Should you fight my characters? Charr Flavor!
Inspired by @bluebudgie I thought the formula of this was so rad I wanted to make it for my own kiddos!
Tumblr media
Sigilis Forgemuzzle
Fight Music: Very Noise - Igorrr
Should you fight Sigilis? Sure! I mean she loves fighting so if you're trying to teach her a lesson you'd be failing in that area. Yes in that sometimes she gets too full of herself as a brawler. So sure go for it as long as your intent is to fight not kill. If you're going for KILL please realize you will have a 9ft 650lb blood frenzied Galla coming after you for the rest of your days.
Who initiates the battle? She does! Likely she initiates it by saying something rude or unpleasant to you and then dares you to do something about it. It would be better to do this someplace with others, in case you need back up.
Who would win? If you can get her from a distance it's an easy fight for you, but you're probably out of luck in melee. Disassembling tanks has lead to some scary upper body strength.
Tumblr media
Galla Strangleforge
Fight music: They Hit Without Warning - Edward Bradshaw
Should you fight Galla? No. For your own health and if you value your organs being in your body, no. She keeps to herself, keeps a cool head, and would rather not engage if possible given her tendency for frenzy. Out of all of my kiddos, she is the scariest in terms of sheer strength and combat ability.
Who initiates the battle? You would have to really REALLY try to get her to fight you. And honestly if you're trying that hard you have it coming. She's logical and calm - not one who gets worked up easily.
Who would win? Galla. Years of pit fighting and then being the Pact's combat instructor means she knows the dirty way of fighting, the survival way, and the proper way. And will use all of them. The word Strangle in Strangleforge is not just there for looks. If you're lucky she'll leave enough left of you for your family to claim.
The rest is under the cut to save your dash!
Tumblr media
Elder Parteira (Party)
Battle music: Rise to Glory - Earth
Should you fight Party? Do you want to fight the village midwife? Do you want to fight the one that's done almost all the rearing of cubs for some 30 plus years? I mean she can be testy and crabby at times. But you realize everyone born in her village is going to come after you now that they are an adult. Would not advise it.
Who initiates the battle? Likely you did, she doesn't have time for wasting energy on skirmishes, she's got cubs to feed and dams to help.
Who would win? You probably have better mobility than she does, her joints aren't what they used to be. But get yourself cornered and you're in for a good walloping. Not to hurt you, but to teach you some damn manners.
Tumblr media
Valens Forgedance
Battle Music: Bossa Dorado - Dave Martone
Should you fight Valens? They can be a prankster at times and it can be annoying. A fair fight as a show of strength would not be amiss, just be careful that you aren't too hard on her. There are the 3 aforementioned Charr that will have your head if you actually hurt her.
Who initiates the battle? I think it would probably be her wanting to spar and test her abilities out that's she's learned. Typically it wouldn't come to you trying to fight them because they've pissed you off there are some steps in the middle.
Who would win? What Valens lacks in strength she makes up for with agility. She would be dancing and evading all of your attacks until you get tired - but if you managed to get a single good hit in on her, you would probably win. She would very enthusiastically shake your hand for you winning - good fight! Good fight!
Tumblr media
Larthi Glimmerforge
Battle music: World Turns - Rival Consoles
Should you fight Larthi? I mean it wouldn't hurt anything, it's existence is already sort of a blip in the world, a coding error if you will. I can't see why you would want to though, all of it's moves are defensive and blocking with shields and time manipulation to not be where your attacks land. So should you? I mean you can, but you're not going to really gain anything from it.
Who initiates the battle? You would have to, it doesn't do fighting. Having witnessed the end of all things puts conflict into a perspective of being pointless.
Who would win? No one. I mean it's a 50/50 chance that it will get ported to another place in time in the middle of your fight so basically no one wins. On the chance that it does stay around, you'd likely get bored of attacking and having it not do anything. It's not like Larthi even evades it just blocks every one of your attacks. You would get bored. It would already be bored.
Tumblr media
Philetus Hearthmend
Battle music: Bone Marrow (Instrumental) - Protest The Hero
Should you fight Phil? The only reason you have to fight Phil is if you're a Charr fundamentalist who still thinks all Flame Legion is evil and wicked, or you're a human Separatist. Otherwise, no don't fight him, he's a big soft goofy guy.
Who initiates the battle? You would have to go above and beyond to do something to make him fight you - like attack someone he cares for. He doesn't always even get that someone is trying to start something, to be honest.
Who would win? It depends on why the fight started. If you were just trying to piss him off, then you would likely win because he would take it easy on you and let you beat him. But If you were doing something that made him go into protective of others mode (first of all I have questions) but then no you are not winning. He is a Flame Shaman Elementalist, that only uses Fire and has been mastering it his whole life. He can hold magma with his bare paws and shape it into weapons, with no injuries to himself. Chances are you are going to have spires of solidifying magma piercing you like a pincushion.

I have a few kids that are a bit lore wobbly, I think I've mentioned them before though so if a repeat is boring, sorry! Under the cut to save peoples dash.
The first of the group is beloved bog boy Naechdion (he/him) or Dion for short. He's lore breaking because I had made a whole separate timeline for him when he actually gets to fulfill his role. But then didn't like how mean it made him ;;
Originally, he was going to be the Voice of Mordremoth, since Mordremoth can't communicate to non-sylvari in a direct manner. Dion was going to be the mouthpiece, to be able to speak the Dragon's will to those who aren't planty.
Which is why he's canon wise closer to the height of Mordremoths Champions (smaller than Axemaster Hareth aka Harry) height and why his voice is very strange. He wasn't supposed to have his own voice (why would you give a mouthpiece it's own voice, that's conflicting) so he basically had to force himself to make close approximations of sounds based off of a half memory. Through the Dream, he was still partially connected to, he got bits and pieces of speech.
Next is Caonai (she/her) who breaks the lore because she is from another Tree, the now deceased Shiverpeaks Tree which predates the Pale Tree by more than 50 years. The Dream was still in its infancy and hazy development then so there wasn't a great pool of memories or experiences to draw from. Instead it was basic survival and how to not die in the far north. Whereas the Pale Tree based it's saplings off of Humans, the Shiverpeaks tree based hers off of Jotun.
Cao is also much larger and closer to Norn sized than the Maguuma Sylvari.
Next, I would argue Toraedh (any pronouns) is lore breaking. I have a lot of beef with how Nightmare is presented at times given that I think it's more of a spectrum than a black or white fixed (it can be black or white but the default isn't that).
They are half in half out as it were, split right down the middle. This has made his life really honestly quite shit in many ways, as most Dreamers tend to see any hint of Nightmare as being *all Nightmare*. Using this as best as she can to ruin nefarious plans while also saving willing Courtiers from execution from the Warden's. They play both sides to help others as much as they can and are hated for it by both as a result.
It makes for a very conflicted person and a very challenging life, but their nature at heart has always been to help. Despite their bravado/false charisma and shifty behavior - she is a very kind hearted and understanding person. There's hardly anyone you'd meet that's possible of being less judgemental.
We also have some of the newer kids, like Initiator Phiaskko (she/her)! She is quite simply, absolutely cursed. Research and studying ancient relics from the conglomerate of islands from the Mists has its downsides. In a streak of amusement her curse doesn't impact her directly? She causes accidents and misfortune around her. So the rest of her krewe left her because strange accidents would end up crippling and killing many of them.
Though to her credit, she isn't fully aware of it being a curse. To her it's all weird coincidence, statistical improbability, curses are superstitious and she doesn't abide by that sort of thinking.
Larthi Glimmerforge (it/it's) is also very lore breaking. It's a Chronomancer, displaced in time. After the mysterious death of it's 'bandmates (which was a direct result of time magic - weird things happen with time) which the Legions blamed it for, it became a Gladium. Though it did manage to join the Forge warband at least on paper.
It's system of time magic is one of equal sum but placed differently. Larthi can suppress when it is going to jump either forward or backward in time but that number isn't discarded. So here's halfway of an example to try to make sense ^^;
Say it was going to jump forward by 50 years. But it very much doesn't want to! (It doesn't know how long the time gaps will be). So it suppresses it and doesn't jump forward at all. Those 50 years are added to the next jump that happens, either forward or backwards, since time is a loop not a line.
The next time, it is going to get ported backwards but can't suppress it. Well originally for this backwards jump it was only going to be a few months but because it suppresses it, it goes back 50 years and a few months. This can accumulate too! So if it suppresses it for too long that could be 100's of years of build up (there is no cap) that gets used the next time it can't suppress it.
As a result, Larthi is detached to the point of fatalism. Why bother having friends when at any moment you could be 20 years ahead of them or port to before they were born? Why own anything? It can only take the shirt on its back with them. Why bother?
Also it's Mesmer magic is not butterflies but in the shape of dozens of white mice. Which creeps some people out, I suppose.
I would also reckon that Bhruizz (xe/xem/xir is lore breaking. We don't hear much of Asura who aren't throwing themselves at research and intellectual things. Bhruizz is a drifter, for all intents and purposes, taking odd jobs and not being stuck with a krewe or a calling. Xe has no 'title' or prefix. It's just Bhruizz and that's the way xe wants it.
Naturally, this doesn't incur a lot of respect from other Asura. Especially family (Mhonde being the only one who is supportive of xir choices). But xe is as chill as chill can be and one of the most down to earth, no scientific jargon using, approachable people around. Even a bit lazy with things, at times.
But beneath that there is such a strong amount of rage that it's very shocking when xir berzerker nature gets revealed. When xe gets set off, xe is terrifying. But honestly if you are trying to piss xem off that's on you - xe doesn't get worked up about much.
SHARE YOUR LORE-BREAKING GW2 CHARACTERS
We haven't done one of these in a while, and I miss em! Please, jump on here with a reblog and tell me all about your characters that break canon lore! Everyone, as usual, will get a response. for your charr folks for the oc grouping thingy--biggest fans of candy/sweets/pastries (and what types) vs not-so-big fans? :) @kerra-and-company
Ooo thank you for the ask! Let's see...
Biggest Sweet Tooth:
Valens - will and can eat their body weight in candy.
Phil - likes more maple flavored or earthy flavored sweets.
Larthi - enjoys cool sweets like ice cream!
Neutral on sweets:
Sigilis - will eat sweets if they are there but doesn't make a b-line for them.
Ordia - likes sweet tea but that's about it.
Zoticus - only really likes a mint or something after he eats not like 'proper' sweets.
Galla - doesn't really like them but if something is sweet, she won't refuse the food.
Dislikes sweets:
Elder Parteira - hurts her teeth to eat sugary things so she avoids it.
Vissenta - just finds them to be a bit underwhelming, she prefers spicy and savory.
Semni - doesn't have much in the way of taste anymore most of her taste buds have already gone caput so no point to eating them.

Larthi Glimmerforge (it/its) NB kiddo! - Unstuck in time and it is experiencing The Horrors of uncontrolled jumping forwards and backwards in time.
Tumblr media
Bhruizz (xe/xem) another NB kiddo!
A chill Berzerker who would rather be taking a nap than fighting things (as long as 'things' means actual risks and not just people picking on xir little brother, then xe is very much pro fighting).
I have a few others but don't have good screens of them rn to be able to share!
Hey GW2 peeps hit me up with your trans characters o/
Drop a picture, tell me about them, whatever you like!

Do any of your characters canonically use skiffs? If they do, is it more out of necessity or do they genuinely enjoy being out on the water?
Ty for the ask!
A few of them do, mainly out of necessity. Larthi, my unstuck in time Chronomancer Charr, does. It learned how to handle a small vessel after being teleported to an Olmakhan fishing village for a few months (before it got sent back to right before The Searing). Managing to flee before things got spicy.
Likewise, Dhizzi, the ferryman, uses one to traverse in-between realms of the Mists. Think of them like access roads to different highways that take you to different subareas of the Mists. Many of these spiritual access roads are just open flat expanses of somthing like water (which is what the worlds primordial state was and also what the world returns to eventually, and Larthi has also visited it - though it isn't sure if it was the Before All or After All state). She uses a skiff because Alchemy preserve - who knows what touching the 'almost water but not quite' would do if you touched it as a living person.
Commander Ruby, however, just likes being out on the water and can use a skiff some. Mainly she's just on her skimmer though because it's her pet and friend, she loves that big squishy manatee a whole lot.

New Charr Kids!
Realized I haven't formally introduced my newest (impulse) kids yet! All of them are Charr. First up is...
Semni Keensnare (Ranger/Druid)
Tumblr media
An elderly, proud Gladium who outlived her whole Warband by sheer will alone. Most passed from combat and a few from age before her. She refuses to join any others even though the offers have been posed - simply because she is loyal to Her Warband. She has had the best and needs no others. Even if she is all that remains of it. One of the finest trappers, she lives off the land by herself in Diessa Plateau. She's standoffish and cranky but will help if she sees someone really struggling in the wilds.
Philetus Hearthmend (Elementalist/Weaver)
Tumblr media
A Flame Legion shaman who is part of the Mend Warband - a cluster of Flame who are working their hardest with Efram to keep up appearances and relationships between Flame and the other Legions. Most of his Warband does political engagements and discussions but Philetus (he goes by Phil) prefers a more hands on approach. Using his expertise in fire magic, he helps the common people by working on their stoves, ovens, and fireplaces. He's got a big heart and a small brain but is well meaning to a fault.
Larthi Glimmerforge (Mesmer/Chronomancer)
Tumblr media
The newest member of the Forge warband! A shy, solitary Mesmer who was assigned to the Forge under strange circumstances. Its previous Warband all disappeared and their bodies were never recovered. Despite all its efforts it can't recall what happened to them either. Larthi's control over its Chronomancer skills is still a work in progress which leads to it occasionally blinking forward or backwards in time for brief moments - startling everyone involved.

Larthi thoughts!
Esp in regards to @kerra-and-company's tags, it's skill with time magic has both gotten better and worse. When it was a cub, the spaces of time that it would just between were smaller - so instead of years, it could be minutes, hours, or at the most maybe a few days. As its own personal clock has sped up, so has the gaps of time.
Once it became aware of this time weirdness, it started to work on trying to control it and minimize the amount of time pushed forward or back. Which worked for a while but the time had to go *somewhere*.
This gets to be messy at times as it doesn't know how much time would have gone past. It works in reverse and forward too - when it tries to suppress going back the amount of time gets added.
Ex: Larthi is feels like it is going to jump forward suppresses the magic and only goes forward 5 years. The amount of time it was supposed to jump was 50 years.
(it doesn't know how much time it's going to be but for sake of example we do)
The next time it jumps forward through time those 45 years are added.
So next time if it was going to be again 50 years, suddenly it's become 95.
The same works in reverse as well. It feels like it's getting pulled backwards and tries to stop it? Well if it was originally only going to be pulled by 10 years and stops it entirely - the next time it goes back those 10 years get added on so suddenly its x+10.
