Queen Elizabeth of the United Kingdom, 1939
Elizabeth Angela Marguerite Bowes-Lyon (4 August 1900 – 30 March 2002) was Queen of the United Kingdom and the Dominions of the British Commonwealth from 11 December 1936 to 6 February 1952 as the wife of King George VI.
She was concurrently the last Empress of India until the British Raj was dissolved in August 1947.
After her husband died, she was known as Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, to avoid confusion with her daughter, Queen Elizabeth II.

"Bertie, do you know you have got a most changeable face? It is too odd, sometimes you look a completely different person, always nice though, but I must not flatter you because then your head will swell, & you will have to buy new hats. That would be very sad, wouldn’t it? ... Darling B, you are an Angel. Your as ever loving E."
Lady Elizabeth Bowes Lyon, to the Duke of York, 31 March 1923 (they were engaged at the time, but each with their respective families for Easter, and Elizabeth was looking at Bertie's photo in the newspaper.)
