tumblr media
P.A.W.N.s
The P.A.W.N. (Power Assault Warfare and Nullification) line was created to serve as Robotnik’s super-heavy units, comparable to bipedal tanks. These towering monstrosities are among the toughest and most dangerous machines to be fielded within the Robotnik Empire’s armies. PAWNS are subdivided into three specialized models- the Gun Pawn, the Shield Pawn, and the Bomb Pawn, with a fourth model known as the Guardian Pawn being an upgrade of the Gun Pawn. Where PAWNS go the earth shakes, quite literally.
Gun Pawns are the most commonly encountered pawns, serving as mobile heavy artillery units. They are armed with a staggering three heavy plasma cannons in addition to missile launchers. Very few things can stand up to them or their weapons, and they attack with overwhelming force until nothing is left standing.
Shield Pawns by contrast exist as living barriers, absorbing heavy fire against their reinforced frames before getting close and demolishing targets with their heavy fists. Few sights are more terrifying than that of a Shield Pawn lumbering forward impassively, refusing to fall even under sustained heavy fire. Disturbingly, they are the most likely to be encountered within Robotropolis itself, often camouflaged as literal walls within the city.
Finally, there are the Bomb Pawns. Bomb Pawns are anti-fortification specialists, enormous grenade launchers on legs designed to waltz across the battlefield, blowing apart armored vehicles and heavy fortifications alike. Even worse they contain a high powered thermal explosive payload in their bodies, and with their thick armor they are more than capable of shrugging off enemy fire long enough to deliver said payload.
Guardian Pawns are the rarest of the PAWN series. They are improved, elite variants of the Gun Pawns, with upgraded weaponry and built in force shields. As their name would indicate, Guardian Pawns are used almost exlusively in a defensive capacity, guarding the most important facilities in the Robotnik Empire, even defending Citadel Robotnik itself. Rarely they are sent out to attack due to the difficulty in making them, but their success rate is nothing to sneeze at. Rumor has it that entire armies have been destroyed by Guardian Pawns.
Tumblr media
Stealthbots
The terror of the skies. Stealthbots are the ultimate air combat drones, and the undisputed masters of the Robotnik Empire’s airspace. Much like the groundbound Combots, Stealthbots are not only armed to the teeth but also in possession of similarly advanced Dummy AI that grants them tactical supremacy in the air. And that’s without getting into the stealth systems that grant them their name. Stealthbots are infamous for seemingly appearing out of thin air before diving in, destroying targets and then vanishing away from sight. Even more horrifyingly, Stealthbots have been known to engage in a degree of psychological warfare- one favorite tactic is to periodically strafe the same target at a specific time again and again, letting stress slowly build-up before going in for the kill.
Besides the standard Stealthbot units, there are also the aptly name “Death Pods”. Death Pods are upgraded Stealthbots, designed to be smaller, more maneuverable and equipped with even more firepower. While Stealthbots proper are designed for air-to-air combat and to act as bombers, Death Pods are an attempt to bridge the gap and create the ultimate air-to-ground combat drone, a machine that is just as capable of eliminating ground based targets as it is the air. So far the Death Pods have seen limited deployment, but thier successes paint a grim picture for the enemies of the Robotnik Empire.
Tumblr media
Badniks
Badniks rank along with Swatbots as the most numerous and widespread of Robotnik’s forces, and a potent symbol of his need to subjugate and twist all aspects of life on Mobius towards his own demented ends. Officially known as B.A.D.s (Biologically Augmented Drones), Badniks are as much an assault against the environment as they are against Mobius’ people. Badniks unlike other machines within the empire are powered by Mobinis who serve as both organic batteries and as a kind of wetware CPU all in once. Whereas SWATBots represent standardized military machines, Badniks are far more specialized by comparison, and are designed to operate for long periods of time without supervision in the many wilderness areas of Mobius.
Technically speaking the Badniks are the oldest line of Robotnik’s military machines, predating even the SWATbots. The Badniks were first devised before the Great War, back when Robotnik was still known as Dr. Julian Kintobor. Using misappropriated funds and resources, Julian labored in secret researching the potential of organic lifeforms to serve as a power source of machines. His way of making endangered species ‘worth protecting’, in his own words. Once that barrier was broken, Julian swiftly realized the military applications and with the aid of his assistant (and future chief scientist) Dr. Grimer he swiftly built the first Badnik prototypes. When Julian later became the Kingdom of Acorn’s Warlord, he built his Badnik army in secret even as he was built his SWATBot army in public, and when the day of the Coup arrived great swarms of Badniks surged forth to assist their SWATbot brethern in conquering the Kingdom of Acorn.
Usually modeled after Mobius’ wildlife, Badniks serve as a reflection of Robotnik’s disdain of the natural world and his need to declare that there is nothing in it that he can’t ‘improve’ upon. Fittingly, Badniks tend to act like an invasive species, deployed into the wild areas of Mobius to capture more Mobinis to be utilized as battery fodder before raiding settlements and attacking military installations. Badniks require comparatively little upkeep and can be stationed for many months without need of repairs. They are created to strip the world of respite from Robotnik’s tyranny and to choke the life out of the wilderness, making sure nobody can escape his grasp. Worse than that, Badniks are also used to attack enemy crops and farmlands, despoiling lands to deny them use by Robotnik’s enemies. They form an integral part of the artifical ‘eco system’ of the empire’s cities, hiding and lurking in shadows like ambush predators waiting for prey driven to them by SWATbots and troopers.
The sheer variety of Badniks is nothing short of astounding. Even more powerful Badnik models known as Prime Badniks (AKA “Super Badniks”) act as field commanders for the regular models, which are collecively known as the Badnik Horde.

Eggrobos
Modeled after the Eggman himself, Eggrobos are a special class of machine that serve as the administrators and officer corps of the Robotnik Empire. The Eggrobo line first emerged during the Angel Island Assault. In the aftermath of the infamous Death Egg crash landing upon Angel Island, Robotnik swiftly realized he would need more than mere techbots if he was going to get the mighty Death Egg up and running fast enough for his needs. The Eggrobos were conceived of as machines that would serve the duel purpose of security for the Death Egg as well as high intelligence technicians needed to conduct repairs at the rate Robotnik needed.
While the Death Egg’s final destruction would occur despite the best efforts of the Eggrobos and Robotnik himself, Robotnik none the less saw the potential of the series. Eggrobos are designed more for intelligence than they are pure combat, though they are far from defenseless. Armed with heavy plasma cannons and high powered jet backs, they are surprisingly dangerous for “brain bots”. The Eggrobos have since gone on to become an all purpose command class of machine, ranking behind Prime Badniks but otherwise serving as Robotnik’s proxies within the empire. Eggrobos are subsequently subdivided by programming- warfare, research, intelligence and even medically inclined models exist.
Their bulky bodies designed to house high processing powered AI and powerful communication tools, the robotic soldiers of the empire become notably more dangerous when Eggrobos are present, especially ones programmed for military operations.

E-Series
Building upon the technologies that went into the Eggrobos, the E (”Eliminator”) series were created to serve as the elite assassins and infiltrators. The E-Series was first devised when the Robotnik Empire, weakened by repeated Freedom Fighter insurgencies, found it beset from the outside by the re-invigorated forces of GUN. Building upon Great War era information provided by surviving remnants of its sister nation of Overland, the United Federation re-structured GUN’s tactics and technologies with an eye towards taking the fight to Robotnik after a decade slow retreat in the face of Robotropolis’ encroachment into the Federation. Devising a new war doctrine built upon picemeal tactics and a robot army of their own to challenge Robotnik’s, the United Federation took advantage of Robotnik’s weakness to chip away at his borders and liberate captured territories.
Faced with an existential threat now capable of fighting on par with him in addition to the domestic troubles brought on by the Freedom Fighters, Robotnik swiftly realized he would need machines capable of getting into the heart of enemy operations and then cutting that heart out. Thus was born the E-Series, lethally intelligent and relentless assassins building on the best of the Badnik technology. First deployed in the Station Square Front, Robotnik has repeatedly upgraded the initial E-100 series and even created variant models. While the original E-100s were powerful, there was a disturbing trend towards rampancy in their AI- units Gamma, Sigma and Omega all eventually turned against their core programming. Since then Robotnik has tried to find a proper balance in the AI to retain the lethal potential of the E-100s while ensuring zero chance of future betrayal. While not quite the stuff of their predecessors, the current E-Series remain among the most ruthlessly efficient and lethal machines within the empire, elite assassins and terror machines par excellence.
While the E-Series was initially conceived of as assasins, Robotnik has explored other avenues with the line, deviating from the base mold to create more specialized variants. The E-500 series was an attempt to create a more standardized sniper variant, while the subsequent E-1000 series was an attempt to mass produce the E-Series while trying to retain as much of its effectiveness as possible. The E-2000s deviated even further from the base mold, serving as a mobile weapon platform for an experimental heavy laser cannon. While devastatingly powerful, the E-2000s have seen only limited deployment due to faults within the cannon, notably its long charge time.

Metallix
In many ways the Metallix series represent the cream of the crop of the Robotnik Empire’s various war machines, as well as being indicative of Robotnik’s deeply warped mindset. The Metallix are killing machines in every sense of the word, and ones built in the image of Robotnik’s most hated enemies. The oldest and most infamous of the Metallix series proper is Metal Sonic, Robotnik’s second-in-command own personal attack dog. While originally designed to mimic Sonic, the Metallix series has since expanded to act as mirrors for all of the major Freedom Fighters and assorted heroes who have bedeviled the doctor and stymied his ambitions. It is even joked that the surest sign you’ve ‘made it’ in the war against Robotnik is when a Metallix pops up in your image. The Metallix are no laughing matter though- by deign of being designed to counter specific and very powerful Mobians, they are easily the most lethal of Robotnik’s forces. Where the Metallix go, only death follows... especially when the Metallix in question is Metal Sonic.
The Metallix have their origins in the Pseudo-Sonic Badnik, which can be considered a prototype for the entire Metallix Line. Robotnik had long hoped to build a high-speed robot capable of countering Sonic the Hedgehog. After forays into various “Speed Bots”, Robotnik finally refined the technology to create the Mobini powered Pseudo-Sonic, a machine designed to not only kill Sonic specifically but to also besmirch his reputation. While Pseudo-Sonic was defeated, the proof of the concept would eventually lead to the creation of the first ‘true’ Metallix- Metal Sonic, first deployed in the Little Planet Raid. Since that time Sonic has only been able to just barely keep his metal doppelganger at bay, and Robotnik has gone on to expand the scope of the Metallix Series to create more like Metal Sonic. The Metallix have since gone on to become the true elite of the Empire, few in number but deadly beyond measure.
There has been at least one attempt to mass produce the success of Metal Sonic. The most prominent attempt was made by Robotnik’s chief scientist Dr. Grimer, who converted the old Special Zone Fortress to become an automated factory churning out Metal Sonic drones, with an ‘Emperor Metallix’ guiding everything. The project ended in catastrophic failure and the near usurpation of Robotnik by the Emperor Metallix, and since that time there have been no further attempts to ‘standardize’ the Metallix.

Infiltrators
Designed to mimic organic life, the Infiltrators (also known as Auto-Automatons) are the premier spies of the Robotnik Empire. The Infiltrator line was first developed in response to the various hidden sanctuaries that sprang up within the boundaries of the Robotnik Empire that would then go on to become hotbeds of organized military resistance. Initial models were based upon pre-existing Mobians who served as templates after being captured by Robotnik. Initial research was carried out on an island facility that doubled as a labor camp, but progress was stymied when the prison was infiltrated and destroyed by a young Sonic the Hedgehog (with the help of Mighty the Armadillo and Ray the Flying Squirrel). While the original facility was lost, Robotnik was able to escape with the research and several captives, and successfully created the first units in a separate facility.
Since that time the Infiltrator series has only become more refined. The need for pre-existing organic templates is now a thing of the past as Mobian identities are crafted wholesale, and the technology has advanced to the point where the Infiltrators can mimic organic behaviors such as eating without giving away their true, mechanical nature. The main production facility for the Infiltrators is the best kept secret in the Empire. More insidiously, some Infiltrators are being deployed with fabricated memories and no knowledge of their true origin, acting as sleeper agents.

Misc Robots
Beyond the standardized units and the elite models deployed en-masse by the Robotnik Empire, there are also the countless non-standardized units that proliferate Robotnik’s domain. Mission-specific war machines, experimental units, even machines built on a whim to satisfy Robotnik’s curiosity... all these and more can be found in the Robotnik Empire, ever ready for the opportunity to inflict just a bit more misery on whatever unfortunate organics they come across.
These non-standardized units vary wildly in terms of design, armaments and intelligence. Some are attached to deployments of SWATbots and the like as part of official military operations, while others still are simply wandering menaces that attack anybody unfortunate enough to come across them. This is done both to draw out Freedom Fighters and to torment the organic communities that remain within the Empire. Either the Freedom Fighters will blow their cover or the communities will be destroyed by inches. And if said communities fight back? Then, having broken the law, the community will be culled by Robotnik and the survivors Roboticized as a message to the others.
Any of these outcomes are acceptable to Robotnik, and the sheer unfairness of it is a source of endless, sadistic amusement to the Eggman.

KINSHIP-4 Pt.1 Godkiller
The five mechs approached the massive drone superheavy with caution and trepidation. The thing was huge, standing on six thick crab legs with a large dome like turret on top of it.
Kinda looks like a Union class walking around…god how are we supposed to kill that with five mechs?
Anya shook the thought from her head. It was unhelpful at the moment, and she needed to focus.
“Ok…let's see how close we can get.” she said to the other members of the makeshift star.
“God this is a stupid fucking idea…” Billy grumbles over the comms.
“Well, we don’t have any better ideas, so here we are.” Victoria says. “Alright, come on.”
The five mechs began to move closer to the machine slowly making its way towards FOB Kinship. So far, it had not fired on them, seeming to not register their presence as it trundled through the suburbs and scattered buildings.
So far so good.
They were within 100 meters when Anya called them to a halt. There were some buildings nearby that could serve as cover if things went for the worst.
“Ok…remember the briefing, we’re aiming to take out guns, especially that big one. If we can also disable its movement, so much the better.”
“Roger.”
“Got it!”
“This is the worst fucking idea I ever-”
“Understood…”
Anya braced her Deva, trying her best to ignore the cramped cockpit.
Like being in a coffin…
She shook her head again, bringing up the targeting reticule of her ER PPCs and engaging the targeting computer. The lines of data that streamed across her view were foreign, but she understood enough to know what they meant. She brought the twin ER PPCs up and centered her aim at the barrel of a Gauss Rifle on the closest leg. With any luck, the weapon would detonate and damage further systems. Her companions all marked targets.
“Ok, on my command…” she said, hoping this worked.
For Savannah and everyone else counting on her…
“Fire!”
All five of the battlemechs opened fire, sending a torrent of PPC, Missile, Laser and Autocannon  fire into the advancing machine, blasts of energy and rippling explosions peppering the foremost leg, with some scoring the armor of the main gun housing as well. They fired for a full three minutes of sustained fire.
Anya braced herself, expecting the hail of fire, the searing death of the naval weapon mounted on the drone to erase her from existence, for…
…for nothing.
The drone trundled on, seemingly oblivious to the damage done by the attacks, which had savaged the guns on one leg, damaging the Gauss Rifle and Autocannon there, and judging by the warped and bent barrels, they were at least inoperable.
“It…worked…it worked!” she laughed, relief washing over her. “Ok, let’s keep going! Let's see what we can do against that main gun!”
The four cheers she received helped stifle the feeling of dread in her heart.

/COMMUNICATION ENDED
/TAGGING ESCORTS [5] VALID TARGETS
/ENGAGING
The only sign something was wrong was the LRM launchers opening like flowers.
“Oh f- get to cover!” Billy shouted over the comms. His warning saved their lives.
The drone opened fire with all available weapons, barring the Capital-Class SCL, as the drone determined they were within the minimal field for fire it had allotted to avoid damaging itself.
Lasers, gauss slugs, LB-X rounds and missiles all slammed into the already moving mechs, peeling or blasting away armor, and damaging structure and weapons in the few seconds it took them to find cover.
“Fuck! Everyone damage report, stat!” Anya yells to be heard over the drone’s thunderous response.
“Godkiller 2, took some nasty gauss slug hits to my torso, along with some AC rounds to my arms. Armor holding, just.” Victoria replies.
“Godkiller 3, down my left arm, and my legs are pretty bad off, but I can keep going.” Kei says. “And it’s hot.”
“Godkiller 5, of fucking course I ain’t alright, jesus girl what kinda dumb ass-” Billy begins.
“Cut the crap, Billy! Report status!” Anya snaps at him.
“Alright, alright! I’m shot to shit, down the armor on my left side practically all fucking over, and I’m gonna fucking die in a cockpit I can barely move in, sir!”
Anya bit back a reply. “Godkiller 4, report.”
Elenor does not respond.
“...Godkiller 4, come in.” she says, trying again.
“Hey Elenor, can you hear us?” Victoria asks, reaching out to tap the smaller, badly mauled mech with a hand.
Elenor’s Preta doesn’t respond. It’s hardly surprising, based on how it’s missing most of its armor, an arm, and looks an especially nasty hit to the gyro and center torso.
“...Elenor?” Kei asks, concern in her voice.
“...Godkiller 4, reporting…gyro’s hit…missing armor in 85% of…my mech…weapons systems down…” Elenor replies. She sounds…different.
“You ok, Elenor, you’re sounding kinda…fucky.” Billy adds, less than helpfully.
“...no. I am…not…” She coughs a bit. “...shrapnel…from the gyro or torso hit…cockpit breached…can’t…feel my legs…based on…location the lack of sensation starts…” she coughs some more, “...I suspect my spine has been severed above my hips…”
“Oh no…we…we need to get you out of here.” Victoria says.
“How? That damn thing will shred us if we try!” Billy shouts at her.
“Well we have to try damnit!” She replies.
“Both of you SHUT UP!” Anya shouts over both of them. She flicks the comms open.
“This is Godkiller 1 to CFRI Recon Elements 1-Beta and 2-Alpha, we are taking heavy fire from the drone and have one pilot critically wounded, requesting support! Copy!”
Another shower of LRMs peppers the area around them, blooms of fire erupting from the ground and buildings they have as cover, a number hitting the pinned mechs. Kei moves to shield Elenor’s ‘mech from the worst of it.
“Repeat, this is Godkiller 1 to CFRI Recon Elements 1-Beta and 2-Alpha, we need immediate support!”
The call for aid was responded to promptly, 2-Beta lance moving to intercept the drone at high speed. The lance commander of 2-Beta was banking on using their speed and the available cover to engage the drone in hit and run tactics, in order to draw its attention away from Godkiller. With a Thorn, Wasp, Stinger and Locust, it was a good strategy. In a normal combat encounter it would have likely worked, forcing the enemy pilot/s to choose between pushing the advantage against the Barghest Company mechs and letting the lights run free in their rear armor, or focus on the new threat, allowing the pinned mechs to make a break for it or engage a divided force.
The second the Thorn designated as 1-Beta-1 entered weapons range, the drone fired. It targeted the light mech with no fewer than three AC2’s, as well as a volley of LRM’s. The AC rounds smashed into the mech’s left torso simultaneously, stripping armor, staggering the light mech. Another salvo slamed into the same area as the first, punching through and into the internals, damaging the mech’s reactor. The pilot of 1-Beta-1 ejected as their mech died. They soon joined it, a LRM slamming into them before they even had a chance to deploy their shute.
The other members of 1-Beta picked up speed, aiming to get to cover before the drone could fire again. It was too late. At the first signs of additional targets, the Jericho had begun charging the Capital-Class SCL. The aperture that covered the massive weapon’s emitter slid open, and the targeting computer locked onto the desired target. The charge hit 100%, and the weapon fired.
A fat beam of blindingly white energy lanced out from the drone, spearing its target, the Locust 1-Beta-4. The beam sliced through armor, rupturing the fusion bottle in the Locust’s extralight 160-rating engine, resulting in a chained fusion detonation. The blast vaporized the Locust, and the ensuing fusion reaction engulfed 1-Beta-2 and 1-Beta-3. Both mechs were toppled by the shockwave, armor melted into slag and myomer burned to cinders by the miniature sun that had appeared for an instant next to them. Neither pilot survived.
The beam was only operational for several seconds, but in that time it had ignited anything flammable within 10 meters of the beam.
2-Alpha fared better. Forewarned by the sudden deaths of 1-Beta, they approached more cautiously. This and judicious use of cover allowed them to escape complete destruction. Even so, upon engaging, 2-Alpha-2 caught an LB-X10 Cluster round, blasting the arm off the Mongoose in a shower of sparks, armor, and myomer fibers. Thankfully the mech was in partial cover, so escaped further damage. The four mechs did what they could, missiles, lasers and autocannon rounds peppering the drone, but were unable to do more than snapshots from cover. They at least had the drone’s attention, and it had slackened the level of fire it was aiming at the other pinned mechs.
The pilot of 1-Alpha-1 opened the comm line as they ducked out and let off a blast of laser fire at the advancing drone.
“This is 1-Alpha-1 to Godkiller 1, we’ve engaged the drone. If you’re gonna go, you better do it now, we’ll keep it busy long as we can.”
“Come on, we have to go now!” Anya says, trying to ignore the panicked voices that filled the comms briefly. “They’re buying us some time!”
“Are you crazy?! That thing’ll cut us to ribbons!” Billy snaps back at her. “You heard what happened, we won’t survive five minutes let alone long enough to escape!”
Anya’s mind raced, he was right, but still, there had to be a way, there had to be-
“...I’ll do it…” Elenor says, quietly.
“What?”
“Do what?”
“...I’ll…buy you time…think it…hit one of my lungs too…”
Anya’s eyes went wide. Not again.
“Elenor, no, there has to be another way there-”
“...you won’t make it if I don’t…the drone…will cut you all down with 99% certainty…has to be me…” she says, weakly, but voice tinged with determination.
Elenor lurches her mech upright, and before anyone can respond, has rounded the corner, into the waiting jaws of the drone.
“ELENOR!”
Elenor’s mind was surprisingly clear. She had been worried the injuries would affect her thinking and piloting, but not really. The gyro hit took most of the credit for that.
Her Preta stumbled and staggered forward, into what she had correctly, it seems, assumed would be a partial dead zone due to the damage they inflicted earlier. Even so, the drone opens fire with lasers and what remaining guns can target her mech this close.
The beams of concentrated light and missiles tore at what remaining armor her mech had. She ignored it. She would make it. She’d run the calculations three times.
The remaining arm of her mech was shorn away in a shower of sparks and myomer fibers.
She was less than 20 meters when the leg on her mech failed, lanced through by a laser, and she began to fall.
Elenor calmly triggered her jump jets, and let the forward momentum do the rest, bracing as best she can in her current state.
70% chance I survive the impact…
…chance of survival of this course of action…0.01%.
The Preta was launched forward, twisting in mid air to clang off one of the drone’s legs, before skidding to a halt beneath the machine.
Her head was swimming, although she wasn’t sure if that was from blood loss or the impact.
She fumbled with her controls, flicking the comms open and as rapidly toggling the right channel as her blurring vision and uncoordinated fingers would allow.
There. She finally had the right channel.
“SLDF RAB Caber, this is…Godkiller 4, requesting immediate…artillery strike, my location…”she said, before coughing wetly. She could taste the blood now.
“This is Caber, Godkiller 4, we read you, designate target. We’re getting ECM interference your position.”
“…Godkiller 4 to…Caber…sending now…lock onto reactor signature for GM 270 Light Fusion engine…” she said, pausing to cough more, “...recommend…full barrage.”
“Roger that, Godkiller 4, dropping the hammer. Suggest immediate evac of area surrounding designated target.”
“…negative…” she coughs more “unable to evac…can’t move my legs…and will bleed out before I get picked up…”
“…Roger Godkiller 4…godspeed.”
The first shells impact the drone near dead center, causing the machine to rock and dip slightly, with one landing directly on the aperture for the SCL, sending showers of metal fragments this way and that. The rest of the barrage lasts for several minutes, cratering the ground around the drone and stripping armor from the great machine. In the chaos, smoke, and fire, four mechs slink away, leaving the fifth behind.
The rain of shells hammered down on the drone like the wrath of a vengeful god. It managed to move forward another block under the barrage, before it died. One shell found its way deep into the innards of the machine before detonating, setting off ammo bins and tearing apart myomer and circuitry. It came to a shuddering halt, spasming with internal detonations sending fire and metal spewing through rents in its armor. Its reactor ruptured. The drone's rudimentary artificial intelligence tried to reroute power, to keep going, somehow.
It failed. Full system shutdown occurred. The drone became so much immobile scrap in the suburbs of Coen, the only sounds the creaking of superheated metal and crackle of flames as myomer and plastics caught fire.
It was a victory, of a sort, but still left a bitter taste in Anya’s mouth as the group exited the engagement zone. The reactor signal of the drone was gone. Cold and dead...just like...
She punched the comms button to Kinship.
“...This is Godkiller 1 to Kinship, pulling back, drone dead, repeat, drone dead…all units badly damaged…one casualty…Godkiller 4. Returning to FOB for repair and rearmament.”

Helios
Coen City Suburbs
White Petal Medical Clinic
1.5 Hours Later
Dr. Elise Morrow pulled the cigarette from the pack and lit it, taking a long drag on it and blowing out the smoke. She stood on the step in front of the small clinic, surveying the smoke rising from the distance in both the city proper, and closer at hand.
It had been a hell of a day.
Ever since the first days of the war, since that was what this is, regardless of what either side said, she had more work than she had known what to do with. Minor injuries, people trying to stock up on medication, collateral damage…
She sighed heavily. She was so, so tired.
Once the evacuation had been ordered, most of the non critical patients had been moved, not that there were all that many, they weren’t a terribly large facility after all.
That just left a handful that weren’t stable enough, and any that came in. That had helped. What had decidedly not helped was most of her staff doing a runner at the first signs of actual combat in the area, despite Elise telling them that it was safer in a non-military target than out.
Taking another drag of her cigarette, she listened to the rumbling of distant combat, and watched the occasional flash of a skyward laser or PPC.
She was no stranger to this, war that is. She’d been through several.
Still…never got much easier…
“Doctor?” came a voice behind her, one of her remaining orderlies. “The patient is awake.”
Everything hurt. Which was good, and bad. Good, because it meant you were alive. Bad, because it hurt. Arms covered in bandages weakly moved to block the bright light coming from the ceiling lights, lightly jostling the IV bags next to the bed. It was hard to breath and there was an oxygen mask on their face, and their back and side were on fire with a deep, deep ache.
But, again, the pain was reassuring in a way. Can’t hurt if you’re dead.
Where…
“Ah, so you are awake.” came a voice from the door, a middle aged woman, hair going prematurely gray from life as a doctor, most likely, steps into the room.
The woman checks the chart at the foot of the bed, scrolling through the digital display for a few moments.
“And by the looks of it, everything went better than expected. You’re extremely lucky to be alive, you know? The shrapnel saved your life, ironically. If it hadn’t been white hot and partially cauterized your wounds…” she pauses, shaking her head.
“Sorry, old combat medic talking, I’m Dr. Elise Morrow. Is there anything you need?”
“...painkillers…and a radio…”
“Well, there’s a button for morphine next to you, dear, just don’t get too attached to it, we don’t have a lot right now, and after all the work I did putting your spine back together, you ODing would make me very upset. As for the radio…” Elise says, putting a hand on her hip, ”I’ll handle that, got your tags after all”
The doctor pulls a pair of dog tags from her pocket, before setting them down on the bedside table.
“...understood…”
“Glad we’re on the same page then, dear.” Elise says with a smile, resuming checking her chart.
“...how…did I get here?”
The doctor pauses in her checking of the chart again.
“Well, a couple “good samaritans”, looters or scavengers most likely, practically dropped you on our doorstep about an hour and a half ago. Pulled you out of what had once been a ‘mech. Like I said, if your wounds hadn’t been partially cauterized, you’d be a goner by now. And you got extremely lucky, your left lung was nicked rather than properly holed. Any more and without the mild cauterization, you’d have bought the farm.”
“The worst of it is your spine. I did what I could with a neuro/spinal bypass, but you’ll need someone with a proper full medical suite to actually fix it properly. The bypass is a quick and dirty method to get you somewhere better equipped. But for the moment…” she pauses, pulling a small device from her pocket, and gently prodding the toes of each of the patient's feet with it.
The patient’s eyes grow slightly wider when it registers they were able to feel that.
“...I think I did alright.” Elise says with a smile. “Also you’re going to be short of breath for a while, and there will be a weight in the left side of your chest. That’s the sealant foam. It’ll keep you from bleeding into your lungs at least until you see a proper, well equipped doctor, rather than an ex medic who knows how to keep you pumping air and walking until then. There’s also the stitches and staples, but again, same thing.”
“...I...thank you…”
“Don’t just yet. Like I said, have someone with a full suite take a look at you when you get back. I’ll go make that call now. You just rest for now.”
“...understood.”
“Good, if you need anything, it’s that red button there.” Elise says, before taking her leave to check the rest of her patients.
The patient lay there for a few moments, deep in thought. After a while, they gingerly reached over and picked the dog tags up off the table.
—-------------------------------- VON STRAUSS ELENOR 904372189 B POS AGNOSTIC —--------------------------------
Elenor stared at the dog tags for a while, before setting them down again.
She had heard once, a phrase that stuck with her.
“You can’t fight the math.”
She had believed it, for most of her relatively short life.
She wasn’t so sure now. Sometimes, it seems, you can fight the math.
Sometimes miracles happen.

Aim. Fire. Fwump.
The gauss rifle in Gewitter’s arm spits, firing its ferrous slug at several times the speed of sound.
Aim. Fire. Fwump.
The battle is loud outside, but Theodora can only hear the rushing of blood in her ears. An alarm sounds- incoming fire, SRMs. She dodges, using the jump jets with the utmost finesse to glide the 100-ton mech along the ground with ease. On the HUD, the source of the fire is painted in vivid red, standing out against the cool blues and greys of the battlefield.
Aim. Fire. Fwump.
The storefront explodes in a flare of choking concrete dust, chunks of rubble exploding outwards in a wave. Turning back to the objective, Theodora and Gewitter continue their march, towards the sounds of pounding fire that mark the enemy flank.
Onward, she urges, feeling the throb of the reactor ramp up in time with the beat of her heart. The Atlas thunders down the causeway, shaking the very earth itself with its steps as it nears its prey. With a bestial cry, Theodora leaps, soaring into the air on streams of ionizing plasma, carried aloft on the lifeblood of her machine as she falls upon the enemy from the crimson sky. They number five, she is only one. They are utterly beneath her, they never stood a chance.
With a single blast from the lasers, one of the light ‘mechs’ cockpits flashed into slag, pilot atomized before they’d had a chance to fire. The second managed to get a shot off, but missed entirely, the PPC flashing harmlessly over Gewitter’s left shoulder.
Aim. Fire. Fwump.
The Marauder listed as the 200kg metal slug punched through its superstructure, fires sparking deep inside.
Aim. Fire. Fwump.
It was dead, falling to the ground with the protesting scream of a collapsing building.
Two more were upon her, close-range heavies equipped to kill at point blank. No matter, she was no one-trick pony, after all. She and Gewitter struck out, in unison as they delivered a tight jab to the rightmost mech, knocking it stumbling backwards. Next, a point blank shot with the ER lasers on the second mech, sending molten debris flying into the air as the high-intensity light burned into the cockpit at a range far closer than its designers ever intended. Finally, bringing the staggered mech into view, she delivered the Gnadenschuss.
Aim. Fire. Fwump.
As the smoldering wreckage of the engagement listed to the ground, Theodora took a breath, savoring the scent of scorching metal, tangy sweat and ozone that always filled the cockpit.
Wait, she suddenly realized, with sickening clarity, and a sense of Deja Vu. There were five.
In an instant that seemed to last forever, she turned, so agonizingly slowly, to face where she somehow knew the final ‘mech to be.
Just in time to stare directly down the barrel of an AC-20 as it fired.
With a gasp, Theodora sat bolt upright in bed, loose hair flying wild as she clutched at her chest, then her missing leg, panicking until the here and now reasserted itself. Talabad was 10 years distant, now. She was on Helios, in the tent she shared with her wife, Melisssa.
Speaking of Melissa, by some miracle, Theodora had managed not to wake her. She still slept soundly beside her, the gentle rise and fall of her chest and ever-so-slight whistle of her breathing like a melody to Theodora’s ears.
Best not to wake her. Theodora thought. She gets so little sleep as it is. No sense in me adding to her stress.
So, she moved, quiet as she could, scooting to the edge of the bed. With ease of long practice, she slipped the soft fabric of her suspension sleeve over the stump of her leg, ignoring the phantom sensation that plagued her after remembering the battle that had taken it from her.
Tomorrow would be another day of hell. But at least they’d face it together.
She grabbed the prosthetic, slipping her leg into into it with gritted teeth, letting out only a quiet hiss as the neural laces connected, sending a brief flash of searing pain up to her hip. She stood and dressed, in the SLDF uniform pants and black T-shirt she favored when off-duty, and exited the tent.
It was quiet, at FOB Hawk. Quiet as the grave. After all, tomorrow, they would fight titans of steel, and they would win, or die. So Theodora did not blame them for getting all the sleep they could, while they could.
But, since she was yet awake, she walked, through the silent tents and burned-out buildings, to the place where the giants of ferro-fibrous alloy stood sentinel at the campus edge.
With all the familiarity of a path tread a thousand times, she marched through the tomb-like stillness to where her Gewitter awaited her, skull helm leering as it always had.
With a sigh, she slumped against it, reveling in the feeling of the cold steel against her back, so different from that day on Talabad, yet still the same in every way that mattered.

A while ago I created this Non-Canon Devil Fruit Tierlist:
Tumblr media
And now I wanna share it, go in depth about the fruits and give proper translated names to the ones that don't have any.
This turned out to be much longer than I thought it I'd be so I'm splitting it into several parts.
Let's start with the S Tiers:
-Goe Goe no Mi (Scream-Scream Fruit):
Tumblr media
But no, really, that's what it is. It allows the user to release powerful sound waves by shouting. The power can be controlled, so you could do a tiny scream to say, brake a lock, a chain, etc, fly like that funny Godzilla clip, make smaller shouts and shoot them like a machine gun, or turn your head while screaming to turn it into a slash attack.
-Nemu Nemu no Mi (Sleep-Sleep Fruit): Allows the user to induce sleepiness in others and steal their sleeping victims memories and use them to become bigger and stronger. If that wasn't broken enough, they can also put people in a dream world, and then manipulate said dream world using the stolen memories, hypnotise people and create illusions. This DF is incredibly broken and the only reason it was defeated was because the user is a sea horse. Why are you surprised? It's One Piece.
-Atsu Atsu no Mi (Hot-Hot Fruit):Allows the user to create and control pure heat with a maximum temperature of 10,000 degrees. You can use it for either defense or short and long range attacks, by concentrating the heat into balls to throw at people. You can generate steam to attack or blind enemies or to fly by shooting it out your nose. The user is also unbothered by either extreme cold or heat, you can go out in the snow butt-ass naked or even swim in lava, and then control the lava to turn it into a massive wave. But all that aside, just imagine the practicality! You'll never have to pay for gas or air conditioning ever again!
Oh and the heat can be involuntarily generated by anger, so heads up.
-Noko Noko no Mi (Shroom-Shroom Fruit): It allows the user generate and control poisonous mushroom spores. Sounds simple, but if you're creative you can use this in a manner of ways: you could concentrate the spores to make them look like lasers, clones to either attack, deceive or restrain. The spores can morph your body, like turning your hand into a drill. The spores will dissapear if they or yourself are set on fire, and they can also be countered by an antidote. And one downside is that the spores slowly build up inside your body and you have to release them every 10 years, so you might wanna mark your calendar and plan a vacation to an un-inhabited island.
-Mosa Mosa no Mi (Grow-Grow Fruit): Allows the user to amplify the growth of plants, aswell as having full control of them. You could become the King of the Flourists or Gardeners! Or, Idk, END WORLD HUNGER!!
-Modo Modo no Mi (Return-Return Fruit): Allows the user to return anything and anyone they touch to a younger age, specifically 12 years. You could become a billionaire by charging people to make them younger or to fix things. But of course only by 12 years; but be careful, because if you touch anyone enough times you could de-age them to before they were born. Also the effect wears off if you are knocked out.
-Moa Moa no Mi (More-More Fruit): Allows the user to multiply the size and speed of any object they touch up to 100 times, this also applies to the user. Perfect for combat, and also ENDING WORLD HUNGER AND ALL RESOURCE ISSUES WORLDWIDE!!!
-Nito Nito no Mi (Nitro-Nitro Fruit): You sweat nitroglycerin. You're literally Bakugou. Duh, it's an S.
-Goru Goru no Mi (Gold-Gold Fruit): Allows the user to telekinetically manipulate any gold they've touched. The effect wears off if it's splashed by sea water, in that case they have to touch it again.
It's official english name is the "Gol-Gol Fruit" but that's dumb and it triggers my OCD so I'm calling it Gold.
-Raki Raki no Mi (Luck-Luck Fruit): Allows the user to steal the luck of anyone they touch and in-turn make the victim unlucky. This is incredibly OP, but the effect is temporary, either because the luck "returns" to the victims or because it was "spent", which leads me to the next point: you can't control how the luck is spent, so if it ends with something you didn't mean or want to happen, you are unaware of it.
-Nepa Nepa no Mi (Wave-Wave Fruit): Allows the user to generate heat waves. The waves are so powerful that they could destroy entire islands. They can also be amped up by using a giant fan.
-Mono Mono no Mi (Paste-Paste Fruit): Allows the user to create clones of people and things. The clones obey the user no matter what, even if they do something that's out-of-character; while they have the same skills, they're not as strong as the original.
-Basu Basu no Mi (Boom-Boom Fruit): Allows the user to turn anything they touch into a bomb.
Fun Fact: It was eaten by a dude named Balzac.
-Gasha Gasha no Mi (Clank-Clank Fruit): Allows the user to telekinetically disassemble, rearrange and combine inanimate objects to make mechanical creations. You could make Gundam. Downsides: limited range and what you can make is dependant on the nearby materials and your own mechanical knowledge.
-Nibi Nibi no Mi (Wisp-Wisp Fruit): Allows the user to control will-o'-the-wisps and reproduce the appearance and abilities of the deceased after touching a memento of said deceased. The wisps can also be used offensively.
The name was made by me.
-Uta Uta no Mi (Sing-Sing Fruit): Allows the user to transport their and others' consciousness to a virtual space called "Uta World", which they have complete control over, by singing; it can work via livestreams too. The user can also control the unconscious real-world bodies of those inside Uta World. The only one that can allow someone to leave Uta World is the user. While the user is omnipotent, they're not omniscient, so you can run away, hide in soundproof areas, or even trap the user in a soundproof containment field. The user can livestream images from Uta World to the real world. The ability is active for as long as the user is awake, which is difficult since the ability consumes a lot of stamina. And if the user dies, everyone in Uta World is trapped there forever.
-Kote Kote no Mi (Grab-Grab Fruit): Allows the user to create a pair of giant gauntlets. They can be used to punch, grab, and control any non-living thing in the user's grasp, like lightning. It's just a Stand. You can also use them defend yourself, make them into reflectice surfaces to ricochet bullets and even grab living beings and extract information from them. They can be repelled by strong wills and you can only grab two things at a time.
-Mari Mari no Mi (Mari-Mari Fruit): Allows the user to make copies of people and command them, the only weakness of the fruit is that you need to know a person's name and see them directly to copy them.
"Mari" is short for "marionette". I made this name too but it's so obvious I don't think it counts.
-Inu Inu no Mi (Dog-Dog Fruit), Model: Bake-danuki: Allows the user to become a full Bake-danuki (a tanuki yokai) or a half-Bake-danuki hybrid. This is Mythical Zoan (a type even rarer than a Logia), which aside from the usual Zoan powers, it usually grants an extra Paramecia-style power. This one allows the user to turn leaves into ANYTHING. By writing the name of something or someone on a leaf the user can create people, objects, environments, you name it! And if they make clones, they are completely loyal to the user, although not as strong as the originals. They can also clone themselves.
-Batto Batto no Mi (Bat-Bat Fruit), Model: Vampire: Allows the user to become a full vampire or a half-vampire hybrid while also being able to fly and drain the life-force of others. The life-force sucking works via the fangs or the your fingers (Wryyyy!), making you young and basically immortal if you keep up that habit. And if you're not total dick, like Dio, you can return the life-force with no ill effects.
-Ame Ame no Mi (Candy-Candy Fruit): Allows the user to create, control, and transform into candy syrup; you can also harden the candy for defense or turn it into weapons. Now this one is a doosy, because it's confirmed to be a Logia, but with the current available information, I think that it's a Special Paramecia. It fits all the criteria for one (Set by the only other example: the Mochi-Mochi Fruit.): having more than one of the three Paramecia ability types with a man-made element. And Logia's only allow the user to become a natural elemental, like fire, light, smoke, soot and even abstract concepts like darkness, and candy syrup sadly doesn't fit the bill. Oh, and it's also weak to getting eaten.
-Meta Meta no Mi (Metal-Metal Fruit): Allows the user to generate and control liquid metal. You can create communicating liquid metal clones that mimic people and animals and also create replacement limbs. This fruit doesn't have an established type, but with the description in the wiki about what it does, it's pretty fair to say it's a Paramecia.
Obvious name added by me.
-Zuma Zuma no Mi (Plasma-Plasma Fruit): Allows the user to generate, control and become plasma. The only known use of this fruit is to create large, electricity-emitting balls of plasma. This fruit also doesn't have an established type, and while it sounds like it's a Logia, it was actually stated in it's debut live show to not be case. And this make sense because in the live show the plasma images used were of man-made plasma lamps, making this a Special Paramecia.
Obvious name added by me.
-Ryu Ryu no Mi (Dragon-Dragon Fruit), Model: Stegosaurus: Allows the user to become a full Stegosaurus or a half-Stegosaurus hybrid. You can become a dinosaur, come on, it's an obvious S! This is an Ancient Zoan type, which are way rarer than a regular Zoans; this fruit was part of the original concept for the character Black Maria, who later on was given the spider Ancient Zoan, the Kumo Kumo no Mi (Spider-Spider Fruit), Model: Rosamygale Grauvogeli, instead.
This was probably changed to shake things up between the Tobiroppo (a group Maria belonged to), who all had dino Zoans, and it would be difficult for her be a sexy femme fatale while being a big, fat dino.
Name made by me.
And that's it for the S-Ranks! Stay tuned for Part 2!
And here is the link, so you can make your own list, if you want:

Fulfillment of a prompt from the @nirnwrote discord server!
Prompt:  “you’ve made your choice so live with it” Given to me by @blossom-adventures
No content warnings that I can think of.
Getting gifts from friends is a long-time tradition between the races of Tamriel… However, one hardly ever got pieces of Dwemer technology by the time the Second Era rolled around. That didn’t stop Neramo from gifting his favorite adventuring buddy, the Vestige, a special piece of technology he came to own.
The Vestige, naturally, was over the moon at such a big gift, but when she asked how she was supposed to use it, the Altmer simply shrugged before leaving to catch his ship, leaving the Bosmer and her companions lost on what to do.
Several days later (after moving the giant automaton to a place outside of the town they were staying in) the group gathered around the golden contraption, each having their own ideas on how to use it.
“Maybe it has lasers? That would be useful.” Ember suggested, tapping her claws on her staff. Isobel and Bastian shared dubious looks while Mirri inspected the front of it.
“It clearly is meant to be sit in, but is it just a chair? If so, it wouldn’t have the legs.” Isobel mused, though with her lack of experience with Dwemer creations, she was very doubtful. Mirri looked up and over at the Breton, her lips quirked in a way to show she was considering the suggestion.
“That may be it, but there’s clearly an engine of some kind under this decorative piece.” The Dunmer stated, gently rapping her knuckles on the golden metal. Wylarin, who had been under the machine inspecting what she could, suddenly sat up eagerly, slamming her forehead into the hull of the spider-craft. The other four winced in sympathy, but otherwise waited for what their friend had to say so suddenly.
“That really hurt- Anyways! I know what this is! Or at least what it most likely is. Based on the parts and how they are used, this is essentially a giant Dwarven spider. And this-” She paused to clamber on into the front seat before motioning to the bent rod sitting in front of her, “Is most likely used to steer. It’s a mount! Like a robotic horse that two people can ride at once! Except it’s a spider, but still.” She grinned at her friends, her eyes sparkling with joy and excitement.
“Darling, do you have any idea how to use it? Or turn it on?” Bastian asked, his amused look laced with concern.
“I imagine the steering apparatus is the controls, but as for how to turn it on, there’s a slot that’s perfect to put a soul gem into.” The Bosmer explained, pulling her bag up onto her lap to rummage for a soul gem. Once she had one, she carefully placed it into the slot. Immediately, the dull blue markings on the front lit up and the clearing was filled with the familiar sound of Dwemer machinery at work.
Wylarin let out a sound that was a mix of a scream and a cry of joy, her face looking like a child on Saturnalia.
“It works! Try moving it, try moving it!” Ember cheered, just as excited as Wylarin. Mirri was excited as well, but Isobel and Bastian were much more wary of the vehicle.
Wylarin shifted in the seat to get more comfortable before grabbing both sides of the steering mechanism, a determined look set on her face.
“Alright, here goes nothi-” She cut herself off with a shriek as she pushed the rods forward all the way, sending the spider off at high speed. Right off a hidden ledge.
“Shit!” Bastian cried out, pulling his staff out of it’s holster as he ran with the others to where Wylarin disappeared. When they peered over the ledge, they saw the spider upright and still powered up with Wylarin still seated looking perfectly fine if not a bit startled. When she felt the stares of her friends, she looked over and smiled at them brightly. Bastian sighed and put his staff away, shoulders slumping in relief.
“Maybe someone should ride with you and let you know if you’re gonna run off a ledge again.” Mirri suggested, jumping down from the ledge to better assess if her partner was alright or not. It seemed the other three companions took her suggestion and action as her volunteering herself because they all sat down and got ready to watch what could happen.
When she realized her mistake, the brunette whipped her head around to stare at her other partner, looking at the smug looking Imperial with a look of betrayal, “Basti, you can’t really think I was volunteering, where you?” She asked, her tone laced with mock offense.
Bastian narrowed his eyes at his two partners before smiling coyly at Mirri, “You’ve made your choice so live with it”

Comprehending Laser Engraving
What is Engraving by Laser?
A concentrated laser beam evaporates material off an object's surface in laser engraving, a precise marking method. This procedure produces a permanent design that might be very complex and detailed. Laser engraving is more precise and versatile than previous engraving techniques because it uses light energy instead of physical tools.
How Does Laser Cutting Operate?
A laser engraver's operation can be divided into multiple crucial steps:
Design Development: Use a graphic design program like CorelDRAW or Adobe Illustrator to create a digital design. The design needs to be transformed into a laser engraver-compatible format.
Configuration of the Machine: The type of material and intended engraving depth are considered while calibrating the laser engraver. Adjusting variables like focus, power, and speed helps to maximize the engraving process.
Procedure for Engraving: When the laser beam is directed toward the material's surface, layers of the material are vaporized to generate the desired pattern. Numerous variables, such as the laser engraver's settings and the characteristics of the material, affect the engraving's depth and quality.
Finishing Touches: After engraving, more procedures may be used to improve the engraved surface's longevity or attractiveness.
The Principles of Laser Engraving Science
The concepts of thermal dynamics and photonics underlie laser engraving. Localized melting or vaporization of the substance results from heat generated by the concentrated laser beam striking it. This leads to:
Ablation: The process of vaporizing away material, commonly used to remove stricter things like metals.
Melting: Rather than total vaporization, heat can produce melting in softer materials like wood or plastic.
Laser Engraver Types
There are numerous varieties of laser engravers on the market right now, including:
CO2 Engraving Lasers: These work perfectly with non-metal leather, acrylic, and wood materials. They function at a wavelength that biological molecules can readily absorb.
Fiber Laser Cutters: Fiber lasers, well-known for their adaptability, work well on metals and some polymers. They don't have any consumables that need to be replaced, so they require little maintenance.
YAG lasers: Unlike CO2 lasers, these are mainly employed for marking metal and are capable of deeper etching.
Uses for Laser Engraving
Numerous industries use laser engraving for a variety of purposes.
Manufacturing: Logos or serial numbers are used for branding, traceability, and part identification.
Jewelry making: Maintains the integrity of the material while enabling complex designs and customization.
Medical Devices: Surgical equipment that bears permanent markings guarantees adherence to regulatory requirements.
Promotional Products: Adding a personalized touch to gifts or business supplies with custom engravings raises brand awareness.
