Ayla led Crono and Marle out of the village and quickly found the area where Kino had been attacked by the Reptite. She knelt down and inspected the ground and surrounding vegetation before gesturing for Crono and Marle to follow into the brush. Along the way, she explained that Reptites were very smart, vicious human-like dinosaurs who ruled the lands to the southeast and had always terrorized their village.
“This bad,” Ayla said quietly. “Reptite go to Laruba.”
They continued through the jungle, animals scurrying away. Crono and Marle weren’t sure how long they had traveled as the canopy of the jungle made it hard to see where the sun was. Before they knew it, the three of them could smell smoke.
Ayla entered a clearing. Burnt remains of huts littered the area. Ayla immediately ran up to an elderly man and a group of survivors. She asked them what had happened.
“Reptite follow hunters. Burn village.” The elder replied. “Kill those who fight.”
“This why Laruba hide!” he continued. “Reptite attack because Ioka fight back.”
Ayla stomped her foot and said, “Ioka alive, Ioka fight!”
“Ayla strong. That why can say that. Laruba no have power.”
“That wrong. Fight because power wrong. Power come because fight,” Ayla replied. “Ayla lend power. Need Dactyl.”
The Laruba Elder looked at her in surprise. “Go Tyran castle? Fight Azala?! Danger! Even if Ayla. Want to die?”
“Want to live so go. Ayla be fine. Have strong friends,” Ayla replied. “Take Laruba to Ioka. Kino and others keep safe.”
The Elder nodded. “Go to nest, will tell those who care for nest.”
Ayla smiled and nodded “Elder helpful.”
“Take care Ayla.”
Turning to Crono and Marle, Ayla said, “Come Cro! Come Marle! We go to Dactyls.”

Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest Story: It is the year 1698, seven years after Simon Belmont originally defeated the evil Count Dracula. After Simon delivered the final coup de grace to the Prince of Darkness, the Count placed a dark curse upon him that would send him to an early grave unless Simon revived him. Moreover, Dracula's minions are once again stirring throughout the land of Transylvania, ravaging throughout the many villages and terrorizing the townsfolk. Simon takes up the legendary whip, the Vampire Killer, once again and travels throughout the land to the towns of Jova, Veros, Aljiba, Aldra, Oldon, Fetra and Ghulash to liberate the people and seek help from them as he searches for the Count's body parts which have been hidden in five different dark manors (Berkeley, Rover, Brahm's, Bodley and Laruba) throughout the land. Once all the parts of Dracula's body were in place, Simon took them to the ruins of Dracula's Castle and burned them. Simon didn't expect, however, for Dracula's ghost due to the power of a sixth remain, Dracula's Fang, which was hidden inside the ruins. Simon fought Dracula again and this time finished him for good (or so the people thought, Dracula would later return during the 1800 century). #castlevania #castle #castlevania2 #castlevania2simonsquest #konami #gamingculture #gaming_culture808 #gamersofinstagram #instagaming #videogames #retro #retrogroup #retrocommunity #gaming #hawaii #honolulu #oahu #hawaiigamers #808 #tbt #tbt❤️ #me #like4like #like4likes #photooftheday #picoftheday #picofthedays #video #photoofthedays (at Honolulu, Hawaii) https://www.instagram.com/p/B0Nz27LDcTC/?igshid=1q6bs9ahhh7z4

🍭 What’s a headcanon/theory you have about your special interest?
heheeh I have a lottttt, but one of my all time favourite theories I made for Chrono Trigger was that the colour of their hair indicates whether they have the ability to use magic. imo it’s a pretty solid theory and ties in closely with the lore and everything, as all the protagonists that can wield magic have brightly/unnaturally coloured hair.. literally the only thing that ruins this is Laruba Village in pre-history cause they have purplish hair BEFORE Lavos buried itself in the earth lol
Ask me about my special interests

Running Castlevania with Old School D&D, Part 5
This is part of a continuing series. For part one, click here. For part two, click here. For part three, click here. And for part four, click here.
While the previous posts in this series have mainly been concerned with showing how to adapt Lamentations of the Flame Princess' various character classes to Castlevania-appropriate archetypes, this post will handle the setting of Transylvania itself. And while I dipped into Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse and Symphony of the Night to build a D&D style adventuring party with, neither game really offers much in the way of setting material outside the castle.
For that, I'm going to go back a little farther into the franchise's history, to the much-maligned proto-Metroidvania, Castlevania II: Simon's Quest.
Please, hold all torches and pitchforks until the end.
Just a brief side note: If I really were to run a Castlevania-themed campaign for a group of PC's, I'd probably lean heavily on Simon's Quest to do it with. While the 8-bit NES wasn't quite up to the developers' ambitions, the game has some good bones to build off of.
I would probably have the players roll up original characters, with at least one being the next heir to the Belmont line. I'd have the game take place a few years after one of the "major" Dracula battles outlined in the main series, and have the Belmont player character's relative be suffering from the same curse Simon did: The wounds taken in his battle against Dracula are not healing. He is slowly dying. As his condition worsens, he has visions of becoming a creature of the night. A fortune-teller reveals the truth. If he dies before the next full moon, he will become a vessel for Dracula to be re-born, stronger than ever. The only way to lift the curse is to bring Dracula's spirit back into its previous body. But Dracula's minions have scattered his remains, to ensure that his curse will run its course.
Honestly, the only major difference in the set-up would be that the "cursed" Belmont wouldn't be accompanying the PCs. I'd hole him up in the basement of a church, surrounded by garlic and crosses, with monks praying over him day and night. It would then be up to the group of relatively green and inexperienced adventurers to run a desperate race against the clock, with only minimal guidance from their mentor.
(I'd also make sure that the enemy kidnapped the cursed Belmont as the night of the full moon approached, giving the PC's one more thing to worry about. But that's just me...)
Anyway, there are a few resources I'd recommend using here. First and foremost is A Guide to Transylvania, which I mentioned back in my Alucard post. The PDF is available on DriveThruRPG for about eight bucks. The crunch inside is AD&D 2e specific, but everything else is system agnostic. This book details everything from Transylvanian history, to peasant superstitions, to secret societies. No other supplement will help you fill in the details of the Transylvanian countryside as well as this one.
The second (more expensive) resource is the current D&D 5e Curse of Strahd campaign book, which is an update and expansion of the original Ravenloft module. Why this one instead of the (many) older ones? First, it's widely available in hardcopy. And while I'm not completely in love with what I've seen of 5e's rules, you just can't deny that Wizards of the Coast puts out a high quality product these days. This thing will survive some wear and tear at the table. Second (and more importantly), it maps out and expands the land of Barovia far beyond what the older editions did.
The third (completely free) resource is the Transylvania map that appeared in the old NES Game Atlas. A high-quality scan is available here at castlevaniadungeon.net.
The simplest, easiest way to take care of mapping the Transylvania countryside is just to use the foldout map that comes with Curse of Strahd and swap out the names. For example, swap out the starting village of Jova from Simon's Quest with the Village of Barovia from Curse of Strahd. Swap out Yomi—the nearly-abandoned town just outside Castlevania—with the destroyed village of Berez.
While this won't be 100% faithful to the geography on the Castlevania map, enough of the landmarks in Simon's Quest have a rough Barovian equivalent to make it work. Below are some suggestions, with corresponding map and page references.
Castlevania Location / Barovia Location / Curse of Strahd Foldout Map Location / Curse of Strahd Page Reference
Town of Jova (Area 1) / Village of Barovia / Location E / Page 40 - 48
Town of Aljiba (Area 16) / Village of Valliki / Location N / Page 95 - 124
Yuba Lake (Area 14) / Lake Zarovich / Location L / Page 38
Town of Veros (Area 6) / Village of Krezk / Location S / Page 143 - 156
Town of Yomi (Area 48) / Ruins of Berez / Location U / Page 161 - 166
Laruba Mansion (Area 36) / Wachterhaus / N/A (Located in Vallaki) / Page 110 - 115
Brahm Mansion (Area 21) / Argynvostholt / Location Q / Page 129 - 142
That should be enough to get the idea. That said, I'd probably also swap out some of the obviously non-European names with some real-world Transylvanian ones. Targoviste for Aljiba, for example.
One pro to this approach is that it requires relatively little prep time, especially for an inexperienced DM. Curse of Strahd has plenty of fleshed-out NPCs, side-quests, and description boxes for just about every building and room, if you decide to use them. You can use the encounters, too. Stat conversions from 5e to LotFP are simple: Just use the closest equivalent monster from the free Basic Fantasy Roleplaying Game, and add two to the creature's Armor Class. Don't sweat the other details.
Me? I probably wouldn't go that far. I'd probably just use the maps, crib or ad-lib all of the descriptions from the Transylvania Guide, and wing it with the NPCs and encounters. Similarities aside, Castlevania and Ravenloft are two different properties, with two entirely different feels to them. Relying too heavily on the published material just means you're playing Curse of Strahd. Which is okay. But it isn't Castlevania.
Which, of course, leaves open the question of Castlevania itself.
The Castle Ravenloft layout in Curse of Strahd is unchanged from the original I:6 Ravenloft module. It makes a perfectly serviceable stand-in for Dracula's Castle, provided you're taking your inspiration from the first couple of games. But if you want something closer to the sprawling, changing, living embodiment of Chaos featured in Symphony of the Night and most of the later games, you'd be better off creating your own funhouse-style Mega-dungeon. As with anything, which you choose will depend heavily on your group, their preferences, and their play style.
Before I close this installment out—and since I'm already mining Castlevania II for ideas—I'm going to give some sample stats for that game's two Boss monsters. For Carmilla, I used the Basic Fantasy Roleplaying Game version of the Vampire, with almost no modifications. For Death, I re-skinned the BFRPG Lich, added a bunch of Hit Dice, and swapped out his spell casting for a handful of specific, spell-like abilities.
If neither one seems challenging enough, both are easy enough to scale up in power. After all, when it comes to "end game" content, you're bound to have a pretty high level party. Watching them effortlessly steamroll the final bosses would be sort of anticlimactic. If that's a concern, my personal preference is to creatively choose the location for the encounter.
Instead of meeting Carmilla in her vampire lair right away, why not have the PC's encounter her at a masquerade ball, using the powers of her enchanted mask to appear as one of the living? Force them to use roleplaying and guile to maneuver her to a place they can fight her without harming innocents. What about having the PC's run into Death on the grounds of an old battlefield or cemetery? He could raise dozens of allies among the dead, forcing even the most powerful group of PCs into a pitched battle for survival.
Granted, if you're planning to use Castlevania II as your template, you could always just let the PC's walk right by them with no consequence...
(Note: the Lamentations of the Flame Princess rules assume ascending armor class and a base, unarmored AC of 12. If using these creatures with a system that has a base AC of 10, simply subtract 2.)
CARMILLA
Alignment: Chaotic
Armor Class: 21
Hit Dice: 9 (attack bonus +8)
No. of Attacks: 1 weapon or special
Damage: 1d8, or by weapon, or special
Movement: 40' or 60' (fly)
No. Appearing: 1 (Unique)
Save as: Lvl 9 Fighter
Morale: 11
Treasure Type: Special
XP: 1,225
Beautiful, vain, and cruel, the aristocratic vampire Carmilla is one of Dracula's most ambitious servants. Famous for her inventive and sadistic tortures, she is best known for bathing in the blood of young women. She possesses Carmilla's Mask, a powerful, cursed artifact.
Like all vampires, Carmilla casts no shadow and no reflection. She cannot cross running water, and may not enter another's home unless invited. She cannot tolerate the strong odor of garlic, and will recoil from a mirror or from a cross presented with conviction (for more information on these weaknesses, see the Vampire, p. 124 of the Basic Fantasy Roleplaying Game).
Carmilla is immune to Sleep, Charm, and Hold spells. If unarmed, she will treat her hands like claws, raking her target for 1d8 damage. When armed, her vampiric strength gives her an additional +3 to damage when using melee weapons. Her bite (though seldom used in combat) inflicts 1d3 damage, and drains one level of energy from her target for each round she continues to feed. Feeding places her in a vulnerable position, and she suffers a -5 to her Armor Class.
Victims reduced to 0 hit points by Carmilla's feeding die, and they will rise as vampires during the next sunset. These new vampires are permanently under Carmilla's control, and always act as if under a Charm spell.
Carmilla can command common nocturnal creatures. Once per day, she can summon 10d10 rats, 5d4 giant rats, 10d10 bats, 3d6 giant bats, or 3d6 wolves. The creatures must be nearby to be summoned. Once called, they arrive in 2d6 rounds and obey her commands for 1 hour. If she chooses, Carmilla can also assume the form of a giant bat or a giant wolf at will.
In addition to the above abilities, Carmilla also shares the common vampire's Charm gaze, which her victims can save vs Spell to resist. Unlike her more common brethren, Carmilla's charm is exceptionally powerful, imposing a -3 penalty rather than the standard -2.
Carmilla cannot be harmed by non-magical weapons. Exposing her to direct sunlight for more than 1 round destroys her, and submerging her in running water causes her to lose 1/3 of her Hit Points per round for three rounds, with death occurring on the third round. Any other method of reducing her HP to 0 merely incapacitates her, causing her to fall into an apparently death-like state. But if her body is not exposed to sunlight, submerged in running water, or burned, she will begin to regenerate 1d8 hours later, at a rate of 1 hp per turn.
Carmilla's Mask (Artifact)
This artifact is a smooth, silver mask, closely resembling the kind commonly worn during masquerade balls. When the mask is placed onto a human or a dhampir, dozens of hollow, silver spikes appear in the inside, causing it to latch onto the victim's face, and inflicting 1d3 damage. Each round the victim is prevented from removing the mask, it drains 1 energy level, feeding as a vampire, until the victim is reduced to 0 Hit Points. Once dead, the victims do not rise as vampires.
If the mask is freshly fed, bloody tears will pool in the corner of its eyes, and for the next 1d12 hours it will convey several abilities on any vampire that wears it. While wearing the mask, the vampire casts both a shadow and a reflection. Garlic, holy symbols, and holy water have no effect. The vampire may enter any home with no invitation, cross running water, and even walk in the sunlight—although this last will still be uncomfortable.
Additionally, victims of the vampire's Charm gaze suffer a further -2 penalty to their saving throw.
DEATH
Alignment: Chaotic
Armor Class: 26
Hit Dice: 15 (attack bonus +10)
No. of Attacks: 1 touch, weapon.
Damage: 1d8 touch+drain, by weapon.
Movement: 30' or 60' (fly)
No. Appearing: 1 (Unique)
Save as: Lvl 15 Magic User or Cleric (use lower)
Morale: 11
Treasure Type: Special
XP: 3,150
Death is Dracula's top lieutenant. Fiercely loyal to his master, Death will fight to protect him at all costs. Death's actual nature is unknown, although he is believed to be an evil manifestation of pure Chaos. His physical form resembles that of the classical "Grim Reaper," a skeletal body wrapped in a tattered cloak. He carries Death's Scythe, an artifact-level magical weapon.
Upon first encountering Death, all intelligent, living creatures must save vs Spell or flee in terror for 2d6 rounds. Even on subsequent encounters, Death's gaze is terrifying. All creatures that meet it must make a save vs. Spell or be paralyzed with fright for 2d4 rounds. Dhampirs, due to their half-undead nature, get a +2 bonus to this check.
Death prefers to attack with his scythe when possible. If forced to make a physical attack, his touch causes 1d8 points of damage and drains 1d4 points of Constitution, while simultaneously healing him for the equivalent amount.
The Constitution loss is permanent. It can only be healed by the casting of a Restoration spell, at a rate of 1 point per casting. If a character's Constitution score falls to 0, he or she immediately dies, and rises the following round as a lesser wight. This creature is identical to the wight described on p. 126 of the Basic Fantasy Roleplaying Game, except its attack causes 1d4 points of damage and 1 point of Constitution loss. All characters killed and transformed into wights are considered permanently dead, and cannot be Raised. They may still be Reincarnated.
Death is able to cast Speak With Dead, Animate Dead, and Raise Dead at will. And while he rarely feels the need to disguise himself, he is able to do so with the aid of Polymorph Self. Additionally, Death is always treated as having an active True Seeing spell cast on his person. For purposes of spell duration and saving throws, Death's caster level is 20.
Death is immune to all non-magical weapons. Like all skeletons, Death only takes half damage from bladed weapons, and only one point from arrows, bolts, or sling stones (plus any applicable magical bonus). Additionally, he is immune to Sleep, Charm, and Hold spells. Death cannot be turned by the cleric's Turn Undead spell.
Death cannot be permanently killed. When reduced to 0 Hit Points, Death's physical form is destroyed, and his spirit re-joins the primordial Chaos outside the world. After 1d10 months, Death will Reincarnate on the physical plane, although in a weakened form equivalent to a wraith (see Basic Fantasy Roleplaying Game, p. 127). He must then drain the equivalent life force of 2x his normal Hit Dice (a combined 30 levels) in order to regain his full strength and powers.
Death's Scythe (+3 Great Weapon)
Like Death himself, Death's Scythe is believed to be an evil manifestation of Chaos. In combat, Death's Scythe delivers 1d10 damage, with an additional +3 magical damage bonus. On any natural attack roll of 18 or better, the target must save vs Magical Device or die instantly. Any mortal being who attempts to touch the handle of Death's Scythe must make the same saving throw, but at a -4 penalty.
3 times per day, Death's Scythe can create 1d3 Phantom Sickles. These are smaller, ghostly sickles that spin out towards their intended victim. The sickles last for 1d4 rounds, continuously attacking, and causing 1d6+1 damage per successful hit.
Creatures killed with Death's Scythe may not be Raised, but they may still be Reincarnated.

Gunmen Storm Abuja Orphanage Home, Abduct Seven Children, Guard, Housewives
Gunmen suspected to be kidnappers have invaded Rachael’s Orphanage Home opposite UBE Junior Secondary School in Naharati, Abaji Area Council, Abuja, abducting seven children.
According to The PUNCH, the attackers also abducted a security guard identified as Joseph Mathew, including two housewives; Rukaiyyat Salihu, and Suwaiba Momoh, during the attack on Saturday.
The names of the abducted orphans were given as Elizabeth Andrew, Dayo Udeh, Jacob Ukpas, Melody Ijeh, Benard Itim, Issac Mathew and Laruba Emmanuel.
A resident of the area told journalists that the gunmen, who came in large numbers, stormed the orphanage home on Saturday around 1am.
He said: “The gunmen came in large numbers and heavily armed. However, they did not shoot as they carried out the operation quietly before they proceeded to the neighbours’ houses.”
The spokesman for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command, Maryam Yusuf, confirmed the incident.
Yusuf said security agencies had been deployed to the forest to rescue the victims.
She said, “We are working hard to rescue them and apprehend the perpetrators. Already, we have rescued one of the hostages and we want to assure that the rest would also be rescued unhurt.”

High debt profile: Stop borrowing, tackle mass killings, #RevolutionNow tells Buhari.
New Post has been published on https://thebiafrastar.com/high-debt-profile-stop-borrowing-tackle-mass-killings-revolutionnow-tells-buhari/
High debt profile: Stop borrowing, tackle mass killings, #RevolutionNow tells Buhari.
Members of the #RevolutionNow movement demanding good governance in the country on Wednesday protested in the Federal Capital Territory, Lagos, Ondo, Osun and Ogun states.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
The leaders of the movement, who said the protest was held to mark the first anniversary of the group, stated that security agencies arrested no fewer than 91 protesters.
However, the country’s mounting debt profile featured in the anniversary as two of the movement’s conveners, in separate interviews with The PUNCH on Wednesday evening, said the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd), must halt further borrowings in order not to mortgage Nigeria’s future.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
The group also advised the President to stop killings in the North-West and the North-East.
Recall that a co-convener of the group, Omoyele Sowore, was arrested in August 2019 for planning the #RevolutionNow protest.
The Federal Government accused him of attempting to overthrow the regime of Buhari and subsequently detained him for over 100 days.
He was released on December 24, 2019 on a condition that he should not join mass gatherings or protests.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
But despite Sowore’s absence, members of the movement protested in Lagos, Abuja, Abeokuta and Osogbo.
In the FCT, the group staged a protest at the Unity Fountain, Maitama, Abuja, on Wednesday morning, carrying banners with various inscriptions such as, ‘Yes to living wage;’ ‘Free Lance Corporal Martin now;’ ‘N2.2 billion per kilometre for fence is unacceptable,’ and others.
But the rally was disrupted by security agents, who assaulted the activists and arrested them.
Those arrested were taken to the Eagle Square for arraignment before a mobile court, but they were released after the presiding Magistrate Idayat Akanni failed to show up.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
But speaking on the demands of the coalition in an interview with The PUNCH, a co-convener, Deji Adeyanju, said the campaigners were concerned by the mounting Chinese loans.
He stated, “We are absolutely concerned by the Chinese loans and the revelations from the National Assembly that the sovereignty of our country is being ceded to China. It is most regrettable and sad. In fact, we are perplexed.
“Every sane Nigerian should be concerned and bothered about this development and we are telling the President to immediately halt further borrowings.”
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Adeyanju argued that it might be difficult for the nation to repay the loans which he said might be looted by the political class, citing the revelations on the alleged multi-billion naira looting at the Niger Delta Development Commission.
Adeyanju noted, “The more loans we take, the more our currency is weakened and the harder it would be for us to service the loans because the debt management office is complaining that we can barely service the interest rates.
“And what are the loans being used for? In a situation where the loans were being taken so they could be looted in the NDDC or used to renovate a 27kms perimeter fence of the University of Maiduguri at a cost of N64bn makes no economic sense.”
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
“There is no way you look at it and you would not be bothered. We should be looking inward instead of going on a borrowing spree. We must collectively call on the President to stop borrowing as it would further destroy the economy. The mindless looting that is being superintended by the current President needs to stop.”
He said no fewer than 60 members of the group were arrested in Abuja.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
“Our demands are very simple: they should end insecurity in Katsina, Sokoto, Southern Kaduna and in the North-East; the killing of our troops and the rising death figures must be stopped,” Adeyanju insisted.
Speaking to The PUNCH, another co-convener, Baba Aye, said, “We are not okay with the debt profile of Nigeria. When you talk of an economy that works for the masses and not a few, issues of debt profile and the Gross Domestic Product to debt profile apply to it.
“The issue of loans is bad because it is the working class that always bears the cost of repayment. We really don’t need most of these loans if certain economic measures are put in place. For instance, tax evasion is still a big issue in this country.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
In a separate statement signed by Aye and Mr. Gbenga Komolafe, the coalition said the #RevolutionNow protests would continue until the objectives are achieved.
It added, “Our demands remain: an economy that works for the masses; no to an economy which throws 90 million people into poverty, while just five people own N11tn; an effective and democratic end to insecurity, poverty, discrimination, repression by government and manipulation of ethnic differences by the rich elite are the roots of perpetual insecurity.”
Addressing the protesters earlier at the Unity Fountain, a lawyer, Pelumi Olajengbesi, said there was a need for a leadership change, noting that Nigerians must take their destiny in their own hands.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
He said, “Our demand today is there is a need for us to have a revolution.There is a need for us to have a change of leadership, leaders who have a clear focus, who have the passion and the welfare and interest of the people. This cannot be achieved by the charlatans in authority.
“There is a need for us to allow people who are determined, who have the interest of people to take over the leadership. That is why we are saying no to the APC (All Progressives Congress) and the PDP (Peoples Democratic Party), no to all these rascals in political authority.”
But the #RevolutionNow protesters arrested by the joint security personnel at the Unity Fountain, Maitama, for allegedly violating the COVID-19 health protocols.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
While the activists assembled at the fountain, the Joint Task Force on Enforcement of COVID-19 Restrictions swooped on them, forced them to lie on the ground and subsequently whisked them away.
The team comprising soldiers, policemen, Air Force, Federal Road Safety Corps and Security and Civil Defence Corps officers took the protesters to a mobile court sitting at the Eagle Square where they were to be arraigned for COVID-19 restrictions order violation.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
However, Magistrate Idayat Akanni, who was to preside over the case had several other cases in another court and did not sit, prompting the security operatives to release the protesters.
An official of the FCT Ministerial Task Team on COVID-19, Ikharo Attah urged the protesters to comply with the health protocols for the good of all.
He said that the protesters violated the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 guidelines on physical distancing, noting that most of them did not wear face masks.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
But the General Secretary of United Action for Democracy and leading member of the #TakeItBack movement, Kunle Ajayi, complained that they were arrested for demanding a better country.
In Lagos, a journalist and activist, Agba Jalingo, and 18 other protesters were arrested by men of the Lagos State Police Command during the protest in Ikeja.
Jalingo’s driver, Clement Laruba, confirmed the development when one of our correspondents called Jalingo’s number to get further updates on the protest.
(adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push();
Laruba stated, “He left his phone with me and went to protest in Ikeja. He has been arrested by the police. I am his driver, he was with those protesting during the #RevolutionNow protest. I am currently on my way to the Area F Police Division in Ikeja.
“The protest started around 9am but I stayed where the car was parked while he left for the protest. But he later called me with someone’s number to inform me that he had been arrested.”
The PUNCH gathered that protesters, under the aegis of the #RevolutionNow movement, stormed the under-bridge area of Ikeja early on Wednesday to protest the deplorable state of the country.

During the protest, which lasted for four hours youths, old men and women, carried placards and chanted solidarity songs as they repeatedly went around the roundabout located under the bridge.
As they were protesting, men of the state police command, who were said to have laid a siege to the Allen Roundabout, suddenly advanced towards the direction of the protesters and released teargas canisters to disperse them.
An eyewitness, who identified himself simply as Rasaq, said some of the protesters ran into the Computer Village while the policemen gave them a hot chase.

Notably among the personalities involved in the protest around Ikeja-Along was Agba Jalingo.
In a viral footage, Jalingo, while leading some of the protesters along the axis, was heard saying, “No matter how they arrest us, no matter how they chase us, we will not be afraid of their Black Marias, we will not be afraid of their rifles and teargas.”
Jalingo, who spoke to one of our correspondents at the Area F Police Division, Ikeja said they were protesting against bad governance when the police arrested 19 of them.

In Osogbo, the Osun State capital, seven members of the #RevolutionNow group were arrested during the protest.
The protesters were arrested in front of Correspondents’ chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Osun State Council, while preparing to address newsmen.
The protesters were led to the chapel by Olawale Bakare, who was tried alongside Sowore, for engaging in a protest organised by the group in 2019.

Bakare had met Richard Akintade, the Chairman of the Correspondents’ chapel around 10am, and informed him of plans to address his members.
Akintade told our correspondent that because the chapel was having a meeting, he told Bakare to bring his address and wait for the meeting to end.

While waiting for the newsmen to end their meeting, policemen arrived the scene and engaged the protesters wearing orange colour caps and carrying placards, in conversation.
One of the protesters, Oluwadunsin Olowolafe, who was addressing members of the group and people around, said the leadership of the country had not met expectations of Nigerians.
Although some policemen were present at the scene, armed men of the Department of State Services later arrived and arrested Olowolafe and six others.

Counsel for the protesters, Mr. Alfred Adegoke, told The PUNCH that seven of them were being held by the DSS.
Adegoke said he was however informed that despite the detention order, application for a bail could still be entertained.

Glenn took the lead with Ayla. He could tell she was still troubled by the incident with Cyrus. He honestly wasn’t sure how he felt at the moment. While he no longer felt any deep emotional connection to Cyrus, Glenn still felt a sense of sorrow for his death. It would be up to him to tell the king and queen what had happened.
“Why do you think Cyrus was here?” Janus asked suddenly as they walked down the tunnel. Glenn glanced back at Janus and said, “Your guess is as good as mine…“
Why had it been Cyrus? Of all the men who could use a sword in his era, why had it been him? Glenn wondered if Cyrus had been exiled for trying to attack him but had that knight seen what happened? That would have meant the knight could have seen both Janus and him use magic. Glenn quickly pushed that worry out of his mind. He would just have to deal with that possibility later.
The group encountered a few more dinosaurs as they made their way through the tunnels and castle ruins. The creatures posed little threat to the group and Robo suggested that they were weakened by the lack of resources in the caverns and ruins, no doubt depleted after eons isolated from the surface.
The route through the caves and ruins seemed fairly linear. At one point they encountered a door that was fashioned to look like a dinosaur’s skull but Robo and Ayla were able to force it open.
Heading down the stairs, Ayla realized the area was very familiar. At the bottom of the stairs, was the room where she, Crono and Marle had freed the people from Laruba.
“How deep do you think this goes?” Marle asked as they walked by the cell and around the corner.
“Hopefully not too much deeper or we’ll need to camp out down here,” Glenn remarked.
The corridor lead to an archway. Beyond that was another larger cavern. Glowing mushrooms dotted the cave walls, giving off a faint green glow. Ayla could see a glimmer of sunlight in the distance beyond what looked like a giant rust-colored boulder. Maybe it was the lighting in the cave but it almost looked like a slumbering dinosaur. She also noticed iridescent light that seemed to be reflecting off something behind the boulder onto the cave walls beyond.
“I think the shell is near, let’s hurry,” she said.
The group entered the cavern and that’s when they heard a low growling breath. Looking around, no animal could be seen.
Glenn readied the Masamune and said, “Be on your guard.”
Everyone nodded and readied their own weapons as they walked further into the cavern. The strange breathing sound grew louder as they neared the boulder. Robo scanned the cavern for other signs of life. Just as his gaze fell upon the boulder, Ayla, Glenn and Crono were beginning to pass it.
Just as Robo was about to warn everyone that the boulder was actually alive, the ground shuddered slightly and a low growl was heard before Ayla looked towards the boulder and found herself staring into a large milky-white eye.
The giant reptilian beast rose to its feet and opened its mouth with teeth the size of daggers. It let out a screeching roar and went to bite Ayla, but Glenn quickly pushed himself in front of her and swung the Masamune at it as Doreen awoke and the shield appeared.
As giant reptilian beast reared back in pain getting slashed across the snout, Crono grabbed Ayla and ran back to the group, barely dodging the beast’s tail as it lashed it around. They rejoined the group as Robo fired a laser at it to draw it away from Glenn.
“Isn’t that the same kind of dinosaur Azala had?” Marle exclaimed.
Ayla nodded, “It looks like a Tyranno.”
Glenn hurried over to rejoin the group, breathing a thanks to Robo for drawing the creature’s attention. He glanced back at the Tyranno and muttered, “How can something so huge be down here?”
“We can worry when it’s dead,” Crono replied as he readied the runes to send a volley of lightning at the Tyranno.
The Tyranno reared back in pain and roared at the group before charging at them. Marle quickly cast an ice spell and froze one of the Tyranno’s legs in place, giving everyone the chance to get away from it and retreat back towards the tunnel that had brought them to the cave.
“We need to be careful or we’ll cause another cave in,” Robo cautioned. “I would advise against any explosive spells.. and engaging in close combat.”
Crono quickly cast another lightning bolt to stun the Tyranno. “That kind of limits us…”
The Tyranno let out shrieking roar and struggled to pull its leg free of the ice. Just as it finally freed its foot, Janus cast another ice spell and tripped it. The reptilian beast crashed to the cavern floor.
Glenn could see the rainbow shell embedded in stone beyond the Tyranno as it struggled to its feet. Seeing a ravine next to where the Tyranno had been slumbering, Glenn got an idea. He could feel his prosthetic beginning to feel slow and heavy. He knew he didn’t have much magic left in him to use the Masamune or cast a spell, but maybe it was enough for what he could do.
“I’m going to try and push it to that ledge with a spell,” Glenn declared. “Hit it with everything you have and it should fall.”
Stepping forward, he used the Masamune to trace a massive rune in the air. Spekkio had taught him the spell before he received the arm. It made the flood of water he had summoned in the past look like a small creek.
Glenn took a deep breath as he spoke the spell’s name. “Shkval.”
Everyone watched as a massive wave of water appeared before Glenn. The mass of water seemed to leap at the Tyranno and slam down upon it. The water pushed the Tyranno right to the edge of the cliffside.
Ayla took the opportunity to throw a large rock at the Tyranno, hitting it in the side, causing it to rear back. Lucca and Marle joined in with Robo in shooting at the Tyranno as Ayla threw another rock at it. The Tyranno shook its head in fury as it stumbled and stepped back to get away from being attacked. Just as Glenn had hoped, it stumbled and fell off the side of the cliff. It roared and screeched as it fell into the ravine below, landing with a sickening thud, followed by silence.
His magic spent, Glenn dropped the Masamune and started to fall forward before Janus caught him. He felt his body break out in a cold sweat as he tried to catch his breath and thank Janus.
“Fuck… I pushed myself too far…” he cursed silently. “Still… that cursed thing is gone...”
Glenn tried to reach to over to remove his prosthetic as it felt like dead weight on his arm. However, his own body felt too weak to move. It occurred to Glenn that this is how Janus must have felt after he had cast that spell back on Death Peak. If he wasn’t so out of breath, he would have chuckled at the irony of his situation.
Janus looked at Glenn and asked, “When did you learn that spell?”
“Spekkio taught me…. After you left with Ayla to get the dreamstone,” Glenn admitted after a moment, breathing heavily. “I knew it was going to take a lot out of me… but it was the only way I could think to push that beast where we needed it…. I’ll be okay. I just need a few minutes.”
Crono nodded and sheathed his katana. “We’ll to check out the shell while you rest.”
