Nick Cannon divulged how much he pays in child support annually during a recent interview with entertainment blog The Neighborhood Talk. Now a father of eleven with his youngest child on the way, Cannon has been the subject of public criticism for years. 

His latest comments regarding money come in direct response to an estimate made last week by California family law attorney Goldie Schon. In conversation with The Sun, Schon guessed Cannon's yearly child support contributions were somewhere in the ballpark of $3 million. Because Cannon is a high-income earner, Schon said, California courts have "the right to deviate from the typical child support guidelines.” 

“If he is taking home somewhere upward of $5 million a year, you have to look at what it would take to have the children kept in the lifestyle of both parents...” she continued. "The lifestyle has to be the same with mom as it is with dad."

The following day, Cannon contested Schon's calculations, claiming: "I definitely spend a lot more than [$3 million] on my children annually… I don't plan to ever have to participate in the governmental system of child."

Please note that he doesn't actually "divulge" how much he pays, but totes just trust him, it's "a lot more" than $3million!

Earlier this year, the entertainer spoke to Men's Health about his involvement in his children's lives. 

“Contrary to popular belief, I’m probably engaged throughout my children’s day, more often than the average adult can be,” he said. “If I’m not physically in the same city with my kids, I’m talking to them before they go to school via FaceTime and stuff. And then when I am [in the same city, I’m] driving my kids to school, like making sure I pick ’em up. All of those things, making sure [I’m there for] all extracurricular activities. I’m involved in everything from coaching to having guitar lessons with my daughter every week.”

And last year, during an appearance on Power 106 Los Angeles, Cannon defended his decision to expand his family, likening himself to a “seahorse.” 

"Trust me, there's a lot of people I could've gotten pregnant that I didn't," he said. “The ones that got pregnant are the ones that were supposed to get pregnant… You only live once.”

Nick Cannon is currently expecting his 12th child with model Alyssa Scott. Cannon and Scott previously welcomed a son, Zen, who died of brain cancer in 2021. He also shares children with ex-wife Mariah Carey, Brittany Bell, Bri Tiesi, Abby de La Rosa, and LaNisha Cole.
