This is the largest photomosaic ever assembled from Hubble Space Telescope image data. It is a panoramic view of our neighboring spiral Andromeda Galaxy. It consists of 600 overlapping frames assembled from observations made from July 2010 to December 2022. A cropped version of the mosaic, which is shown above, partially covers Andromeda's core and inner spiral arms. Also known as M31, the Andromeda Galaxy is 2.5 million light-years away, making it the closest large spiral galaxy to our own. Hubble's comprehensive, detailed data set extending across the Andromeda Galaxy will allow astronomers to make an unprecedented exploration of the mysteries of spiral galaxy structure and evolution.

02/21/2032 – entry 1

Launch went off mostly without a hitch. Ship handled things perfectly. I threw up on the ascent. God damn smell won't go away. Hope the air system cycles some of it out. Come on carbon filters, help a motherfucker's nose. Nine months. Red planet. Let's go!

03/14/2032 – entry 2

Captain's log, star date... whatever. This isn't Star Trek, it's just a pre-habitation supply mission. Damn ship pretty much does everything on its own. I'm just here for the occasional problem and for the on-planet landing and unloading of the supply module. Good news: the puke smell finally went away. Bad news: farts still smell in space.

04/01/2032 – entry 5

April Fool's Day you stupid lonely fucker. It's too quiet. The computers don't constantly beep. That shit just happens on TV shows. Hum of the air circulation system. Course correction nozzles firing off occasionally. Only other noises are from my own damn self and the occasional alarm reminding me to check critical systems regularly.

Thought I heard a voice behind me. Must be getting jumpy. Checked the radio, it's off. It wasn't a call from command. Double checked my music player. It hasn't been on since I gave myself a cleaning earlier.

04/19/2032 – entry 8

Hearing shit again. Could swear a voice said “I'm behind you.” Maybe I'm just getting stir-crazy from being on this ship alone for over a month. Good news, only 8 more months to go. I'll have a full-blown friendship built up with the voices by the time I get to Mars. I haven't mentioned this to Command Central. This is nothing for them to worry about.

OK, something touched my shoulder and I heard the voice again. It said “I'm right here.” Nothing, nothing behind me. Nothing. I checked. Double checked. Air supply is OK, oxygen levels in range. Can't be that. I don't know what to think. Fuck this cramped ship.

05/02/2032 – entry 15

It wants me to open the emergency port. It? I don't know what it is. I'm seeing shadows in the windows now. Swear to God it cupped my crotch. Is it a hand? I may be going crazy. Took a pill to chill. Command Central asked me if I was OK. Just told them I lost some sleep when repairing the cross-fuel fault in panel 7 yesterday.

Did you hear it? What? No, No, please stop touching me. I'm not opening the emergency port. I don't want to be here. Running out of pills. Sleep getting harder. Didn't answer command today. Please make it stop!

I don't know what month it is or day or whatever – entry something something

I saw it in the corner. Some shadowy humanoid form... but not human. Claws? I'm not sure if I saw claws. Eyes are too big, kept staring at me. When I walked toward the corner nothing was there. Cried in between broken bits of sleep. Fuck Mars.

It doesn't want me to do any more journal entries. I've bypassed the security over-ride on the port emergency door. I just have to push the button now. It said it would take me home. I want that. I don't want Mars anymore. Please.

“Beckert, you said there was no body?”

“Nothing, Sir, port emergency hatch was intact. Some odd handprints along the outside of the ship, but again, we had minimal time. Maybe we can be more thorough once it is on the ground.”

“None of this makes sense, Beckert. He checked out, was our top candidate for the journey. I don't see him cracking up. Where is his body? This job was supposed to be easy. That's what they told me Beckert. Ha. Fuckers. OK, Go make sure everything else goes smooth with the recover and landing. I'm going to read this journal again and call my superiors.”

“Very good Sir.”

Beckert gave a quick salute and quickly left the room. This gave him chills. “What the hell happened? Just a simple supply mission. Wait, what? Thought I saw something. A shadow. Just a trick of the lights, I'm sure. Just jumpy from this incident.”

28. What's more trustworthy? Popularity or critical acclaim?

That's a tough one. Critical acclaim, for me, is probably a bit more trustworthy, when coming from the right sources and reviewers. Popularity can be trustworthy at times as well. Both things I think can be more trustworthy in a scene or local scope. A local band being popular in an area can be a sign that they may be worth checking out. A genre specific zine can have reviewers and critics that follow more along the lines of a person's particular tastes. So I maybe didn't really answer this. I did not plan on having such a long wishy-washy response for this. LOL

37. What's the most underrated musician/band in your opinion?

I'll have a different answer for this tomorrow... but today I'm going to say Killing Joke. Their influence is beyond wide-ranging but they are not spoken about as much as Joy Division or The Cure or The Clash, etc. Many punk bands, metal bands, industrial bands, post-punk bands, etc mention Killing Joke as an influence.
