If there is one thing that I love, that is fish.
I am a big fan of fish and I am excited to try one of the specific, Maltese coastal cuisine, Lampuki Pie. It is a pie which is made out of fish with a medley of aromatic ingredients. Fresh tomatoes, onions, garlic, and fragrant herbs like parsley and basil infuse the filling with layers of flavor.

Als Teil des Fotografen-Teams habe ich versucht, die Atmosphäre in eindrucksvollen Bildern festzuhalten, die die Vielfalt und Schönheit der globalen Reiseziele hervorheben, insbesondere das charmante Malta.
Die Messe präsentierte Diskussionen über umweltbewussten Tourismus und die Rolle der Technologie in der Branche und setzte damit ein starkes Zeichen für die Zukunft des Reisens.

Malta stellte sich auf der ITB Berlin 2023 vor und zog zahlreiche Besucher in die Messehalle, um mehr über die vielfältige mediterrane Küche und die reiche kulturelle Vielfalt Maltas zu erfahren. Besonders bemerkenswert war die Anwesenheit von Clayton Bartolo, dem Tourismusminister Maltas, der den Besuchern die Vorzüge Maltas näherbrachte. WE TASTE AND WE LIKE!
A cultural mash-up of Arabs, Romans, French and English have all left their mark on Malta cuisine. Now, if you're a picky eater like us, you’ll probably wrinkle your nose more than one, starting with the national Malta dish: A traditional rabbit stew, stuffat tal-fenek. I know that sounds bad but actually it tasted pretty good.
Another must-see from Malta is the famous Pastizzi, a savory pastry filled with ricotta or mushy peas.
Lampuki pie was the dish that impressed us the most. As you know, Malta is an island so it is logical that many of the dishes came from the sea and Lampuki is one of them. Lampuki is a common fish caught around the island that is cooked in a delicious fish pie, containing potatoes, spinach, capers mint and olive oil.

we know that each country has its own culinary identity but we were able to find some similarities that made us think of Chile:
-Both countries have Mediterranean influences in their cuisine, which is reflected in the use of olive oil, herbs and fresh fish. 
-In Chile and Malta, vegetables are common ingredients in many dishes, although the varieties of vegetables used may be different due to climatic differences.
- And finally, in both countries, it is common to enjoy hot, hearty meals, especially during the colder months.

A quick post today about the food in Malta.
We did a food tour, a mix of history with key sights and in between we stopped and had food at various point. I unfortunately didn’t take a lot of pictures of the food.
Maltese cuisine is the result of a long relationship between the Islanders and the many civilisations who occupied the Maltese Islands over the centuries. This marriage of tastes has given Malta an eclectic mix of Mediterranean cooking.
Traditional Maltese food is rustic and based on the seasons. Look out for Lampuki Pie (fish pie), Rabbit Stew, Bragioli (beef olives), Kapunata, (Maltese version of ratatouille), and widow’s soup, which includes a small round of Gbejniet (sheep or goat’s cheese). On most food shop counters, you’ll see Bigilla, a thick pate of broad beans with garlic. The snacks that must be tried are ‘hobz biz-zejt’ (round of bread dipped in olive oil, rubbed with ripe tomatoes and filled with a mix of tuna, onion, garlic, tomatoes and capers) and pastizzi (flaky pastry parcel filled with ricotta or mushy peas).
While J was sampling the most popular locally brewed beer, Ċisk (pron. Ch-isk) I was drinking Kinnie a soft drink brewed from bitter oranges and extracts of wormwood and produced only in Malta and now I’m on a mission to find it in Paris.
