Questlove-directed “Ladies & Gentlemen … 50 Years of SNL Music” to Premiere Jan. 27, 2025, on NBC

- “Like being in a time machine,” Questlove says

A new documentary will take a look - and listen - at a half-century of musical performances on “Saturday Night Live.”

Directed by Questlove, “Ladies & Gentlemen … 50 Years of SNL Music” will premiere Jan. 27, 2025, on NBC.

The director promises to go below “the tip of a huge iceberg” that is famous performances by Elvis Costello, the Beastie Boys, Sinéad O’Connor and others in the three-hour special.

“The process of going back through the incredible archival footage was like being in a time machine, DeLorean or other,” Questlove said in a statement.

“I’m so happy I went on the trip and now get to share it with everyone.”

In addition to archival performances, the film will feature interviews with Costello, Dave Grohl, Debbie Harry and Chris Stein, Mick Jagger, Tom Morello, Paul Simon, Chris Stapleton, Jack White and others.

Rewatching some Bunsen Is a Beast to check a fact and oh my gosh, I missed Mikey so much... He's so messed up.

Maybe his parents shouldn't leave him home alone for months or years at a time without touching him. Did they ever think of that.

Also, I found a sketch of adult Mikey smooching Sophie while he's got one hand on the stalker drone to cover his parents' eyes and honestly... that still feels right. I might redraw that.

Apparently I have a draft where Mikey is reassuring his friends that he'll be able to figure out the automatic cat food dispenser because it "looks just like his automatic cereal dispenser" and ?? why didn't I ever post this.

I miss him. World's most perfect man... He is not; he's actually the worst <3

There are three categories of names for Mayan historical figures / artifacts:

1. We know exactly what they were called! (Hasaw Chan K’awiil, Yax Nuun Ayiin, etc.)

2. We don’t know exactly what they were called so we will name them systematically and professionally (Principle Bird Deity, Rulers A, B, and C, the Maize God, etc.)

3. We don’t know what they were called and fuck it I’m tired of formality (the Toothache Glyph, the Jester Headdress, and, my personal favorite: LADY BEASTIE )
