Another leopard trapped in Tirumala Repoted News
Another cheetah was caught by Bone on the walkway of Tirumala. The forest officials have detected the movement of the cheetah for the past week. A cheetah was trapped in a trap cage set up by the authorities at 2850 steps of Sri Lakshminarasimha Temple. It is noteworthy that this cheetah was also caught in the same area where it attacked the target. Officials revealed that six leopards have been captured so far. Two of them were released into the forest. The rest were kept in quarantine at SV Zoo. The authorities will also send the sample of the trapped leopard to the lab today. Meanwhile, after the tiger killed the child Lakshita, the authorities became alert and set up trap bones and captured them. If the man-eater tigers are caught, they try to move them to the zoo.

Narasimha Jayanti.
Vaishakha Shukla Chaturdashi is celebrated as Narasimha Jayanti. Lord Narasimha was the 4th incarnation of Lord Vishnu. On Narasimha Jayanti day Lord Vishnu appeared in the form of Narasimha, a half lion and half man, to kill Demon Hiranyakashipu.
The combination of Vaishakha Shukla Chaturdashi with Swati Nakshatra and weekday Saturday is considered highly auspicious to observe Narasimha Jayanti Vratam.
The rules and guidelines to observe Narasimha Jayanti fasting are similar to those of Ekadashi fasting. Devotees eat only single meal one day before Narasimha Jayanti. All type of grains and cereals are prohibited during Narasimha Jayanti fasting. Parana, which means breaking the fast, is done next day at an appropriate time.
On Narasimha Jayanti day devotees take Sankalp during Madhyahna (Hindu afternoon period) and perform Lord Narasimha Pujan during Sanyakal before sunset. It is believed that Lord Narasimha was appeared during sunset while Chaturdashi was prevailing. It is advised to keep night vigil and perform Visarjan Puja next day morning. The fast should be broken on next day after performing Visarjan Puja and giving Dana to Brahmin.

Lakshmi-Narasimha
The gopura of the Lakshminarasimha temple at Arkalgud, KA.
People are used to thinking of ancient structures, even elaborately carved sculptures, as bare stone, but back when they were made, they were invariably painted in colorful splendor. These sculptures date back to at least the 15th century, possibly the 9th, and were recently repainted. C'est magnifique!

Change and Multiply
Cancers are often linked to mutations in genes known as oncogenes, typically involved in regulating cell division. Among these, the gene Kras is implicated in over 25% of cancers, particularly in the lung, colon and pancreas. Recent research, focusing on lung tissue, reveals that mutated Kras induces cells to multiply by orchestrating structural rearrangements of chromatin, the carefully-packaged bundle of DNA and proteins in cell nuclei. It does so by harnessing a protein complex, AP1, which reshapes chromatin, making some sections of DNA more accessible. Similar mechanisms operate in two types of cells involved in lung cancer, club cells and alveolar cells, but club cells (pictured in culture, in green) also change their nature, expressing proteins (highlighted in red) more typical of alveolar cells. Inhibiting AP1 prevents chromatin remodelling and cell proliferation in cultured Kras mutant cells, suggesting a potential new route for tackling notoriously hard to treat Kras-related cancers.

Lakshminarasimha Temple 1235, Haranhalli, Hassan, Karnataka Sudha G. wrote : This Lakshminarasimha Temple has a trikuta plan with the central shrine more prominent than the ones on the side. All three shrines are connected by a common mandapa, with the lateral shrines opening directly into it and the main shrine into a vestibule that leads to the mandapa. I am usually okay with photography not being allowed inside temples, but not this time. The carvings, especially over the lintels to the sanctums, are exquisite - perhaps the best that I saw during my visit to all the Hoysala Temples. I really wish I could have shared photographs of that with you. The plan of this temple is similar to that of the temples I have already posted earlier. It is built on a jagati and has six bands of carvings running all around the temple: hansa in the first frieze at the base, makara in the second, a blank third row, and a leafy fourth frieze. The fifth and sixth rows depict horses and elephants respectively. Just above the topmost row are sculptures depicting gods, goddesses, madanikas, etc. sudhagee.com (via Instagram: Sudha G.)
